touch ups and downs
Tumblr media
sypnosis. the usual chaos fades away when se-mi, the captivating actress, steps into your makeup station. her playful teasing and effortless charm unravel your carefully built composure, leaving you flustered. an unexpected gesture makes you confront feelings you hadn’t anticipated, leaving you questioning if this connection could be more than fleeting, one that might change everything.

the backstage area of the set was its own ecosystem, a controlled, buzzing chaos where the cast and crew functioned like cogs in a well-oiled, frenzied machine. green tracksuits were tossed onto racks, props were lost and found within minutes, and coffee cups piled up in forgotten corners. yet somehow, amidst the mess, you managed to carve out your own calm at your makeup station. it wasn’t much, just a small table cluttered with palettes, brushes, and bottles of setting spray.
your mornings were always the same, actors trickling in, each with their own quirks and complaints. today started with thanos, who planted himself in your chair with a dramatic groan.
“y/n-ah, you have no idea how much my body hurts,” he grumbled, stretching his arms as if he’d just run a marathon.
"maybe tone it down a bit and try not to act like such a daredevil." you teased, dipping your brush into some fake blood. "hey, i was trying to stay in character!” he protested, puffing his chest out like a proud schoolboy.
“your character dies in episode seven. what exactly were you preparing for?” nam-gyu chimed in from across the room, already in his disheveled tracksuit and inspecting himself in the mirror.
the two men launched into a mock argument while you worked, and you couldn’t help but laugh. the cast was like a dysfunctional family, always bickering, but never seriously. you’d become fond of their antics, even when they slowed you down.
when min-su walked in, grumbling about his hair as usual, the chaos only increased. "this look makes me look like i’m auditioning for a k-pop parody group,” he complained, plopping into the chair next to nam-gyu's.
myung-gi, who was already seated and scrolling on his phone, didn’t even look up before saying, “that’s an improvement from your regular look." the room erupted in laughter as min-su glared at him. “don’t make me mess up your makeup, hyung.”
“not before i do,” you muttered, adjusting his hair until it sat perfectly. “there. now you look less like a coconut.”
“gee, thanks,” min-su said with mock offense, though he grinned at you.
Tumblr media
as the morning chaos gave way to quieter moments, you felt your heart do its usual nervous flip when se-mi entered the room. even amidst the energy of the set, se-mi had a presence that demanded attention. everything about her, her walk, her gaze, the effortless way she carried herself. they were magnetic.
“is it my turn yet, artist-nim?” she called with a playful nickname she’d teasingly given you, her voice cutting through the hum of activity like a soft melody. you swallowed hard and nodded, motioning to her chair. “y-yeah, come on over.”
"ready to work your magic and make me pretty?" she asks, settling into the chair with a grin. her fingers sweep through her short hair, brushing it back effortlessly. "pretty? you barely need me for that," you blurt out with a nervous snort, before immediately freezing, your cheeks heating up as the weight of your words sinks in.
"oh?" se-mi tilts her head back suddenly, her eyes locking onto yours. the unexpected movement makes you jump, nearly stumbling over your own feet.
"you're still nervous today," she observes, her voice light but her tone teasing. her gaze shifts to your reflection in the mirror, and her smirk deepens. "i can tell."
“i’m not nervous.” you lied, picking up a brush and focusing intently on your palette. she teased, leaning forward slightly. “then why are your hands shaking?”
your breath caught as you realized she was right. you forced yourself to steady your grip, determined not to let her fluster you any more than she already had. “just… stay still,” you managed, your voice quieter than usual.
as you leaned in to contour her cheekbones, se-mi tilted her head slightly, her smirk deepening. “you’re really good at this, you know,” she said, her tone softer now. “but you don’t give yourself enough credit.”
your heart skipped a beat, and you bit the inside of your cheek to keep from blurting something stupid. “thanks..” you muttered, with a soft smile, focusing on blending the makeup perfectly.
for a moment, the usual backstage chaos seemed to blur into the background. the distant chatter and clatter of equipment faded, replaced by the steady, deafening drumbeat of your own heartbeat pounding in your ears. it was just the two of you, the air thick with an unspoken tension that made it impossible to focus on anything else.
“you’re blushing” se-mi whispered, breaking the spell. you pulled back abruptly, your face burning. “am not!” you said, though your voice betrayed you.
se-mi chuckled, a low, melodic sound that made your stomach do flips. “cute..” she said under her breath, just loud enough for you to hear.
Tumblr media
the day moved forward, and with each passing hour, you grew more aware of the fact that it was se-mi’s final scene. she was one of the last actors to wrap, and the air backstage felt bittersweet. the rest of the cast had taken turns congratulating her, but when it came to your turn, you found yourself hesitating.
you watched from the monitors as she delivered her final scene, her performance so raw and emotional that it left a lump in your throat. when the director called cut, applause erupted on set, and se-mi smiled, wiping away tears as the crew cheered.
you were waiting at your station when she walked back, still dabbing at her eyes with a tissue. “you okay?” you asked softly, holding out a pack of makeup wipes.
“yeah,” she said, her voice shaky but steady. “it just… doesn't feel real, you know?”
you nodded, unsure of what to say. instead, you focused on helping her clean off the remnants of her makeup and splatters of fake blood on her face, your hands moving with practiced precision.
“you were incredible,” you said after a moment, your voice barely above a whisper. se-mi looked at you, her gaze soft but intense. “thanks,” she said. “that means a lot coming from you.”
you hesitated, then blurted, “i’m really going to miss you.” her eyebrows lifted in surprise, but her smile quickly returned. “oh? gonna miss my face in your chair every day?”
“not just that,” you admitted, fiddling with the edge of the makeup wipe in your hand. “i’ll miss… you. it’s been nice having you around.”
se-mi studied you for a long moment, her expression unreadable. then, without a word, she reached over to the counter, grabbed a pen, and scribbled something on the edge of a makeup chart. she folded it neatly and handed it to you.
“what’s this?” you asked, your hands trembling slightly as you took it. “my number,” she said simply, her tone warm but teasing. “call me sometime, y/n. i think you’re cute.” your jaw dropped, and she leaned in, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “but don’t tell anyone, okay? gotta keep my cool image intact.”
she winked and walked off before you could respond, leaving you frozen in place with the paper clutched tightly in your hand. the chaos of backstage continued around you, but all you could focus on was the faint scent of se-mi’s perfume lingering in the air and the fluttering in your chest.

“wait, why are you buying lingerie? isn’t yuta leaving in like 3 days?” your friend asks you as you both decided to shop around for a set of lingerie to prepare for a film that your boyfriend was oh so excited to make.
as you both walked through the last couple of aisles, you find a gorgeous black and pink set. you already knew yuta would go insane over it, already imagining the different positions and scenarios he’d play out for you.
lately, yuta’s been into cnc play. something that he was so unsure and insecure about; but when the topic came up, he brought it up to you. you were always open to trying new things with yuta, as long as you both knew where you stood, and that there was a line.
“girl come look, oh my god…” you hold up the piece for you friend to see, watching the way her eyes shift to the corset area.
“good luck walking normally for the next week. he’s gonna fuck your brains out!” she says, almost too loud for the crowd.
you pick out your size and check out to head home. you throw your bags in the car, finally getting a chance to text your man.
my yuta 🤍: hey baby, i’m on my way home. i’m gonna stop at target really fast
my yuta 🤍: are you home?
y/n: hi baby!!!!!!!!! i’m not home yet
y/n: i’m almost there tho
my yuta 🤍: okay gimme like 20 minutes bb
y/n: okay :3
you pull into your driveway, grabbing your things and rushing inside to hurry into your new set. you quickly showered and did your hair, spraying it to hold the wet hair look. you rubbed on body oil followed by a body shimmer, yuta’s favorite thing you do. you sprayed perfume on your ankles, wrists and neck, wherever yuta would be closest to you.
you also put on a touch of makeup, as yuta loved when you wore makeup, just so he can watch it run down your face when he fucks your throat.
after 20 minutes of getting yourself ready for your man, you unlock the front door, running up the stairs for yuta to see you waiting on your knees in the middle of the bed. you calmed your breathing, nervousness clouding your entire body when you hear the front door slowly open.
the front door was never unlocked unless something was going on— and this had yuta’s blood rushing, knowing you were home with the door open already for him.
“baby? i’m home, why’s the door unlocked?” he yells for you, getting no answer— expecting him to walk upstairs looking for you. you hear him putting some bags down, listening to the jingling of keys and shoes being thrown around.
“my love, i’m not playing this game.” he sighs. you hear him finally walking up the stairs, blood rushing to your ovaries and making your head spin in excitement. he opens your bedroom door, taking in the view before him. you’re on your knees in the middle of the silk covered king bed, with a pink maid lingerie set on, your wet hair almost coming down to your breasts, shifting with every deep breath you take.
you hurriedly finish setting up the camera on the chair across from bed, making sure your hair and outfit looks perfect— if you’re posting this on twitter, it has to be astounding.
you rush to get back into position, hearing yuta’s footsteps approaching. he nears the room, leaving the door completely open. his gaze darkens, curiosity at the scene before him is making his cock hard. he can only wonder what’ll happen next.
“fuckin’ hell. this what you were doing? look at you, pretty girl. is this new?” he walks up to you, reaching for the straps on your fabric, admiring the way your clean skin is perfectly suited by the set you’ve had on.
“all for you, baby. wanted it to be a surprise when you got home. i remember you mentioned you wanted to try cnc, so i got excited.” you breathily laugh. yuta’s fingers run up your neck and down to the valley of your breasts.
“yeah? good memory, baby. what do you say i rip this off you and pound your pretty cunt, hm?” his long hair bounces off his shoulders when he stands up and undresses himself. slides off his white top, his black trousers following suite.
he doesn’t notice the camera at first, but when he catches you looking at the phone on the chair every 20 seconds to make sure it hasn’t fell, his cock (impossibly) gets harder and harder.
“yuta, aren’t you tired from work?” you pretend to push him away from you, but yuta doesn’t budge. he leans over your smaller figure, planting a kiss on your forehead.
the smell of his car is what’s following his body, the new car scent making your head spin. the cologne he wears makes compliment to his aesthetic, edgy and mysterious— with notes of tobacco and ocean breeze. you catch a tiny bit of vanilla as he moves away from you. the mix of fragrances makes your mind fuzzy.
“never too tired to fuck you,” he continues demandingly, cupping your jaw to get a better view of your nervous look. his shoulders are tense and you notice the sweat beginning to form around his chest. “no, yuta. i don’t want to,”
“don’t fight me baby. you’re only making this worse for yourself,” his large hands press your back down onto the mattress, spreading your thighs to kiss around your heat. his teeth magically unbutton the body suit you struggled to clasp together. amazed, you moan out when you feel his teeth graze your cunt through your thin lace panties. he pushes your thighs apart as he kisses and licks you through the thin material.
letting go of your legs, he rips your panties off and licks a long stripe from the top to the bottom of your clit. he sucks at the sensitive area, whimpering and gasping at the taste of you.
your pussy clenches and convulses around his tongue while your thighs attempt to shut around his long haired head. his brown hair is damp with sweat, using his free hand to brush his hair back. he bites at your clit, making your legs twitch. “yuta, stop— please,” you whimper with watery eyes while your orgasm threatens to approach.
he only groans in response, sucking harder and flicking his tongue faster up and down your entire cunt. your orgasm approaches; you release all over the area where a beard would sit.
his stronger hands make impact with your pussy, your body jolting in response. “stop fucking moving. i’m gonna use you how i see fit, am i clear, y/n?”
“but i-“
“but i don’t care. don’t make me tie you down.”
his dark eyes lock into yours, making your heart jump in fear and excitement for what’s about to come. your legs force themselves open while yuta strokes himself slightly and lines his cock up with your soaked, sore cunt. in one thrust, he’s all the way in, giving yourself no time to adjust. he places his hand on your mouth to block out all sound from you. “yeah, keep that fuckin’ mouth shut. only thing you’re good for is this pussy.”
he lands another sharp slap on your cunt, making you cry out. your back arches upward and you could’ve swore you just saw your brain from how hard your eyes rolled back. “gonna toss out your birth control and fill you up every. fucking. day.” with every word, he pulls out completely, then thrusts harder back into you. your body shivers and your toes curl at the contact. with your back arched up, he takes the opportunity to remove his hand from your mouth and undo your entire set, stripping you completely naked.
after he’s satisfied with the scene before him, he slaps your right tit, then your left, then the right. the muscle turns red and you wince out in pain. he leans down to suck and lick at the area, earning a gasp from you.
“don’t cum in me, please!” you beg. you absolutely need him to breed you— it’s a staple in your’s and yuta’s sex life. it wasn’t sex if he didn’t full you up by the end of it.
“shut the fuck up. the last time i checked, sluts like you don’t care about getting pregnant, hm? they just sleep around and wait for someone to empty their cum into their loose pussies, yeah? that what you are?”
“n-no.” your eyebrows furrow in anger at the words he throws at you. the expression on your face doesn’t match the expression your pussy displays. you’re throbbing and swallowing him in, unknowingly cumming around him for the -nteenth time.
“yeah, you are. say it with me.” his tone softens as he talks you through the most vulgar words, waiting for you to say the words.
“i’ll call someone if you don’t let me go.”
“who are you gonna call, darling? the cops? i’ll make them watch.” he slaps the left side of your face, leaving a red handprint on your glossy skin.
“open your legs. don’t make me repeat myself,” you force your shaky legs open while yuta continues his assault on your sore pussy. the lewd moans he lets out makes your head fuzzy. “so fucking tight. even after i fucked you for hours,”
his thrusts slow, then they continue at a rough and fast pace. his fingers are hooked into the right side of your mouth like a dental clamp. your teeth are covered in your own arousal.
he repositions the both of you to where you’re both facing the camera. he cups your jaw, making you watch him fuck you through the camera. you connected your phone to the tv, so you’re both seen on the screen.
“say hi to your fans, bitch. we’re on live.”
somehow, yuta managed to switch to a livestream, the comments being flooded with a sweaty face emoji and thirsty comments. he pounds into you while you’re both whining and whimpering, holding your hair back to push you deeper onto his length.
“n-no, yuta, let me go!”
you’re cut off by a sharp slap on your ass. “one more chance. say hi.”
“h- fuck, i can’t!”
you watch the views go up dramatically, while yuta smiles manically.

the views only increase, making your heart clench at nervousness.
“say hi to jaehyun for me.”
“i can’t—“ another slap to your right ass cheek, already forming a bruise. he pulls you off of him, watching yours and his cum drip down his cock and your thighs. “h-hi jaehyun,”
jaehyun: hello pretty girl
“there you go. wasn’t so hard was it?” yuta leans over to grab the camera and angle it at your face. it’s at selfie level as you stare at your own arousal on your face and the mascara on your cheeks. your lips are puffy and red with strands of hair on your face.
you look like yuta’s bitch.

Everyday Makeup Routine 💄🪞💋✨
Primer: Apply a lightweight, mattifying primer to create a smooth base for your makeup and control excess oil.
Foundation or Tinted Moisturizer: Even out your skin tone with a light layer of foundation or a tinted moisturizer that matches your skin shade. (You don't always need foundation. I only wear foundation if I am going for a full glam look. Other wise, I use concealer and tinted moisturizer on days my skin is not cooperating.)
Concealer: Use a creamy concealer to cover any blemishes, redness, or under-eye circles.
Setting Powder: Gently dust a translucent setting powder to lock in your base and reduce shine.
Blush: Add a natural flush to your cheeks with a soft blush in a shade that complements your skin tone.
Eyebrows: Fill in and shape your eyebrows using a brow pencil or powder for a polished look.
Eyeshadow: Apply neutral eyeshadow shades for a subtle enhancement of your eyelids.
Eyeliner: A thin line of brown or black eyeliner along the upper lash line can define your eyes.
Mascara: Coat your lashes with mascara to open up your eyes and give them a more awake appearance.
Lip Color: Choose a lip color that suits your style, whether it's a nude shade, a soft pink, or a subtle berry.
Additional Steps for a Polished Makeup Look:
Contour and Highlight: Use a contour powder to define your cheekbones, jawline, and nose. Then, apply a subtle highlighter to the high points of your face for a radiant glow.
Setting Spray: Finish your makeup by spritzing a setting spray to lock everything in place and give your skin a fresh, dewy finish.
Lip Liner: To enhance the shape of your lips and prevent lipstick from feathering, use a lip liner that matches your chosen lip color.
Lipstick or Lip Gloss: Apply your preferred lip product, whether it's a classic lipstick for a bold look or a lip gloss for a more natural shine.
Finishing Touch: Take a moment to blend everything together and ensure there are no harsh lines or uneven patches.
Product Suggestions:
Primer: "Mattifying Pore Minimizer" - Helps create a smooth canvas and control shine.

omg maybe some soft angst bcs evelyn overworks herself and callum is so worried
For A Fortnight There We Were:
A LITTLE ONE SHOT SINCE YOU ALL SEEM FERAL FOR THEM AND I LOVE IT AND ENCOURAGE IT
Tumblr media
tw: mentions of drug use/addiction
"Hi everyone, I'm Evelyn Shaw, and I'm so happy to finally be introducing you to the new Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil." She held the tube to her lips and pressed a cheeky kiss to the side. "It's infused with cherry oil which nourishes my lips after long days on set and even longer nights on the romantic streets of Paris."
"Cut! Let's reset and run again." Evelyn yawned as the camera turned off then looked up as her makeup artist approached with an eye pencil.
"Do I look as shitty as I feel?" Now in London, she had been in Paris this morning, finishing fittings for fashion week, The Hague three days ago for an engagement on behalf of the United Nations Women's Conference and she was due back on set for House of the Dragon by the end of the week.
"No. You look glossy and juicy," Nicole teased.
"Let me get some spray on the fly aways." Ev closed her eyes as her hair stylist spritzed a toothbrush and brushed it over her hair.
"Have we heard anything from Callum yet?" She was headed straight to a meet and greet at the Dior store in Mayfair after this before she had just enough time to change for the launch dinner she was hosting as the newly minted Global Ambassador for Dior Beauty.
"Mark was on the phone finalizing your filming schedule for next week so it didn't conflict with your brother's graduation so I'll flag him when he gets back," Nicole offered.
She hadn't seen Callum in almost a week. There were unanswered texts and calls and a red circle on her FaceTime app.
Evelyn felt awful about it but her first trip for work since the pandemic was proving to have more of a strain on her relationship than she thought it would. She was used to using work to distract herself from her ex-husband and saying yes to everything so she didn't have to be at home. Now, with Callum, that was all she wanted to do. And she knew it was perfectly in her control to change it but she couldn't find the right way to convince her brain this man was different.
"Alright, Evelyn, let's do more sultry than cute this time." She shook the fog from her mind and stared down the camera.
"Hi everyone, I'm Evelyn Shaw, and I'm going to let you on my secret for endlessly kissable lips..."
----
She kept her sunglasses on as she stepped out of the car and let the screams and camera clicks wash over her. She blew kisses and waved as her security ushered her into the store and the door closed behind her with a sigh. Evelyn made an extra effort to shake the hand of all the staff that were in the store and hugged the handful of Dior executives that she had gotten to know during the process of launching the lip oil.
"Ev, let's get some candids of you looking at the new collection over here." Bleary eyed, she slowly rifled through the racks as her stylist took a few photos.
"Hey, Mark?" she called for her assistant as everyone made final preparations before opening the doors. "Do we have any..." she brushed her finger over the tip of her nose, asking for a hit.
"I do, but you were going to stop now that you got out of that relationship, right?"
"Yeah but I'm about to fall over and just need to get through tonight and I'll be fine." They had done this song and dance with her and cocaine before. The habit stopped and started in fits. "A pinky nail. That's all I'm asking for."
"Not here, Ev. Go to the dressing room and I'll bring it back." She kissed his cheek and headed to the back, reapplying her lipstick and fluffing her hair before pacing around the room for a few laps. Finally, there was a knock at the door.
"Fucking finally, Mark, I'm-" She opened the door and it wasn't Mark. "Cal."
"It's been a minute, Ev. You pick up on old habits while you were gone?" He wasn't sure if she had read his message or listened to his voicemails since she'd left. They had gotten increasingly desperate so he hoped she hadn't. But if she was using again, it was no wonder she wasn't responsive.
"No." Her lip quivered. "I'm just exhausted, Callum." Hiding away with him wasn't an option anymore. The safety of his bed wasn't an option anymore.
"There's other ways for us to fix that. Ways that don't involve you pushing me away and letting those vultures back into your life." She fell into a chair and dropped her head into her hands.
"Everyone wants a piece of me and I don't have enough to go around." There were legal battles over dividing assets. Magazines and podcasts that spent their time speculating on the true reason behind her failed marriage and spending hours and pages devoted to convincing someone, anyone, that Callum was a controlling manipulator who had tricked her into cheating with him for status. Photographers who lined every street she walked and yelled obscenities and tried to snag a shard of her broken soul. "You're my drug, Callum. You make the voices stop when I'm with you. But I can't always be with you."
"But that's why we learn how we communicate best. We call or we text or send each other dumb photos to make it feel like we are always with each other." He sat down on the floor in front of her and put her hands on his cheeks. "I'm right here, Ev. And I'm not going anywhere. I'm not him."
"I'm sorry I didn't call. I wanted to. I just didn't know what to say." For all the benefits quarantining together had offered for their relationship, it had also introduced certain complexities. Introduced reliance and dependencies and they hadn't learned how to be apart. Let alone how to be successful at it. "I'm still getting used to things being normal. To having you as part of my normal."
"I'm sorry I didn't come find you sooner."
"Promise you'll always find me? Even when I'm just lost in my own head?" He kissed her forehead.
"Especially then, Evvie."

that being said I need oily face makeup recs
I’ve been using the elf power grip and I’m almost out and it does a good job of keeping my makeup on but it doesn’t really help with oil control so I was looking into the one size beauty secure the sweat one but ppl say it’s finicky like you have to put it on a very specific way or it pills and I don’t have the time/patience bro 😭 I already use a mattifying foundation and powder but I still get shiny after like two hours so I’m like okay let me change up some other stuff to help
I use the elf stay all day setting spray in the blue bottle bc lots of ppl have said the blue bottle formula is more mattifying and works for oily skin and yeah it’s good it does the job I use it between layers to melt my makeup together and at the end but still get some separation and shine so any suggestions?? 🎤

heyyy
i'm so boredddd
time for random questions
what's your🫵 skincare routine? 🧖‍♀️
what products do you🫵 use?🧼🧴
(might go around asking these questions at random avatar writers hehe)
🫵🫵🫵
hiiii my 🫵 anon hehe. how are you love?
ooohhh i love sharing products! i’m gonna preface this by saying i have very oily, acne prone skin so 😀 and i’m gonna say my skincare n makeup routine bc why not!
1. to cleanse in the am, i use garnier micellar water on a cotton round (i’m always running late/never have time to do a full face wash lol)
2. then, i like to use panoxyl’s oil control moisturizer (has spf 30 which is great, i kill two birds with one stone using a combined moisturizer/spf). if i know i’m going to be in the sun for longer than 30 min, i also apply the skinscience sunscreen (it’s very glowy tho so i’m not positive it’s great for my oily skin lol)
3. i recently purchased the elf power grip primer (the new pink one with niacinamide) and it’s nice! so i’ll use some of that and press it in, don’t rub since it has that tackiness feel to it and you don’t want the product to pill
4. then i’ll either spot conceal if i’m in a big rush w/ the dior forever skin correct, or if i have time, apply charlotte tilbury’s beautiful skin foundation (it’s pretty lightweight which is nice, especially in the summer)
5. for brows, i love the nyx eyebrow pencil. it’s a staple for me, i’ve been using it for years now. for contour, i also recently picked up the elf halo glow contour beauty wand, and it’s a very good dupe for the charlotte tilbury contour wand. dare i say better?
6. for mascara, honestly any drugstore mascara is good. i also like the little mini “travel” sized ones from sephora, since you’re supposed to replace mascara every month anyway. might as well spend $13 on the mini instead of $28 for the full size one since it’s getting tossed at the end of the month regardless!
7. for powder, maybelline fit me (the loose one) is great, and givenchy makes a good loose powder too but it’s $$. setting spray i like urban decay’s all nighter, but i don’t use setting spray every day.
8. at night, i always double cleanse. it is essential. i use an oil cleanser from the dermatology group i belong to, it’s pretty nice. it removes all the mineral spf that’s sitting on top of the skin, as well as makeup. then for cleanser, i like cerave’s foaming facial cleanser, or their acne control cleanser. both are nice.
9. then i use the advanced snail 96 mucin power essence after cleansing, slimy yes but it makes your skin look dewy and glowy. and after that i apply a moisturizer & retinol from the derm group i belong to :) and then eye cream & lash serum!
wowee that’s a lot hahaha sorry for info dumping i just love talking abt products, this was such a fun ask <3

Hi everyone. This is a very old post, but it's blown up again recently. I actually haven't worked for Kiehl's for almost a year now, but the knowledge I learned about skincare products has stayed with me, and I want to come in again to follow up with the very common comments and FAQs this post has gotten:
1. "What is the oil controlling moisturizer that mattifies?" The Kiehl's Oil Eliminator 24-hour Moisturizer in the men's section. I will warn you that it won't stand up to Sahara-level dryness, but there is also a toner in the same line if you need the same results with a more hardcore moisturizer to put on top of it. The toner can also be used as a setting spray if you like wearing makeup.
2. "Don't buy all these products just use the men's 5-in-1's!" I can not tell you hard enough how much you Should Not Use Multiple-in-1's. The basic chemistry of it just does not work. You can't make shampoo also be conditioner, or also be body wash, or also be face wash. They have completely different chemical makeups for a reason and if you try to add others you create a weird concoction of sludge that does barely anything. It might wash and moisturize your hair a LITTLE BIT but nowhere near the amount you need it to to have any real effect. And there is a real reason why body and fash wash are separate, it's not capitalism. The skin on your body is a lot thicker and more oily than the comparatively thin and dry skin on your face, do not use body wash on your face. And shampoo needs to be a LOT more stripping to clean hair, which is basically a pile of really thin dead keratin strands that trap dust and grime like its their job. Keratin can stand up to that much, your skin can't. Don't buy multiples.
3. "Don't buy from beauty stores, just get the cheap shit at walmart" once again, I can not stress enough that you Should Not Do That if you don't have a working knowledge of how ingredients work in skincare products. The reason those products are cheap is often because they use really cheap and often irritating, acne-causing, and environmentally disgusting binding ingredients over the responsibly-sourced and gentle ones. You can absolutely find cheaper products in department stores that will do the same thing if not more for you than what you get in Sephora, but don't play with fire if you don't know WHY it's so cheap. Even things as simple as squalane could cost 60 dollars somewhere and 12 in a walmart, and it's because cheap squalane is sourced from hunted shark fins, while the expensive stuff is from olives. You can already see the difference in why you shouldn't just assume cheaper is the same and I haven't even mentioned skin effects.
4. "Scents/parabens/sulfates are always bad" not necessarily. Not all added scents or parabens or sulfates are made equally. If you have really oil-capturing hair and work a grimey job, you're gonna need a shampoo with sulfates in it or you wont get it all off, for example. It really depends on what type it is and what your lifestyle and individual needs are. Don't villainize a whole group of ingredients just because they aren't good for a generalized group of people.
Also yes, anti-aging is a scam. BUT a lot of "anti-aging" products are good for other things. Retinol serums are a genuine godsend for people with persistent acne that is otherwise resistant to treatment.
Being the only guy who works in a beauty store is fucking hilarious sometimes. Im the only one who can sell our shitty beard shampoo and a not insignificant amount of our customers think im untrustworthy. According to my coworkers i use every mens product we have so they can get dudes to buy a shaving cream. Trying to explain to people that theres no difference between "men's" and "women's" products is like talking to a brick wall. Ive had multiple women get angry with me for sampling them out one of our "men's" moisturizers when they specifically said they wanted a mattifying one to control oil and that's the best one we have for those two things. I still think about the guy who came in asking if we had "masks for men." I contemplate ending it all every time someone returns a completely unused product that they absolutely refuse to try just because it either says or doesnt say "for men" on it. 90% of the time its the perfect product for them. I had a lady who was willing to buy a worse product for her needs that was more expensive just so it wouldnt say it was for men. Are you ever tired? Are you ever exhausted? These are the same kinds of people who say that im the one whos obsessed with gendering everything because im trans.

Achieve Flawless Skin with the Right Products
A flawless makeup look starts with a smooth base, and the key to achieving that is choosing the right Foundation Avon and skincare essentials. Whether you want a natural finish or full coverage, using the right foundation along with a hydrating Avon Moisturiser can enhance your skin’s appearance and keep it healthy.
Choosing the Right Foundation for Your Skin The right foundation not only enhances your natural beauty but also protects and nourishes your skin. When selecting a foundation, consider your skin type—whether it's oily, dry, combination, or sensitive. A lightweight, hydrating formula works best for dry skin, while matte options help control excess oil.
For a natural and long-lasting look, always start with clean, well-prepped skin. Applying a primer before foundation helps in creating a smooth canvas and improves longevity. Blending the foundation well with a brush or sponge ensures an even, streak-free finish.
The Importance of Hydration in Skincare Keeping your skin hydrated is essential for a glowing complexion. A high-quality Avon Moisturiser helps lock in moisture, making your skin soft and supple. Hydrated skin allows makeup to sit better and prevents a cakey or flaky look.
Using a moisturiser before applying foundation creates a smooth and even surface, allowing the foundation to blend effortlessly. It also helps prevent dryness and irritation, especially during colder months.
How to Create a Perfect Base A flawless base requires the right combination of skincare and makeup products. Start by cleansing your face to remove dirt and excess oil. Follow up with a lightweight moisturiser to nourish your skin. After the moisturiser absorbs, apply a primer to help foundation adhere better.
When applying foundation, use a small amount and build up coverage gradually. Blend it evenly, ensuring there are no harsh lines. Setting it with a light powder or setting spray can help your makeup last longer.
Long-Lasting Makeup Tips To keep your makeup fresh throughout the day, follow these simple steps:
Always prep your skin with a good moisturiser before applying foundation. Use a lightweight, breathable foundation that suits your skin type. Set your makeup with a translucent powder to reduce shine. Reapply a hydrating mist during the day to refresh your look without disturbing your makeup.
Conclusion Achieving a flawless makeup look is all about using the right products and techniques. A well-hydrated and prepped face allows foundation to blend seamlessly, giving you a natural and polished finish. By investing in good skincare and makeup essentials, you can maintain a radiant and healthy complexion all day long.

How Face Makeup Sprays Help Set Your Makeup All Day Long
Achieving long-lasting makeup is a common goal for many, whether it’s for a special event or an all-day look. Face makeup sprays, also known as setting sprays, have become a crucial part of any makeup routine to ensure your makeup stays fresh and intact throughout the day. In this article, we’ll explore how makeup setting sprays work, their benefits, and what to consider when choosing the right one.
What is a Makeup Setting Spray?
A makeup setting spray is a lightweight mist designed to be applied after your makeup to lock it in place. It helps control oil, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and prevent makeup from fading or smudging. Setting sprays typically contain ingredients that create a fine, breathable film over your makeup, helping it stay intact for hours. Whether you're dealing with oily skin, dry patches, or simply want your makeup to look fresh all day, a setting spray can make a significant difference.
Benefits of Using Face Makeup Sprays
Long-Lasting Makeup  One of the primary benefits of using a makeup setting spray is its ability to extend the longevity of your makeup. Setting sprays create a barrier that prevents makeup from breaking down due to factors like humidity, sweat, or excessive oil production. This ensures your foundation, blush, and eyeshadow stay intact throughout the day.
Controls Oil and Reduces Shine  For individuals with oily skin, makeup often tends to slide off or become greasy throughout the day. Setting sprays help control excess oil production, ensuring your makeup doesn’t become a shiny mess by mid-day. Ingredients like mattifying agents in setting sprays absorb excess oil and keep the skin looking fresh and matte.
Prevents Makeup Creasing and Smudging  Setting sprays work wonders in preventing makeup from settling into fine lines and creases, especially around the eyes and mouth. This is particularly beneficial for those who wear concealer or foundation, as it helps maintain a smooth, even finish without any unwanted creases.
Boosts Makeup Freshness  Makeup setting sprays can give your skin a refreshing, dewy look, especially if you’re aiming for a glowing complexion. Hydrating setting sprays, in particular, help revive dry or dull skin, leaving it looking more radiant and fresh.
How to Use Makeup Setting Spray
Apply After Makeup Application  After completing your makeup routine—foundation, concealer, blush, and eyeshadow—hold the setting spray about 8-10 inches away from your face and spritz evenly. Avoid over-saturating your face, as this could make your makeup feel heavy or sticky.
Use Sparingly on Oily Areas  If you have oily skin, focus the setting spray on the areas where oil production tends to be highest, such as the T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin). For dry skin, apply the spray evenly across the entire face for added hydration and a more luminous finish.
Let It Dry Naturally  Allow the setting spray to air-dry naturally instead of wiping it off or rubbing it into the skin. This ensures the product creates a light, breathable film that sets your makeup in place.
Factors to Consider When Choosing a Setting Spray
Skin Type: Consider your skin type when selecting a setting spray. Matte finish sprays work best for oily skin, while dewy or hydrating sprays suit dry or combination skin.
Finish: Depending on your desired look—matte, dewy, or natural—select a setting spray that caters to your needs.
Ingredients: Look for setting sprays with ingredients that address specific concerns, such as oil control, hydration, or long-wear properties.
Price: Setting sprays come in a wide range of prices, so choose one that fits your budget without compromising on quality.
Face makeup sprays play a crucial role in ensuring your makeup stays fresh and intact all day long. By preventing smudging, reducing shine, and extending the longevity of your makeup, these sprays have become a must-have in many beauty routines. For those looking to find the perfect makeup setting spray, Character Cosmetics offers a variety of options designed to suit different skin types and preferences. Investing in a high-quality setting spray can make all the difference in achieving a flawless, long-lasting makeup look.

Makeup can feel overwhelming, especially for beginners. But makeup, at its core, is just about enhancing your natural beauty and having fun with it. Whether you’re looking to create a simple everyday look or glam up for a special occasion, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know, from choosing the right makeup products to applying them in the right order.
How to Choose the Right Makeup Products
The first step to successful makeup application is choosing the right products that align with your skin requirements. Here’s how you can do that:
Understand Your Skin Tone
Your skin tone (light, medium, or dark) and undertone (cool, warm, or neutral) play a huge role in selecting makeup. Here’s how you can find out your undertone:

Choose foundations, concealers, and lipsticks that complement your undertone for a more natural look.
Consider Your Skin Type
If you have oily skin, go for matte, oil-free makeup products that can help you control the excess shine.
For dry skin, look for hydrating formulas. Choose products that include hydrating products like hyaluronic acid.
Combination skin may require a mix of products to balance both oily and dry areas.
Sensitive skin benefits from hypoallergenic and fragrance-free options.
Before fully committing to a product, do a quick patch test to make sure it doesn’t irritate your skin. This small step can save you from unnecessary breakouts or reactions.
What’s the Right Sequence to Apply Makeup?
Following the correct order can make your makeup look more polished and last longer. Let’s break it down:
Step 1: Skincare
A good makeup look starts with proper skin prep. Always cleanse, tone, and moisturise your face. Don’t skip on the SPF—it’s your skin’s best friend, even under makeup. Think of skincare as the primer for your primer!
Step 2: Base
Makeup products like primers, foundations, and concealers are used as a base to create an even skin tone and blur out any form of redness or pigmentation.
Primer: Apply primer to create a smooth base and help your makeup last longer. Choose one that suits your skin concerns. Mattifying for oily skin or hydrating for dry skin.

Foundation: Use foundation makeup that matches your skin tone and blend it evenly using a brush, makeup sponge, or your fingers. Apply the foundation sparingly for a natural finish, and don’t forget to blend it down to your neck for a seamless look.

Concealer: Use a concealer of a shade lighter than your foundation to cover dark circles, blemishes, or redness. Pat it gently into the skin instead of rubbing.

Step 3: Adding Dimension
Dimension-adding products are ones that add a touch of glamour to your look. These may include products like blush and highlighter.
Blush: A little blush on the apples of your cheeks can add a healthy glow. Powder blushes work well for oily skin, while cream blushes are great for dry or mature skin.

Highlighter: Use highlighter sparingly on areas where light naturally hits your face, like the tops of your cheekbones, brow bones, and the bridge of your nose. This will give you a radiant, dewy look.

Step 4: Eye and Lip Makeup
Eyes: Start with a neutral eyeshadow for a simple look. Add a bit of eyeliner close to your lash line to define your eyes, and finish with mascara to open them up. Waterproof mascara is great for long wear but can require extra care when removing.

Lips: Choose a lipstick or gloss that suits your mood. For beginners, nude or pink shades are versatile and simple to pull off. Use a lip liner to define your lips and prevent the color from bleeding.

End your makeup routine with a setting spray.
How To Remove Makeup
Removing makeup is just as important as applying it. Leaving makeup on overnight can clog pores, cause breakouts, and even lead to premature aging. Here’s how to do it effectively:
Double Cleansing: Start with an oil-based cleanser or micellar water to break down makeup, especially waterproof products. Follow up with a gentle face wash to clean your skin thoroughly.
Focus on Delicate Areas: Waterproof mascara and eyeliner can be stubborn. Use a specialised eye makeup remover and a soft cotton pad to gently clean the area without tugging or rubbing.
Recommended Products: Micellar water works for most skin types, while oil cleansers are great for dry skin. For sensitive skin, look for fragrance-free options.
Taking a few extra minutes to remove your makeup properly ensures your skin stays healthy and glowing.
Conclusion
Makeup doesn’t have to be intimidating. By understanding your skin, choosing the right products, and following a simple step-by-step routine, you can create a flawless look with ease. Remember, practice makes perfect, so don’t be afraid to experiment and find what works best for you.
