Tools she invented to help us combat the Death Road. One swing shuts down any Monokuma/Zetsubou related technology, including the Exisal’s.

Which means if the lab uses the same technology as Zetsubou tends to use, it could work!

Kuripa and I did our own little investigation into the lab, and tried to figure out a few things...how old it is, when it was built, who built it...etc...

We discovered two things because of it.

And those are...what exactly?

For one thing...we’ve figured out exactly why our attempts at communication and hacking haven’t been able to get through to the lab.

Isn’t it because of the AI put in place?

Well, yes, it is...but there’s more to it than we thought.

I realized that if we were going to have any chance at countering it, I’d have to strike at the AI directly...but that’s when I noticed something.

...What?

When I tried hacking into the AI system...it seemed to actively try and avoid my attempts.

And not in any set pattern either. Like, it saw what I was doing, and did anything it could to shut me down while keeping the door’s closed.

One AI program is capable of doing all of that? How?

Well, we came to a conclusion...We’re not just dealing with any sort of AI.

That lab is being protected...by an Alter Ego.

An Alter Ego!?

Uh...Isn’t that that computer version of Mr Fujisaki? Or are you guys talking about something else?

It’s the term we use to refer to strong AI that can think and act like humans. Chihiro’s Alter Ego is one, but so are Chiaki and Sora

So...the AI protecting the lab is strong AND conscious...

Could it be Junko Enoshima’s AI?

No, I doubt it. This is the only notable institute for miles away.

Junko Enoshima’s AI has to be within relatively close proximity to Yukari Koime. If she’s not, they risk mentally, and LITERALLY in the AI’s case, shutting down.

That Koime’s got one hell of a condition.

To be honest...the thought of her brain shutting down...her eyes rolling back in her head...blood pouring from the orifices...It’s what helps me sleep at night...

But...Who? In order to make a lab with this much in-built tech, and on this big a scale, you’d have to have power and money equal to that of an institute like the Future Foundation or Kisaragi Foundation.

Nope. Rantaro and I came to another conclusion though. Zetsubou didn’t wipe out whoever owned this lab before they took it over. Apparently, it’s been abandoned for a long time.

With all the resources they put into this place, it’s amazing they just...left it. Are you sure you’ve got your facts right?

Even if you don’t trust my calculations, trust his. We were actually able to determine a near exact year date of when this place was built.

We determined that this place finished construction in early 2011.

So it’s been around for well over 10 years.

Ok then, let's go with Setsuka. I have no motivation for drawing or anything right now so just some facts and lore!

It is no secret that Setsuka and Sakura hate eachother and got into magic duels that end up further pissing the council off. (And they were already mad about the timeloops Sakura caused.)

Throughout the Death Loops arc, it's a mystery as to who tampered with Sakura's portal and made her get sent into the future. In Rei arc, it's revealed it was Setsuka who did it out of jealousy to get rid of the competition.

Sakura and Setsuka will never truly be 'friends', but they eventually come to be on more neutral terms with eachother.

This is especially after Setsuka finds out about the rumors being spread about Sakura by her ex are NOT true, and also when Narancia saves her from a near death experience instead of finishing her off in a fight or running away for his own safety. Feeling she owes them a favor, she made two concoctions for them to use in the fight against Fernande. One potion to cause an electric wave, one to cause a poison fog.

Setsuka is master rank and specializes in potions and alchemy.

She's friends with Fernande and makes up with her after the big fight.

She joins the others in the Jade arc against the fight against the council.

She loses her eye to Giglio, Witch of Despair, Council 3rd Seat.

Gay for Midori.

She never personally met Mareike but she fears her.

Bonus fact about Mareike herself! Mareike was originally going to be a council member, but died before it could happen, hence why she's so damn powerful and her name brings fear to many mages.

Given that she worked with the government very often, she was aware. She's not sure if she's unsettled or curious as she enters the room with Setsuka. This was something new, and even if she couldn't forget if she wanted to, she would be certainly be taking apart this memory later.

Setsuka had no control over the clearance process, it was standard with the government and these types of prisoners. Once the two were clear they approach the building and are ushered past the metal doors. What followed looked like a scene from a horror film as the dreary gray saturated everything it touched. This wasn't a typical Japanese prison; it was something much different.
