Ok ok ok I think I've decided on version 2! Thoughts under the cut, and I am pretty chuffed with myself

Jasmin -> Tiana

Jasmin gets to go first, with a pre-dead parent and expectations that no other princess will have. She can carve her own path, and the story.

Tiana then gets the Wrong Lesson from her criminal/politician parents and gets Overly Responsible.

Tiana -> Moana

Plus I think Jafar could pull double-duty as Dr. Facilier, now with a more personal grudge.

Tiana tried to enforce her ideals about family and responsibility, and her ties to magic give Moana a little magical-world boost. Plus being surrounded by frogs gets Moana in the mindset to become a conservationist.

Moana -> Anna & Elsa

Plus Moana now gets a Fun Grandma!

Having a kid with an island elemental gives the kids Summon Volcano powers. It's not ice powers, but again maybe Tiana's magical ties came through so Elsa can be an icy spellcaster. I always kinda wanted Anna to have fire powers ngl.

And I thought it was really funny to have the warm islander raise kids who run away to the snowy mountains.

Anna & Elsa -> Cinderella

Anna has 2 love interests, which is about the best set up Cinderella could naturally get for Evil Step-Parent. And Elsa with magical powers makes an excellent fairy godmother.

Cinderella -> Pocahontas

Pocahontas has a relatively normal upbringing, which Cinderella could provide. Plus Cinderella has that animal connection that's more likely to give Pocahontas access to her less stereotypical animal friends.

Pocahontas -> Snow White

Arguably Moana would make a good Grandmother Willow if you want to include that.

Pocahontas' love interests are "from another world" and Snow White always did seem Otherworldy... plus with Pocahontas' 2 love interests, again it's a decent set up for Evil Step-Parent.

Snow White -> Ariel

I also like the idea of baby Snow learning how to cook from her grandma Cinderella.

Snow white has 7 dwarves, Ariel is one of 7 sisters. The 7 dwarves kill the Evil Queen, Ariel and co kill the Evil Witch... heck, you could even argue Snow dies so that covers the dead mom thing. It practically writes itself!

Ariel -> Rapunzel

An evil witch threatens to take Ariel's child, Rapunzel is taken by an evil witch, clear and simple. Plus if Ariel also falls for someone from Another World, it would give Rapunzel those magic powers.

Plus at this point Pocahontas' evil lover is wrecking with 4 generations now, reduce reuse recycle ya know.

Rapunzel -> Belle

Rapunzel would give Belle a pretty normal upbringing that she hates, but with that love of Adventure. Plus Flynn Rider dies, Belle's mom dies, but in the sims you can bring them back and just make Belle all the more interested in occult.

Belle -> Mulan

Beast de-transforms, but what about Mulan? She's still got that inner beast she tries to hide, and when will her reflection show who she really is inside?

Mulan-> Aurora

I'll be honest, I did this for the lolz. One of the most active princesses vs one of the least active princesses.

And most importantly, Mulan's 3 crazy friends, Yao, Ling, and Chien-Po, sure would make an interesting Flora, Fauna, and Merriweather....

Aurora -> Merida

Aurora and Rapunzel are the only ones to have twins in their fairytales, and someone's gotta look after those redheaded triplets...

Merida was always going to go last, with no kids. She hates that her mom is so prim and proper and squeamish; how would Aurora fare with being turned into a bear?

Who knows, maybe that wit- er, woodcarver, already tried to get at Aurora but was foiled by 3 other fairies...

Wanna help re-write the disney princess legacy challenge?

I'm over halfway through my version of the Disney Princess Legacy Challenge, and I'm realising the generations don't quite flow the way I want them to.

And now I'm hyperfixating on how to Improve it and it is... challenging

The current idea is:

Snow White -> Ariel -> Rapunzel -> Anna & Elsa -> Cinderella -> Pocahontas -> Jasmin -> Mulan -> Tiana -> Moana -> Belle -> Aurora -> Merida

(I'm not doing Raya because I can't figure out how to translate her movie into anything that could be accomplished in the sims. An ambrosia quest is the closest I got)

Some lines of decent are Super Easy:

Snow White has 7 dwarves, Ariel is 1 of 7 sisters

Ariel had a kid go missing due to an Evil Witch, Rapunzel went missing due to an Evil Witch

As a fun bonus, Snow White's evil witch gets killed by the dwarves, Ariel and her beau kill the evil witch... it's nice and neat!

Some ideas are a biiiiit more of a stretch, but still make sense;

Elsa with her magic powers would make a good fairy godmother for Cinderella, especially because Elsa would probably be regular godmother to Anna's kids

Cinderella hangs out the most with Animals, and Pocahontas is pretty naturey so with Cinderella as a mom she could grow up a bit wild with all them animals

Other ideas are hanging on by threads...

Since Pocahontas becomes some sort of activist/politician, that could kinda sorta be a "royal" expectation for Jasmin to follow that she doesn't want to, ig.

And with Jasmin being the Most Crime princess, having Mulan as the Honor Daughter would give Mulan some kind of tension that could be similar to the og going against her parents wishes/expectations

And then there's the Necessary Plot Points I just cannot for the life of me work out!

Moana needs to have a Grandmother she'd especially get along with, but still have some parential tension to go against. But what other mother daughter pairing would fit into that?

Merida has a strained relationship with her mom, but what previous princess would logically have a storyline where she Wants to be the Perfect Princess, have her daughter follow suit, and still be able to go on a transformational journey outside her comfort zone?

(Well I mean, Tiana kinda did that, but it would be odd to Repeat her story again but with a kid instead of a partner this time)

Belle feels her life isn't Adventurous enough, but all the other princesses are pretty adventurous...

And just to make it harder on myself, I like to keep the og fairytales in mind!

Jasmine is up against arranged marriages, but I doubt any of the princesses would do that to their kid

Rapunzel and Aurora both have Twins in their og stories, and Anna & Elsa tend to make good twins, so why not... but which mom do I pick?

Alternatively, either one could possibly make a good Merida mom and have the triplets instead of twins...

Snow White and Cinderella both have Evil Stepmothers which is a pain to set up in the sims, and there are way too many dead parents overall and killin sims ain't easy!!

But if I make either princess the First one and have the parent pre-killed, I still have to pick another princess to murder to move the other princess' story along, and I don't wanna do that to my girls!

Ah, anyway-

General rules for all gen’s

Must look the princess (my own add: doesn’t have to be an exact depiction but similar style/ and coloring)

Complete lifetime wish

Generation 1: Snow White 🍎

If you want to be more realistic make her a teenager (14) and give her an evil stepmother, but this is optional.

Rules: Must be female. Should never answer the door to strangers or old women. She should have 7 children with the same partner. She should know all her children traits. Complete her lifetime wish.

Child rules: Must have one negative trait (commitment issues, over emotional, rebellious, clumsy, unstable, klepto, etc.)

Generation 2: Cinderella 🥿

“Even though you had 6 brothers and sisters, you had to always do the cooking and cleaning But you kinda loved it, it made you feel relieved”

Rules: Complete your lifetime wish. Must clean and cook every day (own add on: til married). Must meet your partner at a party/social event. You can’t marry until your mother dies. You can’t have more than 3 kids. Must have perfectionist and neat traits.

Generation 3: Tiana 🍽���

“Your family wasn’t that good in the past two generations, so you gotta change that!”

Rules: Must have the aspiration celebrated five-star chef. Must have ambitious trait. Your father must die before you turn into an adult. Must marry a sim that has something green on its genetics (hair, eyes, skin, wings, etc.). With the sim state mod, you have to buy a restaurant and run it (if you can’t have it, you have to buy a restaurant property). (Own add on: max out cooking skill before owning restaurant).

Generation 4: Aurora 🛌 💤

“Thanks to your mothers success, you had everything in life, except love, since your father was overprotective and barely let you go out”

Rules: Must have the couch potato trait. You can’t have more than 3 friends. Meet your future partner while your parents are asleep at night. Must have private wedding. Have only 2 children (better if they’re two twin girls)

Generation 5: Anna ❄️

“Your sister locked herself away for no reason. As toddler, you were best friends, but now it’s just a dream”

Rules: Lose all contact with your siblings until you’re a young adult. Find love with a criminal. Experience near death by your lover. Become best friends forever with your sibling. Find your partner after reuniting with your sibling. Have only one child.

Generation 6: Rapunzel ☀️

“Your mother never trusted you or the outside world. You never knew about her past (and don’t want to). All you’ve gotten was loneliness.”

Rules: Must have artistic and loner traits. Must reach level 4 painting before becoming a young adult. Your future partner must be your only friend until you marry. Must have a private wedding. You have to sneak out at night and have a strict relationship with your parents. (Own add on: must have long hair until married, must have easily impressed or some naive trait, partner must be older OR criminal)

Generation 7: Belle 🌹

“You always loved books and visited the library often. You think that the beauty of every person is inside. Everyone was in love with you, but you turned them down. You wanted to choose someone that will actually love you.”

Rules: Must have the bookworm trait (own add on: irresistible trait). Date at least 5 men before meeting the love of your life. Marry an ugly or supernatural sim (OAO: preferably wolf, or rich person). Your partner must become beautiful after your first child is born (OAO: OR after you marry)(If it’s an ugly sim edit in cas, if it’s an supernatural you can make it human or edit the genetics).

Generation 8: Mulan ⛰️

“Your family always wanted that you bring fortune back to your family by marrying a high status sim, but you don’t want love, you want glory

Rules: Must have active trait. Fall in love with a coworker, marry and have kids when you reach the highest points of your career. You have to be a militar(???). You have to get famous by your career and reach at least 2 stars of fame.

Generation 9: Jasmine 💎

“You hated being rich and living like a princess. Your father wants you to marry a rich person, but you don’t want money in your life.”

Rules: have a childhood best friend (if you have the pets expansion it must be a pet). You can only leave home for school. Your partner must be poor, your partner must be on the criminal career. Have maximum of 4 children

Generation 10: Merida 🐻

“You always judge your mother for leaving her rich life and marrying someone poor. Your adventures lead you to trouble and getting grounded.”

Rules: you must have the rebellious trait. Lose yours siblings and mother in an accident.

Now you can choose two endings:

You try to change your families past, but you fail. You don’t believe in love and you never marry. You believe you’re cursed so you never have kids. When you’re older you realize you weren’t and you reject (oao: I think they meant regret) not having kids.

You gain the commitment issues trait as a young adult and you never marry. You can choose to adopt a child or be child free when you complete your lifetime wish.

If I had a nickel for everytime I found a VW fic where they met as EoM captives, I'd have two nickels. Not a lot, but it's happened twice. Unlike the prev fic, this is a world where Vash stayed with Knives, never becoming the Stampede. However, this means he meets a WW who's yet to hit cynicism rock-bottom. Vash becomes WW's saint & he in turn becomes Vash's salvation.

Welcome to Revenge of the Underrated!

Some of you asked me to put a "haven't watched both" to be more fair to the more unknown movies, but I've seen other tournaments doing this and I think it limits too much who can participate in the polls. So what I decided to do is a double elimination!

What does that mean? That means a movie has to lose twice to be eliminated. In other words, there will be a sorts of losers bracket that'll be part of main bracket. I'm undecided on whether to do this for only one round or the whole bracket, as it would make the tournament very long. Do let me know if you have any opinion about it.

Yesterday was awesome.

Why, you may ask?

Because I spent 11 & a half hours binging one of my childhood book series - The Tyme Series. And today, I (unfortunately) concluded my binge.

So. Let's talk about it~

Starting with "Grounded", here are some of my thoughts/feelings in no guaranteed order, tho ill try to be chronological:

OH MY GOD SO MANY HINTS!!! I already knew I'd enjoy this reread cuz of how CONNECTED these books are, so I'll have fun noticing the hints & foreshadowing, and BOY DID I! I can't count how many times I struck the guy & butterfly meme pose and was like, "is this foreshadowing?" ESPECIALLY with the way Witch spoke to Rapunzel in the beginning & Prince Frog's actions

Rapunzel's....not UNPLEASANT, per se, I actually still liked her and felt sorry for her, but in the beginning she's just really brainwashed and does and says....unpleasant things

When Jack showed up I got SO EXCITED!! Also when he goes "I literally told you yesterday--" and gets cut off, I actually squealed and took a sec cuz AHHHHH I LOVE THIS SERIES AND PLOT SO MUCH!! her memory loss plotline is soooo good. BUT! I'm glad she doesn't forget Jack any more times

They did NOT like each other at first, not at ALL! XD Rapunzel 's insults are soooo amusing, but poor Jack!

Also poor Red Fairies....come ON, Rapunzel! You don't just say "I wish your mate died" to somebody!!

You know how years after you've read smth, certain moments & details remain in your mind? One of those for me was the scene where R&J are talking about killed vs died & just death in general. I absolutely ADORE Morrison's world building!! About the countries and beliefs and stuff!

The amount of CONNECTIONS Rapunzel makes throughout the books are quite....astounding! And numerous. And she makes them everywhere she goes, without intention! (Reminds me of Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece ngl)

Ngl throughout the whole jacks tournament I was shouting "GO RAPUNZEL! KICK THEIR BUTTS!!!" And she really showed her! Tho I feel kinda bad for the woman who lost, cuz she thought Raps was mocking her when she was being /gen

SERGE! SERGE SERGE SERGE SERGE!!1!!!1!

However it pains me to say that this wasn't my reaction when Raps met him cuz I...MAY have forgotten most things about Serge beside the fact that he's Ella's godfather. Still, he was sooooo cool & awesome & I love him! (Can't WAIT to gush about him (and Jasper. yes, get angry at me and expel me to the void, i deserve it cUZ I FORGOT JASPER EVEN EXISTED!!! 😭😭😭)

...I am sooooo glad Rapunzel is Rapunzel and not Charlotte, I know WAAAAY too many Charlottes!

I think this might make me a bit evil but I just ADORE grieving scenes when the death is fake! And sometimes when it's real....it's just that real emotions...I really like them. So when Jack is just despiration to save Rapunzel after she gets swallowed by a tree, I could FEEL the sorrow and despair and that made me ache and also fangirl a bit because they CARE about each other!! 🥹

OH just remembered, BRUH. When Prince Frog "died" I was like -_- cuz he's just hibernating, and I thought Jack would at least know that frogs hibernate in cold weathers! and Raps using that life-breather thing that Rune gave her, OH MY GOD I just realized! It's like Tangeled's Rapunzel's magic healing hair! And then she loses the power or uses it up, like in Grounded, and because of that they can't save their partners, both of which were injured by Gothel/Witch!! =(

Another moment that remembered well and was anticipating was Rapunzel & Witch's deal and questionaire situation. And I kid you not, I legitimately started crying. Not tearing up, CRYING! And I was hastily wiping off tears so I can keep reading. That last question was the straw the broke the camel's back--

"Do you love me?"

and then Envearia telling rapunzel to go get water so she can die OH MY GOD THE TEARS KEPT ON COMING!!

I think my foreknowledge added another layer to my experience. That, and my more kowledgable and experienced brain. Cuz this? This whole situation? SO. FRICKING. NUANCED! Rapunzel, she understands, truly she does, all the pain and suffering Envearia has caused, but she's still her mother. She raised her and loved her, loved her so much she did the thing she was afraid of the most. Die for her sake.

I was SO glad White didn't collect her. I would've been so pained ='(

On a lighter note, Raps's fam & Jack's fam being next door neighbors? Why is that THE cutest thing EVERRR. Just THINK of the fanfic possibilites! Of them becoming one big close fam so that when R&J tell them theyre together they'd be BEYOND excited! Plus you just KNOW Rapunzel's gram & Tess are invested in R&J, you just know it!

Anyhoo, that is Grounded's bullet list, and I was going to do the other two books here too but I am tired and I think it might be too long. I'll make them their own seperate lists, maybe just one if they aren't too long. (They'll be too long.)

OH! One last thing, do any of you know Rapunzel & Jack's ages? I don't remember them being outright stated in the books.

I *think* Rapunzel is 16ish, and Jack's probably her age. I think. Please correct me. I also have the same wonderings about Dash & Ella. I think they're 15. R&J are definitely at least a year older, but I think maybe a couple years makes more sense, so if D&E are 15 then I think R&J are 17.

Luckily, I know that Syrah is 15 cuz he says he was 13 when he kissed Deli and then a year passed and then another year passed, so he's 15. BUT he said once that he thought of Raps as his younger sis (which is ADORABLE and so sweet but I will get into that more when I talk about Transformed), but I don't think that necessarily means she's younger than him, just that she's more...childish and naive, and he's more experienced so it would make more sense for him to be the older sibling.
