The Vampire Aesthetic

Ok so Danny knows two billionaires personally and they really couldn’t be more different. Yet they had one thing in common. A vampire aesthetic. Sam is fully into goth. Spiderwebs, bats, the color black. She enjoys fangs and fake blood and the darkness of her soul. Meanwhile, Vlad is Vlad. If his name wasn’t enough, the dark clothing, pale skin, and flying around with a cape and fangs with coffins in his mansion really sells it.

Danny doesn’t know many rich people so he thinks this might be some kind of trend. (If Paulina is rich, her family likes the chupacabra) So he just thinks that all rich people have some kind of vampire thing going on.

Cue Danny somehow ending in the Wayne household. Maybe he was brought over as a friend of one of the bats, maybe rescued from a field trip/vacation gone wrong, maybe some other situation. But he is there in civilian form with civilian Waynes and Danny just takes a good long look around the inside of the mansion.

“So where’s the vampire aesthetic?

Everyone freezes.

Danny just starts looking around, checking behind paintings and feeling the walls for secret levers. Used to secret passages with Vlad and possibly Sam. The Fentons definitely had them when they were temporarily rich.

“Come on, I know you guys are hiding it.”

Cue the entire batfamily thinking that this is another Tim and that he is fully aware that these people are the batfamily. Danny hangs around the mansion more and the bats just start dropping their disguises and not even bothering to hide stuff around Danny because they assume he already knows. (Possibly even trying to recruit him to be a new bat) Meanwhile, Danny, who does not know these people are batman and his birds, just does not pick up on any of it.

He grew up in a health violation with a giant ballon observatory lab above his head and a portal to the afterlife in his basement. He is a half dead teenager who has tea with the god of time and his godfather is the other parent to his clone child. He’s used to death lazers being scattered across his home and mysterious stains on clothing.

People are weird! He doesn’t judge!

I need codependent Danny/Jason as a little treat (for me) and I love the idea of them having some sort of instant connection the moment they meet (bc ghost stuff idk)

Danny who's been dropped in Gotham with no way home (alt universe??) and he's been here for 36 hours and having a Very bad time senses a liminal being and immediately latches onto them heedless of the fact that his new best friend is shooting at some seedy guys in an alley and goes off about how stressed he is and how he can't make it back to the ghost zone and what a bad day he's been having (and it's important to note Danny is a littol ghost boy literally hanging off of Jason's neck as he floats aimlessly) and Jason is like "who are you??" And Danny is like "oh sorry I'm Danny lol" and then just continues lamenting his woes

And honestly ? This might as well happen. Nothing about this Danny guy(is he human?) gives Jason a bad vibe and tbh he's never felt more calm and level headed before so he just keeps up his usual Red Hood patrol and doesn't even think about it when he heads back to a safehouse and feeds Danny dinner (breakfast) before crashing for half the day

The only thing I actually need is Jason meeting up with the bats for some sort of Intel meeting and they're like "uhhh who's that" and Jason is like "that's Danny." And does not elaborate (very ".... What do you have there?" "A smoothie" vibes)

And it takes them a while to realize that these two have known each other for less than 12 hours and are literally attached at the hip

…OK, SO WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS-

I had planned to finish this into a full fledged animation, but a lot of the parts I did end up finishing just didnt live up to what I imagined…I waited for more motivation to happen, but it just didnt so HERES THE COLORED ANIMATIC CAUSE IM REALLLY HAPPY WITH WHAT I HAVE and ive sat on posting this for like a 2 weeks 😭 which is an eternity in my time

Im gonna post the unfinished “finished” part on my side account @o-sunny-day though! and probably have people yell at me cause it actually isnt that bad AND IT TOTALLY ISNT I just… art. You get it. ENOUGH YAPPING! ITS TIME TO YAP!

The explaining is much less expansive than in Dear My Dear just because I didnt work on it long enough to think every bit of it through. This is just a clean, nicer looking, and colored version of the very first storyboard.

I usually think about and put more effort into the little stuff while making the FINISHED bits since ive had so much more time to think about that in all the preppin n sketching.

BUT I liked the explaining format I did for Dear My Dear so im sticking with it!

The main idea for this was to do a study of Wingdings’ character from what we’ve been given, mainly focusing in on the expectations he puts on himself because holy shit the lyrics for this works so stupidly well it makes me mad LOOK AT THIS???

Wingdings and Sans holding hands as kids, before turning to a casket like appearance for adult WD. The flowers hes holding are pretty important too, Marigolds to represent grief, Lilys, new life, and Forget Me Nots for this lovely little line I found when looking up good flowers to use-

“a promise to always remember” ….stop that.

That actually also has a double meaning in this case too. 1, ofc the forgetting of Wingdings. But ALSO Wingdings forgetting something himself. Forgetting who he is. Almost like a Zuko ATLA situation.

Did you have a family?

Who knows where theyre parents are, but this is HAPPY TIME and we’re gonna assume they were so awesome and very kind but had to leave or went to a farm in the sky for whatever reason.

The colors here I had a lot of fun with. Their parents had warm colors but the boys have cold, still with warm accents. Its said they more or less raised each other being very independent as shown in the second part with them running out the door by themselves.

How was the view from the shelf? Did you ever believe in yourself?

Before, we started with the beginnings. The good things, the only thing Wingdings cares to even recall. Now we’re seeing his life really start to turn upside down- making first contact with The Player :D

He’s hesitant to reach out, but is intrigued, before getting a rushing revelation of his reality and how it isnt “real”

Rather than feeling crushing existential dread, he more feels pressured to be BETTER, to figure a solution, to do something. Thats what white represents here

WHAT KIND OF MILK WERE YOU?

We then switch to more examples of how Wingdings is taking this pressure (not well) The soft tones of yellow that were shown before, turn to way brighter, intensifying that feeling that he should be fine, he should be happy, drowning in success of being the Royal Scientist.

But he just desperately wants to just go back to a time of nice coldness.

The warm vs cold tones in this I had so much fun with, coldness is supposed to represent hostility usually, while warm is nice and happy. (same with Black and white. Scary, relieving,) But these points often contradict each other, its hard to tell what you’re feeling vs what you’re supposed to be feeling. Just like Wingdings!

WHAT KIND OF LIFE DID YOU LIVE THROUGH?

The white lab coats, the expectations, theyre on all of them. But Wingdings has essentially become his expectations.

He questions what life he wants to live, one being himself and alone (speaking in wingdings) or not himself and with company (speaking in a “normal” font) Still, he frames it in past tense as he believes theres no going back now, based on what he knows.

“One of the last happy moments they had together” stop that. (i cant find a link to when that was said but I know it was once, about them taking a photo together….)

DID YOUR LIFE RUN RICH WITH CALCIUM?

Compared to the childhood Wingdings remembered, heres the sadder, bleaker, more realistic version. He always thought they were laughing at him but… maybe they werent.

It doesnt matter now though. Because in the NOW, Wingdings has become consumed by his expectations of himself, seeing this has the “only option” to do the only thing that he feels will give his life meaning and purpose, establishing connection with THE PLAYER

But the grocery list goes on…

And yet life continues on without him, and his room is transformed into a more livable space now that someone is…living in it. Always hurts so much making the differences between Wingdings and Papyrus’ room. It feels like making something out of the man Wingdings COULD HAVE been. Because honestly thats just what Papyrus is,

I'm trying to avoid getting spoiled so I haven't looked up what's happening in the Jp server's main story, but for my own sanity I need to ask; is the story at a point where we know whether Lilia will get better/survive his almost-empty magic reserves..? Was it a true death flag from the start or only a plot device for malleus' overblot....?

not yet! I do think they're going to get back to it eventually, but -- keeping it as low spoilers as possible -- there's been...let's just say a LOT going on in the meantime.

merlin’s secret being a visual thing. when he is around arthur or gwen or leon or morgana or [insert whatever character here] merlin seems pale and thin, almost like a ghost or an apparition. when the sun lands on him he reflects it like a corpse, he eyes seem dark and dull. he has this ethereal beauty to him, this otherworldly visage that leads many to believe he is of fae blood. he just doesn’t seem to be 100% human. but when he is ONLY with lancelot or gaius (cough or gwaine bc gwaine DEFINITELY knew) merlin is heartachingly human. merlin shines in the sunlight, colors are brighter and more vibrant around him, and his smiles are wide and his laughs are boisterous. he takes on color and leaves everyone wanting to know him. but when other join in or interact with the two, merlin shifts before their eyes so quickly and suddenly that they aren’t sure whether or not what they saw was a trick of the light. the idea still leaves them wanting more and wanting to see the merlin who is just so full of life but that merlin only appears for a small select group of people. merlin who has a guard so high that it has an effect of other’s perception of him.

thinking about a young trans cal and a young andre.

(kind of a long post?? sorry lolol)

andre would be the very first person the boy tells. he'd be a mess of tears, shaking like a leaf in fear of his very best friend hating him for eternity because of who he truly was. the boy would lose his other half... only,,, no. he wouldn't. his best friend didn't do any of that actually. andre would sit there as he listened and watched his best friend messily explain himself, nodding with furrowed brows. he'd be quiet for a little bit, just staring. after a while he'd ask "then,,, who are you?" in that subtle accent of his. (he hadn't quite lost it yet.)

at first, cal couldn't tell rachel. she wouldn't understand. she didn't understand him like andre did, even if theyd been friends since elementary. him and andre had only been friends for three years now, they were in the big grade 8.

this would stop the boy for a second. he'd pause. he didn't know. he didn't even know he wanted to be "calvin" yet, all he knew was that he wasn't a girl. he was a boy. so, in light of this, andre would grab his best friends arm and drag him to the gabriel household bathroom. grabbing a pair of navy blue kraft scissors from his backpack, he tells his very best friend to wait in the bathroom while he grabs a stool for him.

andre sits his best friend down, locks the door, and stands behind him. "there was gum in your hair." he tells the boy in front of him, "we had to cut it." the boy just nods, wiping the hot tears from his face, however now his quivering lip had stilled into an almost nervous smile. the boy was practically grinning from ear to ear.

a mess of blonde locks found their way to the floor, snip after careful snip. andre had honestly never been so focused in his life, just wanting his other half to finally feel comfortable in his own skin. it'd been maybe an hour before andre had set the scissors down on the sink, a few strands of soft gold still stuck between the hinges. andre pats the boy on his shoulders, admiring his handywork in the mirror infront of them. it definitely wasn't the best haircut ever, but it probably wasn't the worst. it was extremely choppy, a little uneven, and most likely damaging to hair stylists around the world, but when the boy looked in the mirror he finally saw himself.

the two boys would then move to the eldest gabriels room, laying side by side on the long end of his bed. andre listed masculine type names and his best friend would rate them on how well he liked them.

"ethan?"

"ew, no, too dorky."

"ashton?"

"too edgy?"

"heheh, okay, what about eric..?"

"mmeh, too generic."

"oh come on dude, you're so picky."

"you just SUCK at picking names."

"..."

"..."

"... calvin?"

there it was. the silence between them was their answer. andre would turn his head to the side, a proud smile on his face as he read the boys expression. his best friend then would turn his head towards him, a relieved look on his face.

entirely incorrect i'm sure but a silly thing I was just wondering about was yk how in the promised consort radahn fight during his phase change radahn looks like THIS:

and then miquella comes in and this strange red aura fades from radahn and it's replaced by miquella's golden light

(forgive me for the atrocious picture but)

and then miquella himself comes and joins the fight by just piggybacking on radhan

and ik this comparison's probably been made before, but I found miquella and radahn's pose really interesting along with the details of radahn being surrounded by this glowing red aura and literally SHAKING the ground during his mid-phase cutscene, looking absolutely FERAL, before miquella comes in and radahn seems to calm down (sort of????) in a way and the glowing red is instead replaced by miquella's gold before the aura completely vanishes.

and what it reminded me of was primarily godfrey and serosh

and i wondered if this was that kind of scenario because with godfrey and serosh, godfrey took serosh upon his back to suppress his lust for battle so that he could act as a 'proper lord'

so i wonder if during that cutscene when we see radahn glowing RED and shaking the ground and generally looking altogether terrifying, we're basically seeing radahn's bloodlust/lust for battle arise before miquella comes in and suppresses that urge; he ends up acting as the serosh to radahn's godfrey to suppress this battle lust so that radahn can act as a 'proper lord' or something along those lines.

just something i was thinking about because I was rewatching PCR's cutscene (it's so insanely cool.) and I just wondered about this detail. It's definitely wrong but I find it interesting to think on all the same.
