Liam payne was laid to rest today. Rest in peace, Liam, you are so very loved. I'm sobbing. It honestly still hasn't fully set in yet that he's gone. The photos are so heartbreaking. The reunion wasn't supposed to happen like this. My condolences to his family and friends. ❤️

Goodbye Liam.

i don’t know how to feel anymore. i don’t want to excuse the harm he did, the fact that he has multiple victims that he has traumatized. but he was just a kid when he was put into this by fucking evil greedy people. i understand why he was so at odds with his past. i understand why he was struggling so much.

he did terrible things. but he was also someone important to me, and i think all humans have the ability to improve and make amends for their past. he’ll never get to be the man i always hoped he’d become. i didn’t even realize how much i was rooting for him until he was gone.

for a long long time in my youth i was very liam focused. he was a big symbol for my adolescence not only as an idol and member of the band i dedicated all of my spare time to, but i considered him truly a friend when i was at my loneliest. i know i fell in love with a version of all of the one direction boys that doesn’t truly exist, but it was important to me. it kept me going on multiple occasions.

it’s clear he was making bad choices based on everything that we heard leading up to this. it was clear that he needed real help, which no one provided him with. it’s clear that he was justifying horrible actions with his own pain and sadness. i won’t pretend that makes it okay. however, i think of that child singing on the x factor and my heart aches. he was sweet once. a child who was taken advantage of time and again, manipulated and groomed to make as much money as possible. when would he get the time to figure things out? to recover from something that none of us could possibly understand? there was no chance.

i hope wherever liam is that he’s finally at peace, able to reflect on and come to terms with his past. i hope he’s able to have a future even if we don’t get to know what it entails. i hope if nothing else that his death is kinder to him than his life.

The London Guards were formed (by bringing together 26 separate Volunteer Force battalions) in 1908 as The London Regiment before becoming The London Guards in 2021.
