Vent abt smth that gets on my Nerves

#tried bringing up to mom like. hey how could I bring up coming out to family. and she was like visibly uncomfortable so I was like dw I’m no #gonna like try to ruin Christmas with it or some shit I’m just. nervous u see. and I’m sat there anxiety rambling abt it because oh my god.#and she pulls out the fucking. ‘can’t you just be a person?’ mom I am a person already. the problem is. the PROBLEM IS. I finished the stripe B)

#well. like.#I actually did like half an hour ago and now I’ve spent the past half hour winding the next yarn colour into a ball #you see the blanket has a previous incarnation which was shit and bad #and I decided not to put myself through the hell of unwinding it All At Once so now instead im doing it colour by colour #so before i move on from one stripe to the next I have to first wind the next stripe into a ball #and the old blanket is so badly made that it takes a really long time because the yarn is like. all tangled up in itself #ALSO I FUCKED UP MY FINGER SO BAD MAN #I won’t go into detail because thinking about it has my anxiety acting up and I know I’m not the only person with Issues on here #*into detail about The Causing Of The Injury. i am in fact going into detail about the following idiocy and annoyingness that it entails #but cw/tw for like. I’m talking about a minor injury in the form of a small cut/scratch #but basically i fucked around and found out a bit too hard earlier today and now i have like a. shallow cut. scratch. whatever running along #my left middle finger. (also because this is tumblr I will add please note it was not on purpose I was genuinely just being stupid as hell.)#it is relevant that it is specifically my left middle finger. why you may ask? well. i am right handed. so i hold my crochet hook in my #right hand. and as a consequence my yarn in my left. and my yarn runs between. you guessed it. my middle and index fingers. meaning it runs #right above my middle finger knuckle. which. you guessed it. is where my little scratch cut is. and I was AGAIN an idiot so I was not #wearing a bandage. (thought it was fine because it had already kinda scabbed over.) and then i get off my what. 2? 3? hours of crochet and #go to brush my teeth and im like oh wow why is that all irritated. and then im like. OHHHH FUCK I HAD SCRATCHY WOOL YARN RUNNING OVER IT.#so yeah I am adding unscented soap And saline to my shopping list for tomorrow !#and praying to every god on earth and beyond it doesnt get infected #(it probably wont like. ive had cat scratches that were realistically probably worse than this. plus I’m taking vitamin gummies that are #specifically immune system boosting since like a week back because I got tired of getting a bunch of colds so hopefully they will also help #my nice little white blood cells fight off any bacteria here :) )

Anyone else having an absolutely unhinged week or is that just me

#i have gone from having a reliable and secure professional job with a pension plan and benefits to completely unemployed in 4 days #(by choice. i got in an argument with my boss about responsibilities and i was like ‘look this is stressing me out to an insane level #and i don’t think i can do this. i don’t think i’m right for this. i’m going to resign’ and now i’m looking for retail jobs)#and on some level i regret it. like there’s so many things i never got chance to do and maybe i should’ve given it longer?#but my boss wasn’t budging and didn’t try to convince me to stay and i was just like.. fuck this #and literally every time i’ve seen my best friend this week (which has been several times because we’ve both just been like ‘do you want to #go for a walk so we can scream in the countryside?’ and the other person has been like ‘omg yes’) she’s had a fresh tragedy to tell me about #her niece had a miscarriage; her sister-in-law (niece’s mom) is booking herself into a hospice and both family dogs are sick #one is wearing a cone and might have to lose her eye; the other is probably dying #it’s just way too much #and i accidentally insulted her daughter’s dad and the little girl shouted ‘MY DADDY!’ indignantly #and i was like.. oh god. why did i never think about the fact that of Course she can understand me #and yeah her dad is a waste of space but she does usually see him at least once or twice a week and she adores him #it is not up to any of us to poison her against him. we shouldn’t be doing that. this situation is fraught enough #like it is bad enough that he wants to take my friend to court to get unsupervised visits….. if she cheerfully says ‘auntie ellen said daddy #is a bastard’ anywhere in his vicinity this shit is about to go pearshaped #i just am so tired. i want to abscond. i wish i’d stayed in america #i think next steps are like.. recharge. do some autumn cleaning (sort out clothes & donate old stuff i don’t wear to charity).#apply to retail jobs until i get something that isn’t awful and then just sit in it until i come up with a phd idea and can abscond #but in the meantime if you need me i’ll be watching daytime tv in my blankie #personal

my dread levels are sky-high this morning and I know exactly why: I am already freaking out about clothes for tonight lol. I went and reread this Woolf short story just now and am struck again by how exquisitely it captures the unbearable agony of picking out an outfit for a social event, feeling excited or positive about it, and then arriving to discover that the outfit is utterly Wrong and humiliating and bad, and you by extension are also wrong, humiliating, bad. total emotional meltdown that snowballs into a total existential meltdown. this is so relatable to me that I have to laugh aha even as I also claw at my face because SO RELATABLE. like I feel this in my BONES:

I have this memory of being in middle school and shopping for dresses for the first last & only school dance I ever attended, and I just had a total silent meltdown in the dressing room and then sobbed all the way home and said to my mother WHY CAN’T WE BE BRAINS IN JARS I WISH WE HAD NO BODIES OR CLOTHES I WISH WE WERE BRAINS IN JARS. these days I have largely moved beyond my ‘wish to be a brain in a jar’ phase but all it takes to plunge me right back into it is an unfamiliar social situation where I don’t fully understand the dress code or the framework of expectations through which other people will interpret my clothes. really makes me feel like I am losing my goddamn mind and also my grip on reality & on my own identity lol. I wish we all wore sacks I wish we all wore uniforms I wish we were all brains in jars communicating via electrical signals

#the only way to master this is to decide well in advance what I am going to wear and then to allow absolutely no deviations from the plan #like I must be absolutely fixed in my mind and absolutely unwavering #i am leaning towards the dress and tights with a cardigan to dress it down #because I think it is better for my emotional state to be a little overdressed than a little underdressed #but we will see. i am doing laundry and then I am going to try on one alternate outfit (jeans and nice tshirt and cardigan) and decide #i already know I do not have the right kind of top #which is why I am leaning towards the dress #also I’m rereading the story again and I want to teach literature again soooo bad oh my god #that opening passage is six sentences! and look at how much it conveys!!! you have this unbelievably rich and nuanced understanding #of who this person is and how she’s situated in the world and how she perceives herself and how others perceive her and how bad the meltdown #is going to be!

#no bc like. i spend a Lot of time thinking. which isn’t a bad thing for me! i enjoy thinking and it does not bring me stress #often times I spend a lot of time thinking before writing these. like meditation to me #though I do find typing out my thoughts creates much more fleshed out thoughts that make sense bc I feel as if someone were to read it #they should be able to understand both the situation and my thought process and any other things which gives me a better view too #anyways I understand myself really good which is great! that wasn’t always the case #unfortunately. this does not mean that I am so smart about what I do and say #bc something will happen. I’ll know how I want to respond in a positive manner. and then I will be so very awkward and I’m like oh girl no #and what’s worse! i can be like. oh that comes from this. hmm. this will happen again #like for example! I cannot tell a person ‘I love you’ I cannot do it #i can only say those words as if they are a science specimen or if it’s like. not to be a fucking boomer but holy motherfuck i’m so tired of young queers on social media having temper tantrums about flags and words and fanfiction and just shit no one gives a fuck about in real life.

here’s a list of things i’ve encountered in irl queer spaces that no one batted an eye about that i have seen nuclear level freak-outs about on tumblr:

- trans man calling himself a lesbian

- trans man calling himself a femboy

- lesbian being married to a trans man

- trans man and trans woman calmly and respectfully talking about reproductive transphobia (me and my voice teacher who i adore)

- gay men in puppy masks simply existing

- trans woman not doing voice training/feminization because she likes her voice the way it is and somehow not “tRiGgErInG” the women around her with her scary deep Male VoiceTM

- queer people saying slurs in normal speech when we talk about history or community or for self identification

- talking about how cishets are shitty to us no matter how we identify and not policing other people’s language when they talk about their personal experiences

i am far from the first person to say this but oh my god go outside. meet other queer and trans people in person at queer events. if you can’t do that, see if there are any streaming events you can attend. but just get off social media. stop thinking of the queer community as this nebulous online thing with rules and regulations created by and for white tumblr teens. it’s a real living breathing group of people that has infinitely varied experiences that a 20 yr old white tumblr user will never be able to succinctly boil down into a one liner. definitions mean nothing. stomping ur feet on tumblr bc u saw a trans man use a word u don’t like or a trans woman like a thing u think is gross and bad is stupid and u should not do it. grow up and go do something fun.
