on the topic of arranged marriages in the post-canon, my dumbest and most inescapable headcanon is that falin and kabru get lavander married

partially out of my love of lavander marriages and the historical tradition of queer men arranging marriages between their lovers and their sisters

and partially because every time i see a labru baby fanart i think "the rumor mill believes that falin and kabru had an affair and the king legitimized his sister's bastard as his heir" and the comedy of errors that would result from trying to cover up kabru's pregnancy/fake falin's is hilarious to me

in lieu of having posted any writing/headcanons/asks in the past few days because i have been *so* busy and unable to do anything fandom-related which is terrible and evil, i have a poll out of morbid curiosity and self-indulgence. i've been meaning to ramble here about how i feel about DC's lack fo Deaf representation and which Batfam members i would personally make Deaf, but i am mildly curious about the larger opinion and now i will subject you all to the question, i would love to hear thoughts/opinions/headcanons on any specific choices. (would love d/Deaf/HoH opinions esp but i'm mostly expecting this to reach the hearing crowd, so opinions from hearing ppl are ones i'm very curious about. if you've never given it thought before you are going to now or else /lh)

considering the historical influences in the fashion of Dishonored (and the extent of nsfw fanfiction this fandom has) I’ve been thinking about the layers that would be, realistically, part of the daily dress

which means: dishonored seems to honour the importance of a vest in a properly dressed gentleman’s or lady’s wardrobe

vests were, and I cannot stress this enough, a mandatory part of an outfit, to the point of men wearing only vests if they could not afford a fully tailored suit (trousers + vest + jacket) and a new shirt and opting to only wear a fake collar under the vest for the illusion of a full outfit

shirts were underwear, so to speak. there were no occasions in ‘polite society‘ where one could only wear a shirt without a vest on top.

this is something we see mirrored in both dishonored games, though the style of the vests and clothing have somewhat changed, they still follow the same rules of vests worn with every outfit, as far as we can tell. (we could argue that Jessamine is not wearing one, or that some higher class women aren’t wearing vests under their buttoned up jackets, but since we don’t really see underneath we can’t judge.)

we see the vests be worn even by the Whalers in the first game (which in itself brings up many questions. are whalers, the actual whalers that capture and kill whales, held in high enough regard by the society that they made a vest part of their uniform? or is it merely something that is worn by all? something that every citizen of sound mind would don, were they to leave their house?)

there are a few exceptions to this, of course, but this whole thing came to be by asking a simple question

does the Outsider wear a vest under his leather jacket?

now, in the first game, his jacket is unbuttoned just enough for us to get a good enough peek at what lies beneath. which is to say: there is no hint of a vest underneath. judging by the vests in the first game, the fashion was that the vest would go up high, often covering collarbones or even having a standing collar. what we see on the Outsider is just... an unbuttoned shirt

it’s much the same in the second game, even if we examine his final concept art, his outfit consists of a shirt (more or less underwear) with most of the top buttons unbuttoned, and a jacket on top. no hint of a vest underneath

what I’m trying to say is that the Outsider is a slut

Fenrir is studying for his PhD in the University of Veritas Prime, yk writing his dissertation. This research question is about the Avgin Sigonian language as a thank you gift for Aventurine. (imagine caring for bro so much you dedicate your dissertation to bro)

And he literally just finished his masters and everything in a year, barely after getting out of Talia so it was very stressful for Fenrir and everyone could see it, especially Aventurine as he is the subject of Fenrir’s research. He didn’t take care of himself well and so Aventurine, taking time when they have their little session to remind Fenrir about his health and routine, just a small reminder. :3

Fenrir would forget most of them, which lead to Aventurine dragging his ass to bed or to dinner. But he has to have a catch for Fenrir to go, right? So he only spoke in Avgin Sigonian during those sessions. Fenrir gets to study the language while he rest as well.

And yeah, he turned off his synesthesia beacon so that he would know the language by heart - not by some translation. He wanted to be fluent in Avgin Sigonian for Aventurine. (FUCKKK OOFFFF)

He was invited by the Riddlers not so soon after, and they did wanted to mess up the remaining traces of Avgin Sigonian. Seeing this, Fenrir joined the path of Enigmata, despite being with Erudition, just for the initial sake he could prevent the Riddlers from touching Avgin Sigonian. However, upon joining the Riddlers, he realized there was so much more he could discover - thus using the Riddlers’ Project as his own research. Playing both sides, Enigmata AND Erudition for the fun of it.

“Sometimes I’m scared you forget that I care for you because I never say it. I might bicker and pester, which lead to me forgetting to remind you that I do think about you. You know I do, right?”

However, despite the Riddlers pestering, Fenrir refuse to let them touch Avgin Sigonian. Which the Riddlers understood - to a degree.

Dr. Ratio wasn’t happy with Fenrir’s constant teasing of being with the Riddlers - thus often scolding him. Well, since when does Dr Ratio not scold him? As Veritas’ only student that went to all of his classes and endured all of the harsh words, Fenrir had grown used to the man bluntness. He knew Dr Ratio doesn’t mean it that harshly, his way of teaching is not the gentlest but his intentions are.

Dipper’s thoughts on human Bill?

Of all the main shack crew, I think I've put the least development into how Dipper feels about Bill traipsing around. (I'm willing to take ideas!) Although overall he's like,

He distrusts him, he hates him, and he's VERY mad that Bill's getting along so well with Mabel. But eventually I need Dipper to willingly talk to Bill, because he's the most likely one to ask prying, interesting backstory questions. I don't know yet what will get him to that point. I think he'll be the last in the family to accidentally soften toward Bill.

In return, Bill literally piloted Dipper's body yet he could go a whole day under the same roof as the kid without thinking about him once. He'll tease Dipper when annoying him is funny and he'll play nice to keep himself in the Pines' good(?) graces, but in the cosmology of Bill's life, Dipper doesn't matter.

He calls Mabel "Shooting Star" no matter what sweater she's wearing but when Dipper switched hats Bill halfway forgot he's also a part of the anti-Bill zodiac. Dipper is Mabel's less fun womb roommate.

The fact that Dipper carries so little weight in Bill's mind—unlike Ford or Mabel or even Stan—is just another thing that irritates Dipper.
