What are some of your favorite horror movies? And which ones you like to recommend to people?
Holy shit! This question makes me so happy but also so…wow, how do I organize this! How can I narrow them down…there’s just so many horror movies I definitely love and would recommend. The different sub-genres within horror and what’s the best to watch from those was considered, but that leaves out some solid horror movies that don’t fit into any particular sub-genre. So I kind of went chronologically, throughout the years…I might be wrong in some of these years, so please forgive me for that. I’ll also definitely have left off a lot of really good ones, so excuse the incompleteness of the list.
So, as mentioned on my other post, gotta start back in the roaring 20’s, when horror really kind of hit the mainstream, with 1922’s Nosferatu. It’s going to seem really boring if you go in expecting a gore-fest like what we get now, but I think it’s a really stand up film for it’s time, with a great atmosphere and feel to it.
All of the classic Universal monster film’s from the 30’s should be checked out. They’re classics for a reason and the horror genre really owes a lot to these early films.
As far as I know, the original that came out then is impossible to find, but you can find versions of 1932’s Freaks and it’s definitely worth checking out. That movie kind of fucked me up, though a lot of the horror in it was the mass exploitation of people who dared to differ from the norm.
As far as I know, the 30’s version of Sweeney Todd was the first time it was on film? Definitely worth checking out, comparing and contrasting to the Johnny Depp version of it. Both are decent in their own ways (though, of course, the stage renditions are the best).
To me, Son of Frankenstein, while considered a horror at the time, was the first horror comedy. At least, I very much have that feel watching it.
While there were a lot of 40’s horror films, the only one I still remember and enjoy is the Abbott and Costello film I recommended in the previous post.
In my opinion, the 50’s had a lot of really great horror films. Watching them now, they do feel campy and kind of B-grade, but I really do think that is part of the appeal to them and it’s also fun to see some of the tropes in horror that are still used to this day. So from that era, I recommend Donovan’s Brain, I Was a Teenage Werewolf, Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, anything with Vincent Price, and Teenagers from Outer Space.
1960 brought us Psycho. Any horror fan should check out Psycho – I consider it a classic and a must watch. I also think that might have been the year The Little Shop of Horrors first came out on film. The original wasn’t bad, though I recommend the later version with Rick Moranis. It had a really great feel to it and was a little more fun than the original.
From the rest of the 60’s…oh, you guys know this one was going to be on here. Rosemary’s Baby, natch. Night of the Living Dead is also one that was obviously going to show up on this list because again – should be considered must-watch for any horror movie lover. Romero and horror – goes hand in hand and especially in terms of zombie tropes…it set up a lot of those. For a surprise from the 60’s though, I do recommend Blood and Black Lace.
The 70’s were great for horror. I definitely recommend the 70’s Wicker Man. If you start to watch Wicker Man and you see Nicolas Cage….press back or do whatever you need to do to turn it off. Then go watch the Wicker Man without Nicolas Cage. You will thank me for that tidbit of advice. Tales from the Crypt, The Exorcist, Jaws, Alien, the OG Carrie, The Omen, the OG The Hills Have Eyes, the OG Suspiria, Dawn of the Dead, I Spit on Your Grave, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Black Christmas, and The Amityville Horror were all fantastic movies from that decade. Plus, the Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchises started in this decade and I really recommend those franchises as a whole. Did both of them have some terrible sequels/prequels/remakes? Oh boy, did they! But overall, the franchises are solid. Young Frankenstein is a solid horror comedy and while technically a miniseries, Salem’s Lot from that time is still something I rewatch at least every year or two.
The 80’s brought Freddy fucking Krueger and boy, do I recommend watching the Nightmare On Elm Street franchise. The Chucky franchise also started at that time and I love the really kind of campy, horror comedy feel to that franchise, with some genuinely scary scenes. The Evil Dead is a classic for a reason and definitely a must watch. Just watch every movie in the franchise because at the worst, they’re hilarious, at their best they’re so, so GOOD. Pretty sure Poltergeist is also from the 80’s but if I’m wrong, it’s late 70’s. I love The Lost Boys, at least the original one.  Motel Hell was weird as fuck but pretty decent horror comedy? My favourite horror comedy from the 80’s though has to be April Fool’s Day – definitely one I recommend everyone see at least once. Fright Night from the 80’s was also really good and I actually also enjoy the remake with Colin Farrell. The 80’s also brought a lot of Stephen King adaptions and where I love his writing, I watched a lot of them – Christine, Cujo, Silver Bullet,  Children of the Corn (the OG one is my favourite, though the remake wasn’t absolutely fucking horrific), Pet Sematary, Creepshow…notice The Shining is missing? It’s because I actually don’t really like the movie. I found the book more genuinely scary. One that does have to be mentioned but which I will personally NEVER watch again – Cannibal Holocaust. Don’t eat going into it and be aware that it gets very, VERY violent. If you consider Gremlins a horror movie, it’s on there. I just say it’s a classic Christmas movie you should definitely check out around the season. I watch it every Christmas season.
From the 90’s, starting with a miniseries but the version of IT that still scares me the most? The 90’s miniseries with Tim Curry. It will legit make me cry but that’s because clowns freak me out royally.  But legit, the 90’s and the 00’s was the era I really was just getting into horror, so I struggle to figure out what is me viewing it with a lot of nostalgia and love and what is actually good so I’m going bullet points for these decades:
Se7en – even non-horror fans know THAT scene from this movie, let’s be real, and I think that  makes it have to be on this list.
Village of the Damned
From Dusk Till Dawn
The first Scream came out this decade, as did a couple of the others, but please watch all the franchise except the newest ones. I watched them, not as great as the original run but 1-4…fucking amazing and probably my favourite horror franchise personally.
I Know What You Did Last Summer
The first Blade movie came out in this decade, but I recommend all three.
The Faculty
Urban Legend
House on Haunted Hill
The Sixth Sense really did have an amazing twist, though it looks cheap and played out rewatching or looking back on it. For the time period though – it was an amazing twist.
Sleepy Hollow
American Psycho
Final Destination. Any of the movies in the franchise kind of give me the happy but the first one is probably the best.
Jeeper’s Creepers
Misery
The Leprechan franchise is great horror comedy. I love Warwick Davis.
I recommend the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie, only because it led to the show and the show was so, so precious to me.
The Silence of the Lambs, naturally.
Candyman, also naturally.
The Frighteners was a fun horror comedy. I just like seeing bad things happen to Michael J. Fox
Sometimes They Come Back
Cube
Cannibal! The Musical is frigging fantastic and a great black comedy
The Craft
Idle Hands is frigging amazing as well for horror comedy.
From the 2000’s:
Ginger Snaps
Thirteen Ghosts
Valentine
28 Days Later
Cabin Fever
Resident Evil as a franchise is hit or miss, but I like the original
The Ring
Wrong Turn
The Grudge
The Saw franchise
Hostel
House of 1000 Corpses and the follow up movies to it
Shaun of the Dead
House of Wax, just for being able to see Paris Hilton die
When a Stranger Calls
1408 (have an odd crush on John Cusack)
30 Days of Night
The Mist
Dead Silence
Repo! The Genetic Opera
Coraline
Zombieland
Cabin in the Woods is from around that time and still one of the best meta-horror comedies I’ve ever seen.

My Movie Review: "Dune: Part 2"
**Caution...May Contain Some Spoilers**
Tumblr media
Alright alright alright y'all.....
Tumblr media
Whew! Dune Part 2.... Where do I even begin??
Okay, FIRST of all.... FIRST OF ALL.... This movie was EPIC. Like, GRAND epic-ness. I haven't seen a movie this epic in a good while. The sound, the musical score, the acting, the cinematography, the costumes, etc... EVERYTHING was so on point! 🤯
When the end credits started rolling, I was sitting there liiiiike....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I couldn't believe what I had just seen lol... 😅 I think I was a little bit in shock and just needed to sit there and contemplate/process all that took place in this movie lol.
Let me tell you all... Love the Dune movies or hate them.... These movies are SO well-done! Idk about other Anons/fans who saw this film, but I just felt transported to a totally different world while watching it. Seeing this film in all of its IMAX glory was amaaazing! 👏🏾 I highly recommend seeing this movie in IMAX if you have the ability to.
Okay, let me get down to the nitty gritty of everybody in the film.....
Tumblr media
The Cast First of all... Can I just say? This cast did an AMAZING job in this film as a whole. Like, EVERYONE was awesome in this. Everyone was pulling their weight, and was hitting their marks...even the background actors.... I was like, "damn!" There weren't any weak links in this film (imo).
Timothee Timothee BABAAAY....Timothee suprised me! I'll be honest, I've seen a few of Timmy's films before, but none of his roles (that I had seen) had really wowed me, you know? But Dune Part 2?? Oh...he definitely served. 👏🏾 He started off in the beginning of the movie being the same ol' Timmy I know lol....But by towards the END of the movie?? Hunny chiiiiile.... He had me believing his character was feeling his own hype lol. 😅🤣 Timothee really outdid himself with this movie. His voice didn't even sound the same towards the end of the movie. And the foreign made up language that he (and the rest of the cast) had to speak? Superb! Paul's duel at the end with Feyd was awesome (more on Feyd later). It really looked like they were fighting to the death. I'm glad the scene didn't last too long though, because it was pretty intimate and intense. Overall, awesome acting by Timothee. Loved his transformation towards the end of the movie.
Zendaya Ahhh Zendaya! 😃 Zendaya's Chani was definitely the heart of this film as most reviews say. Her character was somewhat of a cynic, but only because she wasn't a "believer". I know Z's acting has been criticized in this film online, but I actually think she did a fine job? I was impressed by her action sequences and her portrayal of Chani's anger and frustration with Paul and those blindly believing in the Maud'Dib. I was SO happy that Z had way more screen time in this movie than in the first one. I also loved how she was given some action scenes/sequences!! I think this is her first action film on the big screen? She was shooting guns, fighting, etc. I was like, "Go girl!!" 👏🏾😃 Denis seemed to have a love affair with Zendaya's face lol, because I think she got most of the close-ups in this movie lol.😅 I actually thought that she and Timmy had pretty good chemistry in the film. It wasn't "passionate" or "sexy" chemistry, but they had good chemistry nonetheless. For those wondering.....YES, there is a love scene lol.... 👀 But it was tastefully done imo.
Rebecca Whew chiiiile, let me tell you... Rebecca scared me in this movie lol. 😅 I was liiiike....
Tumblr media
She put the "Mother" in Mother okay? LOL 😅 I always love Rebecca, she's a superb actress and infinitely amazing in EVERYTHING she's in. She had me believing she was the Reverend Mother okay? After she drank that holy life water or whatever it was, she totally changed into someone else lol. 🤣
Austin Lawwwd....this man... I didn't even recognize him onscreen okay? 😩 Austin did not come here to play, and he played Feyd Rautha beautifully. He was ruthless, cunning, yet charming, sexy, and actually had an honor code. During most of the movie, every time he came on screen, I didn't know whether to be scared or turned on... 👀🙈 The Gladiator Scene was like wow.... I always thought Austin was a good actor since "Elvis", but that Gladiator arena scene had me like: "Whoa...he's a good actor!" His acting with his eyes was amazing... Excellent job. 👏🏾 My only gripe was that he was in the movie for far too short of time! Believe it or not, I wanted more Feyd.... 😩 I'm so excited to see what's next in his career, because so far, based on what I've seen, Austin can really disappear in roles. Like chiiiile...this man.....I swear, I wouldn't have even realized it was him had it not been for his eyes and lips lol. 🤭
Florence Florence did an amazing job in the limited role that she was given. Although her role was small, her acting was on point. 🥰 Even Christopher Walken (who's the least Christopher Walken-like I've ever seen him in a role lol) was so subdued, but did a great job as well. I wish we were able to see more of Princess Irulan in scenes (I loved her costumes!), but I know she will have a much larger part in Part 3/Dune Messiah.
Javier LOL I loved Javier in this. He's always good in everything he's in. He had a much smaller role in Dune Part 1, so it was nice seeing him have a larger role in Dune Part 2. His character of Stilgar gave the film much-needed light-heartedness and some funny parts to chuckle at.
PROS
Everyone's acting was on point!!!
The movie had an EPIC vibe and really transports you to a totally different world
The music was haunting and amazing.... I LOVED "Chani's Theme"... Hanz Zimmer really created a beautiful score for this Dune World...I loved it 😊
The movie was 3 hours long, but it never felt boring to me. It was very interesting to me, and when the film credits roll, you're left thinking: "They're really gonna leave things like this???" I wanted MORE!! 😩
The film felt believable. I know it's sci-fi, but the way the film touches upon normal societal issues, it almost makes you feel that this type of world actually exists.
I loved that Zendaya had more screen time in this movie 🥰
CONS
There were just a few too many sand scenes lol... I kind of feel like Denis could have mixed up some of the scenes on different planets with the dusty sandy scenes on Arrakis. During most of the first hour of the film, I was looking at desert sand scenes like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ROTFL!! 🤣 Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad thing per se, and it didn't detract from the film's greatness, but if I were Denis, I would have given the audience a bit of a break from the desert scenes a little sooner in. I would have given longer breaks in btwn the desert scenes at least 30 mins in lol.
I felt like Lea Sedoux's scenes were way too SHORT! She was like the Zendaya of Part 2 lol. I don't even think she had as much screen time as Zendaya had in Part 1 lol. And Chiiiiile...I wanted to see more of her interactions with Feyd. 👀 Their chemistry was hawwwwt.... 🥵 Austin and Lea had more sexual chemistry in their 2-minute scene together than Timmy and Zendaya had in the entire movie imo ROTFL 🤣 (SORRY Timdaya fans! 😅)
Tumblr media
Speaking of Feyd.... Denis didn't give us enough of him! I liked that he was somewhat of a complex villain. But I kind of feel like it would have been nice to have seen a bit more about his background (like, why did he kill his mother??🥴), or know what makes him tick. 🤔
I think it would have been nice to have seen longer scenes with Timmy and Austin together, but I haven't read the books, so maybe they only meet once and that's for the knife fight lol. 😅
It would have been nice to have seen more of Anya in this film, but she will more than likely have more of a role in Dune Messiah.
Overall.... Amazing film. 😊 I know I'm going to have to watch this movie at least a second time to really process everything.
OVERALL SCORE: 8/10
😁

I really liked how Spider Man 2 used so many fan favorites and that one does not need knowledge to have such a fun time with this game.
I definitely think this is GoTY due to how well they have progressed Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ stories. I think that while it should stay a single player game; it is pretty nice how they have their combat styles pretty great for a team up.
Spoilers ahead:
The story is excellent. It’s about time I see a Harry with a story that made sense ( I..didn’t like that Peter didn’t want to help Harry nor how he didn’t disguise his voice in The Amazing Spider Man 2. However that’s how I’d imagine Harry and Dale DeHaan did a phenomenal job so it’s cool) and that one hopes that wherever his story goes; you are still going to root for him and hope he wakes up. Norman Osborne was great because the story always makes it clear that he is the villain but you almost wish he’d change with what happened to Harry and Emily but..we know he never will. Not even to save Harry.
Peter Parker’s story. Such a great story for a character who’s going to take a backseat in the next game. I also love how the alien messed around with his inner dark thoughts. It makes me forget the awful Spider Man 3 and that’s more what I’d expect out of Venom. I mean…those were some serious venomous thoughts about Miles Morales and everyone. Like ..wow…. But at the same time; it was great they went that direction. After all, Venom with Tony Todd as the voice actor?
Then the Spider Friends bit was just so heartwarming ..and then breaking. But still, what an amazing job they did with that arc. I’m also glad that Mary Jane had her story and even improved the fact she should be a mini character but give her some cool gameplay. It was nice that Peter moved out the city and decided to stay in Aunt May’s home.
Miles Morales’ arc was so good. From him and Hailey becoming a couple, or rather he will take her on a date finally to him being able to live downstairs from his Uncle Aaron to him and Martin Li. That was some great stories and side missions for Miles. Mysterio arc was pretty good. I liked how it started to seem off after a few missions but since I was having fun; I just ignored the clues lol. I did think Peter was definitely far gone because when he snapped at Rio Morales; I thought “ oh this is how Peter Parker dies. RIP buddy”. Not to think Spider Man 3 game but it will be interesting to see where he goes from here.
The side missions themselves are great. It’s nice seeing all the Easter Eggs and also, I really didn’t even realize some of the characters were who they were and that’s what made the game even more fun. From Cletus Cassidy to Yuri as Wraithe which made it pretty fun. The DLC, whatever it is, it’s be nice to see where that goes..but we don’t need anymore Black Cat.
The scenery is amazing. They really outdid themselves and it’s pretty great that it looks like New York ( I’d assume from pics and movies lol. Never been) and that it’s just so animated. The cast was great. The gameplay is awesome and I highly recommend.

Hi Mary i think you have very exceptional taste in movies, music art in general. I wanted to ask you whether you could share what are your few favourite movies and series that you could recommend (besides bones and all, that I know you love and I am already obsessed with) hope your having good calm time and enjoying the summer
hi! thank you very much! and i love that it’s a Thing that i love bones and all. i’m very happy to be branded by that movie lmao.
here are all my favorite movies and shows (separated), and the reasons why i love them because i cannot help myself from sharing my opinions <3
my favorite movies:
hellboy (2004, dir guillermo del toro) — i watched this movie with my dad often as a kid. guillermo del toro blends so many genres into this movie without it feeling inconsistent, and the production, costuming, and hair and makeup is just gorgeous. i feel this is a criminally underrated comic book adaptation.
waves (2019, dir trey edward shultz) — this movie is something else in a great way. i don’t think i’ve ever seen a movie structured, edited, and shot like this. the use of screen resolutions and the camera work make it very visually interesting the entire way through. the acting is also phenomenal (and it’s the movie that made me fall in love with taylor russell)
juno (2007, dir jason reitman) — another one from my childhood. there’s something so cozy about this movie to me. the actors are great, the dialogue can be both hilarious and heartbreaking, and it’s generally cute a little story.
20th century women (2016, dir mike mills) — i feel like this movie’s selling point is it’s plot. it’s set in the 70s about a single mother in her late-50s trying to raise her son, so she enlists two other women to help influence her son to be a good man. it’s just… so good. i want more people to see this movie. it shouldn’t be forgotten.
rhymes or young ghouls (2013, dir jeff barnaby) — it’s been a while since i’ve last seen it, but i first watched because it has one of my favorite actors it (devery jacobs— you will see her again here) but it quickly became a movie i’ll never forget. there are few movies about indigenous people, and even fewer that handle their trauma in a respectful and caring way. this movie is about indigenous people, by indigenous people, for indigenous people, and it’s great and it’s beautiful and it’s sad and it’s horrific and it certainly doesn’t fall into the “racist redemption” bullshit. not at all. this movie sheds light on a history that i was never taught about, and that i’m sure many people still don’t know about. this movie is an important watch, in my opinion. TW for residential schools, racism, rape, and abuse, so definitely be mindful of those topics.
moonlight (2016, dir barry jenkins) — one of the best coming of age movies ever made. all three acts are perfect. i don’t think there’s a single thing i don’t like about this movie. i genuinely can’t think of any flaws. it’s visually beautiful, the acting is beautiful, the dialogue is beautiful— everything is beautiful. deserved the oscar and more. a review of letterboxd sums my feelings about it up perfectly: visual poetry with the emotional depth of the fucking ocean itself.
aftersun (2022, charlotte wells) — this movie really feels like observing real people. it’s like watching home videos of a parent and kid on vacation. you can tell this story is so personal and so real, and the actors are incredible. it’s slow and melancholic, but it’s not boring and it keeps your attention. i was expecting to relate to the preteen girl, and i did, but i wasn’t expecting to relate to a single father turning 31. great movie. glad to see it get some light at the oscars this past season.
spider-man: across the spider-verse (2023, dirs joaquim dos santos, justin k thompson, kemp powers) — i don’t wanna spoil anything, but oh wow. oh wow.
everything everywhere all at once (2022, dirs the daniels) — instant classic. i’ve never been one for action/comedy/kung-fu movies, but this one’s blend of those genres and its imagination and humor and big heart make it something unique. it’s high energy, always interesting to look at, the costuming and hair and makeup are cool as fuck, and the acting is phenomenal. deserved to sweep at the oscars, and anyone that tells you differently is a loser trying so desperately hard to be different. don’t be different. love everytbing everywhere all at once. it deserves all the love.
and now…
my favorite shows:
mr robot (2015-2019, created by sam esmail) — my absolute favorite show ever made. it’s so hard to describe this show to other people, but you just need to watch it. it’s so precise in its decisions and so thoughtful with every single scene. the quadrant framing of the cinematography shows you the tone of the show and makes you feel what the characters feel in such simple ways. it’s truly stunning and the unraveling story is so intricate and infinitely layered. i feel this show’s message only resonates more as time passes. it’s scarily realistic.
game of thrones (2011-2019, created by david benioff, db weiss, george rr martin) — i’ll address the obvious: the ending sucks. the cracks in the show start to show in season 5, begin to crumble throughout 6-7, and complete breaks in season 8. BUT! seasons 1-4 is some of the best television ever made. the characters are multidimensional, the story is carefully crafted (thank you, george rr martin), and actions have consequences. even though the ending sucks, the beginning is well worth it.
house of the dragon (2022-current, created by miguel sapochnik, ryan condal, george rr martin) — yes, it’s a spin-off of game of thrones, but you don’t need to have seen game of thrones to watch house of the dragon. so if you don’t want to suffer through game of thrones season 8, just watch this prequel! it has everything i loved from season 1-4 of games of thrones but with a bigger budget. it’s great. i have hope that it will get even better.
the last of us (2023-current, created by craig mazin and neil druckmann) — my favorite video game ever made turned into one of my favorite shows ever made. the last of us was in good hands. as a fan of the games, i was beyond satisfied with what hbo did. It captures the heart of the story while also expanding on things us gamers never got to explore much. it’s everything i could’ve asked for in an adaptation. patiently looking forward season 2– you can’t rush greatness. and i already waited half a decade between the first game and the second. i can wait a year or two for the second season.
deadly class (2019, created by rick remender and miles orion fieldscott) — it’s a high school for assisins. what else do you need to know? seriously though, i love this show. it unfortunately got cancelled, but i think it’s great just in its one season. the music is good, the acting is good, it balances wit and existential drama. it is pessimism wrapped in a creative bow, and i love it and am forever wishing i got to see a season 2. i’m holding out hope rick remender can get another shot at adapting it in some way in the future. also check out the comics! they’re great too.
the walking dead (2010-2022, created by robert kirkman, tony moore, charlie adlard, and (formerly) frank darabont) — this one might be biased. i grew up watching this show, i still love this show. i have walking dead posters and played all the games and even have twd socks. i just love the walking dead. of course it has zombies (that look great, by the way; makeup killed it), but it’s also a very good inter-personal drama. it loses its footing around season 6 and stumbles a bit through 7-8, but season 9 finds its balance again and brings back everything i loved about the show. whether or not you like zombies or hate them, give the walking dead a chance. i really think it would surprise a lot of people.
reservation dogs (2021-current, created by sterlin harjo and taika waititi) — here is that devery jacobs i promised. this is a coming of age comedy about teenagers on a oklahoma reservation who steal, rob, and save money with the hopes of moving to california. it’s hilarious, but it also touches on many issues the indigenous communities face— namely suicide. you can tell the people on camera and behind the camera love this project, and again it’s a show made by indigenous people, about indigenous people, for indigenous people.
ok. i think that’s it! there all the film that i love. i hope y’all check some of them out because they’re all pretty good :)

Hi! I know what voice you're talking about and it seems like it really sucks. I know when I can't talk..that means it's also pretty painful too. Which is once again so awful and I'm sorry for the horrible timing! Oh that seems fun but it sucks that you're not seeing a show, and it sounds like a nice tradition. If it makes you feel better, I don't have any plans to see any shows either. I mean I probably will see one eventually next year but there's nothing I'm excited for or looking forward to.
Maybe watching a bootleg can help, but I know it's not the same. I know i have said I haven't been very into or caught up on recent Broadway stuff and sometimes it does make me sad. I am planning to read the Starless Sea in January too I hope so I'll keep that in mind. I didn't think of the Pippin revival but that's also an example of a revival trying to do something a little different I think. And I actually did watch Schmicago and thought it was pretty good! They might've actually referenced Pippin with a narrator character. I think it was actually better than the first season actually and the references were a lot more clear, at least to me. I would recommend it but did make me miss Broadway. At least they have Broadway actors though. I need to get better at watching shows too..that might have actually been the last full show I watched and that was back in July lol but I think I'm just more of a movie person usually.
But mostly I'm a music person and I can recommend my favorites. Omg I didn't know that..I've seen a few clips of Fall Out Boy on tour and it seems awesome. I hope you have the best time! So I'm not as into Fall Out Boy..like I've never done a deep dive on old albums and I was more of a casual fan at first. But their new album is great and since you're seeing their tour, you can just focus on that for now. My favorites are Fakeout and Love from the other side. For Paramore, I would listen to their albums in order cuz it's cool to see their evolution as a band and they don't have that many. They also have some covers and unreleased songs too. But if you wanna start with their newest album, I think it has a good mix of all of their sounds too. It's my favorite album of this year. I can also just list some favorites of mine here kinda going in order by album,. Oh Star, I caught Myself, Brighter, My Heart, Misery Business, When it Rains, Crushcrush. Brick By Boring Brick, Turn it off, Playing God, Misguided Ghosts, and all I wanted. Daydreaming, Last Hope, Hate to see your Heart Break, one of those crazy girls. Rose colored Boy, Fake Happy, 26, Tell me How, Running out of time, Big Man, You First, Liar, Crave and Thick Skull. I know that's a lot..wow i'm even surprised. I debated cutting it down but in case you don't listen to the full albums, this is what I would recommend! For her solo music, I would just recommend hearing the albums. Anyway what other vinyls did you get?
I definitely prefer Folklore, because I love a lot of songs on the album and I just know what my favorites are. Compared to Evermore, where some of it is more like background music to me. Ive already told you what my least favorites are and I might have unpopular favorites. My favorites are Evermore, Coney Island, Dorothea, and Gold Rush and Long Story Short . I also like No Body No Crime, Cowboy Like Me, Ivy and Right where you Left me cuz sometimes it feels like a movie. Ya Evermore does feel more cohesive to me or like it all blends together but my favorite songs are definitely on Folklore. That's why I've never understood the whole Folklore is a better album but Evermore has better songs thing lol. Also now it's Taylors birthday today..yay! Are you planning to watch the eras tour movie? I think I will sometime this weekend probably. Then its your birthday too and if anything, I will send you a message wishing you happy birthday if I don't reply. I hope you have a great weekend and birthday!!!
guess what guess what my voice is a little more back today !!! so fingers crossed it'll be completely back by saturday!!!! i've decided to make bracelets for the hockey game, so i'm going to be doing that tonight/tomorrow i think!! it'll be a nice break from making taylor bracelets :") (although i need to make some so i can mail them out next week eep!) i think my next show will probably be the company tour ... unless i see a regional production of spring awakening (which i'm tempted to; just depends on the cast and stuff).
i almost watched TBOSAS last night! but then i put the kraken game on instead </3 (which i'm glad i did because it was a beautiful game! and we won!) and i originally was going to stream eras tonight (i have $20 digital credits expiring on the 15th) but i forgot i have a thing at 7, and by the time that's over i won't want to watch a 3 hour long movie — so something for another night! you'll have to let me know how it is watching it from home! i suspect it'll be so much nicer to watch it all cozy and all but i wonder if i'll miss the cinema vibe!
i listened to part of the first paramore album yesterday when i was getting my allergy shot! i liked what i heard, but will need to finish it and then do another listen through to figure out what my favorites are! i ordered from the dirty hit store, so i figured if i was paying for ridiculous shipping costs i might as well bundle up so i actually ordered more than i normally would: i got the japanese house's saw you in a dream & pools to bathe in, beabadoobee's loveworm + the way things go 7", finally preordered benjamin francis leftwich's some things break vinyl + ordered his to carry a whale vinyl and after the rain, and the 1975's 7" all i need to hear + i like america and america likes me (real world version) ! and i have sabrina carpenter's fruitcake ep coming in i think on friday! so definitely way too many vinyls coming in haha. i need to cool it! way too many vinyls! i still need to finish working on my little vinyl craft project too, but that might be a next week problem / after the game / after my bracelets are done! i have like 15 ? that i need to prioritize for mailing out but then i can chill out for a little bit!
have i asked you for an updated taylor discography ranking yet? i'm curious to know what your ranking is/if it's changed since we last talked about it, especially with 1989 tv! you can distinguish between stolen and taylor's version if you'd like too!
i hope you have a lovely weekend 🤍 and thank you for the birthday wishes! x

3 thing ask:
2, 6, 11, 33, 34, 37
Three movies you have rewatched many times
1. Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron. I went through a phase when I was nine/ten where I’d rewatch this movie multiple times a week for… like a year 😅
2. Bolt. Underrated movie!! This was another one I looped when I was younger, and I tried writing a fanfic about it when I was eleven maybe but gave up after one page or something lol
3. The Good Dinosaur. Yet another one I looped when I was younger :) I saw this one in theaters too!!
I went through a major animation phase when I was 9-13. All these + How To Train Your Dragon were pretty much all I watched aksgaksgaksg
I still have all my animash edits saved :) Perhaps I will share them someday…
Three characters that inspire you
Ooh man, hmm…
1. Tommy (DSMP). This answer seems silly at first, but I’m always touched by how much and how hard he tries. He tries so hard to be good, and to help people, and to never give up on people, and it’s amazing. It’s rare that I find characters who are so, for lack of better words, good. He’s just a really good kid.
He also loves most everything he touches, and he loves hard. He loves so hard that it’s impossible to not see it, to not feel it, to not be changed by it, and that’s freaking powerful.
(I’m really having to Think about this question, because while I like a bunch of characters, I’m not often inspired by those characters)
2. Zelda (BOTW/TOTK). LOOK AT ME PICKING A CHARACTER FROM A VIDEO GAME!!! WOO!!!
If I had to describe Zelda in one word, I’d choose “selfless”. So, so selfless. It’s crazy.
The things she does for her kingdom and for Link and for the things she cares about is near-unmatched; she’ll do hard things for the good of others, and I mean really hard things. Heartbreaking, painful, scary things that I honestly probably wouldn’t do.
I think she’s really neat :) And I think I could learn a lot about being selfless from her.
3. Goshhhh I’m kinda drawing a blank here ummm
*spongebob time-passing-screen-thing with the french guy*
Okay so I literally hopped off tumblr for the night and came back to this question twelve hours later lol and I still cannot think of a character :’0
Three books that you would recommend everyone to read
!!!!
OOOOOOOH!!! OKAYOKAY!!!
1. The One And Only Ivan :D This is one of four stories that has ever made me tear up, and the only story that has ever made me cry. It’s just… ough. It’s beautiful and unique and it’s amazing it’s amazing it’s amazing I CANNOT tell you enough how amazing this book is oh my gosh-
AND FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING, DON’T FREAKING WATCH THE MOVIE! IT SUCKS! IT TOOK ALL THE THINGS THAT MADE THE BOOK UNIQUE AND GOT RID OF THEM AND THE RESULT IS AN INFURIATING PIECE OF MEDIA THAT DOES NOT DO THE BOOK JUSTICE! DON’T FREAKING WATCH THE MOVIE! READ THE BOOK!
2. What Beauty There Is by Cory Anderson. I read this one very recently, I think in December, and… wow. Absolutely stunning. Just… wow. It’s haunting—that’s probably the best word for it—and beautiful and deep and dark and tragic. It’s the sort of book that made me feel a bit heavier while I was reading.
(Also one of the four stories that has made me tear up sooooo)
There is a bit (not a lot at all) of swearing, and one scene that bordered the lines between PG-13 and something above PG-13; it was like… I don’t know, it’s kinda confusing. It was sort of sexual but nothing really ended up happening. It was more like an implication or a suggestion.
But other than those things, the book was fantastic and I highly highly recommend!!
3. THE ROAD BY CORMAC MCCARTHY!!! YES THIS DESERVES CAPS LOCK!!!
LIKE
!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
It’s one of the coolest and best stories I have ever hekkin read and it’s so sad and so amazing and so well-formatted and so interesting and so OUGHHHH
I need to reread this again 😭
There’s like, one swear word maybe? Two? Hardly any, really. But there’s definitely some disturbing scenes that would make a lot of people uncomfortable, so I’d advise caution.
But yesssssss this story is so good I’m gonna scream 😭
Three scented candles that you love the most
Gonna be perfectly honest here, I don’t like candles all that much. I just… eh. I don’t see the point. Not my thing.
So instead of doing scented candles, I’ll just list three of my favorite scents in general 😅
1. Vanilla :)
2. Certain flowersss maybe?? Some of them smell nice? Like vanilla but with honey and sort of like yogurt now that I think about it.
But a lot of flowers don’t smell like anything to me, so meh.
3. Uhhh
(This question is making me realize that my sense of smell is either not very strong or I just don’t… care that much about it lol because this is hardddd)
3. Like. Food. Good food. Yyyyyes.
Three people in history that inspire you the most
This is making me remember that I really do like history, and I like learning about history/people in history, but it is MISERABLE trying to find history books that aren’t hard to read or incredibly boring. So unfortunately I don’t know as much history as I would like :(
And I do like a bunch of people in history, but like the character question, I’m not often inspired by them.
Three languages you would love to learn
1. ASL!! I’ve been wanting to learn this one for years but haven’t been able to figure out how :’0 I would really like to take a class, but they’re surprisingly difficult to find.
2. Dutch! I think it’s super satisfying to listen to and I think it’d be fun :D
3. FRENCH!!! I technically know a little bit of French, but definitely not enough to say that I truly speak it.

Oh, I might need to check that. Maybe my location is preventing me from finding stuff lol. And yeah, I have already watched every shotfilm avaible on vimeo haha. But thanks for the recommendations 💖
Haha, yes, I think paradise lost is just one of those movies that jumped on the wandagon about whatever was popular.
I mean, it's understandable you thought that bc Rafa is insane. He's just amazing at playing him, even the accent. I can't believe you didn't regonize him in BP!! must've been the ears or maybe you were distracted by the shame shorts 😉 hahaha but seriously speaking, there's a huge difference between those characters and it shows his range.
Tbh, my guesses were Vive por mí, bc even if it's a meaningful movie and everything, something doesn't sit right with me about it ????? like the vibes aren't right lol... And the other one, for me, is probably Semana Santa bc if I'm remembering this correctly, the director was an asshole to him. If not, I'd throw dark forces there or even Las aparicio (I love juan but I felt like he was acting the hell out of it and the girlies were 🧍‍♀️🧍‍♀️except ana de la reguera lol). And from what I remember (don't take this word by word bc I heard this podcast a few months ago) he said he was dissapointed bc he felt like the work ethic wasn't right, like no one was pouring themselves into the movie and it felt poor.
Wow you're at it then! I hope you find whatever you wanna see ❤️
Okay so, the first time I see Tenoch ever is as Rafa. And then I see him directly as Namor. Nothing in between. I didn't even know how the real life Tenoch looked like which might have been a reason. And the green shorts were VERY distracting 😂 but I think it was the fact that his expressions and face itself looked so different between the two roles to me.
You definitely know more than me about the context behind the movies! So idk about vive por mi- I remember he said he signed up for it because he felt for the organ transplant angle- because his corneal transplant was also possible due to a donor. But yeah, that movie was.. interesting..I may or may not have been watching it for the plot 👀🫣 (damn this man and his scenes in every single show/movie)
I am shocked to know Semana Santa was the movie where the director was an asshole to him 😭coz it was one of my favorites. Him, all the characters, the story was very touching for me. Now if I were to make a guess with you Nonnie, I would place my bets on Las Aparicio. The plot was well..what do I even say. And I feel like he was oversexualized and fetishized as a brown man, which made me uncomfortable. Like there's no depth to his character except for fulfilling the fantasies of those girls. I love Ana De La Reguera and him. They give very husband-wife kind of vibes. She has a sense of maturity and depth that matches him. Absolutely loved them in the Forever Purge together.
Him and Ana Brenda Contreras in Blue Demon were also a favorite pairing for me. Guess he pairs well with Anas. 🤭

Hmm, Sam Ryder from the UK (Eurovision Rep) kinda has a song in the vein of TS’s ATW. Lol, his is ATW(O) - https://youtu.be/UER1m3E0At8 (He’s the guy who got her earring caught in his hair at the MTV awards in Germany). I liked this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nN_0YlcN-i8 (Interesting lyrics & dynamic singer- theatrical?). He has worked in Nashville & is same age as her (similar music tastes). BTW you were very articulate in responding to my musical theater references. Wow, that’s why I like to read or see other’s reponses- because they may have a viewpoint I am unaware of. For example- someone said that Bejeweled intro references Into the Wood (film/musical). Lol, man, Corden keeps showing up on some of her projects. Sweeter than Fiction, Cats, Into the Woods, Rep dance skit, London Boy song, etc. Speaking of theatrical, HS’s music & videos AY (extended), TPWK, FL & MFASRmade me think his music & stories - very cinematic/theatrical also. Makes me wonder of TS & HS past unpublished collaborations and what they would come out now.
oh my gosh, this song is gorgeous, thank you so much for recommending it to me. Time heals, but it'll feel like slow motion/it's like I'm tryna move on but I'm frozen is very atw-coded.
he has such a powerful voice, i love the second song and its lyrics too! take the music, learn to use it turn it up/'til your speakers blow fuses/earn the rhythm, but never lose it/keep on moving 'til you know what the truth is
add him to my list of people who'd be fabulous as features on a vault track!
bejeweled definitely has some into the woods vibes, i'm not sure if she intended that or if it's the cinderella overlap in general. (into the woods is another one that is very dear to me, and i think taylor would empathize with cinderella and the baker's wife for different reasons. honestly, rapunzel and the witch too). her interest in fairytales has been a prevalent theme throughout her career, that's part of what leads me to believe (along with what gdt said about the topics they discussed and books he gave her) that her film will have a fairytale/fable element of some kind.
secret confessions i have never seen the into the woods movie adaptation because i fear a couple of the choices for the casting would anger me lmao (sorry to that man)
harry very much has a theatrical/showmanship vibe in his music videos as well, that seems to be a medium he enjoys using, and in very odd ways at times that could only come from his brain (i love adore you. does it make sense that it's a fish? maybe not. is it somehow sweetly emotional and human about joy and letting love go when you have to and finding yourself? yes!).
Makes me wonder of TS & HS past unpublished collaborations - what they have or might have created! this will always haunt me.

i feel like i’m going fully feral over the broken hearts gallery. i can’t believe i didn’t know about this movie until now. literally clicked on it for dacre (i’m hopelessly in love with him but who isn’t) and then it was just... wow.
i don’t know if anyone else feels like this but recently with current romcoms i’ve been kind of :/ about them because sometimes they just feel like they’re missing something? like they don’t have the charm of some of the classics, but maybe that’s just my nostalgia creating bias. anyway, i went into this movie expecting it to be generic and kind of boring but oh my god? not only is dacre’s character broody and quiet in a NON-obnoxious way, but his performance is just stunning? you can literally see nick falling for lucy whenever he looks at her. then, THEN we have to talk about geraldine viswanathan’s character because!!! man!! yes! she’s such a fun protagonist, she has elements of ‘manic pixie dream girl’ but she still manages to be her own person, she’s not there FOR a male character, she’s unapologetic about who she is and tbh she’s just downright compelling? and relatable. the way they start out as friends and their relationship builds is just so sweet and the fluff literally made me scream. not to mention it was nice to see a romcom with actual diversity in it. and all of the supporting characters were so much fun too.
anyways, i’ll be thinking about this movie for a month. the ending made me want to lie down and cry in a good, soft way. if you want something lighthearted and feel-good i’d definitely recommend it. holy shit.

Midnight Kiss
Tumblr media
Author: @alwayseverlark
Prompt: Everlark having low-key holidays due to recent hospitalization (preferably not anything too serious causing it) of one of them, bonus if the recovering party tries to rally but the other has to convince them to come home early bc they actually should have stayed in bed. any rating, modern setting, established relationship preferred. (this was me a few years ago except there was no one to tell my dumb ass not to go nye bowling and i had just had surgery and it was a MISTAKE) [submitted by @timeladyzelie]
Rating: T
Author’s Note: Thanks as always to @jhsgf82 ! you’re the best!! _____________
Katniss: How are you feeling? Does it hurt a lot?
Peeta: Hey there, beautiful!
Peeta: It’s going a bit better; the painkillers are strong.
Katniss: I shouldn’t have brought you to that slope; it was a black diamond. It’s my fault.
Katniss: Are you sure you don’t want me to come to your house and stay with you?
Peeta: You don’t deserve to be stuck here just because your clumsy boyfriend fell…
Katniss: Don’t say that!
Peeta: No worries. I’m fine, see?
Peeta: **inserts picture**
Peeta: You don’t have to worry. I’ll watch a movie and go to sleep. The pills are making me feel dizzy and sleepy. I wouldn’t be great company tonight.
Katniss: I’d rather be with you, Peeta, even if you’re sleeping.
Peeta: No, It’s fine. Besides, you know how my mom is 😒 She wouldn’t let you near my room.
Katniss: Ok 😞 I’m going to miss you though.
Peeta: I want you to have fun. Go and celebrate with the girls
Katniss: And boys. Finnick and Gale will be there also.
Peeta: Oh.
Peeta: I thought Gale was going back to Chicago.
Katniss: He was, but when we spoke earlier he changed his mind and said he could stay a couple of days more. Spend more time with family.
****
“Yes. I’m sure that’s why he’s staying,” I mutter to myself, getting a bad feeling as I look over the chat where my oblivious girlfriend has broken the news.
Katniss and Gale haven’t been dating for a while now, nearly 8 months, but the thing is, Katniss and I have only been dating a few weeks. And I know for a fact, Katniss was the one who broke up with him, but Gale tried to get back with her over the last six months.
The news is definitely making me anxious.
****
Katniss: Peeta…
Katniss: I’m really going to miss you tonight.
****
My heart skips a bit when I read Katniss’ text. It’s maybe the most affectionate and clear written indication of her feelings for me.
****
Peeta: I am going to miss you more, sweetheart.
Katniss: I will call you at midnight x
****
Sixty minutes later, I am still looking at the conversation. It isn’t fair.
This was supposed to be the beginning of, hopefully, more years together to come. It was a promise. I had my speech planned, not too sappy or long, because I didn’t want to scare Katniss, but enough to imply my devotion and willingness to stay with her as long as she’d have me.
And now she’ll be spending that moment with the guy I’ve been jealous of my whole life (except for the last few weeks).
“Hell no!” I exclaim to myself. I just have a broken leg, although the doctor said rest was highly recommended, in order to avoid a surgery.
I won’t be able to drive to Delly’s place, so I need a ride, and my middle brother, Rye, owes me a big favor. It’s time for him to pay back.
Sixty minutes later, we are on our way to the New Year’s party…and Rye isn’t happy.
“I can’t believe you’re going to make me spend tonight with Mom and Dad,” Rye grunts.
“Not only that, but you have to be the only one going into my room to check on me,” I advise Rye.
“I know, Peeta; you’ve already ‘briefed me,’” he mocks. “But remember, after 1 am, I’m done. If you aren’t in your room by then, I am out. I am not missing Glimmer’s party.”
“By that time, Mom and Dad should be passed out from drinking champagne, ” I remind him. “I just want to kiss Katniss at the new year. ”
“You are a goner, man.”
“Yes, I am in love with her.” I sigh.
“Wow, don’t tell Katniss that, or she’ll run away! Wasn’t that the reason she broke up with Hawthorne?” He warns me with a concerned look. Katniss has always been unapproachable, a bit intimidating.
“Yes, it was,” I say, avoiding his gaze and looking intensely at my hands and nails.
Gale had wanted Katniss to go to the University of Chicago, she wanted to stay closer to home with Prim. That initiated a long discussion where Gale told her he wasn’t as important as Prim, and Katniss agreed. She told me she realized then that she “loved” Gale, just not as much as she should.
“So, take it easy, bro” Rye says, ruffling my hair and winking, an unusually tender gesture for him.
When I arrive at the party it’s full of people, and soon I realize it’s going to be more difficult to find Katniss than I anticipated.
With my cast and my crutches, trying to navigate my way through the party attendees is a nightmare, and every bump of my leg makes me see stars. Then I see two things that stop me dead in the middle of the crowd:
One, I see Gale Hawthorne making out with Madge Undersee in a corner. Huh! It’s safe to say I didn’t see that coming.
Second, my girlfriend looks radiant. She’s laughing at something Jo’s saying; she’s carefree and looks happy and is enjoying the time with her friends. She then looks down at her phone and caresses the screen with her fingers, I guess over the picture on her screen of Prim, Katniss, and myself on her porch steps.
My phone beeps with a new text.
****
Katniss: I’m thinking about you…
Peeta: Aw! Are you?
****
I answer quickly wearing the dumbest smile ever as I see her reaction when she sees my text.
****
Katniss: I certainly am.
Peeta: And I am certain that you look beautiful tonight..
Katniss: You’re such a flirt.
Katniss: You don’t even know what I’m wearing tonight.
Peeta: I could ask you for a picture, or I could try to guess.
Katniss: Ok, challenge accepted.
Peeta: What if I win?
****
She snorts and shakes her head. I can see herself blushing while biting her lower lip.
Katniss: If you guess what I’m wearing I’ll allow you to take off that piece of clothing, Mellark.
I raise my eyebrows, disbelieving what I’m reading. It would be the understatement of the year to say I’m eager to win this game.
****
Peeta: If I had to guess, I’d say your hair is in your signature braid and you’re wearing a deep green sweater with a boat neckline falling off one of your shoulders.
****
She gasps, and I push this charade a little bit, enjoying her reaction.
****
Peeta: Specifically falling off your right shoulder…
Her head shoots up, and she starts to scan the room until her gaze finds me. She walks towards me with a happy smile. I’m so entranced looking at her surprised face that I don’t realize a very big drunk boy is heading my direction until he crashes into me. I lose my balance, not used to the crutches and my cast, but before I fall to the ground, she catches me, helping me avoid a very painful situation for my battered leg.
“Hi,” she says, her body fully pressed against mine and her hands on my waist to help me regain balance.
“Thanks for saving my leg,” I say
“What are you doing here?” she asks, and I detect a bit of reproach in her voice.
“I missed you,” I say.
“Peeta, the doctor said you should move as little as possible if you don’t want to risk a surgery…”
But I interrupt her and nudge my nose against her hair, inhaling Katniss’s scent. “Don’t be angry with me. I just wanted to kiss you at midnight, for the new year.“
I can feel her relaxing in my arms. “I want to be with you also for the countdown, Peeta, but this isn’t safe for you. Everyone is going to get crazy, jumping and celebrating, and I want you to be healthy…please.”
She’s right; she’s totally right, but before I go, I need to do something. I grab her by the neck and kiss her deeply, hoping her taste on my lips will last until the new year. When she moves to break the kiss, I groan.
“I don’t want to go yet,” I complain, kissing her again.
“Well,” she says playfully, “you have to go… but I’m going with you.“
“No way, Katniss. I want you to enjoy the party.“
“Yes, but I want to be with you. I’ve been thinking about you the whole night, Peeta, and you know me well enough to know I’m not a party girl. I only agreed because you told me about your mum…but I guess you managed to get a cover,” she cleverly deduces.
“Rye.” I laugh, and she laughs with me.
“Ok, then let’s go. I’m driving us.”
Once we’re back at my home (thank God for the bakery rear door), both of us safely tucked in my bed, watching a movie and eating some popcorn that Rye has snuck into my room, l feel Katniss press her forehead into my temple. I ask, "So now that you’ve got me back in my bed, what are you going to do with me?"
I turn into her and look into those big grey eyes I adore. She smiles and answers before kissing me, “Put you somewhere you can’t get hurt. Happy New Year, Peeta.”
I can only smile and kiss her back, but she stops me and climbs onto my lap, being careful not to touch my injured leg, and she says, “It’s time for your payment of our bet.”

I’ve had a pretty fun summer of reading so far! I haven’t had as many chances to just zone out with a book as I’d like, but what I have had has been exactly the sort of healing I’ve been needing.
Tumblr media
Animorphs: The Message
I know this series has come up on a previous book roundups, but I continue to (very slowly) work through Animorphs. It’s one series that I had never gotten to as a kid — I saw it all over the place, but I found the covers rather unnerving so I never gravitated to it. And after a certain point I simply felt too old. I’m glad I’m finally reading it because Katherine Applegate continues to be an undeniable genius and this series is already knocking my socks off, and I’m only four books in. What’s not to enjoy about genocidal aliens and crushing levels of stress and trauma placed on the backs for five kids who are being ruthlessly hunted but have to try to maintain a sense of normalcy while they attempt to save all of Earth from devastation? And for once, it’s a kid series that actually ADDRESSES how deeply fucked up that all is instead of skating past it. Big fan. And I’ve finally met Ax! I cannot wait for the next book! Heck, I can’t wait til I finally get a book in his POV!
Tumblr media
Demon Slayer v3 - 4
I finally know who the is boar-headed guy is! The kids recommending this series to me were all very excited for me to finally meet him and now I have! What an absolute idiot, he’s a delight! Demon Slayer is definitely a bit of a Classic Shounen but it does it so well I can’t even be upset. The main character is such a genuinely enjoyable character, and so far the side characters all have big, amusing personalities, so it’s very appealing, especially when it’s wrapped in such lovely, nostalgic art. (It really does make me think of more old school Inuyasha art rather than what I consider more contemporary manga art... does that make sense? Is anyone else on the same page as me?) Oh, and I would die for his sister. Sibling relationships instead of romantic relationships? Yes PLEASE, not enough series focus on strong sibling bonds.
Tumblr media
Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation v1
Wow. This is easily my big gold star book of the month, hands down the best thing I’ve read in a while. I couldn’t put it down! I can see why people have been freaking out about this series and its various adaptations now; I had to go out and buy the next book IMMEDIATELY when I realized I was only fifty pages from the end. I was expecting a much more serious historical style novel, you know the sort with lots of political intrigue and a bit of magic thrown in on the side. I was not expecting something so funny and playful and it’s really stolen my whole heart. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji are such a pair of idiots and I can’t wait to see where things go in book 2.
Tumblr media
Haikyu v39 - 41
SO CLOSE TO THE END OF THE SERIES, I CAN’T WAIT! I’m always impressed by how this author manages to keep up tension and engagement through every match, especially one as long as this most recent one, but the four different views on what it means to be a short volleyball player is fantastic, and then Hinata FINALLY running out of stamina and collapsing??? I’ve been waiting for that trope to appear since like book 2 so I nearly SCREAMED when it finally hit! Ah!
Tumblr media
The Iron Giant // The Iron Man
This book was originally published as The Iron Man but because of the movie adaptation calling itself The Iron Giant (I believe to avoid confusion with the Marvel character?) that’s what it tends to be published under know. It’s very different than the movie, but both were really good. This book was a bit less emotional than the movie, but it has a very pure, classic, 1950s fun whimsical kid’s novel vibe to it that makes you just feel really cosy and nostalgic. A strange, scary, possibly dangerous robotic man appears from the ocean! What’s it going to do? What can people do to stop it? What will happen when people suddenly need it to save them?
And this specific edition had the COOLEST art and page design, if you go to read it I really recommend getting your hands on a physical copy of this one because it’s SO much fun to read.
Tumblr media
The Iron Woman
The sequel to The Iron Giant that I didn’t know existed. I was trepidatious at first because these sorts of sequels are usually not… great. But straight up? I think I liked this one even more than the first. It deals with environmentalism and capitalism’s effect on the natural environment in shockingly harsh ways. Damn, it had more worthwhile things to say, and pulled less punches, than a lot of modern media when talking about environmental devastation, the massive and all consuming consequences on ecological collapse, and what amounts to the morality of environmental terrorism. The character of the Iron Woman emerges from the depths to share the agonized screams of every animal that’s being impacted by water being made uninhabitable. I highly recommend this book, it was BEAUTIFUL and I would kill for a Ghibli-style adaptation of it.
Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation wins for my favourite book of the month, but only because I’m queer and simple in my pleasures. This book probably deserves it more though -- while the ending was a bit weak, the rest of the book was masterfully and chillingly written in a way that is approachable to children and powerful for adults.
Tumblr media
Lore Olympus v1
I’m always here for a Persephone/Hades retelling, and I’d heard a lot of good things about it, so I was excited to give it a read. I have to admit, the beginning was… rocky. The characterization was rather weak and felt like it was mostly built on cliches and half-assed jokes, but by about the halfway mark it felt like it started to come into its own. And that’s not surprising for stories published online, they tend to improve as the creator gets a better sense for their story and characters and craft. I was enjoying it quite a bit by the end and am looking forward to getting my hands on book two.
Tumblr media
Minecraft: The Mountain
I was as shocked as anyone that I enjoyed the first book of this Minecraft isekai novel, but what can I say: Max Brooks can write a pretty damn convincing survival novel. The Mountain starts after The Hero has left their island and has  begun their exploration of the bigger world looking for answers and, hopefully, a way home. While the first book is largely built around the character developing understanding and rules for survival and perseverance, this book is about them finally meeting another human and developing a set of rules for how to be able to work and live with someone who may have different priorities and values than they do. They also introduce the nether and a host of updates to the world that keeps The Hero wrongfooted and learning.
I didn’t love this one as much as the first, but it was enjoyable enough. One of the big downsides for me was confirming that The Hero is male. I really admired how the first book left The Hero gender neutral and allowed the reader to imagine themselves or their own characters onto the protagonist. Book two took that away and it was jarring. Still, I’m at least intrigued by the prospect of a third book in the series.
Tumblr media
Sasaki and Miyano v1
This was a benignly cute little manga that I bought on a whim because of a recommendation. Honestly, I read it at the beginning of the month and it didn’t stand out in a huge way… there’s not much I have to say about it beyond I enjoyed reading it and will probably read it again at some point now that I own it, but it didn’t really make any waves. I won’t be seeking out book two; it didn’t really do anything that felt memorable or different, but if you want just a cute little, slightly clueless, romance, then it’s worth picking up.
Tumblr media
The Spiderwick Chronicles: The Wrath of Mulgarath
I recently reread the Spiderwick Chronicles and just finished book five. It’s about a family who moves into their great aunt’s old house to care for it now that she can’t. Jared and his siblings gradually start learning the secrets of the old house and what their great-great-uncle Arthur Spiderwick had discovered about the creatures that share their world. It’s such a wonderful take on fairy mythology, with lots of excitement, and the art is beyond stunning. It is consistently well written, with a tight story, and spot on characterization the whole way through. It’s a huge recommendation for kids and adults alike; now that it’s been printed as an omnibus it’s really easy for an adult to pick up and read as one big novel rather than five separate novellas/chapter books. I’m going to have to read the second arc... it hadn’t been out when I originally read this series as a kid but I really love the world Black and DiTerlizzi created here. The fairies are beatiful, but not the standard bland design, they all feel like they could be real, dangerous, slightly alien creatures.
Tumblr media
On Stranger Tides
A supernatural pirate story that I was actually really enjoying. Let’s be honest, Our Flag Means Death just got me hungry for more interesting pirate media and I saw that this was considered a pretty highly recommended classic. Very well earned — a bit racist, a bit misogynistic but over all a really fun adventure! I didn’t actually finish it, sadly… I kind of petered off. I’m not sure why it couldn’t hold my attention, perhaps I was just feeling too busy and stressed? Or maybe I was just feeling grumpy about it being too hetero after experiencing OFMD hahaha. I’m considering myself “done” with it for now, which is why it’s here, but I may pick it back up again at some point… Genuinely worth the read if you’re also looking for an interesting pirate adventure.
Tumblr media
Witch Hat Atelier v3
I really love the magic system this series introduces, and the art is absolutely beautiful. It really feels different from what any other manga I’ve seen lately is doing. It sort of reminds me of +Anima in ways I really couldn’t describe... The story isn’t really keeping me that interested, sadly, I’m kind of neutral to it, but it’s pretty enough that it keeps drawing me into the next book every so often. I’ll probably grab book four from the library at some point.

Yu-Gi-Oh: Final Thoughts
I used to watch Yugioh when I was much younger. Honestly, it was one of my first obsessions. I watched it religiously on the WB every chance I got. It was on directly after Pokémon, which was interesting. I always felt like I was just watching Pokémon because it was on, but I was actually there just waiting for Yugioh. Why I never caught on with Pokémon, I couldn’t tell you. But there you go. It just wasn’t for me. Once Pokémon was over, I could feel the excitement. What episode of Yugioh would it be today? Duelist Kingdom? Marik being his creepy self? The Orichalcos arch? It didn’t matter. I was ready to watch it, even if I had already seen it. And if it was a new episode I hadn’t seen, even better. No one could talk to me while I was watching it. I was zeroed in. Nothing else existed.
I had Yugioh cards, and I forced my younger brother to have some too, so we could “duel” to a degree. It was really just playing random cards until one of us played a Blue Eyes, which basically meant the duel was over. Neither of us liked math, so we didn’t keep track of life points. My dad went on a business trip to Japan during this time, and he brought back Japanese Yugioh cards for both of us. They were the coolest thing I owned for a good long while, even if I had no idea how to use them.
Then I got older, and I moved on to different obsessions. My cards got buried under the detritus of a messy life, until they fell into some kind of crack in the universe, and I lost them. I’ve moved quite a few times since then, including to a different state, so I’m guessing they got left behind somewhere, perhaps in the few boxes that always seem to go missing in a move. I hope they were found by someone who knew how to use them.
Now that I’ve reached a certain point in my life, I’ve started feeling very nostalgic. So, one night, as I was surfing through Netflix, I saw the first season of Yugioh appear in my recommendations. Instantly, I was transported back to simpler times, when weekday afternoons were filled with anticipation for a few episodes of a cartoon, and having my now lost deck of cards.
Watching this silly cartoon about the threat of ancient and dark forces being resolved by a trading card game was truly a wonderful experience. I remembered why I loved this show, why I was strangely into reading about ancient Egyptian history when other kids were more interested in gossip, why I constantly rented the Yugioh movie at Hollywood Video.
One character who surprised me this time around was Seto Kaiba. In the past, I was always obsessed with Atem, and I still very much am. But I found myself getting drawn towards this snarky billionaire, where previously I barely paid him any attention at all. This is probably because, as a young and optimistic child, I couldn’t understand him. But as an embittered and negative adult, I could finally SEE him. So I started paying attention, and I was not disappointed. He’s a character that seems to have been gift wrapped for us to come back to as adults, so we can better appreciate his sense of humor and negative worldview as we grow up and understand just how right he was about a lot of things.
Another surprise for me was… Yugi. This is going to be a hot take, so apologies in advance. I didn’t like Yugi when I was younger. I was just always hoping for the pharaoh to come out, because I thought he was badass, and Yugi was just weak. Now, this very much could be the result of my consuming this show out of order when I was younger. I can now say, proudly, that I have revised this error in judgment on a rewatch as an adult. Yugi is a treasure. He’s my precious cinnamon roll. His growth throughout this series was phenomenal, and I truly felt glad to have been able to witness it. His relationship with Atem was beautiful. A bond for the ages. A reciprocal relationship which allowed BOTH OF THEM, regardless of their level of dueling expertise, to learn from one another. It was a lot of fun to watch play out.
This brings me to Atem himself. Wow. My dude is still definitely a badass, but now I can really understand why he’s a badass. This might sound weird, but bear with me. Atem is almost like John Wick. He is a man of focus, commitment, and sheer fucking will. But, while John Wick is a badass for personal reasons, and because he was a major player in a criminal underworld, Atem is a badass for the right reasons. Imagine having a John Wick fighting to save the world, rather than just for righteous vengeance. That’s Atem. He was determined to be victorious, BECAUSE he knew the fate of the world depended on him, and also because saving the world meant protecting Yugi. To have someone like that on the good side meant I could gladly watch him be the best at defeating other people just as determined as him.
Anyways, this is a very long post, but Yugioh deserves it. It was special to me back then, and it’s still precious to me now. Sure, it’s a little weird, but that was fine with me. The story underneath all that marketing was fun to watch, so it was all more than worth it.

It's hard to believe it's already June! The year has gone by and now we're in the middle of Summer! I am really looking forward to getting some reading done on holiday this year and sitting on a beach with no one bothering me. Wow that sounds good.
These are my favourite books of the year so far! Here's to many more!
1. BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2022?
This is so hard. I have around 30 five star books so far this year, however if I had to pick one I would pick Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley. The impact of this story on me was huge and made for gripping reading from beginning to end. I'd highly recommend it to everyone (just please check trigger warnings).
2. BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2022?
I think for me it has to be Hollowpox. The ending of that book literally kept me up at night just thinking about Morrigan and the impact of her decision on her life. My head was just filled with what could happen next in Silverborn. I am so looking forward to the new book coming out later this year.
3. NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET, BUT WANT TO?
The one book currently that I really want to read but haven't got to yet is Life Ceremony by Sayaka Murata. I've enjoyed both Earthlings and Convenience Store Woman and really want to read her short story collection. I need to get that book as soon as possible!
4. MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR SECOND HALF OF 2022?
Silverborn is definitely up there for me right now as I need to know what happens next to Morrigan Crow, but also I can't wait for The Golden Enclaves the third book in the Scholomance series by Naomi Novik and also The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman.
5. BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT?
As Good As Dead, the final book in the Good Girl's Guide To Murder is not for me. I really didn't vibe with that last book at all.
6. BIGGEST SURPRISE?
Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl. Honestly I just wanted to listen to a book while I did the chores and organised my bookshelves and ended up hooked on it. A great storyline, fantastic twists and turns and a cast of characters that keeps you entertained from beginning to end. A fantastic book.
7. FAVOURITE NEW AUTHOR?
Terry Pratchett. At the beginning of this year I decided to just read all of his books, and I'm now up to book thirty and honestly he has made me laugh, he has made me cry and he has made me think thanks to his Discworld series, I can't wait to keep going and finish this series and to see the world in it's completion.
8. NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH?
Celia St James. She sounds like an absolutely beautiful woman from Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (I get Jessica Chastain vibes).
9. NEWEST FAVOURITE CHARACTER?
Sam Vimes, absolutely love that man.
10. BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY?
Familiar Things by Hwang Sok-Yong should not be as devastating as it is, but that ending is brutal and I am yet to recover emotionally from it. Just a beautifully written book but oh, my god, the feelings tied up in that book I have.
11. BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY?
You know, I Want To Die But I Want To Eat Tteokbokki is so good because I just felt in moments of that book so seen. I loved that book and it's definitely one of my new favourites.
12. FAVOURITE BOOK TO MOVIE ADAPTATION YOU SAW THIS YEAR?
I will make this count, but Heartstopper. Heartstopper is so good!
13. FAVOURITE REVIEW YOU’VE WRITTEN THIS YEAR?
I think maybe it has to be The Lesson In Vengeance one or the review of I Want To Die But I Want To Eat Tteokbokki, I'm not sure.
14. MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU BOUGHT SO FAR THIS YEAR?
I got it from the library but it has to be Biophilia by Christopher Marley.
15. WHAT BOOKS DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR?
I do not pressure myself like this, but I have four ARCs right now which include This Vicious Grace, The House Across The Lake, The Book Of Astronomy 2023 and The Dragon's Promise and I am sure I will ask for more books too!
What would be your response to the questions? Please let me know!
Vee xo.

“What? Why?” Kirishima questioned, poking his head out from behind Bakugo, “We’ve been planning this for weeks! You can't just flunk on us like this!!” Kaminari exclaimed, causing Mina to rethink the amount of time that went into tonight's now somewhat ruined plans “Aha~ yeah... sorry about that guys. Maybe another time.” she scratched the back of her head.
Mina was about to leave before being stopped by a hard grip on her wrist “Oi, raccoon eyes. You better have a good excuse for this.” Bakugo glared, his crimson eyes almost seemed as if they could pierce holes in her soul. ‘Why does Bakugo of all people care!?’ She fumbled on her words, trying to find a reasonable excuse that would reward her the get-out-of-jail-free card without spilling the beans on anything private. “Uh- well- I uhm…”
“Bakugo, leave her alone. Forcing yourself into her business isn’t very manly of you.” Kirishima chimed, ‘Right before I was about to get blown to bits! Thanks, Kirishima!’ Mina sighed in her head, before checking the time. 2:54pm. She promised to meet her date at 3pm.
Before anyone knew it, Mina was dashing down to the common room and out the door, almost appearing as a pink blur to everyone around her.
“Wha-what was that??” “I think that was Mina~” “Where is she going that fast!?” “I don't know,,”  “Mina’s fast but I didn't think she would be able to pull off those kinds of speeds.” the class-A girls conversed, wondering in concern what's got Mina in such a rush.
“Shit! I'm gonna be late! This isn't even the first time!!” Mina panicked, still racing over to the park the two of you had planned to meet at.
Mina recalled the time she came almost 20 minutes late to a date because she didn't know what to wear, digging through her closet to find something she thought you would like. Dresses, skirts, sweaters, shorts, jeans, you name it, she probably tried it.
To say the least, Mina was nervous.
───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
Mina continued to race towards the park she had agreed to meet at. Her pace began to slow as her stamina got closer to reaching its limit. “Hey, Mina!!” she heard a familiar voice call out. “Y/n!! Hi!” huffed out as she came to a stop. Mina took a moment to gather her breath, her hands on her knees as she pants. “Did you seriously run all the way here from your dorm?” y/n questioned after a minute of silence.
“Of course I did! I didn’t want to be late,,, again.”
“You’re a riot.”
“Thanks!”
───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
The weather outside was nice and the view the park offered was wonderful. Flowers of all sorts bloomed on the flowerbeds. Mina could see daffodils, tulips, alliums, sunflowers, all of different colours. The clouds created gorgeous patterns in the sky, larger ones blocking out the sun and giving the area a slightly darker atmosphere, nobody seemed to mind though. Trees shaded parts of the park, most of the adults seemed to linger around there, watching the children play together.
Mina and y/n took a seat at one of the benches that was shaded by a tall and broad tree, the smell of nature flowing around it, their hands intertwined. Mina wasn’t the best in some compartments, but one thing she is good at is conversation. It's hard to find a dull moment with her, maybe that’s why people like being around her so much. y/n definitely wasn’t at her level when it came to social skills but the conversations between them flowed so effortlessly, the two of them just seemed to click in the best way possible. Two puzzle pieces that were meant to be together, created to be together.
“Hey! Mina, look!!” y/n pointed to an ice cream parlor across the park, a small line of children with their parent’s 5 dollar bills in their hands  “Let’s get popsicles!”
“Sure! Last one there has to pay!!” Mina ran off towards the parler.
“Hey-! No fair!!” y/n ran after her, taking an extra moment to pick up her skateboard, the thought of riding it to pass Mina not crossing her mind. Mina was a fast runner, most of the men in her class not able to compete without their quirks, same thing goes for y/n. It was possible her skateboard wouldn’t even be able to put up a rewarding fight.
Mina waited by the parler, almost mockingly stretching her arms as she waited for her date to catch up. “Took you long enough~!” Mina giggled
“Yeah yeah, whatever,” y/n got out a $15 bill from her pocket before immediately having it taken from her hands. “I was joking! Let me pay instead!” Mina pleaded “I wanna make it up to you for coming late,”
“Babes, you were a minute late..”
“I made you wait an extra minute!! And what about all those other times I-” Mina was cut off by the Parler man clearing his throat to get their attention. She shoved her money onto the counter before ordering y/n’s favourite flavor and a strawberry popsicle for herself. The Parler man took the money before opening  his parler and handing them the requested flavoured popsicles.
“Thanks, sir!” Mina chirps before taking y/n’s hand, bringing her back to the bench the two of them were sitting at before. The two of them unwrapped their cold treats, enjoying and sharing them with each other.
Conversation continued to flow between the two, time quickly passing by. Parents began taking their children home, young adults began walking home from their jobs, the city seemed alive.
Wind blew on the three branches of the park, a chill starting to coat the air.
“It’s probably gonna get cold soon, maybe we should get inside.” y/n proposed
“Yeah... Hey! You should come to the dorms!” Mina was quick to suggest, she’s always wanted to bring y/n to her room. The idea of having y/n close to her body, sharing snacks and watching funny videos on instagram always brought warmth to her heart. The idea of getting caught never really crossed her mind.
“Are you sure? Your classmates are definitely gonna find out.”
“No they won’t, I promise!”
“Mina, they’re heroes-in-training…”
───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
When mina was set on a decision, it was hard to get her to settle for something else, that’s something y/n’s learned many times. Mina dragged her partner to the UA dorm buildings, planning out loud what they could do together. Face masks, tiktoks, nails, and dancing are only a few of the activities that came into question.
“I like the sound of face masks, I've been needing one for a while, my acne’s been acting up.” y/n groaned. “Dancing also sounds pretty fun, do you have any new playlists?”
“I always have new playlists! Plus, Jirou recommended me some new songs the other day, her music taste actually isn’t that bad,” Mina giggled, “For a goth, that is.” y/n laughed at her comment.
Mina talked about her classmates often, sometimes even gossiping about them. She never said anything hurtful, though, it was usually just a few mentions after finding something that reminded her of them. She once found a icyhot packet in the store and went on about this hot and talented guy in her class, a frog jumping around near a pond caused her to ramble on about her friend Tsu, and the taste of a tea served to her at a cafe reminded her of the tea her friend Momo would serve at the tutor sessions she hosted.
Soon enough, the couple was standing in front of Heights Alliance, preparing a plan to get inside without being noticed. “Everyone’s usually elsewhere at this time, probably in their rooms or off training or something~” Mina opens the door to the building, “We should be good.”
Mina peeps her head inside, making sure no one was in the common room before she proceeded. She motioned for y/n to come inside, before walking further inside the building. “C’mon, my room is this way!” Mina took y/n’s hand, passing by the common room and to the elevator. y/n couldn’t help but look around, she had never been in the Dormitories until this point, it was much nicer, and bigger, than she expected. The elevator ride was quiet, the fear of having classmates hear them while they continued their loud conversation through the halls on their minds.
The elevator stopped at the selected floor, Mina took y/n’s hand again before leading her to their destination just around the corner. “Here is it! Come on in!” Mina smiled before unlocking and opening her room door.
“Oh wow, so… pink.” y/n gasped “Yeah!! Do you like it?”
“Of course I do! Your whole room just reminds me of you, I love it!” y/n wrapped her hands around her date “And I love you too!”
“I love you more!!” Mina giggled, returning the hug. Her embrace was warm, warmer than one might expect, that might be the result of such a pure heart.
“Whatcha wanna do? I have a bunch of stuff here,” Mina pulls out a box from under her bed and begins to dig through it, “I have face masks and beauty supplies here, snacks and candy hidden around my room, we could also watch some movies or find a show to binge!”
“Face masks are a good idea, and I’m down to watch a movie while we wait for them to dry.” y/n gets down beside her on the ground, watching her sift through her box of stuff.
“Awesome! What movie should we watch? I have a bunch of DVD’s on my shelf but we could always find something on Netflix. Oh and pick your favourite face mask!” Mina presented about 12 different face masks for y/n to choose from.
“Oh~ I like that one! It’s my favourite colour, and it has a nice scent.” y/n picked up the f/c bottle, reading the labels on the back and admiring the smell emitting from it. “Nice choice! I’ll go with this one!” Mina holds up a pink, sparkly bottle with grapefruits and strawberries on the front. “This one’s my favourite, I use it all the time!”
“I can see why,” y/n laughs, Mina joining in.
───✱*.。:。✱*.:。✧*.。✰*.:。✧*.。:。*.。✱ ───
The two of them sat comfortably on Mina’s bed, y/n on her lap and arms wrapped around her. A movie the couple had agreed on plays in front of them on Mina’s laptop as they wait for their face masks to dry, sharing candy she had hid around her room. Mina occasionally placed soft kisses on y/n’s cheeks, jaw and neck, it was her favourite thing to do in this position. While Mina enjoyed receiving affection, she seemed to love giving affection even more.
Soon enough, the movie ended and credits began to roll, giving y/n and Mina a moment to stretch after sitting in one position for over an hour. “That was a good movie.” y/n said between stretches. “Yeah, I’m gonna recommend it to Hagakure, she’s been looking for good movies to watch lately.” Mina got out her phone to check the time, “We still have a few hours, wanna watch another one while we wait for our nails to dry?”
“We’re gonna do nails too?”
“Yeah!”
“Sure.”
Tumblr media
Uhm i’m not sure how to continue and end this so i’ll do HCs for this part LMAOO
I gotta get better at writing smh
Anyways, after Mina took you to her dorm for the first time you started coming over more often
The two of you always have a shitton of fun when you do
Not like you ever not have fun with Mina
Although this one time was different~
Your skateboard had dirt and mud on it from riding after a storm, so you had left it by the door to avoid tracking any of it in Mina’s room
But it so happened Denki was walking by and found it in the hallway floor
And seeing it was outside Mina’s door he decided to not knock and ask if it was hers
He caught yall cuddling while binging your favourite anime
“Yo, Mina, is this skateboard you-”
He went 👁️👄👁️
After an eternity a few seconds of pure silence Denki’s like BHJNBHJVHJ WHO’S THAT???? AND WHY ARE YOU SO CLOSE TO THEM-??/?????
Mina sighs and explains the whole thing about how yall have been dating in secret and going on dates and stuff
The look on the boy’s face was literally surprised pikachu
Mina asked him to keep a secret but c'mon now we all know Mr. Kaminari cannot keep a secret for the life of him👩🏾‍🦯 big mouth headass
He told everyone.
the look on Mina’s face when Sero brought up her secret girlfriend the next day was priceless
“H-hOW YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT!?”
“Denki told me.”
Denki: *choke*
He knows he’s ‘bouta get his ass beat.
As for reactions, they’re mainly looking pretty positive ✨
Denki, kirishima, bakugou and sero are the first people to find out, and probably one of the only people Mina talks about you to besides the other class a girls
They’re happy for her (although bakuhoe wouldn’t admit it- he pretends he don’t care but c'mon we know better than that), and definitely wanna meet you sometime soon
All the class A girls and basically screaming
Cuz like- wHAT
How could Mina keep such a big secret grrrrr >:((
She ends up bringing you and the rest of the girls to her room to meet you
Expect expect like 30 questions from each of them about various different topics that may or may not matter
Remember the boys who didn't care about seeing the girl’s rooms in that one episode? Yea this squad is still on their shit🧘🏾‍♀️
Okay well they do care, just not as much dnjskbjdkn
Sato would bake you a yummy cupcake!
You ain’t neva eating something that delicious ever again just sayin~
Everyone else would silently wish to meet you one day
Tenya is probably the only person you should look out for
if you don’t have Aizawa’s permission to be on campus he probably won’t let you inside🖐🏾
aizawa don’t care tho so getting permission isn’t a problem
Overall, 1-A’s reaction to Mina’s girlfriend is pretty positive! 😗✌🏾

Welcome to the world of kdrama whump part 4!
Oh wow how am I at part 4 already? But I keep finding new kdramas and I keep finding new whump in them so here I am! Let’s just get right to it shall we? If you want to see the other 3 parts you can find them here: part 1, part 2, part 3
Period Drama:
1. Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung ( 신입사관 구해령)
Available on Netflix
So first up on this list is a really cute period drama that is packed with so much of funny scenes and also really serious stuff. It’s set in the 19th century and it’s about a female historian Goo Hae Ryung and how she becomes a historian and we also learn about prince Lee Rim and he’s a writer in secret! and it’s got quite a bit of mystery too which I quite liked. and Cha Eun Woo is really great in this along with Shin Se Kyung.
Here’s a list of the whump that @whumpetywhump did. You should check it out!
Tumblr media
2. The King Eternal Monarch ( 더 킹: 영원의 군주)
Available on Netflix
Ah, this one. I almost didn’t add it to the list because i wasn’t happy with the way it was written. but whump and cinematogaphy wise, this show is so good! (plus wdh + whump never disappoins). So it’s set in a parallel world to ours in the ‘Kingdom of Corea and it revolves around a plot to murder the royal family but the prince survives and goes on to be the king in current day Corea. but some how, with the use of Manpasikjeok which is like a supernatural flute, they can travel between worlds, (between the Kingdom of Corea and The Republic of South Korea). So the story focuses on the king and a mysterious person who saves him on the night the king dies. Pretty interesting concept, could have been executed better but oh well. It was pretty funny and intertaining for the most part.
Tumblr media
Action:
1. Two Cops ( 투깝스)
Available on Netflix, Viu and Viki
Oh this show is so good too! It’s about a detective who is trying to solve a case and then catches the guy he was after but then somehow the guys spirit ends up possessing (but in a funny way, it’s not scary) the detectives body and so they need to work together to solve the case which starts to get complicated. There’s whump for both the characters and it’s pretty goood!
Here’s a list of all the whump!
Tumblr media
2. My Secret Terius ( 내 뒤에 테리우스)
Available on Netflix, Viue and Viki
My Secret Terius is so fun! and so cute but also really dramatic. It starts off with the lead loosing her husband and a mysterious man who lives next door to her. He’s basically a NIS agent and he’s got a lot of back story which you will find out throughout the show. And then Go Ae-Rin (the lead lady) discovers that there was some conspiracy to her husbands death and they work together to solve the mystery all while fighting other bad guys too..
Also, the kids in this show are super cute. Here they are trying to help Kim Bon heal after he was rescued.
Tumblr media
3. Flower of Evil ( 악의 꽃)
Available on Viu and Netflix
One of my top 3 kdramas from 2020 i think! So this one is about Baek Hee Song and he’s married to a detective and they have a cute little daughter! and Baek Hee Song is like the perfect guy but in reality he had a lot of secrets and he’s been living under someone else’s name and his wife doesn’t even know. So his past slowly comes to light all while his wife is figuring out a case that may or may not involve him. It was pretty intense but also really intersting and Lee Joon Gi whump never disappoints, just look at this gif XD
Tumblr media
Angst and Melodrama Family:
1. 18 Again ( 18 어게인)
Available on Netflix and Viu
So, if you’re in the mood for some heartfelt kdrama with lots of tears and lots of heartwarming moments, this is definitely the show for you. I don’t think I made it through any of the episodes without crying. So this is actually based of the American movie 17 again! It follows the same premise of our main guy (Hong Dae Young) getting turned into an 18 year old kid and him and his wife are on the verge of a divorce. But there’s so much more with how they struggle as young parents, to their relationships with everyone and their jobs. Everything about this was so good! (If you watch/watched this come yell about it with me. I can’t stop talking about it)

2.  It’s Okay to Not Be Okay ( 사이코지만 괜찮아)
Available on Netflix
I think this was one of the top kdramas for 2020 and rightly so because it’s so good! aside from some flaws it had a really great storyline and talks alot about mental health/traumas. So this is about a guy who is a psychiatric nurse and he has a brother who he takes care of. The story also focuses on a children’s book writer who has antisocial personality disorder and how they make it through life esp with all the trauma they’ve faced. It’s such a pretty show with a pretty decent storyline and of course some nice whump throughout. You should definitely check it out.

Supernatural:
1. Bring It On Ghost ( 싸우자 귀신아)
Available on Netfix, Viu and Viki
I didn’t think i was going to like this because it seemed kinda of scary and I don’t do well with horror. But this show was so good! It was a little scary but it was also really funny at the same time. It’s the story about a girl who dies and becomes a ghost so she’s wandering around. Then she meets an exorcist and becaomes friends with Bong Pal. They, together with the help of two uni friends go around fighting ghost and sending them away. It’s kinda like a kickass ghost fighting club with a little bit of mystery added it. So of course you can imagine that there will be whump :D
Here’s a list of all the whump! Thanks again whumpetywhump :)

2. The Uncanny Counter ( 경이로운 소문)
Available on Netflix
I think this has been recommended a few times here but I had to include it officially in this list. So this is about a group of people called Counters who hunt down evil spirits and they all have some kind of abilities. Then this high school kid, So Mun, ends up becoming one of them through certain events that take place and he’s some how involved in one of the cases that the counters are involved in. This show has everything I love! Found family, best friend trios, action as well as humour. It just finished airing too! Good stuff.
Here’s a list of all the whump! Thanks @love-me-a-lotta-whump
