There were writings, scribbles, lines violently scratched out, followed by more scribbles. It was barely legible, disconnected, at times trailing off the page before a new line of words began.

I hate him. I fear him. I hate that I fear him. All that power. All that... condescension. Like I'm nothing. Brushes away like nothing. And he has her. She was once mine but she's closest to him. I mess up, I hurt her, she goes to him. Every. Time. At least it hurts less now that she's away from me. And I from her. He won. He broke me down. Tore me apart. Protecteding her from me. But it still feels like he can hear me. Up there. From the stars he can hear me. See me. Watch me-- He's watching this.

Upon realizing what he just wrote, he immediately takes out another Sparks Magic card and sets the page ablaze. With so much ink, so much black ink, used from scribbling and scratching out so much it takes longer to burn until...

Atem just looks at the small pile of ash on the table, staring at it.

"He saw that."

The implications of the Watchers literally being the viewers get really meta and strange really fast if you actually follow through to some of the logical conclusions and then put them in lore-speak.

For example: the fact is that the Hermits spend a long time, sometimes years, creating a world for the entertainment of faceless beings whose names are incomprehensible strings of letters, numbers, and random words. These faceless beings leave messages that range from exclamations of delight and approval to unhinged demands, judging and consuming the hermits' work as fast as they can produce it.

And then, at the end of a season, Xisuma and co. package up the world and gift it to the Watchers to entertain them until the hermits can travel to a new realm and begin their work anew.

When you take the traits of viewers and paint them over the lore of Watchers, you create a creature (species? monster? being?) that's far more fay and uncanny than pretty much any of the usual interpretations. I've said it before and I'll probably say it again: embrace the Watcher within you. Become the unsettling eldritch being you want to see in the world.

Viva and Branch are veeerrrrryyyy similar but complete polar opposites (personality wise-) they do share many things in common, I mean in charge of a secret tribe, lives in hiding, sorta feral looking, a fear of bergans- buuut their fear of bergans is taken differently. Viva hides and lives in complete fear of them. While Branch does the same thing except he also is infuriated by the bergans mere existence, if he had the right resources and help he wouldn’t hesitate to KILL a bergan ( the tribe understands his fear as well as the few pop trolls living there and they would do whatever it takes to help him) then again he would probably run and make sure everyone got away from the bergan worse case scenario move the village…..again.

(His people’s safety is way more important than killing a bergan unless it was a certain grandma killer….. foreshadowing~!)

I’m personally hoping that they don’t kill him this time and actually TRY to give him some form of redemption. But that’s probably asking for too much.

NO YEAH SAME HERE 😭 I think it would be a huge win for all the Eclipse enjoyers if the main cast actually decided to take the time to care and accommodate for him because I would absolutely kill to see Eclipse go down the messy, pain-filled path of "to be loved is to be changed" instead of just being murdered on the spot 💔
