Thoughts on My Adventures with Superman S2 FINALE

This has me kinda scared because Normally when this happens, it usually means 2 thing's; 1 this is either going to be Very long episode or 2, Somebody's going to die, and with the way the creator's have been teasing us with Tweets about Kara's demise, I'm guessing it's the ladder, and if that's the case WTF DC

Also if had a nickel for everytime that a Giant spaceship threatened to Destroy Earth as a way to Rebuild krypton in a Superman story, I'd have 2 nickels, which isn't alot, but it's weird that it's happened twice

So lemme get this straight, this Lex is smart enough to build the parasite suit, have a fail safe for that, is able to frame Superman gaining Millions of followers and government access, infuse Kryptonite to Kryptonian built robots, but isn't smart enough to come up with a fail safe when said robots get hacked!?....yeah I call Bullshit

Uh oh scary Kara's back, Damn it Brainiac why you gotta be such a Bitch; Also it may be nothing, but the way those missiles were moving kinda reminded of the way Darksides Omega beams would move, which got me thinking about something; What if Kryptons technology is possibly made from Apocalypse

This shot is ABSOLUTELY Beautiful; from the colors, to the camera work, to even the Symbolism between him and the Sun, everything was just Screams Superman

Tbh out of all the anime tropes they've done this season, I gotta say Talk no jutsu the 1 was NOT expecting them pull, and ya know what, I'm actually kinda glad they did, because it just fits Superman's MO; Superman has always been represented for kindness not his strength, like even if you've done him dirty, he'll still always choose to help you because that's just who he is, hes the person who just wants to help, he'll carry the weight of the world on his shoulders, he's the person who will try to stop a threat with his words before having to result to violence, he's the Man of Steel not because of what he can do, but because of who he is and always will be, hence why this trope works perfectly for him, it's the Perfect representation of what he embodies, Compassion, That's what makes him Superman

Ok I have a few things regarding this scene, 1st off i Absolutely love my 2 star children, 2nd of all Kara don't throw him into the sun, that's how make Nuclear man 😂 3rd of all, in all honesty, I was not worried 1 bit when Kara got shot mainly for 2 reasons; 1 even tho she was clearly shot by Kryptonite, they were directly near the sun and if I remember correctly, the Sun is what gives them their power, granting them the abilities to heal from critical wounds as well as even more strength, and because 2, kryptonians have invulnerable skin meaning she won't burn up from the sun even if she falls into it, all in all touching scene but No stakes

Kara's lighting's, Kryptonite Saber, Clean animation, Super sayian references!? OMG this episode is AMAZINGGG!! Also Kara's lighting's Red!? Ngl but I SWEAR I thought it was gonna be yellow, not because it would only go good with her hair, but because it in my opinion, it just fits her better, plus we did see kinda of it Start to spark in her fight against Brainiac 2 episodes ago, and since Clark's is blue it would only just made sense for hers to be yellow, hopefully maybe it can like evolve in season 3 or something, don't get wrong I like the Red but in my opinion, it just feels like a missed opportunity, In other News

Eff yeah Brainiac's Dead! Be honest, how many of you actually thought kara was dead after that scene, because my heart immediately stopped after she passed out 😅

Also can we talk about how Amazing Kara's suit looks, like Omg this Has to be one of the best desings I've seen, I just love everything about it from the colors to the boots all the way to especially the Cape, like I just love how it looks like a scarf UwU

*bizarro superman, if there was ever a show that could handle him properly is this

*maybe is time we can start introducng other heroes from the dc universe...? we've teased gotham enough and i know batman is a beaten horse but i wouldnt complain to getting a single episode of this show's interpretation of batman

*failing that wonder woman or flash or martian manhunter will do. or maybe the green lanterns? we've confirmed they exist in this world

*or maybe they can go the really obscure route and put the phantom stranger or the red tornado or something like that

1) Oh easy….its about the ads especially for whatever new movies or video games are coming out that year the Duo focus on. Though every now and then it can be an ad not related to those things which also gets their attention. A prime example being that time Dr Evil took over General Motors.

2) Probably he can take a similar Omni Man direction in trying to find some redemption for the errors of his ways though even Zod might know deep down he might never truly receive that forgiveness from Chris for the years of harsh treatment dished out since basically the latter’s birth. Perhaps uneasy alliances against worse threats including Xa Du and Darkseid between Zod and his son’s adoptive family can occur to which Chris then earns Zod’s respect as a worthy soldier for his own cause (Truth & Justice) which can be a small step on the massive mountain climb that is full reconciliation.

(More below the cut as the answer for Question 3 might be heavy handed)

3) Oh My yes they have. Mainly for Jake, an incident like that at his school occurred during what was an average day. Suddenly during Pre Algebra, loud banging noises sounding like whip cracks were heard down Bludhaven Academy’s hallways so his teacher took the time trying to investigate but thankfully got out of the perpetrator’s way and had his class go into lockdown mode. The issue was that unfortunately, the perpetrator was a recent grad from this school who knew about said lockdown so they weren’t easily fooled, blasting through the door’s locks. The amount of shots fired and bullets spraying all over that classroom can only bang loudly in Jake’s ears as much as his eyes can see one by one some of his classmates try making a run for it either past the attacker or through the window, only to catch their aim and get mercilessly hit by said bullets. Finally, it took a clever distraction from Meredith who risked getting into the aiming sights did Jake finally act, using his acrobatics and a wooden measuring ruler found on the red crimson fluid soaked floors as an impromptu escrima stick to knock the weapon out of the attacker’s hand and knock them out cold, ending the rampage.

In all, 45 total lives, including about 2/3 of Jake’s algebra class, were lost to this incident, and out of those 45, 41 of them were all below the age of 18. Needless to say, Meredith and Jake had to ask extensive permission not to be counted as heroes in this case (in addition to Bruce and Dick lobbying hard with the news media not to reveal any details about the attacker and their background prior to this incident) as that would distract from the real tragedy and the actions needed to prevent such from ever happening again. The hashtag #BludhavenAcademyBrave or #BAB for short trending very quickly the very next day, complimented by Chris and Jake having a blue and white armband with that shortened hashtag as Nightwing and Skybird respectively.

4) Money isn’t always a factor of concern for them since not only are they happy with the lives they do have but there’s also the small elephant in the room that is Mr. Owner of the Third Largest Corporation in the DCU, Gotham’s Prince Playboy Bruce Wayne being their ally and a factor to it. But if they have to earn a million dollars, I can see Chris and Jake attempting a feat that breaks world records of a sort or participate in many Japanese game shows. A popular one in real life that was around in the 80s was called Za Gaman (‘Endurance’) where its contestants would endure some of the nastiest, most punishing and messed up types of challenges imaginable ranging from being tied to a paddle steamer’s engine, dunking back and forth into the water or eating ice cream while buried neck deep in the snow. That I can see the Duo doing for a Million US dollars.

5) Chris and Jake without ever meet each other would be frankly in much more sadder and less fulfilling lives as they would not have as strong of a drive for adventure beyond just doing so due to their respective families and in Jake’s case with other friend and his Big Sis’ friends doing so. It’s likely Jake might’ve quit the hero business altogether even after his powers came in some time later and trying living a normal civilian life while Chris only really goes into hero duties if he was accompanying Jon. So overall, a lot more would change in ways neither one want to really think about

6) Chris: 8 on good days and 9 on days he feels off and needs a hug for comfort. Though he’d only go for it if he’s given a form of permission

Jake: 10 easily. Both Mar’i and him frankly. It’s a family thing, coming from Kory of course XD

Comics this week ?

Action Comics #1060 - You can tell PKJ meant for this plot to run longer and be bigger, and he has to compress it down since he's getting moved. A shame, I hope the Annual manages to give a satisfying ending to his run but I'm expecting it to be rushed given how many plot threads he has to tie up. Zod backup was great, can't wait for the series proper to start next month, I'm happy both Eradicator and Henshaw have been taken off the board again.

Superman: Lost #9 - On one hand I love Priest's Lex. Man was trying to bait Superman into killing him out of sheer spite, keeping the cure for Lois on him so Supes could either find it after killing him and realize he broke his code for nothing, or Supes would accidentally destroy it while beating Lex to death and thus (or so Supes would think) doom Lois as well. I guess my only qualm is that Priest started out teasing some very big risks and ended up playing it safe. Lois didn't die and Clark didn't cheat... unless that pregnant Hope represents a last minute twist, which I expect to be another fakeout.

Danger Street #12 - Solid enough ending I suppose. Don't really have too many thoughts.

Detective Comics #1079 - Should've seen that Catwoman twist coming, I saw it with Snyder Batman in Endgame, but I was surprised and I cheered when V played his hand. V is in his element here with Catwoman and a heist story.

Green Lantern #6 - Xermancio... fuccccckkkkkk this dude's art is on another level. Adams lucked out having him on board.

Batman & Robin #4 - Dropped it. With V's Tec humming along and my surprising enjoyment of Zdarsky Batman, I don't need a third Batbook right now.

Immortal Thor #5 - Finally realized that Thor's portrayal here reminds me of Superman in All-Star. He's incredibly powerful, stronger than he normally is, but he wins the day by using his brain rather than achieving victory through feats of strength.

Blade #6 - Love the portrayal of Dracula here, cool to see Blade get a power up, but oh my God the art here conveys zero sense of movement. For an issue heavily focused on action the filler artist they chose just did not cut it.

Final Flash Update: an actual review

The DCEU has always been very hit or miss for me, but it has a special place in my heart. When Man of Steel came out, my dad was OBSESSED with it (still is), and it became the first superhero movie I ever watched. Despite the mediocre scores internet-wide (and how the terraforming scared the shit out of me as a kid), I cannot help but love that film to death. It really sparked my interest with superheroes and just ‘nerdier’ stuff in general.

While the DCEU opened me up to the whole world of superheroes, it also became part of what made me so weary of comic book movies. While there were good movies like Wonder Woman (2017) and (hot take) Black Adam, and great ones like the Snydercut, there were also huge disappointments that left me feeling pissed off when the theater lights turned back on. It’s not like all of these movies are downright horrible in every way (exception being 2016’s Suicide Squad), but each seemed to have its own form of kryptonite. The Justice League (2017)’s being its lack of character development; Wonder Woman 1984’s forgettable plot; and of course, Batman v. Superman’s Martha scene.

With the DCEU’s track record, the over saturation of superhero media, and with Ezra Miller being… Ezra Miller, my hopes for this movie were extremely low. But I actually left the theater feeling pretty.. decent?

Here are my main takeaways. Spoilers ahead:

Plot + Characters

As of now, I haven’t noticed any critical plot holes, which is pretty great, especially considering it’s a multiverse movie and all. Everything that blew up in Barry’s face was tied up nicely. But I am sorta curious to see how moving the tomato can caused Ben Affleck to become George Clooney.

The time mechanics were also pretty neat, like how a new future creates a new past.

I kinda like Barry a lot. He’s wicked awkward but it’s funny to watch.

Younger Barry too! He was such an airhead in the beginning that I was shocked to find out he was the guy that our Barry kept seeing when he time travelled.

I found Keaton’s Batman entertaining too. But the whole time Keaton didn’t really seem like he was trying to act. He just looked happy to be Batman again, which I can’t blame him for. On that note, I wish Bale’s Batman made a cameo somehow.

I was underwhelmed with the Zod plot. I was ready to watch him totally kick Flash’s ass. I didn’t mind Kara, but again she was a bit underwhelming too.

I got excited when Zod mentioned discovering Clark in his pod somewhere in space. I was like “Oh shit, did they take him in and train him to fight for them?” Seeing an evil Superman would’ve been crazy, but nah, they just killed him instead. Lame-os.

Effects / CGI

Oh man, I did not enjoy some of the choices made here.

First of all, the deep fake cameos. And also, deepfaking people like Adam West and all, who are dead, is a little odd. However Nicholas Cage showing up was very funny.

Then there was the CGI in the Speedverse (?? correct me if that’s the wrong name). It was video-game level. I felt like I was watching a skyrim-inspired acid trip.

Even outside of speedverse, the quality was really spotty.

Action

Oh my god, it’s so refreshing when there’s even the tiniest ounce of creativity in fight scenes (Looking at you, MCU).

Diving deeper into Barry’s powers was cool and seeing him fight with (and then against) himself was neat!

Then there was also pretty standard Batman stuff that I’m a sucker for

NEEDED a better Kara v. Zod fight. I wanted lasers. I wanted them to go to space. ANYTHING

Overall Emotional Reaction

Both Barrys hit hard a few times. The desperation to fix everything. Having to let go of their mom and accept their fate(s?). The scene when he said goodbye to her for the last time was pretty sad.

The themes were simple: accept your past; pain makes us who we are; etc etc. But there’s nothing really wrong with that.

The jokes landed! I laughed with, not at, most things

…Okay, I did laugh out loud at some things, like the deepfakes and when the Barrys phased for the first time.

But yeah, it was really enjoyable to watch. The runtime wasn’t an issue at all. Dull moments were rare (though I didn’t give a single shit about Barry’s dating life at all)

Final Score:

Mini-sode Bonus! Journey Into Mystery #108

Cover Date: September 1964 On-Sale Date: July 2, 1964

Doc once again crosses over to the Marvel Universe at large encountering some familiar compatriots and foes. This time, it wasn't advertised in Doc's own series. Once again he contends with Loki, who nearly kicked his magical butt a few months ago. This time he meets Thor in person instead of just watching him fly by his big, cool window. We get to see Kirby's interpretation of Doc which is better than his previous attempt in some ways and worse in others.

We start with Thor landing in the middle of a street, swinging his magical croquet mallet. Is he threatening all the people around him? Nah, he saw something when he was flying over the city. He bangs his hammer on the ground, sending a shockwave through the city, causing incalculable property damage. All this was to cause a truck to jump up and miss a kid who was running into the street after a ball. Thor then thinks to himself that he will reimburse the city with an emergency Avengers fund. While the level of damage wasn't anything near Superman vs. Zod in Man of Steel, it is probably hundreds of millions even in 1964 dollars. That's some fund Tony set up!

Well that was fun! What's next? Let's fly around some more. As Thor grips the leather thong wrapped around the handle (which we know is missing a tiny little sliver) he gets a message from our favorite magic user. Doc doesn't seem to say anything, but Thor gets the idea and flies to the Sanctum Sanctorum. Inside he finds Doc lying on the floor in one of the many oddly furnished rooms. Fortunately, the cauldron that has been knocked over hasn't set anything on fire. It should be noted that Doc seems more generous with the electric bill when Jack draws him. The Sanctum is much brighter.

Doc explains that he was saving the city from Baron Mordo and the spell left him severely weakened, then passes out. How fortunate that Thor's alter-ego is a practicing surgeon. He calls for an ambulance and within moments Don Blake has his hands in Doc Strange's guts, with a whole bunch of med students looking on. Bad enough that Dr. Don needs to draw an his Thor knowledge to fix Strange, suddenly Dad is on the mental phone. It's the sixties so Android Auto sending an automatic response isn't around yet. "Damn it dad! You've got the worst timing!"

Odin isn't known for being entirely rational and patient. He's literally ready to start a war because his son hasn't immediately answered him. Talk about helicopter parenting. Odin's anger causes a huge storm over the city which knocks out the power while Dr. Don is putting Dr. Strange's internal organs back together. Odin mounts a winged stallion and splits from Asgard, followed by a host of warriors. Where's Sleipnir, Odin's usual eight-legged horse? In the shop, perhaps? Loki uses the melee to slip away from Asgard himself in the form of a bee. Heimdall must have a thing for bees.

Back on Midgard* (*Midgard=Earth) Dr. Don speaks with the patient he just saved. Doc thanks him and basically says "I owe you a favor." Dr. Don says saving lives is its own reward, but also says "I'll collect on that favor." Dr. Don then heads out to his office to check up on the patients he sometimes manages to see in-between his bouts of world-saving as Thor. He's got a new one, an old dude suspiciously dressed in a green suit. He even has a can that closely resembles Dr. Don's. With a little presto change-o, the old dude switches canes and throws one out the window. Doc's not entirely up on the con and invites the dude into an examination room. The old dude says he feels better already and reveals himself to be Loki, wearing his typical horny costume with the same green as the suit. Dr. Don taps his cane but nothing happens. "Oh, dear! What will I do?" Loki then runs away, kidnaping Jane Foster as he leaves.

Dr. Don attempts to contact Odin, but the halls of Asgard are empty. Apparently this is location based telepathy. "Crud! I'm stuck in this lame body for eternity!" He runs back to the hospital and rushes into Dr. Strange's room. "I know you only offered a few minutes ago, but I really need that favor now!" The next panel shows Doc head on. And what a head it is! It looks like an upside-down triangle. The Munsters were still over two months away so I'm not sure what Kirby was thinking here!

Doc looses his ectoplasmic self and ghost Doc goes a-huntin'! A side note here: I think this is the first time we see Doc out of costume. He's wearing a fetching robe that looks like it was modeled on a smoking jacket. Ghost Doc is wearing a ghost version of the robe, so it's established that your astral self wears whatever clothes your physical body wears. Doc finds the walking stick being used by a couple hobos as a fishing rod. Dr. Don shows up and Doc's ghost scares the bejesus out of the hobos so Dr. Don can reclaim his stick. Doc goes home to his body and Dr. Don can finally turn into Thor!

Meanwhile, Odin has softened up in regards to his offspring and tries to contact Thor. Thor is understandably angry with dad. Thor, not exactly a model of patience himself, tells dad to sod off and flies on. The Avengers show up. "Hey Thor, we saw you flying by and we have nothing to do at the moment in this crime-riddled city. Can we help?" Thor replies "No dudes and that one lady dude! I gotta do this one myself!" Thor flies off and now his mallet is an immortal detector. He zeroes in on Loki. On the way he makes mental contact with Doc. "He Doc! I need another favor. The chick I love, but no one else can stand is in danger. Protect her!" Not even a please!

Thor and Loki engage in a protracted battle. Realizing that they're at a stalemate, Loki is like "The heck with this. I'm just gonna kill Jane. Nobody but you likes her anyway" and sends a magical bolt across the dimensions. But, thanks to Doc, it's blocked. Loki lets up on Jane and the battle with Thor continues. Finally Thor gets the upper hand and makes Loki return Jane. Loki is now raging and about to unleash hell on Thor. Will he succeed? We'll never know. Just in time, Odin scoops up Loki and brings him back to Asgard. Odin says he is proud of Thor and Thor apologizes for being a bit of a jerk earlier. Odin thinks to himself that Thor can never be permitted to marry Jane. See? no one else likes her.

It's not Doc's series so he isn't the star, but he is integral to the plot and Thor wouldn't have triumphed without his assistance. And it's not something any hero could do. Doc is the only one who could have helped Thor. Doc doesn't have much a personality here. He's just dutiful. Except for the weird shape of his head, Kirby's rendition has improved from his Fantastic Four #27 attempt. It doesn't advance Doc's mythos, but it isn't meant to. It would have been nice if this had been coordinated with Ditko who could have included a "Mordo attacks NYC" story in his own magazine to dovetail into this. It sounds more ambitious than anything we've seen to date. It was a fun interlude.

Attempting to catch up on as many comics as possible before Absolute Power starts so I read all of Kneel Before Zod yesterday and man, idk. One of the things I have really liked about the Zods since Rebirth is their moral greyness. I like that, though it meant no Chris, Dru and Ursa loved and cared about Lor. I liked how Clark had to grapple with his understanding of them and come to a point where he could perhaps not trust them but leave them to their own devices. Kneel Before Zod... okay my idea for a batman v superman movie rewrite i just spent a shower’s worth of time thinking about, indirectly inspired by @asilentguardian posts about his rewatch. also note i havent seen bvs probably since it came out and barely remember ANYTHING about it let’s go

so idc about plot someone else can worry about it lets focus on the THEMES. the big, overall message we explore in this movie is the parent/child relationship and how that affects people, particularly superheroes. the specific theme we want the movie to convey is that the reason superheroes fight and can provide hope for people is because of the loved ones in their life.

so we start with that scene of batfleck in metropolis as its being destroyed. he’s driving through downtown and we see that he keeps trying to call someone but it keeps going to voicemail. “this is dick grayson, i can’t answer the phone right now-” bruce hangs up, tries again, gets voicemail again, etc. finally he’s forced to abandon his car and trek through the wreckage on foot. so he’s running towards the center of the destruction, a big plume cloud engulfs him, he’s looking around, BAM rans smack into a preteen. it’s jason. jason tells him dick told him to find bruce, but dick stayed back to help. when they reach where dick is (a library or museum??) bruce and jason get there just in time to watch dick drop off a kid, run back into the building, and watch the building fall on top of dick. boom, end scene.

now we’re back in the present, bruce has clearly lost it. very aggressive/willing to torture people, but hasn’t killed. alfred tells him off about it, says he’s going too far, tells bruce he still has another son, in case bruce has forgotten. as soon as alfred leaves we get a scene of bruce destroying some shit.

idk wtf clark was doing in this movie so let’s give him more or keep his scenes with his mom where he bonds with his mom and talks about his dad or whatever idk. clark’s whole thing with his parents ties in nicely with the theme so we don’t really need to change anything apart from just digging into those more. maybe dealing with his decision to kill zod to juxtapose with bruce’s struggle to keep himself from killing? clark is able to kill zod to protect his family bcus zod was a threat that would not be able to be contained with clark’s resources, but clark is not the type of man who would keep killing for the sake of killing. it was a stressful moment in his life but clark knows not to go over the edge. bruce’s struggle is that he knows if he kill a criminal, he won’t be able to stop.

lex luthor. i kind of liked that they made an Artistic Choice for lex luthor bcus i get it. the general version of lex luthor is like. evil billionaire which doesn’t give him a lot of depth so we’ve got to do something with him for this movie. so what we do with lex’s backstory is that we keep the abusive father angle, so what lex would do, at night, is that he would pray for god/anyone to save him or grant him powers so he can save himself. i THINK there are some continuities where lex and clark went to high school together so we do that. as an adult, lex figures out who clark is and he gets upset specifically at clark because since clark has super awesome hearing, he would have been able to hear lex begging for help as a kid, but clark never did anything. personal grudge there.

so we’re ramping up to the actual fight. i don’t remember what lex’s plan was so we can keep it or rewrite however we wish. bruce is ramping up to kill supes bcus supes killed his kid, supes is ramping up to try and stop batman bcus batman is acting fucking nuts. lex is drinking champagne on a yacht, i guess.

bruce is going back and forth on whether to kill superman, alfred gives him another talk. bruce stares at his little batch of kryptonite. he’s about to lock it up, turn away from his quest when boom, flashback.

this was from right before the metropolis fight. bruce is about to enter the room for his board meeting, but dick stops to talk. jason is chilling nearby playing minecraft on his phone you’ve seen kids. dick and bruce scene where we get the pure essence of bruce and dick’s relationship. they’ve clearly been fighting for a while and their relationship is tense but they both want to work on it and they both clearly love each other a lot. dick says he’s gonna take jason to go bond with him, then beat, dick clearly thinking of something, then dick gives bruce a hug and calls him dad.

closeup on bruce’s reaction, clearly shocked and overwhelmed. choked up but trying to hide it, he says bye to dick, gives jason a hair ruffle. goes into his meeting.

So when I was the theater watching Man of Steel and saw the part where Jonathan Kent said Clark should have let a bus full of kids die to keep his secret I saw red, when later Superman doesn’t even try to get Zod to leave the city during their fight and then kills him I was so mad I wanted to walk out and I still get mad thinking about it. When I heard that they had Batman using guns in BvS I felt that same anger all over again. All this to say I understand loving a property and really have it mean something to you and then feeling angry/betrayed at how that gets adapted. But you know who I never got angry with? The actors! They aren’t the ones making these choices they are doing a job and even if they liked the writing it’s still not their fault because they don’t make those decisions

So fuck Valdo ‘you’ll regret leaving me someday’ Marx. He could suck a thousand dicks and die of apoplexy. Jaskier doesn’t miss him. But he doesn’t like the thought of seeing him again, either. Things between them hadn’t exactly ended...well. The whole relationship wasn’t exactly healthy all things considered.

So when the bathroom door swings quietly open and Geralt pokes his silvery head in, eyes apologetic and arms full of - are those flowers? - Jaskier is all smiles. “Hello, love.”

“I thought you’d still be at school,” the Witcher ducks his head. “I was going to cook.”

Jaskier hums and lets his head drop back against the smooth, warm edge of the porcelain tub. “I have that conference coming up so I came home early to work on editing my paper.”

“Oh. Worried about Valdo again?”

“Can you smell the anxiety with your crazy sensitive Witcher nose?”

“It’s hard to be around someone like that. Someone you used to love who hurt you,” Geralt frowns and takes a seat on the edge of the tub, ignoring his boyfriend’s question completely. Jaskier is very careful not to get Geralt’s jeans wet as he sits up a little straighter. The Witcher’s hand goes to rub at the knot in his shoulder and the professor melts under the touch. “Here, I can fix it.”

Before Jaskier can tell the larger man no, Geralt is pulling off his brown leather jacket and tossing it onto the floor. He kicks off his boots, removes his shirt and then, otherwise totally clothed, slips into the tub atop Jaskier. The Witcher presses his warmth and weight down against his slender boyfriend, whose panic attacks are so rare nowadays that he’d almost forgotten how to avoid one. He kisses the younger man’s forehead, then both of his cheeks, and finally his mouth.

Jaskier’s calloused fingertips trace patterns across the naked skin of his back and Geralt hums into another gentle kiss. “Count for me.”

“Alright. I can see the mirror, the flowers in your bag, my ADHD medication, and...your eyes.”

“Now the next.”

“I can smell lavender, chamomile, and...did you buy me eclairs!?”

“I did. C’mon babe, one more.”

“Alright. I can feel your skin. And your hair is tickling the left side of my neck.”

“Good.”

“Thank you,” the professor smiles up. “It’s been awhile since we’ve had to do that.”

“I love you, bard.”

“And I love you, my big, scary Witcher. You should come to the conference with me and play bodyguard, Geralt. I think you’d get a kick out of making fun of other equally silly academics.”

“Alright.”

“Really? You’d do that for me?”

“Will you feel safer if I’m there?” Geralt asks. His tone is so genuine and his gaze is so soft that Jaskier nearly bursts into tears of happiness. He nods and feels his boyfriend press yet another kiss to his forehead. “Then I’ll sit through every single weird lecture, right by your side.”

“I love you so much, Geralt.”

“Hmm,” the Witcher sinks lower into the water, closer to Jaskier. “I’m a very lucky man, then.”

NON-SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW STUFF, BUT STILL SUPERGIRL-RELATED BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT WE’RE HERE FOR. I ASSUME.

World of Krypton - Six issue limited series from Venditti and Oeming; Venditti wrote a Supergirl annual fairly recently, and Oeming is probably best known for his work on Bendis’ Powers series. The book will focus on the time period right before Krypton’s destruction, so you get Jor-El! Dru-Zod! A young Kara Zor-El! AND PUPPY KRYPTO. As mentioned in a prior post, I’m just happy that DC is actually doing Super-related stuff, since so much of their line is currently mired in Bat books.

Dark Knights of Steel #3 - There was much hubbub last month when Taylor and Co. revealed the cover to issue two--was that blonde woman next to Clark Kara?!?!?!?! If the new cover to issue 3 is anything to go by--yeah. Kara’s probably in this. And on the covers. So, maybe she’ll have a prominent role? Guess we’ll see. Regardless, looking forward to all the cool fantasy designs from Putri.

Honorable, Non-Supergirl Mentions: Steph, Cass, and Babs are together again in a new Batgirls book! Power-Girl is gonna be in a Heroes-For-Hire type title! The Justice League is gonna fight the Legion of Superheroes, maybe? Action Comics will presumably continue to kick butt! And oh man, Nightwing is gonna do a ‘De Luca effect’ issue; basically, no panels, it’s all one single, continuous image, for twenty-two pages.

SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW STUFF

So, not entirely sure why--maybe it’s an end of year/holidays timing situation, but either way, we’ve got solicits for both issue 6 and 7. 

And boy, oh boy. There is some STUFF.

Covers first. Because of course.

I’d include the variant covers as well, but worry the post would get really long and unwieldy, so I’ll just note that Steve Rude has a variant out for issue 6, and Nicola Scott is handling the variant for 7. Both are lovely.

Obviously, I love both of the main covers, but if forced to choose? That issue 6 cover is a winner.

Evely doing Kryptonian stuff? HECK YEAH!

Also I wonder if that’s Krypton exploding behind Zor and Alura; if so, that’s a very cool twist on the usual planet-destruction image you tend to see in Super comics! The shapes and colors are neat. 

Kara looks like, resigned to her fate. ‘Come at me, bro. Might as well.’ XD

The text for six: The traumatic secrets of Supergirl’s past are revealed as our heroine races to the edge of the universe to escape Krem and his latest weapon! The murderer of young Ruthye’s father has gotten his hands on a Mordru globe and plans to use it to make our hero disappear forever. Can she save herself and the young girl’s future in the process? She’ll need the help of her trusty steed, Comet the Superhorse!

The text for seven: It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for…the capture of Krem! With the fugitive in custody, Supergirl must now deal with his allies, the ungodly Brigands! To stop them once and for all, she must leave Ruthye behind with the man who killed her beloved father. Can she trust the young girl to let the villain of our story live long enough to stand trial? Or is this the tragic end of his story and ours?

SO OBVIOUSLY I’M HORRIFIED AND THRILLED BY THE RETURN OF COMET IN REGULAR DC COMICS CONTINUITY.

But also like yes, YES, bring on that Argo City trauma.

And a MORDRU GLOBE?!??!??! TOM KING PULLIN’ OUT SOME LEGION LORE FOR THIS?!?!?!?!?! 

NIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE. 

Related, I suppose: That pic Evely posted recently of Kara (I assume it’s Kara) featured what looked to me like slightly shorter hair--it was similar to the way she drew Kara in Sugar and Spike, which featured a younger, distinctly Silver Age Supergirl.

And now seeing similar shoulder chevrons on Zor and Alura, that’s got me thinkin’ this is Argo Kara.

As always, love these moments of impossibly gentle and caring Kara.

This is a pretty brutal book, as we’ve seen in the previous issue, as well as these very preview pages, but King offsets all that brutality with these beautiful little moments of Kara helping people. Not just faceless crowds, either! But individuals. 

It’s good.
