11 - character headcanons

lots!

most go in my fics, but here’s a few

- odile keeping a notebook of all of the parties little quirks. she especially gets into it after the loops and starts to research the country for siffrin

- isabeau and sif make up their own constellations

- i’d like to think that siffrin had a sibling or two back on the island, which is why they so thoughtlessly would do anything to help bonnie and everyone else

- i don’t think mille and bonnie are directly from the island, but based on character design i think at least they had a parent who was

- euphraise is from the island. i’ll die on that hill

- while clearly everyone forgot about the island, i like to think those on the island didn’t forget about the world outside of it, and they’re still trying to figure out how to restore themselves back to the rest of the world

- on top of that, i don’t think it’ll ever happen. the wish that made it disappear was too strong and they’re just gone forever (sorry sif)

He would have one of those “historical baking” tiktok pages but it’s literally all just gladiator rations from the year 1238 or whatever

He wants to grow a beard but doesn’t like the texture of the hair with his helmet (I think either his va or someone in the cast mentioned his original design had a beard and it’s been living rent free in my mind)

He and Odile have matching friendship bracelets (I love this one soooo much I think Odile would make them but if anyone asks she would say Izzy did.)

He likes to garden, but he isn’t very good at it.

He tries to learn how to draw, and he eventually gets super good, because he’s trying to sketch the faces of Dona and his friends because he’s worried he’ll forget their faces.

Has done yaoi (this one is basically canon b/c his VA said that he committed colosseum yaoi and what she says goes imo)

I think he secretly really likes sweets and sweet drinks

do what makes you feel comfortable lovely. as i said before i love learning about your ocs, and im really curious as to what your process of creation and developing them is only if you feel comfortable of course answering this of course, if not then feel completely free to ignore this ask, its no problem. 🥰

you’re too kind ahh 💖🥺 i do wanna start sharing more about them because it’s supposed to something fun instead of stressful sdjksdjsdksdj plus i love my ocs so they don’t deserve to have me cringing about them yk 😅

very long answer under the cut, it got away from me LOL

i’m not sure if i even have a process when creating them? or well, i guess i have habits, but i don’t always build up a character in the same ‘order’... for example, when it comes to ocs i make for shipping purposes i almost always start from the general concept. like, when i already know who their love interest is going to be, i pick the dynamic i like the most with said love interest and i get a general idea of what my oc’s outer personality is going to be; same thing about their look (because i love the idea of contrasting character designs). then i start from there and build a full character with their own story, motives, and so on to the point where they can exist outside of the ship (they won’t, but they could dsjksdjk)! some examples would be my ted lasso oc Jules, blooming panic mc’s or any of my anime oc (though the only ones actually well developed atm are Jun and Atsuko).

in other cases, as it often happens with interactive fiction, i go in blind and play with an ‘empty’ character, and as i check out the vibes of the story and see whether i like the bold or shy personality choices i get an idea of the general vibe of the oc. starting from the vibe i then pick a faceclaim (i have several saved lol) and a design/name/backstory/etc... until i can play again with a formed character! it’s a bit annoying to do it this way but once the first part is over it’s already so much easier to play because i just have to let the character be themself. it also helps in the case of ifs with a lot of romantic options, since i simply let the oc vibe and pick a ro they work with sdjkdskj best example is definitely my kim from body count, they got away from me and i love that for them. same with reyna from the when twilight strikes. it’s time (and energy)-consuming but most of the time this method leads to some most beloved characters of mine so i’m not mad about it.

the most challenging scenario is probably when i have to create a character from scratch/almost from scratch, so like, for original universes OR (rarely) for ifs without demos 🤔 the easiest route in these cases is usually picking whatever blorbo(s) are filling my brain at the time, mixing them up, adding some tropes i want, and then start from this sort of patchwork character and add details until it’s a proper original one lol this is how i got Freddie and his sister Ryuwon, respectively for the ifs ear candy and straight red. Freddie was originally a copypaste of an anime character, but they ended up having very different personalities in the end; i developed Freddie more when having fun with a friend and shipping our characters together, and because we made them as childhood friends i ended up developing Freddie’s whole family, including Ryu! It’s a bit different when it’s like, RO ocs for my own story ideas because in that case I don’t wanna be influenced by other characters so I just start with a patchwork of tropes i want to see (that’s what happened with Leir, while Odile was mostly born from a mix of gender feelings + BTS’ black swan obsession at the time 😂)

so yeah, this is usually how it goes for me! there are very few exceptions, such as Edith; she’s my most developed character of all time and yet she is Nothing like she was in the beginning. when i first started twc and had to make a character for it, the ‘edith blake’ i made was very um,,, girlboss? i don’t know how to say it in a nice way but she felt like a woman written by marvel/the mcu lmao i cringe just thinking back about it!! ever since, she went through so many changes that instead of evolving she’s simply a different character altogether. she now exists in a bunch of different aus (twc revised, the exile, original music shop au, cyberpunk dystopia au, cat cafe au, hallmark movie au, etc...) and she maintains consistent characterization in all of them so i feel like i have achieved full mastery of mx edith lol

or another exception would be, “characters that came to me in a dream”, like my demon oc Spice. obsessed with him, love his energy, but boy do i not know where tf he came out from 🤣

as you can see, my oc creation process is just. Chaos! xx

Something came up in my head cus I too also have an oc based off of Odile and her name is Odile (not very creative w names) and I ship her with Silver! I want to make an interaction with them cus I think it would be interesting if that would be ok w you ofc ; u ;

3. What ideas come from when you were little?

HMMM ok. definitely when i was little i was very into like. “horror” but like, little-kid horror. i was obsessed with halloween and making up* monsters like cats with pumpkin heads and evil dolphins and were-saber-toothed-tigers etc etc which i think is definitely still something that has stuck with me & that i still draw inspiration from :> otherwise i honestly can’t think of anything 🤷

6. Anything that might inspire you subconsciously

ok so *i* couldn’t think of anything that might be influencing me because it’s hard to think about what might be influencing me without me knowing BUT erie (@ribombeee) thinks probably overwatch even tho i didn’t think that it had really influenced how i draw. apparently i drew so much overwatch fanart (according to erie) that it seeped into my art style without me realizing. it says alex has “mercy overwatch hair” which yeah, now that she points that out, i can see it

8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in?

there are some ocs of mine who i thought i would want to make full comics for/develop their stories more that at this point i haven’t touched in a WHILE…the best example of that is probably odette and odile who i do still love dearly but the urge to create for them has dwindled. i wrote part of a comic script for them when i was in school but it was only the first ten pages of a hypothetical graphic novel. who knows if i’ll ever touch that again. you get the idea.

11. Do you listen to anything while drawing? If so, what?

YES, yes, i’m the kind of person who has a brain that needs stimulation from a couple different sources especially when i’m trying to do work, which includes art!

usually i will have youtube or a podcast on in the background, something that i don’t really need to look up at very much so that i can pay attention to my drawing but i have some kind of words that my brain can hook on to. sometimes when i feel really inspired by what i’m working on and/or i feel inspired by a song specifically i will listen to music while i work! typically though, i listen to “true horror stories” on youtube. maybe that’s lame idk but those are my favorite

30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated?

well one of my favorite pieces that i’ve done semi-recently is my comic cover i did for my ocs. i understand oc content is always going to be less popular than fandom content and when it comes down to it i am making art for myself, especially when it’s of my characters! on the other hand i am quite proud of it and i think it’s one of the better pieces i’ve ever done so i’m happy to have the opportunity to show it to other people :3

Leir: there are two possible scenarios here– either it's a busy morning and they don't notice until later, in which case you'll probably see them sprinting down the palace halls/wherever they are to get their kiss asap (and be a tease about it), or they simply do not let mc forget 😌

Odile: being upset about something like that is not xyr style, especially because xe doesn't want/need to be at the center of the mc's attention at all times and xe understands they might forget! still, xe does enjoys their little everyday rituals; the day after xe'd be the one to kiss the mc good morning 🥰 something something love as dedication

Officiellement diplômé de l'Université Côte d'Azur 🎓 technically the official date is 08 Nov. 21 but I only got my diploma today (and there is no graduation ceremony here) 😅🎉 it’s now time to move on… CMOM -> LPMC -> NICE Lab have been my comfort zone/home since 2011, but I need to take some risks and dive into new adventures where my skills can be more useful and where I can still improve my skills… with a heavy heart but with full of hope, “Le S” is now officially signing off… I will forever be grateful to all my colleagues in Nice especially to Fred, Sonia, Thierry, Odile, Caroline, Arnaud, Sabri, Gabriela, and Herve* 💙🤍❤️ Doing research and teaching at UNICE and UCA were the best times I had in Nice.
