Poly!plastics x Skater!reader
While skating reader ended up breaking their wrist doing some dumbass trick and comes to school with a cast, and the plastics are integrating reader (mostly Regina and Gretchen), mf just says “oh yea i broke my wrist doing a trick” like it’s the calmest thing in the world 💀
What The Fuck
|| poly!plastics x nonbinary!skater!reader
|| Warnings; injured reader, swearing, Regina pissed at reader, short drabble
|| Summary; when reader shows up to school with an injury, the girls are concerned. More so than reader, it seems.
Requests closed!

Finished; November 19th

It happened so fast you barely had time to react. You were out skating. Just rolling down the street on your skateboard, popping tricks and testing out various things. As your board landed, you caught a pebble the wrong way and it suddenly stopped. Causing you to go flying forwards. Of course, you just had to land right on your wrist. Pain immediately shot through your body. An almost whimper like sound escaping your lips. Fuck. That's definitely broken.
The following day, you walked into school with a cast around your wrist. People glanced at you and gave you strange looks. Wondering what could have happened to you. They knew who you were. How couldn't they? You were part of the school's infamous poly group with the plastics. Everyone knew you. It was hard not to.
You made your way to your locker, struggling a bit with your lock as you could only use one hand. Once it was opened, you set your bag inside and got out whatever books you needed. Just as the plastics walked over to you. Gretchen was the first one you heard.
"Oh my God!!" Gretchen's voice rang out throughout the hall, startling Karen who looked at her. Confusion and concern on her face," Y/N, what happened to your wrist?!" She ran over to inspect you. Quickly followed by Regina and Karen.
"Seriously, what dumbass stunt did you pull this time?" Regina asked, eyes looking over your cast before landing on you. You glanced at it, then at them.
"Oh. Yeah. I broke my wrist doing a trick," you replied with a shrug. A shrug. You just... shrugged it off? Gretchen was gonna lose it but Regina got it first.
"I'm sorry, what the fuck?" She stared at you. Mixes of concern and anger at your chillness about it in her eyes. You shrugged again. Karen seemed to have finally caught up with what was happening, because she suddenly gasped and looked at your cast.
"Can I colour it?!" Karen beamed, you couldn't help but laugh and dug in your locker for your markers.
"Sure, baby." Once you got them, you handed them to her and the three of you made your way to class. Not before you closed up your locker though, obviously. Karen drew as you walked, she was actually a very good artist. You couldn't help but watch. Regina was still annoyed at you, sending you glares and giving silent treatment. How were you so calm about a broken wrist? Why didn't you tell them? She was mostly upset you never bothered to say anything last night and just let them find out. Cause what the fuck.
Gretchen noticed you carrying your books and immediately took them from you," let me get these. You're hurt."
"I'm hurt but not helpless, Gretchen." You sighed, but the determination and seriousness in her eyes kept you from arguing further. She carried your books, Karen decorated your cast and Regina seethed in silence. However she would yell at you more later, when they had the time. You were saved by the bell.

Stardew valley bachelors (and krobus and the wizard) witnessing the farmer chug multiple jars of mayonnaise. Just really slinging it back.
Okay ngl I never did this till right now and I got everybody's reactions so this is based on the responses my farmer got after doing this
Spoilers: they've all known my farmer for about 7 years so it's nothing too shocking to them,,,but it's still highly questionable lmao
.....
Shane
"Umm..."
For years, him and Pam were beer addicts...and now comes along you, the new farmer who's a very...different kind of addict.
An addict to mayonnaise, that is.
For years, people have been judging him for his habit, so it seems fair that he should be allowed to judge you 100% for having the weirdest fucking habit in the valley.
He started opening up to you (in his 2 heart event) and you're just sitting next to him, drinking mayonnaise to wash out the beer he offered you.
Only after you two get closer does he decide "well shit, they're weird..but they're also one of the few who care about me,,,"
And he eventually lets go of it altogether.
But he'll still tease you about your mayo addiction from time to time.
"What're you gonna put in the potluck this year? Gold star mayo? Or did you already eat it on the way here?"
"Oh shut up."
"Heh heh."
Sam
"Gross!"
Considering it's one of his hated gifts, this shouldn't come as a surprise to you.
But the way you've absolutely freaked him out by drinking it in front of him (and subsequently making him miss his kickflip) was hilarious.
"That's what you get for skating on other people's property." You shook your head, smirking as you bring out another jar. "You think Jodi needs some for later? Or should I just drink it in front of her, too?"
"NO! Stop. Please don't do that." Sam hisses. "One, she might uninvite you from future family dinners. And two, she'll think it's one of those weird trends and blame me for it!"
"A trend..hm? Doesn't sound like a bad idea. This town could use one more tradition." You laugh, consuming the jar and not missing the look of horror on his face.
"A-And I thought Abigail eating rocks was nuts...you two would be great friends.."
Harvey
"Umm..."
While he's well aware of the many health benefits to mayonnaise, he wonders if you know that they're best as a condiment....not a beverage you can just sling back.
"But you told me to lay off the Joja Colas, doctor," you pointed out to him. "You're telling me those are a healthier alternative to this?"
"No, that's not what I'm saying at all." He huffs. "It's just..erm..I've never met someone who enjoyed mayonnaise by itself..it sounds-"
"Disgusting?"
"N-No! I didn't mean it like-"
"I'm kidding, Harvey." You laugh a little, amused by his nervousness. "You know any side effects to drinking large quantities of mayo?"
"..none in particular, but that doesn't mean you should-"
"Then if I start feeling anything different, I'll let you know. Thank you." With a wink, you pull out some dinosaur mayo and drink it on your way out of the clinic...with poor Harvey wondering wtf that was.
Regular mayo was fine, but that green icky-looking mayo...had him gravely concerned over what you were doing to your body.
Elliot
"Why?!"
You thought you were being subtle, drinking a little bit of mayo while hanging out at his beachside cabin.
But nope.
You've absolutely horrified this man. Traumatized, even.
It's almost as bad as the time you left a super cucumber on his doorstep, and the next day he sent you a letter demanding to know who made you play this "cruel prank" on him.
In reality, you thought it'd be a nice gift and he'd make something poetic out of a rare sea creature you fished up.
Apparently not and that's when you quickly learned it's a hated one.
"Oh don't be so dramatic," you shake your head. "It's easier to carry than some full course meal."
"But you could have any other food....why that?" Elliot asks, now genuinely curious about what goes on in your mind to think mayo is a suitable choice in food.
You have no explanation though other than "it's most convenient for me and I like the taste".
So he leaves it alone but....maybe it's better not to drink it around him without warning (or drink it when he's buzzed and he may not remember you doing that).
Sebastian
"Umm..."
And here he was, on Ginger Island, hoping to get a brief vacation away from the valley and all its weirdness.
Yet you came along to visit and check on your beach farmhouse--bringing tons of mayo jars with you.
You got thirsty while talking to Seb in the hot sun, and instinctively began chugging the first thing you opened out of your bag.
You don't even realize what you've done until he gives you the strangest look ever.
"Have you always liked drinking mayo...like that?" He raises an eyebrow.
"Um..not since moving into the valley and learning how to make it." You shrugged, smiling sheepishly as you brought out another jar. This time a green color.
"What's that one?"
"Oh! Dinosaur mayo. It's a lot thicker and kinda tastes like a kale drink-"
"I'm sorry, there's dinosaurs in the mines?"
Alex
"Umm..."
"What?" You shoot him a defensive look, cradling the half-empty jar like it's your baby. "You've eaten every raw egg I give you, and I never judge."
"But..that's a little different, isn't it?" He chuckles nervously. "Eggs are great for protein! Drinking straight mayo is...erm....are there any benefits..?"
"It's easy to make with all the eggs in my coop, and um..it keeps my energy up so I don't pass out."
It's an awkward explanation, considering you simply drink mayonnaise for the hell of it and didn't think too much about the "health benefits".
But Alex completely agrees with you, not making any further comments on it in the future.
Although how he's eaten dozen of raw eggs without getting some kind of salmonella poisoning is beyond both him and you.
Perhaps you're both a little bit strange, but he eventually came to accept that about himself.
Wizard
"Umm..."
From the moment you met him and obtained forest magic, Rasmodius knew there was something peculiar about you.
From gleefully retrieving ectoplasm and prismatic jelly for his studies to assisting him in getting the dark talisman back from his ex-wife's home, he's come to trust you as a potential apprentice.
So to drink mayonnaise while looking through his catalogue of expensive magical architecture had him....a bit confused.
"What?" You look at the man standing by the bubbling green pot, his eyebrow raised in question. "C'mon, surely this can't be the strangest thing you've seen."
"No, whatever keeps your spirit and energy nourished is fine and all. But..mayonnaise seems most unconventional. That's all I'm saying. Now I must focus.."
And that's all he says about the matter, not really caring too much.
You're grateful he didn't overreact.
Krobus
"........"
"You're not gonna say anything?"
"About what?"
"About..y'know..me drinking mayonnaise?"
"Why would I? You gift me void mayonnaise. I eat it and use it as a moisturizer all the time!"
Finally, somebody who finds your habit relatively normal---but the only downside is that somebody isn't human.
Makes you often question if you're really human yourself.
It never bothers Krobus whenever you need to sling back a jar of mayonnaise and pull out another one when you return from the mutant bug lair or hike through Cindersap Forest to reach the sewers.
He thinks it's just a normal thing humans do, but when you mention how it's very much not normal in your "culture"..he thinks THEY are weird for not accepting your tastes.
Welp, at least he supports your weird yet harmless habit.
You did try void mayo once and nearly keeled over, so you stick to regular/duck/dino mayo from thereon.

You're too sweet for a monster like me (part 2)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Vendetta Leon × Fem reader
Tags: Mentions of depression, overall fluff maybe a bit angsty, Ice skating, Leon being agile af to do that in his first try, a bit inaccurate related to ice skating but spare me🙏 (If you find some mistakes please spare me😭 english is not my native language)
Part 1 of YTS
A/N: The first part did better than I expected, so here's the second part. I have to stop going on hiatus lol. Also, I have never ice skated, though I know rollerblading ☝🤓
Also there are some words in pink and blue, pink are the reader's thoughts, while blue are Leon's thoughts.
Edit: Christmas themed dividers from @/anitalenia
WC: 2.6K
Tumblr media
You quietly sigh, rubbing his back while hugging him, trying to make him feel better about himself. In all seriousness you can’t bear to see him like this–Wasting away and giving up.
He can't give up on himself. You can't let that happen.
You turn his face so you can look at him properly and give a soft smile. “Why don't we go out somewhere? It's been a long time since we had a date and Christmas is around the corner. Plus…I think we need a change of scenery. Let's go to a park.”
Leon looked at you a bit surprised and then down at the half empty glass of whiskey, debating with himself if he wanted to go outside.
But you are having none of it. You weren't going to let him stay here and get more depressed than ever. A change of scenery is what you both need.
You give him your best sweet puppy, mustering up in the moment. You add a small pout and make your eyes look sad and say softly. “Please.”
Leon groans immediately, pinching the bridge of his nose when he sees that look—the famous puppy eyes you always use to get your work done every time. “That's cheating.” he says
He never understood why it works. Like he's a grown ass man who has killed dozens of zombies and what not. He should be immune. But, apparently, military life didn't build him for these kinds of attacks.
You innocently smile and say. “What? I'm just politely asking.”
Leon snorts. “Uh huh…right. Your ‘polite asking’ uses emotional blackmail.”
You gasped dramatically, bringing a hand on your chest. “Little ol’ me? Blackmail? Heavy accusations, Mr. Kennedy.”
Leon rolled his eyes, a small smirk tugging at his lips and pulled you in his lap. “Right. You're so innocent.”
You grin and playfully roll your eyes at him. “Of course I'm innocent.”
Leon snorts but doesn't say anything.
You grip his shoulders and shake him lightly. “Oh come on… let's go outside. Look, it's almost Christmas, so there will be pretty decorations. Don't they have that ice rink too? Come on…it’ll be funny kids and their parents falling flat on their faces. ”
You hear him chuckling a bit at your words, his lips curling into a smile and…finally it feels like that the man you knew is in front of you again. Life slowly returning to him…
Leon smirks and says. “Sounds kinda harsh, you know. What did the kids do?”
You roll your eyes. “That's not the point. Can we pleasssseee go?”
Leon sighs and says. “Fine. Fine. But we're just gonna walk around the park…and no ice skating.”
Like hell you guys won't go ice skating.
Leon sees the immediate change in your expression, going from pleading like a puppy to almost elated and he couldn't help but chuckle.
Somehow you were the only one who could bring this side of him no matter how far he was gone. He had always wondered ‘why?’ part of it. But it's probably useless to ask that question by now.
You immediately get up from his lap and take his hand and start tugging him towards the bedroom. “Good, let's get dressed then.”
Tumblr media
You both are bundled in warm clothes, walking towards the park hand in hand.
Leon looked down at you, taking in your eager expression to get to the park. You looked adorable–like a kitten. No, literally, you were wearing that cute little pink beanie with kitten ears. That beanie always made him smile no matter what, it looked so childish but suits you perfectly.
He gently flicks at one of the ears and smiles to himself. Doing it again and again till you look up at him with a narrowed-eyed expression and say. “Do it again and I will make you wear this.”
Leon grins to himself, feeling satisfied. He looks ahead, holding your hand tighter and walking towards the park. “Nope, I'm good.”
Soon, you both find yourselves walking in the park, taking in the lively scenery with each other.
People of all ages walking around, kids laughing and playing with their parents or grandparents. It was a bit crowded but it's manageable.
You look up at him with a smile. “This is nice right.”
He nods but doesn't say anything, looking around the snow and decorations, the hustle bustle of people distracts his mind a bit. Maybe this was a good idea. He admits he wouldn't have thought of going to a damn park in the middle of a depressive episode.
You notice his shoulders relaxing, and his facial expressions easing up a bit. Mentally, you pat yourself on the back for the first step to make him feel like his old self again.
You squeezed his hand to get his attention. “Do you like snow?”
Leon blinks then looks down at you. “Oh..uhh… I don't know.” He never really thought about mundane things like this, never had time to do that. Maybe when he was a kid? Probably.
He shrugs. “Eh, never gave it much thought, but if snow gets in between my missions and delays it then maybe? But I'm also a bit frustrated then. So, mixed feelings.”
There were times when his missions got delayed because snow had blocked some crucial areas. He used to be a bit relieved when that used to happen, as it was rare for him to catch a breath but also a bit frustrated that he probably won't be able put an end to the mission on time.
You snort and say. “Do you always think like that? Comparing everything to how it would help in a mission? Doesn't it get exhausting?”
He looks at you with a small frown, a small huff leaving his lips. Well it was exhausting but he's not gonna tell her that. He doesn’t like being called out like this and definitely not by his own damn girlfriend. “Try having a world saving job, then we'll talk, sweetheart.”
You chuckle, knowing he was a bit pissed. “What do you mean? Are you implying that I don't have one?”
Leon raises an eyebrow and scoffs. “Do you?”
You smirk and nudge him. “Going on dates, being with you is a pretty important world saving job, my darlingggg.” sweetening up your voice some more in the end and batting your eyelashes at him.
He rolls his eyes and laughs. God you were so cheesy. He looked down at you with a smile and says. “Yeah, you right. Pretty important job. But I pay you enough cuddles and kisses for it.”
You smile, leaning close and kiss his cheek. “That you do. Here's your payback too.” You definitely see him blushing after that. No matter how much he denies it, it never gets old to see him look away, trying to stifle the wide grin threatening to take over his face. It was cute.
Tumblr media
You both reach the makeshift ice rink, Looking around seeing little kids trying to skate with the help of their parents. Falling on their faces but getting up with a big smile on their face and some cried, but most of them were enjoying themselves.
“Jeez, I thought you knew how to stand straight.” he grumbles a bit before holding your waist with both hands to help you balance.
You were clutching his shoulders, desperately trying not to fall. “I'm trying my best okay?! I didn't know ice was this slippery, it's my first ti- Ah!” You slip again, nearly pulling him down with you, but his grip on you was strong enough for you to not fall on your butt.
He grunts, before wrapping his arm around your waist pulling you against his body. “Don't worry, darling, I got you.”
You cling to him like a baby who doesn't know how to walk, falling again and again before you could even take one step. Don't let me fall, okay?”
He rubs your back, keeping your face buried in his chest. “I have your back, sweetheart.”
Your heartbeat slowly returned to normal, closing your eyes for a moment. “I don't think I can do it, this was a bad idea.”
Leon looks at you, seeing you grumbling & pouting from disappointment. His heart melts from seeing his sunshine upset. He kisses your forehead and smiles. “No, no, no this was a wonderful idea, okay? It's fine you can do it, I'm right here I won't let you fall. Look, see it's my first time too alright. If I can do it then you can too.”
Oh yeah, it was his first time ice skating too and he's doing ten times better than you.
You look up at him from his chest and narrow your eyes. “How are you not falling on your ass like me?”
He chuckled. “What? You want both of us to land in a hospital?”
You rolled your eyes and glared at him light-heartedly. “Nooo but it makes me suspicious. Did you used to do this with your exes?”
Leon burst into a laugh. “Sweetheart, you're like the only stable relationship I ever had. Plus, this is improvising.” He kisses your cheek. “Now come on, I know you can do it.” Giving you a final pat on the back before pulling back.
He had a tight grip as you slowly stood up straight, balancing yourself with his help. You breathe a sigh of relief. “Okay… What do I do now?”
He tilts your chin with his finger, making you look in his blue eyes. “Breathe, you can do it. Your legs are strong enough to skate, don't stand too rigid or you'll fall.”
Slowly, you feel his words empowering you, helping you be more sure of yourself. You feel more confident now, your legs gaining the strength and flexibility needed for ice skating.
Leon smiles seeing you grow more comfortable, his grip then shifts from your waist to both of your hands. “See you're doing it…Good job.”
You look up at him and say. “Yeah but I doubt I will be able to do more than this.”
He chuckles. “Don't worry, you have me…Now just believe in yourself and in me, when I said I won't let you fall I won't. Now, slowly take the first step.” He slowly starts to skate with your hands in his.
Your legs are a bit wobbly at first but you do it, looking in his eyes for reassurance and finding nothing but pure love and encouragement in his eyes.
He slowly nods and smiles at you. “Good… just keep it going.”
Slowly, you start to grow more confident in your footing and follow his steps efficiently. You were still a bit nervous and there were small bumps here and there but you had gotten the hang of it by now.
Leon slowly starts to skate a bit faster, feeling your hand gripping his tightly whenever he does. But he simply squeezes your hand & passes a smile.
Slowly, you both fall into a comfortable pace as you skate together. You grew more confident and laugh softly. “This is great!”
Leon just had a smile of his own watching you laugh and skate with him. It was as if nothing else mattered in this moment, except the two of you. He quietly savored this rare moment of tranquility and peace.
Tumblr media
You were sitting on the bench, watching the decorated Christmas tree with lights and ornaments in front of you. Leon said he had something to take care of, so you were waiting for him to come back.
After a few moments, he came back and sat down next to you quietly, watching the tree lights twinkle in front of him with you. He wrapped an arm around you, pulling you close to him.
You shift closer to him and rest your head on shoulder. “Everything alright?”
He slowly nods, kissing your forehead. “Never been more alright than this.” He rubs your sides and continues. “Thank you for today. I really needed this date.”
You smiled up at him. “You're welcome. Although, a part of me did think you were starting to regret it considering how much of a wreck I was at Ice skating.”
You feel his chest rumble as he laughs. “You kidding me? That was the best part!”
You raise an eyebrow and huff, pretending to be mad. “Are you saying, me making a fool out of myself was the best part?”
He was still shamelessly smiling, not regretting anything he said. “Yes, but I also liked the part when I helped you skate.”
You roll your eyes and shake your head. “Fair enough.”
He softly sighed, resting his chin on top of your head. These were the moments that reminds him what he was truly fighting for. He was fighting for moments when you both hugged, kissed, cuddled, roasting each other for fun or when you both were simply together and talked just about anything.
He was fighting for you.
He was fighting to protect that precious smile of yours, to keep that sweet innocence of yours safe from the ugly horrors of the world. And if protecting it meant that he had to be a pawn in bigger scheme of things or that he had to be a monster to fight those who created monstrosity to wreck havoc. He was okay with fighting all of it.
As long as you were safe and sound, he was ready to fight anything that threatened your peace. And he wasn't someone who would go down easily without a fight. Your love made him the bravest soldier.
He blinks, as his train of thoughts stopped when he felt you nudging him. He looked down at you. “Hmm?”
You shrugged. “You want to go home now? It's getting a bit late.”
He paused then smiles. “Actually, there was something.”
You looked at him puzzled. “What is it?”
He smirks, then takes out the small mistletoe from his coat pocket he brought earlier and raised it above their heads and playfully said. “Oh my my, who could have hanged this mistletoe here of all places?”
You could barely contain your grin and continue the ruse. “Hmm…Who could it truly be, Do you know?”
Leon shakes his head, smirking at you while still holding the mistletoe above their heads. “No, but it seems like fate, no? It appeared all of a sudden and that too just for us. How strange…Well anyways it seems like we have to do the tradition now.”
You roll your eyes at him your smile barely contained. “Uh huh. Right. The tradition.” He was so smug, it was taking everything not to laugh in his face.
He grins, seeing you try to control yourself and pulls you closer to his body. “Mmm, that's what the traditions are about after all.” His voice lowering and getting sultry.
Your breathing quickened as his other hand brushes some hair out of your face, his thumb gently caressing your bottom lip. Tilting your face towards him. You give him a smile and softly whisper. “Well then, we have to do it. What are you waiting for?”
He smiled and leaned closer. “To hear that.” And gently presses his lips close to yours, kissing you softly. And it's like the world around you both fades once again. You cup his face and kiss him back, slowly deepening the kiss. He wrapped his arms around you holding you gently in his embrace as he pours all the love he has to give you.
Everything that led upto this moment was all worth it to him.

Ch 1: Iron Bonds
Tumblr media
Carbon Memory
The Chemistry Club frequently served as your refuge where you could momentarily escape your past and current traumas. Serving as the President of the club was something you took pride in, using your position to inspire a deeper love and understanding of such a complex topic. You excelled in event planning, frequently jotting down ideas on your iPad for potential projects to showcase throughout the campus, aimed at attracting new members to the club. With only 15 members to represent, the chemistry club lacked funding to continue its meetings.
Dr. M was confident that you would discover a means to secure additional funding to maintain operations, and her trust in your capabilities rendered failure an impossibility. This is why you found yourself scribbling idea after idea, hoping to promote them at tonight's meeting. Dina, your friend since Freshman year, hovered over your shoulder, providing unwanted commentary, and scoffing at some of your ideas.
"Wow, Y/N, I always knew you were a bit of a nerd, but I didn't realize it was to this level! A scavenger hunt based on the periodic table? Seriously?"
You let out an exasperated sigh at your friend, quickly grabbing your iPad from her grasp and shielding your work, desperate to put an end to the relentless chatter. "Just leave me alone, D. If you're not going to offer the support and ideas you promised, you might as well spend time with Jesse, which is clearly what you prefer."
Dina swatted your arm playfully before taking the seat next to you, glancing at the iPad once more. "Fine, Y/N, I'm just messing with you. Sheesh, what has your panties in a wad?"
You shot her a fierce look, placing the apple pencil aside with a thud. "Dina, I am really not up for this right now. Especially now that I will be losing my mornings to that insufferable Ellie. I can't believe Dr. M would do me dirty like that." You threw your hands up in frustration.
Dina's eyebrows arched high, nearly disappearing into her hair as she exclaimed, "She what?! Seriously, Ellie didn't say a word about this during morning skate yesterday. She always jumps at the opportunity to shit-talk you."
Your jaw dropped at her remark, "Fuck you, Dina." You smacked her shoulder, defensively, fully aware she was just trying to get a rise out of you. Yet, deep down, you knew there was a grain of truth in her jabs. It was no secret that the captain had a strong dislike for you, a mystery you had long since stopped trying to unravel.
Dina giggled, munching on some Twizzlers she produced from her backpack, using it to point at your face. "You know, sometimes I wonder if she just actually want's to fuck you. I mean, seriously, she brings you up far too often. Anytime she brings you up, Coach makes her do suicides in full gear."
You felt a warm flush creep up your cheeks at your friend's teasing remarks, a whirlwind of images flashing through your mind that you desperately tried to banish. "Oh, come on, D, I just want this semester to end. I seriously doubt she'll be in any of my classes again, she's barely passing this one."
The thought of never seeing the auburn haired girl again stirred a whirlwind of feelings within, with relief rising to the forefront. You could daydream. Huffing, you glanced at your watch seeing it was quarter to 8, your nose wrinkled. "Speaking of, I have to go meet Williams in the library in a few. Please text me some of your ideas, I really need your help."
Shoving your iPad into your backpack, you quickly grabbed the Twizzler from Dina's grasp, savoring the sweet, chewy treat. Dina shot you a fierce look, saying, "You're lucky you're my best friend. Have fun on your date." Her eyebrows danced playfully, hinting suggestively.
"Fuck you," You muttered under your breath, slinging your backpack over your shoulder as you left the dining hall. Each step toward the library felt heavy, a sense of dread creeping in with every footfall. This was far from the semester you had envisioned; you were determined to steer clear of the girl as best as you could.
As you checked the time on your watch, a wave of panic washed over you; you were already late for your first tutoring session, and you could already imagine the endless teasing that awaited you. With a swift motion, you pushed open the heavy oak doors and swept your gaze across the study hall. There she was, lounging in the far corner, her feet casually resting on the table as if she owned the place. You couldn't help but roll your eyes as you approached her, noticing her engrossed in scribbling doodles in her notebook.
"You sure know how to keep a girl waiting, don't you, geek?" Ellie kept her gaze fixed on her notebook, playfully teasing without even glancing your way. The nickname that was supposed to be sweet ignited a fire of anger within you, as it was evident that it was being wielded as a tool for mockery rather than affection.
Shoving her feet off the table, you brushed aside her piercing gaze, which was locked onto you with an intimidating animosity, as you began to arrange your study materials. "Not everyone can lounge around looking cool all day while Mommy and Daddy pay for everything, many of us are tied down with responsibilities and jobs."
As you dug into the depths of your backpack to retrieve your textbook, a heavily tattooed hand suddenly crashed down onto its cover, making you flinch in surprise. "Do not speak about me as if you fucking know me. Mention my parents one more time and I will fucking end you."
Your heart raced, and your eyes widened as you struggled to keep your gaze locked with the hockey player. After enduring months of torment, you had resolved long ago to hold your ground with her, and today was no exception. "You need me just as much as I need you so I suggest you get used to the idea of me."
Her hand rested on your textbook, veins pulsing with fury as it shook before she clenched it into a tight fist. "I have no desire to see you as anything other than the loser geek who assisted me in keeping my grades up. To me, that's all you will ever be—nothing beyond that."
You fumed, "I don't know what world you're living in where I have any intention of getting to know you, don't flatter yourself. You see, Ellie, this is your problem is that you have such an inflated ego, thinking that everyone and everything exists just to cater to you."
She leaned back in her chair, arms folded tightly, her fingers twitching as if battling the urge to punch you. With her teeth clenched, Ellie shot back, "Like you said, you need me just as much as I need you. So let's get this over with."
You flipped open your textbook, deliberately avoiding her piercing gaze, silently wishing for this session to pass in a blur. "What are you having trouble with in this class? It's been pretty straightforward until now."
Ellie exhaled loudly, reaching for your wrist that was currently flipping through the pages. "Seriously, dork, if you want this to be as painless as possible you'll cease to insult my intelligence. I get the fundamental ideas; I'm not a fucking moron. I bombed the last test because I struggle with equations, and those organic reactions totally tanked my score."
Throwing your hand out of her grasp, Ellie pulled out her notebook you had been admiring the other day, finding the doodles to be adorable. Adorning the tattered cover were whimsical illustrations inspired by the cosmos and clever wordplay. One particular pun caught your eye: an otter, fishing pole in hand, pulling in a fish with the playful phrase, "I'm Otterly Hooked." You couldn't help but giggle, stifling the sound with your hand.
Ellie quirked an eyebrow, the one with the slit in it that you found oddly appealing, her expression a mix of curiosity and confusion over the cause of your sudden outburst. "Is there something I am missing? What's so funny about me completely wrecking my GPA?"
You could feel her irritation rising as you hurriedly clarified your reasoning to diffuse the escalating tension. "Sorry, but I can't help it—your notebook is adorable! I really enjoy a twist on words."
The hockey player's shoulders visibly eased, the weight of her tension lifting with your confession. She massaged the back of her neck and said, "Yeah, me too," before clearing her throat. Turning her attention back to her test, she focused intently on the red marks scattered across her paper.
An unexpected ease settled in, almost like you guys finding a shared interest on such a mundane subject broke the ice just a little bit.  A grin spread across your face when you noticed the same spark of amusement in the girl with forest-green eyes. Inspiration struck as you hastily pulled out your iPad. The other girl raised an eyebrow at your actions, clearly curious about your next move.
Sticking your tongue out you scribbled out your own version of word-play, exhilaration surging through you. A soft giggle escaped your lips as you added the final details to your artwork, then, with a mix of excitement and nervousness, you placed the device down, eager for Ellie to admire your masterpiece. Leaning herself forward, Ellie chuckled. On your iPad was a shark giving a thumbs-up, bubbles spelling out "Fintastic".
"As much as I love punny jokes, I really need to get some studying done before morning practice," she sighed. "Coach is already breathing down my neck about how I'm 'not demonstrating leadership qualities with my poor grades,'" she said, deepening her voice to mimic her coach, complete with exaggerated air quotes.
You found yourself instinctively extending your arm across the table, taking her hand in yours, a wave of sympathy washing over you. "Even if you stumble on a few tests, it doesn't define your ability to lead. I can see, despite our differences, that you genuinely care for the people around you."
Ellie stopped breathing as she looked down at your hand, as fragrant tendrils of lavender rose to her nose in powerful bursts. You purchased a vial of lavender oil the very night following your encounter, discovering a deep sense of comfort in its soothing aroma. Ellie shook her head vigorously, pulling her hand away from yours with a huff. "Stop pretending you know me, you dork," she muttered, irritation lacing her words.
You couldn't help the hurt that flooded your chest at her actions, making it feel like for every stride you made, you were being pulled two steps back into the shadows. "Whatever, Ellie. Just give me your test packet, I can draw up some practice equations."
Taking the paper from her grasp, you found yourself pleasantly surprised by her handwriting, which you had anticipated to be a jumbled mess. Instead, it was surprisingly tidy and even quite lovely. As you scanned through her incorrect answers, the source of her errors started to become clear. She was neglecting the solvent reactions, a detail that could be easily adjusted.
You looked up at Ellie, noticing her fingers gently gliding over the tattoo on her forearm, which peeked out from under her hockey sweatshirt. The name "Ellie Williams" was elegantly inscribed in flowing cursive across her right chest, accompanied by the school mascot nestled beneath it, her muscles subtly flexing beneath the fabric. Ellie sensed the weight of gazes upon her and locked eyes with you, her expression devoid of any feeling, as if she possessed the power to erase all traces of emotion, making you shiver.
Clearing your throat, embarrassed at being caught staring you asked, "Ellie, do you remember SN1 vs. SN2 or E1 vs. E2?"
Ellie's brows knitted together in confusion as she shook her head. "No, I don't. Was that part of the test?" As she reached for her paper, her finger brushed against yours while she held onto the packet. She appeared completely unfazed by the contact, but you felt a rush of emotions from that fleeting touch, struggling to suppress the stir of feelings it ignited within you.
Ellie's confusion morphed into frustration as she flung the paper onto the table between you two, her arms crossing defiantly, a familiar gesture of hers. "When the fuck did we learn this? I feel like I would have remembered that shit."
Reflecting on the time when the hockey player was missing from the lecture hall, you pinpointed the date when this chapter was covered. "We went over this two weeks ago, right at the end of September. But you weren't around," you said softly, the last part slipping out almost shyly, not wanting to make her uncomfortable with how closely you had noticed her attendance. She had been absent for a whole week, and even her friends were left in the dark about the reasons for her disappearance.
You had failed to be discreet as she instantly caught on to your observation. "How do you remember when I was or wasn't in class," Ellie asked, her tone surprisingly warm rather than angry, as if she appreciated your attention. The flicker of warmth quickly vanished as she shook her head. "Whatever, it's not a big deal, I will just talk with Dr. M and this whole arrangement can be finished."
Ellie didn't pause for your response; she sprang to her feet, shoving her books and notes into her backpack with a sense of urgency. In a whirlwind of emotion, she dashed out of the library, leaving you in a state of turmoil. The air around you felt heavy with silence as you sat there, rooted to your chair, struggling to muster the strength to move. Confusion swirled in your mind, and it wasn't until you finally resolved to gather your belongings that you began to erase any trace of your encounter, clearing the table as if to wipe away the memory of her presence.
As you reached for your iPad to lock the screen, your gaze was caught by a whimsical illustration beside your shark. There, next to the fierce creature, was a cheerful seal donning a festive party hat, joyfully proclaiming "Sealebration." The image stirred a wave of melancholy within you, a reminder of the frustration you felt over her unwillingness to engage with you civilly, despite the undeniable connection that seemed to linger between you.
A message pinged, shattering your focus on the scene before you. You grabbed your phone, heart racing with the hope that it was from a particular athlete. Your enthusiasm fizzled out the moment you saw Dina's name flashing on your notifications.
Dina: How about a Periodic Table Fashion Show! We could call it "Atomic Fashion" or "Noble Gas Glam"
For once, you didn't find amusement in a pun.

A knock was heard on the door to her office, where she was deep in her work preparing for tonight’s game, followed by the familiar voice of her colleague and friend.
“Hey lovely! Here are the spreadsheets and rundown of the stats from the last three games,” her friend said, setting a few papers on her desk.
She smiled back and felt a wave of relief. “Thank you,” she sighed. “I was wondering when the stats would come in from my favorite data analyst.”
“Oh, stop,” she chuckled. “You know how playoffs are.”
She nodded in agreement, noticing that the energy within the air, and more specifically, the arena, was more electrifying than ever.
Looking up from the documents, she saw one of the players walk by the door, giving her a smile and a friendly wave before walking off. She knew him, Nils Höglander, but she had only had small-talk and nothing more.
Her friend looked over her shoulder, a knowing smile appearing on her face. “Someone caught your eye?”
The blush on her face seemed to intensify, almost shamefully like a kid caught with candy. “No—” Taking a quick sip of her water, she hoped that the warmth on her face eased up.
“Alright, take it easy, go Canucks!” she cheered as she walked out of the office.
A smile made its way to her face as she turned back to her work. “Go Canucks!”
An hour or two passed by as she worked on reading the documents, preparing how she was going to announce the pregame reports, and making sure everything was finalized and set.
It was a fun, fast-paced job that kept her on her toes constantly, and she thrived in it, living in the rush and wanting more of the adrenaline. More rowdiness from the fans, more chants and cheers, and more passion from the city that was hungry for a cup.
“Hello?”
She drew her attention away from her laptop and towards her door, where she saw Quinn standing there, gear still on from the morning skate and practice.
“Hi Quinn, how can I help you?”
He scanned her desk, seemingly searching for something before his eyes landed on her coffee.
“What’s your go-to Tim’s order?” he asked.
She looked at him quizzically, wondering why he asked such a question out of the blue, but didn’t think too much about it. “Vanilla latte, why?”
“Nothin’” he shrugged, clearly more than nothing. “Have a nice day.” He walked away with a sly smile, making her more confused than nothing.
“You…too, Quinn,” she said, looking at her coffee with suspicion.
As she took a sip, it tasted the same still, maybe a little more room temperature, but nothing odd or wrong.
A few more hours passed, and before she knew it, the clock was counting down till puck drop. The arena already felt alive, the familiar blue and green decor that hung around her office reminding her.
She got up from her desk, making her way out of her office as her shoes tapped on the floor, echoing down the hall. Having all the important information and stats in her mind, she felt confident about how tonight’s game will go.
When she made it near the rink, she was greeted by a few other of her co-workers, as well as the media crew for the team, gear and equipment and smiles all set. The ice in the rink looked fresh and crisp, ready for a tough game.
“Ready for Game Six?” One of her co-workers asked.
She smiled and straightened up her posture, pride swelling within her. “Born ready. Go ‘Nucks.”
As the camera went live, everything else came naturally to her. The confidence, the excitement, and the adrenaline.
“Welcome back to Rogers Arena everyone, where tonight, the Canucks will face off again against the Nashville Predators in Game Six of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, hoping to eliminate the Predators, and advance to the second round.”
The arena started to fill up with fans, mainly fans of the Canucks, but there were a few Predators jerseys spread throughout.
Skaters headed out onto the ice, preparing to warm up as the arena cheered for each side, hoping that their team would win tonight’s game.
Adrenaline. Euphoria. Pride. So many emotions swelling inside of her, and she felt so alive and yet lost in a dream.
“As the Canucks hope to grab a win, the spotlight stands on the top players, with Boeser having four goals in this post-season, all within the past three games, and J.T. Miller with six points, pushing the Canucks forward in the playoffs,”
The statistics sounded impressive, and even on paper they looked unbelievable, but it was the Canucks, and she saw the potential long ago as they were developing.
One player especially caught her eye, but she would never admit to who, because it was mainly extremely unprofessional of her, and also because of the complications it could bring up.
And as if the devil cursed her thoughts, she met his eyes as the media crew was moved behind the bench, sharing a smile as he went and got a quick sip of his water before skating back out onto the ice.
“Hoping Höglander scores huh?”
She turned her head quickly to the voice her friend before turning away, hoping she didn’t see the blush that was dusted on her cheeks.
“Best hope is that every Canuck scores one,” she laughed, trying to push the topic somewhere else.
Her friend let out an exasperated sigh, “Oh gosh, and I’d be the one needing to calculate all the stats,”
As the warmups came to an end, a few of the players returned to the bench, Nils being one of them, and he gave her a quick smile and wave before refocusing on the game that his teammates were playing.
With quick plays and quick movements, the puck moved up and down the ice, from offense to defense, keeping everyone in the arena on their toes.
Fans roared with each close call, the atmosphere buzzing, static in the air, and before she knew it, the first intermission was starting.
The players poured into the tunnel, making their way back to the locker room after no goals from either team in the first period. Tensions still felt high, like a cord that could snap at any moment.
She waited out on the bench, fiddling with a pen and her notepad as her manager was trying to find one of the players to interview for a brief moment, hoping to get a word or two about the current game.
After a few minutes, she saw Brock walking out with her manager, a gentle expression on his face as usual.
The interview went smoothly as the rest of the night did, with one goal from the Canucks that led to a win as they advanced to the next round of the playoffs.
In the locker room afterwards, the place was rowdy, players and coaches celebrating their win with as much energy as they could. It set the stage for greatness, hope lingering in the air for a long playoff run.
Across the locker room from the doorway she stood under, her eyes met Nils, looking slightly disheveled, a mess even, but he still looked so, fulfilling. He smiled when he noticed her gaze, his eyes crinkling up.
And as the night eased in, the sky outside a crisp darkness, she walked to her car in the parking lot, her work bag slung over her shoulder as she was ready to go home, exhausted, but at ease.
A gentle smile was plastered on her face, gratitude for every little thing she worked so hard for to end up in the career field she was in, all the work paying off.
As she reached for the car door, she saw a figure walking towards her, at a rather quick pace, and she rushed to try and unlock the car.
The footsteps came closer, near stomping against the ground, and she felt panic.
“Hey! Wait, I need to talk to you!”
Turning her head quickly, her unease didn’t seem to dissipate despite the slightly familiar voice.
She unlocked her door frantically, got inside and locked it immediately, trying to recompose herself, still clutching her bag against her.
The man tapped on the window, causing her to lose the color in her face for a quick moment before realizing that it was Nils.
Letting out a breath, relief filled her, but she quickly started to scold him. “Nils, what the hell!”
“Sorry, sorry, I wanted to ask you a question,” he said sheepishly, voice muffled by the fact that he was outside.
She rolled down the window, a tight lipped smile on her face. “Yes?” Noticing how he seemed to fidget awkwardly, her expression slowly changed to concern. “Is everything alright?”
“Yeah, yeah,” he responded. “I was just wondering if you wanted to grab dinner with me sometime, I’d like to get to know you more,”
His face was a pinkish tint, illuminated by the interior light of her car. A warm blush started to envelope her face at his question, but she knew it felt wrong.
“Nils, I’m sorry but as much as I would like that, it would be unprofessional for the both of us, and we could lose our job.” Her tone remained professional, but there was a twinge of somberness within it.
A disappointed, but understanding smile appeared on his face. “I get it.” He was still sweet as ever, and she even felt a little guilty at her answer. “I’ll see you tomorrow, okay?”
“Alright, have a good night Nils, you did great tonight,” she smiled.
Smiling back, he gave her a nod of appreciation. “You did as well. Have a good night,”
He walked away from her car, looking back only once to notice that she kept her eyes on him, but pulled away when he saw.
She drove away, off into the night where the traffic died down, and where the Vancouver glow was as dreamy as it always was to her, an ageless magic.
Morning came, sunrise bright and early as she arrived back at the arena. There was no game planned for the day, only practice and training to prepare for the next game.
As she walked down the hall to her office, she noticed that her door was open, despite having locked it the night before. The only people who were also in the arena as early as her were the players, coaches, and athletic trainers.
Stepping into her office, she saw a cup of coffee placed on her desk, along with a sticky note beside it. It smelt familiar, and as she took a sip, she noticed that it was her order.
She read the sticky note, and it was a sweet message from Nils hoping that her day would go well, and a smile drawn at the end.
It was a sweet gesture, and she couldn’t stop herself from smiling at the note as she read it over again, somehow trying to dissect a deeper meaning.
“Oh, so you found it,” Quinn chuckled.
Startled by his sudden presence, she jumped, spilling a little bit of coffee on her sweater.
“Ow!” Yelping in slight pain, her face was hot in embarrassment. “Sorry, I’m okay,” she laughed nervously, attempting to somehow magically wipe the stain away.
“I should apologize,” he said, grabbing some tissues from her desk. “Nils is not going to be too happy with me for making you spill coffee on your clothes,”
Like clockwork, he walked by her office and saw the commotion, brow perked up in curiosity. “What about me?”
Turning her head over to look at him, she had a sheepish smile, still holding the note and coffee in her hands. “Hi, Nils.”
He noticed the stain on her clothes, and motioned to her to give him a minute as he ran off, leaving both Quinn and her confused.
Setting the tissues on the table, he muttered out an apology before running off after Nils down the hall.
Now, she was even more confused, unsure of everything that had happened. Putting everything down, she settled on just starting on her work, checking emails and the schedule for the day.
Minutes passed by, and her friend knocked on the door to her office, handing her the spreadsheets of the statistics.
“Good morning lovely, I got you your stats in case anyone was up for interviews today,” she said, still sweet as ever.
Giving her a light laugh, she shook her head. “Thanks, but no thanks. Spilled coffee on myself and I don’t think I’d like to be on camera today.” She pointed to her clothes.
“Awh, really? That’s terrible,” she sighed, sitting down in the chair in front of her desk. “If I had a spare shirt, I’d give it to you in a heartbeat.”
She put her hand over her heart, “Really? You’re always so sweet,”
Another knock came on her door, and they both looked up from her laptop and documents. Nils was standing here under the doorframe, holding a Canucks sweatshirt in his hands.
“Did I interrupt something?” His voice was barely above a whisper, careful and cautious.
She shook her head with a smile, motioning for him to come in. “Not at all,”
Her friend gave her a smirk and a knowing look. “I need to go get something from my office, see you near the rink,” she said, standing up and walking out of her office.
It was just him standing and her sitting in the office now, the hum of her speakers playing music softly, and time flowed like a river of honey.
The way he looked at her was gentle, warm, and she wanted him to keep looking at her like this forever. His slightly disheveled hair made him look even more raw, something in its purest form.
“I got you one of my sweatshirts,” he spoke softly, afraid to break the air that seemed so intoxicating. “So you don’t have to wear the one with the coffee stain.”
His eyes seemed to observe her every movement, trailing up her arm and to her face as she looked up at him.
She placed her hand on his forearm cautiously, afraid of him pulling away. “You didn’t have to Nils, I’m alright.”
Shaking his head, he wouldn’t take her words. “I insist,”
Her hand moved towards the sweatshirt hesitantly, eyes still looking at him, and stopping before actually reaching it.
“It’ll look better on you, and probably more comfortable.” His voice was quiet, his words easing from his lips.
Silently nodding, she accepted the sweatshirt from his hands as he kept his gaze on her. The air was hot and thick, like a jelly-dessert with extra sweet whipped cream dolloped on the top, a tart maraschino cherry reminding her of the consequences if she made a mistake.
She got up from her desk, walking over to the door of her office. “I’ll go change into this, you can stay a little longer.” Twisting the doorknob, she walked out, leaving Nils still standing there in her office, leaning against the desk.
When she came back from the bathroom, his Canucks sweatshirt on her loosely, holding her stained sweater, he was still there, just as she hoped, but yet, she felt the fear of being caught creeping up on her.
“Don’t you have practice?” she asked, voice careful.
He tilted his head quizzically, almost pondering her words delicately. “You know I have more than a few minutes to spare,” he said, walking over to her. “Most of the guys don’t come into the locker room until ten anyways.”
His hand trailed to the bottom hem of her sweatshirt, fiddling with the fabric between his fingers. Looking up at her, he searched for any sign of discomfort, and she stood there, looking back at him, blushed and flustered, wanting more of him.
“Don’t be so nervous, it’s just us in here,” he whispered. “This looks a lot better on you than it does on me, keep it.”
As he let go of the sweatshirt, she found herself wanting to feel his touch on it again, but when she looked up, he was already waving good-bye as he walked out of her office.
A sigh escaped her lips, unaware of the breath that she held. She walked back to her desk, flipping through the documents as she waited for time to pass.
None of it felt real. The past few moments, or even days, were slightly different and odd. Maybe it was the rush of the playoffs, skewing everything into a different perspective, or maybe, it was something else that she was too afraid to admit.
Her phone buzzed on her desk, causing her to be pulled away from her work.

Okay, be down in a bit
Smiling at the messages, she felt grateful for how tight-knit the crew seemed to be, feeling like a second family.
Shortly later, she was met with the smile and wave of her friend, calling her over to the bench. A few other members of the media and training crew were also at the bench, watching the practice unfold in front of them.
“So glad you’re here, it gets a little lonely,”
She looked at her in slight confusion, “With all these people around you?” She gestured.
“They’re not you,” her friend shrugged.
Laughing at her words, she noticed that it caught the attention of Nils on the ice, his eyes almost burning into her for a brief moment.
“You’re such a flirt, unnecessary.”
Her friend raised a brow at her, observing the sweatshirt that she was wearing. “I think that the only thing unnecessary is the fact that I’m one-hundred percent sure I’ve seen that sweatshirt somewhere,”
Rose tinted her cheeks as she felt slightly embarrassed, knowing that her friend knew exactly where she got the sweatshirt from.
A few minutes passed by, and she saw that Nils was skating back to the bench to grab a drink of his water. The way he looked at her while taking a sip could only be described as desire, eyeing her up like a kid looking at pastries from outside the glass.
His scruff seemed to fit him perfectly, rough and raw, and at the same time, gentle like himself. The playoffs definitely ignited something in him, and she found herself wanting to watch it all.
Before she could realize, practice was over, and the players were skating off of the ice one by one. Grabbing her bag, she walked back up to where her office was.
It was nearing lunch time, but she wanted to tidy up her office space a bit before heading out. She put the documents that her friend gave to her in a folder, placing it inside of her bag along with her laptop.
The cup of coffee from Nils was still on her desk, finished and empty, and so she threw it in the trash, but kept the handwritten note.
As she locked the door to her office, she turned around and bumped directly into Nils, crashing into him.
“Shoot! I’m so sorry—”
“You’re okay.”
His strong hands were placed on the sides of her arms, stabilizing her. Looking at him, he was slightly flushed, a bead of sweat or two lining his brow from the practice.
“Sorry, where are you headed?” he asked, hands quickly moving off of her when he noticed what he was doing. “Just wondering, I don’t mean to be weird or anything—”
“Don’t worry about it, Nils. I’m just headed to the Chipotle nearby for a quick lunch,” she said lightly,  almost caught off guard by how less bold he seemed compared to earlier.
A bright smile appeared on his face, “Oh, really? Because I was just about to head over too,” he laughed, a sweet blush dusting his face.
“Awh, that’s neat.” Her response was less than what she wanted to say, but she wanted to keep it professional.
They both walked towards the exit of the arena together, silence shared between the both of them as they were greeted by the warm weather, unfamiliar for Vancouver.
The streets were busy as usual, the rush of traffic coming and going, but it didn’t bother her since she was walking, not driving. As much as she hated traffic, she couldn’t deny the fact that it looked mesmerizing from afar at night, the glow of the headlights mimicking the city.
When she arrived at the restaurant, it was jam packed with people, not surprising for the time of day, but it was something that she wasn’t expecting.
She felt an arm nudge her side, drawing her attention towards Nils.
“I’ll pay for our food, it’s on me,”
“You don’t have to—”
He shook his head in disagreement, motioning for her to get in the queue with him, to which she followed behind him as they waited in line.
Her eyes scanned the room nervously, hoping to not see her boss or any of her co-workers at the restaurant since she was out with Nils.
If she was caught, she could potentially lose her job, which meant everything to her, but more importantly, she would have to be away from those she grew closest to. Away from Vancouver, and away from Nils.
And as if on cue, he started speaking, only loud enough for the both of them to hear. “Management won’t fire us for having a friendly lunch together, we’re okay,”
She simply nodded in response, a tight-lipped smile that still had a hint of unease to it.
After they got their orders, they decided to go back into the arena to eat rather than at the restaurant, food in hand as they walked there. It was a quiet and peaceful walk, but the weather started to turn into a cloudy gray, rain threatening to fall.
Looking up at the sky, she could tell it was only going to get worse. “Weather doesn’t look too good,” she mumbled, hoping that her papers wouldn’t get ruined.
He hummed in response, also looking up at the sky. “We should hurry,”
“Oh, really?” Her tone was sarcastic as she laughed, which in turn caused him to laugh as well.
He had a mischievous look in his eyes, and she knew that he had something in mind. “I’ll race you to the lounge in the arena,”
Before she could speak, he was already sprinting in the direction of the arena, and she followed suit, wondering how she would even catch up.
While she was running after him, she saw Elias near the front, most likely waiting for his food to be delivered.
“Petey! I need you to do a quick favor for me please,” she blurted, slightly out of breath.
He looked at her in confusion, sliding his phone back into his pocket. “Yeah?”
“I need you to unlock the lounge door.”
Shrugging, he led the way to the elevator as they headed up to the floor that the lounge was on. He then unlocked the door, to which she thanked him plenty of times for as he walked back to get his own food.
Throwing herself onto one of the chairs that was in the lounge, she let out a sigh of relief, food still in the bag and unopened.
“How on earth did you get here before me—”
She turned her head to the door, seeing Nils there, panting, out of breath, hand holding onto the door frame. His hair was soaked, dripping onto his shirt, most likely from the rain that started to fall harder since she got inside.
“I went through the front entrance,” she said nonchalantly. “Why?”
A surprised look was scrawled on his face. “The front entrance wasn’t under construction?”
She shook her head to his question.
“Why did Petey tell me that it was?”
A laugh bubbled out from her throat, causing her to hunch over as he sat down across from her. “Petey—he—let me in and use the elevator and pass to get in the lounge with no hesitation,”
While she found the situation hilarious, he on the other hand, was embarrassed, face flushed red.
“You owe me lunch next, that was foul play.” He opened his bag and started eating his burrito bowl, sitting comfortably on the couch.
Her lunch was already in her hands, the warmth radiating from it nicely as she got cozy. “Nope.”
They both ate quietly in the lounge, the sound of the rain tapping on the windows gently as Vancouver became a grayish gloom, completely different from the warm, comforting glow of the lounge lights.
It felt eerily domestic, the quiet peace, the shared, comforting silence, too strange to even consider it something just in the workplace between Nils and her. It felt like something that she could get lost into so easily, something along the lines of a classic fairytale romance.
“What’cha staring at?”
His voice snapped her out of her thoughts, and a rose-tinted blush was dusted over her face as she averted her glance.
“Nothing, just lost in thought,” she shrugged, hoping to play it off.
Her food was nearly finished, only small bits and scraps left which she prodded with her fork as she was deciding on whether or not she should throw it away or take it home.
The phone in her pocket buzzed, causing her to get up and throw the food away before excusing herself, walking into the hall to pick up the call.
“Hello?”
The familiar voice of her friend could be heard through the phone. “Hey, where are you? I thought you would be in the office by now.”
“Oh, sorry. I got caught up with something. Do you need me there now?”
“More like caught up with someone,”
Even through the phone, she could tell that her friend was giving her a knowing look accompanied with a wink.
“But anyways, I don’t need you ASAP but just enjoy your lunch with that special someone. Get back to me when you can.”
She let out a sigh, having already been outside the lounge. “Will do, love you lots.”
Her friend reciprocated the departure as she hung up, sliding the phone back into her pocket as she made her way to her office.
Nils left the lounge shortly after she hung up the phone, but he heard the last part of her call, which set him on edge. He didn’t know much about her personal life, and he wasn’t even sure if he was overstepping some personal boundaries of hers.
As the days passed, tensions rose in the arena as the Canucks went against the Oilers. Everyone felt restless, unease, not being able to properly get comfortable. Even after each win, it still felt like it wasn’t enough.
She stared at her laptop screen, sifting through the goals scored and other notable statistics of each game, somehow searching for a way to win with full certainty. Her fingers tapped against the desk nervously, and it felt like every poster and memorabilia on the wall was a relic to pray to.
The sound of childish bickering could be heard outside of her office, and she leaned back to try and get a glance at who it was. “Come in? The door is open I think—”
Her door swung open, and there stood a flustered Nils and a giggly Quinn attempting to push him into the room, whispering some sort of encouragement.
“Is everything alright?” She turned her chair to face the door, slowly getting up.
His playoff beard was starting to grow more, giving him a more masculine look that made her slightly weak, but he still kept a soft gentleness that she always liked from him.
“If I score tonight, will you get dinner with me?” Nils’s voice was quiet and nervous, but Quinn still stood in the doorway, waiting for a response from her.
She gave him a smirk, and she felt a wave of boldness overcome her. “I know you’ll score anyways, but we have a deal,”
He smiled with a blush and waved her goodbye as he ushered Quinn and him out of her office.
Time didn’t seem to pass quick enough, and she found herself pacing back and forth from her office to the rink. She had already prepared her report, all the information and stats needed for the pre-game announcements.
Taking in a deep breath, she tried to remind herself that the game would go well, but the pre-game jitters still ran rampant inside of her.
At the end of the hall, she could see her friend waving her over, holding something in her hands. As she walked closer, she could see that it was two Canucks jerseys, unnumbered and unnamed.
“I didn’t know which one you’d want—well I did know, but I didn’t want any rumors to spread for professionalism’s sake—so I got you a jersey for the game tonight.” She smiled.
It made sense, but she didn’t know why she was allowed to wear a jersey tonight. “Management let you?” she said, confused.
“Yeah, odd, but I don’t mind it.” She placed the jersey in her hands, the athletic material brushing against her palms. “Hoping we snag a win tonight,”
She let out a sigh, anxious but hopeful. “Me too,”
A few minutes before puck drop, she stood near the glass beside the rink, the blue and green lights of the arena giving the place an eerie glow.
Her jersey was on, Canucks emblem proudly displayed on the front as she got ready to give the pre-game report.
“Welcome everyone to Rogers Arena where the Canucks are facing off tonight against the Edmonton Oilers, hoping to get a win in this series. Tonight, the focus and spotlight is shifted onto our players to watch, having performed greatly these past few games,”
The camera was then panned to the players practicing on the ice as she moved to the bench, standing behind the players beside the coaches and athletic crew.
And as the game started, the arena was tense. The sounds of the stick smacking on the ice could be heard, cheering, chanting, and puck calling all too familiar. The building was loud and the fans were riled up, hoping to not be let down.
Minutes passed by, and the puck was being moved up and down the ice, and just as it made it into the offensive zone for the Canucks, leading to a goal for Elias Petterson.
Fans cheered and shouted as the goal horn went off, banners flying and waving through the air as the players celebrated the first goal of the game.
She cheered from the bench as well, celebrating with her colleagues and friends, full of adrenaline and joy. Even though Nils hadn’t scored yet, she was still hopeful that he would, having seen a couple of close calls that bounced off of the post or barely stopped by the goalie.
As the first period came to an end, the players filed off into the locker room as the media crew and her gave a quick first intermission report.
She could feel her heart beating in her chest, the oh so familiar feeling of being high with the rush of energy, the way it felt so unreal despite experiencing it over and over again.
Before she knew it, the second period was starting, players in their position in the neutral zone waiting for the puck to hit the ice. Her eyes watched every player carefully, observing each number and and keeping note of who is where and when at every second.
When she saw Nils get onto the ice, time felt like it was solid as she held her breath.
He weaved through the other players, gaining possession of the puck before passing it back to Quinn.
As the goalie thought Quinn was going to shoot, he passed it back to Nils, who scored a wrist shot that went over the goalie and into the goal.
The horn went off as the fans started to cheer wildly, the players celebrating on the ice again with picturesque smiles and hugs while she was on the bench, face dusted with a blush as she tried her hardest to play it off as over-exerted cheering.
She could see the smirk on his face, knowing that the deal was already set, and she could also see how Quinn was pointing at Nils, most likely teasing him about the bet.
The game went on, slower than what she wanted, but by the end of it all, it was a two-nothing victory for the Canucks, leading to a happy team, and more specifically, a happy Nils. The locker room was amped, music blaring as she walked by, the sound of grown men trying their best to sing along, and a smile scrawled on her face.
She had already done the post-game report, albeit, a very rushed one with a flustered look on her face, but she tried her hardest to remain as professional as possible. Her bag was packed and all ready to head home, files and papers in folders, laptop in its case, and every muscle in her body felt ready to collapse.
The rain was rampant outside, splashing in puddles outside on the concrete, and she knew she had to either be quick, or deal with a soaked jersey, and the last option did not sound too pleasant.
Staring into the now empty parking lot, she allowed herself to take a few deep breaths in, feeling the cool air fill her lungs, and breathing out, with her muscles relaxing.
She could hear footsteps behind her, but like a second instinct, she knew exactly who it was.
“Nils,” she said quietly.
He paused before taking another step towards her, the air now seemingly filled with a static. “You’re going to catch a cold,”
“You as well.”
A small chuckle escaped his lips, followed by a sigh. “Let’s get to your car first, then we’ll talk,”
She led the way to her car, hair becoming more messy and soaked from the rain. When she looked back, she saw Nils following behind her, but he looked even more tempting with his unkempt hair.
Placing her bag in the car, she turned back to Nils, seeing him stand there waiting for her.
He looked at her, observing every detail of her with no shame. “That jersey looks beautiful on you, ya’know?”
“Oh, stop it, Nils,” she blushed. “When and where is the dinner I was promised?”
Pulling out his phone, he asked for her number, to which she gave him it. She had trust that he would actually follow through with his promise, and so she didn’t ask for him to check it again.
“I mean it, you look gorgeous and always have. Even right now.”
She looked up at him, admiring his features silently for a few while her fingers ghosted over the lapel of his suit.
“May I?” He asked, hand hovering over the small of her back.
As soon as she nodded, he pulled her into a tender kiss, lips pressed against hers. It felt like everything from the past few weeks all started to become worth it, the waiting, the stares and glances. All of it.
The rain continued to fall between them, cold against the warmth of their bodies, and she didn’t want to pull away any time soon.
Her eyes remained shut, but she knew he looked so handsome with his lips pressed to hers. His scruff was scratching against her face, but she knew that she wouldn’t ever mind it at all.
Butterflies were loose inside of her, fluttering wildly as if she waited for this moment for far too long.
His touch, his fingers against her chin was full of sparks, and his other hand on her back seemed to be the only thing grounding her to reality, reminding her that this moment was real, and forever in her memories.
When they both finally pulled away, breathing heavily, their lips were swollen and tender, smiles painted on their faces.
He had a sort of angelic glow to him, ethereally irresistible, and she pulled him in for a quick peck once more.
“Can’t get enough of me already?” He chuckled.
She shook her head as she opened her car door, sitting inside as she gave him a gentle smile. “Could never get enough of you.”
He took her hand in his palm, giving it a gentle kiss before he waved goodbye to her again. “Please, get home safe,”
“Will do, Nils. I’ll see you tomorrow,”
As she drove off with a dopey smile, she could still feel the warmth of him and each touch of his vividly, and she knew the glow of the lights in Vancouver would never be the same again.

you spoke too soon | 21
"Baegjo! Ynnie!"
"Baekgu! Hoon!"
"Bae-Bae!" The two said together while making a heart with each other.
"Oh, Sunghoon," Yn pouted at the camera before looking at him.
He looked back, "What is it, Yn?" He questioned.
"We're not bae-bae today! I'm Barbie and you're Ken!" She expressed.
Sunghoon gasped before moving his arm like a robot, feeling embarrassed. "Oh my gosh, I forgot," he said, moving his arms, trying his best not to burst out laughing.
"Ah, Sunghoon, you're not an actual doll!" Yn said, shoving his shoulder.
He gave her a questioning look, "What do you mean? Who's Sunghoon? Barbie, I'm Ken!" He smiled.
She rolled her eyes playfully before looking at the card in her hand, then back at the camera. "Today we have some special comebacks and stages!" Yn said excitedly.
"That's right, we have Choi Yena, VCHA, 8Turn, (G)I-DLE, RIIZE, and more performances coming your way!" Sunghoon smiled at the camera.
Yn smiled and nodded at Sunghoon before turning to the camera, smiling herself. "But right now, let's enjoy Hui on the stage with his solo debut!" Yn ended as the camera stopped airing, and they waved goodbye.
"You can't even act like Ken without laughing. How do you think I feel pouting all the time?" She said, making him laugh.
"You gotta admit, I ate that arm thing up," he said.
She side-eyed him before shaking her head, "I fear you didn't. You left a lot of crumbs. The plate is still full! Did you even nibble at it?" She teased him, causing him to pout.
"You didn't have to go that far, YN! Come on, be nice to me. I bought you coffee yesterday!" He said.
"Yeah, you buying coffee is causing more rumors to stir up! Oh, I just remembered, tomorrow we're filming a video for the variety show," she said, remembering their task for tomorrow.
He hummed, "I wonder what they're going to do tomorrow," he said. "Do you want to go to your waiting room or mine?" He questioned.
"Mine!" She said, making him smile before opening her waiting room door.
🧸.
The next day, Yn arrived in one car while Sunghoon arrived in another. They talked to the camera in their separate cars as the staff drove them both to the location.
"I honestly don't know what they have planned, but I'm sure it's going to be fun. But I'm kinda nervous," Yn said to the camera.
"Why are you nervous?" her manager asked.
"Manager Kim just seriously asked why I was nervous... because I'm scared. You guys are spooky with ideas. What if you guys take me skydiving or something? I'll actually cry on camera," she pouted.
They drove into an empty parking lot. "See what I mean? This place is empty. Are we doing a haunted house or something?" Yn whined as her manager laughed before another black car pulled up beside them.
"Okay, Yn, I'm gonna need you to cover your eyes, and I'll lead you outside the car and into the place," her manager said.
Yn squinted her eyes suspiciously at the woman before closing them. Her manager walked her out of the car and into the place. As Yn felt a sudden cold breeze, she started shaking a bit.
"It's cold in here, what the..." she cut herself off from finishing, not wanting to curse on camera.
She heard Sunghoon laugh right next to her, startling her as she still had her eyes shut tightly. "It's not that cold, it feels nice in here," he hummed.
She shook her head. "Can we open our eyes? Wait, Sunghoon, are your eyes closed?" she questioned him.
"Yeah, don't worry."
"3, 2, 1, open your eyes now!" someone shouted as Yn and Sunghoon both opened their eyes slowly before gasping.
They were at an ice rink. "No way!" Sunghoon smiled genuinely.
"No wonder it's freezing in here," Yn said before her manager put a coat on her as she thanked her.
Sunghoon kept smiling at the rink, making Yn a little creeped out. "Icey boy, get on the rink and stop smiling so weird!" Yn said, making Sunghoon laugh.
"Let me get my skates on first!" he said, sitting on the bench as her manager gave him skates. Yn joined next to him, putting skates on.
She sighed, "I've only skated a few times!" she whined to the camera, making Sunghoon smile.
"I've skated for almost a decade of my life. I love ice skating," he said, getting up.
Yn tried to follow him but kept wobbling over. "This is so embarrassing," she said as the camera caught her struggling on the ice rink.
Sunghoon was already skating around, smiling and laughing. Looking at him made her feel bubbly inside.
"Show-off!" Yn shouted as he skated by her.
He smiled, "Come on, take my hand so you won't hurt yourself," he said as she grabbed his hand.
She stayed as close as possible next to him, leaning on him like he was a part of her. "How do you do this shit?" she whispered to him.
"Come on, just do this," he said, showing her. She tried to follow, but she fell on her butt, making him laugh.
They played a few games on the ice and just skated around for fun before wrapping up the video.
"And have a Bae-Baetastic day!" They ended the video, waving at the camera as it panned up to the ceiling before cutting off.
"At least I know how to ice skate a little!" she smiled, trying to skate but ended up falling on top of Sunghoon.
"You spoke too soon," he groaned.
She sat up and apologized to him as he got up and helped her. "Maybe I did speak too soon," she laughed.
He shook his head and patted her shoulder. "You'll never be as good as me, sweetie," he winked, making her roll her eyes.
"Never said I'll be as good as you," she said before holding his hand as he led her off the rink.

Themes: fantasy, quirkiness, chocolate, sweets/candy,, whimsy, poetry (some lines are actually from poems quoted by the movie)
“A little nonsense, now and then, is relished by the wisest men.” “What would a computer do with a lifetime's supply of chocolate?” “Oh, you should never, never, doubt what nobody is sure about.” “She was a bad egg.” “If the good lord intended us to walk, he never would’ve invented roller skates.” “The suspense is terrible, I hope it will last.” “Stop. Don't. Come back.” “There’s no earthly way of knowing which direction we are going.” “I am now telling the computer exactly what it can do with a lifetime's supply of chocolate.” “It happens every time, they all become blueberries.” “Impossible, my dear lady! That’s absurd! Unthinkable!” “Time is a precious thing. Never waste it.” “Why? Are you having fun?” “So much time and so little to do. Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it.” “We are the music makers; we are the dreamers of dreams.” “Is it raining, is it snowing, is a hurricane a'blowing?” “Candy is dandy, but liquor is quicker.” “Don't just stand there, do something!” “Gives it a little kick.” “You're an inhuman monster!” “You will live in happiness too.” “All I ask is a tall ship and a star to sail her by. All aboard, everybody.” “The danger must be growing.” “Can it, you nit!” “I think I can safely say your time and money have been well spent.” “Up the airy mountain, across the rushy glen, de daren't go a-hunting, for fear of little men” (as in the little/wee folk/fairies) “They have a good sporting chance, haven't they?” “There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination.” “You're a crook. You're a cheat and a swindler! That's what you are!” “Little surprises around every corner, but nothing dangerous.” “I'll get you one before the day is out.” “I won't tell, that would be cheating.” “I know how anxious you've all been these last few days...” “Delighted to meet you, sir. Overjoyed, enraptured, entranced.” “Spitting's a dirty habit.” “I think it's the most wonderful place in the whole world!” “So shines a good deed in a weary world.” “You get nothing! You lose! Good day, sir!” “Goodbye, [name]. Adieu. Aufwiedersehen. Gesundheit. Farewell..” “It's all there, black and white, clear as crystal!” “No, no, don't speak. For some moments in life, there are no words.” “The strawberries taste like strawberries.” “We're about to witness the greatest miracle of the machine age.” “Now, don't get excited. Don't lose your head, [name]. We don't want anybody to lose that.” “They won't really be burned in the furnace, will they?” “I’m sorry, but all questions must be submitted in writing.” “Don't forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he always wanted.” “If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it.” “What is this, [name]? Some kind of funhouse?” “He can't swim.” “Want to change the world? There’s nothing to it.”

kc+intimacy pleeaeee! can be smut or no smut, as you like!
“What are you doing?” comes the familiar drawl from behind her.
“Dancing,” Caroline says, ignoring him, focusing on the music and swaying her hips accordingly while brushing her hair. “It’s therapeutic.”
“I'm sure it is.” Klaus sounds amused, setting the ammunition bag on the dining room table. “You're a very good dancer, love.”
“Thank you. I know, though.”
He scoffs, coming up behind her and grabbing her hips, turning her to face him and grinding against her. She lets out a breathy laugh, nearly moaning when his hands rake up her sides. “Would you like a partner?” he asks silkily, dipping her.
She comes back up, her hair flying behind her and Klaus tucks it behind her shoulders, smirking. “No thanks,” she says, her tone breezy. “I have a better one.”
“Do you?” Klaus’s tone is teasing, but with an undercurrent of possessiveness in it. “And who is this man you’ve replaced me with?”
“Oh, just a friend. He’s just like you, you know.”
“Is he, now.” She yelps when Klaus’s clever fingers skate under the hem of her dress, travelling up her thigh. “I do so hate to be replaced.”
“Handsome, British, dodgy morals.” She whimpers when he strokes a line across the dip of her hip bone. “He’s a—Klaus, you ass, those were my good panties.”
“I happen to like all your knickers, love, and yes, do continue. Tell me all about this wonderful friend of yours. His name, his address, his social security number.”
“You don’t need to be jealous of Enz—oh, Klaus—”
He smirks, sinking two long fingers into her aching core, and she arches her back, moaning when he crooks them, sending a rush of wetness through her. “Klaus,” she admonishes, her breathy laughter not proving her point. “Get your hands out of my underwear.”
“But they're gone now,” he says, burying his face in her neck and inhaling. “You smell like me.”
“I'm wearing your cologne,” she replies, and rolls her eyes when he smirks. “Not on purpose. I was wearing your shirts and do you never wash them, cause—”
Klaus cuts her off with a deep kiss, pulling his fingers out of her, making her whimper, and curving his palms around her ass and hoisting her up, muffling her protests with his lips. “Klaus,” she half-says, half-moans out about three minutes later, because as much as the man infuriated her, he was an amazing kisser. “Did you get into my chocolates again?”
The look Klaus gives her is sheepish, not to mention slightly mischievous. “I finished mine.”
“Well, that’s why I bought you yours. So that you wouldn’t eat mine.”
“My,” Klaus kisses her sloppily, laying her down on the couch, “sincerest,” he punctures the sentence by laving his tongue against the pulse point on her neck, “apologies. Do allow me to make it up to you.”
“I have to go out.” Caroline gasps as his lips reattach themselves to her neck. “Klaus, you're distracting me—oh—”
“Hm,” he muses, his tongue working wonders against that one spot on her collarbone. “You don’t sound like you particularly mind.”
“I do,” she sighs, closing her eyes as he works his way down her chest, stopping at her breasts. “I mind a lot.”
“I'll change your mind, don’t worry.” Before she can retort, he shoves down the dress and snaps open the buckle of her bra, lips immediately latching on to her nipple. She moans, throwing her head back, uncaring of the fact that the action damages her carefully done hair. She winds her fingers into Klaus’s curls, and she feels him grin against her breast, the smug jerk. “Klaus,” she moans, “I have to go. I'm late. Enzo’s going to kill me.”
“Don’t talk about your friends when I'm making you come, Caroline.”
“Let me go, you ass.” She smirks when he lifts his curly head to glare at her through eyes laden with desire. “I'm late.”
“Do you want me to help you be later?” he leers. “It’ll be fun.”
“Get off!” She shoves him off her playfully, and he lands with a thump on the ground. Caroline bursts out laughing, and he gets to his feet, glaring down at her.
“That was very rude.”
“Oh, I know. But it was so funny—Klaus, you ass, put me down!”
“Why should I let this Enzo fellow have you when you clearly like me better?”
“Oh, you're so full of yourself. Enzo’s much more fun to hang out with.”
“Now, surely that can't be true, love. Enzo can't give you anything I can't. Anything you receive, I can double it.”
“You know what you give me?” Caroline kisses him on the lips, briefly but deeply. “Love. And orgasms. Do you want Enzo to give me that? That’s what I thought,” she remarks dryly at his answering growl.
“Fine,” Klaus sighs, releasing her, glaring at her when she grins. “Leave if you must. I'll be here, drowning my sorrows.”
“No drinking tonight!” she tells him sternly, disappearing into the bedroom to redress herself, smacking away Klaus’s wandering fingers. “We have an early day tomorrow.”
Klaus’s expression sours. “Do we have to go?”
“Yes,” Caroline answers cheerfully, pecking him on the lips, brushing her hair. “And it’s only for a few hours, so suck it up. I'll be back in a few hours. Don’t get too bored. Don’t worry, I'll break out the good lingerie when I get home.” She almost laughs at the intrigued look that passes over his face. “You know, to make up for my very,” she trails a finger down his tie, “bad behaviour.”
Klaus grabs her wrist, tugging her to him. “You are a dangerous woman.”
“I know,” she hums. “I'll be late. Try to wait up anyway. I'll make it worth your while.” She winks at him while walking out the door, flashing him a peek at the garters she’s wearing under her dress. “Sir.”
The sound Klaus makes is gratifying.

Fic Advent Calendar - Day 8: Sleigh Ride
Tumblr media
A sequel to my story from Day 4.
The festival was a success.
Pride and happiness filled Regina as she stood in the center of the park, watching as the people of Storybrooke moved around the festival. Several businesses from town had set up stations there and all were crowded - especially Granny's booth, which was selling food and other treats. Children participated in different games as did the adults, while others again skated around the rink.
It was almost perfect.
There was just one thing missing.
Her boyfriend.
Of course, the festival fell under his purview as the director of the parks and rec department. Even with his staff and the volunteers, Robin was still pulled in several different directions. She had seen him briefly when she opened the festival. He had kissed her before rushing off to check on something.
She hadn't seen him since.
"Here," Mary Margaret said, holding out a cup. "You look like you could use some hot chocolate."
"Is it spiked?" Regina asked, taking the cup. "Because I could use whiskey more."
Mary Margaret chuckled before shaking her head. "Unfortunately, no whiskey. Just chocolate and whipped cream."
Regina sighed. "I guess it will have to do for now."
"Missing Robin?" Mary Margaret asked. "I've barely seen him."
"He's running this show," Regina said. "I knew I wouldn't see him."
Mary Margaret nodded before saying: "But this is still something you want to experience with the person you love, right?"
"Yeah," Regina admitted with a sigh. She then turned to Mary Margaret. "So why aren't you with the person you love?"
"I was," Mary Margaret replied. "He's now manning the animal shelter booth for an hour and then we're going to meet up again."
Regina took a sip of the hot chocolate before asking: "So you're going to keep me company?"
Mary Margaret nodded. "We can keep each other company."
"Alright," Regina said, looping her arm with Mary Margaret's. "Let's go."
"Okay," Mary Margaret replied, laughing. "There's a vendor with some cute scarves I want to look at."
Regina nodded. "Sounds good. We can start there and make our way around."
They walked off, sipping their hot chocolate. If Regina couldn't be with Robin, at least she could enjoy the festival with her best friend.
***********************************************************************
"I think I'm going to go home," Regina said, standing from the table where she had enjoyed dinner with Mary Margaret and her husband David. "Henry is spending the night with a friend and I'm sure Robin will be here late. So I think I'll go enjoy some quiet."
"Oh," Mary Margaret said, sharing a look with David. "Are you sure about that?"
Regina nodded. "I am."
Honestly, she wasn't. She had really hoped to spend at least some time with Robin at the festival but she had to admit that wasn't happening. And so she decided a hot bath and maybe a face mask before curling under the blankets was the next best thing.
"Okay," Mary Margaret said as David looked at something on his phone. She hugged Regina. "Have a good night."
"You too," Regina replied. "See you soon."
She walked away from the food area and down the center aisle created by the placement of the vendor booths. It led right to the parking lot. And since she was the mayor, she had a VIP parking spot right at the entrance to the park. She would be on her way home soon.
As she neared the end of the vendors, she heard bells jingling nearby. They grew louder and were joined with the clip-clop of hooves. Regina stopped as a beautiful brown horse trotted past her, pulling a red sleigh with black trimmings. Sitting inside, holding the reins, was Robin.
He stopped the horses and stood, holding out his hand to her. "Milady."
"Robin," she said, surprised and wondering if she was dreaming. "What is this?"
"A sleigh," he replied. "I thought we could go for a ride."
Her mind processed that as she blinked a couple times. "A ride?"
Robin nodded. "I have a surprise for you."
"A surprise?" she asked, certain her brain had stopped working.
"Yes," he replied. "Come on. You'll love it."
She took a deep breath before grabbing his hand. He helped her into the sleigh and guided her to sit down next to him. Robin covered their legs with a blanket before smiling at her. "Here we go," he said.
He cracked the reins and the horse moved forward, following the path that would circle the festival area. Regina cuddled against Robin's side as she asked: "Where are we going?"
"You'll see," he said. "Trust me."
"Alright," she replied, resting her head on his shoulder. "I can do that."
He kissed the top of her head. "Thank you."
The horse followed the path toward a small group of trees as the sky darkened overhead. Robin whispered: "How about a little Christmas magic? Snap your fingers."
"Really?" she asked, amused.
"Yes," he said. "Go ahead."
She sighed but took off her glove. Raising her hand, she snapped her fingers.
And an enchanted Christmas forest appeared before her.
Every tree had lights on them. One tree was covered in red lights, another in blue, a third in yellow and so on. Stars rested on the very top, shining down on them as the horse walked through the enchanted grove. Fake presents rested under the trees and she spied illuminated deer decorations there as well. Instrumental Christmas music played around them, though she wasn't sure if the speaker was hidden in the trees or in the sleigh.
Or maybe it was just Christmas magic.
"This is beautiful," she whispered.
"Thank you," he said. "My team and I were able to put this together last minute. We thought people would like some sleigh rides through a winter wonderland."
She nodded, noticing two angels with horns glowing as they left the enchanted grove. "This is going to be a big hit."
He chuckled. "If your reaction is any indication, I have to agree."
"This is amazing, Robin," she told him, looking at him again. "No wonder you've been busy all day."
"Yeah," he said, sighing. "I'm sorry I haven't been around. I really hoped I could spend more time with you."
She wrapped her arm around his, leaning against him. "Me too but I understood. Doesn't mean I didn't miss you."
He rested his cheek against her head. "I missed you too."
"I wish this sleigh ride would never end," she said, noticing that they were approaching the ice skating rink at the edge of the festival. Their time together was almost over.
For now, at least.
He kissed the top of her head. "It's not over just yet," he said.
"What do you mean?" she asked, lifting her head as confusion filled her. "We're almost at the festival."
"I know," he said, guiding the horse down another path. "But we're going to take a little detour."
She frowned. "A detour?"
He nodded. "You'll see."
"Alright," she said, deciding to trust him yet again.
Robin slowed the horse to a stop by a gazebo. Its top was covered in white lights while the rest was draped in evergreen boughs and red bows. He set down the reins before standing, climbing down from the sleigh. She watched as he came around to her side, holding out his hand to her. "Milady?"
She took his hand and stepped down onto the path as she asked: "What's going on?"
"You'll see," he said, leading her to the gazebo.
"Alright," she replied, carefully walking up the steps into the main part of the gazebo.
A small table was set up in the middle. Three candles resting inside glass holders sat on the table. Roses surrounded them and her heart skipped a beat as she took in how romantic the whole scene was. She slowly turned toward Robin, tears filling her eyes when she saw him on one knee.
He took her hand, smiling. "Regina, I love you," he said.
"I love you too," she replied.
"Good to know," he replied cheekily before his expression softened. "I didn't know an offer to ice skate with you would change my life. This past year has been one of the best of my life. I can't imagine my life without you or Henry in it."
Robin put his hand in his coat pocket before pulling out a black velvet box. He opened it to reveal a ruby flanked by two small diamonds on a silver band. "Regina Mills, will you marry me?" he asked.
She nodded, swallowing as she pulled off the glove on her left hand. Regina held it out again as she said: "Yes."
"Then let's get this ring on before your hand freezes," Robin said, removing the ring and sliding it onto her ring finger. He kissed her hand before saying: "There."
"It's beautiful, Robin," she said, admiring her ring even as the cold nipped at her fingers. "I love it."
He stood, pulling her closer to him. "Henry helped pick it out."
She felt her insides melt as she imagined Robin and Henry in the jewelry store together, inspecting every ring and working together to find the perfect one for her. "That's so sweet," she said.
"I know how important he is to you," Robin said. "And we're going to become a family. It felt only right to include him.
"So, can I kiss my fiancée now?" he asked, grinning.
Her heart skipped a beat as she nodded. "Please do."
Robin leaned in, capturing her lips. Her eyes fluttered closed as she treasured the moment. She was engaged to the love of her life, her soulmate.
She couldn't ask for a better Christmas gift.

Such Beautiful Creatures
Tempest had never been to an aquarium before but Hobie had decided for zhem that zhey were getting some fresh air. Especially being holed up in zheir room, choke by a spiral of grief. Only interacting with others when missions called for it. Otherwise acting like a lone wolf. 'Why are we not going through the front entrance?' Tempest was aware of his inconsistent nature. Unaware of his anarchist beliefs. 'Because I'm broke,' is all he answers.
That and if they got caught, they could simply blip to another universe. As they're about to cross paths with a security guard, Hobie reminds zhem to act casual, like zhey're supposed to be there. Nodding, Tempest shoots the security a friendly smile as Hobie makes small talk, the guard answering his inquiry for directions.
Tempest looks at all the marine life in awe. Too distracted as zhey stop and read the accompanying plaques. Taking in what information they can gather. Hobie watches, always a few paces behind with a soft smile on his face. To him, Tempest looks like a kid in a candy store. Recalling how this all started with him asking Peter B. for advice. 'Zhey're essentially from the Wild West era, there has to be some things zhey still haven't seen before.'
'Yea, but what?' Hobie had asked the dad of the group. 'How about an aquarium? That tends to work wonders with the kiddos.'
Hobie's shot of his reverie when he hears Tempest let out a short squeal. Realizing zhey've found the semi-open area where one could 'pet' rays and skates. Hobie doubles over in laughter when Tempest's turns to him with a sharp glare. 'Oh! You should've seen your face, Tempe.'
'Tell any of the spidey's about this and you're dead, Hobie. Dead.' Tempest threatens but with how happy Tempest is, it lacks any bite. But Hobie plays along, holding his hands in surrender. Fingers crossed on one as he was totally telling the others. 'If I didn't know any better, I'd say you're scared of the little critters.'
'I'm not! Just feels weird.'
At the end of the duo's visit, Tempest stops in the gift shop and ends up buying a shark plushie. Hobie immediately picked up on the secondary purpose of the purchase. That way if the two got stopped while exiting the aquarium, Tempest could show the receipt for the plushie. Thus still being considered a paying customer. Simply teleporting back to Nueva York.
Hobie's surprised when he's pulled into a hug by the older spidey but quickly reciprocates. 'Thank you Hobie,' Tempest said before releasing Hobie from the hug. It had been the first time in a while that zheir mind wasn't thinking about Patrick.
'Was nothing,' waving zhem off as if he would help anyone who asked trespass into an aquarium.

Moon wanders over closer to the roller rink. Fairly nervous, but trying to gather courage. Seemingly setting out to try and ask the others if he can join their charades. Although as he gets closer to all the ruckus. They slow down to a confusing walk. The worry draining from their face as they look at the sight in front of them.
Black Star and Planet are down on the ground with a bunch of the roller rink assist scooters. They were essentially little walkers with more wheels. Except it seemed like Black Star and planet were screwing off the wheels and bases. Meanwhile Eclipse was following stumbly behind comet. As he seemed to just talk and talk and talk about different skating techniques.
Moon stood there confused. This technically could be counted as an act of vandalism. But at the same time he was trying to get on these guy's good side. So instead he stood there wondering his options. Finally deciding to actually ask why they were taking apart the assists. Walking forward with a presence. Most stopping in their movements. Except for comet. Who stopped moving but was still rolling in the direction they were last going.
Moon: Hi. Um. May I ask why the assist scooters are being taken apart?
Black Star: Wouldn't you like to know?
Planet: Back off cheese face. It's for a good fucking reason.
Comet: Clips need skates!
Moon looked up in surprise. He wasn't exactly expecting to get an answer with how aggressive the other two had talked. And yet he found comet skating towards him with a fumbling eclipse behind. Black Star shooting him a growl while planet only glared.
Comet: Eclipse doesn't have any skates. And he wants to!
Moon: But doesn't everyone have uniquely made skates?
Comet: Yes, and no. Apparently there's some mix-up from animatronics that weren't supposed to be here?
Black Star: Yah. Since eclipse was built by me. And he wasn't a part of the roller rink or even any activities outside. No one ever built him skates.
Planet: You happy with your answer?
Eclipse: What Is Moon doing?
Planet: Being a bother.
Comet: Hey hey. You aren't moon!
Eclipse: Moon never leaves his den. Why out here now?
Comet: Yeah. It sounds like it's a rarity?
Moon: Well. I was just hoping to... Engaged in some activities.
Eclipse: Engage?
Comet: You want to skate!?
Moon: Ahhh-
Eclipse: More skate?!
Planet: I bet this wasn't your plan was it?
Moon: Auuuuuummmmmmmmmm. I don't know how to skate.
Comet: Ahhh!!! What is with all of you not knowing how to use the fucking skates! Why is planet the only one who's got a good fucking idea!
Black Star: I was in the theater!
Comet: Right across from the skating arena!
Eclipse: I was acting.
Comet: I know you're plenty busy in that theater but don't you have any chill time?
Eclipse: No.
....
Moon: Really?
Eclipse: Theater big big busy. Early day calm, but so much prep. Then get busy, and busy, and busy, and busy!
Black Star: It gets less busy when they're watching a movie. But eclipse likes to perform.
Eclipse: Performing fun!
Comet: Well maybe~ You can put on more movies so you can have fun with me!
Eclipse: Oh no! Me not like choosing.
Comet: It's a choice between fun with friends and fun with yourself. I think you know which one is better~.
Eclipse: Oh no. Hehe.
Comet: Ohhh yes~!
Moon: Well either way. I'm sure we could properly commission roller skates for eclipse instead of taking apart the assists.
Planet: Well eclipse wants to skate now. Are you going to convince them otherwise?
Black Star: Plus it's not like every kid that walks in here will be skating with these. There's three more. It's not like they're completely out of stock.
Moon: It's still company property. What if manager comes in and does a item count?
Black Star: Well why don't you commission the skates so that by the time that could happen. We can just put these back together.
Moon: I suppose. I'll go send in an order.
Black Star: Thank you. Now get out of here!
Planet: Yah!
Moon: Right. Right.
Eclipse: Bye Moon!
Comet: Oh. I guess you'll skate with us later? See you tomorrow? Hopefully?
Moon walks away from the group and back down towards parts and service. I found evident on his face as he goes into the computer and starts ordering parts. With of course the unique commission of giant roller skates. He said some really there until he seems to have gotten all the extra parts and the roller skates commissioned. Turning off the computer with a sigh. His face getting more and more dreary.
There's a noise as someone clammers down the stairs. Moon giving it a soft glance. Sun stumbles down into the parts and service room. His face full of cheer as he seemed ready to announce something. At least until he sees moons upset face. Rays flicking back with worry. He approaches his brother slowly. Moon burying his head a while sun comes up behind him and gives him little pets.

It's great to be back in Japan. We do this when we pick where to go for vacation. And this year, we chose Japan. To be honest, for some reason, I was nervous about going back to Japan.

We haven't been back here since we were kids, but this time my cousin Reya and my brother Jay are with us. I told them I'd meet them at the skate park later and that I was going to go into this corner store.

I walked in and said hello to the cashier before going to look for what I wanted. I hadn't had pocky in awhile, so I went for the strawberry and chocolate flavors. Some people say chocolate tastes weird, but I like it.

I stepped up to the counter, paid, and walked out, only to notice something hit my foot. "Hey! Could you pass me that, please?" When I looked up, I saw a redhead with spiky hair and shark-like teeth. He was dressed in a red tank top. He was tall and muscular, with tattoos on his arms and vermilion eyes.

I picked up the board and handed it to him. "Thank you," he said, while displaying his fangs. This made me smile because he was so adorable. "You're welcome. By the way, nice board," I said.

He smiled and stared at me for a minute, which made me raise my eyebrows and wonder why he was staring at me like that. "Do you skate?" He asks, "Yeah, I was on my way to the skate park now." I responded with a nod.

His grin widened. "Oh, well, I guess I'll see you there." He says. As he skated down the street, I nodded and chuckled, making my way there myself. Carrying my bags, I finally make it to the park. I see everyone in and on top of the car waiting for me.

When I jogged over, Reya noticed me and nudged Nisha. "About time yo ass got here. All dem bags you got." She said this, glaring at me. "OK, but you know if I'm going anywhere, I've got to have food." I reminded her as I slid the bags into the back seat. She rolled her eyes as she walked around to the other side of the car. "Fat ass," she muttered.

"You right, this ass is fat. Thanks for noticing." I said, smirking. Deja and Nisha laughed, while Jay and Reya made gagging noises.

"Just bring your ass, please. We wasting time." She grumbled. I went to get my skateboard. As we entered the park, I sat down on my board next to Deja, watching Reya and Nisha skate. Deja and Jay don't really skate like that; they prefer chilling and watching us skate. But they are really good. I, on the other hand, love skating; I wouldn't call myself a professional, but I am an excellent skater. Yeah, I said excellent skater.

I was chilling because it was hot as shit today for some reason. I was starting to regret wearing this crewneck. I sat down with my drink and took it off, leaving me in a black bebe crop top.

"Are you not going to skate?" Deja asked me. I nodded and sipped my drink. "Yeah, in a minute." She hummed, returning to her book.

I chuckled at her and returned my gaze to Reya and Nisha. "You might as well get out there, because you know she's going to make you." Deja looked at me, pouting and huffing. She laid her head on her wrist and looked back at her book.

"You gotta stop being a bore, Deja; have some fun. I mean, it's ok to chill, but come on, we're in Japan. Turn up! You can chill at home." I said, smiling and throwing my hands in the air.

I rolled my eyes as she waved me off, going back to her book. I crossed my arms, tapping my foot, playfully glaring at her. She chuckled and nodded. "OK, I'll get up in a minute." She said.

Letting her book rest in her lap, she picked up the bag of skittles. "Ight, Miss Ma'am, whatever you say." Walking over to Reya and Nisha, I stopped hearing whistling and laughter. I looked in the direction of it, seeing a group of boys plus the red head I saw earlier.

I ignored them and started to skate. I was in a good 30 minutes, did a few kick flips, a few Ollie's, and then I heard them continue to whistle at me. I looked at them, smiling, and got back to what I was doing.

I stopped again, seeing Nisha staring in their direction. I turned and looked, and they were walking over here. I got off my board, picked it up, and walked over to Nisha, standing beside her. As they got closer, I got a good look at them, and some of them looked vaguely familiar.

"Wassup, ladies, I couldn't help but notice you all over here. The name is Denki." He had piercings on both ears, a nose ring stud, a smiley piercing, and one sleeve on one of his arms. "You'll have to excuse our little friend; he's a little special. I'm Sero," the dark-haired boy said. He has a few tattoos on his arms and a stud nose ring. "I'm Kirishima; we met earlier." I smiled and nodded. "And that's Shoto, Bakugo, and Midoriya." My face fell and my heart dropped as I stared at the three.

I stared at one of them, and my eyes widened. He had a curly green undercut. Piercings on both ears with dangling ear rings A hoop nose ring, and scars on his arms, along with tattoos. He had freckles brushed across his cheeks and green doe eyes.

It felt like my breath got caught in my throat. Nisha stared at the spikey blonde boy; he had crimson-red eyes; one of his eye brows was pierced with two separate metals; he had long tattoos on his sleeves; and he had a ring-lip piercing.

I felt someone behind, and I knew it was Deja, staring at the boy with the somewhat faded scar on the side of his face. I recognized their eyes from anywhere, one turquoise, while his right is a brownish dark gray. His eyes, in shape, are quite thin and reserved. He had red and white hair placed in a messy ponytail.

Then it just hit me like a ton of bricks. I looked back at the boy I was first looking at and breathed out, "Izuku..."

Join Me On My Escapade
Eager to share her love for ice skating and to satiate Thoma's concern over her bruises, Yuna invites Thoma to join her in Chinju Forest. Yuna's ice skating performance captivates Thoma, who eventually joins her on the ice for the first time.
Ice Skating Prompts - 1, 6 and 10
Warnings: None
Word Count: 3710
Yes I'm actually branching out to write for my other OCs and fandoms. I need a ship name for these two (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) Was gonna call them ThoYu or even YuMa but maybe I should think of something nicer for them
You can also read this with Y/N in place of Yuna if you're not a fan of OC inserts (´°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥ω°̥̥̥̥̥̥̥̥`)
If you’re new here, just know that I don’t proofread my stories. Once they’re done, I just post them as is, mistakes and all (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) Beginning and near the end are kind of awkward, didn’t know how to start or finish it σ^_^; Anyways, I hope you enjoy this one. I had so much motivation and inspiration for this one, thanks to the skating prompts.
Posted on AO3 as well!

Yuna’s eyes twinkled with excitement when she came by the Kamisato Estate looking for Thoma. Her voice echoed through the elegant halls of the estate as she excitedly called out for Thoma. The soft sound of her footsteps followed her lively calls as she made her way through the well-maintained corridors.
"Thoma! Thoma, where are you?" Yuna's enthusiasm rang out, creating a lively atmosphere within the serene estate. After a moment, Thoma appeared, emerging from around a corner with a curious expression, dustpan and broom in hand. "Yuna, what's going on?" Thoma asked, a hint of a smile playing on his lips as he observed her animated demeanor. Yuna's eyes lit up upon seeing him, and she eagerly grabbed Thoma's arm. "I've got something exciting to show you! You know how you’ve been worried about these bruises, right?" She gestured to the marks on her arms.
Thoma nodded, a furrow forming on his brow. "Yes, I have. What happened?" Yuna grinned, "We're going to Chinju Forest! I’ll explain everything on the way and maybe we’ll have some fun together while we’re at it.” Yuna exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Are you free for the rest of the day, though? I’d hate to take you away from your duties unexpectedly." Thoma considered the proposal, his gaze shifting between Yuna's eager face and the responsibilities that awaited him. "Well, it sounds like a nice idea, but we should inform Lady Ayaka. I don’t want to just leave without a word."
“Are you at least finished with your current task right now?” Yuna asks, glancing at the dustpan and broom. “I can wait till you're finished with this one.” Thoma smiled, placing the dustpan in his other hand holding the broom. He ruffled Yuna’s hair once his hand was free, “And here I thought you were eager to get me out of here.” Yuna swats his hand away with a groan, causing Thoma to laugh. “I’m just about done. Come on, let’s go see Lady Ayaka.” He takes her hand and leads her in the direction to Ayaka’s quarters.
The two stopped just before a door, Thoma called out to Ayaka, notifying her of their presence. Once they heard the approval to enter, the sliding doors opened gracefully, revealing Ayaka engrossed in delicate calligraphy. The two set foot inside the room and Ayaka looked up with a small smile. She was pleasantly surprised to see Yuna along with Thoma, “Oh Yuna, it’s so nice to see you again. Are you here on business?”
"Good afternoon, Lady Ayaka! And no, I’m here on a personal request.”
“Is that so? What is it, if I may ask?”
“I was wondering if Thoma could take the rest of the day off," Yuna said, trying to contain her excitement.
Ayaka raised an eyebrow, her pen pausing on the paper. "I don’t see why not. Thoma has been working hard lately. Even when we tell him to take it easy, he’s always overworking himself.”
“Milady…” Thoma mutters, slightly embarrassed at the call out. Yuna smiles at Ayaka, nodding in agreement to her statement. “Aha! See, Thoma, even Lady Ayaka says you overwork yourself!” Thoma lets out a groan, hiding his face in his hands as both Ayaka and Yuna share a laugh at his expense. “Alright that’s enough!” Thoma grabs onto Yuna’s shoulders, stopping her from making anymore fun of him. Yuna took the hint and quickly explained their plan for a quick adventure through Chinju Forest.
Ayaka considered the request, her thoughtful gaze shifting between Yuna and Thoma. After a moment, a smile graced Ayaka's lips, sharing a knowing look with Yuna. "Very well, Thoma. You may take the rest of the day off. Enjoy your time with Yuna, and please be cautious on the ice." At her approval, Thoma had a confused expression on his face. Ignoring the questioning look from Thoma, Yuna grabbed his hand before turning to the doorway. “Thanks Lady Ayaka, I’ll be sure to bring him back in one piece! You should join us next time, I miss dancing with you!” She expressed her gratitude, and with Ayaka's permission secured, the pair left the estate.
Thoma's curiosity got the better of him as they headed toward Chinju Forest, and he couldn't help but inquire about the ice and the purpose of their visit. The twinkle in Yuna and Ayaka's eyes during the permission grant had piqued his interest. "Okay, so why exactly are we heading to Chinju Forest? And what did Lady Ayaka mean about the ice?" Thoma asked, a genuine curiosity in his voice.
Yuna beamed, her excitement evident. "You kept wondering how I've been getting all those bumps and bruises, right? Well, we're going ice skating!" She grabbed Thoma's hand and began pulling him toward the path to the forest. "I do this a lot in my free time. Sometimes Lady Ayaka would join me when she's not so busy with her own duties."
Thoma's face lit up with relief as he finally understood the source of Yuna's injuries. “Oh that’s a relief. I was worried you got yourself into some trouble with someone.” Yuna gave his hand a reassuring squeeze. "You worry too much, Thoma, it’s cute.” As they walked, Yuna continued to share her enthusiasm for ice skating, describing the joy it brought her. Thoma found himself looking forward to the unexpected adventure, appreciating the opportunity to share in Yuna's passion.
Once they arrived at Chinju Forest, the towering trees were adorned with glistening icicles setting the stage for a picturesque ice-skating experience. Letting go of Thoma’s hand, Yuna walked up to the frozen river. She placed one foot on the ice, applying light pressure in her step watching the surface crack. “Hmm, not as solid as I like.” Channeling the power of her cryo vision, she lifts her leg up and slams her foot back down onto the ice to release a burst of frosty energy. The river's once tentative ice transformed into a more stable foundation as a layer of fresh, crystalline frost spread beneath her.
Thoma watched in awe as Yuna's cryo vision worked its magic, turning the once uncertain ice into a winter wonderland. The air sparkled with frost as Yuna tested the now reinforced ice, her weight supported by the newly formed layer, gliding across the frozen river with joy in her heart. With a sense of triumph, she turned to Thoma, an infectious joy radiating from her.
“Come on and join me!” She glides back over to Thoma with her arms open, ready to pull him onto the ice with her. “I know you don’t have skates, and I’m using my vision to move on the ice, it’ll be easy if I just pull you along.” Thoma chuckled, shaking his head in good-natured amusement. "I think I'll pass for now. You go ahead, show me your moves." Yuna grinned, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. “Alright, but don’t think I won’t drag you on the ice later!”
With a playful twirl, she began to skate across the newly fortified ice, her movements graceful and fluid. The winter air echoed with the soft sounds of Yuna’s laughter and her zori scraping against the ice, creating a joyful atmosphere on the frozen river. Thoma watched with admiration as Yuna demonstrated her skills. Her pink hair swirled around her as she twirled and spun, leaving a trail of frosty magic in her wake. The crystallized surface seemed to respond to her every movement, enhancing the enchantment of the winter wonderland they found themselves in.
As Yuna continued to skate, Thoma couldn't help but appreciate the joy she radiated. Her love for dancing, combined with the power of her cryo vision, created a magical display that captivated him. He found himself content to be a spectator, enjoying the beauty of Yuna's skating prowess against the backdrop of the winter landscape.
Sitting by one of the Tanuki statues, his attention was captivated by the enchanting sight of Yuna’s graceful skating. The snowflakes fell gently around them, creating a magical aura as they clung to Yuna’s hair and lashes. Each delicate snowflake, like glistening crystals creating an ethereal halo around her, seemed to enhance Yuna's own beauty.
Thoma couldn't take his eyes off her. Yuna's long pink hair stood out vividly against the serene blues and whites of the winter scenery. The contrast between the soft hues of her hair and the crisp surroundings painted a picture of grace and charm. Her lashes, delicately frosted by the falling snow, enhanced the dreamlike quality of the scene, making her look like a winter nymph amidst the frozen wonderland.
Yuna glided gracefully across the ice, enchanted by the winter wonderland surrounding her. Her movements on the ice were like a dance, and the snowflakes added a touch of enchantment to every step. Thoma was mesmerized by the delicate details—the way the snowflakes danced around her, the sparkle in her eyes, and the subtle blush on her cheeks from the winter chill.
Yuna noticed Thoma's lingering gaze and gave him a playful smile. "So what do you think? Enjoying the show?" Thoma, momentarily lost in admiration, blinked and smiled back. "Yes, absolutely. You just... you look like you belong here, surrounded by snow and ice." Yuna giggled, the sound echoing through the winter air. "Well, maybe I was a snow fairy in a past life."
Thoma hummed in response, as Yuna skated closer to the edge of the frozen river. “Oh but I am glad you enjoyed it. Though I did say I was going to drag you onto the ice. It would be a waste to make use of your free time just sitting there. Come on, just this once!” Thoma chuckled, realizing that Yuna was determined to share her love for ice skating with him. "Alright, you win. Teach me your ways, Yuna."
Yuna's eyes sparkled with excitement as she convinced Thoma to try ice skating for the first time. The promise of a fun experience on the frozen plane seemed to be too tempting for Thoma to resist. "Well, come on, come on!" Yuna practically hopped over to Thoma, her infectious enthusiasm bubbling over. Her cheerful smile was so bright that it was almost blinding. Thoma couldn't help but laugh at her boundless energy. "Haha, okay, okay. Calm down, Yuna," Thoma chuckled, giving in to her contagious spirit. He took her hands, ready to be guided onto the ice. However, before Yuna could pull him onto the frozen surface, he lightly tugged her hands back.
"Hold on, how am I supposed to stand without slipping, exactly? I know you have your vision, but surely that won’t help me keep my balance." Thoma raised a playful eyebrow, teasing Yuna with a mock expression of concern. Yuna grinned mischievously, "Don't worry, Thoma. I'll be your guide on this. Just follow my lead, and you'll be skating like a pro in no time!" Thoma couldn't help but chuckle at her reassurance. "Alright, Yuna. Lead the way. But go easy on me, okay?"
Yuna openly giggles in response, “Don’t worry, I’ll go over the basics! It’s as easy as walking. Now come on, let’s go.” Thoma was a bit hesitant, listening to Yuna patiently explain the basics, taking hold of her hands for support. Tentatively stepping onto the ice, Thoma wobbled, struggling to find his balance in the unfamiliar realm of the frozen river. As they glided onto the ice together, Yuna guided Thoma through the wobbles and stumbles, turning each misstep into a shared laugh. Thoma, gradually finding his balance, began to mirror Yuna's movements, their laughter echoing in the crisp winter air.
Yuna and Thoma glided hand in hand through the forest, the serene atmosphere and the crisp air adding to the magic of their shared moments on the ice. “You’re doing great! We’ll keep at this pace for now until you’re more comfortable moving a little faster.” Yuna’s voice was quiet but still uplifting. Despite the nervous pressure in his chest, Thoma let out a small laugh, “This doesn’t seem so bad. Learning how to balance and move forward was pretty easy.”
Yuna, still gliding effortlessly, winked at him. "Just wait until I teach you a few tricks, Thoma. We'll turn you into an ice-skating pro in no time! Nothing to be worried about.” Their laughter echoing across the ice until a sudden misstep from Thoma sent them tumbling onto the cold surface. A surprised gasp escaped Thoma’s lips as they fell backwards. “Whoa—!” Yuna, quick to react, thrusts her hands forward, cradling the back of Thoma’s head to protect him from the fall.
They landed on the ice with a muffled thud, the shock of the impact reverberating through both of them. As seconds passed, the two of them began to recover their bearings. The position they were in when they fell left Yuna awkwardly straddling Thoma with her hands still holding his head. The unexpected closeness caused a flush to spread across Yuna's cheeks, and she quickly moved to sit beside him.
"Ouch, that was unexpected," Thoma said, wincing slightly as he adjusted himself on the ice. Yuna nodded, her cheeks still tinged with a rosy hue. "Are you okay, Thoma? I didn't mean for that to happen." Thoma chuckled, trying to ease the tension. "No worries, Yuna. It's all part of the learning process, right?" Yuna nodded, a small smile playing on her lips. "Right! But, you’re really alright? No serious injuries I need to worry about?”
Thoma grinned, appreciating Yuna's concern. "I'm alright, Yuna. Just a bit surprised, that's all. No serious injuries to worry about." Yuna's expression softened with relief, and she let out a small sigh. "Phew, that's a relief. I was so worried I might have hurt you." Thoma assured her with a playful smile, "No harm done. I should have been more careful with my footing. Guess I still have a lot to learn about ice skating."
Yuna chuckled, her laughter echoing across the frozen surface. "Well, it's all part of the process, right? Besides, now I have another story to add to my skating escapades." Thoma nodded, the two of them sharing a moment of camaraderie amidst the snowy landscape. "Definitely. And I have a feeling becoming an ice-skating pro might take a bit more time than we thought." Yuna grinned, her playful spirit undiminished. "No worries, Thoma. We'll get there together!” Her hands happily clasped, expressing a promised determination.
Concern etched Thoma's face as he observed the redness on the back of Yuna's hands from their unexpected fall on the ice. "Yuna, your hands. Let me take a look at them. We should make sure there's no serious injury," Thoma insisted, his voice filled with genuine worry. Yuna smiled warmly, still holding onto her determined spirit. "Thanks, Thoma. But don't worry too much. I'm tougher than I look." Thoma chuckled, "I don't doubt that, Yuna. Still, let's make sure those hands are taken care of."
Yuna appreciated Thoma's kindness and nodded, extending her hands for him to examine. After a careful examination, Thoma gently cradled Yuna's hands in his own, his touch reassuring. "It doesn't seem too serious, but we should head back so I can properly tend to them. I don't want any bruising to get worse." He got up, ready to pull Yuna along but lost his footing, nearly face planting into the frozen ground.
Yuna's laughter echoed through the snowy air as Thoma nearly slipped while attempting to guide her off the ice. Her quick reflexes kicked in, and with a playful giggle, she took hold of Thoma's shoulders, gently steering him toward the more stable ground. "Careful there, Thoma! It seems the ice is not done with us yet," Yuna teased, her eyes sparkling with mirth.
Once they were back on the forest ground, Yuna was about to take a step toward the path leading to the entrance of the forest, before Thoma tugged on her hand swiftly turning her back around. “Whoa! Thoma, what’s up? You okay?” Thoma looked down at Yuna's knees with concern evident in his eyes, noticing the damp spot on her stockings. "You landed on your knees too, right? That was a hard landing you took, I just want to make sure you're completely fine." Yuna gave Thoma a grateful smile. "You're sweet, Thoma, but seriously, I can manage. This isn't the first time I've fallen hard on the ice. It can be tricky, but it's always worth the fun, bruises and all."
Thoma insisted, "I know, but it's not just about the bruises. I want to make sure you're comfortable on the way back, and walking through the forest with sore knees might not be the most pleasant experience." Yuna sighed in playful defeat, realizing Thoma's point. "Alright, you win. I suppose a piggyback ride wouldn't hurt."
Thoma grinned and bent down, allowing Yuna to climb onto his back. Once she was settled, he straightened up, making sure she was comfortable. "Comfortable back there?" Thoma asked with a chuckle. Yuna laughed, "Surprisingly, yes. Lead the way Thoma!"
As Thoma carried Yuna on his back, making their way through the forest, Yuna couldn't resist a playful teasing. The pain in her hands and knees weren’t unbearable, but she seized the opportunity to make light of the situation. "Hmm, something tells me you just want to leave early. Are you sure you're not just using this as an excuse?" Yuna teased, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. "I mean, it's not like they hurt that much. You're not trying to escape the wilderness, are you?" Thoma chuckled, his steps steady but with a hint of mock offense. "Now, Yuna, that's not fair. I'm genuinely concerned about your well-being. Bruised limbs or not, I want to make sure you're comfortable."
Yuna grinned, enjoying the banter. "Uh-huh, uh-huh, sure. You just can't handle the wild, adventurous side of me, can you? Are the trees and the open sky too much for you, Thoma? You really wanna go back to dusting shelves and mopping floors?" Thoma rolled his eyes playfully, "Oh, please. I can handle the wilderness just fine. But when it comes to a lady's comfort, chivalry demands I prioritize that over a scenic stroll." Yuna laughed, the playful exchange lightening the mood. "Alright, Thoma, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. But just know, I can survive in the wild just as well as you!"
As Thoma carried Yuna on his back through the surroundings of Chinju Forest, the atmosphere was filled with a mix of tranquility and the occasional crunch of snow. Yuna couldn't help but feel a surge of warmth and gratitude for Thoma's considerate gesture. Her bruised hands rested gently on his shoulders, and she couldn't deny the tenderness in his actions. Despite the situation, Yuna found Thoma's caring demeanor absolutely adorable. She felt a sudden burst of overwhelming affection for the young man who carried her so gently. Her heart swelled with appreciation for his kindness.
"Thoma, you're just too cute, you know that?" Yuna remarked with a giggle, her voice filled with affection. "Carrying me like this and being so sweet about my silly bruises. Like my own personal knight from those old Mondstadt fairy tales you told me about." Thoma chuckled, his steps steady and sure. "Well, I'm glad you think so. I just want to make sure you get back to the estate safely and take care of those bruises." Yuna nuzzled her face against Thoma's neck, her heart fluttering with adoration. "You're the best, Thoma. Seriously! Ugh, I never knew someone could be so adorable while taking care of someone else!"
Thoma couldn't help but chuckle at Yuna's enthusiastic reaction, her adorable squeal reverberating through the air. As she smothered her face into the back of his neck, her limbs wrapped around him in a tight embrace. The unexpected declaration of his cuteness and the sudden hug caught Thoma off guard feeling a warm flush spreading across his cheeks.
"You're just so cute! Aarghh, I'm gonna bite you!" Yuna declared, her voice muffled against his neck. Thoma couldn't contain his smile at her affectionate antics. Yuna leaned forward just enough to playfully bite his cheek, causing Thoma to stumble slightly in embarrassment. A red hue dusted his cheeks as he tried to maintain his composure. "He-hey, stop! I might drop you!" Thoma protested, his voice a mix of embarrassment and amusement. He adjusted his grip on Yuna, making sure she was secure despite her playful nibble. Yuna giggled, her embrace still tight. “I told you I was gonna bite you!”
“I didn’t think you were serious!”
"Expect it next time! You’re lucky I didn't bite too hard. You're like an adorable puppy, and I can't resist!"
Thoma couldn't help but laugh along with her, appreciating the lighthearted moment with a slight blush on his cheeks. He continued to carry Yuna with unwavering care. The duo continued their journey back to the Kamisato estate, the playful interaction adding a delightful touch to their relationship. As they approached the estate, Thoma couldn't help but feel a warm fondness for Yuna's infectious enthusiasm and the unexpected joy she brought into his day.
He turned his head just enough to see Yuna resting her head on his shoulder, eyes closed with a content smile. Her embrace conveyed a sense of security and warmth that Thoma found surprisingly comforting. The sight of her contentment warmed his heart, and he found himself appreciating the simplicity and genuine connection of the moment. A smile made its way on Thoma's face when Yuna opened her eyes, meeting Thoma's gaze with a playful twinkle. A light blush adorned her cheeks as she nuzzled her face more into his neck. Thoma's heart skipped a beat, feeling a tender and unexpected closeness with Yuna in that serene moment.
The snowy path to the Kamisato Estate felt like a sacred journey, each step carrying with it the shared experiences and unspoken understanding between Thoma and Yuna. As they approached their destination, the serenity of the snowy evening mirrored the quiet joy that had blossomed in their hearts, leaving them with a memory to cherish and a connection that went beyond the cold touch of winter.

December 18th, Ice skating.
Tumblr media
Ice skating was something that was new to you, but something that you really wanted to give a try. Matthew has been ice skating for many years and is more than happy to help you learn.
Matthew helps you get out onto the ice. He's wearing a black coat and you're wearing a pink one. He's very happy to be holding on to you as he teaches you how to skate.
"Please don't let me fall, Matthew. I have been told that falling on the ice is worse than falling on concrete and I don't want to be all bruised up and in pain for Christmas." You were babbling on nervously as he brought you deeper into the middle of the ice rink.
You knew that Matthew would never really let you fall. He didn't want you to be in pain, especially not this close to Christmas. So you knew that you were in good hands with him. Literally, you were in his hands right now, as he was holding on to you firmly, but still softly somehow making sure that you did not fall.
"Don't worry, I won't let you fall. I will make sure that you are safe the whole time and you are going to be a great skater. You might even be able to skate better than me" he told you.
"I doubt that's possible. I've seen you skate. You're almost a professional. I don't think I'll ever be that good, but I really am looking forward to trying. It's something that I've always wanted to do. Maybe then I can even get a pair of those skates that are pink with little pom poms on them."
Now you are truly getting excited. You knew that it was something that Matthew could teach you. He could teach you anything. Things that you never thought that you could ever learn. Just look at everything that you've already done this year. And ice skating is just one more thing that he is introducing you to.
You're so excited about the many new adventures that you have had and the many more adventures that you're going to have in your life together.
"Of course, if you want pink ice skates with pom poms, you can have them. You can have any color ice skate with any color pom poms you want," he told you with a smile, before kissing you and pulling you even farther out into the ice rink.
"Why are we out so far, honey?" You asked looking back to see exactly how far into the middle of the rink you were. You are now right in the center.
"because you need room to skate. You can't just skate right along the edge there. You won't make it very far sweetie"
After about an hour, Matthew loosened his grip on you. A little bit later, you were finally comfortable with trying to skate on your own. You did wonderfully, just like he knew you would.
Matthew was beaming with pride as he taught you how to skate, something that he knew that you could do.
" So I guess I'm getting you some pink ice skates with pink pom poms for Christmas, huh?" Matthew asked you with a chuckle.
"I'm a size 7" you told him with a smile before skating around him.
The two of you had a wonderful time ice skating together.
"Would you like some hot chocolate on the way home?" Matthew asked you.
"Oh yes, I would love some to warm me up after such a cold day on the ice."
So on the way home, Matthew stopped off at Starbucks and ordered two hot chocolates. You went and sat down while the hot chocolates were being made.
When Matthew came over to you, you couldn't help but laugh as he placed the hot chocolate down in front of you and sat down to sip his getting whipped cream all over his nose because there was more whipped cream than there was hot chocolate.
"What did you get a whole can of whipped cream? Is there even any hot chocolate in there?" You said, laughing so hard you almost fell out of your chair.
"Yes, there's hot chocolate in here I like with cream. What's the matter?" He asked you, wiping the whipped cream from his nose.
"Nothing is the matter honey. Everything is perfect. I love you so much. I love my whipped cream loving husband." you told him with a giggle.
When you went back home. Matthew couldn't resist Gently tossing a very loosely packed snowball at you. Trying to start a snowball fight. Pretty much the only snow activity you haven't done this year. We felt bad for you. I for getting you cold and slightly wet after warming you up. With the hot chocolate. so he took you inside and drew a nice hot bubble bath to take together.
You both relaxed in the hot vanilla scented water. The steam filled room lit up by only the flickering Candlelight from the many candles that Matthew had lit in the bathroom.
You melted into his touch as he wrapped his arms around you. Giving you small kisses to your neck and shoulders. Both of you pretty worn out from your day of ice skating. you both managed to get enough energy to get out of the tub and get into your pajamas.
Matthew picked out the movie tonight, The Muppet Christmas Carol, one of his favorites. Once he was sure that you were nice and comfortable in bed, he put the DVD into the player. then got into bed next to you and wrapped his arms tightly around you.
This is one of his favorite movies. Unfortunately, the two of you were so worn out from your day of icy fun that you only made it a total of 17 minutes into the movie before you were both asleep. No worries though. There was still plenty of time to watch the movie.
and you needed your rest because you both knew that tomorrow would be yet another magical December day.
