OPKisstober: Meet Ugly

Day 2 for OPKisstober: Oden/Toki

“Mother, how did you meet father?”

Toki hummed, looking up from the kimono she was patching to look at her children. Both Momonosuke and Hiyori were kneeling by her side and gazing up at her with wide, curious eyes, waiting with bated breaths for Toki’s response.

Oh, how were they so adorable?

With a small chuckle, Toki closed her eyes, recalling the day she met her husband—a stark contrast to their children’s cuteness. “Well, it was quite curious.” Opening her eyes, she carefully put Oden’s kimono to the side before she turned back to her children, giving them her full attention.

“I was travelling the world alone, looking for my homeland, the Land of Wano. I got myself into a bad situation by making a foolish choice—”

“Mother, you’re not foolish!!” Momonosuke cried, clearly upset, Hiyori nodding along enthusiastically… even though Toki wasn’t sure the little girl truly understood what the word meant.

Toki couldn’t keep her laughter down as much as she tried. “Thank you, Momonosuke, Hiyori,” she said earnestly, reaching out to stroke the both of their cheeks before kissing their sweet little foreheads.

“Never say you’re foolish again. And if anyone else says that, I shall defeat them!” Momonosuke announced.

“That is the greatest assurance to me,” Toki said softly, smiling warmly at her son. “Shall we continue with the story?”

When the both of them nodded, Toki continued, “As I said, I found myself in the worst possible situation, backed into a corner on a strange island, surrounded by pirates. I was about to make a desperate escape when suddenly, from the sea, something emerged.

“It took me, as well as the pirates, by surprise. And none of us could identify what had just invaded us. It was clearly a living creature, reminiscent of a human but not truly. Quite simply, it was the ugliest creature I had ever seen to that day—to this day!”

“Did father save you from the creature?” Hiyori questioned innocently.

The corners of Toki’s mouth twitched. “Not exactly. Your father did save me that day… but not from the creature. Oden was the ugly, swollen creature.”

Both Momonosuke and Hiyori gasped dramatically.

“But father isn’t ugly!”

“He was in that moment,” Toki assured with amusement. “So very ugly. You see, your father had his own struggles before he found me. He was fighting the sea and the elements for far too long at that point. Yet, he sacrificed his dream to save me.”

A soft smile took over Toki’s face, warmth spreading through her chest. Oden didn’t even know her back then. He nearly lost so much simply because he felt someone desperately needed help…

“Father gave up a dream because of you, mother?” Momonosuke asked. It almost looked like there were tears in his eyes.

Toki shook her head. “Thankfully, he didn’t have to in the end. After he defeated all the enemies and took some rest, his swelling and ugliness went away and he became the Oden you two know. And then, the Whitebeard Pirates finally listened to your father’s wish and accepted him as one of them. And they allowed me to join them as well.”

Momonosuke gasped at the familiar name. “That’s where I was born, right?!”

“That’s right,” Toki agreed. “And then, Hiyori was born on the Roger Pirates’ ship. And I couldn’t be happier, or more grateful that the ugliest creature I’ve seen turned out to be the man I would love more than anything. Except you two.”

“We love you too, mother!!” both of her children cried, shuffling over to hug her.

That was when Oden walked in.

“Oh? What is this? Did something happen?” he asked, coming to press a kiss to Toki’s cheek, and to the temples of his son and daughter.

“I was just sharing a little story with them,” Toki explained, a sly smile on her lips—a smile that made Oden eye her suspiciously.

Before he could ask what she did, however, Hiyori called out, giggling, “Welcome home, ugly creature!”

“Hiyori, don’t call father that!” Momonosuke scolded, but it was clear he was holding back laughter of his own.

And truly, Toki as well had to quickly bite her cheek to not burst out laughing herself; it would be very unbecoming of the wife of a daimyo to laugh at her husband…

“What exactly have you been telling them, Toki?” Oden questioned, a deep crease between his eyebrows and an unhappy pout on his lips.

“Nothing important, my Lord,” Toki said, forcing her voice to stay level.

The look Oden gave her nearly broke her composure.

It took two weeks for Hiyori to stop calling her father ugly any chance she could.

Synopsis: The weather is getting warmer, and you decide to enjoy the warmth of its radiance on the deck of the ship you serve on. Your crewmate joins you at your side, and you take the time to chastise him for interfering in the growing relationship between Oden and Toki while enjoying his embrace.

Notes: @cyborg-franky said he was having a time recently and asked for some fluff for a gn!reader. I haven't written for Marco before, but I really wanted to do this for you. I adore your work so much, and you're such a positive influence to the community. I hope you like it. I also based it a little on this scene. I hope I do your boy justice.

The sea air gently caressed your face with a warm and gentle touch. Closing your eyes, you could taste the salt in each sea-spray brushing against the hull of the grand vessel you served on. Humming in contentment, you closed your eyes and elevated your chin to experience the full heat of the searing sun. 

The days were getting warmer, the sea was becoming softer with the lessening swell of rocking waves, and there was something in the air that the crew had noticed growing between two members of the crew. Oden and Toki had a chemistry the entire crew had witnessed blossom to a soft bloom, and it built a sense of unity aboard the ship to watch their easy rapport swell into something more. 

As you flung another sigh into the air, you felt a body slot itself down beside you in a swift plop, their shoulder immediately brushing with yours on the descent and rousing you from your silent solitude. Lulling your head to the side with a soft scowl of disapproval, your smile illuminated your face when you witnessed the smile of the man beside you. 

“Been watching Oden and Toki again, have you?” you hummed in a light tease towards the blonde man, “What are you planning, Marco?” His eyes widened and he swiftly cocked his head to the side. 

“What makes you think I’m planning anything, hm?” he hummed down at you, feigning shock and hurt on his face. You shook your head and raised your hand, gesturing to his face with your index finger extended.

“It’s all in your eyes,” you smirk at him before returning to your position reclining back to lean on the mast once more. Shaking your head to bask in the sun, you heard the man chuckle beside you in response. Marco mirrored your expression, leaning back and resting his shoulder against yours. 

After lingering in silence for a few more moments, Marco softly hummed down at you, “I noticed you don’t hold the same investment in the Oden-Toki situation as the others.” Slowly moving your face to the side, you gaze up into his eyes as he continues, “You don't like the match?” 

“I like the match just fine,” you smile in response, gently nudging his shoulder with yours, “I just prefer to let their courtship blossom without interference.” Marco nods, a lazy half-smile drawing up his lips as he leans against your shoulder. 

“I’m not interfering that much,” Marco admits, leaning more of his body against yours and shaking his head down at you, “Just ensuring they don’t get interrupted by Nekomamushi. It’s like he has a sixth sense on when to pester Oden, and I would prefer it if Oden had an opportunity to make Toki smile.” 

Humming in response, you lean in to Marco’s aura and gently close your eyes and linger a little longer. 

The relationship between you and the doctor was easy and laid back. You trusted one another, respected each other, and had no qualms in expressing your friendship towards the other in physical touch. It was Marco’s love language to give. Being a doctor, he often used his hands to demonstrate compassion for those injured, and provide comfort to those who needed it. 

His love language to receive was quality time, and he chose to drink his fill of it with you. He can’t deny the growing adoration and affection swelling in his chest each moment he sought you out. As he lulled his head on top of yours, he enjoyed the warmth of the sun kissing his skin while basking in the heat your body pressed into his. 

“Ah, I see,” you utter in a soft whisper, “Not interfering, just acting as a bodyguard.” Marco chuckled into your hair, gently nuzzling against your hair and tugging you closer. “Just a humble knight and loyal protector.” 

“That’s the role I’ve chosen, yes,” he wraps his arm over your shoulder before pressing his cheek to the crown of your head. You press your lips together in a tight-lipped smile as you fully relax against his chest. 

“And while you’re here with me, who’s ensuring Nekomamushi leaves Oden and Toki alone?” you hum in thought, turning your head up and gazing into his eyes above you. He smiled down at you in response, shaking his head and uttering. 

“I gave Oden an entire morning to flirt to his heart's content,” he confessed with a breathy huffed laugh. “Now I get to take a break, and enjoy hanging out with you.” You shake your head up at him before leaning back into his chest and closing your eyes. 

“I wonder what they’re up to now,” you utter lazily, feeling the warmth of his embrace gently shepherding you into a soft slumber. You yawn and nuzzle gently into his chest, sighing as you come down from the soft stretch.

“To be honest, I don’t quite care at the moment,” Marco retorted, joining his other arm over your torso and making himself comfortable while cradling you into his chest. “All that I care about right now is you, right here beside me.” 

He sneaks a look down at you, recognising the deep rise and fall of your chest to indicate deep slumber. His heart swelled up to his throat, a soft blush dusted his cheeks and his lips parted in soft shock. 

The feeling of true contentment and joy grew higher as he drew you in closer. Pressing his lips against your temple, he looked up to the sky and enjoyed basking in the warm rays falling from the cloudless sky. 

Watching on and snickering behind toothy grins: Jozu, Vista, Oden and Toki watch on with blushes rising to the apples of their cheeks, and cupping their hands in their chin. The only thing that could spoil them witnessing this moment of blossoming coupleship could be-.

“-Hey guys, has anyone seen Marco?” Nekomamushi’s rumbled drawl called over to the four members of your crew, “I’ve been looking for him everywhere, but I can’t seem to find him.” In a flurry of hands, and a wrangle of biceps and forearms, the giant lion-man was restrained and ushered away from the top deck where you and Marco lay in each other’s warm embrace. 

Slumbering peacefully, your blissful slumber grew with the rise and fall of your chests mirroring the waves ushering you to your next destination. Marco slept beside you, drawing you up into his chest and using the crown of your head as a soft pillow for his chin. While you laid your face in the crook of his neck and breathed him in with every breath, you dreamt of finding the courage to confess your growing affections for the blonde doctor. 

Only time will tell when you finally give in and profess, but for now there was this moment: you and him beneath the sun aboard the ship you both served on, with a crew that you loved, and who loved you in return.

Buggy x Reader

Summary: The adventures on the Oro Jackson is coming to an end. The ship now sails towards Wano and Y/n begins to make plans for after the pirates officially disband. Leading to a huge fall out with Buggy.

Warning: Mentions of death, Wano arch spoilers, angst, vicious one-sided fight between Buggy and Y/n. A build up towards a romance story.

Part III

The Oro Jackson was unusually quite today.

The slow moving current pulled the ship effortlessly through the glassy sea. The ships sails hanging limply, not a single rigging or joint tussling in the windless air. The crew were lulled to sleep with the unusual calm which only further added to the serenity.

Sitting at the edge of the crows nest, you look out and absorb the view, of the sun setting on the horizon, making the sea absorb the vibrant colours of oranges and red.

You must be in heaven - because you were certain that life could not possibly get better then right here on the Oro Jackson. A ship filled with great friends, great food and impossible grand adventures. All with the jolly Rodger standing proudly behind your back.

“The views from here are heavenly.” A rough voice startles you. Grabbing at your chest you crane your neck around to see non-other than that rascal red head.

“Red- you scared the soul out of me.” You huffed forcing your heart to slow down but Shanks only chuckles in delight from your frightful state. A rare occasion to see his sultry companion break the alluring facade.

“I’m looking for Buggy- we were meant to help the Captain with something but I can’t seem to find him anywhere. Guess I’ll have to keep looking.” Shanks announces, but his actions seem to contrast his statement as he leans over the rail, absorbing the breath taking view himself.

“Stay a little longer. After all, twilight is far too beautiful to waste alone. Especially since it’s gone before you know it.” You whisper, leaning your head onto Shanks arm. His eyes break away from the horizon and glances down at your glossy eyes.

“You can be a real charmer ya’know?” He teases which only pulls a devious grin to your lips. “I’ve been meaning to ask ya’something.” Shanks alludes, daring you to bite the hook.

“Asking me a question? This is quite the special occasion.” You nudge Shanks, earning you a chuckle.

“You know our time on the Jackson is coming to an end.” You shift your weight away from Shanks, feeling miffed at his wet blanket words ruining a perfect twilight view. “I know you were planning on entering Wano with Oden and Toki tomorrow, but I was hoping- you might want to consider staying with me. Would you join my crew?” He asks, his usual infectious smile planted right on his face.

You weren’t sure what you were planning on doing after the captain officially disbands the crew. Truth be told, you were feeling utterly lost, and only planned on residing in Wano because Toki asked you. But looking out on the horizon, this is what you truely wanted. Continued adventures on the seas with breath taking views and unbelievable outrageous stories to record in books for the world to contemplate and deny.

“I’m still going to help Toki and Oden settle in, with the little ones but once I’m finished. I’d love nothing more than to be part of your crew Captain.” You whisper. Shanks stares back at you with wide eyes, a booming laughter ripping through the quiet space.

“Really? I thought you’d flat out reject me for Buggy.”

Your face begins to scrunch, trying to make sense of Shanks strange assumption. “What makes you say that?”

“Come on princess- don’t go playing coy with me.” Another grin begins to surface to your lips at Shanks accusations. He always seems to see right through you. It’s honestly a little unnerving. “I just figured Buggy would finally a grow a pair and ask for you to join his crew, and that you would follow your little ‘Love Bug’ since he’s your favourite play-thing.”

“He hasn’t asked me anything yet.” You huff, quickly becoming agitated with Shanks misunderstanding of your relationship with Buggy. “And he’s not my play-thing.”

Sure, you started calling him ‘Love Bug’ as a playful jab, a lighthearted tease aimed at the way he always seemed to unravel in your presence—his nervous sputtering, the way his words tripped over each other in an almost endearing display of foolishness. Anyone with eyes could see it; Buggy’s infatuation with you was obvious, despite how loudly he protested or how theatrically he denied it which only made the truth more transparent, much to the amusement of the crew.

His nickname wasn’t meant to be cruel, degrading, or demeaning in any way and definitely not a nickname for your ‘play-thing’. It was your way of acknowledging his feelings without pushing too hard, wrapping your affection in humor, and perhaps hiding a little of your own vulnerability behind the playful term.

“Tell me the truth. Do you like Buggy?” Your mouth begins to open, ready to murmur agreeably but your mouth quickly shuts at Shanks clarification. “Romantically.”

An arch of your brow and the glare of your smokey eyes tells Shanks he’s pushed it too far. “And why on earth would you think I’d ever admit to that?” Your velvet voice is voided of gentleness and replaced with a cold harshness that threaten Shanks to back off. You can’t help but become defensive at the question. It was no one’s business to know your feelings for Buggy, and there is no reason Shanks should know.

Shanks only throws his hands up in a surrendering gesture. “Only asking because now’s the time to settle the truth before we all part ways.”

Truth be told, you can’t admit something so scary like that out loud. You felt… something for Buggy. A platonic affection that somehow morphed to more affection.

It’s hard to pin-point the moment you realised you felt different for Buggy as you did for Shanks.

Buggy was just so refreshing. He was so chaotic, messy and self-assured; inflating all of his short comings, letting his mind overcome matter. He was theatrical, dramatic and honest and transparent with every action. The complete opposite to you, who acts so soft and demure, a mask bound tightly to your face, hesitant to show yourself so transparently.

One of the things you admired most about Buggy was his affection in every little action. He always bring you flowers or bring back gifts that reminded him of you. He’d always pass you the dinner plate first, making sure you had something to eat. He’d always walk behind you, as if always putting you first.

You admired Buggy, but love? That’s a terrifying word.

That word leads to one’s heart and soul shattering to pieces if given to the wrong person.

And why on earth would you think I’d ever admit to that?

Buggy swallowed the lump forming in his throat. You said, the words so sharp and dismissively, they might as well have been aimed straight at him like knives to his aching heart.

Of course, Buggy had always figured you could never—would never—be with someone like him. You were far too graceful, far too alluring, the kind of person who turned heads without even trying. When you walked through crowded streets, people would turn their heads to look, though you never seemed to notice. You were too busy glancing back over your shoulder, making sure Buggy was always there behind you. But that was the thing, wasn’t it? He was always behind you. Meanwhile, Shanks was always by your side. You never checked for him—not like you did for Buggy—because you didn’t have to. It was as if you simply knew he would always be on your left, just as you would always be on his right.

It was just so god damn fitting. You would join Shanks crew. The two of you off galavanting without him.

Abandoning him.

Leaving him behind just like you would when you three would walk the street together.

How foolish he’d been to nurture even the faintest spark of hope, to imagine for a moment that someone like you might look back at him with anything more than friendly fondness.

He stumbled on the ladder, forcing a grin onto his face as he swallowed the rising lump in his throat, desperate to keep the pain from showing. After all, he thought bitterly, what kind of "princess" would ever fall for a ridiculous clown like him? He’s nothing more than good entertainment value.

Buggy continues to ascend the mast, climbing into the crows nest, and seeing you leaning into Shanks, his arm wrapping around your back and holding you by the waist loosely. You’re both too absorbed in the view to notice him.

“If you two are done flirting, dinner is waiting in the food hall - I’ve got first watch.” Buggy announces, watching Shanks rip away from you and rushing down the mast in hasty delight.

Buggy moves the stool to a better position ready to take his seat for the next few hours. “I’m happy to take first watch if you want to go eat Love-Bug.” You offer with that sickening sweet smile which usually twists his insides with swooning delight only now it’s twisting his heart in pain.

“Nah- just go a head and eat.” He dismisses, turning his body away from you.

“Are you feeling alright?” You ask, reaching your hand out to him only for Buggy to slap it away to your surprise.

“I’m feeling fine- just hurry up and buzz off already.” He lashes out.

“Buggy-“

“I said go away! I don’t want you here! Quit bothering me already!” You take a step back, feeling off balance from Buggy’s random outburst, he steps forward squaring up to you, his nose meer millimetres from your own. It was obvious he was daring you to run off, and not look at him. But the pain in his eyes told you to stay put.

“I’m not leaving you like this love-bug.” You whisper, bringing your warm hands to cradle his paled face which seems to be sagging with distress. “You don’t have to explain yourself, I’m just happy to be here with you. But if you want to talk, I’m here to listen.” You reassure, continuing to cradle his face. Just as he seems to be relaxing into your touch he pushes your arms away with such great force it sends your stumbling backwards.

“No! Enough with your freaking mind games.” Your brows knit together, unsure where Buggy’s unprovoked mood swing was coming from. Though Buggy was always an emotional swing set, his anger seems to be pointed directly to you. His movement starts to become more erratic, as if physically fighting off his outburst. His face begins to twist in seething anger.

“Buggy…” You mutter, unsure what to say to calm down his explosive behaviour.

Nothing in this world could’ve prepared you for Buggy’s lethal words that blow harsh punches straight to your ego.

“You know, it must be real nice, walking through life like the way you and Shanks do—turning heads without even trying. Making men and women fall at the knees for you.” He snorts in frustration, thinking back to all the random men that would pathetically flirt with you only for you to politely thank them for their compliments. It was a constant experience that made Buggy feel so far out of reach. “It’s all just a game to you, isn’t it? Watching me trip all over myself like the love sick fool. Acting like you don’t notice! Teasing me by calling me ‘Love-Bug’. You let me in a little, flirt back sometimes. You let me grow close to you—but never too close, right? You’re a damn ice wall — scared to let anyone in. Keeping all your thoughts a secret as if they were important to begin with.”

You take a step back, eyes darting back and forth, unsure what to do or say. Only managing to stand there like a damn indecisive deer and take the insults blow after blow. Buggy pulls a poisonous smile across his face at your shocked demeanour. After all, it’s the first time he’s ever provoked any sort of reaction from you that wasn’t cool and elusive, and definitely the first time you didn’t have a quick witted retort back.

And with that, Buggy turned his back to you.

You stare at the ground, the loosen mask you dropped around Buggy and Shanks now wrapping tightly around your face again. As you begin to look up at Buggy’s turned back, your eyes burning holes.

Buggy has clearly misunderstood you.

You could clear this up.

You could reassure Buggy.

You could embrace him.

You could tell him you love him.

You thought saying the words out loud would be the scariest part.

‘Love’ that word leads to one’s heart and soul shattering to pieces if given to the wrong person.

It turns out you don’t need to admit it out loud.

Buggy has gone a head and shattered your heart and soul without your admission.

His bitter rant left you feeling crushed and in pieces.

If he managed to accomplish this much before you even truely handed your love over to him, just imagine the devastation that could follow when the truth is revealed.

So you didn’t dare utter another word. The fear of being vulnerable was too great. The wall was back up, higher then ever, and with any luck, it will never come down again.

You backed away and left Buggy in the crows nest by himself.

The departure from Wano was emotional to say the least. It’s with a heavy heart that the crew wished their teary goodbyes, waving at Oden, Toki and the two little rascals as they walked away from the ship.

Buggy knows you’re terrible at good-byes but he figured you’d at least wave off Toki, especially since she was your greatest friend. Even going as far as calling her your sister.

A few of the ships crew members are gathered on deck playing cards. But it’s hard to focus with a distressed clown shuffling back and forth.

“Can ya stop pacing? It’s making me lose.” Crocus accuses. Grumbling at the cards in hand.

Rayleigh snorts at the accusation. “The kid pacing isn’t the cause for your bad playing.” The men crack-up in howling laughter.

“Has anyone seen Y/n?” The men go quiet, continuing to play cards.

It’s been so damn uncomfortable the past few days. Buggy carrying a huge damn chip on his shoulder, and their sweet princess acting quiet and meek was off putting to say the least.

They figured something tense happened between you two, but they couldn’t figure out what it was exactly.

Shanks is the first to speak up. “You know how she is with good-byes.” He states, locking eyes with his clown friend.

“She never could stand them.” Rayleigh agreed, taking a card from the pile only to slap his knee in frustration. “We even made her stand at the damn rear of the ship just to wave at her own Grandfather.”

“I know that! I just figured she’d stop hiding by now.” Buggy huffs rubbing the back of his head. “We had one little fight and she’s been hiding out in her room since.”

“I know you’re dumb, but I didn’t realise you were this stupid.” Shanks states casually drawing another card from the pile. “Y/n departed the ship back in Wano. Said she will meet up with me later.”

“Read em’and weep.” Rayleigh exclaims excitedly, gathering up the loot on the crate.

“You’re cheating aren’t you!” Crocus argues, igniting a yelling match amongst the players. Shanks picks up the cards, shuffling the deck and redistributing the cards.

Buggy felt deflated at the news. You left without saying goodbye?

He knew it would be the last thing you wanted to do but he figured you’d at least give him a chance to make things up to you. But now that you’re gone, things that shouldn’t have been said will forever hang in the air until you next happen to cross paths.

Your time with the straw hats has come to an end.

With the beast pirates gone, Big Mom and Kaido dead, your sister has finally been avenged.

Spending all that time with the straw hats made you feel at ease. You can finally leave Wano and join Shanks, after all, he’s been waiting for you for years.

With all loose ends tied up, you depart from Wano, refusing to say good-bye. It was far too painful to depart, feeling like your abandoning Momonosuke and Hiyori. But they seemed to stand at the shore line waving you off as you ride the waves out of Wano on a wave board.

Little brats, they made sure you had no choice but to depart with a proper send off.

A large boat just happens to be sailing past.

You recognised the strong haki that flowed through the forest before. It’s what prompted your hasty departure.

Even after a decade, Shanks kept his side of the agreement. He road the boat along Wano, allowing you to ride the waves out to him.

A rope dropped down, the side of the boat. The setting sun colouring the sparkling ocean horizon with brilliant reds and oranges. The sky streaking with whites, blues and purples.

It couldn’t have been a more fitting view for your long awaited arrival.

Climbing the rope you only just about reached the rail when Shanks appeared in front of you, snatching you with one arm into a tight hug.

“Good of you to finally join us Princess. You kept your Captain waiting for quite sometime.” He said in that light hearted tone. Conveying a casualness that did not seem to match the death grip arm wrapped around your back.

“Sorry to keep you waiting Captain.” You whisper, your eyes welling up with tears you couldn’t force down. “Think you can watch the twilight with me? After all — it’s far too beautiful to waste alone. Yet despite Buggy’s aggressive approach. Shanks couldn’t help but return a light hearty laugh. “Good to see you too Buggy. How long has it been? 5 years?” Shanks pulls him in for a hug, only to push him away to get a good look at Buggy. “Look at you, all grown up.”

Buggy only rolls his eyes, spinning around to observe the lively Tavern that definitely had an upgrade since they first visited all those years ago on the Oro Jackson. “The ice princess would’ve loved this…” Buggy states, scanning the crowd. Glancing over at Shanks he notices his head lulled, shadowing his eyes.

There’s no other way to describe it. Buggy’s world shattered in thousands of pieces the day he found out that Oden, Toki, Momonosuke, Hiyori and you, had passed away.

His heart was ripped right out of his chest. His mind swimming in a pool of regret.

“Oh- that reminds me.” Shanks said, taking huge gulps of his beer and placing the empty pint down. “Turns out Y/n was alive. Never died. Just time traveled! Can you believe it?!” Shanks begins to laugh heartedly making Buggy’s mind twist in heated anger.

There’s a lot of things Buggy jokes about, but your departure from the world is never one of them.

Right when Buggy wound his arm back, ready to punch the lights of our Shanks, he heard an angel call out to him.

“Love-Bug?” His head cranes to see you standing right behind him as if time hasn’t moved for you. The pool of tears welled up. “We have a lot to catch up on.”

Eri Reader x Straw Hats Part 25- Wano Part 3

-Sasaki was nothing but nice to you, keeping you safe from the raiders who were storming the castle, wanting to stop Kaido, grinning down at you as you sat on his lap as he was keeping watch in a long hallway.

-Your eyes went wide when you saw Shinobu and Yamato, with Momo and you froze when Sasaki attacked them- it felt like your heart stopped for a moment.

-When you tried to jump down off Sasaki’s lap, he caught you, not wanting you to hurt yourself as you struggled to get away, “Don’t hurt my friends!”

-Momo shouted out your name, thinking you were being held hostage before Yamato ran forward, attacking Sasaki, being able to get you away from him, holding you up on his hip, holding you closely, “I’m returning Y/N to her brothers- I swear it!”

-A familiar voice then spoke up, “I agree!” you turned, seeing the General Franky and you lit up, “Franky!!” the robot’s giant hand lifted, greeting you warmly before he focused on Sasaki and his men.

-Yamato gave you to Shinobu, as she was trying to get both you and Momo to safety, and Yamato told Franky he was going after Kaido, “Luffy might be racing you there!” which made Yamato race off, wanting to get to Kaido first.

-Shinobu did her best, but after she was betrayed by one of her friends, he took both you and Momo, giving Momo to Orochi to finally wipe out the Kozuki line.

-Kanjuro was keeping you in his arms as you watched Momo being beaten, “No! Stop hurting him!!” Kanjuro wanted to keep you safe, as Kaido would be pleased with him after he dealt with all these invaders, trying to keep you calm, telling you Momo deserved this.

-Your horn flared to life as you glared, “Nobody deserves to be hurt!!” a wave of energy, much like at the Whitebeard War, flowed from you, shooting Kanjuro back as well as Orochi as he was going to kill Momo.

-You were glaring hard as two figures reformed, one male and one female and as Orochi sat up, his eyes went wide, seeing two people returning from the dead as Oden and Toki took their first breaths in 20 years.

-Many were screaming, including Orochi who saw it as a bad omen as the two were shocked to see they were alive again before they saw Momo as well as the state of everything around him.

-Toki turned, sensing your energy, seeing that you were the one to bring them back to life as Oden charged, punching Orochi hard across the face before grabbing his son, “Warriors! Your Oden has returned- fight on! This battle isn’t over yet!!”

-While a bit freaked out to see him alive again, the warriors loyal to him all lifted their swords, giving out loud war cries, ready to follow their Shogun once more.

-Toki held you as your nose started bleeding, the aura fading as you nearly collapsed, a fever quickly taking hold and Momo called out, “Y/N!” ignoring his own wounds, he wrenched himself from his father’s arms, dropping down and ran for you, looking terrified to see you in such a state.

-Another voice then spoke up, “Oi Y/N- you sure know how to make people worry.” You lifted your head, feeling a bit delirious and you smiled softly, “Marco…” the phoenix landed and quickly rushed towards you, taking you into his arms and instantly surrounded the two of you with flames.

-Momo was trying not to cry, after his father punched out Kanjuro for betraying them, wiping his eyes with the back of his hand as Oden kneeled, “It is not weak to cry, son.” Momo shook his head, “I can cry later- we need to help our allies and friends now!”

-Toki cupped her son’s cheek softly, proud of him as the flames around Marco slowly died down, leaving him winded, but he healed you so you wouldn’t collapse like last time.

-You were still feeling weak as you looked up as Marco grinned down at you, “Izo told us of your plans- and calvary’s here Y/N!” your eyes went wide, realizing that Whitebeard and his crew was there to help, turning the tides in this battle.

-You knew that Luffy and Ace were going after Kaido, as was Yamato and you told him this, and Marco looked a bit annoyed, “Yeah I saw them on top of the skull- Big Mom is with them.”

-Your eyes went wide before you looked determined, “I need to go and help them!” you had changed a lot in these past two years, you were more confident now and he was going to refuse you, but there was something there- something that told him you were right.

-Oden agreed to take you, giving you a grin, “If there’s a fight with Kaido then I’m joining! Toki- take Momonosuke and get someplace safer. I just got you back- I’m not losing you two again!” Toki nodded and Marco grinned, rushing to help Chopper and Sanji against Queen.

-As Oden ran, trying to get to the top as quickly as possible, he held you on his shoulders, “So are you the one I am to thank for bringing me back to life?” you nodded softly, despite him not being able to see it, “I’m Y/N- when I saw Momo being hurt I got mad and wanted him to be safe.” Oden chuckled softly, knowing you were a kind soul.

-When he arrived at the battle, he took you off his shoulders, so he could rush in after announcing himself, “Kaido!! I have returned to end your reign and take back Wano!!”

-Kaido looked like he was close to tears, seeing Oden there, “Oden- is it really you?” Oden wasn’t prepared, none of them were, including Kidd and Law who were also there, for Kaido to burst into tears, crying loudly.

-Big Mom looked annoyed by his antics before she saw you, her eyes going wide, “Y/N! You’re okay!!” you tensed lightly, looking a little scared of her as she beamed, “Come to Mama and we will return to Whole Cake Island!”

-You hesitated, looking a little scared before, “I want to stay with Luffy!” she looked surprised by your answer before she smiled, realizing that she just needed to take your false family out, so they couldn’t brainwash you anymore, and you would behave.

-Big Mom ran towards you, but Law and Kidd were the ones to attack her, sending her through the roof and the roof collapsed where you were, causing you to fall, but Law caught you, something Luffy and Ace both saw, and they knew you were in safe hands.

-As Big Mom was falling, she called out Hera to catch her and Law shouted, “Eustass-ya!” the red-head looked over and immediately almost panicked as Law tossed you to him and he grabbed you, “Oi what are you doing idiot?!”

-Law pulled out his sword and launched an attack, sending Big Mom down even further, “We need to keep those two Yonko apart!” Kidd looked annoyed as your little arms were around his neck, “I meant you giving me the kid!”

-You were a little scared, being with these two against Big Mom as you hung onto Kidd’s jacket over his shoulder, but the two of them were able to keep Big Mom occupied, using powerful attacks.

-When she launched her own attack, Kidd was quick to grab you by the back of your kimono and tossed you to the side as the two got hit, getting serious injured.

-You rolled only a few feet from the force, but you were fine, other than a few scrapes as Big Mom looked furious, “I’m going to kill you both- you hurt my little Y/N!!”

-You ran forward, your horn flaring to life again as you touched each of the men, healing their wounds, much to their surprise. Seeing you being disobedient again, Big Mom was getting less patient with you, growing angry with you.

-Kidd stood, putting his good hand on your head, “Thanks brat- now we can keep going.” Law agreed as he stood up, “Stay back Y/N- we’re going to get serious!”

-You nodded and quickly retreated to a fallen stone column behind them, peeking out, watching them all fight. You looked up to the roof, seeing bright flashes of light and lightning as well as blasts of fire, worried about your three big brothers and Momo’s dad.

-You were stunned when Kidd and Law beat Big Mom- send her down into the volcano. As they both were panting you ran out, “Big Brother Law! Big Brother Kidd!” Kidd instantly froze, turning like he was a statue towards you, hearing your words as you leapt up, hugging his leg, “You both were so cool! You were so strong!”

-Kidd looked like he was panicking, having you cling to him as his face was bright red, something Law didn’t even hesitate to tease him for. He turned to Law, “Oi you bastard you-” WHACK!!

-Kidd was instantly squatting, holding the back of his head where a huge lump now was, as Law was holding you in his arms, as you looked confused, “What’s a bastard?” Law sighed softly, walking away from Kidd, “It’s a naughty word- Kidd says a lot of them so don’t ever repeat them.”

-You held your hands to your lips, worried you were in trouble, but when he said nothing, you calmed down a bit as Kidd caught up, scowling at Law as they rushed to help their crew with the fighting.

-You heard Sanji screaming out for Robin’s help and you gasped softly, thinking Sanji was in trouble but Law kept you with him, “Nico-ya can handle herself Y/N- she’s strong.” You looked proud, beaming brightly, “Mama is strong!”

-As the fighting went on, one by one the Beast Pirates fell, and you heard from Marco that Oden, Ace, and Yamato were working on keeping Onigashima from falling on the Flower Capital, Yamato and Ace using their Devil Fruit abilities and Oden using his strength.

-You felt a sudden sense of dread filling you, it felt like you were burning from the inside as you were quickly in tears, like something bad had happened as you heard drums- they were so loud, like they were ringing in your ears.

-Kidd was holding you when you started this, concerning him, “Oi what’s wrong? Y/N?!” your hands were over your ears as your eyes were clenched tightly shut before, “LUFFY!!!”

-As quickly as it came, the feeling left, leaving you gasping as you felt like something happened before you saw Luffy, but he looked like a cartoon- he was massive in size and his hair was now white as everyone was freaking out, their eyes popping from their head.

-You were just stunned, looking up at your brother, who was now going hard against Kaido, bent on taking him out once and for all.

-The last of the Beast Pirates fell after a hard-won battle and Onigashima was redirected, the threat of it falling on the Flower Capital was now over. Kaido and Big Mom were both defeated, and Wano was now free of both Orochi and Kaido- after Toki and Hiyori both took out Orochi, after she found her daughter trying to attack Orochi.

-Your whole family were injured, some more than others- like Luffy, Ace, and Zoro, who were unconscious for days, while Usopp, Nami, and Robin had severe injuries but with some medical attention between Chopper, Marco, and Law, they were all soon back on their feet.

-You had been elated to see Whitebeard, running towards him after all of the enemies were taken care of, “Grandpa!” and he grinned broadly, kneeling down to scoop you up, holding you close as you beamed, happy tears in your eyes, “I missed you grandpa!”

-The feast was massive once everyone was awake, as Oden had agreed with Yamato, to not celebrate until those who helped make this possible were awake.

-You cried loudly, being sandwiched between Luffy and Ace, once they woke up, after you hugged Zoro, as he woke up first, overwhelmed that they were all okay, as you weren’t allowed to use your ability- you brought two people back plus you healed others during the battle- you couldn’t risk overdoing it and putting yourself at risk, no matter how much you wanted to.

-You were elated to learn that Jinbei joined the crew, as you surprised him by running and leaping into his arms, “I’m so happy you’re a part of my family now Jinbei!” he held you close, feeling touched of your joy and words as he beamed brightly, “And I’m happy to know someone like you Y/N.”

-There was another issue, however, much to the dismay of all your brothers, when Oden and Toki called you over, where you saw Momo as well, beaming brightly, “I’m so happy you’re okay Momo!” his face flushed red, turning from you and several heads, including Whitebeard’s snapped over, seeing this.

-Oden was beaming brightly, “Y/N- you gave not only my wife’s life but my own life back- we are eternally grateful to you for this. We would like to reward you by inviting you to be a part of our family!”

-Your brothers calmed, only for a moment, thinking it was like the other families you had been adopted by before Toki beamed, “We would be delighted to have you as our daughter-in-law! You and Momonosuke can marry once you’re both old enough!”

-Instantly the banquet hall was filled with yelling and screaming as Luffy was quick to snatch you back, holding you too him as your family were quick to deny this, shouting that Momo wasn’t going to marry you.

-Oden was quickly standing, “Are you saying my son isn’t good enough!” Brook and Sanji had no issues throwing the child under the bus, telling them how Momo took baths with Nami and Robin and slept in the same bed with you, Robin, and Nami- which only led to more shouting and arguing as you were just staring, a bit in shock.

-Oden wasn’t going to give up, telling Luffy to come back as they were all going to work together to rebuild Wano, something Luffy agreed to.

-At the harbor you clung to Kidd’s leg, as his arms were folded, trying to deny that he was flushed bright red at your affections, saying goodbye to him.

-You ran towards Law, and he smiled softly, kneeling but you bypassed him, running to Bepo instead, leaping into his arms, “I’ll miss you Bepo!” Law’s eyelid twitched lightly, seeing that you had slighted in him favor of Bepo, which got Kidd laughing, teasing him.

-You hugged Law afterwards before running to Whitebeard, “I’ll miss you grandpa- come visit again soon!” he promised, patting your head before you boarded your ship, waving goodbye to Yamato, Momo, Tama, and your other new friends.

-Once back out to sea, the newspaper was quick to arrive, showing multiple alliances, including Crocodile, Mihawk, and Buggy, as well as new bounty posters.

-Luffy and Ace were both comically pouting, sitting on their rears as they were looking at their posters, as Nami was scolding them, leaving them both covered in lumps as they were now both 3 billion beris, but they were pouting more because you were now worth 5 billion, getting the highest bounty, as the government were growing concerned with your abilities, seeing who you’ve brought back to life, not wanting that to happen with others- because if you did the world would fall into disarray.

-You beamed brightly as everyone was comparing their bounties, some were happier than others to see such high bounties. You couldn’t wait to see what would happen next on your next adventure!

A mysterious box!" shanks answered first as buggy nodded and finished the sentence,"and it needs a key!".

How can you say no when they forgot what they were fighting about and, after setting them down, she requested that they show her the box......"Where did you get this, boys?" A simple question with a serious tone...."I told you we would get caught!" whispered yelled buggy to shanks "we haven't been caught yet" answered shanks in a similar tone, "IDIOTS!! YOU WENT TO ME AND TOKI ROOM AND TOOK MY STUFF!" hitting them on the head, BY began scolding them for both stealing and lying, "Are you sorry?" Another question with dead seriousness, "Yes, we are very sorry," answering in union. NY sat next to them and grabbed the small box. "You could have asked, but it is a music box." Pulling out a key, she opened it and turned it on, allowing them to enjoy it for some time.

Without realizing it, she started scolding them until she threw up blood and fell to her knees. "MOTHER!" The two shouted as they snapped out of their shock, holding her falling body, "Why am I always surrounded by kids?" "Y-y-your injuries are going to be fine, I-I can find a solution...Marco, where is he?" With Ace falling into panic Luffy was trying to keep it together, "Ace, it is no use..." With a weakened voice, she tried to stop him: "NO!" "There must be something we can do-mph!" She hit his head with her fists to wake him up, then hugged him tightly.

When the brothers returned the gesture, she finally said, "Do not cry....it will be okay...try to get out of here..." "We can not leave you here...mom," luffy said, interrupting her.

"My beloved son, I love you. I am sorry I can not see you achieve your dreams. Please grow strong and remain humble." The last of her strength was summoned, and she consoled her children while sobbing and saying, "The old era ends here you two are a part of the future so go on live!" Looking at her two crying children one more time, Yn finally saw the cold light as it faded from her eyes. Hearing distant shouts of her children, she thought as a final word of comfort to herself, '....mother tried her best...'

-Amatsuki Y/N decided to stay in the future without her sister upon meeting a friend’s son.

Chapter 1: Do Not Stand At My Grave And Weep

The Oro Jackson, with its grand sails, docks at the port of Wano. The crew members, including the you and your brother-in-law, Oden, stand on the deck, your faces filled with melancholy. The golden rays of the setting sun cast a bittersweet glow on the scene.

You look down to your leg and there held on, was Buggy who was practically sobbing and Shanks who looked at you sadly.

"Hey I'm also leaving, why do you two only care about Y/N?" Oden sighed.

You were the only woman on board, it made sense they'd get attached to you. You were the crew's princess after all.

And to be fair... it wasn't just the two kids who held onto you.

"Roger get off her." Rayleigh sighed as he pulled his captain away.

"This crew has been my family, and I'm grateful for every moment we spent together... I'm going to miss you all." You say with your voice trembling.

"Y/N DON'T FORGET US! ALWAYS PAY US A VISIT OKAY?! NO MATTER WHAT TIME IT IS!!" Roger says as he struggles from his first-mate's hold.

"Take care of yourself... We'll miss you so much." Shanks says and lets go of your leg and pulls the sobbing Buggy with him.

"We'll see each other again, I promise! This isn't going to be the last!" Oden cheers.

"Thank you for everything. We won't forget any of you. I promise to see you again!!" You smiled.

As you and Oden descend the gangplank and step onto the solid ground of Wano, you turn to face your cherished family for the last time. The crew members line the deck, waving and calling out their farewells, their voices filled with emotion.

"Goodbye, everyone! Thank you for making this journey unforgettable." You yell at them waving.

"Farewell, my friends. We'll always cherish the memories we made together." Oden says with tears and a smile.

The ship slowly sails away, and the distance between the crew and you and Oden grows. The crew members stand united, watching their friends depart, hearts heavy with both sadness and pride for the incredible adventures that they had gone through together.

"I miss my Toki so much, come on!" Oden yells as he grabs you and carries you like one of his bags.

Something you've gotten used to over the years of being with him.

"Y/N!" Your sister greets you as soon as you arrive.

Her husband falls as you have won her attention first.

You hug your sister, "Oh how I've missed you."

Two children, came rushing in the room to hug their father. After Toki gave Oden a kiss she pulls you aside to catch up.

"Toki, Oden was looking forward to you." You laughed.

"He can wait, we have a lot of time." She rolled her eyes, "So? Catch me up! Tell me everything."

Toki, was the dearest person to you. You could tell she also holds you close to her 3rd only to her children.

You two are peas of the same pod after all, twins with similar yet opposite power.

"I had thought you would've ended up with Roger." Your sister chuckled as you tell her your story.

"Oh god no. Rayleigh was definitely more of my type. But alas, I couldn't get attracted to them."

"You are a liar. I know you and your type is definitely Roger."

"Whatever! Go spend time with your husband!" You rolled your eyes causing her to laugh.

News from outside Wano travel a whole lot slower. The news was year ago, why have you only gotten it now?

Amigasa Village, here you were the last place you saw your dear former captain.

"Y/N?" Oden came to you, Toki following after him.

"I heard Roger died a year ago." You smile sadly at the couple.

"Oh did he?" Oden sat beside you.

"Yeah, paper says Marines got him. They executed him after he went on about One Piece." You laughed.

"That's bull." Oden laughed with you. "Marines trying to look good."

You sat in silence as you stare at the waters, Remembering the ship that had left you here not long ago.

"I wonder how the others are..."

"Well considering the news was a year ago. They probably don't think much of it."

"I want to see..."

"See what?"

"Hey Toki," you turn to your sister. "Can you take me to the future?"

The couple froze.

"What?"

"I can't let you go alone."

"We can't do anything with how things are right now. I want to see how it is in the future."

"I said I refuse to let you go off alone." Toki reiterates.

"I can always come back."

"Y/N there's a reason you haven't gone back and fixed Wano. You can't simply go back to past and future like that." Oden reminds you.

"I can come back after a year. It's not that long."

"What if you get in trouble to whenever I send you?"

"Toki, I sailed with Roger Pirates for years and trained with Oden. I'll handle myself fine."

"What do you even want to see? Why do you have to leave?" Oden sighed

"I want to see the world."

"Y/N... What if the future isn't something you like?" Toki says sadly.

"I'll wait till I can come back. A year wait shouldn't be too bad."

"A lot can happen in a year." Oden replies.

"I'll go back anyway. Somehow, I'll find a way. I'll get back to you."

"The future isn't even great."

"How would you know? Toki, please. I want to see outside of Wano."

"Promise you'll come back..."

You smile at your sister. "i swear."

A light envelops you.

"I'll see you in a year."

"Ill see you in 19 years." You smiled.

And then, there you were.

In a beach. You were luckily familiar with the place. It hasn't changed. You smile.

You would've thought your sister or your nephew or niece would be here to greet you.

You make your way to the village. There you saw children running around with men who didn't seem to be citizens of Wano.

The village looked poor, it surprised you how much life it had despite it.

"Who are you?" You hear a voice behind you. "You're not someone from this village."

The man wore a mask over his eyes. He is a muscular man with spiky long light blue hair, and wears a very long opened coat which stretches down to his knees and leaves his chest exposed.

You looked at him confused. He was most definitely a pirate. But what was a pirate doing here?

Pulling out your Katana on your hip you point it at the man.

"Do you serve Kaido?" You glared.

People gathered and gasped. The citizens tried to get help. The man was unarmed after all.

"I don't." The man says nonchalantly.

You were about to hide your sword when you felt a presence that was coming behind you.

You envelop your sword with haki and slashed at the direction of the attacker, you didn't put much power into the attack as you didn't want to be hostile to someone who isn't an enemy.

The flame that was coming to you was cut and it turned into a man. His arm had been cut.

"I do not wish to fight!" You clear it up before he attacks once again. Putting your sword away to prove it.

The man in the form of flame materializes. You froze when he looked at you.

A familiar feeling swells in your chest. They shared almost no striking similarities aside from their jet-black hair and the intense darkness of their eyes. But you felt something the man before exuded an air of charisma and determination, possessing an unwavering spirit that drew others to them like a magnetic force. Just as the man you followed before.

It was something you had always admired on your former captain. You looked at the man in front of you awestruck.

"Who the hell are you?" the man gritted his teeth, angered at the fact you pointed your sword at his friend.

But you were too engrossed in your thoughts to pay mind to his question.

This seemed to be destiny was it not? In your despair of losing Roger, you travel in time only to be in the arms of you assume to be his son.

You smile as your tears formed. You had promised to meet him again after all. It wasn't like you can meet him again. You were in wano during the incidents.

"I asked you something." The man calls for your attention again.

I really do adore every single one of these characters. Of course, I have my top favorites. I thought about bolding them, but it still would have made the list just a sea of bolded text, so I decided not to.

I will say, liking this many characters makes OP very very fun for me. I'm always happy no matter who's on screen.

feeling some kind of emotional about rayleigh and roger flashbacks in wano, with smol shanks and buggy. and later oden and toki and their kids :'(

these flashbacks were so emotional! so good and informative how roger's pirates worked, how oden went with them and their journey to the places we've seen luffy and strawhats travel from beginning of one piece - skypiea and the poneglyph text that oden wrote there for roger. water 7 and meeting young franky!, fishman island and roger and oden hearing that voice but rayleigh not hearing it. that was all so interesting.

it was both so fun and joyful, but also sad and devastating, what it must have been to part in the end, for the rest of the crew (and rayleigh especially.)

Usually wait until I have two chapters but who cares? Break week upcoming and I have feelings about this chapter. Starting with the easiest, nonspoilery one. Not a huge deal, but said something about it last time. The idea that Egghead might be the same island Oden met Toki, which has a lot of cool potential implications. It’s not the signature spotted rafflesia flowers that’d make it obvious, but this shot does show the similar trees we already noted this time with the right type of coconut-looking fruit. So one more point.

There’s some amazing stuff going on in this chapter from the angle we’ve been looking at. Luffy straight-up taunting Lucci so blatantly Zoro’s spelling it out. A certain redhead knocking around with less cool alternate versions of Luffy & Makino. That whole segment offers a lot obviously, but let’s go ahead and wait for 1077 to do em in pairs like we have been. I want to think on it and see our next step, but this chapter pulled the neat little trick of dangling something I was juuuust starting to seriously wonder about. This time, I only want to offer a plausible answer on the table to that finicky question; isn’t it past time to give it up? What on Earth could justify a newbie hanging out in the ship this whole time?

Aww, Shanks has a doofy Grand Fleet who decided they were his underlings too...

This was honestly on the short list of ideas from the start, hell I might have even mentioned the base logic before Wano ended, it’s a layup if you’re pitching an opening for a Quartermaster. Either way, at least back when we were just saying hey...arc could theoretically fit this rough sketch and build around a twist. We’ve done well sticking to that even if it was kinda vague. Vegapunk got the lore dump out of the way early and now this is devolving into chaos all while we’re keeping some of those big cards like X Drake back and still nailing the right themes.

Drifting away though, our goal at the moment is to lay out a hypothetical for how where we’re at on Egghead could be resolved through a quiet new addition working behind the scenes unbeknownst to us the readers. It’s the Fleet. Got 100 Marine ships in bound? Scary, sounds like a good use for Luffy’s ~70 backup ships. You just have to get Kizaru away from them, and him leaping into the fray on Egghead early is the perfect moment to turn the tables. Unfavorable, but not insurmountable odds at a perfect rate to justify the upset through smart command. Especially when you have guys like Orlumbus and Sai who can be your seasoned field marshals familiar with naval combat, it’s really a perfect stage for a Quartermaster who’s bringing social/speech skills. Less naval tactics, more balancing the egos. “Now Cabbage-kun...I’d expect a star to know the value of waiting a little to build tension.”

We have this big Chekov’s Gun loaded, look at what’s possible. Think taking a Gorosei hostage would count as historic proportions? The beauty is how it all just...flows. Luffy’s vivre card probably was going haywire over the past few weeks. Say they trusted Luffy and let it smolder from being thrown in Udon, but when it snuffed out and popped back for the Awakening or whatever decided they should probably move in. That’d give almost two weeks to get in the area, especially with the three days post-Wano. What if they’ve been trying to constantly call for a while now? Snails pick it up as they’re leaving Wano...there you go, that’s a perfectly fine excuse for someone new who gets the value of numbers spending a lot of time for a few days in the hold coordinating. It’s a great way to rapidly get up to speed on the wider world and could end up keeping a bit of mystery on the enemy end. You could even spin it into a killer Tokyo Rose-type vibe.

I feel like that type of propagandist, something like Gen in Dr. Stone, plays absurdly nice with what we’re seeing floating around this story. Don’t tell me it wouldn’t suit that little drama queen more than swinging a sword.

I don't know if you watch One Piece or just adapt it to what you want to see, but Oda does write romance, in his own gray and pink way, but he does. Sanji and Pudding is a tragic but romantic story, confirmed by Toie and Oda. As are many others, such as Oden and Toki.

I know he said in an interview that his anime is Shonen no Shoujo so it would not focus on romance. But, come on any viewer can see that subtly in some couples he does. And, in OPLA 1 he approved to make Usoop x Kaya canon, something that in the manga, Usoop and Kaya's romantic connection has been made clear.

Zoro has romantic feelings for Tashigi, feelings he has never felt for anyone else:

There will be no romance between the straw hats, but there will be romance out of it. Oda already confirmed the next meeting of Sanji and Pudding and said that it would be beautiful and sad, as well as Zoro with Tashigi, he has already confirmed in a SBS and Novel the feelings of both of them.

I understand that you Zolu fans or other Ships fan base want to agree that the Straw Hats should end up alone, when Oda has already established their final couples.

The only thing that bothers me about the Season 2 is Tashigi. Oda never does anything for nothing and gave her Quina's look for a reason. And we all know that there are people shipping Zoro and Tashigi, although, to be honest, I don’t see how this “love line” can be explained, since so far Oda seems to have forgotten about it and her in general (I'm nor saying it really is a love line but let's be honest, is there another reason why she looks like Quina's twin?), but this is Chekhov’s gun that would probably fire. I just hope that there won't be any "love lines" with Tashigi in the series at all or even hints. Because there was nothing like this in the manga and anime. She always seemed to me like a character who was introduced into the plot for some unknown reason. However, do not forget that this is Netflix and you can expect anything from it with its tendency to introduce unnecessary details into the plot. Personally, I want the relationship between Zoro and Luffy to remain the same as in the Season 1, ZoLu-ish, I mean, or maybe with some aditional shipping moments, so that it would be as obvious. My concern is that even though Oda is against romantic lines, he still allowed Usopp and Kaya to be canonized, and although everyone liked this couple, in the manga and anime their relationship was only friendship.

I still want to see that Zoro who admired Luffy so much as it was in manga. And them being shown the way we got them in OPLA Season 1.
