Ergotherapie in Tsjechië!
Hoi allemaal!
Jullie SPOT-Team

The immediate impact of the Israeli occupation was to exacerbate unemployment: service jobs for the Egyptian army and UN forces vanished, trade with Egypt halted, and the port was closed. Moreover, since the combined GNP of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip was only 2.6 percent of the Israeli GNP in 1967, they faced inevitable integration into the Israeli economy as the occuption continued. Furthermore, Israeli policies increased the Strip's dependency. These practices included permitting only certain Gaza products to be sold within Israel, flooding the Gaza market with Israeli goods, restructuring Gaza's agriculture, and encouraging Arab laborers to work in Israel.
The Balance and Composition of Trade. After only one year of occupation, 72 percent of Gaza's imports came from Israel; no imports were allowed from Egypt, and 1 percent of its imports came from Jordan (the balance came from Europe). This represented a dramatic shift, since all the prewar trade had been either directly with Egypt or with Europe and Asia through the Gaza port. [...]
A decade later the shift in trading patterns was even more pronounced. [...] 91 percent of imports came from Israel, and nothing was imported from Jordan or Egypt. [...] Dates, strawberries, and vegetables were also sold to Israel, and local industries engaged in subcontracting for Israeli firms.
Agriculture and industry were both hard hit by Israeli competition. Israeli eggs, poultry, and even vegetables sell at lower prices than local produce, and virtually all canned and bottled goods come from Israel. [...]
A 15 percent excise tax and soaring inflation erode the profits of merchants and factory owners. Gazans have no way to hedge against inflation, since the Israeli shekel is the only legal tender on the Strip.
Restructuring Agriculture. Israel has prevented farmers from exporting to Israel any items that compete with Israeli produce and has imposed restrictions on the planting of certain crops. As a result, the output of melons, onions, grapes, almonds, olives, and fish has decreased. Farmers need permits to plant trees and vegetables.
[...] The government has encouraged production of some specialized crops, such as strawberries and dates. Farmers in Beit Lahiya village say that they were ordered to grow strawberries and would otherwise have been prevented from using their land and well. These strawberries are marketed exclusively through Ashkelon port by the Israeli export firm Agrexco. No permits, however, have been given to farmers to plant such crops as mangoes and avocados, which are also grown in Israel.
Arab Labor in Israel. In 1970, 10 percent of the Gaza labor force was employed in Israel, but at present approximately 40 percent (35,000 persons) work there. This includes 25,000 workers who are registered with the official labor exchange and another 10,000 who work illegally. The high unemployment within the Strip and the fact that wages inside Israel were five times those in the Strip made such employment irresistible.
[...] Even those holding regular jobs face difficult conditions. For example, it is illegal for them to remain inside Israel from 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. But employers and workers collude in circumventing the law so that the workers will not have to spend several hours every day commuting. Farmers let laborers sleep in huts, abandoned buses, or even in the open under the orange trees. In town, workers jam into hostels, sleep on construction sites, or spread out on the floor in restaurants. There have been cases of disasters when workers locked into factories at night were unable to escape when fires broke out. [...]
The overall impact of Israeli economic policy is to turn the Gaza Strip into a large labor camp. The Strip is a source of cheap labor for Israel and its internal economic base is continually eroded.

ooo! thats very interesting??? :0 would like to think if we take his role and occuptation as an actuary in mind things would probably go a lot differently if not somewhat similarly to zaggy in a way.
because actuaries focus on the statistics for risks. he'd be like a more anxious zag, wanting things to go as prescisely as possibly all the while being just a bit too in over his own head.

a lil insight to the past of queer and disability solidarity, my present as a disabled queer and my hopes for the future 🧡
[ID: A swirly, varied shades of orange background for all slides. Text reads; Queers & Disability. 504, Intersectionality & Hostility. Background credit - @/imemilysandoval (pintetest).
What is/was 504? In April of 1977, disability activists in America organised to protest and fight for the enactment of Section 504, which included occupying government buildings across the country. Section 504 declared that no person should be excluded, denied benefits, or discriminated against on the basis of their disability. While congress passed Section 504 eventually, disability activists had to continue the fight to have the proper resources and funding delegated to accessibility.
Community Support for the Movement. During their fight for rights, the disabled community received an outreach of support from several marginalised groups and movements. In San Fransisco, after occupting a government building the disabled protesters were provided hot meals by the Black Panther Party, and received assistance from others like the Gay Men's Butterfly Brigade and Delaney Street.
Support From Queer Women. Lesbian hairdressers' support was noted in a popular disability history documentary, Crip Camp, as having assisted the activists in a different way - hygiene. A group of lesbians brought tubs of shampoo and conditioner into the occupied building and washed of the protesters, who complained they were "sick of the grease" in their hair that had formed during the extensive sit in.
Intersectionality Now. Intersectional queers these days face unique struggles. The queer community routinely neglects and speaks over queers who face "non-queer issues" - such as queers of colour, indigenous queers, queers under the poverty line, mentally ill queers, intersex queers and disabled queers. We fail to stand up and fight against racism with the same passion we fight against queerphobia, we fail to acknowledge the land we celebrate on as stolen, we put queer fairs behind pay gates, we don't fight for institutionalised queers, we neglect our sex workers and working class queers, and we abuse our intersex queers, day in, day out.
A Hostile Pride. Our marches are held on cobbled roads, our events hosted behind tight-squeeze push doors. The rallies have flashing lights and the nearest bathrooms are blocks away. Small, queer-owned businesses have ailse too small to fit wheelchair users and have stairs to the doorway anyway. Organisers have reached out to me asking for advice on how to properly recognise and include disabled people in their queer events, only to ignore me and insist they know better. Neurodivergencies are demonised, and false warnings of "this evil disorder hates queer people" are spread without a second thought.
A Brighter Future (?). I hope for a pride where the accessibility information is on the pamphlet. I hope for a queer-owned business I can actually enter. I hope for a queer dance I can attend. I hope for queer picnics with food I can eat. I hope for a queer community that respects me. I hope for a queer organiser that acknowledges my years of lived experience and appreciates my efforts to educate them on issues they can easily learn about on your own. I hope for a queer community I belong to.
The treatment of disabled queers is disgusting. Do better. End ID]

"Serial Designation A, at your service!"
Murder Drones spoilers
Serial Designation A
Serial Number: A-X11X010XX11
Alias: A, Alexia
Species: Disassembly Drone, Worker Drone(formerly)
Eye Color: Neon Cyan
Gender: Female, Male(Anatomy and formerly)
Occuption: Student, Disassembly Drone(determinant)
Status: Active
Place of Birth: Copper 9
Friends:
Serial Designation N (Close friend)
Serial Designation V (Girlfriend)
Serial Designation J (Sister figure)
Uzi Doorman (Best friend and foster sister)
Cyn (Younger sister figure)
Doll (close friend)
Lizzie
Thad
Likes: Studying languages, hanging out with her friends, watching anime with Uzi
Dislikes: Being called a "he", people getting hurt, seeing her friends fighting, the Absolute Solver.
History:
Serial Designation A is a former worker drone created on Copper 9. Albeit modified by the Absolute Solver, A was discarded and was eventually found a few meters outside Door 1. She was originally taken in by the worker drones for questioning, but as she possessed no answers and seemed horrified at the accusations of murder, the worker drones figured that she was probably a faulty Disassembly Drone.
The worker drones volunteered Khan to take care of her due to his reputation of a hero. He very reluctantly did so and was very wary of her presence. She was given the name Alexia to fit in more, and Khan was relieved when he saw how fast she and Uzi became friends.
After the murder drones' attack, Alexia was disgusted at Khan's actions of leaving Uzi for dead, following Uzi and N after the former's self-proclaimed banishment.
Personality:
Serial Designation A is a kind drone who wants to see the best in everyone. She's more of a follower than a leader, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have a backbone. She makes it very clear when she doesn't like what someone does, whether that is bullying, selfishness or plain idiocy. Most times she tries to be gentle when expressing her disappointment, but she can be very stern in some instances(such as when Khan abandoned Uzi). She's similar to Serial Designation N in personality in general, but is slightly more serious.
She has a tendency to apologize a lot, especially during battles(that exclude the Absolute Solver) as she sees her opponents as beings that also have feelings and lives, though she knows that fighting is necessary to get past them.

The Roles of the RVT members in Pokemon Horizons
One of the things that I love about Horizons is how the members of the Rising Volt Tacklers are all unique in their role/occuptation. Each member seems to subvert the expectations or stereotypes associated with their position:
Friede is officially the leader and pilot of the Rising Volt Tacklers. Ironically, it's the other members of the group who take charge of him, if you will. For instance, Mollie and Orla counteract his eccentric personality with their sensibility and level-headedness. Also, the other members are quick to correct Friede when he forgets to tell Liko important information. An example of this is when Mollie scolds him for keeping Liko in the dark about the group's intentions in episode two. Although Friede is in charge, the real authority on the airship is the support and knowledge that comes from his friends. Each crew member (apart from the protags) plays a crucial role in the ship's functionality. This is proven further in episode 13 when Orla reveals that she engineered the Brave Asagi on behalf of Friede's wishes. To add, the ship was originally Ludlow's fishing boat, so the ownership goes back to him. By saying this, I don't mean that Friede has no power by himself. However, his leadership is very much scaffolded by his connections to Orla, Murdock, Mollie, Ludlow and Dot.
The other RVT members also subvert the expectations of their retrospective roles. Orla takes on the traditionally male role as both a mechanic and the engineer of the Brave Asagi. Meanwhile, as a male character, Murdock has a more domestic role of cooking. I feel like this was done intentionally to show that the RVTs are all outsiders to some extent. In Mollie's case, she is a nurse joy who took the different path of travelling and caring for wild pokemon. Ludlow, despite his old age, is still eager to travel alongside the others. Even Friede, the head of the group, is unconventional. In episode 12, Liko's mum points out that he does not look like a Pokemon professor. In response, he says "I don't mind. I feel better like this." (according to the subtitles). I've said this in the past, but I think that the reason Friede does not want to be called a professor is because he does not want to be boxed in by that label. He is not just a professor- he is a battler, pilot, friend and Dad. He is an individual in his own right.
One of the things I'm looking forward to seeing the most in Horizons is Liko, Roy and Dot finding their own sense of identity. With how the story has progressed so far, I would love to see how the adult characters continue to influence their development. Speaking of the younger cast members, Liko Roy and Dot are already unique in their own ways. Liko is taking over from a male protagonist after 25 years. Similarly, Roy is the second protagonist, filling in for what has so often been a female sidekick in past seasons. Arguably, he has a much bigger role than a sidekick (being a mc) but he is still the second major character after Liko. In Dot's case, she breaks the binaries between introversion and extraversion through her dual personality. As Nidothing, she wears a facade of confidence and excitement. However, underneath the costume, she is reclusive and hates social interaction. She represents the human condition, imo. Irl, a lot of people come across as more confident than they actually are. This is symbolised through the extreme example of Dot and her personality as Nidothing. (Or that's how I like to think about it).
Overall, the Rising Volt Tacklers are all unique in their own ways. One of the biggest themes in the new anime seems to be overturning common character tropes and stereotypes, and exploring new 'horizons'.
