WIP titles game!
Thank you @lithugraph for tagging me!
Rules: post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it! and then tag as many people as you have WIPs.
Oh boy, this is gonna be a long one but I'm so, so excited. (I'll list them all, even if I've begun to post some of them, just for clarity and shameless self-promoting, but won't include the rewrite/2.0 /translated versions I have in mind and/or in the WIP folder). PS: I'm so pissed my computer changed the creation dates of ALL the files when I transfered them on it, because I would have included that. Some of these have been going on for far too long.
Hetalia
Ambassy AU. (The document starts with We need a damn title.) PruAus. Oneshot. 2 pages so far.
AU Pianiste. PruAus. 7 pages so far, no idea if this is a multichapter or oneshot.
(Realized an article's bibliography is saved in the WIPs folder oops lemme just change that real quick)
C'est la faute à Voltaire. FrUK. Empty document.
Champagne in Amsterdam. Ensemble cast but mostly Romano/Belgium. Long oneshot, so far 10 pages.
Château de cartes. PruAus. Fun fact: I ended up using that title for the renaming of my (only) RusPru, originally titled You give love a bad name, when I decided to post it on AO3. So yeah, need another title for this one. 2 paragraphs.
Fine dell'estate. Spamano! Started posting it last year.
Golden Sixties Are You Lonesome Tonight. FrUK. Oneshot, 2 pages so far.
Golden Sixties It's Now or Never. Spamano, Oneshot, 13 pages so far.
Golden Sixties Love Me Tender. PruAus. Oneshot, 2 pages so far.
(Those three are indeed part of a serie, I just listed them separately because this is now the official inventory of my WIPs documents™)
I bet you look good on the dancefloor (also known as Flat White and Barristas for some reason). Spamano. Three drabbles written.
I miss you (which is actually just the first line of the doc, was too lazy to come up with a title). PruAus. One dialogue so far.
I'll take the rain. PruAus. One shot, 2 pages so far.
Moderato Cantabile. PruAus, ongoing (I promise!) publication on AO3!
Nave Espacial. Spamano. 1 page.
Not another teen movie. PruAus. 3 sentences.
Old. PruAus. 4 paragraphs.
OS Noël. I think that's SuFin??? 4 lines.
Patria - PruAus aka Zeitgeist. PruAus. This is technically Patria's 13th chapter, but it was always my intention to publish it as a stand alone oneshot as well. And since it's already 32 pages long (Patria is 65 pages long so far) and I'd say it's only half of it, it looks like an even better idea!
Patria. Spamano. Ongoing publication on FF and AO3 since forever/2018.
Pirates AU. I don't even know!!! It stars England though. 2 paragraphs.
Quatre mots sur un piano. PruAusHun, this is one of my oldest projects and I can't see myself actually writing it. 5 pages.
Renaissance. Spamano. Multichapters but like 5 max (initially planned 3). 30 pages so far. First two parts available on FF.
The Berlin File Die Berlin-Akte aka The Berlin File. PruAus. Publication started on both FF and AO3, this is one of my oldest WIPs: I started this on the drafts of my phone in 2015 🙃
The Winds Are Shifting. Spamano. Also one of my oldest WIPs, even though I only wrote a paragraph so far. Oh, and wrote it as a sonnet titled Tourne le vent (which is still in my WIP folder too btw) for an assignment in first year of uni.
Vincere Tenebras. PruAus. One shot probably, 3 pages so far.
Stucky/MCU
Damn the Weather. Stucky, ongoing publication on AO3!
The Void. MCU, but mostly Stucky. Ongoing publication on AO3!
Bagginshield
Bagginshield. Lolz. 6 pages, probably multi-chaps.
Misc.
00Q - Hunt-Brandt. This is a cross over. Guess the pairings lol. Multichapters, 11 pages so far.
Hymne à l'absent. Enjoltaire. One-shot, 3 pages so far.
Selfindulgent Dark Academia Short Story. Need I say more? Exclusively OC. Inspired by my fall-winter semester in Cambridge. 2 pages so far.
You've Lost That Loving Feeling. Ethan Hunt - William Brandt (Mission: Impossible franchise), it's on AO3 and I SWEAR I'll finish it. Some day.
Waiting for asks lovely people (please)
And tagging @like-a-bucky !

Tumblr media
little ruspru omegaverse au going on with @doomspiral that’s been breaking my heart. long story short, emergency mating pact between enemy officials in an active war zone leads to love and a baby, not particularly in that order. ivan’s getting them out of there and to his home in moscow, and gilbert is a feral protective parent.
yes, that is ivan’s coat and scarf <3

Ice Skating and Memories
My last contribution for @hwsrarepairweek2022
Plot: Prussia is forced to revisit some old memories in light of a new relationship.
Prompt: Free Day
Characters: Prussia and Russia
Ships: RusPru
Word Count: 1.8K
Russia knocked on the door of his chamber, even though the door was open. Prussia turned to look at him. He appreciated that Russia was so polite as to always ask permission, even when the answer was obvious.
He said with a sweet smile, “May I come in?”
It was polite, but ultimately unnecessary. They were friends, and Prussia would never tell him no, especially not while he was visiting on official business. He nodded and said, “I am always glad to see you. And I’m always happy to be in Petersburg.”
He meant it sincerely, and he wasn’t just saying it to reassure the tsar’s spies who were undoubtedly listening. Prussia knew with certainty that he was Russia’s closest political ally, but he also knew that nothing he could do him would make him too secure to surveil.  Since he always stayed in the same room, hung with blue damask in his honor, he was certain that there were holes in the walls to listen to him closely.
The spies must have had quite the stories to tell when Russia visited him in the evenings.
Russia stepped into the room and said, “The tsar is giving a ball tonight. Not for your arrival, but your timing is very good.”
Prussia did not particularly enjoy court events, but he was not going to pass up the excuse to spend time with Russia. He also knew that his own discomfort would be well balanced by Russia’s tendency to cling to the one person he could talk to easily. Though he had gotten better at masking it, Russia was not comfortable at formal events.
He said, adjusting his cuffs as he did so, “You know how much I like parties. I made sure to bring my best dress uniform for the occasion.”  Russia drew even closer and said, “I have a feeling that you will like this one even less.”
Prussia was puzzled. Surely one event was much like another, and all equally unpleasant. And since he could be sure that Austria would not be present, he could not think of another reason. He asked, “Why is that, Vanya?”
Russia looked almost sheepish as he stood there with his hands clasped in front of him. Prussia knew that he must be nervous. He answered, “The emperor has decided that it should be a skate ball. The imperial rink is already prepared.”
Prussia felt the blood drain from his face. He hated ice, and only grudgingly accepted it on campaign. But in a moment of frivolity, he could not imagine why anyone would choose it. He was quite certain that his face was showing all of his anxiety.
Russia bit his lip before saying, “I had a feeling that you wouldn’t like that.”
Prussia shook his head and glanced at his luggage looking for an excuse. He could say that he didn’t have the clothing for the cold, but he knew it wasn’t true. He had his fur lined jacket; he knew how to pack for a winter trip to Petersburg. He said, feeling that he must look paler than usual, “I don’t think I will be able to come.”
He would much rather have a solitary supper than face a sheet of ice. Russia tapped his fingers together nervously in a habit that Prussia knew all too well. He said, “That’s why I came to tell you. I want to persuade you to come. I have been looking forward to you coming for weeks; please don’t make me wait another night.”
Prussia looked up at his honest, pleading eyes and his resolve failed. He had found that the years had worn a weak spot in his armor when it came to Russia, and it was hard to tell him no. He tried, weakly, to make a point, “I don’t skate. I will look like someone let a newborn horse loose on your rink.”
Russia chuckled at the image, and then said, sincerely, “I skate very well, and nothing would make me happier than having you lean on me all night. I always feel stronger facing everyone with you there.”
It was a strong enough argument to persuade him. And he would rather not give the other reason that frozen surfaces caused him discomfort since it felt both irrational and weak. Prussia sighed and said, hiding any of his own trepidation, “I will do it for you. But, I may not be as charming as usual.” Russia smiled, and said, “You don’t need to be charming. Just come and be yourself.”
----------------------------------
There was a lovely crispness of early winter in the air. Prussia was certainly comfortable in his fur lined coat and uniform, but he could feel the cold biting at his cheeks. It was more bracing than unpleasant.
In other circumstances he would have been quite happy to spend the night in pleasant company. But even through the crowd, he could hear the sound of skates against ice. It made him pause to brace himself, to make sure that he did not show the ghost of the memory that was threatening to overwhelm him.
He could already see it in his mind’s eye.
A frozen lake in a forest. Then he hadn’t been in fine velvet and fur. He had been in chainmail and a rough woolen cloak. He could remember the feeling of the itchy cloth against his skin like it had only been the day before.
The feeling vanished as Russia laid a hand on his arm and said, “I’m glad that you came. I brought you some skates.”
He extended his hand with a pair of skates in it and Prussia stared at them for a moment without taking them. He had to shake off the memory before calmly taking them.
Russia noticed the hesitation and asked, “Are you alright? You look pale.”
Prussia had no desire to discuss the memory, since he knew it was going to be a difficult conversation. He never enjoyed rehashing the times that they had been enemies, not when things between them had become so comfortable. It never seemed like a good idea to remind Russia that they had not always been friendly, and that their first impression of each other had been violent.
He said, as he took Russia by the arm, “Don’t worry about it. I’m always pale.”
He could feel the way that Russia was still looking at him with concern. He could guess that Russia knew him far too well to believe such an obvious deflection, but he didn’t want to ruin a nice night with a difficult conversation.
Russia remained silent, and Prussia was grateful that he was pressing the point.
At the edge of the rink the gaslight gave the whole space a charming, romantic glow, especially with the number of couples gliding on the ice. If only he could enjoy it. But half of his mind was far away in a much less charming place, in a cold forest facing an enemy that he barely knew.
He was able to keep his mind in the present as he fastened the skates to his feet. He flashed Russia what he hoped to be a playful smile and said, “Are you ready to keep me steady, Vanya?”
He was hoping that the touch on his arm would keep him grounded. He would also be grateful for the aid to not show his ineptitude in public. Russia gave him a warm smile and said, “Of course.”
He extended his arm and Prussia gladly took it. Russia stepped onto the ice first and gently pulled Prussia forward. Prussia took a small breath in through his nose to brace himself before placing his foot on the ice.
Like a tidal wave, the memory crashed in on him.
The crack as the ice on a faraway lake. Like thunder but bellow his feet. Then he remembered falling into the icy water.
The shock of it made him shiver, though it was just a memory. He could feel the water again, ice cold even through layers of wool and armor.
He pulled on a shaky breath and looked down at his feet to remind himself that this ice was solid. It was a rink, not a frozen lake. And he was no longer a brash little knight who didn’t look where he stepped.
Russia said softly, “Gilbert, look at me.”
He put one hand gently under his chin and tilted Prussia’s face up to look at him. The sight of Russia’s violet eyes, so full of concern, was enough to bring him back to the moment.
He lied, trying to ease the concern, “I am fine.”
He was glad that he wasn’t shaking since he could still feel the pins and needles of cold water under his skin. He felt utterly cold, though he knew his clothing was perfectly warm.
Russia said frankly, “I know what you are remembering. I was there.”
He pressed his gloved hand to Prussia cheek. Prussia hated talking about when they had fought. He loathed to remember the overzealous knight he had once been, and he hated to remember how he had acted towards those around him. A childhood in religious service had taught him that very few people were worth extending a hand to. When he thought of the boy he was when Russia first met him, he could understand why it took so long for them to be on friendly terms.
But there was no way to avoid the conversation anymore, and he knew he had to be honest. He said, “I remember that you were. I was trying to defeat you.” He bit his lip before adding, “I believed it was my duty.”
He meant it as an explanation of behavior that he knew had been boorish. Russia continued to cradle his face as he said, “I don’t hold that against you. I’m glad every day that I pulled you out of that water.”
Then, without another word of explanation, Russia gently led him across the ice until they were tucked away in a corner where no one else could see. Prussia felt unsteady on his skates and found himself glad that he could lean on Russia. He was so steady, so easy to lean against.
Only once they were far enough away for anyone to see or listen, Russia turned so they were facing each other and said, “Would you like to know what I wrote in my diary that day?”
Prussia shook his head slightly. He could imagine what he would say if a little pest had tried to tell him to convert. He said, “I imagine you said that you’d kill me the next time you saw me. I would have.”
He remembered the anger on Russia’s face when he had pulled him from the freezing water. Russia shook his head, and said, “No, I wrote that I hoped we would become friends. I didn’t hate you at all.”
Prussia met Russia’s eyes. He could see the shadow of a lonely little boy in his face; one who was willing to extend friendship to someone who had been so hostile to him. He felt his heart pound faster at the thought. Russia’s earnest desire for connection and affection was something that Prussia found deeply touching.
He replied, “And is friendship what we have now?”
He knew the answer; friendship didn’t often involve stealing every moment that they could to kiss.
Russia smiled and said, “I think it’s more than that.”
He leaned forward and kissed Prussia softly. The touch of his lips vanished the vestiges of the memory and warmed his chest. The past hardly mattered when they had each other in the present. He deepened the kiss to drive away any thought of the time they had been enemies.
Once they broke apart, Russia said, “Now let me teach you how to skate.”

RusPru Week Day 3
Bandage
@ruspruweek
A soft slightly annoyed sigh fills the silence in the room followed by the sound of the closing of a door. This made Gilbert looking up spotting the purple eyes of Ivan on him. "It's not that bad, don't look at me like that", Gilbert already tried to make up excuses looking a bit away taking this chance to analyze his surroundings. It is just a simple room in the corner is a desk with some books on it and a chair standing there. He right now is sitting on the other side on the room of the room having messy hair and dirty slightly ripped clothes on and a wound on his arms. Gilbert is very lucky that he just got winged and nothing too serious happened. But he still in this weird situation not knowing how exactly to explain everything to Ivan without upsetting him. "Gilbert, Look I'm not here to ask any questions at all. I do, can understand that you try to meet Ludwig again, but that's now very difficult, and trying to sneak out of the east is dangerous and you know that. Now let me take a look at the wound"; Ivan said in a soft voice trying to ease the tension in the room a bit as he takes Gils Hand sitting down next to him and looks at Gilberts' arm. Ivan really can't bring himself to judge Gilbert for trying to meet his brother and he is not mad or anything, but it does make stuff more complicated for both of them. Gilbert nods "I know..but it was worth a try though and I got pretty far at least. Don't you have to write a report about this", he asked looking at his boyfriend being a lot more ease since he knows that Ivan isn't mad at him and they won't get into an argument. Gilbert really admires Ivan right now for how understandable and soft he is. As a response, Ivan just shakes his head slightly "No. This thing officially never happened"; he said cleaning the wound "That's gonna burn a bit", he said as he starts cleaning the wound with alcohol making Gilbert flinch slightly. Gilbert looks at him "But Ivan.."; he was about to protest that Ivan wouldn't make a report of his actions even though that is probably better for Gilbert himself, but he feels a bit bad for Ivan having to lie for him. Still, he chooses not to protest, since Gilbert knows that Ivan is aware of the consequences "Thanks", he just said watching Ivan take care of Gilberts wound. Ivan smiles softly at him as he puts Gilbert's hand on his shoulder so he could wrap the bandage easier around it "You're lucky that it isn't your dominant hand", Ivan commented as he finishes bandaging the arm putting Gilbert's hand away from his shoulder. Then he puts his arms around Gilbert pulling him close "I was worried that something happened or that they got you next time at least tell me!", Ivan demanded at this point just having Gilbert close to him feeling the relief that he knows Gilbert is fine and nothing too bad happened. Since he knew about it he was worried sick about the German. Gilbert looks at him "I'm sorry. I really didn't want to worry you, Ivy. Really, but I was scared, that if I would tell you beforehand you would have tried to stop me or get you into trouble too", he said cupping Ivans cheek now. Gilbert could see in Ivan's eyes that he was really worried and stressed "But I should have at least try it"; he said sighing leaning against Ivans embrace sighing again. "I know."; Ivan said looking at him "Hard times are happening, but it only can get better at this point, right"; he whispers to Gilbert even though he also says it to himself wanting to believe in that. Both of them talked themselves out spending some time with each other and now knowing the feelings about the whole situation of the other. After an hour Gilbert stands up "Ivan let's go home now", he said offering his hand to him. Ivan had a big smile on his face as he heard the word "home" coming straight from Gilbert's lips as he accepts his hand.

Names Headcanons. Nation’s REAL names are their nation names. America actually IS America. Germany actually IS Germany, so they consider those to be their names. But they do use human names, mostly for convenience sake – not every human being in their lives has to know they are a nation, so they come in handy.
The idea of human names is so old that, tho it used to be just for their humans, now they do use them in private conversations between each other, kinda how a human would use a nickname.
Additionally, I think Russia is not just called Ivan Braginsky (btw it really bothers me that this family name is not Russian! It makes nooo sense for the representation of Russia to have a Polish name, why? (EDIT: got info that if spelled with “y” it is russian, but if spelled with an “i” then polish, see the comments below the post) I like Kolosov, stolen from @espisayer ), he would also have a patronym (otchestvo ), as it’s an everyday occurrence in Russia and Russians call each other by name_patronym when they want to be polite/official, not mr_familyname. Otchestvo comes from the father and Russia doesn’t technically have one, so I headcanon it’s: Ivan Petrovich from Czar Peter the Great.
RusPrus Headcanons:
The Russian language loves diminutives and has tons of ways to make them. For example, just the name Ivan can be turned into Vánja, Vanjúša, Vánečka, Vanjúšečka, Vanjúška, Ivánuška, Vánʹka, Iváška. Russia calls Prussia with a Russian-like-diminutive of the name Gilbert: Gilya and when he feels very cheesy, Gilyushka. Prussia calls him mostly Vanka, as it’s the less cutesy form of his name.
When it comes to other nicknames, Russia calls Prussia Vasilek which means cornflower (Prussia’s national flower). When he is feeling a little more romantic-but-dramatic (totally a Mood for him), he would use Black Eagle (chernyy orel) as a nickname.
Prussia…well, that gets complicated, bc there is a ton of ridiculous sounding, overly long, cutesy ways to make a nickname in German and I think Prussia would take full advantage of that (as I generally Headcanon that nation’s love their languages and their quirks!). So we can have Knuddelbärchen, Mausezähnche, Honigkuchenpferd, Schmuseküken and so on :D Tho Prussia would probably use those mostly ironically, to be silly or sometimes on purpose in front of others to make them uncomfortable.
But besides those jokes: he likes nicknames having to do with bears, bc well you get it, the Russian Bear, and low-key loves using küken, bc it's cute and he likes birds, so when they are alone and it’s not about being silly, it's küken or bärchen.
