“What?” Spencer asks. 

You wrap your arms around him from behind. You’re more gentle than anyone he’s ever met, though you're teasing, whispering in his ear, “You sit forward so far you must get knots.” 

He’s immediately tense. You take little notice, your nose in his hair, your hand riding up toward his neck, which you spoil with soft touching. He tries to relax. It's all he wanted only a week ago, to have you holding him, to smell your perfume, the stick of your hand lotion or the traces of mint in your lip oil as you kiss the skin just behind his ear. But now it feels like too much. You’re never too much, not for him, and yet. 

“Ready?” you ask, bracing your hands against his chest. 

You pull him back until he hears a solid click emanating from the mid of his spine, and you laugh quite nicely in his ear. You’re his showful girl, but you’ve taken care since he came back to be careful. This is the cheekiest you’ve acted. His ears are ringing as your fingertips draw a path down his chest. This is a proper hug. His chest compresses tightly, he can’t draw breath. 

“Love you,” you say, kissing his cheek. You show no signs of detaching. “You smell really good. Maybe we can get some Indian takeout tonight and just stay all comfy and stuff…” 

He can’t answer. He wishes you’d stop touching him. It’s an unfair wish. 

“Does that sound okay?” you ask. 

He nods, hoping you’ll get off of him once you know the answer. When you stay, he shifts his shoulder and forces out a tight, “Yeah, that’s good.” 

“I love you.” 

He loves you so much it hurts to say. “I love you too.” 

“You’re not feeling okay?” you ask quietly. 

“I’m fine.” 

You climb off of him quickly. He knows he’s been too mean, worse when you say, “Okay,” in a tone like you’ve choked on something. “Uh, well, I’ll go find a menu.” 

You’re not one for filler words —it’s how he knows he’s thrown you for a loop. 

Spencer isn’t trying to be spiteful. He’s constantly overstimulated, he has been for three or months now, weeks and weeks of being in fight mode and now he’s home he doesn’t feel home, you’re here but he’s struggling to just accept that things are fine again. They don’t feel fine. 

He knows he’s lucky. He feels sick, is all. 

After a phone call he hears from the couch where you place an order for all his favourite mains and sides, you return to the living room of his apartment (of which you practically live in) and sit on the far side of the couch. Not too far to miss, but enough to betray how he’s made you feel. 

“Don’t sit so far away,” he says. 

“You’re being snippy, Spencer. Which is fine. But I don’t want to fight.” 

He holds out his hand. “Don’t sit so far away,” he repeats, preface to an apology. 

You shuffle across the couch on your knees. Spencer doesn’t want a hug, but he takes your hand and holds it to his chest where his heartbeat goes a tick too fast. Your frown softens as the bump of his pulse registers. 

“Sorry,” he says. “I don’t know what it is.” 

“That’s okay.” You’re lying at first, then not, “It’s okay, honey. I know you’re– I know this is still bad. I know I’m not being the most help I could be for you right now.” 

“It’s not like that,” he insists. 

“Well. Don’t be sorry. But please don’t say you love me if you don’t want to say it, Spence.” 

He could bite off his own tongue. “I feel like I can’t speak. I think I need to talk to Dr. Kelly tomorrow. I’m so anxious I feel like I can’t breathe.” 

He figures he owes you some honesty, but he’s wishing he kept it to himself when he sees the stricken look that lights your eyes. Your mouth turns to a line. 

Spencer grabs for your other hand. “I’m fine,” he says again. 

“Oh, sure.” You massage his fingers with your thumb on automatic. “You seem totally fine.” You lean in. “I don’t expect you to be fine, you know that? If you’re moody, that’s okay. You can be mad at me if you want, I think you deserve it. But I’m serious, don’t say you love me if you don’t mean it.” 

“I always mean it,” he says honestly. 

For a moment, you bite your lip, your eyes on his, and he worries he’s not as forgiven as he wants to be. 

“I’ll call Dr. Kelly,” you say finally, pulling your joined hands into your lap. “I want you to feel better, babe. That’s all I want.” 

He nods, lifting his chin for a kiss you give immediately. The suffocating feeling abates.

A Very Niche Level-Up + Looksmaxxing Idea List for 2025

This list is for the girls that get it. It’s niche and not for everyone, but I’m throwing up at the fact that every “how to level up in 2025” post talks about journaling sad pages 24/7, drinking 8 cups of water a day, and walking 10k steps. How original.

Again, this is a very niche set of ideas. If you can’t relate then you can’t relate. But if you enjoy a good plastic surgery post and luxe lifestyle, maybe you will :)

1. Upgrade your car. We’re getting the Lexus’, the BMW’s, the Mercedes, the Jag’s, etc.

2. Upgrade your home. We’re living in high rises, we’re living in coastal areas, we’re living up in the mountains, we’re living where Amazon can drop our package off and we don’t have to worry about a porch pirate; we’re living in nice areas and in nice units/homes.

3. Breast augmentation.

4. Rhinoplasty.

5. Medical grade skincare.

6. Fresh, organic whole foods; focusing on lean protein, nuts and seeds, mushrooms, onions, leafy greens, pro/prebiotics, sea moss gel, etc.

7. Russian manicures and pedicures or a good acrylic set. Dip powder had its thing for a while but I’m not going to dip my nail in a powder everyone else dipped their nails. I bet they don’t even wash their hands and if they did, they prob didn’t even use soap.

8. Laser hair removal. Everywhere. If you want a design down there that’s cool, but you literally use the bathroom and it drips in the hair. “Oh but I use a wipe”. Okay, next time you need to wash your hair.. don’t use shampoo. Use a wipe. Invest in a bidet but still, hair shouldn’t be in your 🍑 or near the sensitive areas of your 🦋 the top is fine but if you have a period, pee, or “the other thing”, hair should be no where near those areas.

9. Lip filler. Everyone can benefit. Ask for a pout that sticks out a little bit. I don’t suggest a lip flip, I couldn’t do anything with a lip flip and it was driving me nuts.

10. Fake tan. Sunlight is fine but a spray tan just makes you look a million times better. Every skin tone and every race benefits from a spray tan. Trust.

11. Muscle definition. Muscle looks so much better than fat AND bones. You want muscle. Did you see how Bella Hadid had her foot on our necks at the VS fashion show this year? I was sickkkkkk.

12. Long hair. But if you have a face shape like Hailey Beiber, short hair looks better.

13. Makeup. Remember water-based products and oil-based products don’t mix, so make sure you choose your products wisely so your makeup doesn’t separate and you look a mess.

14. A better paying job. I left my hospital job and now I work in luxury real estate and international yacht sales.

15. Red light therapy for face and body. I have a body red light therapy dome that I got online for around $3,000 (USD) and it’s life. The one I have for the face is from Sephora and I spent like $400-$500 on that one. Whatever it says on the website.

16. Lashes. If you’re a pro at strip lashes, then yes. But I get my lashes done. Do not go crazy. Natural lashes are in so I ask for a classic whispy set focused for thickening my lash line and NOT for length.

17. Morpheus8 for skin tightening. I used it on my inner thighs and it literally saved my life

18. Lipo. If you’re a good candidate, get it. Sometimes belly pooch is hard to lose. I don’t have a pooch but I’m sure when I have kids I will.

19. Vampire facials. I can confidently say my best facials were vampire facials. My med spa charges around $950 for each facial

20. People can tell you’re wearing Shein. Their clothes are cute online but I’m going to hold your hand when I say this, they never look flattering in person when they’re being worn. People can see the loose thread and the see-through material. They also don’t fit anyone well and makes a lot of you look square. You get what you pay for in clothing. Learn about the basics of clothing and you’ll quickly only buy quality.

Yeah this list isn’t meant for everyone, but walking 10,000 steps isn’t going to take you to the next level. Neither is drinking water. They’re good habits, but they’re not going to level you up. And yeah I understand my list requires having money, but this is literally what my blog is about.

In 1958, 2 pilots flew an aircraft for more than 2 months without landing, refueling by matching speed with a truck driving down a road. Their record hasn't been broken

They pooped in a bucket and peed out the door, iirc. Food and water hoisted up in a lunch pail on a rope they lowered from the plane to a truck on the surface. They'd tie off a fuel hose to the rope as well and pump it up to the plane which is what you see here. Rear seats removed and a small foam pad laid down to nap on. Engine modified with a special filler neck that let them add oil in flight, also collected from the truck by rope. I believe the record attempt ended when they were unable to safely climb away after refueling. It wasn't a personnel limitation or an emergency mechanical failure, just a very gradual loss of performance over 1500 hours of continuous operation. Could have kept going until an emergency developed, but, you know, mortality and all.

Lost & Found - Chapter Fifteen.

Because I'm going to be busy and nowhere near a computer tomorrow, I'm sharing the update a day early. It's a bit of a filler chapter, but we do have those on occasion. Enjoy, besties!

Picking up his phone, he turned the screen to reveal an emailed explanation. “Lee. She sent me that this morning, instructions included.”

“It’s gotta sit for a while now,” he spoke, arms sliding around her waist, mouth going to her neck as she placed his phone back down. “So, I got some ideas on how we can pass the time.”  

She felt herself be lifted, Guero seating her on the edge of the counter, beginning to undo her shorts. “But I’m all gross and sweaty.”

“He could be scary, that’s a given, but mostly he was just fucking funny as hell,” he continued, side eyeing Lee as his laughter grew. “One time, Lee didn't put everything required into her pack before we went out on training exercise, so Delaney punished her by finding this big assed rock that weighed roughly the equivalent of what she hadn’t brought and told her she would march with it. So of course, Lee being Lee, as soon as she got out on the march and around the first corner out of his sight, she put it down.”

It stayed on his desk for the rest of his time there at the base because he knew he’d laugh at her audacity every time he saw it.” 

“That ain’t as funny as what he fuckin’ made you do a few weeks later in the mess hall,” Lee began, snickering immediately as Bish closed his eyes, reliving the mortifying memory. “This guy in our platoon, Ellis Bundy, there’s always one, ‘the guy’ as they’re known, and he didn’t follow Delaney’s orders to the letter, so he fuckin’ made him stand on the table and wave his arms while reciting the line “I’m a shit bird” over and fuckin’ over until told otherwise.  

“So Bish is fuckin’ killing himself laughing at him, cracking up, absolutely howling. Delaney spies it and roars, “Losa! On the table!” upon which he had to flap his arms and say “I’m a mocking shit bird” until he told him to get down! Inside, I was fuckin’ cry laughing at him, oh god!” 

“Ellis Bundy!” Bishop exclaimed, shaking his head. “That fool set off a goddamned live round in a tank one time, fucking deafened everybody in there, the fucking stupid cunt. Christ, he was a living shit show!” 

Hearing the stories of their miliary days warmed Emma, thinking it so lovely they had such a long history with one another. Friends for over twenty years, but as she’d learned from Lee herself, only married for eight after reconnecting many years after leaving the military.  

It was a beautiful thing, watching how in tune with one another they were, the party of four moving to the bar after their game, which Guero had won, and Lee and Emma had come in joint last place. Seeing a healthy marriage was something she wasn’t used to for the most part, of course only witnessing the awful abuse Marie had endured throughout her time captive within her home.  

Rocco’s hands had never reached for her with the same love that Bishop’s did to Lee, stroking her neck idly as she rested her head on his shoulder, listening to Guero tell her of his triumph following her Thai green curry recipe, little panic attacks aside.  

“Well, you ain’t ever gonna be as badass as Emma is in the kitchen, but there you are, you can do one thing at least now other than ignite chaos,” she commented, sipping her beer. “I swear, sugar. That fuckin’ thing you made with the bacon pieces, oh my god!” 

Emma thought back over her lunches made from leftovers she’d taken in recently, a box for Lee too unless it was a Friday, when the pair treated themselves to a delivery of burgers and fries. “The Bucatini all'Amatriciana?” 

“Yep! That's it!” Lee enthused, pointing across the table at her. “That one nearly made me get down on one knee and fuckin’ propose!” 

“And where would that have left me, sweetheart?” Bishop asked, entertained. 

“The spare room.” His wife’s statement roused a lot of laughter, Bishop furthering it. 

“Oh, great,” he rumbled, “you take a wife and I ain’t even allowed to watch. Fuck my life.” 

“Do I get to?” Guero asked, raising an eyebrow, Lee not answering for the excitement that followed after reading an alert on her phone.  

“Oh, baby look, they got last minute tickets for the midnight showing of The Exorcist at that little movie theatre just outside of town!”  

“Yeah? Get ‘em booked, we’re going,” Bishop nodded, Lee beginning to do exactly that. It had sold out prior to them deciding if they wanted to go or not, Lee putting her name down for email notifications should any cancellations arise. “Okay, there’s seven left. You guys wanna come with? I’ll get the tickets, y’all get the snacks.” 

Emma’s face lit up immediately. “Yes!” She then checked herself, turning to Guero. “Can we?” 

“Mmm, kinda wanted to call it a night after here. I’m tired,” he replied, his enthusiasm definitely not on par with that of his girlfriend.  

“Come on! You can sleep when you’re dead! Please, please, please?”  

He thought for a few minutes, Emma badgering at him some more before he finally relented. It might have been innocuous to anyone else, but Lee noticed it, just as she’d picked up on it in the past, too. Guero had a hard time telling Emma no and pretty much always caved to her wishes. With anyone else in his life, he’d have absolutely no problem with making his feelings known. A soft alarm sounded in her head, but she didn’t pay it further mind. 

Just over two hours later and they were sat in the packed out, independent movie theatre furnished with snacks and drinks, the iconic opening of the classic horror movie beginning to play, Guero wishing he had a coffee the size of the soda he held in order to stay awake. Halfway through the film, he found enough incentive, Emma repeatedly jumping out of her skin.  

“I swear,” he whispered, leaning close to her ear, his grin wide. “Watching you fucking crap your pants every five minutes is worth not being asleep for.”  

She nudged him with a soft elbow, offering him a kiss he happily granted her. It was close to 3am by the time they arrived home, Guero happy to faceplant the bed, glad outlaw hours meant he didn’t have to show his face until around 11am the following morning. As it turned out, though, Emma had other ideas.

Since I’m in the middle of creating prop prototypes, I thought I’d document making Baby here. Baby doll is one of Marcella’s dolls in the show Rag Dolly, a musical about Raggedy Ann. She is the the second doll to appear after Raggedy Andy. The original production had baby in 1920s garb, while according to one of the original scripts, the show is set in the Great Depression, meaning baby likely would have been dressed historically more like Shirley temple, rather than the drop waist which is too early a time period to fit (this is all my opinion, I just like historical fashion)

Judging by the fact that the show puts the dolls in the 1930s, I decided that the prop prototype needed a period accurate head, as well as costuming (that will come later) so I scoured eBay and came up with this:

This is an actual composition head from the 30s, which is likely what baby would have been. It has tin sleep eyes and is painted with oil paints. The problem? These were often painted with lead. Yikes.

I donned an air filtration mask and gloves and got to work sanding, this is after three hours

And after five hours: (I resorted to chipping very carefully at the paint with a box cutter, if you do this BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL.)

Now that the paint is off, you can prepare for filler and primer. I will be skipping back to the body however, since I don’t have paint supplies yet.

Take your head (please excuse my lack of continuity haha)

And set it on the table. Measure around the neck. mine was 11 inches, but this will work for any size. Divide that measurement in half to get the front neck measurement, and then in half again (you will be drawing a line from the fold of a piece of paper)

Draw a line from the fold. Make it into a curve. (This is the neck hole for the body) this is the only measurement I used. I held the head up to the paper several times and eyeballed how large the pattern should be.

Her shoulders are about an inch, and her limbs are drafted to fit the torso. The odd shaped hands are done to include stitched fingers later. The limbs are attached using doll joints, they are 45mm for the 19” body (19” without the head)

Is there any downtime with a dermal filler?

Most patients return to their regular activities immediately following their treatment. Some patients may experience temporary redness, bruising or minor swelling of the treated area in the first 24 to 48 hours following the treatment. It may be recommended to avoid physical exercise for the first 24 hours post treatment.

How does it feel?

Each patient will require different amounts of the product to obtain their ideal and natural results. Before your treatment, the targeted area will be cleaned, and a topical numbing cream may be applied to ensure your comfort. A small syringe will be used to inject a precise amount of filler beneath the skin. The injection itself feels kind of like a splinter, but if it’s done properly, the pain should go away right away. The lips may swell a little for a few hours after the procedure. It can feel a bit unsettling, but it should never be painful.

How long does a treatment take?

Your dermal filler procedure can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. This will depend on the area being treated, and the amount of filler required. If a topical numbing cream is used, you will need to wait approximately an hour for it to settle before the treatment can commence.

When will I notice results?

You will see a visible result immediately after injection. It may take up to 4 weeks for the filler to fully integrate into the tissue.  We advise our patients to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated after treatment, as hyaluronic-based fillers are water-binding. Results may last anywhere from 6-18 months depending on the type and amount of filler used.

When I said my new bass is already on the way I meant that it's already here, just not in playable form.

I'm replacing my old cheap piece of shit with a new cheap piece of shit, but me being me decided to go about it in the most annoying elaborate and exhausting way possible.

I went with straight-up copy of a Fender headstock, but the raw paddle headstock was slightly too small. I'd much rather have done this on a bandsaw, but I had to use a scroll saw. Fuck scroll saws by the way.

It's not shown in the photos, but I managed to improve the shape of the round bit at the end just a little. It still ended up a bit janky though.

The body was a real learning experience. I am *somewhat* experienced when it comes to both wood and paint, but I have never done anything like this before. I made a mistake by only sanding the body and then priming it raw and found out what no grain filler does to a mf. No idea how it'll turn out, because the second coat of white paint (allegedly off-white, but there's barely anything off about it) is drying as I type this.

The neck worked out pretty well so far. I was relieved that it was made from decent wood, was well shaped and easily the best part in the kit. Which is good, because the neck is by far the most important part in terms of playability. I decided to go with an oil finish, because it's much easier for a non-professional to pull off than a lacquer finish.

That's where we are for now.

I'm almost done! Now I only need to polish the body and neck, join and shim the neck to the body, shield the electronics compartment, remove the pots and pickup from the pickguard, shield the pick guard, reinstall the pots, solder an additional ground connection to the pots, install the bridge, install the tuners, install the strap buttons, install the pick guard (with pots attached), install the pickups, straighten the neck with the truss rod, level the frets, file the frets, polish the frets, clean the fretboard, oil the fretboard, put on the strings, readjust the truss rod under string tension, set up pickup height, intonate the bridge, set up saddle height and I'm good to go. Easy.
