You almost think maybe he let the question be buried but it comes again, in a voice much fragile than you’d have expected.

Cupping his cheek, your gaze reassuring yet the fear always sits at the pit of his stomach. “Well but think of it this way:” thumb grazing over his cheek and drawing circles to his skin. “Isn’t it beautiful we will be each other’s last?”

A slight nod, slow and small, like he is weighing your words, registering the far and beyonds of it. It’s only the movement of your thumb, your weight and your breath brushing against his skin that grounds him to reality.

Something shines in your eyes and Narumi realizes this is not the final of your words regarding the matter- afraid of what he will hear and equally curious.

“And well, there are some firsts you hold in your palm too.” Your face draws near as you speak, your nose brushing against his face. “First proper date,” you brush your lips against his neck, feeling him shudder under you at the contact.

“First monthiversaries…” you continue and let your hands roam, the one cupping his cheek now finding the nape of his neck, other one holding his shoulder for support.

“First time making love.” You say it like honey dripping down your lips as you sink onto his length and Narumi Gen feels himself combust at the overwhelming emotions- overriding with too much, too many senses all at once, forgetting to breathe, forgetting everything—

“Pff” he pushes back slightly, pursing his lips and turning to the side, avoiding you as much as the lack of space between your bodies allows.

“If you mean the one in my lap,” he says as your grip on his nape tightens, pulling him back to you, “As if” and at once, he closes the gap between the two of you, capturing your lips with a kiss.

Did I binge it all in one day, really enjoy the story, and crave more? Yes

Did I open Ao3 and notice that my favorite character, Hoshina, is being shipped with Narumi—who, despite being the reason I watched the anime, was barely in the last five minutes of it? Yes

Did that make me binge-read the entire manga in the same night just to understand why they’re shipped together, in the process getting into the story even more? Yes
