Jack & Joker - Ep 7

This episode was extremely hard for me to watch, because it's like someone took the tropes I hate the most and decided to put them here one by one. Lack of communication, misunderstanding, saying something horrible about a loved one when don't mean it and they hear it, a love triangle, a love triangle with a girl in a BL series, noble sacrifice, noble, stupid and unnecessary sacrifice, being mean for a "noble" purpose to protect a loved one by rejecting them, heartbreaking fights, jealousy, the pain of rejection, suffering alone. I hate every single one of these things and a series that I like so, so much decided to throw them all into one episode, at once. So it's easy to imagine that I'm not having a good time 💀

So many bad things happened in this episode that I started crying at the end, it was just too much. What really depressed me was that many of these things were unnecessarily bad, and there was a kind of malice in them that was hard to watch on screen.

I had some understanding (not excuse - understanding) for Save in the last episode, but then I didn't know all the facts. Now I have only contempt for him, because he is simply stupid and cruel in what he does. Save didn't even arrange something specific for Hope, or even for himself, which is exceptionally stupid, since he literally sold his soul to the devil - as it turns out, for nothing. On top of that, he didn't have to include Joke in his schemes, my jaw just dropped when after everything he did to Jack and his grandma, he himself, without being asked, says to Boss that there is one more dude who can mess with your plans, like bitch fr? Save dangerously plays god, messing with people's lives (in grandma's case - her LITERAL life) and for whom, for his boyfriend who works for the mafia and openly says that he actually likes doing it and unlike Jack - is a real loan shark who beats people (his behavior radicalized Tattoo). Hope was beaten, which is a risk of the profession he does, he wasn't beaten up randomly on the street for money, or bullied at a regular job., ffs! But what Save will never earn my forgiveness for is that for the sake of unclear privileges for his boyfriend 1) he could've killed an innocent person 2) he destroys the lives - and I want to emphasize this - LITERALLY DESTROYS THE LIVES of 3 innocent people. And not that I like Rose, but it also affects her life. Thus, grandma, Jack, Joke and Rose are just pawns, a colateral damage in his plans, for his own personal gain.

SAVE IS LIKE TEE FROM DFF. Sorry, but just as I had no sympathy for those guys, I have no sympathy for Save. He doesn't have to do this, he doesn't have to do such cruel and plainly evil things, he doesn't have to be so zealous, such an "employee of the month doing 200% of the norm" lol. It's very interesting that Save, instead of persuading Hope to leave this job and even run away, since he's oh so worried about him, directs his efforts to protect him, by harming others - others who are in the same or worse situation as he is.

This whole marriage plot is so silly and soap opera and that's how I decided to treat it, so that I could still like this show 😅. Gods, it's just so stupid and when Jack initially didn't agree, I was so happy that finally, a voice of reason, and yet.. I don't know how Boss and Jack imagine doing this? I mean technically and.. just… generally???? How Jack plans to marry a woman he doesn't care about (with potential sex? children????) and at the same time follow Boss's orders, while being, you know, himself??? Not to mention that there is a whole ass person in this puzzle: Rose? And I'm not even mentioning Grandma, who is not stupid - how will she feel knowing that Jack literally sold himself for her health? From Jack's words in this episode, I gather that he is more or less aware of Joke's feelings. And I'm a little upset about the fact that Jack hurts him so much, knowing this. And his "noble motives" do not excuse him, because Jack leaves scorched earth behind him, destroys people around him and HIMSELF. And it will get even worse, because there will be no way out of this situation, in which he is digging himself deeper and deeper, which is what Joke was trying to tell him. Jack does something I particularly hate: he "sacrifices himself nobly" but he is really selfish in this sacrifice, because he doesn't ask if anyone actually wants his sacrifice it's The Sign all over again, fuck. And the fact that he does all this alone, officially, to protect his loved ones, shows that he really doesn't trust those close to him, that they can either help him, or that they could decide for themselves. And although I don't like Rose, Jack is ready to marry her without love, for his benefits, which is... suddenly not so noble, right Jack?

I know that all this is the law of slightly exaggerated TV romances, because if Jack had trusted Joke and his grandma and talked to them, maybe together they would have figured out another way to get money for her treatment, but then again, there wouldn't have been all this drama 🙄

But Jack didn't even try.

And he's really getting to the point where even if he wanted to stop, he wouldn't be able to, and even if he somehow managed to, there would be nothing to save, because everyone would be too hurt by him to forgive him. And he's so blinded by fear and the belief that he's doing the right thing that he doesn't even see it.

The approach of Save, Jack and Joke to situations when they feel they have no choice is very interesting. Save sacrifices others without hesitation, Jack sacrifices himself (consciously) and others (unconsciously), Joke sacrifices himself. Joke is truly selfless in all of this, because he is able to humiliate himself in front of his father for someone he cares about, work for pennies, but legally, as Jack wants, when things are very bad, he still feels duty towards the grandma - a person, who was kind to him. Whatever he does, he's alone in it, he doesn't involve others, any harm falls only on him. Apart from that, he blames himself for everything...

Despite everything that the series has shown in tis ep, and which I actively hate, I cannot but praise the series for a few things:

the actors gave it their all in this episode, especially in the micro-expressions on the faces of Jack, Joke and Save, when you can see that they are trying to hide what they are going through

as always, I have to praise the incredibly accurate socio-political-economic background of the series. That there is always a bigger shark in the pool, the total detachment from reality of the rich and that they do NOT WANT to know this reality and that they don't really care. How easily the poor fall into a spiral of debt, a system of dependency, passivity caused by constantly hitting a wall and helplessness in the face of constant adversity (how Jack did not even consider other methods of obtaining money, but went straight to Boss)

that in reality it's so easy to manipulate the poor, who ultimately harm themselves and each other, which is exploited by the elites. The elites know that it's enough to set people against each other and they will jump at each other's throats, doing all the dirty work for them, while they feast on exquisite dishes in beautiful interiors, in expensive clothes. Tattoo, Save, even Jack, do what is expected of them on their own, and their actions negatively affect… themselves and people like them. This is a very brutal and gloomy conclusion to this series, unfortunately also very realistic. Because the rich, the elites know that a divided, depressed society that lives in fear is easier to manipulata and control. Becasue if Jack, Joke, Tattoo, Hoy, Save and Hope joined forces, they would probably be able to oppose Boss, to come up with something for themselves. And so from the beginning we see how their various selfish actions throw themselves and others like them under the bus. Because really, as sad and awful as it may sound, neither Boss nor even Rose could have done anything if not for the significant "help" from Tattoo and Save

Finally, the most beautiful scene. I really appreciate the choice of shots in this scene, especially when only the hands are framed and the focus is on them, without showing the face… 💖

LOWKEY a hydreigon would go insane as a starter for reader icl (it’s one of my fav pokémon)…but houndoom…I’M WAVERING AHHDDJKSKS if we went the hydreigon route i’d change dragalge to smth else as well because no need for two dragon types BUT reader’s current team is so iconic 😭 but hydreigon…but then we wouldn’t have the arcanine/houndoom parallels…but we WOULD have goodra/hydreigon parallels and lowkey nagi with a goomy as his starter goes hard…and the final fight would make even more sense because dragon is super effective against dragon so hydreigon vs hydreigon makes more sense than houndoom vs houndoom…and reader’s gyarados can still mega evolve so maybe barou gives her the keystone instead of the mega stone…but the hydreigon line can’t learn the move pursuit…AHHHHH

HAHA YESS THAT’S WHY I PICKED THEM lowkey otoya def has those vibes though like reader and karasu have deep stories with trauma and their siblings as well as super strong teams, tullia has a vision for her life and the team to accomplish it, meanwhile otoya and his cutesy pokémon are just chilling i KNOW he crashes out when he everyone’s training (throw in mc trio too) like maybe there’s an arc where they have a tournament with one pokémon each and karasu uses his garchomp, tullia throws out infernape, reo uses gallade, chigiri uses dragonite, nagi pulls up with goodra, reader picks gyarados, and otoya has SYLVEON 😭 the funniest thing is every single one of those pokémon is weak to fairy except gyarados so otoya actually makes it to the final round before reader and gyarados beat him 😩

you know what the funniest thing is…the person who requested barou also requested a tabieita love triangle and said they didn’t care who was endgame so we could’ve had 33% karasu content LMAOOO i limited requests to one per person though (considering the event’s been out for barely even a day and i only have 3 spots left that was def the right choice) and decided to go w barou to spread the love…only on this blog is karasu the most popular character DKFHDIDJSJ i always forget he’s actually a rare/underrated fav elsewhere because all of karasu nation is gathered her so in my perception he’s popular because i always have karasu requests and he’s always winning the polls (or coming second place) over much more popular characters 😭😭😭 THE KUNIGAMI SECOND LEAD HAS ME SOOOOO HYPED OMG IT’S GOING TO BE SO FUN especially him as a second lead to karasu??? BRUTAL tbh idk if people understood that when i said love triangle and pick a second lead i didn’t mean threesome/throuple i meant second lead gets their heartbroken but oh well #yolo 🤩 HELP THE ISAGI ONE IS ACTUALLY SO FUNNY IDM it’s from a silly mutual of mine and she wanted it to be where reader keeps trying to confess her feelings to isagi and isagi’s just like “haha…nice…” so like reader’s feelings are the unrequited ones but without too much angst and honestly i just think that that’s such a funny concept that i’m excited to write it even though it’s ISAGI

So totally random, and okay if you don’t think of this character in this way, but do you think it’s at all a part of karkat’s character that he tends to like people more than they like him? Maybe this is just a like hobbled together reading of his character since I haven’t read all of homestuck, but it seems to be a thing in terms of the triangle between him and Dave and Terezi, But also it’s just post-scratch (and maybe a little before it) I feel like sollux’s primary relationships became feferi and Arcadia, and I don’t think their relationship gets really revisited. I know you mentioned before that like oh karkat is kinda obsessed with sollux, but like if they were to have drifted apart what do you think karkat and solluxs feelings towards each other would be in that scenario and do you think they blame themselves or other people from maybe getting the way of their relationship/friendship(?).

Also I think you’d like the song internet baby (interlude) by pinkpantheress it gives me vibes that it’s like about gamzee but idk if the pov character is like sollux or karkat or someone else.

but fr i mean (hopefully) you know this but i've only read hs act 5 so anything i'm saying about any character ever is me talking about what i remember of act 5, context ive picked up from fandom and the hsmtw podcast, and stuff i read in fanfiction. and as far as fanfiction goes i tend to read non-sgrub alternia aus pretty exclusively and that is like. the dynamic that i am primarily interested in. so yk take anything im saying abt any character in comic canon w a hymalayan salt lamp's worth of salt

anywayyyyy all that being said i actually kind of see it the other way around? in that karkat's self-loathing really gets in the way of him understanding the extent to which people care about him. i think he's somebody who gets so wrapped up in trying to justify other people's affection for him that it causes people to get fed up and move on waiting for him to decide if he thinks he deserves to be loved

i do not recall saying i think karkat is obsessed w sollux? altho totally possible i did lmfao. i agree canon doesn't leave much room for them to be together (and i dont think that was ever like. an intended reading of act 5 to be perfectly honest lol) and to me i see it as like i think it's very easy for them to drift apart given their deep-seated insecurities. karkat definitely always blames himself for everything even when its not deserved or productive tho and i think if sollux is angry he's fine to let that happen to avoid having a difficult conversation

like i know i say this all the time but for me it all comes back to that sollux is like. societally and narratively an object and so everything he does is steeped in resentment for the fact that it's completely irrelevant vs his utility as a straight up battery. and karkat is kind of in the opposite position where societally he is considered completely useless and marked for death so he feels this overwhelming urge to make himself useful in some sense to try and prove that he has any worth at all. and i think this opposing dichotomy is interesting in that it creates two people who have on the surface similar anxieties that manifest in functionally opposite directions and then on top of all that they r still besties and can't fully extricate themselves from each other even though they r continually talking past each other

“Fuck, why’d you do that?” You angrily ask Monoma who had just aggressively pushed you against a locker. “Sorry babe, I just tripped.” He responded with a smirk as you rolled your eyes at his antics. You heard someone scoff as they walked past the scene, “So are you going to move then?” The voice asked, you noticed the familiar bright red hair and eyes and realized that it was your dear friend Kirishima. “Oh of course.” He said begrudgingly before moving his body away from yours. Kirishima’s demeanor quickly changed as he looked back at you with a huge smile on his face, “Hey M/N, it’ll be lunch soon… do you think we can eat together? I have this perfect spot under this really manly looking tree and it’s leaves are all orange and yellow-” before Kirishima could finish describing the scene and also before you could even think of a response Monoma interrupted him. “Yeah we’ll go, I’m pretty sure we have no plans.” He said before checking his watch in the most assholey way and then he put his arm over your shoulder smugly. “I was asking M/N.” Kirishima deadpanned and You rolled your eyes once again, “Well first I have to check in with Aizawa but then ill eat lunch with both of you.” You said while moving from Monoma’s Grasp and you started to walk to Aizawa’s classroom. Both pairs of eyes followed your figure till they could no longer see you.

“What was that for??” Kirishima asked, “I have no clue what you are going on about.” Monoma said back. “You know that M/N likes me right?” He said randomly which kinda threw Kirishima off. “I doubt that, I’m not going to fall for your little mind games. We both know that we both like him, and we both can't have him so we just need to let him pick who he wants.” Kirishima tried to reason. “You think it’s fair to make him pick between two of his best friends, either way he’s obviously going to pick me.” Monoma retorted. Kirishima thought for a moment about it and then soon realized that Monoma was actually right about this, it is not fair to make you pick. “Fine whatever, M/N should be heading to the cafeteria to pick up lunch soon. Let's just go.” He said with a semi annoyed look on his face while Monoma followed closely behind with his signature smirk. Once they got to the cafeteria they realized that they were a few minutes early and decided to buy lunch for them and you so you wouldn’t have to waste time standing in line. Once they got their food they saw you and the silhouette of a bunch of other kids. Kirishima waved to you and Monoma watched as you walked towards them. “Here ya go babe.” Monoma said while handing you a tray. “Thanks, are you guys ready to go? Lead the way kiri.” You said cheerfully. Both guys felt their hearts warm at your smile and Kirishima continued to walk in front of you while Monoma stayed next to you.

“Wow, that is one pretty tree.” You said, looking at the large tree that had yellow and red leaves falling off of each branch nicely. The three of you sat together on the grass and talked about random stuff for about 20 minutes until Monoma started a new conversation. “Hey M/N, do you like anyone here yet. Like, like-like them?” He asked while placing his chin in the palm of his hand planning on making a move. “Yeah I actually think I like two people, but since I like them both I’m not really sure what to do.” You said while fidgeting with your fingers. Kirishima chimed in, “how about you just tell them both and see what they think, what's the worst that could happen?” You chuckled, refusing to look them in the eyes. “They could not want to be friends with me anymore.” You sighed. “Who would not want to be friends with you, Especially for such a trivial reason.” Monoma interjected. “Yeah Monoma is right… for once. Anyone who would not want to be friends with you because of something like that is just an asshole.” Kirishima said. You could feel your face heat up a bit and you took a deep breath. “Well then, I guess I should take both of your advice and just tell them.” You looked at them both because starting back up. “Kiri, Monoma. I really REALLY like you both. They lay him on the bed, and mike says that olivier should stay with him. this makes gustave wake up, and he starts making whiny noises at mike from the bed, prompting mike to come over, and gustave pulls the same move he used on olivier, but this time with the intent to have mike stay. he tugs mike down next to him on the bed (which is honestly more of a nest), with olivier on his other side. he maneuvers them both so that they’re spooning him while he snuggles up to his full-size snorlax plush. mike pushes himself up so he can look at olivier over gustave, and says “we will all three discuss this tomorrow. i know the both of us have been pining over him for quite some time, and tonight’s events have made it pretty clear that the adorable, endearing, kind man laying between us feels the same. so, i think it’s safe to assume this sleeping configuration could become significantly more common for all three of us. now, go to sleep. i refuse to deal with two grumpy, sleep-deprived frenchmen.” olivier chuckled, and as he settled in and closed his eyes, he felt around for something on the blankets, then, smiling softly, intertwines his fingers with mike’s, and drifts off to sleep.

Hey so I have no idea how to publish a fanfic on tumblr besides just putting it up like this so hopefully this goes well.  I was posting on qoutev but it kept crashing my computer so tumblr it is.

Marlena Curtis May 1965 5 months before    "I hope all of you will take this summer to exercise your minds... You wouldn't want to go into your senior year with a head full of nothing, would you?"  Mr. Mays shouted at the class, he wasn't angry, just obnoxiously loud.  I looked across the room at my brother's best friend, Steve, hoping to have someone to smile with or pass a note too, but he obviously was not interested and instead was tracing the hand of a short girl with bobbed hair.  She was giggling as he made ugly monster claws out of her manicured fingers, it was kind of sweet honestly.  I sighed and leaned back in my chair, looking around the room for anyone else that might be alright with me.  Mr. Mays voice quieted as he saw no one really cared about his speech on polishing the young mind, he resulted to letting us free for the rest of the period.  I rested my head on my arms and decided to spend the class just sleeping instead of awkwardly trying to make conversation with the dry, ginger soc next to me.  She seemed like she wasn't very interested anyways.    The bell rung two minutes in to my daydream, which couldn't have made me happier, I jumped out of my seat and yanked my bag with me out the door.  Finally I could just do jack-shit and paint my nails instead of listening to the same monotone creeps lecture for hours and hours.  I nearly ran down the hallway towards my friends, Sophie and Jean, they were talking fast and smiled big when they saw me running down to see them.    "MARLI, tell your brother you're gonna be at my house tonight baking cookies or some sweet shit, Gene Vincent is gonna be at Sophie's cousin's bar tonight in Oklahoma City!  Her cousin said we can all get in no sweat."  Jean said, she was so excited her heavy eyeliner was creasing from smiling so wide.       

  "Holy shit, Sophie did your cousin really say we can go?  How much money?" I asked with a small twinge in my stomach, the past few months have been pretty tough on my wallet, I really wanted all my money to go into my younger brother's secret college fund.   

 "None baby!  That's a perk of having friends with connections, just pitch in two bucks or so for gas, my daddy is letting me take the Malibu, ain't that exciting?" Sophie cooed, she had this soft voice that could have sounded polite even if she was telling you where it seemed your head was stuck.  She was   rich too, man her family did well.  But she was still my friend, because she didn't care if I lived in a hollowed out coat closet my brother set up for me, she didn't believe in the social class war going on.    

  "I'm in man!  I'll tell Darry I'm going to have a sleepover with ya'll, he won't ask questions, he's too wrapped around the axel with Soda right now."  I grinned at them and listened quietly to the rest of their chatter.  They could get awful excited about something real fast, it was damn cute.     

 We walked out to Jean's boyfriends car, he was a doll, always chauffeuring her and her friends around Tulsa.  Speaking of the devil, Tommy came sprinting down the concrete steps and bear-hugged tiny Jean, making her scream and laugh.  

    "Hello sweetheart, ready to be done with the bullshit for a whole 2 months?" he was another one of those guys that seems to really just shout instead of talk, he nodded to Sophie and I and smiled nicely, "ya'll hangin' or goin' home?" 

   "I can stay a little, we're supposed to be in the City by 9 and we gotta leave at 7 or so.." Sophie chirped    

   "Just straight home for me, thanks, I gotta make an appearance so Darry doesn't get suspicious"  I knew full well that he would expect the worst if I never showed up at home.    I jumped down from Tommy's pick- up and yelled to Jean I would be at her house at 630.  I smoothed out my black corduroy skirt and re-tucked the ratty pink shirt I had owned since 9th grade.  My sneakers crunched down the gravel covering the alley behind my house as I walked towards the backward, where I heard my brother and their friends.  Not even the whole gang was there, but it was still loud as hell.     

          "Hey Marls how was the last day of school?  I  miss anything important?" laughed Two-bit, the rusty haired boy lay lazily on our back steps.      

           "Ha, it was fine, you didn't miss anything important.  Just that Mark guy offered me a whole year supply of marijuana if I would flash the principal at the assembly this morning"  I told him as I took a carton out of my bra and lit a smoke, I giggled a little when I saw him cock an eyebrow.  The nimrod probably thought I went through with it.     

           "So ya did it right?"  Demanded a bored looking Dallas Winston.  He sat next to my twin Soda, who was laughing quietly to himself, he probably knew I was too much of a wimp to leave school one some crazy note like that.   

           "Nah," I took a long drag, "I could get that shit for free by just winking at some of the squares in this town... But anyways, where did Darry go?  He working late or something?"   

           "No, he should be home in ten minutes or so, you gonna bail soon?" Soda asked   

            "Around 6ish I'm going over to Jean's, Sophie and I are gonna spend the night with her."  I told him without much worry, I was used to making up white lies at this point, Soda would likely not even care that I was going into the big city tonight, maybe he'd even think it was tuff I was sneaking off to a high class bar with my socy friends.   

             "Ain't Jean that middle-class broad with the giant jugs?" Dally half-joked, it was almost a long running gag that we had, since he couldn't make a move on me, being three of the gangs' sister, he has always tried his best to get at my friends.    I just rolled my eyes and took another drag of my cigarette, lettings the boys' conversation go this way and that and just listen.  That's kinda been my go-to lately, when my mom and dad died three months ago I lost a lot of my talkative edge.  Shit it's been three months already... I pushed my body lightly off of the side of the house and dragged myself inside.  My room really was just a scraped out coat closet.  I ain't gonna complain too bad about it though, Darry really did make it alright and it wasn't even too small of a closet to begin with.  Hell, if we were able to fit my little mattress and even my record player I bought when I was 11, it can't have been that bad.  My stomach was beginning to feel a little green, I had been smoking like a chimney since I got home, and my room ain't too breezy so that tobacco stench really liked to hang around.   

           "Marlena?" I heard my oldest brother knocking at my door, he opened it and immediately looked a little peeved, "Oh lordy!  Did ya just set a whole carton of marbolos on fire?  It's a goddamn wildfire in here, you keep smoking like this and I'm gonna have to start checking what you buy at the store now, ya dig?"    

           "Yeah, I know.  Hey Darry?"  I said, without the slightest intention of cutting down on my habit, "I'm gonna go to Jean's tonight, Sophie will be there too, that cool?"    "That's fine" he said walking back to the kitchen.  I followed him out and just followed suit, he got a glass of water, I got one too.  We didn't even talk the whole time,  he's kinda been quiet lately too.  When our parents died in that accident everyone took on a different kind of burden, but sometimes I think Darry feels like he took the whole load, and maybe that's why he's so damn stressed. Coming home from the funeral with my brothers felt like I had just taken a few strangers from the graveyard and said "you'll do."  Darry used to be that real fun, hilarious older brother.  We used to go out all the time and just talk about everything.  We would talk about how mom was a little too harsh sometimes on people and that it was pretty funny that dad would just push her buttons when she would get annoyed by the little things.  My youngest brother, Ponyboy, well he just downright terrifies me the way their deaths changed him.  He didn't use to be so dreamy all the time, he always had a big imagination, but this time it's different, he tried to follow mom and dad's souls up to heaven and got stuck somewhere between space and the East Side.  Sodapop though, he seemed to take it the healthiest, he wasn't shy about bawling and howling like an idiot at the funeral.  He had to express how he felt, so he did.  But one thing that did change was the side of him people usually forgot about started to rear its ugly head just a little more every once in a while.  Soda is charming and nice, but he's also reckless and clumsy and he won't look before he just starts running.  I'm not trying to  but my brothers in  a bad light though, I certainly haven't been perfect since the accident either.

             Jean's dad was in the army, and her mom was a nurse, so they got along pretty okay.  She wasn't by any means rich, but she surely never had a shortage of cash by the end of the month.  Her house was just a quick bus ride from my neighborhood, it was two stories, well kept, and all the bathrooms were pink.  I knocked on the door and not even a second later it was the bermuda triangle of "can you answer that?" between her and her parents.  It was her mom who came to the door, she was a real neat lady.  Joan's mom was actually real tough, she had a hard life as a kid and she don't have the easiest job in the world.

    "Hello Marls!  Don't you look like a doll tonight?"  She smiled up at me, I am pretty tall for a girl and I usually tower over most ladies I meet. 

   "Thank-you Mrs. Massey, it's just my school clothes, but I figured it would be alright for tonight, ha," I tried my best to sound like a nice girl, but she was just so damn down to earth I really don't think she'd judge me too harsh.  She let me in and walked me all the way to Jean's room, asking about my brothers and if Pony was proud of himself that he came in 2nd at his last track meet.  It was nice talking to a mom.

      Jean popped up from the floor when I walked in, "You ready to leave soon?  I just gotta find my lipstick and Sophie will be here soon, we're gonna get burgers at Dairy Queen on the way out of  town, my mom gave me food money if any of us need."  she spoke briskly and with a butt-load of excitement. 

   "Yeah I'm all set" I giggled quietly as she threw tubes of makeup to the floor trying to find her token lipstick. She got it and we tumbled down the stairs just as Sophie was pulling up to the house.

Y-Destiny (KaengPuth) Live Blogging

I am in a little BL slump where I'm at a loss as to what to start next because all the Thai shows are so long but I don't wanna start a 12 hour series today, so I'm gonna just watch the 2 episodes for this couple because everybody loves them. It might be confusing because I'm literally just gonna watch episodes 9 and 10 with no prior knowledge of anything else in the show but oh well.

Episode 9 (Mar 30)

Bruh okay I got so nervous in the first few minutes like ?? Is that child Kaeng? But no, whew.

I love love love characters who sleep around with people but I don't like that Puth seems to not be straightforward with his partners? The people who call him seem to be under the impression he's only dating/having sex with them?

I think Leon from Don't Say No was my favourite in terms of this because he slept around but he was always explicitly clear with everybody that it's not exclusive, that he sleeps with other people too, no strings attached, etc

Okay, interesting episode! Good at pulling you in, I'm already fairly invested. The translations are weird and I don't like the sound effects and I think they're putting too much emphasis on Puth/Payu for such a short story but there's something very magnetic about Kaeng, the nsfw scenes are very natural that don't veer into awkward or over the top territory, and it's an engaging story.

Also love that Puth and Kaeng switch during sex, another of my favourite dynamics along with the fuck buddies but one of them catches feelings thing

Episode 10 (Mar 30)

I really liked it at the beginning but they dragged out the love triangle for too long. Puth and Puya had more cute moments than Kaeng and Puth did because they mostly just had sexy moments. Them having nsfw scenes is fine because they started off being fuck buddies, after all, but the show didn't spend time developing their relationship outside of sex, so it falls a little flat. They definitely shouldn't have had Puth dating Puya for this long.

Maybe they have some cute moments in the next 5 episodes but I won't be watching to find out.

ok idt i've written abt this manhwa here yet but looked at the latest updates for even if you don't love me and wow uh hm. actually very intrigued by the conflict bw the main 2 rn.

i don't actually really actively follow this manhwa bc i'm not a huge fan of love triangles (does blondie even count as being part of that triangle tho) and rich guys taking advantage of ppl ... yes yes i know seungeon has a change of heart and personality of sorts based on me back-reading lol but also at the same time i'm like HUH at the idea that jiwook somehow actually genuinely likes him back. like i think it's mainly bc jiwook hasn't really had someone really genuinely love him before so he's like uwaaaah ok but again yeah i don't really remember a lot of the developments so. also the recent thing where [spoilers] blondie killed the idol's manager took me out fr, one day i was like oh i wonder what's happening in this manhwa lately and then i fucking open to that.... like the reader comments said, 0 to 100 real damn quick. i honestly thought manager x idol was gonna be a thing but i mean it's def a set up i feel for the idol guy to be a minor antagonist of sorts. slash indicating idol guy is also kind of fucked up based on the fact he was kind of like 'oh you want me to stay quiet? then give me fame/money in exchange' and didn't seem that fucked up over it past him literally witnessing a murder but it was as if he witnessed a stranger being murdered you get me? like he didn't seem that sad over the fact that it was his manager who had tried to protect him who got killed. anyway so blondie gets taken out temporarily and i'm like cool bc idc abt him tbh. i didn't even read his probably tragic backstory

back to the main two. so basically sadly jiwook gets caught up in having to pay back a huge ass loan and i'm just here being like can poor characters in manhwas get a break for once? jesus. anyway i was "ok so they'll prob miscommunicate again and jiwook will not want to tell seungeon abt the loan shit. and bc of the stress of working off that loan jiwook will drift away from seungeon but seungeon will think jiwook is still 'mad' from the other day and misunderstand esp bc jiwook will not clarify". even tho a loan of that severity is a pretty big deal and i'm sure you couldn't help but just blurt it out but i was like so far we know they're prone to miscommunication so ...

(put the rest under cut bc it discusses spoilers re: this development and also it got kind of long lol. tl;dr it's just me discussing where i think the story could go/my thoughts on the story based on present details and extrapolations)

anyway i read the raws for the next part and surprisingly enough jiwook actually does tell him abt the loan and then interestingly we have seungeon visibly taken aback by the loan amount yet still tries to get the money from his fam to help jiwook pay it all off... which is interesting bc that amount is nothing to scoff at even for a rich person. bc assume most of seungeon's previous personal expenses are usually like let's say 500k at the most expensive... (using usd here lol idk korean won. i'm not rich so i honestly have very little idea how much the really expensive stuff is. prob 80-100k would be more realistic as the highest single expense as seungeon prob doesn't like buy out entire companies or something for kicks or get in a ton of accidents, just entertainment purchases) suddenly asking for 1mil all at once is lol. esp since it's not really his own money he's throwing around.

the loan had to come up anyway bc the loan sharks confiscated jiwook's phone and (based on my interp of the raws. didn't translate this part out of korean) saw that seungeon had called him a ton and were like we can harass this friend too heh and jiwook overhearing this was like shit i can't get him involved even more when i already feel some sense of guilt abt him (also just realized writing this that they prob also recognized seungeon's family name and were like HEH SHAKING THE RICH DOWN FOR MONEY TOO? SCORE!! and we already know that jiwook is concerned for seungeon's wellbeing so). i was thinking abt the phone situation too esp with that panel focusing on jiwook handing the phone over with the reader's knowledge that seungeon had called jiwook a ton previously and i mean. of course the loan sharks wouldn't just leave the phone off forever right lol

anyway so yeah jiwook tells seungeon abt the loan and the amount and seungeon seems like he's gonna try to help pay off a majority of it for him... i'm intrigued by this bc it very much feels like jiwook essentially using seungeon and his feelings to help pay off the loan. i mean from the raws it's obvious that jiwook is hesitant to do so but his back is against the wall and he knows seungeon is willing to do a lot of stuff for him... makes me wonder how much their relationship will change after this. i was thinking it would be a case of seungeon going back to the family corp and being like yes i will agree to be your heir even though previously i said i didn't want to so i can get the money to help jiwook, but i back-read and it looks like seungeon already plans to inherit the company anyway so that can't be it.

i also went back and read the first few pages of ch 1 bc i knew it was abt jiwook yelling at seungeon for fucking him over and i used to think it took place when they were adults but now i'm like hmm... maybe it actually takes place in the near future from the current story aka right after high school graduation. which is a little disappointing to me tbh bc then it feels more like those scenes are from the middle of the story rather than at the end (i mean based on the author's last manhwa i know they write hella long stories. and the things jiwook talks abt in those early scenes have already all been laid out on the table) but makes the most sense unless they do a timeskip.

anyway i'll be looking out for the next few updates i guess. it feels like seungeon is willing to do a lot for jiwook to keep his love/affection and i'd like to see if jiwook sticks with his current values of not depending on him or changes to start using jiwook. i mean the loan is a pretty big deal and is def gonna put a strain on their relationship esp seeing their confrontation in ch 1 so even though i'm partially like "god stop with the drama already" i'm also like "ok let's see where this goes". and then there's some plot points that still have to be resolved: blondie and idol guy clearly have to be coming back bc they didn't really get entirely concluded, and there's the whole thing with the sister eventually finding out that the lover seungeon was hiding is actually a guy (bc we gotta get that homophobia aspect in here too ha ha ha (sarcasm)). also i'm afraid for the dog tbh, i was so scared thinking jiwook or seungeon was gonna kick it in the latest ch out of their frustration w each other but they didn't thankfully... but it's prob gonna come up again if you know what i mean and i'm like good god not only we got rape and a murder in this story but also animal abuse ??? i don't wanna see it !!!! anyway i'm telling you now: jiwook is gonna get attached to it and then the loan sharks are gonna come around demanding money that he still doesn't have and they're gonna abuse the dog as a result making jiwook lose it low-key. after the author literally put an entire murder in the story with pretty explicit violence and blood, i don't doubt that it's gonna happen. AND I DON'T WANNA SEE IT!

Yeah, they changed that part orz I’m really unhappy about that for a number of reasons, but I guess their reasoning was that they wanted the anime to end with the Baku Deku vs All Might fight and in the manga that’s, like, the second fight to be done with? And if they had kept the order the anime would have ended with Mineta and Sero, so… I guess I get why they went for this, but still. I can’t say I like it orz

I’m pretty sure I gave an in depth answer to this question a couple of times already, but do you think I’ve been able to find it? (I haven’t) so to make a fast recap, I only like them as friends, nothing sexual and nothing romantic - I really, really, really want to see them become friends, but I can’t see the necessary chemistry for any other kind of relationship between them, right now

And that’s also why I don’t ship it? I just can’t see it working in a way such that both of them are as happy as they can be, and I only ship if I can see both characters being happy in the relationship - foundamentally Bakugou and Izuku are different on all the wrong things, a big part of the reason why they fight so much is that their ways of living are different, to make a space for each other in their lives big enough that they won’t step on each other’s toes every two steps they take they should change their core personalities a lot. 

And I’m not talking about Bakugou, specifically, I’m talking about both of them. I do know that the fandom likes to pick Bakugou and turn his personality inside-out to make him fit with Deku in such a way that Deku will be happy, but realistically that’s only gonna make Bakugou miserable. It’s true that most faults rest on Bakugou’s shoulders as far as their relationship goes, but Deku isn’t the sort of person fit to be with Bakugou either - and I can’t have Bakugou make a 180° on his personality, force himself to be someone he’s not, just to accomodate Deku. I like Bakugou as he is, and I want to see him grow up while growing into himself. And while I do prefer Bakugou as a character, I happen to like Deku as he is very much as well, I don’t want him to turn into another person just to accomodate Bakugou’s personality either

So this turns into “either I change these two characters to make them fit together, or I let them be just friends and actually find characters that do fit with them as they are already”, and personally, I’m always gonna go for the second option. I mean, why would I want to ship them when I can ship bakushima t b h

Of course you’re free to ship it if to you the chemistry is more obvious than it is to me! It’s just not my cup of tea at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
