Pls the way that Enna would be so loose and violent when killing Gortash. Just the compassion and swift killing blows she affords Ketheric and Orin vs the wrath she unleashes against the Chosen of the God that caused the death of her—and several thousand others—parents
#the conflict she feels abt hating Torm as a worshipper of the triad vs her sure fire disgust in Bane and his worshippers#oc: enna

I love this!! ♥️♥️ Thank you for the tag!
I’ll pick my ffxiv oc (*´`*)
-> Orpheus Gataki (they/he/she/it)
I picked Orpheus because I’m obsessed with Persona 3 and have been for years. Yuki’s awakening scene did things to me mentally (and I absolutely love giving nicknames when I can, so calling him orphie is my full-time job, I havent said his full name aloud in forever-)
And it’s gonna sound super silly but I knew I wanted him to have a Greek background aside from the obvious first name! Gataki is just Greek for “kitten” because I made him a catboy in ffxiv (his regular oc form is a black wolf because hes originally a fuckin sonic oc-)
Tagging: @wrenegade-accio @huntress-valkyrie @boxdstars @alsopartgekkos @elinoracia and anyone else who’d like to join! ♡⸜(˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)⸝♡
edited to include pronouns shh u didnt see me :x
I've been tagged for a few things but I never created my own tagging thing so
WHY IS YOUR CHARACTER NAMED LIKE THIS ?
Answer then tag five people you want to answer ! (If you have more than one character, just choose one)
-> Aubrey Lockhart.
Needed something British so I went with Master and Commander's captain Aubrey.
The name Lockhart stems from when I was a teacher. Because Gilderoy Lockhart is a bad teacher and a complete inspiration for me.
Tagging : @catohphm @earl-grey-hot @ynyseira @esolean @lilac-crown @boomingsmile @a-smol-homo @sallowslytherin
#more orphie info? why not#in ffxiv lore he’s from the thirteenth#when the flood of darkness happened his family was torm apart and he got snatched away into the void by pashtarot (ascian bitch)#who effectively held him prisoner and used him as an enforcer of sorts#orphie only thought about how this ascian ‘saved’ him from the world ending#so it took him a while to reason Somethin wasnt Right#fastforward a bit and orphie figuratively breaks his chains#and flees to the source with hydaelyn’s help#there he realizes the wol of the source is ascian corrupted and too far gone so he’s tasked with killing them#cue meeting the scions covered in blood with darkness swirling off of him#yshtola was like wtf this guy aint right#but the twins (mostly alisaie) thought he would be a good ally#and so starts his steady road to recovery#now hes just a big lapdog fr#shb was ORPHIES EXPAAAAC#and ew just makes it all better ughh#the loreeeeeee#the world of darkness#also his azem was erebus ;)#more p3 refs hehe#i cant wait to read about yalls blorbos 🥹#oc info#rambles#i could spew abt orphie for hoursssss#dont let me tho#he is my pfp and header img on this blog hehe#i literally always flip flop between orphie’s pronouns#it sometimes depends on how theyre presenting#ie ffxiv catboy atm but even then i will say she when addressing them lmaoo#dont Ever stress abt pronouns with me hehe

Naming Systems
For the humans and tieflings of Baldur's Gate (and half-orcs and half-elves who follow human naming systems rather than that of their non-human culture) Dwarves, elves and others will be done another time to save space.
Obviously I imagine you've all named your Tavs and Durges by now, but idk, I felt like doing this and maybe you've got random background OCs to name.
Sometimes people like to name their kids after gods. Like "Helm" and "Torm".
Chondathan
By far the most common names and surnames in Baldur's Gate (including non-human names).
Quite often people have no official surnames and use locations and vocations as surnames, like in real life (Blackgate, Cliffgate, Tumbledown, Tailor, Gardner)
Families of Cormyrean descent usually favour portmanteau surnames: Evenwood, Breakwood, Ironwinter, Summergate, Amblecrown, etc.
Residents of the Dalelands who move abroad often use the name of their Dale and shorten it. For example, Barantra from Tasseldale upon moving to Baldur's Gate would call herself "Barantra Tassel" and her descendants might continue to use that as a surname.
Dales: Archen, Scar, Tassel, Deeping, Harrow, Battle, Feather, High, Mistle, Shadow, Moon*, Sessren*, Tarkhal*, Teshen*, Dagger, Merry* *These dales have fallen to history. In the case of Merrydale, the name was changed to Daggerdale after an incident involving a brutal vampire infestation that led to a lot of violence and made everybody suspicious and hostile, so these surnames would indicate it's been a long time since your ancestors left the Dalelands.
Sembian families like to invent newer and grander surnames, in an attempt to make themselves look rich and important. This is less likely to be seen in the Western Heartlands, but I suppose it still may occur. Families often hyphenate their names so you might meet "Shandri Clarandal-Tarlroyal", or "Roakyn Dauncrown-Sardar"
-
Canon common given names: Masculine: Darvin, Dorn, Evendur, Gorstag, Grim, Helm, Malark, Morn, Randal, Stedd. Feminine: Arveene, Esvele, Jhessail, Kerri, Lureene, Miri, Rowan, Shandri, Tessele. (Plus a few dozen more I'm not typing out)
While the following isn't exactly canon I feel like you can get a name that "sounds about right" by breaking the syllables down and shoving on a syllable that goes on the end.
Like with the names "Lureene" and "Arveene", the ending is "eene" and you get the syllables "Lur" and "Arv". Then you could get new names by taking, idk, "Kerri" and "Miri". Ker+ri, Mi+ri = Lurri and Kereene and Arvri. Mieene doesn't really sound right, but idk.
Syllables Dar, Dor, D, Even, Gor, Gors, Gr, Mal, M, Rand, Ran, St, S, Arv, Esv, Jhes, Ker, Shand, Bev, Tes, Al, Ald, Alvae, And, Gal, Galag, Cath, Coran, Bold, Bol, Elbas, Ind, Jath, Ont, Prend, Baran, Coel, Dar, Em, Shar, Galiy, Hael, Saldv, Dal, Torv, Varan, Joy, Sar, Pip, Nan, Zor, Nok, Rorn, Far, Soor, Mi
Endings Masculine: -in, -vin, -orn, -dur, -ur, -tag, -stag, -im, -ark, -al, -dal, -edd, -arl, -rel, -rus, -us, -or, -ion, -stion, -ond, -dor, -yn, -dyn, -yk, -ryk, -ke, -il
Gorion, Darvin, Malryk, Tesor, Jathstag...
Feminine: -eene, -ele, -sail, -ri, -dra, -tra, -ra, -la, -ria, -ara, -arra, -one, -ue, -due, -syl, -ala, -ys, -ae, -naem, -ice, -e
Shandra, Miele, Darla, Arvone, Sarice, Cathtra, Bevra...
-
Alzhedo
The second most common group of names heard in the Gate, although early in the city's history I suspect Calishite and Illuskan names were more common. I note that "Jaheira" is likely an Alzhedo name (which makes sense, she's from Tethyr).
So, Calishite filial piety and subsequent naming standards are very detailed and specific: "A person is worthless without the identity gained by his name and that of his family."
A slave will have their given name and the name of the family that "owns" them. A large part of the population of Baldur's Gate are descended from former slaves, exiles and dissidents of the Calishite Shoon Empire, and would likely have originally borne names under that system.
In this case it's [name] adh [master's surname] So for example, Hamlil adh Tahandral. It's possible that it Hamlil had migrated northwards with her family that one of her descendants might be Miri Tahandral or something.
A freeman would list their title/s, their given name, their matronym or patronym, their family name, and their home town.
So if your name is Aseid, your father is Haseir, you're of House Dumein and you live in Baldur's Gate then: your full name, in the traditional manner, is "Aseid yn Haseir el Dumein yi Baldur's Gate," while if you have a sister, Ceidil daughter of Atala is called "Ceidil yr Atala el Dumein yi Baldur's Gate."
Adding your hometown onto the end is usually not necessary, and using it all the time is a sign of civic pride.
Diaspora, such as the Baldurians, usually drop the articles. Aseid Haseir Dumein Ceidil Atala Dumein.
Aseid may chose to use a matronym, Aseid Atala. This deliberately draws attention to her identity over her husband's which is unusual. It implies that his mother is particularly high ranking or infamous. Likewise Cidil may name herself Ceidil Haseir.
Clergy traditionally replace their family with their god, so if Aseid decides to go to the Rose Portal shrine and take up life in service to Lathander, he will be "Aseid el Lathander" or "Aseid Lathander".
Syllables As, Am, And, Bard, Has, Khem, Khe, Meh, Sud, Sudei, Zash, At, Ceid, Cei, Ha, Ham, Jah, Jas, Mei, Meil, Seip, Sei, Yash, Bash, Dum, Jas, Khal, Kha, Most, Mos, Pash, Amj, Tah, Tahan, Bhal, Mjo
Endings: M: -eid, -eir, -ed, -med, -en, -men, -man, -ad, -id, -al, -ein, -an, -ar, -ein, -san, -ir
Amen, Mehsan, Khemad, Zashein...
F: -ala, -edia, -eira, -eda, -il, -a, -ma, -al, -lil, -ida, -eina, -ana, -ara, -eina, -sana, -ira
Jaheira, Bhalil, Yashana, Tahma...
?: -sha
Canon common names: Masculine: Aseir, Bardeid, Haseid, Khemed, Mehmen, Sudeiman, Zashtir. Feminine: Atala, Сеidil, Hama, Jasmal, Meilil, Seipora, Yasheira, Zasheida. Common house names: Dumein, Jasan, Khalid, Mostana, Pashar, Rein.
-
Illuskan
Third most common group.
I can't find much of anything about how naming systems are supposed to work for Illuskans.
Some don't use them at all.
Some go for patronyms and matronyms: -sson and -sdottir, so you get like, Malcersson and Cefreysdottir. These do not seem to be common. Some surnames are: "Kurth", "Helder", "Rethnor", "Stornar", "Rhuul"... This is entirely headcanon/guessing, but maybe they're patronyms and matronyms with the suffix removed? Luthin Cefreysdottir -> Luthin Cefrey?
Some gain names for themselves, self-bestowed or bestowed by reputation, based on aspects of themselves or their deeds that they're proud of or that give them fame: Nimoar "the Reaver", Ornar "of the Claw".
Most have surnames of some kind, some are portmanteaus: "Tenfeather", "Hornraven", "Windrivver", "Hathwinter", "Brightwood", "Lackman", "Stormwind", "Gnarlybone." This seems to be the most common form of surname. I'm entirely hypothesising, but Illuskan cultures value bravery and strength (particularly in battle) so I'd assume those are deed-names, possibly inherited from a famous ancestor?
Syllables: And, Bla, Bl, Br, Fr, G, Lan, Land, L, Mal, Malc, Sto, Tam, Am, Ama, Be, Beth, Ce, Keth, Mar, Ol, Sili, West, Wes, Or, Alas, Aga, Jaun, Von, Oj, Ost. Uth, Nash
Endings: M: -er, -ath, -ran, -eth, -uth, -der, -or, -an, -nar, -gar
Nasher, Oruth, Landgar, Ander, Vonor, Westran...
F: -frey, -tha, -ra, -ga, -tra, -da, -in, -ya
Agatha, Ojya, Malda, Stoya, Ceda, Luthin...
Canon common names: Masculine: Ander, Blath, Bran, Frath, Geth, Lander, Luth, Maler, Stor, Taman, Urth. Feminine: Amafrey, Betha, Cefrey, Kethra, Mara, Olga, Silifrey, Westra.
-
Rashemi (Gur)
The Gur still speak a variant of the proto-Rashemi tongue amongst themselves in private, so depending on how much they assimilate or not I imagine at least some of the names might be similar?
I can find even less about Rashemaar surnames than I can anyone else right now.
Surnames used by Rashemi are: Chergoba, Dyernina, Itazyara, Murnyethara, Stayanoga and Ulmokina. Names like that might be Gur tribe names?
Syllables: Fyev, Bori, Bor, Faur, Hulm, Hul, Jand, Jan, Im, Kanith, Kani, Kan, Madi, Mad, Nav, Madis, Ralm, Shau, Shaum, Vladis, Vlad, Dyna, Min, Tam, Yul
Endings: M: -vik, -gar, -ik, -ar, -islak, -ak, -evik, -insk
F: -arra, -mith, -ith, -zel, -el, -dra, -ra, -heir
Canon common names: Masculine: Borivik, Faurgar, Jandar, Kanithar, Madislak, Ralmevik, Shaumar, Vladislak. Feminine: Fyevarra, Hulmarra, Immith, Imzel, Navarra, Shevarra, Tammith, Yuldra,
#Today I worked out that Jaheira's name is Alzhedo in origin#Which is a bit obvious in hindsight#...“The Dark Urge yn Bhaal el Bhaal yi Barrens of Doom and Despair” is a legit name#...“Durge Bhaal Bhaal”#Me: “Maybe today I'll talk about how the afterlife works”#Brain: “Nah research fantasy names instead.”#Me: “OK”#lore stuff

Your OC's Personalities
Thank you for tagging me @ltleflrt!! I've been chomping at the bit not being able to do my usual WIP progress drops because of spoilers so this was nice and fun :D
Kassara Bhaal (Left) and Ryme'dra Ulutar (Right)
(I'm being good and limiting myself to only two OCs)
I'll tag @elinorbard @flamemittens @sleepytimegrrl @angelicfangirl @robinyourcreator @darkfeanix and anyone else who wants to gush about their Tavs/Durges/Rooks/etc
How would you describe Kassara's personality?
There's a few versions of Kass over time, but fundamentally regardless of where she is in her life, she's a powerfully loyal individual. Her devotion to Bhaal, her unwavering love for her brother Heron, her ability to forgive Orin again and again and again, her commitment to the Absolute plot because of her loyalty to Gortash even though she was very clearly losing faith in their chance of success prior to Orin's attack... Kass gives her everything to the people she cares about. Her loyalty defines her like nothing else does
What brings Kassara joy?
When she was younger (prior to Bhaal's resurrection) it was feeling wanted. Feeling needed. As a girl, that manifested in her desperation to get her and Heron adopted, and then her sex work, and then when she came into her heritage and embraced being a Bhaalspawn, she loved the heady mix of fear and desire that people felt for her. Many decades later, free of Bhaal's influence, it's her family that brings her joy which is to some extent an extension of the first joy. She loves being a mother.
What does Kassara strongly dislike?
Being controlled, being manipulated. As Bhaal begins to exert more of his control over her with time, and she loses periods of time and begins to lose her sense of self and bodily autonomy, it grows into fear.
She hates mint.
Is Kassara scared of anything?
She's scared of losing herself. She's scared of her Father. She's terrified of being alone, so the haunting visions of standing alone at the end of the world is truly her worst nightmare. She's terrified every time she comes back to herself and realises that her Father possessed her again and she's lost hours or days to his influence, not knowing what he's done with her body
What is Kassara's alignment
It moves like a metronome lmfao she's hard to pin down. As a young woman prior to Bhaal's resurrection, chaotic evil. Following Bhaal's resurrection, neutral evil. Following the start of BG3? She starts at True Neutral and starts to drift towards Chaotic/Neutral Good by the time she meets Torm and confronts Bane. Carmela is a really strong influence on people haha
How would you describe Ryme'dra's personality?
Thirteen hundred neuroses hiding in a trench coat pretending to be a woman. Sentient scar tissue. If C-PTSD could be a person.
Ryme'dra's personality is buried under so many layers of trauma and pain that it's hard to say. Her personality IS about survival and little else. Closed off. Bitter. Desperately lonely. Actively suicidal but trapped in the body of a race that reincarnates, so she can't escape even if she kills herself. There's a teensy tiny shred of a hopeless romantic inside of her, still clinging to life like a weed
What brings Ryme'dra joy?
Oh gods that's a hard one. I don't think it's too much of a spoiler at this point to say Gale. She genuinely does enjoy language and linguistics, because as she points out to Gale in the future - it's all well and good that spells like Comprehend Languages or Tongues exist, but only a tiny tiny fraction of the population have access to magic like that, and the rest of them have to learn to communicate the old fashioned way. She used to feel pride and contentment doing her work as a runesmith, but that's a long time in the past
She loves a good dark hot chocolate, the more sharp and bitter the chocolate the better. She's not really got a sweet tooth but she'll make an exception for the sweet bitterness of a dark hot chocolate
What does Ryme'dra strongly dislike?
Heat. People who assume that all drow are just slutty, highly-sexual priestess dominatrixes and brooding male warrior sex-slaves without any attempt to understand that the drow are a race of millions of people with vast differences in culture between cities that span the planet, and that the vast number of drow are just poor working class or slaves who live their lives without ever hurting anyone or ever having the opportunity to escape from their circumstances. Tooth-rottingly sweet desserts. Attention in general.
Is Ryme'dra scared of anything?
Lolth. Mephistopheles. Her own feelings. Getting other people hurt. Living forever while everyone around her dies and she has to keep living in ever increasing pain because she's some immortal dickhead's favourite chew toy again. Doctors and hospitals
What is Ryme'dra's alignment?
Probably True Neutral. She's hunkered down behind so many self preservation instincts. She'll perform truly evil acts if she thinks it will keep her safe, not because she's perversely driven to take life or hurt people. There's also arguably a nice and good person buried down inside somewhere but Rhyme keeps trying to kill her with a rock. For self preservation.

For anyone that has one or several Minecraft or MC: Dungeons OCs, if you had to describe your character using three items that they have, what would they be? You can do this with one character, or multiple, like I've done.
Hunter: Axe, Shield, Spyglass
Capri: Book of Unbreaking, Fern, Eye of Ender
Akira: Fishing Rod, Harp, Medallion
Neva: Potion of Regeneration, Potion of Poison, Potion of Frenzy
Gustav: Crossbow, Sweet Brew, Village Map
Roger: Crossbow, Iron Amulet, Illager Banner
Berna: Axe, Maulers, Goat Horn
Frode: Axe, Skull, Dungeon Key
Astrid: Totem of Undying, Silver Mirror, Rune Daggers
Ilmari: Totem of Protection, Echo Compass, Golden Feather
Part of Hunter’s reputation as the Grim Headsman comes from their Axe, which they use to behead their targets. On the surface, they may seem like nothing more than a relentless Mercenary, but at heart they're very cautious and rely heavily on the protection of their Shield. They also like to examine their prey using their Spyglass before engaging in a fight. Knowing the target makes it easier to defeat them.
Along with being stubborn as a mule, Capri's love of long-standing monuments of ages past fueled the writing of her enchantments, which is why as a Librarian she carried a Book of Unbreaking on her head. Her obsession also stemmed from her home civilization, a jungle village that was lost after she became a zombie. Her potted Fern served as a reminder of her past life. After she was cured, she studied eldritch symbols, which led her to the discovery of an Eye of Ender that was concealed in an old ruin.
Akira's Fishing Rod was essential to her work as an Angler. Every so often, she would travel to a coral reef where she caught fish and collected trinkets that she found in the water, then transported them to places where she could sell them. She also liked to play the Harp, a soothing instrument to match her carefree attitude. She never questioned the origins of the items she found on that reef, including a certain Medallion that held a power unlike anything she had ever witnessed.
Neva made her living as a healer, so she always had a Potion of Regeneration on hand. She was also a Witch, however, and her services came with a price. She would often use her patients as test subjects, incorpoating Potions of Poison and other dangerous substances into her treatments. Although the purposes of these experiments was unclear, some of them had useful results, such as the creation of the Potion of Frenzy, an invaluable resource on the battlefield.
Gustav's fatal flaw was that he firmly believed there was no situation he couldn’t get out of with just his wits and his Crossbow. His manipulative nature ensured that he had no friends amongst his fellow Pillagers, so he turned to sweet things, like Sweet Brew, to comfort himself. He used these tactics to avoid as much responsibility as possible, but despite this, he was still often consulted as a strategist. When he planned for a raid, he would draw out Village Maps with concerning accuracy to detail.
As a Pillager, Roger was issued his own Crossbow, which he only used when he believed it was absolutely necessary to do so. His actions were primarily driven by his devotion to his tribe and his faith, which was why he always wore an Iron Amulet around his neck. His loyalty and resolve earned him the right to carry an Illager Banner as he was appointed to be the captain of his patrol.
Berna considered herself a peak Vindicator specimen, and she weilded her Axe with tremendous strength and pride. She also felt a strong connection with her long line of warrior ancestors, some of whom wore claw-like Maulers, the same ones she wore. Wherever she went, her indomitable stature and powerful voice inspired her comrades and terrified her enemies. Her Goat Horn amplified her presence along with the might of her tribe whenever they charged into battle.
Frode swung his Axe maniacally whenever he chased his victims down the corridors of his dungeon of torment. His methods as a torturer were particularly cruel, even for a Vindicator, and he was often seen admiring tokens of agony, such as the Skulls of past inmates. Even when he delighted in letting his prisoners believe they could escape, none of them could without first confronting him and obtaining his Dungeon Key.
Every Evoker has a backup plan, which is why Atrid always carried a Totem of Undying on her person. She would also gladly sacrifice the needs of others for her own ambitions, and was obsessed with her own beauty and privilege as chief of her mansion. Whenever she was alone, she would admire herself in her Silver Mirror. Her thirst for power even surpassed her sense of honor, to the point that she secretly had a set of Rune Daggers custom made for her. Daggers are considered by many to be the weapons of cowards.
For particularly dire situations, Ilmari kept a Totem of Protection to defend himself and any colleagues that joined the Evoker on his scholarly expeditions. He found it during his mission to explore the ruins of an ancient civilization deep underground, which is also how he came to be in the possession of an Echo Compass, which pointed towards items of tremendous power. He dedicated himself to the collection of these items, until one day he found a Golden Feather, a wondrous artifact whose origin had been lost to time. His new project became finding where it came from.
---
I was genuinely shocked by how rewarding it was to write answers to this prompt, so I strongly encourage you to give it a try. You might discover things you feel your character was missing, or expand on things that weren't very thought out before. If not, it's at least a decent conversation starter.
