Do you all just randomly think about how a young Kageyama (the older one too) saw Oikawa as his idol, as everything he aspires to be and.... well I wanted to write about how Oikawa felt threatened by him and Kageyama didn't even know about it because in his mind, Oikawa was the greatest and no way was he afraid of anyone, least of all him. And i think about that one moment, I don't remember from the manga, but in first season when Karasuno takes the second set and Oikawa realises that Kageyama is not the same anymore and asks himself abt what Suga's actually teaching him..... Suga became what Oikawa never was to Kageyama and Oikawa realised it in that moment. He even said that he didn't know what else he was feeling while also feeling irritation. Seeing Kageyama grow, realising Suga had a hand in that and reflecting on their shared past, what did Oikawa feel in that moment? Regret? Anger? Sadness? Envy? Idk

Dawn and Other Acts of Love t. 4.6k. sakusa's worst nightmare has come true: he has to stay the weekend at atsumu's. such a funny premise spun into a fluffy piece with light hurt and so much comfort. loved it!

shoot to kill g. 6.2k. this obliterated me and continues to haunt me. atsumu knows not to cross the line when it comes to insults and arguments, but sakusa does not, and says something that he shouldn't have. very powerful, with a tender conclusion at the end. one of the best fics i read this year <3

Summer Special: Omigiri t. 6.9k. osamu asks sakusa to be his model for his upcoming summer umeboshi onigiri special, but it turns out to be a ploy for him to confess to atsumu. absolutely hilarious.

The Taste of 2 a.m. t. 8.2k. atsumu is an insomniac with a need to drink tea at 2 am and sakusa joins him. they eventually fall in love with the routine and each other.

Curse Breaking for Dummies: A Setter's Guide to Getting the Guy g. 10.2k. 2/2. modern magic twist where atsumu is cursed with a love curse and everyone falls in love with him except sakusa. you can tell where this will go. very fun and lighthearted!

love as told by you t. 11.1k. this fic is the sun that beams onto you at the end of a rainstorm, reassuring you that love exists, and you'll find love, or a platonic soulmate. it's so warm and tender, choke full of affectionate details of a blooming sakuatsu relationship. a comfort fic, for sure.

recipe for disaster e. 22.9k. fwb narrative where atsumu falls in love with sakusa, featuring anxiety, supportive brothers, and sakusa who also loves him back. the sunaosa side of things is also *chef's kiss* and recommended below ehe

turn west towards dawn e. 2.7k. prose intertwined with letters about osamu getting an email from suna while studying in italy to reconnect after their break-up. the writing is both light but heavy with their lingering emotions and regret that makes your heart throb.

resistance to flow t. 6.2k. fwb to lovers agenda. i will never tire of the slippery slope of falling in love, especially if it's written beautifully.

A Primer for the Small Weird Orchestra Loves t. 8.2k. au where the boys are in an orchestra and suna helps osamu with the violin. lovely details and slow burn, with also a sakuatsu sequel.

of great ambition m. 17.8k. more of a suna-centric character study with a splash of sunaosa that focuses on suna's journey to become a pro. suna is so vulnerable in this, and he deserves all the glory for himself. it's also very in line with how i interpret his character <3

secret menu e. 26.3k. the sunaosa side of recipe for disaster. suna takes a part-time job working at onigiri miya during the off-season and gets more than he bargained for. also fwb narrative but augh. augh. the writing for both fics is so good and tailored to each character's perspective. i love both of them.

an ode to a conversation stuck in your throat e. 3.1k. a character study of bokuto who has bpd with spice. achingly soft and full of love.

crossing distance g. 4k. bokuto went abroad to study after high school and akaashi is the first one that he contacts. i just love how they were able to fall into each other again despite the distance and falling out of communication, it's truly a magical thing <3

A Kind of Magic t. 6.7k. bokuto and akaashi often hang out at bokuto's house until akaashi invites him over and introduces him to his incredibly large and wild family. beautiful, beautiful prose and gradual realization of feelings. we stan family members as their cheerleaders.

heavy heart, a love apart e. 7k. exes to lovers. this oozed with angst and heavy hearts with tension that is eventually resolved for a hopeful ending. loved the atmosphere created by the prose.

iwaoi

yes-man t. 4.1k. no matter what oikawa asks of iwa, he always says yes, including a spontaneous weekend trip to las vegas. very cute and fluffy!

Pretty Boy t. 8k. oikawa is used to iwa's range of nicknames for him, but when iwa starts calling him pretty boy, well. that changes things. fluffy, cute, and lighthearted!

shoelaces and departures t. 10.1k. 2/2. magical realism au where iwa runs a cafe and oikawa is compelled to travel to different corners of the world because of his innate wanderlust. mutual pining at its finest with fluff.

rise e. 12.4k. oikawa and iwa live together after high school but don't have a label on their relationship. something else that this fic focuses is on the push-pull aspect they have, especially with oikawa's knee injury. the hurt/comfort hit me where it hurt.

When I Fall to My Feet e. 23.2k. 3/3. trans oikawa is looking for someone to overwrite his terrible first time, and eventually iwa offers to do it. fwb to lovers, with a sprinkle of makki and mattsun friendship, and a wonderfully supportive iwa.

The MSBY Black Jackals Guide To Self-Care t. 4.5k. sakusa-centric. a cute little fic of sakusa learning about his teammates' various self-care routines.

Off the Hinges t. 15.9k. arankita, sakuatsu. kita adopts sakusa since he's a kouhai in the same business program as him while watching him develop his relationship with atsumu. kita also takes a page from his own book with his relationship with aran. cute and endearing. my first arankita fic and i hope it won't be my last.

i remember how the earth stopped turning t. 73.3k. 6/6. kageyama-centric. man. man. it's an amazing read that focuses on the immediate post-career ending injury and intertwines povs from other characters. gorgeous prose. give it a read, seriously.

Yamaguchi Tadashi is NOT a ghost hunter m. 77.9k. 23/23. tsukkiyama. the house that tskushima, kuroo, and bokuto rent in osaka is haunted, and hinata recommends yamaguchi, a spirit medium, to help them. the slow burn!! the mystery!! the details!! i very much enjoyed this <3

“the moon is beautiful, isn’t it?”

ᴏɪᴋᴀᴡᴀ softly smiled to himself—though it didn’t quite reach his eyes—as he watched the late night sky. it was littered with bright stars, big and small, with a beautiful crescent moon hanging in the middle of his view. truly, it was breathtaking. strangely, it was a rather chilly summer evening in argentina, one where the breeze sent a slight chill through him, goosebumps rising on his arms.

he remembered all those months ago, when he uttered that beautifully haunting phrase to you.

“don’t say that,” you replied back, not even turning to face him, fully understanding the underlying meaning in his words, “you don’t get to say that to me now, tooru. not when you leave in four hours.” and sadly, you were right, because that was all it ever would be. useless pining that was doomed to fizzle away, destined to be all for naught.

he felt a familiar ache in his heart again, and he sighed, letting his eyes fall closed, letting his mind go astray. he wondered the same thoughts as always—how you were doing, if you’d done well in university, if you’d gotten the job you always dreamed of, if you’d drank water today…

and like a broken record, his mind drifted and heart skipped to if you found someone new. someone who would treat you right, someone who deserved the beautiful love you exuded, someone who wouldn’t leave you—

it felt hard to breathe suddenly. oikawa’s throat became thick, making it difficult to swallow. the mere thought of someone else loving you, when his heart still beats for you and you alone… it made him want to vomit.

a small, selfish part of him wondered if you ever thought about him too. if you ever looked out at the moon and thought of him, causing your heart to ache like his always did.

as fucked as it was to admit, he hoped so. because he thought about you every day, without fail. he saw you in everything around him: the sunrise when he went on his morning run, the rare days of rain in his new home country, and the night sky when he watched the stars.

as a child, he was always told by his mother that if he truly loved something, to let it go. for beautiful things deserved to be free, to be allowed to flourish and grow without anything weighing it down. and if it returned, he could love it forever. if it didn’t, it was never meant to be.

and while it killed him to leave you, to set you free, he knew it was the right thing to do. for him and for you. you, in all your beauty, deserved freedom. and he, likewise, needed his liberty to prosper as well.

he only wished that one day, you two would find your way back to one another. all he had was to hold on and hope that you both will find your way back in the end.

i don't get how oikage is not a popular ship in the hq fandom with how much CANON material they have and instead they're actually one of the most hated ships for reasons that don't even make any sense.

you don't like oikage because of their age gap? you mean their 2 and a half years age gap? i don't see anything wrong with it there are couples out there with an even bigger age gap.

you don't like shipping first years w third years? fair but i would have to remind you that they're 30 years old and 28 years old now.

"they have a father-son/siblings relationship!" pray tell how.

"oikawa abused/bullied kageyama!" god forbid a man be petty 🤦🏻‍♀️ and if you're pertaining to that ONE moment oikawa almost hit kageyama i would like to remind you that between the two of them, it's oikawa that remembers it the most. you've seen the look he had on his face when he realized what he had almost done and you know he regrets it. i know it was bad that he almost took it out on kageyama but he was just a child that time and you can't exactly blame him for lashing out because of his emotions. children are bound to make stupid actions! but it would have been a different story if he actually did hit kageyama so we have iwaizumi to thank for being there to stop him. it did not happen and that's what matters the most but the memory of that moment still haunts him. kageyama might have remembered a thing or two but i don't think he made a big deal out of it, but oikawa was a different story. i just know he still remembers that day when he had a flashback after trying to stop tobio's setter dump.

"oikage is toxic!" whatever helps you sleep at night i guess.

oikage has soooooo much going on between them and that's what makes their ship so flavorful literally why is this ship not popular i thought people liked a good enemies/rivals to lovers trope i believe they SHOULD be the face of that trope because isn't oikage literally one of the first rivalries introduced and EMPHASIZED in the series 🤓☝ karasuno vs aoba johsai is literally just oikage tension on court they literally had a dramatic moment after the match telling each other that now they're tied.

I DON'T APPRECIATE how people don't acknowledge oikage when all oikawa had done in the series is yap about tobio tobio chan tobio wa TOBIO !!! you can say he hates him but you can't deny how much he admires him too. he knows tobio is skilled, that he'll eventually surpass him, and he hates how it makes him feel inferior but that feeling is exactly what drives him to work even harder. kageyama is HIS rival, just as he is kageyama's.

both of them holds each other in high regards but i don't think they would ever realize how much they had affected each other. oikawa had always felt scared that kageyama would take away his position, he was scared of the /genius/ that suddenly came and gave him the impending feeling of something being taken away from him. kageyama was scared of him too, he was overwhelmed with his senior's skills, doubting that he could ever reach his level. he had always been watching oikawa, learning and picking up his serving habits, seeing how he manages to bring the best out of his team. they both threaten each other, but that's because they both recognize how great the other is.

they're an incredibly frustrating ship because they're both idiots that think they won't ever reach each other's levels but that's what makes me love them more

they're so angsty i think they should just talk it out and kiss 😊

˖ ࣪⊹ he sat In front of his desk doing his assignment his focus on them as you watched from the other side. It was weird the feeling that you’ll both be graduating soon. That you won’t see each other every day because of school, the sickening feeling of being accepted into different universities. Having to possibly work long-distance relationships.

The nightmare of breaking up because of that, living far away and not being able to work a relationship, the fights, the stress. That you wouldn’t be with him for the rest of your life that all of the talk of having a future might have just been talk… “I can feel you staring..”

You didn’t say anything just watched him you could feel your self starting to cry. All of it being so overwhelming, that maybe just maybe he won’t be yours anymore, that all of the memories and moments you’ve created and shared we to be forgotten. That he’d give up on you, that your ‘difficult’ nature would get rid of him even after all this time. That he’d get tired of you.

His eyes finally left if paper meeting your teary eyes, his brows frowning “love what’s wrong?” He asked his hand coming to cup your face whipping away stray tears that slipped down your face. “Common talk to be baby..”

“Please don’t give up on me..” you sobbed, “please..” his eyes filled with concern and he moved you close to him. “My love what makes you think that I’d give up on you, ever.” He asked his attention fully in you now.

You could only shake your head, nothing really just these intrusive thoughts that haunted you because you did want to be with anyone that he was the person you could only see yourself with ever. “I don’t know..” you muttered a frown plastered on your wet face.

“Hey, hey listen to me, just because we’re graduating doesn’t mean I’m gonna leave you. I dosent mean that if we go to different universities I’m not ever gonna take a train to come see you even if I’m traveling across the country. That I won’t call you every chance I get, hell I’d transfer schools if needed no matter how hard it is. No matter how angry we get at eachother I’d be right by your side once again. Because every day I wake up, every time I go to sleep I hope in the morning you’ll still be mine.” He spoke in full sincerity.

God his heart broke that you thought he’d ever give up on you because he may not be as open and giving to others but lord with you. With you it’s different his mindset is heart is so open, and he doesn’t want that with anyone else how could he? When you were right in front of him.

You were perfection no matter what. He pulled you ups to his lap your arms wrapping around his neck and his lips kissed your neck and shoulders softly. “I don’t want anyone but you.”

now, there were plenty of beautiful women in Tokyo. millions! but why oh why did the universe hate him so much to the point they sent you as his blind date.

that's right. you. his ex. his first love, his high school sweetheart, his best friend and the same girl who stole his heart and stomped on it until it broke into a million pieces. it was simply unbelievable.

you turned him into a depressed man after you broke up with him because you thought it was better to go seperate ways. okay, maybe it was for the better because now he's a superstar volleyball player and now you're doing whatever. and he's one hundred percent sure that you're succeeding in whatever the hell you're doing because holy fuck do you look like a goddess right now.

of course, dating his ex was not written on his workbook. he never would go back to his exes. that he can swear he'd never do but right now he's starting to contemplate whatever mindset he has going on. in full honesty, he's still bitter and upset at you for dumping him due to stupid reasons. it has been years since you last saw each other.

Third Year of High School

" you're not even giving me a chance here! "

his voice broke as tears welled up in his eyes. his hands holding onto yours as he intertwined his fingers with yours. his lips remain a frown as he looked at you. you sighed and remain your gaze on him.

" tooru, it's not that like that "

he clicked his tongue at your words. bullshit. that's all he thinks right now. he lets go of his grip on your hands as he looked at you with glassy eyes. he bites down his bottom lip to control himself from actually breaking down in front of you.

" so, you're gonna give up on us? "

his question remains unanswered as you stayed quiet. he sighed, looks like he got his answer. you sighed and crossed your arms. you couldn't bare to look at him right now in his vulnerable state. you feel like you just got shot by a million arrows from how bad you're hurting him.

" i just think it's better if we go on our seperate ways"

back to the present, he didn't expect you. first of all, he didn't even want to go on this stupid blind date in the first place but his awful yet amazing friends kept pestering him to do this. saying that "you're too obsessed with volleyball get a life", blah blah blah. he just rolled his eyes to their statement but he still went.

so, it wasn't his friends' fault for setting him up with his ex. or is it?

both of you sat in silence for a whole minute inside the busy yet quiet café. both of you had ordered your drinks and tooru swears that his matcha latte is almost finished from how often he kept sipping it.

he quickly clears his throat before finally saying something.

"long time no see"

okay that did not sound as badass as he thought it was gonna be. it kinda sounded corny. he took a second to cringe at himself before looking at you. god, he wanted to curse the heavens because how dare they make him hate this amazing woman!?

from head to toe you're perfect. tooru would fight anyone who says the opposite. you got so much prettier in the last couple of years too. your hair, your eyes, your lips, your face, your ass-

that was a little overboard, he thought. he's not supposed to be thinking this! you broke his heart and he hates you!

" yeah, you look great "

god, he wanted to melt on the spot. the same voice that haunted his dreams for years. still so sweet and so good to listen to. he looks great? woah! does that mean you're complimenting him? what is great? his physique? his personality? he had to bite his bottom lip to cover his smile and remain his scowl.

" pfft- i know "

you rolled your eyes at his words. ah, tooru always as smug as he can be. but he did in fact looked great, he looked healthy and more muscular. indeed, seperation was better for both of you. of course you knew about his growth in the volleyball world, he was the talk of the year. based on the scowl on his face, you're sure he's still being petty about what happened between the two of you.

" i see that your ego is still bigger than your ass "

he gasped at that statement. his eyes narrowed down at you as he crossed his toned arms. he's gotten tan too from the Argentina sun. it's a good look on him, not gonna lie.

" at least, i didn't leave people at their lowest points "

touché but it was a terrible comeback. tooru has always been horrible at comebacks. it did however managed to shaken things up a little bit. you clicked your tongue and rolled her eyes. same old petty tooru.

" i'm sorry, alright? that was a long time ago "

" you don't seem sorry "

" at least i'm apologizing "

" yeah but years after that- "

you groaned loudly making him snicker. he always enjoyed driving you crazy. to him, it was cute to see you all fired up and he just likes to piss people off in general. he leans back on his chair as his gaze remains on you.

" so quickly agitated, (y/n) "

he commented making you huff and roll your eyes.

" you're still as annoying as you'll ever be "

" annoyingly hot you mean "

" maybe because you came from hell "

his smug grin falters and drops at your comeback. he scowls and huffs at your now smug expression. this interaction was gonna be interesting. you just wiggled your eyebrows at him to piss him off even further.

ugh, he hates you. he hates how sassy and teasing you can get. he hates the fact that he finds it cute and sexy at the same time. why is it so sexy when you put him in his place!?

he clears his throat again after a minute of whole silence.

" you know, i hate you right "

you sighed softly and rolled your eyes for what seems about the nth time now.

" and it's completely my fault, i know "

he wanted to say yeah it is. you're to blame for the heartbreak pain he felt for years.

after he flew away to Argentina, he couldn't sleep at night wondering about you, he devoted himself fully to his career because he didn't want to think about you, he tried going out with other women but they all just weren't you.

but right now, it's as if he wanted to push that ego away and forget everything that has happened in the past couple years and just grab your face and kiss you with everything he's got.

and he's not leaving this date until he does exactly that.
