Questions about False Fox:
2. Is it easy for them to laugh?
4. How easy is it for them to trust?
17. Are they easily embarressed?
19. What is their favorite number?
Questions about Static:
14. What animal do they fear most?
21. Why do they get up in the morning?
7. What triggers nostalgia for them?
Questions for you 🫵:
B) What inspired you to create False Fox?
E) Is Static someone you would get along with?
F) What do you feel when you think about your OCs?
Aaah! Did Christmas come early? This is one of the best gifts I've ever received! Thank you for asking about my characters! ❤️
Ahem, anyway...
False fox.
2. They are very easy to get to laugh! That is, if you're nice to them...which, can be ..rare... for them to experience...
4. Oh, they have MASSIVE trust issues, unfortunately. :( With so many mean humans out for their false fur, hunting them for profit, you can see why they might be a little...cautious.
17. Very easily. They are embarrassed about taking up too much space, let alone any mistakes they would ACTUALLY end up making! That is, if you're actually friendly.
19. Six, three, and any numbers divisible by those numbers are their favorite.
Static.
14. Wasps. Any animal that does little to no damage to her hp but hurts her REALLY bad for seemingly NO REASON, on a planet she doesn't understand, left her with a strong fear.
21. Spite. But if you asked her why she still wakes up despite EVERYTHING that happened to her...she wouldn't be able to tell you. She doesn't know why. It hurts.
7. The sound of wolves howling in the forest. Reminds her of her old friends. She cries, knowing she'll never see them again.
Questions for me??? 😊
B. The false fox is based around a very, VERY old drawing I made as a child. I was trying to draw a fox from advertisements for stamp designs printed on envelopes that I cut out and taped onto my closet door. My interest in animals started very early, I guess!
E. Static would take one look at me, say "background character", and proceed to ignore me. Even if I had the energy to waste on trying to convince her I am worth more than a dialogue box, I would not waste it on her. -_-
F. I look back at all the characters I've created in my head, most of which I've never posted anywhere, and feel...well...a little pain, to be honest. I created Shadows Collide when I was in a very dark spot. Let's just say that. There is also a level of cringe as I look at my old artwork and...regrettable text posts on my old deviant art...
But,
It feels nice that someone else is interested in my characters. Even a little bit.
I liked creating them once upon a time.
I just have to figure out where that passion came from.
And, Anon,
You've helped me figure that out today.
A little bit.
So, thank you. :)

Summary: Someone is a big fan of Cypher Pt. 2
Pairing: Yoongi x camgirl
Rating: Mature, NSFW. No minors allowed.
Genre: idol!au, camgirl!au
WC: 1.7k
Warning: OC is a camgirl, voyeurism, masturbating (f and m), use of a toy, cursing
Playlist: Cypher Pt. 2 (obviously)
A/N: I dont’ know where this comes from, all I know is that Cypher Pt.2 just brings out the inner hoe in me. Also this is my submission to @btscreatorscorner summer games (Song challenge).
Tumblr media
“Joon, what did you send me?”
Namjoon looks up from his phone and grins. “Just check it out, Hyung.”
Yoongi looks suspiciously at his phone. “This isn’t one of your questionable links, is it? Do I need to back my phone up before I click it?”
“Geez, Hyung, that was just one time and it was years ago.”
Yoongi narrows his eyes. “Just making sure.”
“Oh,” Namjoon suddenly remembers, “I suggest you put on your headphones when you, um, enjoy it.”
“Now I’m really worried.” Yoongi sighs.
@
Yoongi plops down on his bed. He should be tired after practice and rehearsal, however the adrenaline is still high and he finds himself unable to sleep. He grabs his phone and starts mindlessly looking at cooking videos. Normally it makes him sleepy but tonight, he is feeling especially restless.
Then he remembers the link Namjoon sent him earlier.
He opens the message and for the first time, he reads the URL.
www.dopegirl.com
He tilts his head; there is an odd familiarity about the name.
“What the hell,” he mumbles, tapping the link.
A browser window immediately opens and he is taken to your page. It’s just a dark blank page, but for an embedded video screen in the middle. He scrolls up and down, finding no information whatsoever about the page. How mysterious. He really hopes Namjoon isn’t trying to infect his phone with viruses.
Yoongi’s eyes move to the video. It’s dark, but for the luminous play icon in the middle, taunting him. A thought briefly crosses his mind, to close the browser and go to sleep, but he is in too deep now. His curiosity is piqued, he knows he cannot not find out what the video is all about.
He presses play.
Static fills the screen, and slowly a music beat starts, echoing in the background. Yoongi immediately recognises it as the opening beat for Cypher Pt.2.
The moment J-Hope’s verse comes on, the static disappears to reveal you, naked on a plain bed. The camera angle is such that your face is not visible; only your legs and the part in between, and the peaks of your nipples are in view.
우린 일곱 마리 늑대, 함성이란 양들을 몰이 We’re seven wolves, herding the sheep that are the applause
지금부터 보이는 고장 난 랩들 견인해가지 We tow away the broken raps we see from now
우린 계속 진격, 비트 위의 거인 We keep advancing, a giant on the beat
You are writhing along to Hoseok’s voice, your hands travelling up and down your body, before resting on top of your nipples, plucking them. A particular hard tug elicits a moan that Yoongi hears loud and clear amidst the rap. One of your hands reaches out of sight, only to return with a vibrator. Yoongi is hypnotised.
난 랩 와이퍼, 완전 싸이코 I’m rap wiper, a total psycho
내가 다이서라면 임마 난 다이스 다 있어 If I were a dicer, hey, I would have all the dice
Your legs open up right on time with RM’s first words. Both your hands reach down, one to part your folds, the other to place the toy on your sex. Your body jerks up at the first contact, your gasp loud enough to mingle erotically with Namjoon’s rough voice.
히히하하 뛰뛰빵빵 시속 300 나가
Heeheehaha beep beep, I go at the speed of 300km/hr
Your back arches as you run the vibrator along your slit. Your legs keep parting wider and wider, as your moans get louder. Yoongi gulps. He has gotten hard and he cannot resist anymore. Keeping his eyes glued on his phone, he shuffles to pull down his pyjama pants, freeing his erection. He wraps his fingers around it as you insert the tip of your vibrator in.
“Fuck,” he groans, at the same time as you whine at the breach.
You start to pleasure yourself with the toy, your legs in an erotic V for your viewers’ vouyeristic enjoyment. As RM’s rap picks up, so does your hand, and Yoongi strokes himself faster, keeping in rhythm with the pace of your wrist.
I’m da king, I’m the god so where ma emperors at?
I parachute on my Neverland,
I’mma peter pan, so this will never end
You know when I ride on my G5 you sit first class and satisfy and I keep giggling
You plunge the vibrator in, your body jerks almost violently, your other hand gripping your thighs so tight your fingernails leave marks. Your hand then freezes, leaving your sex pulsating around the toy, squeezing out your juices down to the sheet underneath you.
Yoongi has to stop stroking, he has subconsciously decided he will only orgasm along with you. He squeezes the base of his shaft, half smirking when you pull out your toy and your body shudders at the edging you give yourself. He imagines you are breathing heavily, your breasts heaving beyond your shaking legs.
누구 때문에? 제이홉 때문에 Because of whom? Because of j-hope
누구 때문에? 랩몬 때문에 Because of whom? Because of Rap Mon
다시 누구 때문에? 슈가 때문에 Again, because of whom? Because of SUGA
우리 셋이 모여서 새 시대를 외쳐 Three of us, gathered, shout the new generation
Yoongi’s part is next, and you are so whiny now, your lusty moans sound more desperate. He somehow knows you have been working yourself to his verse. There is a sick sense of pride blooming in him that you are pleasuring yourself to a song he co-wrote.
Your free hand releases your thigh, the marks your nail leaves on your flesh are so red and raw he cannot take his eyes off of them. He is gripping his phone tightly, his veins blue against his pale skin. His breath catches when he hears a whisper from you the moment his own verse starts.
Did you just moan his name?
Yoongi suddenly remembers Namjoon’s advice. He pauses the video then scrambles to get his AirPods from his desk, then he kicks off his pyjamas pants completely. He has half a mind to ensure the Bluetooth is connected properly, before he turns the volume all the way up. Sitting back on his bed, with his fingers back around his shaft, he rewinds the video and presses play.
내 도메인 dopeman.com My domain is dopeman.com
마이크로 여럿 혼냈지 I scolded many with my mic
언행은 족쇄 같어 Your speech and actions are like shackles
내 죄명은 혀로 폭행 The name of my charge is “assault with tongue”
“Fuck,’ he breathes out as he throws his head back against the headboard. He did not hear wrongly, you did moan out his name. It was such a soft whisper, but so sensual that it burns his body even more. He feels his climax coming again, and gritting his teeth, he holds it at bay. He forces himself to slow down and levels his breathing.
The vibrator returns to assault you. You shove it right in and Yoongi swears he hears a squelching sound when you do so. He has never been so envious and jealous of an inanimate object. You continue to pump yourself, your pace matching Suga’s flow and rhythm in the track.
Yoongi licks his lips. He does not miss the way your thighs fell sideways to open yourself up to your viewers. He does not miss the little shakes that jiggle your flesh. He definitely does not miss how your moans getting louder by the second, and how he wishes you would say his name again.
니 여친도 홀리는 내 목소린 좀 꼴림 My voice, which bewitches even your girlfriend, gets them horny
There it is, Yoongi gets his wish. You WHINE out his name, and he groans, wanting to close his eyes to fantasize himself being there, replacing that vibrator with his own shaft. Fuck, he’d even please you on camera if that was what it would take. But he forces his eyes open, focusing on your ministrations you are doing to your own body and the carnal sounds coming out of your sweet mouth.
Your hand is moving faster pumping that stupid toy into you. He knows it, he can feel it, you are working to get to your release at the same time as his rap climaxes. He pants, the anticipation builds more and more pressure in his sack.
내가 어디까지 가나 봐라 Watch how far I go
썩은 뿌릴 싹 다 갈아엎어 I plow the rotten roots out completely
“Aaah, Yoongi!”
Fuck, fuck, you sound so fucking whiny, calling him like that.
“Cum for me, come on,” he eggs you on. It is getting to the best part, the part where ARMY cheers the loudest and his brothers hype him the most on stage. Now it is also the part where you are going to reach your ecstasy, because of his rap, and his name your only chant of lustful bliss. Fuck.
“Yoongi! Yoongi!” Your other hand goes to rub your sensitive button viciously as you wail his name over and over,
“That’s it, cum for me, cum.” He orders you with a firm voice, but his hand is shaky. He is stroking himself fast and hard, the liquid leaking out from his tip providing the lubricant and he pretends it was your juices instead.
아껴 쓰고 나눠 쓴 flow를 받아쓰고 또 그걸 다시 쓰는 너 You, who uses someone else’s the flow that was used frugally and shared and yet again reuses it
hey beat 쪽 팔린 줄 알어 너 Hey bitches, you should know your shame
Your shriek fills his ears as you finally tip over. Your hand that is holding the vibrator stops pumping, but Yoongi is certain your inner walls are pulsating wildly around the toy. Your body convulses, your legs kick out a few times, and it is at the loudest and final scream of his own name that Yoongi finally lets go.
He does not know how, but he keeps his eyes open and on you as white liquid spurts and stains his tshirt. He pants as he watches your hands crumple to your sides, and your legs shudder. And your toy, shiny and slick from your fluids, rolls off to the end of the bed. He can hear you breathing shakily, recovering from the short but intense orgasm. He tugs himself, squeezing out his own release to the last drop. The song is drawing to the end.
난 니 음악의 커리어 동맥에 마침표를 그어 I draw the period onto the artery of your music career
“Fuck, Yoongi.” You breathe out, followed by a sweet chuckle, making it Yoongi’s turn to whine.
Then the video goes back to black.

Abandon all hope
Pairing: Winchester Sister! OC x Jo Harvelle, Sister! OC x Sam and Dean
Tumblr media
Summary: Siblings Sam, Dean, and Evelynn (Lynn for short) Winchester are on a hunt for the devil. When Jo gets fatally injured, Lynn breaks down. [A/N: Jo and Lynn were in a relationship previously. Enjoy!]
Word Count: 2,485 words
Warnings: Gory imagery, Swearing, Female Pregnancy (For those who don't like untagged events)
Blood crusts her skin, most of it slowly seeping into her shirt. The grey fabric has long been soaked-through, intestines clinging to her fingertips. Once, then twice, it pulsed under her fingers like a current, and then slower, weaker. Lynn's fingers dig into the wound, desperately pressing against it with anything she can find: ace bandages, gauze, some spare pieces of clothing. Ellen's beside her, eyes filled with a mother's pride and fear as her steady knuckles squeeze out a rhythm on Jo's hands. She's so cold, almost frozen to the touch. Worry slams into her like a freight train - she's never been this terrified since John had been bleeding out on the backseat of the Impala, just barely holding his guts in. Castiel's gone, there's no use in praying to him when hellhounds are on the loose, and her brothers might know their way around a needle, but they needed a hospital. Jo was losing too much blood to stay conscious for much longer.
Anyone except Jo, she begs quietly. Anyone. She can't go on without Jo. She can't. She won't.
How was it that they'd been drinking shots and celebrating a day ago? They'd fooled around under the bright Arizonan stars, over a dozen beer bottles littering the front step of Bobby's porch. Dean had even let Jo take a joyride on Baby, watching the expanse of space overhead. They'd taken a family photo - one with what was left of the Winchesters. It all seemed too long ago. Wasn't that absurd? One night, they were celebrating their last night alive. The next, Jo's on the floor of a hardware store, clutching her stomach, peppered in the crimson-black of her own blood. Lynn isn't sure how much time has passed, just that seconds are turning into minutes and minutes are turning to hours, and hours are too fucking long. They need to get the Harvelles out, now, no discussion. Sam's already salted all the windows and doors, lines of white painting every entrance. "Safe for now," he whispers, voice rough with punched-out anticipation. "Or trapped with wolves at our door," hisses Dean. He looks to Jo, eyes softening in something that isn't quite concern. She's seen it when he looks at Sam or Lynn, the pain of an older brother. "How's she holdin' up?" "Some help would be nice, please," mutters Lynn, doing her best to hold the bandages in place. Can't show weakness. Not when Sammy and Ellen and Dean are depending on her, not when Jo's staring up with eyes that are a shade off of alive. "Salt lines holding up?" "For the time being," Dean nods. "Can we talk privately, Ev?" -- Dean fumbles out a makeshift radio, trying to find the special signal they've set with Bobby at Home Base in the case of emergencies. They need his help, someone, anyone's help. The ancient device turns on with a crackle of static, then fine-tuning. The channel catches on immediately. There's radio silence, then a heavy buzz. Lynn grabs the mic, "K C 5 Fox Delta Oscar, come in." There's a weighted moment of nothing. No noises, no crackles, no voice. Suddenly, Bobby's speaking, and relief doesn't wash over her, it fills her lungs like a fresh breath of air. "K C 5 Fox Delta Oscar, go ahead," says Bobby. "Oh thank god, Bobby," she chokes out. "It's Lynn. We've got a problem." There's a sound like a large sigh, "It's okay, you idjit. That's what I'm here for. Now, is everyone alright?" "No, Bobby, it's Jo. It's bad. She's holding her stomach in as we speak." Bile rises in Lynn's throat, and she shoves it down. Shoves it down, like the tears building in her eyes, because she can't cry -- won't. This just like any other time she's patched up her brothers. A bullet wound in Sammy's shoulder, a stab near Dean's kidney. They'll be fine, they always will. "Okay, copy. First off, breathe, kid. What do we do next?" "I don't think she's gonna--" Evelynn breaks off with a sob around her knuckle. "I don't think she can make it." "I said what do we do next, Lynn?" asks Bobby, even and rational as always, even though Jo might just really die this time. A part of her wants to yell at him. How can he be so relaxed? When Jo's in danger? It strangles her like a vicious knot in her throat, and she swallows around it. Leaning her forehead against the mouth piece, she lets out the tiniest cry. This was Jo. This was the love of her life. And she was going to go out bleeding. "Right." She takes a moment to steady her shaking fingers. "Okay." "Now tell me what you got." -- Nothing but the ticking of the clock can be heard over the line once Lynn explains everything as she knows it. He's silent for a few minutes. "Did Cas tell you how many reapers there were before he disappeared?" "I don't -- I don't know. Ellen and Jo were with him, and he said a lot of things, I guess. They couldn't put a number on it." "The devil's in the details," warns Bobby. Ellen's tapping at her shoulder then, and Lynn hands over the mic without a word. Ellen doesn't need to look at Lynn to know that she's a pindop away from a breakdown, and graciously ignores Lynn's blotched face. "It's Ellen. With the number of places Castiel's eyes went, I'd say we're looking at a dozen or so
reapers, probably more." "I don't like the sound of that." "No one does anymore than you do," she agrees. "But what does it mean?" "Sounds like death. I think Satan's in town to work a ritual, and raise Death while he's at it." "You mean that this dude and taxes are the only sure things in life?" "I mean Death, head honcho of reapers, daddy of 'em all. Pale rider in the flesh." Bobby doesn't sound short of devastated. "They keep this guy chained downstairs 600 feet below, and the last time they brought him up, Noah was still building a boat. The reapers are waiting for the big boss to show. I been researching Carthage since you've been gone, trying to suss out what the devil might want there. What you just said drops the last piece of the puzzle in place. The angel of death must be brought into this world at midnight through a place of awful carnage. Now, back during the Civil War, there was a battle in Carthage. A battle so intense the soldiers called it the Battle of Hellhole." "Where'd the massacre go down?" "On the land of William Jasper's farm." -- By the time that Lynn hangs up, Jo's paling. Her skin is almost entirely pallid, veins showing under flesh with a body that's lost all warmth an hour ago. Ellen's whispering sweet nothings into Jo's ears, and the Winchesters crowd around, faces sober with the realization: they either die with Jo or move on and take a shot at the devil. "Now we know where Lucifer's gonna be, we've got the colt, and we know when he's gonna show up," says Dean softly, each word punctuated by a few glances to Jo. "We just gotta dodge eight hellhounds and get to the farm before midnight," mutters Sam. "After we get Ellen and Jo the hell outta town," she reminds them. "Stretcher, maybe?" "I'll see what we've got." He turns to one of the back rows of the aisles, picking out what they could to make a stretcher -- four metal poles, wheels, screws, a tarp, and some rope, maybe. They could clear the doors just long enough for Ellen and Dean to push the stretcher out to the car, before having them speed away in search of the nearest hospital-- "Stop." The voice is too soft to be healthy, too quiet. It feels like a caved lung, and Lynn knows that Jo is fighting to breathe. "Guys, stop." Lynn freezes. Ellen's eyes drift from her daughter to the three siblings. Her eyes stop on Lynn, a pleading look, a question. "Can we--" she moans mid-sentence, pushing the blood-soaked cloth tighter to her stomach and ribcage. "Can we be realistic about this for a second?" "I can't move my legs," she says after a second. "My guts are held in by a fucking ACE bandage. We gotta - we gotta get our priorities straight here." "No," whispers Lynn. She doesn't care how desperate she looks now. "Please, Jo." Ellen's voice is firm yet shakes. "Joanna Beth, don't you dare talk about dying. I'm not losing another family member through hunting. You can't -- you can't." Jo's eyes are on Lynn, although the words are directed at Ellen. "Mom, I can't fight. Hell, I can't even walk. But I can do something. We got propane, wiring, rock salt, iron nails, everything we need." Dean makes a noise like he's been punched, eyes kept to the floor. "Everything we need?" "To build a bomb, Sam." "Jo, no," Dean begs, "We can't lose you. Please." "You got another plan? You got any other plan? Those are hellhounds out there, Dean. They've got all of our scents. Those bitches will never stop coming after you. We let the dogs in, you guys hit the roof, make a break for the building next over. I can wait here with my finger on the button, rip those mutts a new one. Or at least get you a few minutes' head start, anyway." "Jo," hisses Lynn. There are tears shedding down her face as she sinks to her knees, the floor thudding when her legs hit it with bruising force. Up close, she can see everything under Jo's skin. It's too cold, too white, too bloody. "I won't let you." Ellen's eyes meet Lynn's, and an unspoken agreement passes through the room. "If we can get a shot at the devil, we gotta take it, Dean." Dean nods, an
obedient little soldier. Lynn's fingers seek out Jo's, cradling them in her hands. They're red, bloody, and calloused. She brings them up to her face, Jo's hands touching her one last time. They cup her cheek on their own accord, perfect and all so painful at the same time. "You did eveything you could," Jo says, something only reserved for them, although it's loud enough to echo through the room. "I know," Lynn cries brokenly. Her lips find each knuckle, a sorry goodbye. "I know. But you could come with us. Please. Come with us." Jo give her a small smile, reminiscent of Bill's. She shakes her head, "This was the only way it could go." Lynn presses Jo's fingers to her lips before turning to Sam and Dean. "You heard her, boys." -- Sam and Dean grab their materials and assemble the bombs, filling them with nails and rock salt for shrapnel. Night has fallen. Sam takes Jo's hand for a minute while Dean strings the wire to the button she will hold. "So this is it." Dean gives a small, self-deprecating chuckle, "I guess I'll see you on the other side. Probably sooner than later." "Make it later," Jo mumbles. Her eyes are closing slowly, getting closer and closer to the edge by the minute. The first wave of love hits Lynn so hard that she's almost driven to her knees. She recalls Jo's laugh, more like a giggle. She didn't laugh often, but when she did, her head was almost always thrown back completely, beautiful and human and alive. She thinks of warmth, an all-engulfing warmth that was Jo, who had pulled her into a riptide. Jo used to be so warm, sunshine, violence mixed into one. Jo was tough in every way that Lynn wasn't. She couldn't best Lynn at hand-to-hand, couldn't gank every monster without getting too involved, but she was strong. Strong enough to make the toughest calls. There's a long stretch of silence, and all of them look to Lynn, as though she was the chief-in-mourning. Even Ellen thinks that's a fitting title, doesn't move from her spot next to where Sam's arms are supporting her. Jo hasn't cried yet, and Lynn half-wonders when the girl she'd fallen for had become so fucking strong. "We were trying," Lynn says finally, and the words cut through the air like a blunt knife. Ellen's head snaps up, and so does Sam's. Dean doesn't say anything, face carefully arranged into an emotionless facade. Jo looks away. "Trying?" asks Ellen steadily, breath drawn out into a thin line. "For a kid." The instant that the words register, Sam and Dean's eyes are on her. Ellen doesn't move, won't even blink, eyes open in shock. "A few weeks ago," she mutters. God, there are tears at her eyes. She's been in hell, for fucks sake, she's tougher than this. "Twenty one weeks ago, I found out that I was pregnant. Artificial insemination." "You're pregnant?" Jo asks, as if the air has been punched out of her lungs. She grins, despite the pain, shaking her head in disbelief. "You're pregnant." "Twins, I think - a boy and a girl," she takes a shaky inhale, "and neither of them will get to see their mother." "You're -- you've got her kids?" Dean asks, eyes wide. Lynn nods, once, twice. She can't do this. Can't do this without her would-be wife. Can't do this without Jo, not without her. There won't be any babies being born - not unless Jo was at her side. "And you found out a few weeks ago." Jo smiles, ghosting her fingers over Lynn's still-flat stomach. "Their mom will always be with them. Isn't that right, Samantha and Dean?" "Samantha Ellen Harvelle-Winchester and Dean Bill Harvelle-Winchester," Jo tests. "I like the sound of that." And just like that, the dam breaks. Lynn doesn't know when tears began gliding down her face, but they track down dirt-stained skin. It's a whisper that's almost too quiet to make out, "Forever?" "Always." There's a sudden pounding at the door, and Lynn prays that it's only the wind. The chain is unlocked, salt line broken. She can't leave, not yet. "We don't have time," says Sam, glancing at the door. "We've gotta leave." "I'm staying," growls Lynn. She's dealt with hellhounds
before. After all, someone needs to let them in, don't they? "Ellen, Sam, Dean, get to the nearest building before we blow this joint." "There's a line between sacrifice and suicide. You bet I'm not letting my pregnant daughter in law cross it," Ellen orders. For a second, she can see a flicker of a younger Ellen, so much like Jo, so loving and kind. "Get going now, Winchester." "Ellen--" "I said go." She turns to Lynn, face fierce and filled with defiance. Jo's gotten it all from her. "And Lynn? Make sure to kick it in the ass. And don't miss."

Mistake of the Lambs
-- Karl Heisenberg X OC (AFAB, She/They) --
Told you guys I wasn't done. uwu We still got alot to go!!
If anyone remembers this dumb thread of Emelia being a general chaotic demon, this is what I came up with from it.
A little more focus on Emelia this time around! I've been wanting to incorporate her fully mutated form into more of the timeline, so here ya go~
(I had ALOT of fun with this one. It's not often I get to write out blood and gore, which happen to be some of my favorite things as a horror fan- so hopefully that shines through here!! I also hope it's good. QuQ)
**Remember, check out the Masterlist for more! <3**
-----
*Warnings?: lots of blood, death/murder of villagers, injury, general chaos caused by a single muscle mutant
Summary: When the 'lambs' get suspicious, it's up to the wolves to set them straight. Some villagers break into the factory, and it's too late to simply drive them away; So Emelia takes care of it in the only way she can.
Tumblr media
The sound of crashing and yelling made Emelia jerk out of her working trance, throwing up the welding mask she wore. What the fuck??? Her first thought had been another tantrum from Heisenberg as she paused and listened, but her chest tightened with the squirming Cadou once she remembered he had been there all day at the factory. There was no meeting... No reason FOR a tantrum. Silence followed for a few moments as she strained her ears for any semblance of activity. If it wasn't Heisenberg, it HAD to be something- or someONE- else... As if to confirm her suspicions, more yelling echoed through the tunnels, voices bouncing as if it were multiple people. No matter how great the metal man was, he couldn't make his voice travel like that unless he used multiple monitors, and even then it would most likely be in unison... As if to add to the nerves, the yelling didn't sound happy... In fact, it gave her a bad feeling. A really bad one...
She powered down the welder she held and set it on the ledge, removing the mask and gloves fully before making her way towards the noise. As of on cue, one of the old monitors she kept near her on the ground had sparked to life, and she stopped.
"You hear it too?" She asked casually, keeping her voice down. There was silence from the monitor before a staticky voice came through, almost doing the same.
"Villagers. They broke in through the back, the poor bastards." Heisenberg spoke quietly through the muffled speaker. The glow of the monitor illuminated Emelia enough to where he could see her face from wherever he was watching. "They got past the goddamn Lycans. They have weapons."
'Weapons'. That word sent a boiling rage down her stomach, and she bared her teeth. She felt her Cadou move and constrict, and suddenly there was an eruption of muscle tendrils from the scar in her chest. The voice on the monitor was silent as the muscle surrounded and contorted her arm with snaps and pops, resulting in small uncomfortable grunts from her even though she stood still. She knew Heisenberg could have taken care of them easily, but the chances of him getting there before they found the 'horrors' of the factory were incredibly slim from what she heard, even if the man could travel quick as if he turned into the metal, itself.
She simply stood as her bones were altered, letting out a steamed, growling breath once the partial mutation had taken place. The muscles, despite having hardened almost instantly, trembled as she started to walk forward. Each tendril shook and twitched as she thought of the destruction to the factory itself, or even harm that could come to them if they weren't careful. The monitor static made her pause again.
"I'll be right behind you." Heisenberg said quickly, and the monitor shut off immediately after. 'You won't have time.' she thought, suddenly taking off in a sprint with a snarling growl.
The quicker she ran, the more she could hear the voices. They were in the fucking tunnels... Her heart raced as she paused, nearly skidding to a stop. No, she couldn't get them in the tunnels... She wouldn't have room. The risk of injury to herself was too great... Unless-
She looked around for a brief moment before suddenly taking off an alternate way. She knew what she was doing... With her jaw opening, she let out a high pitched scream- an imitation scream. It was a tactic she had used before to lure others away for materials, and it was the only way she could maneuver now without being seen. She could hear yelling behind her, the villagers scrambling to help the 'defenseless maiden' from the factory bowels. It was also a scream, she knew, that wouldn't alert Heisenberg too much. She knew damn well he would hear it, but she knew he knew it was a ploy. Another fake scream tore through her throat and bounced of the walls as she made her way into one of the larger hallways, busting through a door. She paused for less than a second as she took in her surroundings.
The ventilation fan.
Thankfully the fan itself was off as she entered, and she knew he had most likely shut it down as soon as he saw her path. She felt as if she had eyes on her, and she knew he was watching her every move both to make sure of her safety and that of the factory. She turned and gripped one of the pipes with her mutated arm, hauling herself onto a ledge before she let the Cadou make a final change.
Ripples were sent through her entire body this time, the muscle tendrils emerging from nearly every scar on her body as well as the usual along her chest. She collapsed to her knees, forcing back her grunts and growls. It was painful... It was still incredibly painful as every bone in her body was contorted and warped, some even breaking and reforming themselves quicker than the eye could blink. She couldn't help but let out a small, pained cry as her body trembled with the change, the muscle settling itself over the skin. A legitimate cry that only seemed to urge the villagers towards her quicker, and one that she knew would bring Heisenberg directly to her if he couldn't see her. Her head shook violently as the bones of her nose and jaw elongated with the added muscle, the pain only causing choked gasps and whines to emerge from her throat.
It felt as if it were taking forever... It always felt like it took forever, with as much pain as she was in. But as soon as it had started, it was over, and she was... cold. She was cold and felt damp as if she had just climbed out of the Reservoir during the winter, though she was completely bone dry. The muscles were shaking and quivering as she regained her balance and gasped for air, her new sharpened bone claws digging into the stone under her. Her eye opened, and while it had been somewhat blurry from tears and internal altering, her vision quickly sharpened.
She could see every small movement.
Every particle of dust and dirt.
Every warp and twist of the light from the small industrial bulbs that illuminated the tunnel, as few as they were.
Her head tilted with a trilling breath; she could hear every movement far better, quickly determining that 11 villagers had gotten in.
11 pairs of footsteps.
11 separate voices.
All men, she heard, all yelling that they would kill whoever they found.
Kill the beasts, save the girl, they said.
She closed her eye and tilted her head slightly to the other side, hearing a different sound from the opposite side. It was Heisenberg, and she could almost hear his own Cadou move as he undeniably utilized his metal to maneuver his way through the factory. But she returned her focus to the villagers, waiting until her now longer, beast-like limbs stopped trembling to move. She circled herself for a moment to gain her footing before glancing up and spotting a monitor, her nose flaring as she lowered her head. She knew he was still watching. He knew what she was planning. She heard his own movements slow, though she didn't know why... But she again looked to the entrance of the room, letting out another high pitched scream that warbled slightly in the last few seconds.
The new mutated form wouldn't hold for long at the current moment, she knew. It took too much energy... It was too new. Her cadou wouldn't hold incredibly long until she had gotten used to it, and at this moment she knew she wasn't. 'Make it fast...' She thought, quickly scurrying up the wall as she heard the villagers footsteps round the corner. She clung to the wall as the men flooded into the large area, holding torches and carrying a variety of weapons. Guns, knives, pitchforks, and even a few pickaxes she noticed had been taken from the caverns of the factory itself. The muscles on her face scrunched into a snarl as she watch them, hearing them speak.
"I swear to you I heard her in here!" One man spoke. Others agreed, dispersing among the area to search.
Within only a few seconds it was made rather clear with a few of them why Dimitrescu hated men, and she stared down with an unamused expression and flaring nostrils. Some of the things that a few of them said... The way a few of them moved. She could even smell rather cheap alcohol on a few, and she knew why they had come. Most likely a drunken idea to be carried out while 'sober', though she figured that fact wasn't entirely true. Did their wives even know they were here, if they had any? Probably not, she thought, and she silently made her way across the wall. No, she wouldn't think like that... They broke in with intent to harm, they were gonna get what came to them.
She chose one man who had wandered to the far area of the room to start the chaos with, and made her way towards him with her eye focused on his movements. If he looked around, she froze, her dark muscle blending in with the shadows. It didn't take her long to reach him, however, waiting until he neared the wall and looked behind one of the many scrap piles.
Her movements were quick, like a wild animal going after its prey, and her arm shot out from the darkness of the corner she was in. Her claws closed around the mans face, muffling his surprised yell as she yanked him up and sunk her odd teeth into his neck. Warm blood filled her mouth as the mans movements turned into limp jerks and twitches, and she pulled away while tearing out a majority of the flesh from under his jaw. The noise it made made her cringe, though it was one she was used to. 'Leave the spine intact.' she was always told, and so she simply watched the blood flow down the mans chest as she let the flesh drop from her mouth. Of course she didn't eat them... Quite honestly she could barely even stand the stench of the village humans anymore in this state, much less devour them. The men below had begun to notice the disappearance of their comrade, and started to group up. Well, that wasn't good... But there was only two ways out of the place, and one door was sealed. If she could get to the other one...
She maneuvered her grip to the top of the dead mans head, careful not to sever the spine as she held his jaw with two claws. With a simple tug and squelch, the bone was torn off with another small blood spray against her face, and his tongue fell limp against his chest. The jaw was tossed towards the men, Emelia turning towards the currently open door as they all froze once it hit the ground. As they gathered to inspect it, she silently crawled along the wall to the door, quietly shutting it and simply breaking the lock from it's hinges. Heisenberg would yell at her later, but for now she needed to make sure they couldn't escape...
She tossed the body towards the men as they realized what the object on the ground was, all backing up with growing panic. before jumping as the body landed and bounced with the force. A fearful silence overcame them, until Emelia let out another fake scream, this time with a low trill from the back of her throat. The men looked up, catching a glimpse of her back leg as she scuttled behind a large pipe.
The sudden sound of screaming and yelling made her cringe once more as the men scrambled together in a group, and she was forced to move as a much larger, much more dangerous sound rang out-
A gunshot.
The bullet bounced off the pipe and into the wall next to her head, and she growled. She had to move faster... Thankfully she could do fast.
With a snarl, she jumped forward and moved along the walls, scuttling and scurrying behind objects and pipes that jutted out. Gunshots followed her trail, as did the mens attempts to throw things- anything they could get their hands on. Rocks, metal chunks, even breaking down small boxes and hurling the wood pieces while simultaneously running around. But she moved too quickly for them to match pace.
Without a second thought, she jumped at them, snatching another man by the throat and dragging him onto the ceiling above them. Her claws dug into his chest, tearing through the clothes and skin easily as if it were paper, eviscerating the man and letting the innards and intestines fall onto the group of men under her with squelches and small splashes of blood before letting the body fall as well. But it wasn't until another gunshot rang out that she moved, only to feel a searing pain up her leg.
They HIT her?!
She hid her pain with a trilling snarl, moving quickly to the side as it slowly healed over. There were only 9 men left now... some had run to the door, only to find the latch broken and the door sealed. Their yells of panic were mixed with yells of anger, and the man she assumed was in the lead spoke up.
"KILL THE BEAST!!!" He screamed, aiming the shotgun at the area where she was hidden.
'Kill??' she thought, letting the smallest amount of rage bubble in her chest. She then let out an involuntary laugh, suddenly darting to and fro, causing the sound to travel.
"YOU BLOODY IDIOTS THINK YOU CAN KILL ME?!" She roared, her voice low and warped. She then shot forward, twisting her body as it ricocheted from corner to corner.
She caught another man by the throat, simply sinking her teeth into his shoulder and tearing with her jaws and arms. Her jaws ripped the mans arm from the socket, piercing the bone and tearing the shoulder blade out before crushing it under her teeth. She kept moving as she crushed his skull, leaving a trail of blood and chunks before dropping the body as another few gunshots rang out and narrowly missed her. Another jump caught two more, sinking her claws into their chests and tearing at their ribs. A loud, wet crunching noise could be heard as the bones were torn from their chests, the bones themselves being crushed under the mutated beasts grip. She jumped out of the way once more with more gunshots, though wasn't spared as a bullet hit her arm. She grunted with pain as she landed against the wall, watching the men.
6... There were 6 left. Three still had guns. Those were the three she needed to hit. She needed to get those damn things away from them...
She moved quickly again, bouncing and jumping in and out of sight from the remaining men. She tackled one of the three gunners and knocked him off his feet, prying it from his hands and bending the barrel to an unusable shape. The man screamed under her, and she quickly covered his face with her hand as she heard the other two guns cock in her direction. With a swift movement, she swung the man in front of her just as the other two shot, their bullets instead hitting the man while she used him as a shield of flesh. He was killed instantly, though she closed her jaws around his head and crushed it with a sickening *CRUNCH* to make sure of it.
She glared at the last 5 men with her one eye, suddenly and quite literally tearing the man with the crushed head in half as effortlessly as one would a leaf. Blood splattered over her and the ground in front of her as she threw the two halves of the man aside.
"YOU THINK YOU CAN BREAK INTO OUR HOME AND GET AWAY WITH IT? TO HURT US?" She snarled, suddenly jumping onto the wall and into the darkness once more.
The men below yelled and simply ran, attempting to find any kind of way out in their ever growing panic. It was something she noticed with humans now that she wasn't one... When faced with the choice of fighting or running, most typically ran. But that didn't stop her... No, instead she let out a trilling screech of a roar, now darting towards them with her own inhuman speed.
She caught up to the men before they even reached the other end of the room, jumping on one and tearing out the spine whilst also swinging the bones and hitting another. The man that was hit tripped with a yell of surprise, earning her teeth around the back of his neck and ripping his head clean off. She grabbed the second of the shotguns and crushed it easily, twisting and darting for the last three men. The first was grabbed by means of her claws sinking into his back and tearing, and she made sure to tear the organs apart with her teeth as she bit into his side.
All she could taste was blood... It was all she could see. All she could smell. The rough metallic flavor permeated the air as she set her sight on the last gunner and ran for him. But she didn't notice as he cocked it back, managing to get a single shot off as she neared him. She paused for a split second with a pained cry as the bullet lodged itself deep in a small soft spot her shoulder, deeper than the others. Her own blood spilled and mixed with the thick layer of the red liquid already on the muscle. She was stunned enough for the man to run, but not enough to not catch him.
Anther screeching roar echoed from her throat, this time filled with rage.
The last two men ran as the beast jumped at them with a trilling snarl, the breaths it took only coming out as roars and growls. The man with the gun was the next to go down, though this time she didn't stop tearing. His screams stopped abruptly as her teeth and claws tore into flesh, flinging whatever bits of bones and innards she found to the side. Only once the torso was nothing but a few shreds of clothing, skin and organs did she stop, some bones that weren't thrown having been crushed under her grip. She only lifted her blood-soaked head as she heard a whimper from behind her.
It was then that she turned to face the last man- a younger man with a simple butchers knife. She could tell none of this was his idea... He didn't even want to be here in the first place. She could see it in his eyes as she stared at him, feeling very, very close to pity.
But that pity didn't last long.
She didn't jump at him, nor did she run. She instead turned to face him slowly, her eye focused on his face.
The now lone villager watched in absolute terror as the beast neared him, its breaths trilling growls as blood dripped constantly from its maw. Emelia stared at the man with a hatred almost as strong as that for Miranda, limping in her shoulder with each movement. The glow of her eye reflected off the metal of the knife as he angled it in defense.
"YOU SHOULDN'T BE HERE."
Her voice was that of a pure monster, barely even recognizable as human from rage. She was focused enough on the man to not hear a distant crashing, stalking towards him like a predator cornering it's prey.
She opened her mouth in a roar as she moved to pounce at him, but was stopped by a sudden, thin rush of air in front of her face. Time seemed to stop as the villager stared, his face locked in that of a deep terror as he stared at her with wide eyes. There was now silence... Complete silence. But the reason for the mans frozen expression became obvious as she watched the life drain slowly from his eyes, a sudden rush of blood exiting a clear slice through his throat. She couldn't help but jerk back in pained surprise as the mans head slid off of his body from a clean cut, the body itself crumpling and falling to the ground shortly after.
Emelia looked up with heavy breaths as a pair of somewhat quick footsteps met her ears, meeting the angry, yet somewhat worried gaze of Heisenberg. She was silent as he neared her, only wincing as she shifted on her arm.
"What the fuck was that?!" He asked as soon as he got close enough, gesturing to the now mangled corpses of the 10 other men. "We could have USED those bodies."
She let out a huff, lowering her head.
"... sorry..." came the low reply. She didn't quite feel remorse, Soldat material merely being an afterthought compared to the potential danger letting the men escape was. Heisenberg was silent, his eyes darting to each body before meeting hers with irritation. But his irritation was short lived as he kept his gaze on her, finally giving a sigh and holding out his hand.
"Come here..." He said quietly. She said nothing and simply listened, approaching slowly with heavy breaths.
She nearly flinched as his hand met her jaw, holding it carefully as he looked over her. He frowned as he noticed the bullet wounds in the muscle, taking notice of the one in her shoulder that hadn't healed over.
"Are you alright?" He asked. She nodded.
"Hurts a little..." She managed, more blood seeping down her jaw as she spoke. He sighed.
"Go up and change back, I'll meet you there." He said quietly, using his other hand to pat the top of her head lightly. "I'll take care of this..."
"What will you do...?" She asked, glancing around her. "They'll be noted as missing by the others... They'll come looking."
"I'll give some to the Lycans and throw the rest out to the woods." He shrugged. "I suppose news of a bear attack would be enough to convince them from those claws of yours..."
He couldn't help but smirk as he spoke, and she relaxed slightly. Well, he wasn't entirely wrong...
"That would be one vicious bear..." she managed to joke, the corner of her mouth twitching as he chuckled.
"A perfect fit. Now go on, this needs to be fast before anyone gets too suspicious."
She nodded and fell silent as he sent her off, watching as she limped to the now empty doorway where she noticed the door had quite literally been ripped from the hinges by his powers, the metal twisted and jagged. But she ignored it, making her way through and into the factory tunnels to get back to the surface. There was still pain, but she could deal until he got back... She could feel the bullet still lodged in her arm as she felt the muscles quiver under her weight. Of course she'd wait for him, like he asked... She just hoped he didn't take too long.

PGR - OC
Tumblr media
I got so inspired by everyone’s creativity that I created my own OC ^^” Even though she’s a member of the Purifying Force, I hope she’ll still be received warmly. Special thanks to @punishing-gray-raven-ocs for their detailed posts about character creation that really made me think about Lydias!
Warning: I may have gone a bit overboard with the detail. It’s a long read! Also, I threw in a not-so-subtle reference to the most traumatic Memory Rescue mission lmao. So proceed with caution, I guess HAHA
Name                          Lydias: Umbral
Type                            Offensive Support-type Construct
Service time              1 year
Psychological age    24
Activation date         15 March
Height                         167 cm
Weight                        59 kg
Vital fluid type          O
Faction                        Purifying Force
Rank                            A
Weapon                      Chakrams (preferred) /  Gun
Damage type             70% Dark, 30% Physical
Lydias is a support-type Construct modelled after Watanabe’s Astral frame. She has extreme stealth capabilities and excels at tracking, making her ideal for the execution of rogue and infected Constructs.
Her missions mostly involve infiltration and spying, although she’s also been deployed on assassination missions. Those orders come straight from Nikola and their records are kept top-secret, inaccessible even to Bianca.
Her frame is designed for long-range sniping and comes equipped with visual accuracy enhancements and superb calculative powers. However, Lydias prefers to engage her targets in close combat. Killing Constructs from afar feels cruel and cold, like they really are meaningless machines instead of former comrades.
She truly believes in the good of the Purifying Force, but hates the things she has to do. She doesn’t feel like she belongs, but also can’t see a future for herself anywhere else.
Her fighting style is very graceful, featuring a lot of spins and flips that are reminiscent of a dance. Her signature move is called “Blade Dance.”
B A C K G R O U N D
Lydias was born to a wealthy family in Babylonia. Her mother joined the war effort as a Commandant shortly after she was born and is known as the leader of the elite task force, Cybele. Since then, Lydias has always wanted to follow in her mother’s famous footsteps.
Originally a Commandant of the Black Wolves, a certain incident caused her to give up the position and apply for reconstruction. Despite having low compatibility for Tantalum-193, her application was approved after negotiations with Nikola. Following her surgery, she was transferred to the Purifying Force.
P E R S O N A L I T Y
Shows affection through actions rather than words. Bakes cakes for the humans of Babylonia in her free time
Philosophical, often ponders on the nature of humans and of the war
Likes to make dirty jokes and tease others
Obedient to a fault because she doesn’t trust her own judgement
Comes across as cold, but is just awkward with introductions
Doesn't think very highly of herself. Ignores it when other Constructs call her "traitorous hunting dog" but secretly thinks they're right
Loves the sea and the fathomless depths yet to be explored. Likes to go swimming at every opportunity
Prefers to work alone, but overprotective of her comrades when in a team. Frequently throws herself in harm’s way to shield her teammates. Knows it’s not good, but is too haunted by her past
Trusts easily, but is very guarded with her heart
Knows how to dance a lot of old-school styles like ballroom and ballet, but is too shy to ask anyone to practice with her
S E C R E T S
Has memorised a lot of poetry from before the Punishing Virus outbreak
Gets intensely lonely and jealous when seeing close squad camaraderie like Gray Raven’s
Avoids Kamui because he reminds her of someone she’s lost
Has spied on Watanabe extensively under Babylonian orders and is deeply fascinated by him
Doesn’t trust Nikola, but is unable to disobey his commands
Secretly harbours doubts about Babylonia’s mission to reclaim Earth
Has obtained special permission to download the data of the Black Wolves and often reads the records to keep them alive in her heart
V O I C E   L I N E S
“Team leader? No, I refuse. You’re making a grave mistake.”
“I’m not suited for protecting people.”
“My opinion on the Forsaken? They’re hardworking, loyal, and--Nevermind. We seem to share a similar goal.”
“The Black Wolves? Where did you hear of that name?! Don’t mention it again!”
“I baked a cake today. Would you like some?”
“Yes, I can dance. But I’d prefer it if you didn’t tell the others…”
“I can teach you to dance. Privately, if you’d like. Haha, just kidding.”
“Becoming a Construct was a decision I made rashly. I don’t necessarily regret it, but…”
“Are we really doing the right thing? This endless war… All these years… What have we really achieved?”
INTERLUDE
D U S K F A L L
A voice cracked over the intercom. “...dant…Com...ant...Commandant, do you hear me?!”
Lydias blinked. The urgency in his voice caught her off guard. Ferdinand kept his cool even in the most dire of situations. Something was very wrong. “Tell me, Ferdie.” Static. “Ferds? Come through!” Nothing. Communications had been poor ever since they’d entered this area, but they’d managed until now. For it to suddenly fail like that… it couldn’t be a coincidence.
“Shit,” she said, turning to the other two Constructs with her. “On guard, guys. Something’s coming and comms are down.”
Ilya grimaced. “Sure it’s not one of Ferdinand’s pranks again?”
“I wouldn’t put it past him,” Flora offered, even as she tightened her grip on her lance. “Pesky little bastard would find it hilarious.” Lydias said nothing. She was too tense. There was a taste in the air, a metallic tang that churned in her belly. Sweat dripped into her eye. Suddenly, a hand slapped her on the back. “Relax, Commandant,” Ilya chuckled. “We’ll protect you like always. No need to be so scared all the time.”
Something in her loosened, just a bit. “Shouldn’t I be the one protecting you?” she retorted, trying to project confidence. “You guys with your fragile little M.I.N.Ds?” Flora laughed, a deep-belly rumble that Lydias loved. The knot in her stomach unravelled some more. “You do that, Commandant,” Flora said. “We’ll just twirl our pointy sticks at the bad guys.”
Lydias was just about to say something snarky when she caught movement in the corner of her eye. She swirled, gun at the ready. There was still no word from Ferdinand. “I’m sensing a large Corrupted force in our perimeter,” Ilya reported. His voice had lost its casual lilt. “They’ve got us surrounded.”
Lydias cursed. “How’s that Memory retrieval coming along?”
“Slowly,” Ilya replied unhappily. Flora clicked her tongue. The Corrupted were visible now. They weren’t like anything Lydias had seen before. They carried advanced weapons - chainsaws and spears and bows - and seemed to be organised into phalanxes. Dread coiled in her belly. “We’ve been ambushed,” she breathed in horror. “Ferdinand tried to warn us. They must have blocked off comms.”
“Well, shit,” Flora grunted. The Corrupted army was within gunshot range now. “When the fuck did they get so smart?”
“Someone must be leading them,” Ilya said. “How did the information leak?”
“Doesn’t matter,” Lydias said. “We need to retreat. Now.” A bullet flew by her head, burning the shell of her ear as it passed. Her heart hammered. “Back off,” Flora growled. She twirled her spear, eyes flashing as she impaled the Corrupted soldier. Beside her, Ilya stepped forward, fast as a flash, and stabbed one through the neck. Lydias fired off three shots, watching in grim satisfaction as two buried themselves in the heads of two infected Constructs.
The scene descended into chaos just as Ferdinand’s broken voice sounded in her ear. “...n...way! Comm...ant!”
-----------
Flora stumbled back. She was breathing heavily. Vital fluid leaked steadily from several places, staining her coat a rich purple. Ilya was behind her, grimacing. His left arm was gone, torn away at the shoulder. Sparks flew from the exposed wires within. Beside them, Lydias swayed unsteadily. She clutched at her stomach. Red blood seeped through her fingers. All their attempts to break through had failed. Things were looking more hopeless by the minute.
“Commandant,” Ilya said, voice strained. “Turn off my pain receptors.” Flora nodded. “Same here.” Lydias coughed wetly. Her vision was growing dim. “It’s dangerous,” she admitted, wishing she could shut off her own terrible pain. “But there’s no other choice.” She authorised the command. Her team’s face relaxed immediately. She met their determined gazes and nodded. “We’re all gonna go home. Together.”
Ilya smiled. Flora grinned. But there was a sadness in their faces Lydias didn’t want to acknowledge. Her connection with Ferdinand was still blocked. He could be dead for all she knew. She turned away from the thought. Just survive, Lydias. And take the Wolves home.
Together, the Black Wolves rose. Ilya with his dagger and Flora with her spear. Unseen by Lydias, they nodded to each other. An agreement, a pact. A promise. Renewed, they threw themselves at the Corrupted like cornered animals. Slowly, inch by painful inch, an exit was being forced open. Corrupted weapons dug into their bodies, but they pushed on.
Lydias fought beside them, swinging her chakrams haphazardly. Her gun had run out of ammo long ago. She stumbled, half-blind, and almost skewered herself on the end of a Corrupted sword. She could hardly think straight; blood loss was making her weak. Suddenly, a voice crackled in her mind. “Commandant!” Ferdinand’s voice tumbled through her hazy thoughts. “The signal jammer is gone. What’s your status?!”
Her heart soared, bringing with it a brief burst of clarity. “Ferdie! It’s an ambush. We need support!”
“I’ve already informed Babylonia,” he said urgently. “Reinforcement is on the way. I’m coming to you, Commandant. Just hold on!” His signal blinked to life, moving rapidly towards their location. Lydias smiled grimly. Ferdinand was on his way. Support was coming. Surely, they would be okay. They would make it out of this. She just had to hold on for a little longer.
Flora’s signal pulsed unsteadily and Ilya’s grew fainter with every breath. Lydias clung with desperation to the unstable M.I.N.Ds of her Wolves. I will protect you.
-----------
“Coming through!” A ray of energy tore through the Corrupted wave. Lydias spied Ferdinand’s face through the sea of blades. She almost wept with relief. “Retreat,” she said hoarsely, struggling to stay conscious. “Black Wolves, retreat!”
On cue, Ilya and Flora rushed through the tunnel, half-carrying Lydias with them. Between one ferocious breath and the next, they’d broken through the Corrupted circle. She tumbled bonelessly into Ferdinand’s open arms. He took a brief moment to survey her and paled. “The meeting point isn’t far,” he said. “Support will be there.” He picked up Lydias and turned to run, but Ilya and Flora didn’t follow.
“Sorry, but this is the end of the road for me,” Flora said wryly. “Didn’t think it’d end like this.” She spat out a wad of purple fluid. “At least these fuckers will go down with me.”
“And you get the privilege of dying by my side,” Ilya said primly, readjusting his grip on his dagger. Flora laughed, an edge of sadness in her voice. “Yeah, old man, I guess I do.”
Lydias stirred in Ferdinand’s arms. “No,” she said, forcing herself to meet their gazes. “I won’t allow it.”
“Unfortunately, Commandant,” Ilya said. “This time it’s not up to you.” He raised his remaining hand in a salute. “It’s been a pleasure working with you.”
“Go on,” Flora growled. “We’ll make sure nobody pursues you.”
Ferdinand pursed his lips, but nodded tightly. Lydias fought in his grip. She hardly even felt the pain. “No!” she screamed, or tried to. It was hard to tell where her voice was. “Don’t! I forbid it! That’s an order!” He started running. She watched helplessly as the distance grew. “Stop! Go back, we have to help them! Stop!”
In the fading light, Ilya fell and was immediately consumed by a horde of Corrupted hands. His signal weakened then blinked out. A scream tore itself from her throat. She thrashed in Ferdinand’s grip and felt his hold on her loosen. White-hot pain shot through her body as she tumbled to the ground. Mad with grief, she crawled forward desperately, mind blank except for the desire to be with her Wolves.
Strong arms lifted her up. Ferdinand’s lively voice was dull. “Please don’t do this, Lydias.”
“Let go, Ferdie,” she said angrily. “We have to--” Flora’s signal flickered out. Lydias felt her spirit break. “No,” she cried. “Please, no.” Tears streamed down her cheeks. Words abandoned her. The world seemed to shrink, compacting to a single thought: she had failed.
-----------
She woke to white light. Something beeped steadily beside her. Tubes ran from her body to several machines like the tentacles of some deep sea creature. Her entire body hurt. Immediately, she reached for the Black Wolves, but their signals were absent, leaving her mind uncomfortably empty. Panic settled like ice in her veins. It couldn’t be. It was impossible.
Surely, they had recalled their consciousnesses. Surely, she’d simply woken up early. And where was Ferdie? Gasping, Lydias stood, dragging her broken body to the wall of windows. She brought a fist to the cool glass. Nikola watched her from the other side. “Where are they,” she croaked. “What happened?”
He shook his head sympathetically. “They didn’t recall their consciousness. According to our records, Ilya and Flora died protecting you from pursuit. Ferdinand was infected.” His eyes were grave. “He guarded you until reinforcements arrived.”
She didn’t know if she could bear the answer, but she asked anyway. “And then?”
Nikola studied her for a long moment before giving in. “And then the Punishing Virus took over his M.I.N.D. He escaped because we prioritised your survival.” A desperate hope sparked to life within her. “So he’s still alive? Then there’s still a chance! Please, let me find him!”
“You know it doesn’t work like that.”
“Please,” she begged. “Please.”
He turned away from her. “The Purifying Force has already been sent after him. I’m sorry, Lydias.”
-----------
Three weeks later
“Are you sure?” Nikola asked, studying her with intensity. “Your chances of success are only 47%.”
Lydias stared at him blankly. “I’m sure.”
“I’m afraid I can’t allow it. Commandants are valuable to Babylonia. Perhaps even more than Constructs. Few possess the will and compatibility to stabilize M.I.N.Ds. Someone as experienced as you is not expendable.”
“Then I quit being a Commandant. I refuse to lead another squad.” She looked away. “I couldn’t protect any of them. Not a single one.” Her voice broke. “I’m not… I don’t think I can--I just can’t.”
Nikola considered her with some pity. “What do you want then, Lydias?”
“You know what I want. I’m not afraid of dying.”
“I know you’re not afraid, but it seems to me like you seek it.”
She said nothing. Nikola sighed. “I’d rather not lose you completely. You have experience and ability. The Black Wolves were specifically chosen for that mission for your competence. Aife will increase our combat power significantly against the Corrupted.” He pinched the bridge of his nose. “It’s unfortunate, but these things happen at war.”
“Say whatever you want,” Lydias said stubbornly. “But this is my final decision.”
“Fine,” Nikola said. “Your attempt at redemption is admirable. I’ll grant your request, but if you survive, you’ll work directly under me. Is that acceptable?”
“Perfectly.”

Flora: Fairfrost - Voice Log
*sounds of fighting* I hope this reaches you, Commandant. I don’t think I’m gonna last much longer and… *grunting* I just wanna say goodbye. The old man’s already gone. I felt his signal die out a while ago. He went down taking a blade for me, can you believe it? Even though I’m the Attacker Construct. *panting* You know what his last words to me were? “It hurts.” As if our pain receptors weren’t turned off. I know what he means though. *blades clashing* After all, we all wanna go back home with you. But life’s a bit unfair, eh? For once, I don’t mind. Protecting your back… it almost makes me feel like a hero. That ain’t something you experience every day, y’know? *metal tearing* I guess what I’m trying to say is thank you. For being someone worthy of love. *crash, wet coughing* It’s been my honour and privilege to have been one of your Wolves, Commandant. You’ll remember me, won’t you?
-----------
Ferdinand: Aegis - Voice Log
Lydias… This will probably be my last communication with you. I never would have thought this would be how it ends, but… Well, I’m just glad that I get to spend my final moments with you. I can feel my M.I.N.D. slipping, but Babylonia will be here any second now. They’ll take care of you, the way I wish I could. *sigh* Ah, there are so many things I want to say. I have nothing to lose anymore, so I hope you’re ready to listen. *deep breath* I love you. The way you laugh at my jokes and tease me. The way you can talk about anything. Your smile, your lips. I love the way you kiss me. And of course, I love our late night activities… Such as you trying to teach me to dance. *short laughter* Were you expecting me to say something else, Commandant? You--*grunt, glitching* Looks like my time is running out. I should go, but promise me one thing, Lydias. Promise me you’ll keep your heart open, so that someone else can love you as you deserve. I--You--*glitches*

*****
A few weeks have passed, mid September is finally here, and the search for Joseph Seed continues. The lead Paige found turned out to be false, and was just an abandoned, small village with a bunch of mannequins and some druggie. Goddamn cops. Damn pigs with their false leads.
Kenny, Mark, Nate, Cody, Adrian and a few other locals are putting up 2 more houses on the property. They've been putting them up for almost a month now. Since both Paige and Kate are pregnant, Mark, Nate, Adrian, Marty, and Cody’s families are coming to live with them.
So building 2 more houses will help with the expanding family of hunters.
Kate and Wheaty have gotten a lot closer, finally making their relationship official, despite them making out several times already. Him learning some things about his new girlfriend, like her knowing how to ride a skateboard.
"I didn't know you skate!" he tells her. She laughs softly, "Yeah, I've been skating for years now" she tells him.
She rides around the driveway of her house, showing him some tricks. Landing a kickflip, an ollie and all other basic skating tricks and techniques.
"Even though I'm pregnant I can still skate!" she jokes. Stops in front of him, while standing on the board. Wraps her arms around his neck, and kisses him. He breaks the kiss after a several seconds.
"So!" he says, "How did you know that I liked you?".
She chuckles, "It was quite obvious. You were always nervous around me. Very awkward".
He laughs, "Well isn't that how most people act when they're around someone they like?. You're a psychologist so you should know!".
She gives him a quick peck on the lips, "It's a very common sign".
As they're making out like a couple of teenagers.
The guys are putting the foundation of the houses, cutting up wood to build the walls.
“Paige!!!” Kenny calls out for his wife, as he looks around for his extra tools and other materials.
“Yeah?!?” she responds, standing by the back door.
“Can you get me a hammer, electric saw and the jar of nails from the shed. Please” he asks.
She looks down at the 9 month old infant in her baby wrap.
“Umm” she points to their infant daughter, “I’m a little preoccupied here!!”.
“Please. They’re not on the top shelf” he says.
She rolls her eyes, “Okay, I’ll be back”.
“Thank you!!” he responds, measuring the pieces of wood.
Paige walks to the shed they have in the back of their property.
“The stuff your daddy makes me do” she says to Cristina, “You’re gonna be a big sister!. A brother? A little sister?”.
She opens the shed door, a radio on the metal table making an annoying static sound.
“Damn, old ass radio” she mutters as she looks around the jar of nails, and hammer.
Sighing, as she looks around for the hardware tools, “Okay where are you?!?”.
She finds the hammer in a tool box a few inches above her head. As she reaches for the hammer, and grabs it. She bumps into the metal table with the radio on it. The static goes away, becoming clear and an old nightmare of hers comes back.
Only you can make all this world seem right
Only you can make the darkness bright
Paige gasps loudly, drops the hammer, bumping into the shelves knocking over jars, and boxes of tools, grabbing her head. The song plays distortedly, flashbacks from when she was locked in a cage, being tortured by Jacob and going through his trials. Killing those innocent people. His words replaying over, and over in her head.
TRAIN, HUNT, KILL, SACRIFICE. CULL THE HERD.
Her vision turns red, and black. She starts to hyperventilate. Her screams get trapped in her throat.
Flashing images of dead carcusses of people and animals. The wolves. The Judges. That stupid music box Jacob had to fuck up his victims minds.
Kenny, Adrian, Mandy, Mark, Nate, Kate, Wheaty and everyone else on the property hear Paige’s panicked screams, and Cristina’s cries. They all run to the shed, and find her on the ground screaming, clenching her head.
Cristina crying, and wailing. Only You playing on the radio.
Kate goes to turn off the radio.
“Paige!!!” Kenny yells, shaking her shoulders, “Paige!!”. She stops screaming, her voice turning hoarse and raspy. Tears streaming down her face, and hyperventilating.
He takes Cristina from the wrap, and hands her to Mandy, and takes her inside.
“Hey, are you okay?!” Kenny asks, comforting his wife.
She shakes her head, crying into her husband's chest, “No, No. Jacob may be dead but he still lurks in my head”.  He holds his wife, closely, comforting her. Stroking her hair. He, and Mark help her up, and take her inside the house. Sitting at the kitchen table with her mom, sister and Rachel.
“What happened?!” Kate asks.
Stammers over her words, “I-I went to go get a hammer, saw and nails for Kenny. I bumped into the table with the old radio. Then I heard “Only You” play, and I had flashbacks from St. Francis, when I was locked in that cage”.
Crying softly. Thinking of all that would go away when she killed Jacob a month earlier, but apparently it looks like his spirit is sticking around for a while to torment Paige.
“The images from his stupid slideshow, the trials. Me killing those innocent people under his control with that fucking music box”.
Mandy places her hand on her eldest daughter's hand, “It’ll go away. We’ll work on it”.
Kate clears her throat, “Speaking of Jacob. That day when you kill him, and uh- and I killed John, when we were sent on that Bliss trip. What did you see?”.
Looking down at her hands, Paige says, her voice shaken, “The night dad was killed”.
She turns to Kate, “I saw everything, the whole house went up in flames, and I woke up”.
“I saw the same thing” Mandy says, “Then it was the day I lost both of you”.
“What did you see?!” Paige asks Kate.
“It was from that day Morgan and I exorcised the demon out of John”.
Rachel turns to Kate in confusion, “John got possessed by a demon?!?”.
She nods her head, “Yeah, the demon that was possessing him. Saleos. He had John kill me”.
All 3 of their eyes widened, “You were dead?!?” Mandy exclaims.
Nodding her head, “Yeah, I was strangled by “John”. He couldn’t stop him. I was dead for an hour then Castiel brought me-”
“Cas was there!?!?!” Paige interrupts her, “I don’t mean to interrupt but he was there?!?”.
Kate exhales, “Yeah he was there, he told me I met an untimely death that wasn’t supposed to happen, and that I wasn’t supposed to die. Where I was, was the final stop before getting into Heaven, like a plane of existence. The Other Side is what he called it. Then he brought me back to Earth, and I went back into my body. He wiped John’s memory of being possessed, me being dead and all that shit. But the memory of him being possessed can be restored by me, and only me. If I were to bring it up to him”.
Rachel looks at all three of them, confused and asks “So you said you were dead?!?”.
“Yes” Kate answers.
“Castiel? Like the Angel?!” she asks, trying to keep up with what’s going on.
“Yeah, the Angel” Paige answers.
“I also want to mention that same day when demon John killed me, and I was in The Other Side. I finally met dad” she says, her voice going soft.
Mandy and Paige look at each other, then back at Kate.
“You- you met dad?!?” Paige asks in disbelief.
Kate nods, shedding a single tear, “Yeah, Cas brought him there. I saw that exact same thing when I was on my bliss trip at St. Francis”.
Paige narrows her eyes at her, and looks around in disbelief, “Wait, so on your Bliss trip. You saw demon John killing you via strangulation, then you were taken to The Other Side or Limbo basically, where you saw yourself talk to our dead dad?! And Castiel was there?”.
Trying to process all that she said, “Yeah, pretty much” she chuckles.
“Bliss-ception” Paige jokes, “Or death-ception”.
“So what did you and your dad talk about?!” Mandy asks.
Trying to hold back her tears, “I asked him what happened to me, what happened that night when he was killed. Azazel killed him, and that same demon did it to our cousin's mom, Mary, several years earlier in the same way, and that's how most of us Winchester’s go out. I told him that I never got to know him, and he said in these exact words, “I know you didn’t. That’s why you’re here, it was a chance for you to finally meet me”.”
Mandy starts to tear up. Holding her head up with her fists placed underneath her chin.
“Then he asked me “How’s your mother and Paige?”, and the final words he said to me before he disappeared. They still play in my head to this day, they were “I’m always watching over you”.”
All of them crying, softly sobbing uncontrollably. Rachel started to get teary eyed just by hearing all of this.
“So. So all of you have died, and came back?!?” she asks.
All three of them nod, “I’ve died 9 times” Paige says.
“I’ve died 4 times” Kate says, lifting her hand up a bit.
“3 times” Mandy says.
Learning about what this family does for a living. Traveling across the country, killing monsters.
**********
Later that night, Rachel is in her room, sitting on her bed reading.
She gets a knock at her door, “Yes?” she responds.
The door opens, and Kate steps inside, “Hey”, she says.
“Hi” she responds looking up from her book.
“You okay?” she asks, concern in her voice.
Rachel nods her head, “Yeah, I’m fine”
Nodding her head, “Okay, good. Because umm you looked a bit shaken up from what we were talking about earlier” Kate says, sitting down on a chair by the bed.
Rachel closes her book, setting it down on her nightstand.
“Have you ever met God?” she asks.
Kate nods her head, “Chuck is his name. He’s a writer”
She sits up in her bed, “So when Paige said “We’re all just a part of his story” that wasn’t a metaphor, or anything?”.
She shakes her head, “No. It wasn’t a metaphor or anything. We’re all just a book. We’re all a part of his story”.
Rachel looks down at the floor for a few moments. Kate clears her throat, and says.
“I know Paige, and pretty much everyone living here would be completely against this, but is there anyway, or a chance you can get a hold of some Bliss?!”
She looks at her with a head tilt, “I may have a vial. Why?”.
Embarrassed, and ashamed to even think about why she wants it. She takes a deep breath, and says.
“Because I, and I hate to admit it, but I want to see John again. Even if it’s an old memory of us happy together”.
Kate starts to tear up, “I don’t know why he still has this affect on me!!. It’s like I can’t let him go. Like he’s entwined with me, a part of me. That day when he died, he looked me in the eye before taking his last breath. I’m with Wheaty now, I can’t be having these feelings for an ex partner of mine that is dead!!”.
“He took your virginity, didn’t he?” she asks, looking at her with soft puppy like eyes.
Nodding her head while tears stream down her cheeks.
“Yeah, yeah he was my first time. I wanted to lose it to someone who was worthy enough to take it. John, at the time was worthy enough, to me, to take it, but now I'm starting to think I wished someone else took it".
Rachel places her hand on Kate’s hand.
“That’s why. He took something from you that you can never get back, and he left his spawn inside you. Growing”.
Kate’s breathing turns shakey, that ball in her throat making it hard for her to speak.
“I think maybe, seeing him again, maybe it’ll help me get him out of my head” she was able to speak up.
Rachel gets up from her bed, and goes to her closet. Going through one of her bags, and pulls out a small vial of the pale green drug.
“Here” she says, handing her the small vial, “If you concentrate hard enough. You will be able to communicate with John even if he’s dead”.
She looks at the vial, examining it. “So do I drink it? Or?”
“You can drink a little bit of it, or you can inhale it” she answers.
“Okay, thank you” she says, getting up from the chair, and leaves her room.
*********
An hour later everyone is asleep, Kate is getting ready for bed. She looks over at the vial of bliss Rachel gave her an hour ago. Contemplating whether or not to take a sip, or sniff of it, or just not use it at all.
She locks her bedroom door, grabs the vial, opens it, and takes a long, deep inhale of the hallucinogenic drug. Quickly closing the bottle, setting it down on her desk.
Concentrating hard on seeing John again, and maybe tell him to get out of her head. She’s ashamed to say to herself. Let alone think of it. Her vision starts to get blurry, white, green, red, and disoriented. Everything is tripping out.
Sparks flying, she falls back on her bed. Letting the drug do it’s thing. After a few minutes have passed, feeling like she’s falling. Feeling light as a feather.
*Into the Bliss*
She wakes up in a white, and green wonderland.
The sky green, the clouds a whitish pale green. The sun shining down on her, warming her up.
“Holy fuck" she whispers, “That shit worked”.
A jackalope rabbit sitting at her feet. It hops away when she moves, and sits up.
Her clothes are different from what she was wearing earlier.
A plain white, knee length flannel dress, and no shoes on. Her hair in a clean well done braid.
A princess cut diamond ring on her left ring finger.
She looks around, and sees that she’s laying in a field by a huge tree with a tire swing attached to it.
"What the fuck?!?!" she mutters to herself.
She continues to look around the blissed out wasteland.
“Kate!?!” a distorted male voice echos.
She looks behind her, and sees a figure approaching her through the cloud of bliss 30 feet away. The clouds of bliss as the figure approaches her give off a wing like shape behind them. She stands up, and slowly approaches them.
“Kate!?!” the voice says again slightly clearer but still distorted.
“John?” she mutters confused, as she slowly approaches the other person.
“Kate!?” they say again.
It takes her a moment to realize it’s John’s voice.
“John!?!” she yells out. Slight hope in her voice.
The figure gets closer, and she is immediately brought to shameful tears when she sees that it’s really John.
“John?!” she says again, tears streaming down her face. A huge smile on her face. Just by seeing him she forgets why she wanted the drug in the first place. To tell his ass off.
“I’m here darlin” he says, smiling, his voice echoing throughout the hallucination.
Those perfect blue eyes staring back at her. Placing his hands on her waist, pulling her closer to him. She places her hands on his shoulders. They stare at each other for what felt like years. Decades. Centuries. A Millennium. Their foreheads touching.
He looks down at her stomach, his hands placed where her baby bump would be.
“She’s gonna be so beautiful” he tells her.
Confused, Kate looks down, and sees that her stomach had grown bigger. Telling herself it's all part of the hallucination, and that she doesn’t have to go in panic mode.
John kneels down, and kisses her baby bump.
Feeling the baby kick. Tears running down her cheeks, this is what she wanted, but she knows she'll never have it. This is the closest she’ll ever get to having a family with John. He stands up, and kisses Kate on the lips. Holding her close in his arms. Her arms wrapped around his neck.
One of his hands on her lower back, the other holding the back of her head.
He lifts her up, his arms wrapped around her lower half. He slowly spins in a circle with the love of his life in his arms. Kissing her.
Even though this is all a hallucination and John is most likely buried 6 feet underground. Everything felt so real. Kate buries her face in the crook of his neck as he slowly spins her around.
It doesn't dawn on her that she wanted to tell John to leave her alone and get out of her head because she's with someone else. Looking like a total clown.
The sound of a baby cooing, catches her attention. She looks over to her right, and sees a white crib in the middle of the field.  John puts her down, taking her hand in his, and they walk towards the crib.
Looking down at her stomach, seeing it had shrunk back to its normal size from before.
"Okay this trip is getting way too personal" she thinks to herself, "And I hate it!".
They approach the crib, and see a baby girl who looks about 6 months old in a pink, and white onesie.
Black hair like Kate’s, and blue eyes like John.
The name above her on the headboard of the crib says “Daenerys A.B. Seed”.
John picks her up from the crib, cradling her in his arms. Smiling down at his infant daughter.
“She looks just like you” he says, turning to Kate.
“She has your eyes” she says to him, holding her tiny foot.
He hands her to Kate. Baby Daenerys looks so much like her with John’s blue eyes. Cradling her in her arms, they look down at their beautiful little girl. Trying her best not to cry again.
She puts her back in the crib, and turns to John. Cupping his cheeks, and kisses him. Embracing her tightly. She closes her eyes, resting her head on his shoulder.
He rocks her slowly in his arms. Hoping for this to never ever end. If she could stay here forever with him, and their daughter she would. She would have no problem with that.
“Kate!!” another voice speaks out from behind her. She pulls away from John and looks behind her. Looking around and seeing no one, just the hallucinations of the Bliss, and it's weird, mutant animals. Thinking it's her father since he was there in her Bliss trip back at St. Francis.
She turns back to face him and sees another man's face looking back at her. Holding her.
“Hello sweet-cheeks!!!” Gabriel greets her with a huge smile.
She can literally hear a record scratch in her head as he says this. Eyes widened, mouth falling slightly open.
“Gabriel?!? What are you doing here?!?” she exclaims, trying to release herself from his hold.
“You shouldn’t be here” he tells her, “You need to get out".
Confused to why her guardian Archangel is here. In her Bliss hallucination, “What?!? Why?!?”.
“You need to leave, and forget about John” he tells her, “He’s no good and you know that. I'd tell you, but you'll find out in the weeks to come".
Still confused, and stumped “I-I don’t. What? Tell me what?!!?".
“It’s important that you get out of here!” he tells her. Cupping her cheeks.
Shaking her head, “This isn’t real. This isn’t real, you’re a hallucination!!” she yells out.
"You're a hallucination!" he sasses her.
“Where’s John?!?” she orders him to tell her.
“He was never here. It was all me. I’m more real than your psychedelic drug trip” the Archangel tells her, “I’m real. This isn’t. You need to leave. John is dead. That's it, you can't save him!”.
Before she could protest against him, Gabriel snaps his fingers and makes a cloud-like portal appear behind her. She looks back, sees the cloud rift portal, and turns back to him.
"You might hate me for this" he tells her and aggressively pushes her through the rift portal back to her universe.
Kate wakes up in a cold sweat, confused. Not sure how long she was out, she looks out her window and sees the sun rising up from behind the mountains.
Her hallucination happened throughout the whole night? Even though it felt like it was 10 minutes. Trickster making himself known by pretending to be John and telling her to get over him, move on with her life. What the actual fuck Gabriel?!?.

Blood & Bond
Genre: Angst | Fluff | Supernatural!au | Werewolf!au | College!au | OT12 (altho you only get to see Tao....)
Pairing: None....yet....
Length: 16.4k
Warning: OC | Language
Summary: Kai and his little pack of werewolf cubs’ lives get a lot more interesting when a pretty foreign girl with special abilities decides to befriend them.
Author’s Note: I finished reading Running With Wolves (debatably one of the best werewolf exo aus ever written and maybe even the best werewolf story ever written idk read it if you havent I swear it doesn't matter who your bias is you will fall for kai!!!) and was like ‘I wanna write a werewolf!au’, but this doesnt touch a candle to the genius that is that story which is why I kinda stopped writing it. I want to make it darker, a bit more mature, so here is this! If I ever decide to humor myself and rewrite it, it will be completely different. So, enjoy this, cause, I mean, its pretty good!!! also who else misses ot12???? Just me??? ok....

1. The Witch…Kinda Sorta
“I’m open! I’m open!”
The crunching sound of sneakers against gravel could be heard around the area as a small group of young men ran across the basketball court at a park. It was an intense game, the boys were snarling at one another, not afraid to push and shove to gain the upper hand.
After ten minutes, one of the boys jumped up and with the flick of his wrists, scored the final three points.
“We win,” he grinned after the echoing swish of his victory faded into the trees.
“You cheated,” one of the boys from the other team muttered, wiping the dripping sweat off of his forehead while others around him fell to the floor, breathing hard and exhausted.
“You always say that when you lose,” one of the guys who was on the ground whined, yanking the boy’s ankle, causing him to stumble to the asphalt. They all chuckled around him.
He just sighed.
The young man who had scored the winning points tossed the sore loser a bottle of water, which he took gratefully. “Thanks, Kai.”
“No problem, Chanyeol. Also, I didn’t cheat.”
“Whatever.” He rolled his eyes and chugged half of the bottle.
The six boys sat around in silence, drinking, snacking, and just enjoying the chilling wind dry their damp skin.
“Do you smell that?” One of them asked the others, his big eyes widening.
They all paused, sniffing the air and shaking their heads.
“It smells like a fire.”
A different one shrugged, “it’s probably a forest fire or something, Kyungsoo. Nothing to worry about.”
Kyungsoo shook his head. “No, Tao, it’s close.”
He stood up and brushed off his shorts, heading towards the smell that only he could distinguish.
The boys that he had left glanced nervously at each other before standing up as well and following their somewhat peculiar friend.
They trudged around the trees, past the playground and the water fountain, until they were surrounding the restrooms that were on the opposite side of the park.
The cement wall that was around the tiny building was covered in graffiti, and the two doors were slightly ajar.
As they approached the deserted restrooms, one of the taller boys began to cough, “ugh, Kyungsoo, you were right. Someone definitely started a fire.”
“And it’s coming from the back.”
Slowly, the group began to circle the building, and once they were at the back of the structure they paused with shock.
In front of them was a young woman. She was kneeling, her back facing them, and in front of her was a pile of black char.
“Uh….” One of the boys named Jongdae was able to muster. His rumbling voice startled the girl, and she spun around in surprise, nearly falling into the pile of black.
The boys gulped once they saw her face. She was a foreigner, which was easy to tell with her deeply tanned skin and big curly brown hair. She was wearing a pleaded skirt and a black tank top with a green plaid shirt on that was hanging off her exposed shoulders. She also had a gray sweater tied around her waist, torn black stockings and dirty combat boots.
“What are you doing?” Kai asked her with raised eyebrows.
“Uh….” She mimicked Jongdae as she slowly climbed to her feet. Her shock seemed to fade once she was standing straight, and she grinned while shrugging, “nothing?”
“That doesn’t look like nothing,” Jongdae said with narrowed eyes, his arms crossed over his chest.
“It doesn’t smell like nothing either,” Tao added with his nose scrunched with disgust. Sehun, who was right behind him, made a show of waving his hand in front of his nose.
The girl laughed nervously, “Well, it’s nothing that you boys need concern yourself with.”
She began to turn back to her work, but froze once she realized something. Her lips curled knowingly as she returned her gaze to the group of males, placing her fists on her hips, “you all are werewolves.”
That startled the group, and the six boys began talking loudly at once, trying to dismiss her wild accusation.
She sighed, “It’s alright, calm down.” They all stopped in unison and stared at her with awe. “Well, I guess since you all are a part of the super realm… I’ll let you in on my doings.”
“Super…?” Chanyeol’s eyebrows scrunched together with confusion.
“I was casting a spell,” the girl informed the group. “I’m trying to… well, recall some things… I guess you could say. I read a book earlier, and it said that burning a certain type of branch could bring suppressed memories to the forefront. But, as you can see, it didn’t work like it should have.”
Everyone eyed the pathetic pile of burnt ash.
“Anyways,” the girl began, twirling back to the werewolves. “I’m Sloane.”
“And you’re a witch,” Tao inferred.
Sloane’s eyes narrowed at the tall boy, “I am not a witch!”
Static surrounded the cramped space and a second after the six males were on the hard ground, on top one another, unconscious.
Sloan smirked at her handy work, brushed her hands together and hopped over the bodies lying on the floor, strutting away from the restrooms.
~*~
“Yesterday was weird,” Sehun pouted the following morning. The six friends were huddled on the lawn in front of their university. It was a small and rather prestigious school with only four hundred students. Unlike most universities, the students were required to wear uniforms and a lot of the rules were similar to high school.
“I feel like I dreamt the whole thing,” Tao said, adjusting the strap on his shoulder.
Kai groaned, “I really don’t want to be here.”
“Aw, come on!” Jongdae cheered, ruffling Kai’s silky brown locks, making his hair look messier than it was prior. “School’s fun.”
“You only say that because your super power is sweet talking teachers to give you good grades,” Chanyeol rolled his eyes, but the huge grin on Jongdae’s face stayed planted.
“I like school,” Kyungsoo mumbled, causing the other boys to sigh and head inside.
The six of them were only freshman, yet they already held a reputation. As they walked the halls, others stopped and stared—some with envy, others with lust. They were easily the best looking in the school, it also helped that they had a strange rebellious aura that made girls swoon over them.
“They’re staring,” Kai, who couldn’t handle the fame to save his life, whispered to Jongdae, who loved his fame all too much.
“They always stare, Kai. I’m surprised you aren’t used to it by now. Nothing’s changed since high school.”
“Don’t they have something better to do?” He asked, voice rising with exasperation.
Jongdae shrugged and tapped Kai’s chin. “Enjoy it while it lasts, Kiddo. We only have three more years of this.”
“You’re literally three months older than me!” The younger yelled, his hands curling into fists.
“Blah, blah, blah!” Jongdae replied just as passionately.
“Kyungsoo!” Kai whined, wrapping himself around the smaller boy.
“Jongdae, leave Jongin alone, would you?”
Jongdae gulped as Kyungsoo glared at him and nodded quickly, running towards the front of the group to avoid the dark energy emanating from Kyungsoo’s eyes.
At lunchtime, the six schoolboys trickled into the cafeteria and sat around their usual table in the middle of the room. They ate quietly for the most part, some doing homework, a couple were playing cards and betting their chips, Kai was complaining to Tao how much he hated his math class while Tao slowly ate Kai’s rice.
A loud plop on the end of their table startled them, and once they all whipped around to where the noise came from, they jumped. The witch from the day before, Sloane, was standing at the end of their table, hands on hips and eyes slightly narrowed as she scanned the werewolves.
“So it wasn’t a dream,” Sehun muttered, gawking at the figure hovering over their table.
“Mind if I sit, fellow classmates?” She asked and slid into one of the last remaining two chairs before anyone had time to object. She began scarfing down her rice nearly frantically and the boys sat frozen, staring at her with wide eyes.
“The food here is to die for,” she moaned with her mouth stuffed with food. That seemed to knock some sense into the others, unpausing them, and they all began to eat their food as well—all while keeping an eye on the new girl that was currently sitting right beside Kyungsoo.
He scaled her lean body with his eyes, and couldn’t help but to grin at how she was wearing her uniform. The skirt rolled up, so that it ended slightly above her mid-thigh, her dress shirt half tucked, a few buttons at the top undone, her jacket sleeves pushed up to her elbows. She still wore black stockings, but these ones ended above her knees and her scuffed combat boots hugged her feet comfortably. Her hair was still wild and free and she was covered in jewelry—her neck, fingers, ears and wrists wrapped in gold and black.
The dishevelment of her uniform resembled Kai’s.
“How… How are you here?” Tao finally sputtered, the other guys seemed to all let out a collective breath of relief with the question finally out in the open.
Sloane glanced at all the people at the table and giggled softly, “I enrolled.”
“Are you stalking us?” Sehun asked her rudely, his usually soft features hardening into a glare.
She flat out laughed at that, it ringed mockingly, “of course not! I enrolled about two weeks ago. It’s a coincidence that we bumped into each other yesterday. Either that or fate. Most likely fate though….” Her last few words were muttered, her talking more to herself then the boys, but they heard it regardless and they seemed to tense at the word.
“Is today your first day?” Kyungsoo quietly asked the young witch. She nodded. “Mind if I see your schedule?”
She smiled shyly before digging into her bag until she found the slip of paper she needed. Kyungsoo scanned it, nodding here and there and finally gave it back to her, “we have english together, along with Chanyeol. You and Chanyeol also have biology together. You have history with Jongdae and Sehun and trig with Kai.”
She nodded slowly, digesting what he just said before opening her mouth to ask, “So who is who?”
“Oh, right, I forgot we haven’t introduced ourselves,” Kyungsoo chuckled, scratching the back of his head. One by one, the werewolves introduced themselves to Sloane.
Except Kai.
He just watched the strange girl as she blinked at him expectantly.
Finally Kyungsoo sighed and gestured to the broody male, “that is Kai. Don’t mind him, he doesn’t bite.”
“Depends on the time of day,” Jongdae added, causing them to chuckle.
“It’s nice meeting you all,” Sloane grinned. “It’s been a while since I’ve stumbled across someone from the super realm.”
“The super realm?”
“Yeah, folks with supernatural abilities. Such as werewolves, vampires, and wi—” She seemed to choke on the last word.
“Witches? Just like you are?” Kai finally broke his silence, studying her intently.
Her eyes darkened as they met his, “I’m not a witch…Kai?”
He shrugged and chugged his milk. Their lunch break came to an end and Kyungsoo and Chanyeol lead Sloane to their next class.
~*~
“She can’t hang out with us,” Kai informed his pack. Class had finally ended and the six of them instantly headed up to the rooftop, where they usually went when they had to talk about something serious on school grounds.
“Why not?” Sehun asked his leader, he tilted his head like a curious puppy.
“There is something off about her,” Kai elaborated. “I get strange vibes from her.”
“It’s her power,” Chanyeol shrugged. “She’s very powerful. I’m surprised we didn’t notice it yesterday.”
“There are a lot of things you didn’t notice yesterday,” Kyungsoo muttered with an eye roll, remembering the fire only he could smell.
Kai shook his head, “I don’t think that’s it. I mean, yeah she’s definitely powerful, but there is something else about her that puts me on edge.”
“Is it her sense of fashion?” Tao asked with true concern. “I mean, her uniform was like the female version of yours—”
“No it wasn’t!” Kai snapped, huffing as the others started laughing. He pinched the bridge of his nose, “I’m being serious. She can’t be around us.”
A few of the boys sighed, but had to obey their alpha’s order.
As they walked out of the school, Sloane was leaning against the stairs. Once they were close enough, she went up to fall in step with them.
“So, where are we going? Are we doing some supernatural stuff? Are you going wolf? Or can you only do that when there is a full moon?”
It took everything in Kyungsoo not to answer her questions. He could admit to himself that he had taken a quick liking to the foreign girl. The six boys continued walking, attempting to give her the cold shoulder.
She appeared to not register their attempt as she continued. “Maybe something boring, like homework, huh?” Tao could hear laughter in her voice. “Werewolves doing their homework? Isn’t that comical?”
“Sloane,” Kai began, slowing down so that he was walking beside her. She glanced at him, noticing his dark beautiful features. “Stop following us. We don’t want you to hang out with us.”
She stopped walking, “what?”
She glanced at the rest. They were a few steps in front of her and Kai, half circled and turned towards the two.
“You are not a member of our pack,” Kai continued with a voice cold and sharp as icicles, catching her attention again. “What? You thought you could get an in with us because of what you are? You’re nothing special. You’re just another girl. No. You’re just a weird witch.”
He watched her jaw clench and her thin fingers tighten against the strap of her bag, “I told you already that—”
“All the same,” he smiled politely at her and she wanted to slap it off him at that moment. What a typical pretty boy!
She took a step away from the group, “fine. I won’t interfere with you or your math homework. Good luck trying to get that D up.”
Kai arched an eyebrow as she spun on her heels, and winced as her brown curls slapped him viciously across the face as she stomped away.
“That was harsh,” Chanyeol admitted with a sigh. All the boys were watching Sloane’s form blend into the crowd.
Kai didn’t reply, instead he touched his cheek where her hair hit him, when he pulled his hand away he noticed blood on his fingertips.
~*~
True to her word—and much to Kai’s relief—Sloane left them alone.
For the rest of the week, they didn’t see her in the cafeteria, and in the classes they shared, she sat as far as possible from any one of them. She must not have taken it too badly, because whenever they crossed paths in the hallways she appeared chipper. She appeared to bounce when she walked, as if she had zero cares in the world and it caused a lot of stares. The student population were all extremely curious of the foreign new girl who came out of nowhere and was able to eat lunch with Kai and his group of hot friends—even if for a day.
On Saturday, the six boys lounged around Kai’s house, doing homework, studying, playing videogames, whatever to pass the time. The weekend was their favorite—especially Kai’s—they didn’t have to deal with the stress of being stared at and judged for seven hours of the day.
“Who wants to play another round of ball?” Tao asked suddenly, spinning the dingy basketball that he found resting on the floor on one of his fingers.
“I’m down,” Chanyeol said. His eyes turned to slits as he glared at Kai, “plus, we need a rematch.”
“Why?” Kai scoffed. “You want to get your ass handed to you again?”
“Shut up!” The two boys started wrestling around the living room while the others gathered everything needed for their trip to the park.
Once there, they spared no time splitting into teams and beginning their vigorous round of basketball. On one team was Kai, Sehun, and Kyungsoo while Jongdae, Chanyeol, and Tao played against them.
They were tied; Kai had the ball and was about to score the winning point when a strong wind blew the ball out of his grip. They all watched as it rolled off the court and into the semi muddy grass.
“What the—?”
Strange growling noises could be heard from the trees surrounding the park. The six werewolves huddled together, listening intently, trying to figure out what was going on.
Slowly, they made their way towards the trees. Hairs sticking up like the fur on a frightened cat, eyes shining colors that were not the usual brown, fingers curling into claws, they anticipated an attack.
They were not disappointed.
Something flew from out the shadows, crashing roughly into Kyungsoo, dragging him down to the ground. It appeared human, but had bluish-gray flesh with long limbs, fingers, and fangs. It was literally skin and bones and the noise that came out of its mouth when Kyungsoo lashed at it with his claws was chillingly inhuman.
Kyungsoo pushed the corpse off of himself and sat up with wide eyes glowing ice blue, “What the fuck was that?!”
He wasn’t able to get an answer. More of the bizarre looking creatures sprang from out of the shadows, all running towards the six werewolves. The boys did not hesitate to attack back; one by one they all fought against the monsters, but were outnumbered. Tao yelped in pain as one of the creatures slashed the side of his stomach, Sehun stumbled and landed hard on the ground, a crunching noise following suit. Jongdae was thrown across the field and hit a tree painfully, knocking him unconscious.
The werewolves were losing and Kai, the alpha, could feel it. He scanned the field, watching his pack mates battle the creepy beasts. There seemed to be even more coming out of the forest, Kai had to think quickly.
While he was preoccupied with his thoughts, one of the creatures saw its chance for a surprise attack and sprinted towards him, claws and fangs at the ready. Kai sensed its approach at the nick of time, but was too close to the monster to move. Something bumped into him from behind, and he landed hard on the grass. The creature twirled in confusion and froze when it saw whatever it was that knocked Kai over. Kai also glanced up and was stunned to see Sloane hovered over him eyeing the thing that would have killed him a second ago.
She pulled out something shiny from her belt. Kai noticed that it was a dagger with weird swirls engraved in the metal.
“Restitui quondam tibi,” she muttered with the knife over her head. She then dived the knife deep into the soil until only the hilt could be seen.
Bloodcurdling screams were soon heard, so deafeningly loud, Kai winced and covered his sensitive ears with his hands. He watched in confusion and shock as the creatures frantically ran away from the park, vanishing into the trees. The air seemed to still with the newfound silence.
Sloane leaned back on her heels, letting go of the knife that was still pinned to the ground with a relieved sigh. Kai and a few of the others who weren’t in critical condition stumbled onto their feet, glancing around them in awe.
“How did you do that?” Kai asked Sloane.
She let out a breathy laugh and shrugged tiredly, “looks like I can hang out with you after all.”
~*~
“Your nose is bleeding,” Kyungsoo stated, pointing at Sloane’s face. Her eyes widened as she dipped her finger in the warm liquid sliding down her cupid’s bow. With a soft chuckle, Kyungsoo slid her a tissue, which she took gratefully, placing it hesitantly against her face.
Tao, Sehun, and Jongdae were lying on the couches, all three of them unconscious from the pain. Tao’s side seemed to be ripped into shreds, blood running steadily onto the wooden floorboards. Sehun’s arm was broken at both the elbow and the middle of his forearm, while Jongdae’s head was bleeding and a few of his ribs were broken.
“What are we going to do? They’re not healing themselves!” Chanyeol asked desperately, his deep voice vibrating off the walls of the silent room. His arms were crossed against his chest and his eyebrows tried to unite at the center of his forehead.
Slowly and somewhat uneasily, Sloane stood up, “I can help them.”
“But you’re exhausted,” Kyungsoo said, standing up with her to make sure she didn’t fall.
She shook her head, “I can do it.”
She approached Tao first, since his condition appeared to be the worst, “Kyungsoo, can you sit him up for me, please?”
He silently did as he was told, and Tao groaned a bit, but his eyes remained closed. Sloane sat beside him and rested her forehead on his while she wrapped her arms around him, making sure one of her hands was firmly pressed against his wound. She started muttering under her breath and the three boys who were conscious to witness the ordeal stared in shock and wonder as his side began to glow a silver white. Sloane’s muttering became more urgent and she finally pulled away. She gently laid Tao back onto the couch and rubbed her fingers against his ribs that were now hidden by his unblemished flesh. Kai blinked and kneeled down beside Tao, staring at the side of his stomach that was, just a few seconds ago, torn apart with blood gushing out of it. It now was back together, as if it had not been touched at all. Kai ran his fingers across the boy’s skin and Tao began moving, coming too.
Sloane snatched Kai’s wrist and he lifted his eyes to meet hers with a threatening growl. The girl was unfazed, “let him rest.”
Kai yanked his wrist out of her grasp and Sloane walked away as if the encounter never happened, walking over to Jongdae. Kyungsoo again lifted the boy up so that Sloane could press her forehead against his, but this time, she wrapped one arm around his head and the other around his waist. She once again muttered some words, and Jongdae started whimpering silently.
“I know, honey, I know.” She broke her chanting to say and sighed, pulling him closer towards her. After a few minutes, she laid him back down. His breathing was back to normal and his eyes moved against his eyelids.
Chanyeol quickly went to Jongdae’s side, eyes full of wonder as he checked to see that his wounds were healed.
Sloane kneeled beside Sehun’s sleeping form and tilted his head toward her, placing her’s against his. She rubbed his arm as she started her chanting, and quickly finished with him. When she removed her head from his, his eyes fluttered open and he tiredly stared at her. His eyes saying everything his mouth couldn’t. His gaze remained on her as she stumbled to her feet and swayed a bit, his other hand rubbing his once broken arm like she was doing prior.
“Whoa,” Kyungsoo said as he caught Sloane’s now unconscious body.
“Let her sleep here,” Tao’s groggy voice was heard, and they turned to see him lazily blinking up at Kyungsoo, tapping the small space beside him on the couch. Kyungsoo glanced at Kai for approval and the alpha shrugged.
They both started chuckling at the image of Tao’s tall frame clinging to the witch’s body like a koala to a tree.
~*~
When Sloane’s eyes finally opened, she was welcomed with darkness. Something was pressed against her, pinning her down to the soft surface she laid on. She tried to move and froze when she heard a grunt in her ear and a tightening around her body.
A light came on and she blinked, not used to the brightness. She noticed Kai sitting on an armchair; he had turned on the lamp on top of the table beside him. He was gazing sternly at her with gold glowing eyes.
She turned away with a gulp and scanned the room. She was still in his living room, lying on a couch with Tao, who had wrapped himself around her, snuggling close. Jongdae was still resting on a couch, but Sehun and the other two boys weren’t present.
“What time is it?” Sloane asked the brooding werewolf, her voice rough from sleep.
“Eight thirty.”
She had slept for four hours. Sloane tried to sit up again, but Tao’s hold on her was unrelenting, she somehow was yanked closer to the boy, his nose digging into the crook of her neck. She sighed with frustration.
Kai chuckled at her despair, “he’s a cuddler.”
“I’ve gathered.” The two were quiet for a minute. “Are they alright?”
Kai nodded. “Yeah.” The humor left his voice. “You saved us.”
She could hear the question in his statement, and knew he would ask, but her stomach interrupted him with a loud growl.
He grunted, “Hungry?”
She rolled her eyes, “using so much of my power is draining. I need to regain my energy.”
She heard him shuffle around until he was hovering over her with an outstretched hand. His eyes were back to a deep chocolate brown, although she could still see the disdain for her in them, “Kyungsoo’s in the kitchen cooking. Let’s go.”
It was a battle trying to unknot Sloane from Tao, but with a few yanks, she was free and she gratefully smiled at Kai, it quickly turned into a scowl as he dropped her hand as if it burnt him and headed towards the kitchen without checking to see if she was following.
The first thing Sloane noticed once she entered the kitchen was Kyungsoo. He was standing in front of the stove, wearing a cute pale pink apron, which contrasted with his black clothing, singing softly to himself as he stirred around whatever he was making. Chanyeol and Sehun were seated at the island, Chanyeol messing with his phone while Sehun rolled an orange around the granite tabletop, bored and hungry as hell.
They all turned towards Kai and Sloane once they entered. Kyungsoo smiled at them and Sehun nearly fell off his stool as he tried to reach the witch.
When he was in front of her, he just stood there, staring at her intently. She returned his gaze, although a bit self-consciously—for he was just a few centimeters away—and they remained in that position until someone else came stumbling into the kitchen. Everyone turned again to see a groggy disheveled Tao leaning against the wall, “you left me!”
~*~
Everyone gathered around Kai’s dining table as Kyungsoo and Chanyeol set it, placing down the huge feast around the table. Kai woke Jongdae up, and he joined the rest of them, just as ravenous as the others.
Sloane learned something then, and it was that werewolves could eat, and could eat a lot. Kyungsoo had made enough food for about twelve people, and the werewolves scarfed down every bit on their plates as though it were their last meal. There was not a bone left once everyone was satisfied. Chanyeol burped obnoxiously as he leaned back on his chair, rubbing his protruding belly.
“Are you full, Sloane?” Sehun, who was sitting beside her, asked. She nodded and stood up, helping gather up all the dishes and setting up the sinks to wash them.
“You don’t have to do that,” Kai said, coming up beside her as she poured the dish soap into the water.
“It’s alright. I’d feel bad if I didn’t do anything.”
Kai sighed, Sloane felt he wanted to say something, but he refrained and she didn’t push him. The two washed in silence. A few of the boys had left to get ice cream and the other two that were left were laying around on the couch, watching television. Sloane could hear Chanyeol guffaw from time to time and it made her smile.
Once they finished the dishes, they joined the others in the living room. They were all gathered around, a pint per person, and now that they were settled, Kai turned the television off and they all turned to the stranger in the room.
She looked up at them wearily, “yes?”
“We have some questions,” Kai began. She slowly placed her ice cream onto the table and sighed, folding her hands over her knees. “What were those things?”
Her eyes widened in shock, “you mean, you don’t know?”
The boys all shook their head.
“They were—I can’t believe you don’t know—they were vampires.”
“What?!” The boys asked.
“We’ve seen a few vampires before,” Sehun started. “But none that looked like that.”
“There are three different types of vampires, and even calling them vampires is being generous. They are a type of immortal, the ones that crave blood. You have the Ancients, whose blood still runs in their veins because they were turned when they were still alive. Those are the stereotypical vampires that everyone knows. They appear human and drink blood and the like. The second type are the Medietas, they were turned at the brink of death, they are less human then ancients, but still can pass for human. They always have pale skin and dilated eyes; their fangs can’t be hidden….
“Then you have the last kind of vampire, the Mortuum, who were turned after death. As you saw, they are monsters. They don’t have any cognitive thinking, only hunger for blood.”
“Why did they attack us? Why were they here?” Jongdae asked.
“You don’t know much, do you?” Sloane asked, sparing them a judgmental glance. “Werewolves and vampires are mortal enemies, and this just so happens to be your territory. I highly doubt you all know, but this town is a supernatural goldmine! The power that flows through here is strong enough to pull many of us here—myself included. Those vampires were drawn here because of that energy, but they happened to run into you guys, and their instincts kicked in, so they attacked.”
“Why couldn’t we heal ourselves?” Sehun asked quietly, rubbing his once broken arm.
Sloane swallowed thickly, “That’s the thing about being mortal enemies. It’s easy to destroy the other. Vampires have the ability to disable your fast healing as well as your other wolf abilities, as do you to them.”
“How do you know all of this?” Kai muttered, somewhat frustrated by his lack of knowledge.
She shrugged, “I read. A lot.”
“What did you do back there? You spoke that weird language…”
“Latin, the language of the dead.”
“You mean the dead language.” Kyungsoo corrected.
She shook her head, “no, I meant what I said. Latin is the language of the dead. What I did back there was cast a vanquishing spell. It pretty much banned that coven from returning. But, like most spells, there’s a catch. The spell only works for that coven alone—meaning other covens may enter without a hitch—and it only lasts for a certain amount of time, ten years to be exact. After that, they can return and cause all the havoc they want.”
The boys were silent for a while, digesting everything Sloane had told them. Finally Tao spoke up, “….Coven…?”
Sloane groaned and fell back on her chair, “why don’t you guys know this stuff? You’re werewolves!”
“We’re young,” Jongdae defended. “And also, none of us like to read.”
She shook her head and laughed with disbelief, “how you’ve survived this long is a mystery.”
“We got guts,” Chanyeol grinned.
“And lack of brains,” she mumbled, but they all heard her.
She rose to her feet, “I should probably go….”
“Where are you staying? One of us can take you,” Kyungsoo applied.
“I, uh….” She shuffled her feet.
“You don’t have a place to stay, do you?” Chanyeol asked. The pack glanced at her.
“I’ve been staying at different hotels, using spells to trick them into thinking I paid, or forgetting I was even there. I don’t have any money on me.”
“So, you’re homeless?”
She shrugged, staring at her feet.
“You can stay here,” Kyungsoo offered.
“What?” Sloane and Kai asked at the same time.
Kyungsoo shrugged at his leader, “Kai lives here all alone, and he has two guest rooms. You’re going to school with us now, and it would be nice to have you around, being that you know a lot more about this stuff than us…. We have a bit to learn from each other.”
“I don’t want her living here,” Kai spat through clenched teeth. This place was his sanctuary; he didn’t want some strange girl with magical powers who he still didn’t trust to ruin that for him.
“Come on, Jongin, don’t be stubborn.”
“Don’t call me that in front of her. She’s not staying here and that’s final!” Kyungsoo suddenly pulled Kai into a headlock and dragged him away from the living room.
“We need a moment,” he informed Sloane as they disappeared down the hall, into another room. It was dead silent as they waited for the duo to return, Sehun and Tao’s grins never left their face while Chanyeol and Jongdae chuckled every once in a while.
Seven minutes later, the two reemerged. Kai huffing and pouting while Kyungsoo’s lips stretched into a heart shaped grin.
He nudged Kai forward, and with an eye roll, the leader trudged to the girl with his hands in his pockets and muttered, “you can stay here.”
“What was that?” Jongdae asked dramatically, his smile stretched evilly.
Kai rolled his eyes again and raised his voice, “you can stay here…Sloane.”
“Thank you,” she said but the other boys’ guffawing quickly swallowed it up.
He cleared his throat and scratched the back of his neck, “Whatever.”
His pack left his place soon after that. As soon as Kai and Sloane were alone, he cornered her and sat her down.
“I still don’t think you being around us is a good idea,” he began. Sloane’s eyes were wide as she took in his words. “I don’t trust you. I know you are a witch, despite what you want us to believe, and I’m keeping a close eye on you.”
He sighed, “That being said, you did save my pack’s lives today, and that is something I’m indebted to. So, I promise to let you stay here, as a form of payment for what you did today, alright?”
Sloane nodded with understanding, “I promise, in return, Kai, that I’ll prove to you that I am no threat. As Kyungsoo said earlier, we have a bit to learn from one another.”
“That we do, Sloane. That we do. Let me show you your room.”
2. House Rules & Lone Wolves
“She carries this ancient looking suitcase and it is literally the only thing she owns. It has her clothes in it, and this book that looks just as old as the suitcase, and that is it,” Kai informed his pack mates as they were all walking up to the cafeteria.
It was a Monday, their first day back since Sloane saved them from the vampires, and Kai was having a rough time adjusting to the whole living-with-a-witch-that-may-not-actually-be-a-witch situation Kyungsoo unceremoniously thrust him into.
“Until then, I mean, she’s alright. She’s quiet, stayed in her room for most of the day, and only came out to eat or use the bathroom. We’re going shopping later tonight so she can buy a toothbrush and whatnot.” Kai shook his head in disbelief, “I can’t believe I have a roommate.”
“A really pretty magical roommate at that,” Chanyeol added with a nod.
“You think she’s pretty?” Kai asked, sparing the taller boy a judgmental glance.
“Well, yeah? She’s very pretty,” Chanyeol shrugged.
“That means a lot coming from Chanyeol,” Sehun snorted, nudging his fellow playboy friend.
“If she gives you any problems,” Kyungsoo said, as they all sat around their table. “You can always kick her out.”
Kai sighed, “You’re right, I just… what will my aunt think?”
“What will your cousin think?” Tao asked. “Once he finds out you have a good looking girl living with you….”
Kai’s eyes widened with horror, “he shall never find out.”
“Not to mention,” Jongdae began with a sharp curve to his lips. “What your little buddy downstairs will think about this situation.”
“Jongdae! I’ll have your head!” Kai pounced on top of the table, reaching for his evil friend’s neck, when the center of his problems finally joined them.
“What did I miss?” Sloane asked Chanyeol under her breath as she slid into the seat beside him.
The tall boy shrugged, chuckling all the while, “Kai’s having some issues and Jongdae is really bad at giving advice.”
The girl nodded with wide eyes, placing a spoon filled with soup into her mouth thoughtfully.
After Kai was satisfied with the purplish hue Jongdae’s face took from the lack of oxygen, he settled back down and Tao rubbed his friend’s back as he coughed a lung out.
Once everyone was settled, Kyungsoo began talking, “the full moon is this Saturday.”
All the boys seemed to grow tense once the words were uttered.
Sloane, on the other hand, gasped, “Does this mean you’re finally going to go all wolf?!”
She began squealing.
“Why are you so excited to see us as wolves?” Kai asked, baffled.
Her jaw dropped, staring at him in disbelief, “why wouldn’t I?! It’s not every day you run into werewolves! I can’t wait to see your fur. How big do you guys get? Do you still have your human mind? Is the shift painful?”
“Whoa whoa!” Sehun said chuckling. “One question at a time.”
“Um,” Kyungsoo began thoughtfully. “Pretty big, yes, and yes.”
“But,” Kai drawled out, sending a warning with his eyes to his pack mates before meeting Sloane’s. “You are not going to be able to see our fur. You’re going to stay in the house for the entire night.”
Sloane’s face fell, “What?”
“It’s dangerous for you to be out with us in our wolf forms. Yeah, we do keep our humanity, but the full moon pulls us towards our wolves, those instincts are quicker. You can get hurt if you are not careful.”
Sloane’s shoulders fell, “but… I really wanted to see your wolf forms. I bet you guys are beautiful.”
“We can just tell you,” Jongdae shrugged. “And we can always half shift, you know? Our eyes change colors and our claws and fangs come out. But during the full moon is when we shift completely and it’s out of our control, and aw you think we’re beautiful?”
“Let’s just show her!” Sehun yelled excitedly. Tao gasped loudly and nodded in agreement.
“No,” Kai said immediately. He used his alpha voice, so the others had no choice but to listen. That didn’t stop Tao and Sehun from whining.
“You’re no fun,” Sloane pouted, twirling her spoon in her food.
Kai just shrugged, “being the alpha means keeping a level head.”
“And which head exactly is it that must be level, huh, Kai?” Jongdae questioned with a wicked grin.
“Have you not learned your lesson?!” Kai barked, hopping across the table to choke Jongdae out again.
Kyungsoo sighed, while the others started making bets over if Jongdae would pass out or not, and Sloane lifted her hand from her spoon, even though it remained swirling around her soup.
~*~
“There are rules to my house that we haven’t discussed yet,” Kai informed Sloane as he pushed a cart through E-Mart. She walked beside him, well around him, running from one side of an aisle to the other, tossing things into the cart.
“Like what?” She asked as she studied the different types of deodorant.
“Like…” Kai began, thinking of something. “You can’t invite anybody over without my permission.”
“Well that’s fine. I only know you guys.” She finally settled on a deodorant and continued towards the hair products.
“Any food that’s in the fridge will be for the both of us, I don’t expect you to get a job or pay rent or anything, but if you could hold your keep, you know, cleaning after yourself, cooking dinner, washing dishes—”
“Making sure my hair doesn’t clog the drain. I get it,” she placed watermelon scented shampoo and conditioner in the overflowing cart and continued on.
“Respect my things and my personal space and I think we’ll get along just fine.”
She twirled around to shoot him a quick salute and returned back to leading the way towards the toy aisle.
“Why are we here?” Kai asked skeptically.
Sloane laughed and stopped in front of the board and card games, “We should have game nights.”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“I think it is. Come on, Kai, live a little.”
Kai rolled his eyes, but helped Sloane decide on a few games they could play.
After they picked them, they headed towards check out.
“How can you pay for all this?” Sloane asked, munching on a Slim Jim that had been rung already.
“My parents had a lot of money,” Kai stated, sliding his black card to pay for their items.
“I couldn’t help but notice the ‘had’ in that sentence,” Sloane pointed out.
Kai shrugged again, feigning nonchalant. He didn’t say anything as they headed to his car.
Once on the road, Sloane played with the radio for a minute until she found a song she liked. She started shaking her curls and Kai pressed his lips together to hide a rare amused grin. Once the song was over, she turned the volume down, “You are one of the younger members of the pack, right?”
“Yup. Sehun’s the only one younger than me.”
“Then how come you are the alpha?”
He winced, “I’m the strongest.” He left it at that.
“But…” She let her sentence carry; knowing that Kai didn’t want to talk about this either. “Never mind. Sorry I asked.”
Kai blinked at her in surprise, and for some odd reason felt guilty, “its fine. I’ll tell you…someday.”
She nodded at him, “I’d like that.”
Kai pulled into his driveway, and the two dragged their bags into the house.
“Thank you again for taking me in. It means so much to me, I don’t think you understand.”
Kai scratched the back of his neck, “You saved my life, this is the least I can do. Just know that I am waiting patiently for you to fuck up so I can kick you out.”
“And ever so charming,” Sloane muttered. She perked up instantly. “I’ll make dinner!”
“I have another question,” Sloane said, once she started cooking. Kai, who was still putting things away, groaned and Sloane took that as permission.
“Why won’t you let me be around you guys once you change?”
Kai clenched his jaw, “I told you, it’s dangerous.”
“I’m not a mere mortal, Kai. I’m sure I could handle it. I can help.”
“There’s no need for help, Sloane. We change, we venture the woods, and then we turn back into humans at dawn. He meet here, eat, shower, and then they all go home. That’s how we’ve always done it, that’s how it will go on Saturday.”
“But, maybe I can fold your clothes for you, or cast a spell to make the shift easier to handle, or something?”
Kai shook his head, “We can handle it. We’ve been shifting together for a few years now. Just stay here and wait for us to return, alright?”
Sloane sighed, “Fine.”
Kai let out a relieved breath. He didn’t want to tell her how they hunted and killed innocent animals. How they howled at the moon for hours. How he used the pain of the shift as a reminder of the monster that he was, of the burden his family and fellow pack members had to carry. She didn’t need to know any of that.
~*~
The following day, after school had ended, Sloane found herself at the nearest public library. She had decided that she would try to help Kai and his pack as much as possible without being a burden or upsetting the alpha, so she spent about an hour and a half searching for the right books about plants and glancing around at books about witchcraft—coming up empty on the latter.
Satisfied with her borrowed books, she bounced out of the building with a warm smile on her face. The sun was shining despite the chilly autumn breeze, and she could tell that things were finally looking up for her.
Those thoughts turned sour as her body collided with one in front of her. Her newly acquired books tumbling towards the asphalt, but before she could finish her blink, the person she bumped had them stacked neatly in his hands. They never even touched the ground.
Her eyes widened as she took in the stack before lifting them up to see a boy around her age, a stunningly bright smile on his just as attractive face, “here you go, miss.”
“Thank you,” she stuttered, collecting them from his grasp as he bowed and proceeded on his way before she could yell out an apology. She followed him with her eyes; he seemed in a rush, almost running as he crossed the street.
“Weird,” she pouted. His energy was off, and she couldn’t figure out why.
“What’s weird?” A deep voice asked from behind her and she jumped out her skin as Kyungsoo seemed to appear out of thin air.
“I…” She spun back to where she last saw the boy but he was already long gone. “There was a guy….”
Kyungsoo just arched an eyebrow up at her, as she slowly came back to her senses. “How did you find me?”
He shrugged, a smug smile on his face, “I’m getting really familiar with your scent. Also Kai sent me to look for you, he was getting worried.”
She scoffed, “Kai? Worried about me? I’m sure.”
“He worries about anyone he feels he has to protect.” The two fell into step, heading towards Kyungsoo’s car that was parked on the corner of the street.
“He feels like he has to protect me? I’m a magical being,” Sloane almost scoffed. The two settled into their seats, and Kyungsoo took off towards Kai’s house.
“But you’re living under his roof. That makes you his responsibility in his eyes.” He could sense her disbelief. “It’s the alpha in him.”
She nodded understandably at that, “I never got to thank you.”
“For what?”
“For making him take me in. If it weren’t for you, I’d probably still be mooching off hotel workers. I hated doing that.”
Kyungsoo smiled at her, “all in a days work. You’re the first wit—uh… magical being we’ve ever ran into. At least, one around our age, who didn’t want our heads on a platter.”
Sloane smirked at Kyungsoo stuttering over her title. “So you have dealt with witches before?”
Kyungsoo nodded, “yup. Ones passing though who had a dislike for us pups.”
Sloane cracked a grin at that, “you’re funny, Kyungsoo.”
He blinked owlishly at her, “that’s a first.”
She burst out laughing at his reply and shook her head with a sigh, “you’re also very refreshing. I appreciate that.”
“You seem to appreciate a lot of things.”
“I’ve had a past that allows me to do as such.”
Kyungsoo sensed the bitterness she tried to suppress and it piqued his interest. He knew better than to press her on it though, deciding instead to change the subject quickly, “what you got there?” He pointed at the books in her hands.
“Some books about plants. You know plants have a ton of magical attributes? Certain plants give us certain powers or take some away.”
Kyungsoo nodded, “like Wolfsbane.”
“Yes. Which, please remind me, I must read up on. Now that I’m living and hanging out with a bunch of wolves, I need to know as much as possible about you all.”
“Do magical beings like you have plants that are your kryptonite?”
“I’m pretty sure. I haven’t looked into it, but I know there must be.”
“You’ve really made me curious about all this supernatural stuff. We haven’t really worried about these things, I guess being young and powerful makes you really ignorant to certain things at times.”
They finally reached Sloane’s new home, and Kyungsoo held the door open for her as they entered the loft.
“Yeah, we both have quite a bit to learn, huh?”
“It seems so.”
“Sloane!” Tao squealed once she was in his vision. He hopped off the couch and leaped on her, causing the books she was holding to fall again. Kyungsoo quickly plucked them from the air, gathering them into a pile in his hands.
“Wolf reflexes,” he smirked once he noticed Sloane’s shocked expression.
“Is that so?” she sputtered.
“Sloane! Kai told us you bought games! Let’s play some!” Tao, who was still wrapped around the girl said, dragging her over towards the bookcase where the games she and Kai had bought the day before had been placed.
Something Sloane had noticed was the way Tao, Sehun, and Jongdae treated her. Ever since she healed them, they had seemed to hover around her, always needy. She wondered if her power had anything to do with that.
They decided on Apples to Apples, and the rest of the gang joined them in the living room. Chanyeol and Jongdae were both really good at playing, although Jongdae tried to make his answers as inappropriate as possible. They snacked and joked and relaxed for a few hours. Sehun and Tao had Sloane sandwiched between them and Jongdae constantly asked her if she needed anything. Kai was suspicious, but his thoughts on the matter speculated about the same as Sloane’s.
“Those three seem to be smitten with you,” Kai mentioned when he was able to corner Sloane in the kitchen.
She nodded, digging in the pantry for more snacks.
“I couldn’t help but wonder if your power had anything to do with that.”
Sloane stiffened at his tone and spun around, facing the wolf, “are you accusing me of something?”
Kai smirked and shrugged, “you didn’t cast a spell on them to make them act like that, did you?”
“Of course not! Why would I?”
“Because if some of my pack members love you, it would be easier for me to accept you.”
“That’s ridiculous, Kai. I think when I healed them it made a slight bond. They’ll get over it in a couple days. I already told you I’m not evil.” She walked towards him so that she could clearly look into his eyes and so that he could hear her heartbeat better. “I’m not out to get you and your pack. So you can relax.”
Kai blinked at her, noticing her heartbeat remain steady. He clenched his jaw and snatched the chocolate cupcakes from Sloane’s grasp. Spinning on his heels, he returned to the living room where the others were waiting for them to return.
Sloane sunk into a stool near her, holding her head in her hands, feeling slightly exhausted from dealing with Kai’s attitude and distrust.
She was going to win him over somehow.
“You alright?” Sloane lifted her head to see Jongdae watching her anxiously.
“Yeah. Fine,” she tried to smile, but it wouldn’t stay on for long.
“Don’t mind Kai,” Jongdae advised, walking over to the girl with his hands in his pockets and a warm smile on his face. “He’s all bark.”
She laughed at that, “He doesn’t seem to trust very easily.”
Jongdae shook his head at that, “nope. It took him ages to warm up to me, actually.”
“Really?”
Jongdae’s grin stretched mischievously, “I appeared out of nowhere, kind of like you did. He had no idea what to do with me, and I got on his nerves. It just takes him some time.” He worked up the courage to place his hand on Sloane’s back, rubbing it reassuringly. “Will you please come join us? I have to whoop your asses at Apples to Apples again.”
Sloane rolled her eyes and pushed him away, following him out into the living room.
~*~
“Sloane! Sit next to me!” Sehun called as soon as Sloane stepped into their shared history class. She smiled and took a step, but as soon as she did, Jongdae ran into the room, wrapped his arm around her waist and dragged her away to sit next to him. Sehun stared in disbelief before he whined and began sulking, and a few girls that were sitting behind him started quietly squealing to themselves.
Jongdae began laughing hysterically and Sloane started questioning whether coming here was a good idea after all.
“Mr. Kim!” Their history teacher, Professor Park, barked once she entered the room. “Control yourself or I’m kicking you out… again!”
Jongdae waved his hand dismissively, but tried to contain his chuckles.
Their teacher began lecture and Jongdae leaned over to Sloane, “tomorrow’s Saturday.”
Sloane nodded her head; taking notes quickly before turning to Jongdae, “are you scared?”
He scoffed, “are you kidding? This is a part of who I am. I’ve been doing this for years now, it’s routine.”
“So why are you reminding me of it?”
“Because I can practically smell the tension on you. You’re not planning on going against Kai’s order, are you?”
Sloane blinked rapidly at her fellow classmate and shook her head vehemently, “no, no, that’s not it.”
“Well, what is it then?”
“I…”
“Sloane…”
She sighed, but before she could tell him what was going on in her head, Professor Park called on her. She answered her question correctly—annoying her teacher in the process—and returned back to her conversation, “I, uh, had a dream last night.”
Jongdae nodded slowly, “that usually happens when people sleep.”
“Jongdae!” Sloane grinned. “I’m being serious. I had a dream that… well, I can’t really remember what happened, but I remember my emotions, the urgency, the full moon, and fur… lots of it. Something is going to happen tomorrow, something out of the ordinary.”
“Are you psychic?”
“No, but I am incredibly intuitive. Also, I broke a vase yesterday!”
“What does that have to do with anything,” Jongdae questioned, truly concerned for the girl’s sanity.
Sloane grew distracted as the boy in front of her began answering a question. Jongdae watched as her eyebrows scrunched together and her eyes widened in realization, her eyes never leaving his neck.
“Earth to Sloane? You okay?” Jongdae waved his hand in front of her, causing her to come back to reality. “Did you just have a vision?”
“I… did I zone out?” Sloane seemed genuinely confused.
Jongdae pursed his lips. “You were staring at that kid as if he had a bug on his back.” Sloane tried to recall what she was thinking about, but came up empty.
“Great answer as always. Sehun, why don’t you elaborate on what Mr. Zhang was saying?” Professor Park said, staring at Sehun expectantly.
“Uh… I believe he covered it all, Professor?”
Sloane face palmed and Jongdae began his manic laughter again, causing both him and Sehun to get thrown out of class.
Sloane and Jongdae’s conversation was forgotten for the rest of the class.
~*~
“I made dinner!” Sloane’s voice was heard as soon as the door swung open. Six exhausted young werewolves stumbled into the kitchen with relief as the waft of stew overwhelmed their senses. The table was covered in plates and bowls and beside it stood Sloane with a nervous grin on her face.
“Sloane! You shouldn’t have!” Jongdae cried while Tao pulled her into a tight hug.
“You’re a life saver!” Chanyeol praised, quickly yanking a chair back to plop onto it. “Kai was promising us he’d cook and I really wasn’t in the mood for burnt kimchi fried rice.”
“Hey!” Kai barked, eyes slits with the promise of death as he glowered at Chanyeol.
“What? it’s true!” Chanyeol stuck his tongue out at his alpha.
“What did you make?” Sehun inquired, glancing around the crowded table. Kyungsoo smiled appreciatively at the girl before sitting down as well.
“Well, I cooked a stew with astragalus roots in it, some beef, a salad, and warm agrimony tea.”
Once everyone was settled, they all began eating, the moans of pleasure didn’t go unnoticed to Sloane, and she bit back a smile, pleased that her cooking skills were still up to par.
“This is, without a doubt, the best stew I’ve ever had!” Tao squealed.
“Sorry, Kyungsoo,” Kai grinned at the smaller boy, who just rolled his eyes and took a sip of his tea.
“His stew is still better than your kimchi fried rice,” Jongdae muttered and yelped as Kai kicked him underneath the table.
“What did you say was in the stew and tea?” Kai asked Sloane soon after, acting as if he had not just given Jongdae’s shin a nice purple bruise.
Sloane slurped some broth before answering his question, “astragalus roots and agrimony.”
“Are those the plants that you found in your books?” Kyungsoo asked.
She nodded, impressed that he remembered. “Yeah, astragalus helps increase energy, both the body and mind. It will help you with fatigue and unclear decisions. While agrimony helps keep away negative energy and spirits as well as keeping a level head.”
Kai’s chewing slowed as Sloane continued talking. He blinked at her, and she must have felt his gaze, because she looked up at him.
“Is this your way of helping us?” He questioned. She nodded and quickly broke eye contact, awaiting a scolding.
“Thank you, Sloane,” his voice was strained, but Sloane could hear his sincerity. “I should have known you would find a loophole.”
“Aw! Our Sloane is so smart!” Tao gushed with a full mouth. He ruffled the girl’s hair.
“Our…Our Sloane?” She choked. Tao began laughing, murmuring a ‘how cute’.
“Are you still anxious, Sloane?” Jongdae asked soon after.
She glared at him and Kyungsoo cocked an eyebrow, “why were you anxious?”
“I…” Jongdae began his manic laughter and Sloane threw a carrot at him. It shut him up immediately and he pouted, feeling betrayed that Sloane would use violence against him. “It’s nothing really. I promised that I wouldn’t get involved…”
“But?” Chanyeol pushed.
“But… be on guard tomorrow. I feel something will happen, something different.”
“Good different or bad different?” Sehun asked.
She shrugged, “that’s up for you to decide.”
“She also broke a vase,” Jongdae added.
“Jongdae!” Sloane shook her head at him, and his lips seemed to glue together. His eyes widened and he pushed away from the table, causing him and his chair to stumble backwards.
“Now you get why I’m always beating him up, “ Kai sighed as the table burst into laughter.
Sloane just scratched her head and drank her tea, “I really did break a vase though, is there any way I can get you to lend me six dollars?”
“Mmm!” Jongdae yelled from the floor where he was practically convulsing, pulling at the pink flesh of his lips in an attempt to rip them apart.
“Shut up!” Kai ordered.
“It’s your fault you’re in this situation!”
“You really would try to act that way towards a witch and not expect her to retaliate?”
“Hey! I’m not a witch! You want your lips merged too?!”
“No! I’m trying to defend you!”
Outside the moon shown bright, nearly full with the promise of change.
~*~
“I’m curious,” Jongdae murmured sleepily the next day. “Why are we watching a movie about a werewolf hunter?”
“Van Helsing also killed vampires,” Sloane informed, running her fingers through Tao’s brown hair where his head sat comfortably on her lap. He began purring like a kitten.
“I still don’t get why we are watching it, regardless of what he murdered,” Sehun scrunched his nose at a particularly violent scene.
Kyungsoo sighed, “it’s an attempt at distraction. But… it really isn’t working very well.”
“Where’s Kai?” Chanyeol asked.
“He couldn’t stomach the plot,” Kyungsoo shrugged.
“He’s not the only one,” Jongdae muttered.
“Will you guys just relax?” Sloane asked. “You’re transforming in less then twenty-four hours. Eat, rest, and enjoy a cool action flick with both a hot leading and supporting role and horribly depicted werewolves.”
“The werewolves are a bit much,” Kyungsoo relented with a soft chuckle.
“I wish I was that muscular when I shifted,” Tao yawned.
“Those vampires don’t seem that far off though…” Chanyeol mentioned, causing a chilling silence to take over.
Sloane let out a gust of breath and a few of the boys glanced over at her.
“Don’t worry about us too much, Sloane,” Jongdae said. He threw her a reassuring grin after sensing her distress.
“Yeah, we’re big boys,” Chanyeol added, flexing one of his biceps and sending the girl a wink.
“I know. I don’t even know why I’m so worried, honestly. I hardly know any of you.”
“It’s because we’re so handsome,” Tao provided, his eyes still closed.
Sloane lightly smacked his arm and rolled her eyes, “and so dumb.”
“We’ll be okay, Sloane,” Kyungsoo assured with a warm smile. “We always are.”
~*~
“Look who has finally graced us with his presence!” Sehun yelled as Kai stumbled down the stairs a few hours later.
“Sloane made us have a werewolf marathon,” Tao informed his leader with a slight pout.
“All of them sucked, especially that shape shifting one,” Chanyeol added.
“Um, Blood and Chocolate was actually pretty decent. You have to admit that,” Sloane said. Chanyeol just shrugged.
“Well, I obviously haven’t missed much. It’s go time, you all ready?”
“But, the moon isn’t even all the way out yet!” Sloane said, her eyes widening with alarm.
Kai smirked, “we have to prepare some things. We shift pretty far from the house.”
“But—”
“It’s going to be fine!” Sehun drawled, throwing his arms around her shoulders. “You worry too much.”
“Can I at least—”
“Nope,” Kai interrupted, popping the P.
Sloane groaned with frustration, “then what am I supposed to do?”
Kai shrugged, “watch movies about witches. I heard that The Blair Witch Project is a good one.”
“Not cool,” Kyungsoo chastised as he walked past his best friend to grab some bags.
“What’s in the bags?” Sloane questioned, plopping back on the couch in defeat. She watched as Kyungsoo distributed the bags so that each boy got one.
“Snacks, extra clothes, first aid. Just things we will need if we change back early for whatever reason.”
“That happens?”
“Occasionally. It’s rare.”
“Usually, if we get wounded pretty badly or knocked unconscious, we’ll turn back to our human form,” Jongdae mentioned.
“Oh…”
“Oh great,” Chanyeol said, throwing his arms in the air. “Now she really is going to panic!”
Kai headed over to where Sloane was seated and knelt in front of her, “we do this every month. We will keep a look out for anything out of the ordinary, but until then, it will be just like always. You really need to chill, we know what we are doing.”
Sloane nodded, “I know, I know. Just be careful… all of you.”
Sehun saluted, “aye, aye, Captain.”
Kai rose to his feet, “I am the captain of this ship, and my first command is to head to the van!”
Sloane smiled as the boys said their farewells. Kyungsoo patted her shoulder, Tao gave her a slimy kiss on her cheek, while Jongdae kissed the top of her head. Chanyeol clipped her chin, Sehun rubbed her arm, and Kai walked out without so much as a wave—which was what Sloane was expecting.
“We’ll be back before you know it,” Sehun whispered to her before rushing to the others, closing the door behind himself.
Now alone, Sloane let out a shaky breath and played with her gold necklace, hoping that their confidence would get them through the night.
~*~
“She is really worried for us,” Jongdae mentioned as they all piled into the van.
Chanyeol jumped into the driver’s seat, Kai in the passenger, while the other four climbed into the back.
“It’s nice,” Chanyeol admitted as he pulled out of the driveway. “She’s like a mother. It’s kind of cute watching her fret over us like that.”
The guys in the back nodded in agreement.
“I just hope she doesn’t do anything stupid,” Kai muttered, closing his eyes and sinking into his seat, mentally preparing himself for what was to come.
The ride was mostly silent, as they made their way to the outskirts of the forest. The moon seemed almost reachable as Chanyeol haphazardly parked and they all filed out. They were in a small circular clearing; the trees in the area were easily fifteen feet, hovering high above their heads.
“You all ready?” Kai asked, locking eyes with each member of his pack and receiving a nod from each. “Alright, here we go.”
It took a few moments, as the moon slowly began to reveal itself. The wolves became anxious, hobbling from foot to foot, claiming to have to pee, and telling stale jokes to pass the time. But soon, they began to feel the shift.
Chanyeol was the first to change. He yelped, startling the other five, as he tumbled to the ground. With his last bit of sanity, he quickly yanked his clothes off, not wanting to destroy them during the shift.
Jongdae whistled, “looking good, Channie!”
“Fuck off!” Chanyeol roared before screaming in agony. Sehun winced as Chanyeol’s arms twisted in odd angles. The others undressed quickly, knowing their turn was soon.
Kyungsoo was the next to begin shifting. Tao, Sehun and Kai quickly joining him. Jongdae blinked in surprise, Chanyeol was practically full wolf now, his russet fur blowing in the breeze, as his snout started to form.
“I’m not shifting,” Jongdae spoke from the corner of his mouth nervously, knowing none of the others were listening, too distracted by the pain. “Uh…” He glanced around and glared at the moon, “what are you doing?! Let’s go! I’m on the clock!”
Chanyeol was full wolf then and his fire orange orbs stared at Jongdae, almost mockingly.
“Oh, shut up!” Jongdae snapped. He cursed loudly right after, feeling the bones in his feet break and expand.
“There we go!” He cheered with his signature laugh as he began to shift.
The shift took around ten minutes to endure, and slowly, the boys changed into wolves. Once Jongdae’s white and black fur fully covered his new body, the six wolves howled, quickly taking off through the familiar forest.
Quick as lightening, the beasts raced through the land, leaping over fallen logs with their tongues lolling out their mouths. A few roughhoused, snapping at each other’s necks, while others chased after squirrels and other small animals. The sense of freedom they felt while they were wolves was indescribable. Although the shift was painful, being a wolf brought a joy that made it somewhat bearable.
A couple hours passed with the six pups playing and running around. Jongdae and Sehun were play fighting, Kai and Kyungsoo were racing one another, Tao got distracted by a frog, while Chanyeol was chasing his tail.
While running, Kai suddenly stopped, causing Kyungsoo to become distracted and hit a tree. After shaking it off he studied his leader. Kai was stiff as a board, the chocolate brown fur on his back slowly rising and his gold eyes glowing brightly against the darkness. He began growling menacingly, and that’s when Kyungsoo smelt it.
He whipped his head in the direction Kai was glowering and joined his low growling. Kai let out a quick bark, and soon, the other wolves joined the two. Immediately smelling a threat, they all snarled dangerously low.
Finally, the threat came into focus.
Another wolf, about as big as them, hesitantly made its way towards the group. It had ashy grey fur and sapphire eyes. It made it clear it wasn’t looking for a fight…
But he was on Kai’s territory.
With a sharp bark, Kai charged the lone wolf, his pack following immediately. They began fighting with the wolf, but he was stronger than anticipated. He was able to ward off Chanyeol and Sehun, and dodge Kyungsoo and Tao’s advances, but Kai surprised him, coming at him from his right and causing him to land on his side.
He immediately rolled onto his back in surrender, but Kai was seeing red. He dug his teeth into the beast’s flesh, causing him to howl in pain. Somehow he was able to get Kai off of him and bite him back in defense. Once free, he turned to run away, but was wounded, and wasn’t as fast as he could have been. Kai, Chanyeol, and Kyungsoo were hot on his heels, and once again pinned him onto the moist ground.
The exhausted animal closed his eyes, tired of fighting them off, and awaited the deathblow Kai was so eager to give.
Before he could finish the wolf off, Kai was knocked over. Kyungsoo and Chanyeol growled in surprise as Jongdae stood protectively in front of the other wolf. He huffed and shook his head. Kai got back on his paws and barked, ordering Jongdae to move, but the pup remained in front of the wolf, who was now unconscious.
Sehun and Tao joined the rest, ears perked with wonder, as they watched the confrontation.
Kyungsoo yelped in surprise as his attention was brought back to the strange wolf—who was a wolf no longer.
A boy around their age now lay were the wolf once had. Realization hit them all slowly—except for Jongdae, who had pieced everything together while Kai was blood hungry—and panic slowly took over the situation.
Another werewolf had shown up on their turf and approached them, probably asking to join them, and what did they do? They attacked him, nearly killing him in the process. Four out of seven wolves present were covered in blood, but the boy had bite wounds on his neck and belly, and blood was pouring profusely out of them. Almost without thinking, Kai dragged the boy unto his back and took off, rushing towards his house, to Sloane, who he knew could help the boy. He heard the pounding of his members’ paws against the rough earth as they followed him, some limping. It was a race against the sun, which was beginning to rise over the horizon.
It took about thirty minutes to get back to the house. Kai yipped once he saw the familiar wood of his home, but as soon as he left the clearing of the trees, he stumbled and fell, convulsing as his human form began to resurface.
One by one, the boys began to shift back to their human forms. Kai tried to crawl to the door, as he was still changing back with an unconscious guy still on top of his back. It was a struggle, but he was able to bang on the door, leaving blood stained handprints in his wake.
“Sloane!” He croaked, his voice was still laced with his wolf. “Sloane! Please help!”
Exhaustion got the better of him and he relented. He was aware long enough to see the door swing open and smiled with relief as a startled Sloane appeared before him.
~*~
Could it be possible for silence to be so loud it could startle someone awake? That’s what Kai’s first humane thought was as he jerked from his sleep. He was disoriented, still stuck between his wolf and human minds, but as he began blinking into focus, he realized that he was in fact human.
He sighed, running a hand over his face as the night’s events began surfacing. He was in his bedroom, clad in only a pair of black boxer briefs. He glanced at the clock on his nightstand—three forty-six. He checked the skin of his stomach, remembering he took a hit, but saw that his slight wounds were already closed in a fading pink.
He still had dried blood under his fingernails.
With a groan he climbed out of bed, trudging down to the living room. Once down there, he noticed that the television was off. Everything was off and it was silent. The silence made him feel incredibly guilty of his behavior, and he needed some type of distraction.
Chanyeol, Tao, and Kyungsoo were all in the living room, asleep. Tao on a couch, Kyungsoo siting up in the armchair, his chin resting on his bare chest, while Chanyeol’s tall frame was sprawled on the floor.
Kai headed over to the kitchen and saw Sehun sipping on a glass of milk. They locked eyes and Sehun bowed his head a bit in greeting, his face blank of any emotion.
“How long have you been up?” Kai asked the younger boy, his voice still rough with sleep.
Sehun shrugged, “about twenty minutes. The groaning woke me up.”
Kai cocked an eyebrow but didn’t question. “Where’s Sloane and….” He dropped his head, the guilt closing up his throat.
Sehun sighed, leaning back in his chair and drinking more of his milk, “in her room.”
Kai patted the wall before heading down the hall to his roommate’s room. After some hesitation, he knocked quietly.
“Come in,” he heard her say, and did as he was told.
Sloane was sitting on the floor in the middle of her room, Jongdae sat at her desk, looking the most serious he ever has, and on the bed laid the werewolf Kai tried to kill. He gulped, seeing him in the light. His wounds were closed, but the dried blood still remained.
“He was having trouble earlier, but he’s all healed now,” Sloane informed, her eyes never leaving the stranger’s sleeping form. “You got him pretty good.”
“I didn’t know,” Kai said.
“I know.”
“I did,” Jongdae admitted. His voice was hard with anger, and when he locked eyes with Kai, they were stern and shown a bright hazel—his wolf’s eyes. “I tried to get you to stop.”
“You did,” Kai sighed, looking down at his bare feet.
“There’s a question I can’t get out of my head, Kai. I keep wondering what would you have done if he hadn’t shifted back? Would you have killed me too? Just to get to him?”
“Jongdae! You know I wouldn’t.”
Jongdae shook his head, “how could you be so careless? How could you let your bloodlust take control over you like that? You weren’t you, man….”
Kai kept his head low like a scolded child, knowing he deserved this.
“You nearly killed someone, and for what? What reason, Kai? Because he was in your territory? Please, you don’t kill someone who approaches you with caution! You don’t deliver a deathblow to a wolf who has his fucking belly up in surrender!”
“Jongdae!” Sloane called. She spun around to see her usually casual and goofy friend. He was glaring at Kai, his chest heaving. “You’re going to wake him up.”
Jongdae stood up and walked out the room, but when he was in front of Kai he muttered, “I’m disappointed in you, Leader.”
Once he was out of the room, Sloane sighed and Kai sat where Jongdae was sitting prior.
“He’s right,” he confessed, running his fingers through his hair to yank on the strands. “What was I thinking?”
“You told me that it was dangerous,” Sloane began, after a small silence. “You being a wolf. You said that you don’t have complete control; that the wolf takes over. You saw a threat and proceeded to get rid of it.”
“But Jongdae is right. When he approached us, he was cautious, letting us know he didn’t want any trouble. Still, I attacked him. Even when he was surrendering, I was all too willing to end his life. I’ve never been like that before. It scares me.”
Sloane sighed, sitting a tad straighter. “I know this guy.”
“What?” Kai’s arms fell limply at his side.
“I mean, I don’t know know him, but I saw him earlier this week.”
Kai didn’t know what to say to that.
“At least you stopped,” Sloane continued. “At least you were able to get him here safely.”
“Not without him nearly bleeding out.”
“Well, it’s a good thing I’m here then, huh?”
They sat in silence, watching the boy sleep. He had pale skin and jet-black shaggy hair. His face was blessed with angelically soft features and his build was sturdy, yet lanky.
He began twitching in his sleep, and with a loud gasp, the boy sprang forward. His bare chest was shiny with sweat and was rising and falling quickly.
He sensed the two in the room and jerked his head towards them, “who are you!?”
“I was about to ask you the same thing,” Sloane murmured with a soft, yet dazzling smile.
The boy looked confused, his eyes wandering back and forth between Sloane and Kai as his nose flared.
Finally, his eyes widened with realization as they bored into Kai, “You…you tried to kill me!”
Kai winced. Of course, he would recognize his scent.
“I—”
“Don’t worry about him right now,” Sloane interrupted. “As a matter of fact, he’s leaving.”
“I am?”
“Yes,” She said sternly.
Hesitantly, Kai left the room, shuffling back to the living room where the others were sitting, awake and aware.
“We heard him. Is he awake?” Kyungsoo asked.
Kai met his eyes briefly before nodding.
“Come here,” Kyungsoo ordered, pulling his leader down on the chair with him. “We’re not angry with you, Jongin.”
“One of you are.”
“Jongdae will get over it,” the shorter boy assured. “Don’t beat yourself up, alright?” Kai didn’t answer, so Kyungsoo punched him slightly on the arm. “Alright?”
Kai nodded again and sniffed, not wanting to cry in front of his members.
~*~
“Do you remember me?” Sloane asked the werewolf, who had relaxed somewhat since his attempted murderer left the room.
He studied her and slowly nodded, “the girl… I bumped into you earlier. You dropped your books….”
“And you caught them all before they had the chance to even hit the ground. I should have realized it then, but I still don’t know much about werewolves.”
He blinked at her.
“I’m sorry about what happened last night. I’m not even sure they all know what happened, but I know they are all incredibly sorry. Especially the one that was in here. He’s the leader of this pack.”
“And what are you? You’re definitely not a werewolf.”
Sloane grinned, “That I am not. I’m not sure what I am. I hope you don’t mind, one of your wounds was infected, so I took the liberty to help with healing you.”
The werewolf reached up to his neck, but was met with smooth flesh. He sighed with relief and glanced back at the girl, “you’re overflowing my senses with your power. Are you a witch?”
“No,” she answered, mostly out of habit.
He stared at her in wonder.
“Are you hungry?” He shook his head. “Are you tired?” He shook his head again. “Are you going to tell me your name, at least?”
He finally broke into a smile, and it was beautiful, “Baekhyun. Byun Baekhyun.”
“Hello, Baekhyun. My name is Sloane Collins. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“You as well.”
“One of the members brought you some clothes… It’s not much, but it would probably be easier on the both of us if you were clothed.”
Baekhyun glanced down at himself and his face turned an endearing bright red.
Sloane chuckled and placed the pair of shorts and plain white shirt on her bed, “I’ll be in the living room. It’s right down the hall.”
He smiled at her appreciatively as she headed out.
Sloane fell on top of the couch with a huff. Sehun and Jongdae quickly joined the others in the living room and they all stared at her expectantly.
She groaned when she realized all eyes were on her, “what?”
“You know what,” Kai said.
“He’s awake…”
“We know,” Tao sang, pointing at his ears. “What happened? Is he alright?”
“He’s fine… A bit disoriented, but fine.”
“Did he tell you anything about himself?” Kai asked.
“His name is Byun Baekhyun, but that’s all the information I have on him. He’s changing right now, I told him to join us once he is dressed.”
It didn’t take long before Baekhyun was shuffling into view. He nervously glanced around the room at the werewolves before making his way to Sloane, sitting stiffly beside her. He stared at her expectantly, blinking innocently, but jumped as a few of the boys groaned.
“Not you too!” Chanyeol complained, throwing a couch cushion in the air.
“W—what?” The boy asked, utterly confused.
“She healed him,” Kai informed his pack, although none of them realized what that meant.
“Anyways,” Sloane began, demanding their attention. “I believe there is something that needs to be said before we continue any further.”
She gave Kai a meaningful look and he cleared his throat uncomfortably, “I’m sorry, Baekhyun. About last night, I didn’t mean… it was not my intention….”
“It’s alright,” Baekhyun stated with a small smile.
“It’s not!” Kai countered, finally working the nerve to meet the stranger’s gaze. “I was going to kill you.”
“But you didn’t,” Baekhyun said with a shrug. “That’s all that matters.”
The other boys apologized as well, and Baekhyun accepted them graciously.
“Now that that’s all out of the way,” Sloane said. She turned towards the boy, “how did you end up in Kai’s forest last night?”
Baekhyun shifted uncomfortably, “well, I’d been in town for a couple weeks. I knew there was a pack nearby and was waiting to approach you, but I didn’t know what to say. I decided that the full moon would be a good idea, because you would see me as a wolf and not question it… at least, that’s what I had hoped for.”
“Why did you want to meet us?” Kyungsoo asked, handing the boy a glass of water.
“I don’t belong to any pack,” Baekhyun informed once he chugged half the glass. “I’m alone.”
“He’s a rogue?” Tao asked, the pitch of his voice higher with fear. Sehun, Chanyeol, and Kai’s eyes changed into their wolfs’ at the idea of a rogue.
“Calm down!” Jongdae barked. “If he wanted to kill us, we would have a while ago. Not all rogues are vicious anyway.”
The three relaxed, and Jongdae rolled his eyes.
“What happened?” Sloane asked, visibly concerned. “Why are you alone?”
Baekhyun stared at his hands that were wrapped firmly around his cup, his knuckles were snow white from how tightly he gripped it, “I don’t know. I’ve always been.”
“Were you bitten?” Kai asked.
Baekhyun shook his head, “no. I was definitely born a werewolf, but I’m an orphan. The first time I shifted, it was in front of my foster parents. They were so terrified they kicked me out on the spot. I’ve been wandering ever since.
“I told you all I have been here for a few weeks. In that time, I watched you. You seemed like a nice pack, and I was envious—especially of you, Sloane.”
His eyes flickered over to her and he chuckled lowly—self-consciously.
Sloane tilted her head, “why?”
“Because,” his kept eye contact with the magical girl. “You all seemed like a family. I knew you weren’t a werewolf, yet they had accepted you. I wish I could feel accepted.”
“You can,” Sloane whispered, and she smiled reassuringly at him. “You can. With us. Right guys?”
She scanned the six pack mates. They were silent, for whatever reason. All of them avoided her gaze.
“Kai?” She tried.
He scratched his chin and whined silently before meeting her gaze, “what? You want him to stay with us too? As if I have the room?”
The hostility in his voice caused Baekhyun to flinch and his shoulders to slump.
Sloane was unperturbed, “If he doesn’t have anywhere else to stay, I don’t see why not. He’s been alone all his life. He needs brothers, Kai. He needs you guys.”
“But I—”
“He can stay at my place.” All heads snapped over to the giant who had been sitting quietly on the floor beside the television for most of the conversation.
“You don’t have to feel obligated to do so, Chanyeol,” Kai assured.
Chanyeol shrugged nonchalantly, “Why not? I highly doubt my parents would mind another werewolf in the house. I don’t have a spare room, but my bedroom has a lot of space, and I wouldn’t mind sharing.”
“You would do that?” Baekhyun breathed in awe, slightly overwhelmed by the hospitality the giant shown.
The two locked eyes and Chanyeol nodded firmly, “I know what it’s like to be an outcast, Baekhyun. No one should have to deal with being a werewolf alone.”
“That’s our little Delta!” Sehun gushed, falling on top of Chanyeol. The two began wrestling on the floor, knocking over a lamp in the process.
“Are you alright with adding another member to your pack, Kai?” Sloane asked the tense alpha.
Kai ran through the events that happened not even twenty-four hours ago. Of him attempting to take Baekhyun’s life. He had no idea what the pup had been through prior to that night, and now the guilt seemed to pile onto his skin like dirt, making him feel grimy and gross.
He gasped for air and looked up, looked at Baekhyun—at the earnest and hopeful look in his eyes—and knew without a doubt, that he wanted him in his pack, “any werewolf is welcome. I’m the alpha of this pack, Kim Jongin, but I go by Kai. From this day on, I will be your alpha, Byun Baekhyun. Welcome to our pack.”
All the boys hooted and hollered. Sehun ran over and ruffled Baekhyun’s hair, yelling incoherently in his ear. Sloane clapped along, a giant smile on her face, but it was dim compared to the one on Baekhyun’s.
“Now that that’s all settled,” Sloane said once the excitement died down. “Will you all please get dressed?! I’ve seen enough naked bodies to last me a lifetime!”
“Hey!” Sehun huffed. “We’re all wearing underwear!”
“I’m sick of all the skin! Are you all not cold!?”
“You know werewolves run hot!”
“That doesn’t mean you have to act as if you think you are hot enough to walk around this house half naked!”
“Whatever, Sloane! Don’t act like you don’t like it!”
“Ew! Sehun, don’t touch me!”
The day ended on a high note, the boys’ surviving another full moon.
3. The Sullen Siblings
The halls were silent.
Almost eerie, considering the time. Byun Baekhyun gulped as his eyes skittered around the dimly lit hall.
His ears perked, noticing the small explosions of heels on tile and he sighed from the familiar sound.
“Are you nervous?” Her voice smooth, sweet, comforting. He couldn’t help but smile at just the mere thought of her, but she was there in his presence, an eyebrow lifted as she studied him.
He cleared his throat and wiped his sweaty palms on his pant legs, “is it that obvious?”
Sloane slowly shook her head, “no. Not for others, at least. Come.”
She grabbed his hand and led him down the hall into the office. It was stuffy and smelled slightly moldy, but Baekhyun tried his best not to cringe.
He hated school.
When he actually attended school, he was bullied relentlessly, but he had faith that this school would be different. He had faith in his pack, in Sloane. Hence why he was allowing her to drag him into the office.
His pack. He still couldn’t believe after nineteen years, he was finally able to say those words.
Apparently, Tao is ridiculously rich, and he begged his parents to yank some strings so that they could get Baekhyun enrolled. As before mentioned, their university was prestigious and private, only accepting the best of the best—also known as the rich of the rich—so it came to no surprise that getting Baekhyun in wasn’t going to be an easy feat.
Unless, of course, you’re Huang Zitao.
Baekhyun couldn’t even feign his surprise by Tao’s generosity. Tao seemed rather… Detached. Unbothered by everything. Baekhyun would even go as far as to classify the tall werewolf as frightening. But when he brought it up to Sloane the night before, she laughed, genuinely confused by his assessment.
“Well, if that’s what you see, it definitely won’t last for long. Trust me.”
The two new students headed over to the desk where the principal’s assistant sat and she printed out Baekhyun’s class schedule.
Once they were out, he kept staring at the piece of paper in awe. Sloane noticed the slight shake of his hand and grinned.
“Would ya look at that? We have biology together.”
Baekhyun’s head snapped up to stare at her, his expression still in that dreamy state of disbelief. “We have a class together?”
She nodded; getting the reaction out of him she wanted. “Yup. Chanyeol is also in that class.”
The sparkle in his eyes nearly tripled.
But then the bell rang.
Doors sprang open and hoards of students trailed out, flooding the halls.
Baekhyun’s nerves got the best of him; flashbacks of his brief time in school making him break out in a cold sweat as shoulders bumped into him. He was instantly aware of his clothes and hair and height and everything he ever was insecure about and he could feel a panic attack crawling up his throat.
A warm soft hand slid into his damp one, tightly gripping his limb and bringing his attention to Sloane.
“You’re okay. You’re here with me.”
“And me,” a deeper voice called and Baekhyun was surprised he could hear it over all the chaos around him.
The hall in front of them seemed to part and about five feet away, Kai, Chanyeol, Tao, and Sehun were making their way towards Baekhyun and Sloane. Kai was the one Baekhyun heard and it made some sense now, because people were quieting down as the boys walked.
Sloane had been at the university for about two weeks now and in that time she had sensed that the boys who she was starting to consider her friends were pretty popular. But, she could admit, she was very ignorant to it all—for there were more important matters to her. But now she was seeing it all first hand and wow how could she not have noticed it before? The way girls—and guys—were not only giving them space, but also how they all giggled and gushed once the guys passed them. Not to mention the ogling….
They were viewed as gods here.
She couldn’t help but to wonder where that put her in the college hierarchy.
It wasn’t looking too good.
She shook away her thoughts and the sense of impending doom and glanced at Baekhyun, who would be a part of all this attention in less than a minute.
He seemed to gather what was coming for him, and his free hand twitched at the hem of his uniform jacket. Sloane could tell how uncomfortable Baekhyun felt in it, as if he were not worthy of such things, and it hurt her soul. She was going to do everything in her power to make sure that beautiful smile of his never faded.
Kai and the gang finally met up with the two and stopped before them.
“Did you get your schedule?” Chanyeol asked Baekhyun.
Baekhyun nodded and practically threw the piece of paper at his new roommate. Chanyeol grinned at the action, but didn’t mention it as his eyes wandered down the sheet. He wasn’t the only one with wandering eyes. A lot of the students were now noticing Baekhyun, and he felt each stare penetrate him like a knife.
“We have biology together,” Chanyeol said. Handing him back the paper.
“I know. Sloane told me.”
“Did she also tell you that you’re sweating like a stripper in church?” Tao commented with a slightly disgusted look on his face.
“I….”
“Leave him alone,” Sloane hissed, narrowing eyes on the taller boy. “It’s his first day and you all are giving him more attention than he needs.”
“Well he better get used to it,” Sehun sighed. “It’s not going to get any easier.”
He sauntered passed them, heading over to his next class.
“He’s right,” Kai murmured to Baekhyun. “The students here… they have nothing better to do with themselves, I guess.”
“Ya’ll are hot and mysterious,” Sloane shrugged. “Of course you are popular.”
Kai scowled.
“You think we’re hot?” Chanyeol smirked, eyes glittering flirtatiously.
Sloane shrugged, unfazed. “I have eyes, Yeol.”
Chanyeol stiffened at the name, “you… you gave me a nickname!”
Kai rolled his eyes, “come on. The bell is about to ring.”
The four dispersed. Baekhyun, Sloane, and Chanyeol had their shared biology class next so they headed there.
The minute walk felt like an eternity to Baekhyun. The whole time his eyes flittered around the hall, taking in everything. A lot of people they passed whispered to one another, gazes trained on the three of them. The hot and popular Park Chanyeol followed by the mysterious new foreigner girl and an equally as attractive new boy. Baekhyun didn’t know how to take the ‘being attractive’ thing, so he decided not to let it get to him.
He also didn’t really like the way people were talking about Sloane.
She told him that his strong need to be around her was a byproduct of her power. That a slight bond had been made between the two of them and it would wear off in a week or so, but he wasn’t so sure. Since the first time he saw her, he knew he wanted to be around her. She had a calmness about her, a gentleness that made him like her.
But he seemed to be the only one.
Everyone they passed was either curious about her or completely disgusted. It made his wolf furious that people were so quick to judge someone they obviously knew nothing about.
Chanyeol must have sensed it, because he glanced at the smaller boy with wide eyes that grew impossibly bigger once he saw the glowing deep ocean blue of his irises.
“Whoa, man!” He whispered so that no one else could hear.
Baekhyun’s eyes snapped shut as he tried to control his wolf. Chanyeol’s big hand came up to rub his back encouragingly and after a short moment, Baekhyun’s melted chocolate colored eyes returned.
“Thought we lost you there for a moment,” Chanyeol said. His face was drawn together with concern as he took in his member’s appearance.
“What happened?” Sloane asked as they slipped into class right before the bell rang.
“The way they were talking about you….” Baekhyun locked eyes with the girl and she gulped. The blue was slowly bleeding into his iris.
“They talk,” Chanyeol dismissed, loosening his already lazy tie even more. “That’s what they do.”
“Not about Sloane,” Baekhyun growled, baring his teeth.
Chanyeol raised an eyebrow, then lifted his hands in surrender. “Alright, Baekhyun. You’re right. Let’s sit down, okay?”
Baekhyun was fighting his wolf again and it caused his senses to skyrocket. Sloane bit her lip in worry as he remained standing in the front of the classroom, the teacher introducing him to the rest. His neck was tight with strain and his eyes were closed in case they weren’t the right color.
He bowed quickly once he was introduced and made his way next to Sloane, who immediately grabbed his hand under their shared table.
The bond between them flared, and Baekhyun gasped as energy ran up his arm.
“You’re alright now,” Sloane grinned mischievously. Leaving Baekhyun stunned, but his wolf was dead silent, and he sighed with relief. “Now listen to the teacher and do good in school, okay? We didn’t get you enrolled so that you can scare everyone.”
“Yes ma’am.”
~*~
“I haven’t even been here the whole day and I’m exhausted,” Baekhyun pouted. His backpack was already trailing behind him on the floor and his jacket was hanging off his shoulders.
“It’s lunch time,” Jongdae began in a warning tone. The two had calculus together which was their class right before lunch break. “You better brace yourself. Chanyeol told me about your wolf coming out this morning.”
Baekhyun groaned, ruffling his dark hair. “I don’t think he will be making another appearance today, but—” he took a deep breath in front of the wide doors to the cafeteria. “Alright. I’m ready.”
Jongdae chuckled and pushed the doors open. The dull hum of multiple conversations exploded and Baekhyun shuddered before entering the giant room behind his pack member.
Out of all the boys, Jongdae was definitely the most caring to Baekhyun. He was sure it had something to do with being the only one without a guilty conscious for attacking him the first full moon together. Jongdae has felt like an older brother for the past days, helping him with whatever issues he has had and always asking him if he is all right. Baekhyun has been thankful.
They grabbed a tray and loaded it with food before Jongdae led Baekhyun to a table nearly filled with familiar faces.
“How is it going so far?” Tao asked curiously.
Baekhyun bit his lip. “Besides nearly going wolf a couple times, it hasn’t been too bad. The classes don’t seem too difficult.”
“Has anybody tried talking to you?” Kyungsoo asked.
Baekhyun shook his head. “No. But I have been getting a lot of stares. It makes me nervous, I don’t like it.”
“I told you earlier that you need to get used to it,” Sehun said. “Hanging out with us, well, we get that a lot.”
“We’re kind of like celebrities,” Jongdae revealed with a relaxed shrug.
“Celebrities?” Baekhyun repeated, eyeing the cafeteria and locking eyes with more people than he would like. “I don’t know….”

Chapter One: Bright Lights
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
It had been weeks since the last time he’d heard from Charley, and Ed was starting to get offended. How could his best friend just up and abandon him like this for the popular guys? Mark and Ben were assholes, the worst kind, gaping, infected, disgusting. Ed couldn’t fathom hanging out with the two stoners, but he figured Charley saw something in them because he spent all his time with them and Amy.
Still, Ed was feeling left out. Charley had been so close to him and Adam, and now it was just radio static on his end. He’d decided that after school, he would try to go see if he could get a hold of Charley by going to his house. His parents had needed him at home, however, so he’d gone home to handle his chores and the family trip to Pizza Hut. After his room was clean, the garbage was on the curb, and his belly was full, the sun was already starting to set. Regardless, he was going to see Charley even if it killed him.
Perhaps he shouldn’t have had that thought.
As he walked, he listened to a playlist on his iPod that would hopefully give him the confidence to confront his friend. When he saw Charley’s house up the street, he pulled his headphones out and started to cross over the neighbor’s lawn, jogging lightly.
“Hey!” A rather muscular man snapped at him, standing in the shadow of his house, “Don’t run on my lawn!” The Alpha barked, using the tone he knew would make the Omega listen. Ed paused, staring at him for a moment, just standing on his lawn with wide eyes, not unlike a deer in the headlights.
“What did I just say,” His statement wasn’t a question, but a barked order, and he narrowed his eyes as he crossed his lawn with all the power and grace of a tiger stalking its prey, “Move, Omega.” He growled, finally close enough to touch the teen before him. He’d smelled the Omega on him from far away, but suddenly he was hit with a strong, desperate need to be close. It made him take pause, blinking a little.
He was the one. The one he’d been searching for.
Taking Ed by his armpits, he lifted him up like he weighed nothing and strolled to the sidewalk, placing him down gently on the concrete. Ed continued to stare up at him, somehow feeling safe with the glaring Alpha. It was strange, he didn’t know what was happening to him. Most Alphas made him feel flighty and skittish when they were older, and now he felt like he’d die if he left his presence.
“Stay off my lawn, okay?” The man’s voice was softer, now, a purr threatening to underline his words. “I’m Jerry, by the way.”
“Ed.” Finally, he found his voice, nodding a little, “I… Y-yeah, I’ll stay off it.”
Ed couldn’t believe how strange he felt right now, drawn to this stranger like he’d known him his entire life.
“Nice to meet you, Ed.” It was hard not to call him something else, any pet name he could. ‘Precious’ came to mind and he had to shake his head to relieve himself of the thought. “Now, get.” He patted the Omega’s back, giving him a little push in the direction he’d been going.
“Yeah.” Ed nodded, still lost in the fog of being near Jerry. He started walking, hesitant to leave, towards Charley’s house, looking over his shoulder as Jerry started for his front door. “Fuck.” He muttered, rubbing at his hip a little as he took the steps to the door at a jog. Knocking on the door, he waited for a minute or so before ringing the doorbell. It hit him as he rang that he didn’t remember walking to the door.
Jane answered after another ring, and Ed smiled at her. Her return smile was tight, almost sad.
“Hey, Ed.” She offered lamely, “Looking for Charley?”
“Yeah, I, uh, I need to talk to him about something.” Nervousness and an odd sense of despair filled him and he closed his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath, “Is he home?”
Jane visibly tried to sort out an answer and Ed knew that meant he was home but had asked not to speak to him. He sighed, shaking his head.
“Nevermind.”
“No, no.” She sighed, unable to handle the sadness tinging his scent, “ He’s home, upstairs in his room. I don’t know if he’s asleep already or not.” She told him, stepping aside and opening the door up for him. “Come on in.”
With a nod, Ed entered the house, hands in his pockets to keep from fidgeting with them.
“Thanks.” He smiled, though it was saddened, anxious, it didn’t meet his eyes.
“It’s no trouble, just knock before you go in.” She knew her son needed his privacy sometimes, and she didn’t know what he was doing up there at the moment.
“Yeah, I will.” He almost didn’t want to. Heading up the stairs, he sighed as he came to a stop in front of the other’s room. He knocked twice before entering without waiting for an ‘okay’, afraid he would lose his nerve.
“Ed!? What the hell, man!?” Charley exclaimed, eyes wide as he put down the book he was reading for class. He laid out on his bed, one leg bent up against the mattress., but he shot up when Ed entered the room, “You’re supposed to wait before coming in!” He added, eyes narrowing. “What do you want?” It was clear Charley wasn’t impressed with him just showing up unannounced. Even his mom didn’t warn him.
“It’s not like you’re masturbating, I don’t see the problem. I need to talk to you, asshole.” Ed snarled, crossing his arms and shaking his head, “What’s the deal? You’re just going to abandon me and Adam for those dickweeds?”
“Man, you don’t get it,” Charley sighed, shaking his head. The Alpha smelled acrid like he was pained, but Ed ignored it the best he could. “I need this.”
“You need this? Why? I don’t think Amy cares who you’re friends with! Those assholes are gonna throw you to the wolves the second you fuck up.”
“They’re…” He wanted to say ‘good friends’, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it in front of the best friend he’d ever had, “Not so bad.” That was the best he could do.
“Not so bad? Not so bad?” Ed’s voice was shrill and it was clear he didn’t like to hear that. “Mark’s been bullying me since grade school!”
“I… I know, but he’s better, now.” He wasn’t actually better, if anything, his bullying had gotten worse.
“He’s just better because you aren’t a target anymore.” Ed huffed, growling a little under his breath. “I can’t fucking believe you. You can’t ever hang out with me anymore? Not even a little bit? Come on, man, this isn’t you.”
“It’s me, now, Ed.” Charley snapped, eyes narrowing, “Grow up, move on, it’s time we both did.”
Ed had to hold back from another growl, taking a deep, steadying breath and trying not to lose his mind over this. Charley was pissing him off something awful and he was ready to go back to the good feeling he had when he was with Jerry. His thoughts strayed to him and he couldn’t help but bite back a smile. This was no time to feel soft and mushy over a stranger he’d just met.
“You’re a fucking asshole, Charley.” He growled, finally finding his ability to speak. “I hope you rot for this, it’s not fucking fair.”
And Ed was right, it wasn’t fair, and Charley knew that. But he had to keep up appearances. Amy wouldn’t want to date a loser like he used to be. He needed to be cool, and hanging out with Mark and Ben made him cool. It wasn’t like Amy would accept him being friends with Ed and Adam. He had to move on, and he was trying so hard. It wasn’t easy, especially with the scent of despair mixing with the calming scent of rosemary and fire filling his room. Ed was clearly upset and all he wanted to do was hug the Omega standing in his doorway. Soothing him with his scent and a firm hold sounded like the best option, but he went still and glued himself to his bed instead.
“I… Yeah, maybe I am an asshole.” He conceded, shaking his head and standing up. “But you know what? This is my life, now. If you can’t accept it, then I guess you won’t accept that I’ve moved on and that’s fine. I’m not about to abandon my life for you. We can’t be doing... Whatever this is.”
“You’re such a dickweasel, you know that? When they turn on you, and they will, don’t come crying to me. I won’t take you back.” Ed snapped, finally turning on his heels and storming out of the room. It was possible, he realized, that Ed was crying. There was a salty scent in the room, now, and he felt his stomach sink. Charley wanted so badly to call him back, but he heard the front door slam and knew it was too late.
Texting Amy, he hoped she would offer him some form of solace.
[Text To: Amy, 8:07 PM] Hey, what are you up to?
[Text To: Charley Barley, 8:09 PM] Just getting ready for bed, wyd?
[Text To: Amy, 8:09 PM] Ed came over
[Text To: Amy, 8:10 PM] I feel like shit. He’s pissed.
[Text To: Charley Barley, 8:14 PM] Oh shit, u ok?
[Text To: Amy, 8:18 PM] I don’t think so. It hurts
[Text To: Charley Barley, 8:20 PM] U don’t have to leave him u kno. He’s still ur bff.
[Text To: Amy, 8:21 PM] It’s too late now, I don’t think he is anymore. He called me a dickweasel and an asshole and stormed out of my house.
[Text To: Charley Barley, 8:22 PM] It’s not 2 late, apologize.
Her words rang true. He should apologize, but he didn’t think that he could. It wasn’t like Ed was going to respond. He was too angry, now. But he thought he’d try, anyway, at least he could send him a message. He spent a solid five minutes writing and rewriting his text.
[Text To: Evil, 8:27 PM] Hey, man, look, I’m sorry, okay? I just can’t do this right now. I can’t just up and leave, they’ll kill me.You think you have it bad but they would CRUCIFY me. It’s safer having them on my side than against me. I’m sorry they hurt you, maybe I can get them to leave you alone.
At least in his presence, he could help somewhat. Maybe if he influenced Mark and Ben enough, nothing bad would happen.
Ed turned on his read receipts on his phone, leaving Charley on read so he could see how angry he was. What else did Charley expect, an acceptance letter? There was no way after what had just happened that he’d do that. Still, the text on his phone kept him up most of the night, spending time browsing the web didn’t help, either. He ended up on Peter Vincent’s website, as he did, rereading something about vampires in California. It was always interesting to read about it, even if he’d reread this story a thousand times. Maybe he should check something else.
He turned to a forum he was part of, searching for ways to talk to Charley. No one was helpful, all of them told him not to accept the apology. Somewhere deep down, he wanted to. He picked up his phone several times, writing out responses before he ended up deleting them.
Charley didn’t sleep well that night, either, thinking about what he’d said and how he could make it up to his friend. Maybe they could hang out after school sometime if Evil would even look at him.
The next day in class was horrible, with Ed shooting him looks that told him he wanted to talk, and then glaring daggers at him. If looks could kill, Charley would be full of knives in the back. Even after class, Ed turned his back on him, stomping out of class like it was the best thing he’d ever done.
“Hey, man, you look… Shitty.” Mark commented with a raised eyebrow, leaning on Charley’s locker, “You okay?” He didn’t really care, but it seemed like the right thing to do.
“Uh, yeah. I just didn’t sleep last night.” Not well, anyway. He’d had a nightmare that Ed had died, and he didn’t really know what to do with that.
“You gonna sleep during class?” Ben asked, though he didn’t really mind either way. It wouldn’t affect him. That was what Ben always did when he couldn’t sleep at night.
“I dunno, maybe.” He had social studies next, and that meant he’d probably sleep to the teacher’s droning monotone.
“Cool, cool.” Mark brushed it off easily, “You should get some sleep, and then we’re going out after school.”
“We are?” That would throw a wrench into his plans with Ed, for sure. But maybe it would give Ed time to cool off. With any luck, he’d come to actually accept his apology if he just gave him some time.
“We are. You, me, Ben, the car, some weed.” Maybe they’d troll the mall after smoking a bit. “We could go out somewhere, get some food.”
“Uh, yeah, sure. I’ll be there.” Charley needed some time to think, and maybe the weed would help his mood.
“Alright, see you then, man.” Mark and Ben started for their next class, leaving Charley to his thoughts. He spun the dial and opened his locker, getting out his book for his social studies class.
He worried that Ed would never accept his apology, and that cut him to the core. All he wanted was for Ed to forgive him and for things to go back to normal, but he guessed this was his new normal, now.

How much of Disney Afternoon have you seen and thoughts on the shows from that era you saw?
Ahhh I think the best way to handle this ask is in list form!
Tumblr media
I’ll use the list of shows off Wikipedia to make sure I don’t miss any.
I was born in 1992 so most of my memories of Disney Afternoon shows are actually of watching reruns of them all day long with my big brother at my grandma’s old house during summers in the mid-late ‘90s.
The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Tumblr media
I mean, obviously I started watching that in diapers. We actually had a couple episodes on VHS that I watched at home a lot, and I got to see the rest of the show at grandma’s (we usually just had basic cable at home).
Adventures of the Gummi Bears
Weirdly, we didn’t watch it. I wonder if my mom didn’t let us because of the magic? Like I get some parents not letting their kids watch stuff with magic, but I don’t get how weirdly selective most of them are about it. Most parents who ban certain shows or movies because of magic will still let their kids watch other things with magic.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
DuckTales (1987)
My school’s daycare had some episodes on VHS (including “Duck to the Future” ...*shudders*) and I think they had the movie, too. I also remember renting the movie from Blockbuster and watching it perched on the end of my mom’s bed. DuckTales usually wasn’t on during the day during summers though, from what I remember... if we ever saw it at Grandma’s house, it was if we were spending the night there. It’d come on in the evenings.
Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers
Tumblr media
OKAY THIS SHOW WAS NUMBER ONE I ADORED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. It had my first OTP, I made my first OCs for it... I’m pretty sure this show is what made me like... a fandom kinda fan. I re-watched the whole series again when I was 15, but it’s been a while. My favorite episode when I was little was “Out to Launch.”
TaleSpin
I watched it sometimes. It’d be the show that was on when my mom would drop us off at Grandma’s at 7:30 am. Not sure why I never got super into it. Maybe I was just anticipating the shows I liked more that would come on later in the morning? Or I was confused how Baloo from The Jungle Book could be a pilot with clothes. Those kinds of things confuse kids, ya know?
Darkwing Duck
Tumblr media
This was my second fave as a kid, and one of the ones I re-watched when I was 15. It started to mean a whole lot more to me then, since I was learning to come to terms with not growing up with a dad in the house, and seeing Drake with Gosalyn simultaneously made me grieve over that and find comfort knowing as a Christian God is my adoptive Father. <3
What’s that? You wanna see a Drake and Gosalyn AMV that’s absolutely flawless and will make you cry? Well look no further. Here’s a link to “Darkwing Duck & Gosalyn- You are Loved (Don’t Give Up)” by Villaness.
Goof Troop
This is another one I didn’t watch all the time. But I would sometimes. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it.
Bonkers
Tumblr media
This one was probably my third favorite. I loved Fall Apart. Just thinking about the show makes me crave mac ‘n’ cheese, since it usually came on at lunchtime and that’s all I ever wanted my grandma to make for me. XD Also Bonkers was mac ‘n’ cheese colors. Even his little police uniform was blue like the Kraft box. Good times.
Aladdin (the series)
Yup, I watched it. Wasn’t my fave, but wasn’t boring.
Quack Pack
Tumblr media
Shoot, I kinda wanna tie this with Bonkers as my third favorite from when I was a kid. I loved Quack Pack. I thought it was cool seeing HDL as teenagers. I liked Louie the best. Weirdly though when I try to re-watch it... I dunno, I get bored really fast. So I haven’t watched it all the way through again.  Half the time I imagine Daisy saying something though I still hear it in my head with Kath Soucie’s voice instead of Tress MacNielle’s because of Quack Pack. XD
Mighty Ducks
Didn’t watch it... not really a sports fan.
The Lion King’s Timon and Pumbaa
Tumblr media
I liked this one a lot. Usually episodes of this on VHS would be my go-to at Blockbuster, and I’d watch it at Grandma’s, too.
Gargoyles
I don’t think I was allowed to watch it. I wasn’t really interested in it, anyway.
101 Dalmatians (the series)
Tumblr media
Given the movie was one of my favorite movies as a kid, of course I liked the series based off it. Sometimes the theme song STILL gets stuck in my head, even though I can’t really remember all the lyrics.
Doug
I actually got to watch this throughout the year, since it’d also air on ABC on Saturday mornings (with Recess and such). But Doug was in junior high and I couldn’t totally relate to him yet, so I preferred Recess.
Hercules (the series)
We weren’t allowed to see the movie so we just assumed we couldn’t watch the show, either.
Some other shows I’d watch on the Disney Channel or Toon Disney were Madeline, The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, The Little Mermaid (series), and Jungle Cubs.
Hey, was anyone else watching the Jungle Cubs episode “The Coming of the Wolves,” in Summer 2000 when Toon Disney just suddenly vanished from channel 52 (I think we had Charter cable)? Like, Cartoon Network on channel 51 still worked, 53 (whatever it was) worked, but 52 just became black and white static for no reason. Sad day. I liked Toon Disney better than the Disney Channel.
A few years later when my brother and I were old enough to stay home alone (and Grandma moved 2.5 hours away, besides), mom would get good cable for us during summer and I found Toon Disney on channel like... 304? But by then my favorite shows weren’t even airing anymore. :/
