You looked at the soup as you stirred it, not wanting to slop it out of the pot, wasting it and spilling it on the spell heating it, but when you weren't manipulating the contents of the pot, just absently moving the spoon, you were looking towards the little fire for warmth, and Mithrun seated near it. His expression alongside the heaviness of his eyelids had you thinking he must have been a little more aware of his exhaustion this time.

You tutted softly, going back to the soup. It would be ready soon, anyway. He could eat and then get his rest.

You brought a bowl over to him, billowing steam as you settled next to him. "Food's done."

He turned his gaze to you. "Thank you."

He picked up the spoon and started to eat, though it was at a languid pace. He looked up at you, when he felt your gaze on him. "Yes?"

You shook your head. "Is it okay?"

"Yeah," he said finally. "It's good."

He was getting more tired, moving more slowly. You took the spoon gently and gathered up the last mouthful of soup for him. "Here."

He opened up and let you feed him, and swallowed with a grateful sound.

"I was going to offer you tea," you said with a little laugh, "but you don't need any help sleeping, do you?"

He let out a dry laugh. "No. But thank you."

He settled into a more comfortable position to hold for a longer time, still close to the fire, but noticeably closer to you.

When he'd fallen fairly deeply asleep, you petted his hair, sipping your tea and watching the fire crackle, its shifting shadow in a similar rhythm to Mithrun's breaths. He sighed in his sleep and moved a little closer to you.

I'll tell one story from the trip tho!!

So Germany yes. That was added to my trip because I wanted to meetup with a friend there AND there was a really cool painting I liked that was in the Hamburg Kunsthalle, and Hamburg is right below Denmark so it was practically on the way!!

The painting in question? A wanderer above a sea of fog.

This painting is the whole reason I started getting into art/art history. In my philosophy class I took last year, we had a brief section on the Romantic period of history and I found it super fascinating and one of the examples from that period we learnt about was this painting.

This painting represents one of the core beliefs of the Romanticism period: finding yourself back in touch with nature.

The Enlightenment was all about science and cold hard facts and technology and blahblahblah and the Romantic period was the response to that, it pushed back against it. It was about love and reconnecting with nature and embracing chaos and i just ARGHRHT i know it Definitely (and I mean really, it definitely) had its flaws, but idk:)) it just really spoke to me and the painting itself is absolutely gorgeous. It was the first time I ever saw a historically famous painting and had it actually Speak to me.

I just found it very interesting, because all my life I grew up super science brain and stuff, so it was nice to just... View life from a different angle, if that makes sense.

But yeah!! Went off on a bit of a tangent there, but the point is the painting made me get into art!! And so it's special to me and I wouldn't have even gone to any of the (many) art museums I went to in Europe without it, so I figured why the heck not! Plus the Hamburg Kunsthalle is absolutely gorgeous like Holy Shit I saw the photos of the building and went "dang I dont even have to have the painting there to wanna go here, it's so cool"

And thank god for that. Because Bee. Bee.

I go to Hamburg for a fricken day trip--not even a day trip, just a few hours, because I want to maximize my time with my friend and she ends up not being able to go with me, but at this point I've put in too much research to skip this place.

So I'm hopping on a two hour train just for this one museum and I get there and wow it's even better than the photos. Like this place-- jaw dropping. It's SO FUCKING COOL but,

But.

The painting isn't there. The painting. Is not there. It's actually funny how I find out, I end up chatting with another tourist and he came to this museum for the exact same painting and I mentioned it to him and he was like "yeah no bro they moved it just a few weeks ago" LIKE WHAT 😭😭😭 so depressing I was just like ??!??!? Bc if u google it, it still tells u it's in hamburg like i had no way of knowing it was so frustrating 😭😭

But yeah so apparently it's in Dresden bc it's like some anniversary or smth and im just like wtf is dresden. Where is dresden. Why is this my life

(Dresden is in germany, 6 hrs from Hamburg so originally I thought I wouldn't be able to make it, but it's in fact inbetween Berlin and Poland, which I was staying in Berlin and going to Poland right after so it ended up working out perfectly!!)

And so. I added another city that I'd never heard of to my Germany trip just to find this painting that I was now getting excessively more passionate about than I'd ever been bc why is it this hard to find one goddamned painting??

And I arrive in Dresden btw and like immediately go to the wrong museum which is Hilarious and i just go to the front desk and go WHERE IS THIS PAINTING and theyre like ... Are u good-- Jk i wasnt that dramatic but i was feeling it 😭

But ANYWAYS the guy is like "ohhh yeah we have that painting just 5 mins away but erm. The museum is full rn"

And im just like ... Wdym full. Like. Today... Days... Weeks...???

And the person is like "full until 16"

And im here like "september 16??? Or 16:00 the hour??"

They meant 1600 the hour and i was like oh well idc about that bro that's only a two hour wait 😭😭 this gives me time to drop my stuff off at the hostel anyway sooo

AND SO

I drop off my stuff at the hostel

I go to the museum

And it's literally the first painting u see when u walk into the exhibit like dang i was expecting more obstacles at this point HAHAHAHAHA

But yeah!!!!!

I SAW IT!!!! I FINALLY FOUND IT!!!!!!

It's really cool:)) much bigger than I was expecting irl and his coat is a lot more green than it is in replicas!!

Im very happy I went searching for it and lowkey? Lowkey I wanna try this again hahahaha

It was a fun adventure and I fell in love with both Hamburg and Dresden. Like Dresden is honestly one of my fav parts of the whole trip (I'll go more detail into that later), and I would have never have gone to it without this painting so!!

I wanna choose more random paintings and go to unknown cities just for it hahaha

OOOO I love examining the shift from the enlightenment to the romantic period. of course the romantic period had its issues but it was so interesting to see art and literature shift focus from such stringent intellectualism to embracing emotions and nature and all that. also I've heard of that painting! it's such a stunning painting I totally get why you feel so connected with it

oh my god your story of hunting down this painting is wild 😭 I can't believe they moved it and just didn't say anything online??? but hey yknow I bet it was still incredible to visit hamburg. and then you got to dresden to see the painting anyway!!! that's such a cool detour to take. you got to see not one but two german cities you didn't plan on visiting before and you got to see the painting in the end!! it's always so much fun seeing a famous painting in person for the first time and realizing what details exist that just don't get across in photos.

I can't wait to hear more about hamburg and dresden. I want to visit germany so badly so I want to take notes about places to check out.

I think I've talked about this before but this whole thing reminds me of my journey to see girl with a pearl earring in Den Haag. I only went there for the museum and was just in the city for a few hours but it was still so worth the trip the museum alone was incredible and seeing the painting was unparalleled. I think picking paintings to see and traveling to find them is a really fun way to find places to travel. I should consider that for my next europe trip hmm

You hear a splash! the moment you enter the doors of the gym pool.

The lanes are empty save for one, vast crystal blue shimmering as it reflects the light passing through the glass ceiling. You don't know much about pool construction, but the tiles here look clean, with each edge perfectly cut to fit seamlessly into the other; the markings of luxury, expensive but simple enough not to distract—

—which is what you shouldn't be doing walking into this exclusive gym pool reserved only for the best of the best, the elite. Top tier professionals.

Ones like your gold-winning pro-swimmer boyfriend, Gojo Satoru.

He's approaching the end of his lap when you settle into a squat in front of the lane he’s on, towel hanging off your shoulders as you cross your arms over your knees, wiggling your toes as you wait. The moment he breaks through the surface, you can't hide the smile on your face.

You haven’t seen him in days. 

Everything about him feels like he was made for this—how the ripples make way to accommodate his breathing, the dips and curves of muscle on his shoulders, flexing; how his fingers glide his goggles atop his head without resistance, smoothly. Even with his hair held back by the elastic, the few wet clumps that fall out still frame his face so perfectly. 

It's unbelievable how your boyfriend can look so much like the water he swims in—brilliant and white like glimmers of reflected light, and clean blue, striking, always glistening the moment your eyes catch his. 

Sometimes, looking at him feels a lot like drowning.

"How did I do?" he smirks, squinting into what would have been a suave wink, if not for a drop of water causing an involuntary eye-twitch. 

He already knows the answer, but you indulge him anyway, "Good, as always."

"Just good?" he pouts. There's a droplet of water hanging by his lips, desperately clinging as it trembles while he breathes. You know he knows you're looking by the way he runs his tongue over it, taunting. 

You narrow your gaze and shrug, teasing, "Maybe you missed something."

He swims closer to the ledge you're squatting by, palms pressing on tile to hoist himself up. You try not to fixate on the way his triceps flex as they hold him up, but he lives for this kind of attention from you—he’d do anything to keep you looking at him the way you do. 

Half of his left leg remains submerged when he settles himself on the edge of the pool, the other one bent as he tilts his head in mock wonder, “Did I?”

It's your turn to pout now as he pretends not to know what you’re after, and you're about to say something on it until—

"S'toru!"

—you scream, pulled off-balance with your heart nearly dropping to your stomach at the fear of being dragged into the water. Except you aren't, because with a simple tug at the towel around your neck, he's managed to tip you over to fall into his lap, steadying you against his very wet and very broad chest instead.  

You smack his shoulders, mouth agape and eyes wide as you push back to look at him. He looks pleased with himself, almost laughing even as his arms settle on your hips, grabbing the flesh and squeezing.

"Mean," you scrunch your nose, and he chuckles.

"Excuse me," he holds you closer, "who hurt my feelings first?"

You roll your eyes fondly, sliding your hands to clasp at the back of his neck, "Okay, big baby."

"Do you want your kiss or not?"

You glare at him, lips pursed tight, "As if you don't—"

So he does—kiss you, lips soft and a little damp. You can taste the chlorine from the hours he's already spent here prior to you coming, but it's comforting, a taste entirely too familiar that you sometimes find yourself looking for it in the long stretches he doesn’t have training. 

He kisses you because you're right, something was missing, and it's always this same thing.

You smile against his lips before breaking away, heart gleaming like pool water. The moment is tender, soft, touched by the magic of being together amidst expensive tiles and elite gym pools.

But you should have known better than to trust your pro-swimmer boyfriend, Gojo Satoru—full-time athlete, and part-time the most insufferable person you’ve ever met.

Because with the way his arm has been wrapping itself inch-by-inch around your waist, he's managed to shift his body back to face the pool, only to dump the both of you back in the water, together.

"Satoru!"

He laughs, voice carrying throughout the gym. You grumble about still having your slippers on and he dives under to get it off you, throwing it to the side when he emerges. 

"Race me!" he ducks to the other lane, sliding his goggles back on before shooting you a thumbs up.

And you’d think this silly of him, really, because this is your back-to-back-to-back gold-winning pro-swimmer boyfriend asking you, a survival swimmer at best, to race him—but you can tell this is his cover for you. 

You’d get in trouble if anyone caught you here in the first place. His schedule's been tight lately, locked down with the need to focus for his upcoming swim meet. Being focused meant no distractions, and you being the worst of them all meant less time spent with you, too. 

Still, he'd insisted that you come today, so.

You can't technically be a distraction if you're going to 'train' with him anyway, right?
