their loved ones when it's time to switch who is in charge of monitoring them
Tumblr media
i'm just imagining a hypothermic character wrapped up in a fluffy blanket burrito-style, nice and snug, while their loved ones keep watch over them throughout the night, holding them and cradling them in various positions as they get passed around person to person, feeling so loved and safe <3

Please consider giving your whumpees the hottest, most mind-melting, intestine-boiling, miserable fever, leaving her with barely functional lungs/glazed and distant eyes/an inability to keep anything down/constant dehydration/sweat soaking everything, and with her team/caretakers completely stressed out and unsure what to do. Bonus points if it's from an infected wound. Okay thanks for considering <3

normally Scenario B (and related ideas) is my bread and butter but now that Scenario A has been suggested my brain has been itched and i want to spread some propaganda in favor of it
i'm imagining Character X is a new person in town or on a team, maybe shy, maybe offputting, and Character Y is not in the mood for making new friends. they can be anything from a little cold but well-mannered to outright hostile to X's presence
at some point the stars align and Character Z kidnaps them both. turns out that Z is some sort of stalker from X's past who has been watching how X's new "friends" have been treating them, how these "friends" could never be good enough for X like Z is. Y has been the worst offender, so now it's up to Y to make sure they both get out of this awful "game show" alive
the fear? the panic?? the angst??? can you imagine if Y was warming up to X and they were slowly starting to become real friends around the time Z enacted their plan? there would be so much guilt. Y for not being nicer to X sooner, X for dragging Y into the situation in the first place (if it's not obvious i am a big Guilt Enjoyer(TM))
i have been fed with many ideas bless this poll
Pick a scenario
Scenario A — Whumper holds Whumpee hostage and forces Caretaker to play a quiz game to free them. Every time Caretaker gets an answer wrong, Whumper injects Whumpee with a syringe full of drugs, sedative, or poison.
Scenario B — Whumper holds Whumpee hostage and forces Caretaker to torture Whumpee themself with tools selected by Whumper. If Caretaker refuses to torture Whumpee with the tools provided, Whumper will do it themself, and it will be a lot worse for Whumpee.
This request was sent to us and we made a poll in response to it. Send any Blorbo-related question you want to our inbox and we’ll make a poll on which people can vote with their own Blorbos in minds

idc what the context is, characters going "shhh, shhh" and "it's going to be okay" with the softest voice imaginable to another character in the middle of a breakdown ALWAYS makes me go !!!!

whumpees being used as decoration, surrounded by enemies:
handcuffed to a chair in the middle of a room where a business meeting is taking place.
dressed in black tie, and then tied and gagged at the head of the table as whumper conducts a fancy dinner party.
pinned to a wall of an office or living room or private study like a butterfly under a case, hands impaled and bleeding freely.
left to dangle from their wrists in a public location, under an arch or a stairway maybe.
kept in a hanging cage in a trophy room amidst the tokens of whumper's previous conquests.
chained to the foot of a throne, forced to kneel at all times, a permanent reminder of whumper's absolute power over both them and the realm they just won.
lugged around to wherever Whumper happens to want to take them, led to parties or events via a leash attached to a collar, hands bound behind their back so they can't even brace their fall if Whumper tugs too hard.
left overnight in a public place, tied to a fencepost or dangling from a tree branch. everyone knows exactly who left them there, and who they belong to, and so no one would dare touch them to help.
tied up and used as a human dartboard in some seedy beer hall.
restrained in a brutally demanding stress position and left to wobble and pant and squirm in a lobby or entrance of some underground organization as a reminder of what happens to anyone who tries to doublecross the boss.
the helplessness of any of these positions, of being poked and prodded by passersby or henchmen, especially people who whumpee has had the upper hand against in the past. now reduced to just sitting/standing there and being left at the mercy of whoever walks by.

writing advice for characters with a missing eye: dear God does losing an eyes function fuck up your neck. Ever since mine crapped out I've been slowly and unconsciously shifting towards holding my head at an angle to put the good eye closer to the center. and human necks. are not meant to accommodate that sorta thing.

gentle caretakers who holds whumpee close to their chests, cradles whumpee’s head in their laps, tuck whumpees safely in their arms. murmuring soft shhhs and it’s okays under their breath as they keep pressure on bleeding wounds, as they coax whumpee to stay awake, as they pray the team makes it on time.
whether they stay calm without a sign of worry or tremble with fear at the possibility of losing whumpee, they remain whumpee’s only source of comfort until help can arrive.

10 Non-Lethal Injuries to Add Pain to Your Writing
If you need a simple way to make your characters feel pain, here are some ideas:
1. Sprained Ankle
A common injury that can severely limit mobility. This is useful because your characters will have to experience a mild struggle and adapt their plans to their new lack of mobiliy. Perfect to add tension to a chase scene.
2. Rib Contusion
A painful bruise on the ribs can make breathing difficult, helping you sneak in those ragged wheezes during a fight scene. Could also be used for something sport-related! It's impactful enough to leave a lingering pain but not enough to hinder their overall movement.
3. Concussions
This common brain injury can lead to confusion, dizziness, and mood swings, affecting a character’s judgment heavily. It can also cause mild amnesia.
I enjoy using concussions when you need another character to subtly take over the fight/scene, it's an easy way to switch POVs. You could also use it if you need a 'cute' recovery moment with A and B.
4. Fractured Finger
A broken finger can complicate tasks that require fine motor skills. This would be perfect for characters like artists, writers, etc. Or, a fighter who brushes it off as nothing till they try to throw a punch and are hit with pain.
5. Road Rash
Road rash is an abrasion caused by friction. Aka scraping skin. The raw, painful sting resulting from a fall can be a quick but effective way to add pain to your writing. Tip: it's great if you need a mild injury for a child.
6. Shoulder Dislocation
This injury can be excruciating and often leads to an inability to use one arm, forcing characters to confront their limitations while adding urgency to their situation. Good for torture scenes.
7. Deep Laceration
A deep laceration is a cut that requires stitches. As someone who got stitches as a kid, they really aren't that bad! A 2-3 inch wound (in length) provides just enough pain and blood to add that dramatic flair to your writing while not severely deterring your character.
This is also a great wound to look back on since it often scars. Note: the deeper and wider the cut the worse your character's condition. Don't give them a 5 inch deep gash and call that mild.
8. Burns
Whether from fire, chemicals, or hot surfaces, burns can cause intense suffering and lingering trauma. Like the previous injury, the lasting physical and emotional trauma of a burn is a great wound for characters to look back on.
If you want to explore writing burns, read here.
9. Pulled Muscle
This can create ongoing pain and restrict movement, offering a window to force your character to lean on another. Note: I personally use muscle related injuries when I want to focus more on the pain and sprains to focus on a lack of mobility.
10. Tendonitis
Inflammation of a tendon can cause chronic pain and limit a character's ability to perform tasks they usually take for granted. When exploring tendonitis make sure you research well as this can easily turn into a more severe injury.
This is a quick, brief list of ideas to provide writers inspiration. Since it is a shorter blog, I have not covered the injuries in detail. This is inspiration, not a thorough guide. Happy writing! :)

WE DID IT YALL
it's crazy to think a small stadium's worth of people follow me and are interested in the things i post. i guess that's just the power of hurt/comfort babee!!
as i said a few days ago, i'm thinking of going and finding a request post and opening requests. partially to loosen up my writer's block but also as a distraction from. Recent Events(TM)
unfortunately, since i am nearing the end of the semester, i am piling up quite a few important tests and reports that need to be studied for and/or turned in, and i'm already procrastinating shit due to my shiny hunting addiction lmao so it might Be A While
BUT i do plan to have something out before the year ends! perhaps something like i take requests over the holidays and then post them over new years as like a symbolic "fresh start" type of deal
regardless of my ramblings, i appreciate all of you so much: those who have been here since the beginning, those who only showed up recently, and those who have come and gone, just know that i love each and every one of you in this community, and i hope to see you keep whumping even in these trying times <3
