#TBT to a sunset in Monkey’s Eyebrow, KY with Kelsey Waldon. Kelsey is from a small community that sits on the western edge of Kentucky, with the mighty Ohio River to the north. My own home state of Illinois is just a quick drive away. This was taken at her father’s hunting lodge, a place Kelsey has know and been inspired her whole life. To those who know this part of America, where the Mississippi and Ohio rivers collide, it is a mystical place. Glad to know my Kentucky neighbor and call her a friend. Happy album release day to my beautiful friend Kelsey Waldon! We've been working on photos together since 2013. We've seen each others triumphs and set backs, and inspired one another with our stubborn attitudes and focus on making good work. Today marks a special day, as Oh Boy Records lifts Kelsey's art up not just by putting this record out, but by being a support group of caring and passionate friends who are really shining examples of how music industry folks should be. It takes a village for any of us to make our work and progress it. The stellar craftsmanship displayed in the recordings, the advocates who tirelessly work for an artist on the business end of it all, the visual art that becomes associated with a record, and of course - the focus, practice, and conjuring of spirit needed to write the songs into being. Kelsey is one of the strongest and hardest working artists that I know; never bending her standards in exchange for convenience or easy career advancements. When Oh Boy signed her, I knew it was right. We've known the hard times and had each of our share of doubters, but today is a beautiful one causing for celebration. Cheers to the future, dear friend.
