Okey okey I will gush a little bit about my boyfriend, the loml, husband, darling, sweetie-pie... well you get it-

look at him he's soooo silly!!! Like he's the goofiest ever, he's all chill most of the time but it's so funny when he gets either super happy or super annoyed. But I think he's also one of the nicest members, he's a bit dry but he never means any harm. He's also so cute! “You’re hurt. Please, just let me help you.”

Frankie shakes his head, immediately groaning and rubbing his temples.

“I’m o-”

“Don’t you dare say ok. That guy got a few good hits in.”

Frankie cracks open an eye to glare at you. “I won that fight.”

“Ok, Benny. You may have won but that doesn’t mean you aren’t hurt.”

“I can do it mysel- fuck!!” Frankie tries to stand from the couch but slumps back, hand clutching at his side. 

“I’m right here, you stubborn ass. Let me help you.”

Frankie sighs, finally giving in, shoulders slumping back, wincing at the motion. “Ok. You win.”

You pull out a small first aid kit, grateful that you had one stashed in your bathroom. Your hand comes up to gently hold his chin, his stubble scraping lightly against your skin as you dab at the gash on his cheek. His eyes are on your face, as if he’s taking you in. 

“Why did you fight that guy?”

Frankie is silent a moment. “He was a jerk.”

You chuckle. “I’m not debating that but why fight him? He was twice your size. You’re a skilled fighter which is the only reason you’re walking away from this with a handful of injuries. What did he say?”

Frankie’s eyes don’t quite meet yours, looking away. He shifts nervously where he sits. “He- he was just saying jerk things.”

“Frankie?”

“Don’t worry about it. Ouch!” You had dabbed a bit of rubbing alcohol on his cut, making sure it was disinfected from the other man’s rings that had gouged into his skin.

“It’s not like you to just fight a guy, Frankie.”

“Look, just-” He moves his face from your grip “-forget IT HOLY SHIT WARN A GUY!”

You had cut him off by placing ice on his bruised ribs, causing Frankie to nearly jump out of his skin. Laughing, you move your hand and replace it with his to hold the ice in place. 

“Don’t be a baby. It’s just ice.”

“It’s fucking cold.”

“That’s what will help the bruising. But don’t change the subject.” You fix him with a look and his eyes soften.

“I-I don’t want to say.”

“Frankie, I’m a big girl. I can take it. What did he say?”

Frankie’s eyes meet yours. “When you turned him down, he said a bunch of terrible shit about you. I’m not going to repeat it.”

“So, wait…did you beat that guy up to..defend me?”

Frankie nods, looking down at his hand that was holding the ice. “Yeah. I wasn’t gonna let him talk shit about you.”

“Oh Frankie. Why would you do that? I mean, I appreciate it but it’s not worth you getting hurt over it.”

“Is it not obvious?” He’s speaking to me but his eyes remain on his hands.

“Isn’t what obvious?”

He’s silent now, obviously nervous about whatever he wants to say.

“Frankie, look at me.” He sighs, bringing his deep eyes up to mine. 

“We’ve known eachother since what, the 3rd grade? You yelled at Timothy Mattheson when he pulled on my braids? We’ve been best friends since then. You can tell me any-”

“I’m in love with you.”

“I- you’re what?”

He sighs, nodding slightly. “I’m in love with you.”

“But..for how long?”

“Since the third grade when I yelled at Timothy Matteson.”

Tears well up in your eyes. You had had a crush on Frankie since then too, but you’d always told yourself it was one sided. There was no way that Frankie liked you in that same way and you were too terrified to lose him as a friend to ever ask.

“Look, you don’t have to feel the same way about me. It’s ok. But could…could you just…hold me? For just a moment. Before you break my heart?”

As if I could ever hurt you.

“If I hold you, I’m never letting you go.”

Frankie’s eyes snap to mine, a slight glimmer of hope in them. “What?”

“I love you, Francisco Morales. And I have ever since we met.”

Frankie throws his ice pack on the couch, wincing as he sits up, his hands coming up to hold your cheeks. He hesitates only briefly, his eyes studying yours before he pulls you in, lips gently brushing against yours. Losing yourself in the kiss, you reach forward blindly to grab at his shirt, but your fingers poke at his bruised ribs and he breaks the kiss to swear.

“Oh my God I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to-”

“It’s ok.” He lets out a breath of pain. “I want to kiss you so bad but maybe we should wait for this-” he gestures to his ribs which are turning a dark, angry purple color “-to heal a bit?”

“I think that’s fair.”

Frankie beckons you to him, cuddling you up on his opposite side. You swear you can feel him practically purring with happiness and you’re sure he feels the same from you.

Leo for some reason decided to stream at work using the AR system, he claims that it's because it's been pretty slow recently because of the relatively small amount of clients. So his model is dressed in blue jeans, black boots, a minty green shirt, a lab coat with an ID badge, his mask with shorter than normal tails, with a stethoscope around his neck. Sitting in a rolling chair next to a desk and shelves.

The stream can only see the front desk area, and all the paperwork seen looks like it written in an alien language because of a filter, and Leo wanting to mess with the veiwers. Including his Degree(s) on the hall, since they read as presented from a hidden city college/university.

River is there in her robot body disinfecting the waiting room, and organizing the books/magazines, toys, and Cafe station.

A notification goes off with a question about the comic books Donnie supposedly brought from a different reality.

"Oh The Ronin books. Yeah we all read through them, and all agreed while amazing, it was also quite horrifying to think of the scenario happening here." Leo says as he pulls a hard back book from a nearby shelf.

The cover is mostly dark gray, and black with some red. There's a figure in all black with a Katana and Bo staff strapped to their back, and a Sai and metallic Tonfa on a utility belt along with some pouches, and rope. There is a red moon with 'The Last Ronin' in white over top of it. There is some other words and the author and artists names in red and white, but the letters are unreadable, either it's to far from the camera, or the filter is messing it up.

"The other book is at home, Pops finished this one, and wanted to read the second book." Leo says as he flips through some of the pages, "Either way it's kind apocalyptic/dystopian with a mentally not Okay main character out for revenge for most of his family 'H' being killed because the other group 'O/F' didn't truly want a truce between them, or something." He stops at a page and reads it over, "Or that's what we figure, since it's implied that one of the O/F leaders claimed H broke the truce."

"Before anyone asks the reason I'm not saying the names of the families is because the H family is actually the same name as Our family name, and the O/F group are an actual group my family had a rivalry with like 500 years ago. They're still around but there's not a full on grudge anymore." Leo stresses this if only to make it clear no more answers will be given on the subject.

"Anyhoozle the family names are why Donnie believes this is from another universe, but again I don't want to look into it, or mess with things that might lead to trouble." He puts the book on the desk opened to a page with what looks like an explosion on it, "We had enough trouble with getting past our own problems with the other group. Some of their members had some screws loose, and came after us, we don't know why, just that we supposedly had an artifact of theirs. It was just a creepy teapot!" He slouches with a sigh/groan of annoyance.

Just then the sound of sliding doors opening could be heard, and Leo sits up and quickly mutes the stream. The audience is left to watch Leo talk to someone, with him leaning forward you can see his tail sticking out from a slit in the lab coat. He holds up a finger in a 'just a minute' motion, then gets up and goes behind the camera.

Someone can be seen trying to lean into frame, even wave their arm where the camera can see, but the person is not able to lean far enough into veiw. Though it's obvious when Leo returns because they jolt and jump back. Leo walks back into the camera veiw and hands the person a bag with presumably their proscription in it.

Leo talks with them for a few minutes, before the person leaves and he un-mutes the stream.

"Sorry, one of my clients who also watches the streams came in, probably because I was streaming and they thought they could sneak into veiw. Luckily I'm a nice guy, so they're not going to be blocked or banned from the stream, and our socials." Leo informs with some amusement. He sits back down with a slight bounce, and quickly checks the work computer on the desk.

"Unless another veiwer decides to try crashing the stream, let's go back to the books, now the first book, has a bittersweet end, but it leads into the second book which is like 10 to 15 years into the future. And it swaps from present day to the past to tell more of what happened with Ronin, and act as a teaching method for the next generation of the family."

Leo goes on to vaguely describe more parts of the books, all while purposefully ignoring the chat asking why they can't find the books anywhere. And some asking if Mandarin/Mikey wrote/drew the graphic novels.

In general I really just want more of these two in canon! They need to kiss... Otherwise, y'know in general I have a good chunk of ships for Grant but... Ultimately so long as Marco exists in the same universe, I tend to imagine them getting together in the long run.

Mercedes/Carol: Oooh interesting! Not a ship I've thought too much about tbh, but I could get behind it! I think my main hang-up if anything is that usually when I imagine ships with either Henry or Mercedes, either one of them doesn't exist in that universe or they never met, or it's a poly thing! In this case, I'd probably like this best if Hen and Mercedes have an open-relationship sorta deal (I mean they sorta canonically do?) and these two get involved with each other within that context. 🤔 Could also get behind a 4-way poly scenario with Darryl as well, but that's not a necessity by any means!

:0 I like the idea of Carol getting to experiment and maybe learning more about her sexuality and the like the way Darryl sort of got to in S1, and Mercedes would be a lovely person to see that happen with! Yeah, they'd be cute together I think!

Autumn/Linda (Ron's mom!): I'm so fascinated by this ship??? Also love that we've just established Linda's name haha good for her good for her.

You'll have to tell me more about how you see this ship before I come to any concrete feelings about it tbh! Still, I like the premise I mean, I guess they'd actually have a bunch going for them? On its own I love the idea of the omega daddies being divorced af and their exes getting together haha it's what they deserve. But yeah they could genuinely be quite good for each other! I imagine Linda must be pretty good at dealing with people with anger issues, she'd probably have the patience to be there for Autumn in a way that matters and help her work through some things. And Autumn is an underrated catch tbh haha- :o also a very powerful druid who could possibly help Linda with her chronic illness??? The fact that she had a bit of a thing for Ron also makes her getting with his mom pretty funny to me.

The news that the lead singer of the Cards Read Death was going to be going on a hiatus spread very quickly threw the music world and it defiantly hit Hawkins where word quickly spread that the “satanic” music that the devil-worshiping lead singer Lunar would be in town. Having to drop your stage name for a while would be something oud have to get used to again.

You had more expected to go to class without a hitch but it seemed the guidance counselor had other plans in hoping to not have you cause trouble around school like simply on your way to class. your Rockstar image of you that led you to get in trouble occasionally seemed to follow you back to town.

the short older lady also felt the need to comment on the metal in your nose lips and eyebrows.

“You know hun all those pretty little piercings aren't a part of the dress code we only permit one piercing in the ear just for future reference”

you didn't care nor did you plan to take your piercings out.

 “Anyway dear let's get you your schedule and maps and let's get you to class.”

she walked you to your first class which was history and the teacher started talking to the short chubby lady

“This is one of your new students I recommend putting them in a spot you can keep your eye on them,” she attempted to whisper. 

You were told to sit behind this curly-haired boy in a red flannel cutoff decorated with pins.

The teacher was already 20 mins into whatever lesson they were doing, which led you to tap on the brown-haired boy in front of you. He looked back and at that moment you froze, and it seemed so did he. you had recognized him from a concert a year ago in Indianapolis. he was close to the stage and had managed to hand you a flower. It had warmed your heart. So of course, you remembered it. He was also frozen cause you had been sitting right behind him something he could never dream of, you the lead singer lunar was behind him tapping his shoulder asking him for something.

you were defiantly quicker to snap yourself out of your train of thought than him. 

“Uh hi I'm new do you think I could use your notes like after class or something,” you tried to ask.

The blue-eyed boy stared at you with a blank face. Making you wave your hand in front of his face slightly.

“Hello, you there? Earth to pretty boy,”

“Oh uh yeah defiantl-, you can uh definitely use my notes,” the words flew out his mouth in a jumble making you chuckle

“Thanks I guess we can talk after class right,” he nodded in response and turned forward Gareth's face was as bright as his cut-off as he tried to sort out what just happened in his head

‘Lunar aka Y/n just asked to use my notes and sits behind me in history class.’

 The thought echoed in his mind endlessly. When the end of history came you stood in front of his desk.

“Okay so I kinda have to go do stuff during lunch so maybe I can come to your place or you can come to mine and I can copy your notes then,” you said hands on your messenger bag covered in pins and patches.

“Oh uh yeah uh we could maybe drive to my place later if you don't have a problem with that, o-f, of course, you can say no I wouldn't wanna like be pressuring-”

“no no it's fine I'm y/n and your” you drag the end of your on waiting for a response 

 “G-Gareth my names Gareth,” he stumbled over his words.

You smiled “Gareth nice, well see you around pretty boy” 

And with that, you left the room Gareth could barely process what happened. the number of butterflies in his stomach almost made him throw up.

He noticed you in his math class as well.

Lunch came around and you weren't lying he didn't see you during lunch but he got to his normal spot next to Eddie 

“So Lunar is in my class, well technically their name is Y/n” Gareth whisper yells to the group of nerds at the table 

Eddie almost chokes on the pretzel in his mouth ”What!?”

“Yes they're in my history class and I may or may not have agreed to swap notes after school,” Gareth said.

“Dude you've gotta introduce us,” Jeff said still in slight shock that you were in fact in Hawkins high school.

“You guys can introduce your selves I barely survived them asking for notes,” he said pointing at the group sitting down.

“So you're telling us you managed to invite them to your house after school- just like that” Pat says 

 ”Yeah more or less what you mad I got more game than you Eddie,” Gareth said feeling a bit too confident in his abilities. despite the fact, that he almost became a puddle when you called him pretty boy.

By the end of the day, the both of you were walking out of the school having shared ceramics together and having a little bit of time to talk about things between the two of you. Then the conversation came up as you were walking to Gareth's car his hands shaved in his pockets,

 ”So what brought you to Hawkins”

“Oh I'm in a band but I was doing homeschooling but my mom wanted me to finish school in an actual school but we were about to go on tour and everything so it just feels like the most important thing in my life has been put on hold,” you say grasping the strap of your shoulder bag letting out a sigh

 “But I grew up here and started performing you when a label picked up Cards Read Death so my mom still lived here while I was doing concerts and so I came back to Hawkins to finish high school,” you finish. 

Gareth nods understanding “I’m a part of a small band called corroded coffin we play at this bar on the weekends,” 

”Really? that cool I’d like to hear you guys play at some point,” you say finally getting to Gareth’s car

both of you get in and he starts to back out of the parking lot making his way to his house “I'm gonna apologize now I have 3 sisters and they can be a bit.. much,”

You slowly nod your head in response soon enough he pulls into his driveway. He turns his keys in his car to turn it off walking inside.

“Mom I'm home!” he yelled from in front of you “Me and my friend will be in my room!” he tries to get you to his room without running into his little sisters who would probably say way to much and expose his small celebrity crush on you.

“Hi, I'm  Lillian,” the little brown-haired girl said walking up to you as Gareth tried to pull you to his room.

“Hi Lillian I’m Y/n” you say crouching down to meet the girl's height 

“I’m 6!” the girl said excitedly. 

“That's so cool,” you say in an excited tone

I love how much of a classical tragic hero he is and I love how much love he has and how that gets twisted around and shaped into a collar of spikes around his own neck. I saw gif sets of wwx before I ever knew about CQL and my reaction was “fuck. I’m going to love him” and I do! And I love that he does learn from his past and I love most of all that he learns to accept the love he is given and is able to make a happy ending in a place of being loved and held in respect and appreciation

2. Wen Qing

On the other hand, I did not expect to be like “mine now” with Wen Qing. Don’t get me wrong, the sexy immortal look got me but it wasn’t really till I started writing fic that I was like ohhhhh Oh Boy. Wen Qing is brilliant and ruthless, fiercely loving and aloof and cold. I love that she gets the lose-lose challenge of balancing what is right for her family vs what is right in the world, what she owes to her sect and what she owes to individuals. 3. Jiang Yanli

The first fic I wrote for this fandom was literally “Jiang Yanli died no she didn’t” lmao I do feel like I underserve Jiang Yanli in that I often fall prey to using her to further the complexity that the male characters are permitted while denying her the chance to be given the same space for development and breath — something to work on! But in that, I really genuinely love how tightly she binds herself to her family and how she tries so hard to be what others need her to be—and then she does make a choice for herself and for a single moment at least, she gets to be loved and to be happy and to have this, a husband and a son and a place, for herself. And terribly I love how much she permeates the story still after death. She is the unspoken voice, the face turned from the camera but always still present, carried in the hearts and names and memories of the ones left behind

She deserved better but—I am weak for the tragedy of it all

4. Jiang Cheng

Another surprise (tho hardly surprising in hindsight): Jiang Cheng is just...horribly understandable. He makes terrible choices and his greatest heroism is undone by a choice made for him or, in the case of “killing the Yiling Laozu” is a lie. He is such a youngest sibling who doesn’t want to be the youngest until all at once, he’s the one in charge and he doesn’t want it at all. He is full of anger and hurt and so much love he doesn’t know what to do with it, doesn’t want it anymore, has no place to put all of its terrible, overwhelming flood.

5. Lan Wangji

I almost didn’t put Lan Wangji or Jiang Cheng on here and then I realized that this is sort of a list of characters I’m pickiest about in fic and...yeah. I think what I love best about Lan Wangji is his journey of grief and healing and through that, his decision to step into world. Where Wei Wuxian’s decision to travel and be removed from the cultivation world (in varying degrees depending on your headcanon preference lol) is really, really important to me, Lan Wangji’s decision to go from being an isolated lone agent working apart from the systems of the world to being involved and invested in changing those systems and working to make them better is also really important to me. I’ve talked before about how relatable Lan Wangji is to me (esp with regards to our interaction with the outer world) and there is something deeply hopeful and comforting about post-timeskip Lan Wangji being in his like mid-/late-30s and still making decisions and growing and changing and choosing to invest himself in the world and the future

yeah. i have thoughts here that I don’t really have the maturity, life experience, or articulation to put into words but Lan Zhan Good basically

1. Xie Lian

suuuurpriiiiise!! Yeah honestly mxtx’s mains in TGCF and MDZS really just hit all my buttons basically. What appeals to me most of all about Xie Lian is, fittingly, how he is humanity taken to extremes. His capacity for incredible kindness and compassion is equaled with his capacity for cruelness and ruthlessness. His heaven-shaking highs are matched with calamitous lows. of all the characters on these lists, Hua Cheng is the one I’m pickiest about tbh! When I say I love him for similar reasons as Xie Lian I don’t actually mean this as being similarities between the two but the fact that both of them so richly convey mxtx’s points about the nature of humanity and what it is to be human. Hua Cheng is both the boldest and most arrogant of all and also the most vulnerable, the one who shies away from the truth because he’s braced for it to hurt and isn’t sure he can take it. He is gory blood rain and an umbrella to shelter a fragile bloom; he is a blade whose wounds only heal if he permits it and he is a sacrifice that he brushes aside as a fit of madness. *pats his head* this boy can fit SO MUCH inside him that he refuses to acknowledge

3. Jun Wu

Definitely my favorite antagonist in recent reading. I was doubtful of him from the start (something something issues with authority something something probably should talk to my theoretical future therapist shhh) but the unfolding of his reveal was so delightfully painful and exquisite that I was like “YES!!!” reading all of it. About the epitome of a satisfying plot twist imo. But about the character himself, I love how he parallels so many — Xie Lian in his rise and fall, his glory and disgrace; Hua Cheng in his fixation and ruthlessness; He Xuan in losing himself to the plot and not knowing how to move forward. I love that he feels beyond human in a way the others don’t—he’s so old and has gone through so much and he doesn’t feel things the way humans do anymore, doesn’t remember right how love squeezes the heart or how hate can exist without acting on it. I love that he thinks he knows how to control everyone and that it’s such mundane things that fool him: Xie Lian’s absurd stubbornness, Hua Cheng’s foolish faith, Yin Yu’s...emotional maturity??? Not Sure how to verbalize that one. But in the end, he is defeated by both the humanity of others and by his own—he’s so tired. He’s exhausted in a way that gods and ghosts aren’t meant to be. He is, under the armor and the masks, the curses and the power, human—benevolent and cruel, evil and good.

4. He Xuan

I love my fish man! No but really I love how He Xuan is so fixed on his one goal that he refuses to acknowledge anything else in his (after)life—which doesn’t make it go away. I love that he is left unmoored, purposeless through the very act of completing that which gives him purpose. I love his long con and the ways he clings to himself but loses himself not in the act but in the telling himself it’s an act. I love that he tries to be a moral man and then becomes a ghost king, a calamity. His reveal is also terribly badass and I do love his bone fish wholly unironically. Like I’m not going to get a He Xuan tattoo (for one thing I’ve been meaning to get a tattoo for 5 years and still haven’t gotten around to it) but also. B o n e f i s h

5. Mu Qing

Of course! The Jiang Cheng of tgcf lol Mu Qing (which my phone desperately wants to autocorrect to my Qing) is so...gah he’s such a mess! And he so fully commits to the belief that no one will ever see and understand him as he is but will always view them through their own convictions about him and his actions — which is simultaneously heartbreakingly lonely and also. Sir You Are a Clown. I genuinely think he’s owed apologies from both Feng Xin and Xie Lian for their treatment and assumptions of him and think that he would be HORRIBLY offended at the thought (while secretly touched? But like secretly even to himself). He will never explain himself and will just clam up tighter the more people accuse him and it’s such a self-sabotaging behavior and also so horribly relatable. I love u sir, you’re a disaster

Anything scary tbh but the woman in black is by far my favourite and we would have a lot of fun too. Although honestly, any new horror is good so that we could watch it in the cinema

Okay so over the years (me consuming the miniseries, the book then both movies) his image had sort of melted into one very chaotic asshole.

I don't think anyone gives him enough credit but he’s super smart. Like it’s canon he does amazing at school (except for behaviour of course). And yeah, he’s not the bravest, he leaves, he freaks out sure but he comes back. Like, especially in the book he idolises Bill so much and goes after him wherever even if he’s scared because he wants to help his friend and it's more important to him. They all were in danger and he was loyal enough to stick through all that, I'm tired of authors making him the disposable asshole of the group. Also I think he‘s funny. Yeah, crude too but I really like listening to his comments and voice impressions. And he supports his friends a lot even if he does act like an ass who doesn't care. And most importantly I think he’s very strong. He risks his life for friends even if he thinks it's going to end badly, he puts up with all the bullying and abuse from his peers despite how violent it gets, he doesn't let anyone discourage him from his hobby. Lastly (not to make this a whole essay) I think it's cute how chaotic and energetic he is too, his taste in movies is superior and I think he’s just amazing

Okay so i’ll try to make it less messy. So starting with small things - I like how much he likes musicals, you can literally hear how upset he is that Paul possibly got to see a flash mob and he didn't record it. And when the cops dance everyone is freaking out because they all are infected too but he just gets so hyped up with how good it looks and it's the cutest thing. And don't get me started on how cute he acted during The show stopping number like I- and also he has this habit of getting close to the person he’s talking to, I noticed it when he talking with Paul in the first scene he steps back to check his reaction and goes closer again. And generally talks with his hands a lot too. And oh wow Bill said ‘head’ instead of ‘ass’ but the first insult he could think of is “you noodle” and I just feel the need to mention it. Also, he wants to just have friends and I know he’s not totally a good or easy person but it's just not fair how he isn't given any chance. I think to some degree he thinks he doesn't need it and his love life (or whatever the hell that even is) is proof of that. As soon as he started consistently seeing someone who wasn't even interested in him (romantically that is) he just wanted to be together. No matter how much you dislike him I think we can all agree that the requirement for a relationship shouldn't generally be someone who semi-willingly wants to spend time together. Like it’s canon he knew Charlotte was sleeping around and didn't care as long as her abusive husband wasn't the one she stayed with and he was. Of course, I know how he is, he gets frustrated, he’s a coward and says terrible stuff when he’s upset. But I really do think he deserved better and I really like him nonetheless. He’s also funny, smart and I like the way he talks. I would love to write 6 times as much but I made this catch-up 2 days ago so the prompts keep adding on and I don't want to make it any longer tbh
