The premise of this is him building a communicator that can receive and send messages out of spare parts.

college yagi and rie, they didn't know eachother very well at UA (she was in the business course) but the only interaction he did have with her was her terrorizing him for an interview for the school paper.

they coincidentally go to the same college and are both in the US but rie is married, they become friends and eventually lose contact when toshinori goes back home to japan. rie comes back about two years before his accident after she divorces her husband
