One for the OC poll: who is Harvey Wallbanger? and why is his name so brilliant? (—this is a complement, I feel "Wallbanger" could totally be a cannon character name—)

okay so story time. Harvey Wallbanger is (like a phoenix) born from the ashes of an old fallout 76 fanfic i was writing in highschool (important time period in my fiction writing because that was during my phase where i gave all my "not like the other girls" very masculine names (something i could unpack in a whole other post on my main blog haha) shoutout to evan and orin).

Anyways, Harvey was one of two protagonists of this fic i was writing back when i knew next to nothing about fallout in general (the other was a sweet country boy named Finley who knew how to play piano) (at least I'm sure Finley was the piano boy and Harvey was the pretentious girl that carried around a DSM-5 canonically) (i can't seem to find any of my handwritten notes for it).

I was living in West Virginia at the time the game was coming out (back when people had hope that it would be a good game) and I was desperate for something good to be set in that state. Funny enough the jankiness is very in character for a game set in good ol' WV. Anyways, that's why I was writing Fallout 76 fanfic before the game had even come out.

Anyways, this Harvey is like a gen 2 reboot of the Harvey I wrote in highschool. Her last name is Wallbanger because I have a love of mixology and a Harvey Wallbanger is a cocktail similar to a Screwdriver (but there are some slight differences but thats also a whole seperate post). Basically the same demon that possessed me to name a plant girl Tex C.M. (short for Texas Chainsaw Massacre) possessed me to name this poor girl Harvey Wallbanger.

Harvey Wallbanger is more of a melee build (because that's just what ended up happening). The main weapons she usesMy goal for her is that she's gonna be mainly a Strength, Endurance, and Intelligence build (i could never fully get rid of that pretentious sheltered girl that carried around a DSM-5 and retraumatized people with her knowledge of radiation). Just like gen 1 Harvey, gen 2 Harvey is also very uncharismatic. She means well, but oh boy.

Her first goal after leaving the vault was to set up a permanent base next to Camden Park (because i wanted to because that was the amusement park I went to with my family growing up). Harvey's new goal is to now find the Smiling Man, Indrid Cold (because I want to and after going nuts in character creation it's pretty fitting).

Speaking of character creation I actually sat down and drew her she's so hottopiccore high school me would've loved her.

Harvey just wants to explore and protect this one run down amusement park. And I love her for that. Also you can't just label a scar set "Forced Smile" and expect me not to give it to every character I create from now on.

I should probably write a backstory as to how she got those scars...

TLDR: Harvey Wallbanger is my Fallout 76 oc that is an edgy mess of a melee build that loves an old amusement park and wants to find Indrid Cold.

dumbest oc: without a doubt alloran - not quite sure how he's survived this long (and it certainly isn't due to his charm), but he's here for a good time not a long time; and in a similar vein, the 777th daughter of lucifer, duchess of hell (or just lucy) is up there. she's not like actually dumb but she is a loser. and she's constantly finding herself in situations that are incredibly silly and would be preventable if not for her hubris

smartest oc: unfortunately my golden kamuy oc luka (who is another no good terrible little man. do you see a pattern here) - he's a certified surgeon who graduated from med school with flying colors, which was definitely not a good thing

Indrid Nyrocstar

Ohhhhhhh gosh this is like one of my oldest ocs. Like made up in sixth grade old. Man habibi you have to make me feel embarrassed to talk about it but OH WELL-

So like at that time, I was really into X-Men and Nightcrawler was one of my favourite characters. Naturally, I ended up creating a character who was cloned from his dna. Indrid was one of those typical angry, traumatized, edgy teenage boys with overpowered abilities raised in a secret facility that created and abused him as well as a complicated healing arc.

I don’t remember much more details but I do remember feeling proud with his name since it’s derived from Indrid Cold (that one cryptid weirdo man) and Nyroc/Coryn from Guardians of Ga’Hoole. now? maybe too much overkill lmao

I actually started revisiting his story and design and began tweaking a few things. but idk if I could just leave him be in the cringe past or make him more relevant in the modern. but anyway he’s now pansexual, nonbinary and aged into his late twenties. little less edgy now. wish I could sketch him but too tired to lmao
