Break Me Drabble: Shouji

“Leave a “Break Me” in my ask, and I will write an angsty drabble. “

Not super angsty, more, bitter? Tragic?

Shouji staggered into his apartment. His arms ached. His legs burned. The gash on his face throbbed. It was all in a day’s work for a close-combat pro-hero.

But today, there was a new pain in his chest. Deep rooted within, caused not by blow or burn, but words.

The words of a villain, which shouldn’t have hurt him so. He pushed them from his mind as he moved on to the bathroom.

He cleaned the wound on his face in the sink while his extra arm reached for his medical supplies. The paramedics could have taken care of it, but they had other work to do.

He didn’t want them near his face.

 Who do you think you are?

 Angry words. Spoken by a villain Shouji had pinned to the concrete. The spines on his back had scratched his arm, left a gash on his face.

 Do you think you’re different form us? Running around calling yourself hero?

 You think they like you? Admire you?

 He exhaled softly through his main mouth as he dried the wound. He had saved people today, saved lives, stopped violence. The villain had been a heteromorphic mutant. Spines on his back, enhanced strength.

A monstrous, abnormal appearance. Shouji rubbed his neck, trying to ease out the tension.

 To them, you’re just like us. One wrong move, and they’ll all call you monster.

 They were not alike. Their mutations did not make them alike.

He caught sight of himself in the bathroom mirror. Bruised, with an ugly gash one on side, running along a wide jaw that bristled with pointed teeth.

If this were a movie, his face would be that of the villain. It was not the stereotypical image of a savior.

He bandaged the wound, then got to his feet.

He did not become a hero for the thunderous applause of citizens. He did not become a hero to visit schools, or appear on magazines. He became a hero to help people, to find them, save them, protect them from those who would do them harm.

He was a hero.

He was a hero who had passed the entrance exam, attended U.A., graduated in good standing.

He was a hero with a mutation quirk, but not like Iida’s legs or Ojiro’s tail, easy to define and fit into boxes. He was a hero with a quirk that gave him extra arms, fleshy and connected, with parts that changed and shifted at will.

He was a hero who left interactions with civilians to the others, a hero who left quickly when the work was done.

He was a hero who hid his face, because “a hero should not inspire fear.”

He was a hero who wore bright blue in cartoonish designs so when he arrived at the scene people would be more likely to shout “Hero” rather than “Villain.”

He was a hero, but he would never be a hero in the same way Todoroki, or Iida, or Midoriya were.

He ran a hand through his hair, then trudged off to get something to eat. He had been called monster so many times through his life. It didn’t sting, it just ached, like an old scar. He was a hero, and he would continue to be a hero, even if those he saved called him monster.

This dull ache, he would bear it.

6 and 18: Shouji

I’m technically not doing these anymore but they’re also a lot of fun. Plus, it’s my octoson!

6. Favorite music?

Classical. I can’t imagine Shouji banging out to rock or singing along to pop so I think he’s most comfortable with songs without lyrics. To him, it’s easier to work out, do yoga, or meditate to a piano or a symphony playing in the background.

18. Do they consider others family?

Absolutely! Shouji is very protective and loving so he probably looks to everyone like little siblings. Returning to my big bro Shouji headcanon from two days ago, I like to imagine that back home, he’s very well liked in his town. He’s everyone’s precious son/nephew/nii-san because he gets along with everybody. He also uses his Quirk to help people like organize inventory at a local grocery store, help old ladies carry their errands uphill, and let little kids climb on him and play from his arms. 

So the same probably goes for his classmates. He sees them as his family away from family because he wants to cherish them.

Spider-Man OctoSon AU

-Peter was four when his parents died in a plane crash. He was six when his aunt and uncle died in a mugging.

-Alone, scared and nowhere else to go the said year old ran, living on the street for almost a week and barely surviving.

-Otto Octavius is a man of science, working as a nuclear science consultant for Stark Industry Energy and Weapons.

-Unfortunately for him Tony Stark and he have differing opinions on where to go with the new technology and he gives himself fired.

-Now jobless and alone the man comes back to find his apartment, the door cracked open.

-Inside is a scared little kid, rifling through his fridge. He's more confused than anything else at first.

-Instead of immediately calling the cops he makes the boy a sandwich and asks him a few questions.

-He finds out Peter is a lot like him when he was little, smart, asking about everything...

-Despite his recent firing Otto gives himself growing attached to the kid and after the cops take the did year old away he remembers his ex fiance Mary talking about having kids some day.

-Peter Parker Octavius is seven years old when he's officially adopted and they move to Queens.

-Otto still does at home inventions but they can't pay all the bills. Determined to support his son, Otto starts to make under the table deals. Manufacturing and selling his own weapons to let than savory people.

-A universal key here, a lock breaker there, it's not as if he can be tracked.

-His biggest invention of all being the four armed apparatus now attached to his back, only his associate he deals to and Peter know about them.

-Because of this apparatus, he's earned the name of Doctor Octopus (Doc Oc) I'm underground circles.

-Peter finds out by accident about his father's job at age 14. He wants to help but the man refuses, not willing to put Peter in danger.

-His response? Make his own weapons in the form of web shooters and go out dressed as a spider to try and be a hero.

-Only the hero part is a little loose. Sure he saves people but he'll torn the other eye when people are committing robberies because hey it's how some people make a living. Besides a rich guy losing a Rolex watch or a Porsche once in while isn't really going to hurt anyone.

-Otto doesn't know about his son's secret identity yet so when Tony Stark, now Iron Man, knocks on his door asking to see his son, he almost had a heart attack on the spot.

-One of Otto's close associates is Adrian Toomes, otherwise known as The Vulture. They're extremely close because of their family situations and Peter had known Liz since he was 12.

-Peter's other friend Ned accidentally found out about Peter's secret identity. Peter told him about his dad's and Ned unofficially helps Peter as his computer guy.
