Do you happen to know how long it usually takes June to produce the English translations for Saezuru? I hope this doesn't come across impatient - I was just wondering! I've been so excited to buy an English copy of Vol 8.

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to that. And sadly, I'm certain June doesn't know the answer to that either. I don't know why it takes so long. I'm sure being a small operation they blew the wad on the licensing fees. But it most likely comes down to when the publisher decides to release the manga for foreign publication. We just have to wait patiently.

This is a completely different publishing house than the one that will be published vnc. But it's also INCREDIBLY COOL

Dungeon Meshi - Kahka Brud and The Island

Kahka Brud - Town adventurer's go through to arrive at The Island, where the dungeon was discovered.

The Island - Island situated off the coast of Kahka Brud, The Dungeon was discovered conected to the village's graveyard.

Merini (Or Melini) - The Village where the Adventurer's stay and make preparations before adventuring in The Dungeon.

Laios pointing up: Our hometown is farther north across the sea. It's a boring place with nothing but mountains and snow.

Marcille pointing to Kahka Brud: Everyone comes to the island through this neighboring town. It's the biggest one in the area. The Magic School Falin and I went to is there too.

Cythis pointing west talking about the canaries: We came from a city on the continent that lies northwest of here. Of the human races there 80% are elves. 20% are "other."

Kabru pointing east (tiny Kuro with Mickbell on his shoulders besides him): Utaya is… was far to the east of here. Humans and Demihumans are still fighting over the territory. Kuro came from that area as well.

Shuro point downwards east: The Eastern Islands are scattered to the southeast of here. There aren't many longlived races, and there's constant internal strife and wars between islands.

Tiny Izutsumi and Rin: We all have roots on different islands.

Over the years, it's been given many different names by it's various owners: Dwarfs, Elves, and tall-men. By now, most of these have faded away and it's just called "The Island."

Merini Village

Once a small fishing village, the discovery of The Dungeon has brought about drastic changes

Finally, Little Chu Wanning's Grand Entrance

Sue Zhengyong didn't try very hard to hold it in before letting out a deafening howl of laughter.

The child slapped the table, livid. "What're you laughing at?! What's so funny?!"

"I am definitely not la-ah ha ha ha, oh god, I can't, Yuheng, I told you to go to the Tanlang Elder to get that wound checked out, you just wouldn't listen--ha ha ha ha, I can't breathe." Sue Zhengyong roared with laughter, holding his stomach with both hands. "I've--I've never seen a kid with such a murderous aura, ah ha ha ha ha!"

This child was none other than Chu Wanning, who had awoken to find himself shrunken. The vine that had pierced his should at Jincheng Lake had seemingly been enchanted with some kind of curse that transformed those stricken into their five- or six-year-old selves. Thankfully, his spiritual power had not also diminished, or Chu Wanning felt like he really might as well have just died.

Hi MTX,

I am assuming you have read the announcements of Detective Conan (Case Closed for that matter) will be getting simulpub releases by VIZ Media after the launch of the VIZ Media app. I would like to know how you feel about the simulpubs and what do you think the future holds for fanscanlations of the Detective Conan manga?

While I do personally prefer the fan english scanlations, since they are more accurate to the original japanese text and doesn't use localized names ("Jimmy Kudo"), as well as respectful of the cultural references,... I do think that having official english simulpub of Detective Conan is a good thing. Especially for spoiler-avoiders like me, there will be a legal and easily accessible way to get relatively decent translations (that at least helps us get the gist of what is happening) the same day that the chapter officially releases in Japan. This will also make DC more accessible to the western market (especially US), which could mean a boost in the fandom (which is always a good thing).

I currently don't think this will mean the end of english fan scanlations, since they will by far still be superior to the official releases, and especially when it comes to theory crafting, the official translations will not be as reliable as the translations made by actual fans who are more keen on all the DC & japanese references. I will personally still read fan scanlations for that purpose, but I will most likely also read the official releases (so that I can at least lessen the risk of getting spoiled due to the waiting for fan scanlations).

As for how quickly we will be getting future fan scanlations, that's to be seen.
