Ravenpaw gosh ur design is so good I love it. I have Grackle’s lineart I just am too tired to color it so I’ll probably do that tomorrow- also definitely gonna draw them again with the squad

(ID- Ravenpaw is a white and deep purple cat with purple eyes and fangs poking downwards out of their mouth. He is sitting facing the left with their eye looking towards the moon which is bright with stars circling its center. Their back front paw is raised with the little toe beans shown as the same pinky red color that’s in their ear and nose. White is across their back, mane, tail tip, and chin with lighter lilac gray color on their legs and shoulders, head, back legs, and hair fluff. A color that is darker is on his legs, mask pattern, tail, and ears with pure black on their paws, ear tips, mid tail, freckles, and nose. He has a worried expression. Spotty, do you have some time to hear about my quimera fire/scourge au? I just had a good idea I think, and I want to talk about it! So, after blue and tiger try to kill fire (fire doesn't know blue tried to kill him, he thinks only tiger did it and blue was his savior) he leaches on the idea of red, spotted and blue being perfect and his protectors, afterall, they are the firsts ones to show kindness to him and the clan is kitty racist. So! I want Red to live longer! Because I need his death to be devastating to fire, therefore he can't die at sunningrocks. Coincidentally, I always thought the whole tigerclan thing came out of nowhere, I think leopardfur just deciding to form an alliance with tiger was a bit odd and I really don't like the 'actually she was in love' thingy. Here's my idea: leopard owes tiger. Why? Well because he killed oak for leopard! You see, I'm making this battle happen later on in the story, there's a border fight and fire, raven, tiger and red are caught in it. Red and oak fight causing red to push oak against some rocks, oak gets trapped but he's still alive and could make it, red runs to call for help, in their fighting they kinda got separated from the group and while he's away screaming for help, tiger sneaks in and kills oak. Red is... Weirded out. He didn't see it happen but... Oak was alive, and now he's dead. Leopard becomes deputy and now owes tiger big time. Raven does see this happen and he does tell fire! But at this point they both are basically super traumatized and way to scared to say anything (I am making fire to be kind hearted and nice but the poor thing will spend the entirety of the first... 2 and a half books? Mostly frightened out of his pelt) . What do you think?

I very much enjoy Raven's power of being able to 'hit da bricks' in a way, utter elopement, trapless scampered. Any notable ways they've used it before? - ❌

Lmao, yeah.. the powers they sport are pretty minute, but they can be big if they’re applied properly.

Sand and Jackdaw pick on them… a lot. One of the ways they do this is through setting up traps, tricks, or mean riddles for him - which results in them being able to crack such things at record speeds. It’s frustrating for them to have to deal with, but moreso like how a gnat is annoying than anything super prominent.

Is Raven actually sired by Stagleap? It’s one of my theories and they were assigned as Stagleap’s offspring on the family tree.

Mmmmm, it’s. Complicated.

I’m not quite sure how true this is, but the way I see it: Robinwhisker had an affair with Stagleap shortly after getting a litter sired by Patchedpelt for her and Freckledfoot.

Jackdaw is Stagleap’s, entirely, while Raven is mostly Freckledfoot’s (Patchedpelt’s) but still exhibiting some distinctive Moorsweeper traits - namely, the tri-split ears. The ear trait was a massive tell for Robinwhisker’s infidelity, but Freckledfoot still claimed Raven as her own because they were practically a little mirror image of her, and she desperately wanted one of the kittens from a litter she knew would probably be her last.

So what’s the relationship between Raven and his family? And how does jackdaw feel about this?

Raven is loved! As far as his elder siblings are concerned, he’s the baby of the family, riddled with anxiety and the result of a broken family (rather than the cause of it, as how they view Jackdaw).

Raven is horrified by how his siblings treat Robinwhisker and Jackdaw. Of course, he understands why, but he feels that Robinwhisker was punished enough, and Jackdaw shouldn’t have been punished at all. He’s actually rather close with Robinwhisker, as close as he can be anyway, and he does his best to act as a true sibling to Jackdaw… Jackdaw doesn’t often reciprocate, though, too engulfed by bitterness and the desire to prove himself to bother with his littermate who got the life he so desperately wanted as well.

Can’t detail too much on how Jackdaw treats Rust, though, since that definitely qualifies as spoilers ;)

How does Robin interact with Raven, if they have to

If they have to? It’s… awkward. Tense.

Raven doesn’t interact with Robinwhisker almost at all; Cherrystorm makes sure of it. She’s very involved with her little sibling, especially in the wake of Freckledfoot’s passing, and Raven is far too reserved and, quite honestly, uninterested, in entertaining the thought of trying to seek out Robinwhisker himself. They don’t acknowledge her as much of a mother, but they still recognize Jackdaw as their littermate. It’s… complicated.

From Bones post, what cats in OFND do you view as neurodivergent?

Please keep in mind throughout this list: When aiming to write about a community in which no listed name is a blank slate, in which everyone is a person with their own drives, passions, and history, it isn’t uncommon to find that some of said characters are neurodivergent. After all, if you look into a crowd of randomly selected peoples, you are more than likely to find someone who is as such, diagnosed or otherwise.

I fully understand and respect the controversy that comes with writing such characters, especially neurodivergent characters, and even more especially neurodivergent characters who have disabilities or other influences that have been demonized to the general public via one way or another.

I, myself, am neurodivergent in many different flavors. However, many of the characters that I will include within OFND do not fall under the same umbrellas in which I shelter under. For these characters, I still wish to portray them not solely as their neurodivergency, but as people, as the broad range of traits and experiences that they are and should be. For that, I turn to friends, helpful internet strangers, and detailed archived sources to best and fully portray their disabilities as accurately as possible in a way that affects their lives, but not their character.

I’m not sure that fully makes sense, but let me also note that I am fully accepting of criticism, advice, and any other helpful tips or sources to be turned towards when it comes to best representing these characters.

That being said, OFND is not a story about neurodivergency or mental illness; it heavily involves it, yes, but it is not a story specifically about such topics. It is a story about community, and within any and every community, things such as this are bound to crop up and make themselves known.

But the basic idea is that Starclan and all the spiritual stuff is at the lake, where the alliance originally resided. Also, leaders can only get 9 lives from the moon pool. How does it still look like they have nine lives in the forest territory? Well. Yknow berserkers. The Viking guys. And how they had ‘special mushrooms’ that would up their attack stat by 20? A mixture of that with a blood clotting agent, and it looks like 9 lives!

but anyways. Since the 4 founders are also now (pseudo)gods, the energy that they produce causes the kittens born around them(the lake territory is the range) to have special traits. Daisy and her kits actually have full grown traits cause they lived there their whole lives. Constant exposure to this energy will make you grow ‘smaller’ traits. For example, Raven(call) growing feathers along his spine and paws.

Fun fact: this is actually scarily similar to one of OFND’s very first drafts?? Originally the valley was going to be an oasis within a desert whose sands were charged with radiation, and living within the oasis offered protection, as the plants soaked up that radiation before it could reached whomever lived within it. Those who wandered the waste, though? Fully exposed.

Also I am in LOVE with the idea of them getting a surge of strength from mushrooms like beserkers… it kind of reminds me of that herb from the original Black Panther movie!! Plus it ties into the lore of the world so nicely… obsessed.

Can we get some fun facts about Jackdaw?

Desperately wants to prove himself as more than just the “product of an affair” that his older half-siblings were so ready to label him as. Due to his desperations, he’s overcompensating and sensitive, distancing himself from his littermate so as to not be “lumped in with a weakling like them”.

Even if he doesn’t have much time for hobbies outside of his strict, rigorous self-scheduling, pushing himself to the brink of exhaustion nearly every other day, he really enjoys doing things with his paws. Building, carving, weaving… flower crowns and daisy links are his favorite things to make, and sometimes he’ll leave some in Raven’s nest - though he’d rather die than admit it was him who did so.

One of the first official OFND designs! He’s changed a lot every since the public release, and I’m excited to give him yet another makeover, but his og design will always hold a special place in my heart. (And y’all will never get to see it because I drew it in 2016 and my style was TRASH)
