I have been working really hard on this piece since May, and it's finally done!!! The most characters I've ever had in one art piece but HEY! I did it!!!

Consider this the cover for The Best Laid Plans, my ff7 Rufus x OC fan fic, but as you can see it's so much more than that one ship, with a mix of canon characters and OCs!

Rigel: Hi pa!

Ok so remember when I said I wanted to do something that involved the Timephoon episode being its base? Here it is! Rigel is one of the many guys who end up getting blinked forward in time. Much to Toras distraught. Because this is the same Rigel who was sick and Tora wasn't able to get time off to take care of him. He feels like he's being punished because he knows that Rigel can't stay in the future. He has to go back and Tora will never get to see him again after *sobs*

Baby boy baby!

Rigel: where are you from?

Della: oh you'll LOVE this. I'm from the MOON!

Rigel: the moon!?

Della: yeah! Awesome right!?

Rigel: PA! THE PRETTY MOON LADY YOU TALKED ABOUT IS REAL!

Della: wait what-?

What's a better way to be called out than by a child who has no clue what's going on?

Took a while but here it is! Not sure how canon it is, this feels more like an au where Rigel is specifically used as a weapon and not just used to fight for entertainment, but I think it works either way! :)

“Why do you care so much about him? He’s nothing but a tool, a weapon.” Cordelia’s voice was cold, but there was a hint of a smirk on her lips. The look of someone who was so sure they had the upper hand.

Caretaker’s eyes went between them and Spencer who had an almost blank look on his face. A little hesitant, perhaps, but no sign of defiance or recognition. But he wasn't gone! Caretaker just couldn't believe that! “No, you- you’re wrong! He’s so much more than that! I can prove that to him, to you! I can fix… I can help him!”

Cordelia's smirk grew. “Perhaps you can. But not soon enough, I think.” she turned to Rigel. “Rigel, eliminate the enemy.” 

Caretaker could only watch in horror as they watched their friend’s eyes glaze over and begin to walk towards them. Despite being so sure that they were right about Spencer still being in there, they were scared. They had seen what he was capable of.  “Spencer, please y- you don't have to do this.” They pleaded in a shaky voice, eyes wide as they were glued to Spencer.

Cordelia laughed. “Not so sure about your friend anymore?” She mocked.

Caretaker didn't dignify that with a reply, they were too caught up with Spencer. “Spencer, please,” They begged, but there was no sign of recognition in Spencer's eyes. Right now, only the weapon, only Rigel, was present, perfectly obedient. Hurting Spencer was the last thing they wanted to do, but they knew they didn't have a choice. They had to defend themselves. And even though they tried, it hurt when their friend threw the first punch.

Obedience

Febuwhump DAY 4: obedience

This takes place fairly early in Rigel’s story, when Spencer is starting to crack.

The sharp edges of the bottle caps dug into Spencer's knees. The pain was sharp, but far from the worst he’d endured at Cordelia’s hands, the cuts and bruises still ached through his tired body. Though she had promised she wouldn't hurt him tonight or anytime soon or if he just proved he could be obedient. Be good. That didn't seem as awful to him as it once had, so that's why Spencer found himself kneeling on bottle caps next to her by the table while she ate dinner. It smelled so good and Spencer’s stomach clenched painfully, he’d not had anything to eat for several days and he hoped Cordelia would give him some if she was happy with him. That was worth a bit of pain.

Suddenly Cordelia’s fingers brushed through his hair and Spencer managed not to flinch. He was so used to painful physical contact from her, but this actually felt kind of… nice. Just a short while ago, Spencer would've never admitted that to himself, but it was nice. A bit soothing, actually. Spencer leaned against her a little, surely that would make her happy?

“It’s nice to see you behaving, for once.” Cordelia said, voice soft as she carded her fingers through Spencer's hair. “Let’s see if you can be even better… Tell me, what’s your name?”

Spencer tensed slightly and held his breath for a moment. Going along with this ‘challenge’ or whatever she wanted to call it was one thing, but giving up his name felt worse somehow. Like giving up too big of a piece of himself. But then again, if he could avoid pain, and maybe get something to eat… he was so tired and so hungry… Saying what she wanted to hear didn't mean he had to forget his name, and who he really was, right?  

“Rigel,” he said, then his eyes widened as he realized he forgot something and hurriedly added. “Miss.”

A smile curved Cordelia’s lips. “Good. You're learning. ”

Spencer relaxed a little. This was good, right? She sounded pleased. He watched as Cordelia grabbed something from the table, and his eyes widened when he realized she had grabbed a piece of bread and was handing it to him. 

“You’ve earned this, and if you stay on this good behavior, you can get more later.”

“Thank you… miss!” Spencer smiled and grabbed the slice of bread. It didn't seem like anything that special, but given how hungry it was, it tasted amazing and Spencer savored each and every bite.
