Ok, we've talked a lot about the movie, but what do you think of Sonic Prime? :D
I think that Sonic Prime had a pretty strong start but definitely suffered pacing issues, especially in the final season, and absolutely needed a better ending than what we got (it felt more like the ending of a single episode than a whole series you know what I mean?). I also do think Sonic was written pretty out-of-character there, and I'm not too happy that the writers were fully ignoring Sega's lore team.
Also, it was very obvious that they weren't given a big enough budget for the show they were trying to do. The locations besides New Yoke City were incredibly barren. They reminded me of the worlds in Kingdom Hearts.
That said, I think a lot of love and care was put into the animation! It's a very GOOD LOOKING show, and you can really tell that the animators, themselves, are huge Sonic nerds. I really appreciated that aspect of Sonic Prime.
Also? Ian Hanlin as Shadow was great. I'm pretty much beating a dead horse by saying this but he has a REALLY fitting voice for Shadow and absolutely can act (both as Shadow and as Big). I do wish he was voicing game!Shadow. I also wish Shadow got more than like, ten minutes of screen time in Prime.
So, overall, I'm glad it exists. I have my gripes, but i'm happier this show happened than not. I hope someday we can have an animated Sonic show with an even bigger budget and with writers who actually care about the property they're handling.

I know you're more passionate about JP Sonic, but I'm still curious: What are your thoughts on Ian Flynn's writing for English Sonic (from IDW comics, Sonic Frontiers (Ian was mostly writing the dialogue based on the premise that SEGA of America had given him for that game)) and other recent Sonic media?
For me, and many others, it may be the best writing for NA Sonic we've had in years. Yes, he isn't perfect and he's made some mistakes, but when you compare his work to the Pontac/Graff era, there's a massive improvement to be noticed. I've seen a lot of accusations being thrown at Ian when there's plenty of evidence to disprove them, and it kinda sucks to see a nice guy getting so much hate. Yes, people are allowed to not like Ian's work, but that doesn't mean they have to be jerks about it. It doesn't help that the mandates from SoA reistrict him from doing some incredible stuff.
This is just my personal thought anyway. What do you think of Ian's writing, and do you have any personal nitpicks with it? (sorry if that came off as accusatory, i'm just curious)
You're good, your question was not accusatory in the slightest! I'm personally a HUGGGGE fan of this question (and I'm glad I can answer it somewhere safe without getting dog pilled).
In full honesty, he's decent at best but that's it. He's leagues better than what we had before but if we had better options I wouldn't want him to write for the games. I can live with him writing IDW (although I have many criticism for that comic & do not consider it canon because of said criticism, even if it).
Ian's problem is that he has a good understanding of the characters, just a not good enough one. He convies their actions (in the comics) so well. But when it comes to dialogue it all falls apart. Sonic, for example, is supposed to be a static hero, the story changes around him & not the other way around. Ian has good story driven narrative, but not character driven. So characters getting philosophical out of nowhere seems unnecessary, especially when Sonic's straight to the point. And Ian has NOOOO idea how to write Amy, especially with that vague "sharing love with the world" arc she had in frontiers. It's clear there are characters he struggles with. Same goes to Eggman & how irrelevant he is.
Ian as a person is... Eh. He's kind & sweet, yes, but unprofessional. It's the fact that people don't know his role isn't that huge and start controversies because of what he makes up on the fly on his podcast, and then he asks "why did this thing happen?". He shouldn't be answering questions that will start a war and then wonder why it happened. He's a little careless in that departement.
All in all, I think he's ok at writing but has apparent flaws that people choose to ignore. I could go on in a longer post about what I didn't like in Frontiers' story to justify my point, but atm I'm too lazy haha.
Tl;dr, good writer, just not great. Would take Toyoda over him tbh.
#emi rambles#emi answers tumblr#no hate to ian obv#im just not a fan#i dont think he deserves to be attacked or hated tho#sonic fans am i right

A few Koichi Namiki and Takenobu Mitsuyoshi recommendations!
I finally have a decent excuse to talk about random composers and arrangers again!
Okay, so why these two in particular? well they both formed B-Univ, a short lived succesor of S.S.T. Band
This post isnt really focused or limited by their works as B-Univ. I just wanted to post about some music I enjoy from the two.
Okay! So ill start with a bit of Mitsuyoshi:
"From Loud 2 Low too" - 2009
A sequel to "From Loud 2 Low", this album is mainly comprised by SEGA tracks he had worked on previously along with a few original tracks exclusive to the album.
A bit odd how im starting with the sequel to an album (a compilation album no less) but its SO good. Its two whole discs of some of mitsuyoshi's best!
If you're not too familiar with his work id suggest give this a shot due to the sheer variety of stuff.
LET'S GO AWAY THE VIDEO GAME DAYTONA USA ANNIVERSARY BOX - 2009
Ok I wont beat arround the bush. Mitsuyoshi is mainly known for his work on Daytona USA.
While he didnt compose Daytona 2 or Circuit Edition, hes still the primary vocalist through the series.
He has had a hand in the soundtrack of most entries in one form or another.
Not much to say here. its his most well known work for a reason.
SEGA RALLY 2006 ORIGINAL SOUND TRACK - 2006
A bit of an underrated game in the Sega Rally series! Most of the main tracks were compossed by Mitsuyoshi.
Great ost! and P dang good game too!!
Koichi Namiki time
I consider Mitsuyoshi's biggest strengh to be his voice
Koichi Namiki's strengh is his guitar.
Cool Rails / Koichi Namiki - 2022
Pretty recent huh
Koichi made his first solo album in 2022! It features a few sega arrangements but its mainly original music by him.
Theres a heavy emphasis on guitars as the main instrument.
It rules
GALAXY FORCE II & THUNDER BLADE ORIGINAL SOUND TRACK - 2007
Two of his most notable works in one album.
Koichi and Katsuhiro Hayashi made some great tunes for arcade
Galaxy Force 2 and Thunder Blade are two of my favorite sprite scaling games (mainly due to their fantastic 3DS ports) for a multitude of reasons but one of them is the soundtrack
Great stuff!
and might as well end this post with this
Virtua Racing & Out Runners - 1993
Its mainly composed by mitsuyoshi but koichi is there as the lead guitar.
Fantastic arrangements for the two games and the entirety of the soundtrack to two of my favorite racing games
Really dang great
WORD OF ADVICE: SKIP TRACK 9 OF DISC 1. ITS GENUINELY HORRID- PARABOL 9 SOUNDING ASS
So yeah! thats a few albums and releases I enjoy with music made by these two! I could keep going but I gotta get going myself and I think this is good enough for now!

Sega 32X - Space Harrier
Title: Space Harrier / スペースハリアー
Developer/Publisher: Sega / Rutubo Games
Release date: 3 December 1994
Catalogue No.: GM-4005
Genre: 3D Shooting Action
It was extremely colorful, hypnotic, and trippy when it first came out in the arcades in the 80s. I remember my late father having experienced it way back when. After all, it does start with "Welcome to the Fantasy Zone". It had a great 3D feel to it. The earlier Sega home versions were OK (namely the Master System and Game Gear ones), but they lacked all the color and detail. The 32X version brought it all together. It's simple enough to learn right away. And the graphics changes in each level make you want to play more, at least to see the end bosses.

In honor of Lain's 25th birthday from yesterday, here is a comic from Yoshitoshi Abe where he actually made the "Cereal Experiments" pun just like the rest of us fucking losers on the Wired:
Translation (not by me, from the ancient texts) - its not a great translation but the image resolution would make revisiting it a real pain, I have enough on my plate !
Pg 1 Lain: Hi, I'm Lain. Toko: Hi, I'm Toko. Lain and Toko: Together, we're Lain-toko. Lain: That's just as bad as "Segata Sanshirou"* Toko: You look like you're in low spirits. Lain: Yeah… I get dizzy sometimes… (whir whir whir) Lain: See, again…. Toko: Are you a dragonfly?**** In your case, your eating habits are the problem. You're not a manga artist, so you should at least lead an average lifestyle. Lain: Occupational discrimination all of a sudden, eh? Toko: This is perfect for someone like you. "Cereal Experiments." It has lots of fiber and you'll be full of pep again. Lain: E-e-experimental food? Toko: Of course not. It's just mind expanding food. Lain: What's that? Toko: Just pour milk and you get 12 vitamins and minerals and assorted chemical substances and your health will soar. Lain: I don't need to soar. Pg 2 Lain: Are you sure, it's OK, Tony the Tiger? Toko: I am not. Toko: If you keep eating this everyday the symptoms you experience now such as dizziness, hallucinations…can all be blamed on this. (heh heh heh) [spew] Lain: That's just poison! Toko: Oh, but you know what they say, "poison can be medicine after a certain point." Lain: No it won't! What's this? Toko: Oh, Accela Lain: Drugs this time?! Toko: It's not drugs, it's smart supplements. Lain: Same thing! My stomach is starting to hurt. Toko: Oh yeah, you couldn't take milk. Lain: Is that what it is?! [Because of the Accela, the distance to the bathroom is 12x] Lain: Aargh, it's far… *Pun on hot curry **"Lain-toko" might be a pun on "raincoat". ***Segata Sanshiro is a character who appears in Sega commercials, and is a pun on "Sega Saturn shiro" (play Sega Saturn) ****Dragonflies supposedly get knocked out if you do that with your finger…

Sonic the Comic Liveblog: Issue 94
I really like this cover art! I can't put my finger on it, but there's a certain je ne sais quoi about this art that really identifies it as belonging to a British comic.
Oh okay, cover art was by Elson, explains why I liked it then. Anyway, we see once again that the price of StC is being raised. I've said before I feel StC is expensive, especially in comparison to late 2000s era Beano, but I suppose when you compare it to something more comtemporary like IDW Sonic it's a good price? Then again, who knows how it stacks up when you account for inflation. Annnnnd final note about this image - I wonder if that sonic spinner toy works like a fidget spinner?
It might be because this is a whole different planet from Mobius, but it feels really odd that we're seeing like… Disney-esque dog humans as secondary and background characters rather than more traditional anthromorphic animals.
Anyway, professor dude turned into reverse colour scheme Hulk. They're not even hiding it, his name is literally Bulk.
Ah yes, Sonic's "spin really really fast to solve any problem" tactic! Haven't seen that one in a good few issues.
Lol that's some pretty good snark.
Hey, that's pretty close to my main blog's URL!
Hmm. Starting to get Totally Spies vibes.
Nice monochrome colouring! And it's pretty interesting to see Vector characterised as being smart in this way, even if the explaination does sound like it fits right in with Classic era Doctor Who lmao
A review of Fighting Vipers, and look, there's Honey! I bet this reviewer never would've guessed that character with later be connected to the Sonic series
Ooooooh! Did not expect to be introduced to Ebony and Pyjamas today! I am quite aware these two are fan-favourites. Btw, I'm loving that outfit Ebony is wearing, never seen art of her wearing anything modern and casual like that before.
Ok! I guess she can change her outfit instantly! But man, I can already see that people must've fallen in love with this character quickly, just this one panel is great show of personality.
You have my heart, Ms Ebony <3
I haven't really brought it up much, but for a good while by this point, StC has become more or less just a Sonic comic (jeez, who would imagine considering it's name). The only other Sega comics they do anymore is the occassional run of Decap Attack comics. I guess out of all of them this one must've been a favourite among readers.
I about to make a joke sugguesting Johnny's drink is alcoholic, but I wonder how old he actually is? Legal drinking age is 18 so he could potentially be old enough? But even if he wasn't, the UK is not exactly know for having teenagers who always follow drinking laws.
Gonna file this one under "sentences that sound a lot more racist if we weren't talking about animals"
It's kinda funny that Knuckles just like… randomly has a pet dinosaur now. …oh my god this issue is from 1997 so means Underground (released 1999) wasn't the first one to give him a dinosaur for no reason.
You know what mate? I'd be pissed off too.
A third of the back page which is otherwise dedicated to reminding you when the next issue releases? oh god yeah, such a waste of space. Totally unbelivable. 🙄
The word of a kid who probably also enjoys burning ants under a magnifying glass.

My next piece for Halloween, this time a Sonic piece.
(did not do lineart and just went straight to colouring)
Featuring not just Sonic and Tails, but also Sally, Bunnie, Antoine and Rotor, specifically in their (often overlooked) SEGAfied Classic designs (the gameverse and the Archie Post-SGW reboot are the same canon to me, OK? You're not changing my mind, SEGA are cowards for not counting it!)
These kids are just about ready to go trick-or-treating!
The Halloween costumes from left to right are:
Pilot for Tails. At first I thought about dressing Tails as a mad scientist, but felt that's a bit too on-the-nose of his smarts. After seeing 2019 Halloween art by Mark Hughes that had Tails dressed as a pilot, I decided to choose that costume instead bc he looked really cute in it. Is it also too on-the-nose for his flying? Eh, you be the judge.
Vampire for Sonic. Very classic costume, one that Sonic has worn multiple times in various promo artworks. Of course I had to continue it here, it would definitely be a costume he would actually wear.
Witch for Sally. Sally has had a witch costume done before, back in Archie pre-reboot. Wanted to continue that bc she makes a great witch. Used Amy Rose's Witch costume from this 2022 artwork also by Mark Hughes for reference, but with changes so it fits Sally more. And I drew her a broom before finding out there's actually an Extreme Gear that's literally a broom. So the little hook at the end is a nod to that.
Marxio Brother Grouchio for Rotor. Funnily enough, I had no clue what he and Antoine's costumes were gonna be. For Rotor, I thought about either an inventor or scientist. But much like with Tails, it'd be a bit too on-the-nose on his inventive personality. I eventually narrowed it down to him dressing as a Marxio brother! Yes they're Sonic the Comic characters parodying both the Marx Brothers and Super Mario, and yes in StC they're evil, but StC is also another alternate universe or alternate zone within the Sonic multiverse in my mind, so gameverse versions of the the Marxio Brothers is likely and would not only be good, but they'd also still got games and be at our Mario's level of popularity and that Rotor plays them (inspired by @adokle's genius ideas on how he takes non-game characters like the Marxio brothers, other SEGA IPs and scrapped concepts and run with whatever idea he has for them and make it a thing! Please follow him and reblog his stuff!)
Knight for Bunnie. I could not pass this opportunity to give Bunnie a knight costume! I feel it's a clever way for working in her robot limbs, which would pass off as armour. Would you agree?
Pirate for Antoine. Like Rotor, I was also stuck on what costume Antoine could wear. I settled on a pirate! Used Pirate Sonic and Captain Shellbreaker for reference when making Antoine's costume. And of course he still carries his father's sword even in costume.
I haven't started learning how to draw backgrounds yet (one day..), so I used the Pumpkin Hill skybox! It may not be Classic era themed, but it's certainly fitting for Halloween!

Listen. I have trust issues about this, alright? Blame IGN's April Fool's Day 2008 fake trailer.
youtube
And looking at the details we have so far gives me mixed feelings.
Miyamoto teaming up with Avi Arad to produce — I'm down for it.
Tapping the Director of the Maze Runner movies for the Directors' chair here — OK, yeah, I can see it.
Partnering with Nintendo's mortal enemy Sony for minority share co-financing and then also worldwide distribution? That's a bold move, we'll see how it works for them.
The last time Nintendo and Sony tried to partner on anything, was when "PlayStation" was going to be a CD-ROM add-on to the SNES in the same way the Sega CD hooked on to the Genesis.
They couldn't agree on how to split the licensing fees, and Nintendo told Sony, "hey, if you don't like our deal, we'll just work with Phillips instead." Which made for a great villain origin story, because Sony just took all that game hardware development experience and rolled it into a standalone console.
Meanwhile, Nintendo's new partnership with Phillips had to play catch up for lost time as it was starting late in the 16-bit generation. As a stopgap, Nintendo licensed its popular franchises to Phillips to let them make games for their in-house interactive multimedia platform, CDi.
This resulted in the absolute worst entries in the entire Zelda franchise, pushing the laughably bad LoZ DIC cartoon that aired on Fridays on the Super Mario Brothers Super Show a few slots up from its previous spot at the bottom of the list. The CDi Zelda games even make Tingle look like a well-written reasonable character in comparison.

Persona 3 Reload, Part 2 *SPOILERS*
OK, I mentioned I needed a second post to talk about the voice acting because it would be too long and this is it. Once again, spoilers for those that either haven't played the original or Reload. If you haven't finished it, go fuck off and finish it now. Also, I've been sitting on this for too long, so I'm posting it now, months after I finished beating the game and my thoughts are still valid and still the same.
Have you finished playing Reload? OK, here we go.
This cast is...
GOATed with the Sauce!
It is such a good cast and I feel like I need to mention every single one in their own paragraph:
Aleks Le is a phenomenal Protagonist and he does an equally great job as Pharos and Ryoji. And his line work as Nyx Avatar? Sublime. I am so glad that he was the one picked. He did a great job and was the right choice from the get-go.
Zeno Robinson as Junpei goes above, beyond, and surpasses Vic Mignogna easily. Even if Vic Mignogna wasn't such a fucking walking example of a disastrous asshole (to severely understate it), it wouldn't have been hard to surpass him. He brings out every facet of Junpei so well: his insecurities, his pain, everything. He *is* Junpei Iori and I hope his career goes to even greater heights than he's already hit.
Heather Gonzalez was someone whose initial work, I did not get the greatest introduction to. I first heard her work when she stepped in to take over for Marisha Ray as Laura S. Arseid for Trails of Cold Steel IV and Trails into Reverie and I did not like her version of Laura at all. However, before I heard her as Yukari when I played the game fully, I did hear her as Cocolia Rand in Honkai Star Rail and got a much better impression of her and she's fantastic as Cocolia Rand. So, I wasn't sure how her Yukari was going to sound. After playing the game, I can happily say that she's great as Yukari. I was worrying for nothing and thought she did a fantastic job.
But not even she got the hate and vitriol that the fandom gave Alejandro Saab as Akihiko before the game came out. I felt so sorry for him getting so much shit over the different direction he went with his voice for him. And I'll admit I was worried about it too, but I wasn't about to be mad prematurely before I got to hear his performance in the game and I'm so glad I waited because he was fantastic. I was worried he was going to be 100% bravado the entire time, but luckily, that initial impression was wrong. SEGA and Atlus did him dirty by picking the scenes they did for previews before the character trailer came out. He pulled off every last scene perfectly: the awkwardness during Operation Babe Hunt, the sadness when grieving for Shinjiro. Every scene was done really well. The fandom pre-judged too hard before they gave his performance a chance. I do have one minor gripe: the way he says “I’ve been waiting for this!” is so off. I kind of miss how Liam O’Brien said it.
Suzie Yeung as Fuuka? Adorable! I loved her performance. It’s way better than the original. Although, I will miss that goofy line. You know the one: *gasp* The Enemy! No further notes needed. It’s just a solid performance all around.
Same goes for Dawn M. Bennett as Aigis. I like her Aigis a lot. She’s a lot more subtle in the change of tone from mechanical to human-like compared to Karen Strassman, so it’s harder to catch the change. Also, this is a minor nitpick for localization rather than her specifically, but… uhhh… Aigis should not know the term “goated with the sauce”. That’s a 2020s term, not one from 2009.
Koromaru’s new voice, Shinya Takahashi, has been doing it for a while now, starting with the movies. He’s a good choice and I’m glad he got to continue the role for the game.
Justine Lee as Ken Amada? 1000% improvement over the original from the games, holy shit. It’s a great choice and I hope that their career continues from here for sure.
I’ve saved my favorite for last because I have *thoughts* on Justice Slocum as Shinjiro and oh my god, he is so damn good as him! Every scene I got hear him perform in the game was a delight! He did a fantastic job and it was an honor to watch him play and beat Persona 3 FES fully. He is right there with Grant George on the performance level, with only one thing holding it back and that’s something that isn’t his fault at all and is a localization thing: I don’t think Reload Shinjiro has “Adios, asshole!” as a line, which is genuinely sad as that was Shinjiro’s best line. I would’ve loved to hear Justice’s take on it.
Strega’s voice actors are also great. Daman Mills as Takaya is probably his best performance yet. Chris Hackney is wonderful as Jin and this counts to at least five times I’ve had to put the beat down on a character he voices, and I like Merit Leighton’s Chidori so much. 10/10 casting, no notes.
It is so, so nice to have the S.Links voiced also. Extra special shoutout to Lucien Dodge as Akinari and Yong Yea as Mamoru. Goddamn, they're both so, so damn good in those roles. Overall, this cast is fantastic and I am bummed that Persona 3 Reload did not get the attention it deserved for a fantastic ensemble cast.

Sonic the Hedgehog (16-Bit) - 1991 - Mega Drive
So... The original. In 1991, SEGA unveiled their new and current mascot, Sonic, with what is now regarded as one of the greatest video games ever made.
Plot is simple; Eggman has located 6 of the 7 Chaos Emeralds on South Island, current home to Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic goes to find them first before him, saving the animals of the island along the way. Eventually, he reaches Eggman's base and destroys his operations.
The 100% requirement for this game is; Collect all 6 Chaos Emeralds and beat the game.
---
So, what did I think of the game? This might come as a shock, but... It was just OK. It has some amazing moments! But compared to every other classic 16-Bit game, it just doesn't do it for me.
It starts off strong in Green Hill Zone, which lets you go as fast as you please with a surprisingly minimal amount of platforming. Then you hit a few serious speed bumps.
Marble Zone. Amazing music and pretty colours cannot hide the fact that this is just slow platforming over pools of lava. Spring Yard Zone. We get introduced to bumpers in our first ever pinball-esque stage and it... Isn't as fun as the later casino-themed stages.
Then we hit Labyrinth Zone. The water stage. Home of children's nightmares as the drowning theme plays again for the 500th time. I hate this stage. Great music and scenery though!
After a rough middle patch, the game picks up again with Star Light zone, which encourages you to run again. And finally, Scrap Brain Zone puts all the good and bad together into the ultimate challenge and the final battle against Eggman.
Overall; despite hitting a few rough patches in the middle, it all pays off wonderfully. The music is as good as you would expect of a Sonic game, the graphics are still amazing, and naturally, it gave us our favourite Blue Blur!

ok I am genuinely so sick of this game it’s like not even funny
I’m not bad at project sekai. I’m not like some deity-level master at it or anything, but I can fc up to level 30 songs, which I think is more than some people can say. I like playing rhythm games because I like doing well. The dopamine rush of getting an fc on a difficult song is great. But holy shit this game is unplayable in that aspect.
There are so many songs that I could easily clear on master difficulty save for the fact that the game deadass won’t let me. It’s like I can’t play a single song without at least one tap not registering for no fuckass reason. I hardly ever get fcs, and it’s not even due to my own fault. I just want to play the game and perform to the best of my ability. You’d think I was asking for a fucking miracle. And I feel like it makes me look so stupid when I play co-op with my mad skills banner on and end up not getting a fc on a level 25 song or something. It’s literally so embarrassing.
Sega I’m literally out here playing your game so it’d be greatly appreciated if you’d, yk, let me??????? I sure as hell can’t even dream of participating in 1v1 ranked matches because it puts me at such a disadvantage. It doesn’t matter how well I do if my taps just don’t register. It’s not fair. I just want my efforts to be worth something. Please.
And don’t even get me started on the gacha rates. They’re a lot nicer than some other games when it comes to giving rewards and freebies, but the high pity you need is insane. On multiple occasions I’ve spent hours of my life grinding for pulls for a certain card only to get absolutely nothing. And I’ll be damned if I ever catch myself spending money on a pretty picture made of pixels.
I’ve done too much to uninstall at this point, but it’s gotten to the point where I’m just in a constant cycle of going like a couple months without playing, playing religiously for a few days, getting pissed about it not functioning properly, and quitting for another period of time. I don’t care if it’s the game’s fault or my phone’s fault. I don’t know. I’m just tired.

What is the reason I keep coming to dance these carnival songs? Well, like King Posse artists, the carnival music always brings something in the air, something in the sound and the way it moves me feels exhilarating, hypnotizing, and gives me a rush of life! It's like when you're in the hospital and the doctor pumps oxygen in your lungs it makes you feel reborn. It really puts me in a happy mood and lets me show off a little bit of my daring side because I love a great adventure!!! Do you wish to feel that way too? Well, you can start by giving this video a try! Pouki rezon mwen kontinye danse chante kanaval sa yo? Ebyen, tankou atis King Posse, mizik kanaval la toujou pote yon bagay nan lè a, yon bagay nan son an, ak fason li touchem santi eksitan, ipnotize, et interessant! The problem with sonic and elise is not that their human/anthro (though thats also something I really dont like but that's besides the point). Even if Elise was also an animal the ship wouldve still felt very forced and very uncomfortable. There were too many scenes that were trying to be deep and emotional but they fell flat and came off as cheesy unuseful and of no benefit to sonics character. I'm gonna be honest I dont really care about elise and I really feel like 06 didnt need her in the story at all but if she must be added in then it should've just been a friendship bond. EVEN IF sega wanted to actually make sonelise a thing 06 shouldve been the start and in later games they couldve expanded on their gross ship. Which in turn wouldve been where I stepped out and full on go hardcore ship shadamy since they are also an amy ship I am ok with and Sonic probably wouldve dropped further on the characters I like list. I mean hes already not number 1. I do like sonic theres just other characters that I like more than him but if what he was destined to be with elise then yes that wouldve made him a lot more unlikeable to me. Heck I also really dont like Sonally but I 1000x prefer Sonally to sonelise.
It irks me cuz I remember reading a post saying sonic 06 had the best representation of sonic showing romantic affection and its true I'll admit that. I just feel that great success in showing Sonics feelings were so very much wasted on the wrong character and wrong story. Like this isnt even cuz of the fact that I'm a sonamy shipper. Do I feel the way sonic showed affection in 06 shouldve happened or should happen with Amy. Yes. But also even if was with a different character where it actually made sense I would not have minded. Its frustrating to me cuz I feel like the semi natural progression on buildup in 06 is exactly how it was supposed to happen for sonamy. Such wasted potential.

ok hi i am currently making my way through all of ur recs and its a LOT of music so its probs gonna take me a couple of days . that being said what ive heard so far i REALLY like
wanna start with what id already heard, ofc Daytona USA OST is great, id say my favorite songs from there were either Sky High or Pounding Pavement, very hard choice.... good stuff all around tho to be sure
i listened to a couple of tracks from FL2LT and id say Could Be or Sling Shot are my favs there, i really love how he always does his vocals, that shit always rocks and it really shines here from what ive listened to so far
finally MAN all of Mitsuyoshi's tracks from Sega Rally 2006 absolutely fuck. every track i heard was awesome, especially Temptation of Speed, Iron Bullfight, and Muddi'n Bass, pumpin tracks that sound like a perfect fit for a rally game (really makes me wanna give it a shot... the last time i tried a rally game, Michelin Rally Masters, was also for the soundtrack, but i didnt mesh with it that much. maybe ill like Sega Rally more,,)
ANYWAYS those are my first impressions. ill keep u updated on my listening experience, and thank u for the recs, ive been really enjoying it so far :D
Thank you for checking out my list of stuff!
maan... Daytona is iconic at this point, lovely tunes for an already fantastic game.
Hell yeah I love "could be"! Its one of my favorite tracks from Crackin' DJ Part 2.
I enjoy Sling Shot a whole lot... buuut I do kinda preffer Dennis St. James ngl. Idk I feel his voice fits more Daytona 2 but I would be lying if I said Mitsuyoshi didnt give a great performance.
Sega Rally rocks! Its one of my favorite racing game series, straying away from simulation racing to focus on the joy of drifting arround in a rally course.
2006 is great buuut I highly recommend starting with the original and its sequel!
(Ok this is the start to a random ass ramble about Sega Rally... just skip the next bold text)
Sega Rally '94 was ported to PS2 and Saturn
PS2 is a straight port of the arcade version while saturn has a bit funkiness due to it being a much weaker machine than the Sega Model 2 but its still great tho!
Highly recommend the "Plus Netlink" release because of the 3D analog pad support.
2 was ported to DC and Windows... but both versions are bad.
Long story short: SR2 for DC was built arround the Windows CE support that the Dreamcast had. WinCE support was mainly there to make it so developers had an easy time working with the hardware and little trouble bringing their stuff to PC... problem is, windows CE on DC was crap and was much more limiting than it should have been
(so much so SEGA just gave developers their own simple OS so they didnt have to use CE (Using CE was still an option but... nobody used it))
Visuals are much worse and it runs like straight garbage and PC is just DC but at an acceptable framerate.
Emulating the Model 3 ver is the way to go.
Its a bit of a hurdle but its super worth it imo. Its one of my absolute favorite games.
The feeling of taking a corner is unmatched
(End of Ramble)
Im glad to hear you've been enjoying everything so far!!
Thanks once again for giving it a shot and apologies for the extended thing about windows CE there.

Sega Mega CD - Shining Force CD
Title: Shining Force CD / シャイニングフォースCD
Developer/Publisher: Sega / Sonic! Software Planning / Seraphic / Rit's Co. Ltd. / Winds / Twofive
Release date: 22 July 1994
Catalogue No.: G-6036
Genre: Strategy RPG
If there is one single, great tragedy with Shining Force CD, it’s that so few people ever actually got around to playing it. At the time, the series was just getting on its feet, and the Mega CD itself was still struggling to obtain some decent sales, which it may or may not have ever gotten (depending on who you ask). This combination of sad factors led many to overlook one of the better strategy/RPGs out there. Let me echo the voices of those who stand behind this forgotten classic and sing the praises of everything Shining! Ok, maybe that’s bringing it on a bit thick; you get the picture though. Why, just look at what Sega gave us. Both Game Gear carts (Shining Force Gaiden [1992] and Shining Force Gaiden II [1993]) together on a single disc, with an extra exclusive battle. Four books, 53 battles. How can you not like this? I’ve owned and beaten all the games in this series, and after going back to it, I gained a new respect for it. Not everything is to my liking, I can say that flat out, but the package as a whole is a winner and one solid ride.
What’s not to like? For one thing, the treasured town dynamic has been removed. No longer can you explore and chat with villagers. The game has basically been reduced to the fighting sequences, with some story tossed in for good measure. The plot is now mostly told on the field, and it at least still maintains the same sense of urgency and tongue-in-cheek doomsday atmosphere that the others had. Let’s be honest, none of the bad guys in the Shining Force games have ever been truly menacing, and the CD installment doesn’t detour from that at all.
The adventure opens twenty years after the conclusion of the first Shining Force, with the land of Gardiana having been rebuilt by Luke, Lowe, and Ken; all of whom now serve Queen Anri. Ambassadors from Cypress (not the island nation, mind you) present a gift to her that explodes into a fog upon opening, sending Anri into a deep sleep. A marvelous quest to save her ensues, which culminates with the start of the second chapter, seamlessly attached. Book II’s end in turn sets the stage for the awesome final battle, in which you choose twelve warriors from both forces to end things once and for all (if you meet certain criteria, of course). Did I mention that the main heroes of both books are usable? A neat little touch, that.
Thankfully, it plays as solid as its other 16-bit brethren. I’m not, however, going to get all technical about the gameplay. It’s a Shining Force game, and I’m sure that you’ve played at least one of the other three entries available. Nothing’s changed here, and fans will be able to dive right in without even reading the manual. Newcomers should have little trouble, although they may be slightly turned off by the constant stream of battles that constitute the bulk of the game.
Let me be honest with myself for a second and not let my love for this franchise cloud my judgment. I am more than a bit disappointed by the presentation. Sure, the visuals are a huge leg up from the Game Gear, but when you already have two games done using the same engine, how hard is that? The battles are as beautiful as ever, but where are my animated cut scenes? Moreover, if this is a CD game, why aren’t there any towns? The exploration dynamic could really have been taken to a whole other level here, and it’s a shame that the developers took the short route. Switching between a shop and my HQ just wasn’t the same, and I really did miss being able to wander around. I bet Camelot knew this too and tried to make up for it with Shining Force III Scenarios 1, 2, and 3 on the Saturn.
One thing’s for sure, the soundtrack is simply GODLY. Sega knew how to take advantage of red book audio on the CD system, and this title is no exception. OST-worthy and beautifully scored, the music practically carries the game by itself. It’s by far one of my favorite soundtracks on the Mega CD.
Another plus is the continuation of the Shining tradition of new and hidden characters. As you progress through the game, new heroes will join you, and there’s a bunch that you actually have to hunt down. This has always been cool because it gives a little more replay value to the package and ensures that you won’t complete the whole thing the same way twice.
Well friends, there you have it. A great adventure that was unfortunately given the cold shoulder for too long, is now commanding upwards of $70 on eBay. That’s the price for learning things late I guess, and although Shining Force CD isn’t perfect, it’s so good you’ll forgive its flaws and revel in its strengths. The quest is long, and the characters are lovable, which should be enough to make it worth some of your time. Every Shining fan needs this one, plain and simple.
