Omg hello!! Thank you so much for asking about Jun, and thank you for liking my art! I'll do my best not to answer too long 💕

Jun comes from the clan Tenshikiri, a clan that's rigorously trained in reading subtle social cues and body language, making them capable of knowing if someone is lying or not. Their talents earned them a seat as the Emperor's Spymaster during feudal Japan, replacing the previous Spymaster, the Kagehane clan.

The Tenshikiri love collecting secrets, and in a way, they become the secret keepers for Liu Kang. For generations, they have become allies with the Lin Kuei and the Shirai, whose clans have their own purpose in the current timeline, with the Lin Kuei as the militaristic defense of Earthrealm, and the Shirai as public relations with the Outworld Empire.

To represent their clans and foster their alliances, the Tenshikiri, the Lin Kuei, and the Shirai hold an annual meeting in the Tenshikiri's estate. This is how Jun befriends young Bi-Han, Kuai Liang, and Harumi; with a hope that the future leaders of respective clans would continue the tradition for another generation.

Sadly, not everything works out smoothly. When Jun is 7, the Kagehane return with a centuries old vendetta, and ambush the Tenshikiri's main house. Thankfully, the Lin Kuei and the Shirai are staying in the area, and though they manage to kill and chase most of the Kagehane away, the Tenshikiri's small number has been outmatched. The attack leaves only Jun and three guardians as survivors.

The Shirai fear that the Kagehane won't stop until every last Tenshikiri is dead. Thus, the Lin Kuei offer to take Jun to Arctika, where she will be kept safe, trained, and educated so she can return and rebuild her clan one day. And so Jun stays with the Lin Kuei, training and growing up with Bi-Han, Kuai Liang, and eventually their adoptive brother, Tomas.

Originally when i wrote the draft of the fic, i wanted to write about Bi-Han and his younger days growing up in the Lin Kuei, but i added Jun to bridge the gap between him and the readers. Then it grew, so i decided to make Jun officially an OC 😂

Her relationship with Bi-Han doesn't begin as romantically as expected, however, as the firstborns of their clans, they share similar responsibilities (and burden), so they bond easily. Jun supports Bi-Han and his goal in every way, the same way Bi-Han also supports Jun to restore her clan.

For her voice claim, i'm thinking she sounds like Toda Mariko from Shōgun.

hes a copycat and not a regular ghostface because,,, there already is a ghostface in his story!! and he does NOT want a kill buddy. it may or may not be a canon ghostface from a silly murder game...

he was severely neglected as a young kid and was the first generation who was raised with the internet, the early internet's lack of moderation didnt do him any favors so he got exposed to things like gore very early on. due to the neglect he wasnt raised well and so he may have some twisted morals.

he is NOT based on the murderer of jun lin, that is a huge coincidence. the ice pick weapon was from another slasher OC and the backstory is that way because I found it fitting and a tad bit relatable!!! I found out about the case WAY later on!! my condolences go to everyone involved in that sick case.

He's calm and peaceful as his mother, he don't like fighting and quarrels, and he tries to avoid them as much as he can. However, he loves justice like his father. Also note, I have two oc universes one where it's just the world no fun or magic, and another where everyone has powers based on family line curses!!

Sydney Salts!! (she/her) She has a bajillion different haircuts, all done poorly in her bedroom late at night. I primarily draw angst of her because her story is very sad. She struggles feeling emotions for other people and it always hurts those around her, but she can't do anything about it. It's just apology after apology, empty room after empty room. But on her fun days she's super punk and all her clothes is made of hand me downs and trash!! Shes really into classical music and folk punk. She plays banjo, piano, synth, and guitar primarily. Sydney is SUPER FUCKING LOUD!!!! AND VERY IMPULSIVE. Notable things she has done

-gave herself an undercut with a man scaping tool

-tied her laces so tied her feet lost circulation for many hours

-chipped a young teen's tooth accidentally in the pit

-peed herself while playing hide n seek in an abandoned building cause she thought she saw a ghost

Also Sydney's power is super Hella OP. She can rearrange molecules of any connected object (including just like terrforming earth's crust if she connects to it) but it takes alot of strength and focus. Her family was cursed to be one with the earth, it started with them after a certain number of years of living they would start merging with the ground they stood on and become dirt but it's changed alot over the centuries. Sydney naturally couldn't focus her ability, but her mother worked as a power prosehtic designer and created brain plugs so she could directly connect with the objects she wants to manipulate.

Jun Kwak (he/she), Jun is my comfort oc and so I have not given her any life problems. She has it made. She's childhood friends with Meilin, since they both lived in a rich neighborhood. Since then Jun's family started having buisness problems and they moved to the ocean side to live a simpler life. Jun loves fishing, it's sweet and calm and let's him sit in peace. His plan is to build a tackle & bait store one day and spend the rest of his years on the beach. This isn't gonna work out cause plot but it's nice for now :) Jun is just a very chill and emotional but likes to goof on occasion.

Jun's family curse was to have an irresistible aroma. Jun though only produces a very subtle scent, which becomes more active in water. He mainly uses it to attract fish. The aroma he produces is affected by his health and mood so when really healthy or really during intense emotion it can affect people on land.

Mei Lin Qin (she/they) Mei Lin is very angry and very emotive. She grew up in a family who cared and loved eachother but did awful things to others. They stepped on the rest of the world to become more and more powerful. She wanted nothing to do with that so her family let her pursue her own career but blah blah plot stuff comes in. Mei Lin was super in love with Sydney but it wasn't healthy and they end up on polite acquaintance term for years. Eventually they grow and develop something of a QPR where they were both happy. Mei Lin is a gamer girl, but she only plays the most evil competitive FPS games. It fuels the menace inside her. Her and Julian have a strong friendship based on both being haters.

Her long ago ancestor was King Midas, which led her family to suffer but eventually prosper from the gold they could create. Since then the market has been overflown with gold so it's not longer so beloved. Still Meilin can produce gold as just excess on her body. Her nails are solid gold (she has a special procedure to cut it), she has natural gold in her hair, and she is very sparkly since she has gold in her pores (just trust me it works shh)

There are characters in Jun, Julian, Sydney And Mei lin's universe such as Alice (Sydney's ex and Julian's art bestie) and Aniel (a high fashion girl who took dance with Jun and Meilin as kids and they just keep running into) but I don't have much on them :P

This is Taylor (he/him) (black haired ghost loving incel) and Alec (any) (angry alien who acts like he knows human culture better than humans) they only exist in the non magic universe. Their whole thing is Taylor and Alec hate eachother through Cartoonishly shenanigans but fall in their own strange form of love. Taylor is really into ghost hunting and being inside all day on his pc setup. Alec is on earth for a personal vacation but is stranded cause he is very incompetent and also an asshole so nobody came after him. It's fun n goofy :] anytime I draw em I don't do them justice so there is little dooble.

Finally Julian Salts (he/him) , I put him last cause he's always the favorite on art fight, to my friends, and to myself. Hes angry and bitter about everything and guess what! It's your problem! Cause he's gonna bitch and moan!!! Hes super pretentious - nobody understands me - kind of artist and his perfered medium is clay sculpting. He acts all mad but he actually adores his sister (Sydney), boyfriend (Jun), and friends (Meilin and Alice) so much and that's what he usually scultps after. He only wears long skirts and sweaters with slight variation. He always has ram horns in the human and non human world. I feel like he'd look weird without them. No explanation it's just how it is. He also worked in customer service for like three months and blames that one why he's so grouchy but he was very much born this way.

His cursed family was just making them goats. Nobody knew his family was human before until the curse started dying out and the babies turned into human goat hybrids. His mom had a bad mutation and ended up dying soon after Julian's birth because of this. Julian is mostly human but he has hairy fricking legs and get scared like a sheep. His head is super tough too and his loved ones just throw shit at him because they know he can take it (he doesn't mind but acts like he does). His dad is totally human but also a dick so Julian is adopted by Sydney's family. He loves his life but will never admit it.

• make it a TRUE role reversal. What would Hua Cheng (Hong Hong-er) do in Dianxia Xie Lian's place? What would Xie Lian do in little Hong Hong-er's?

• role swap EVERYONE. BUT don't do the obvious. because i have seen the obvious, and i am quite annoying in finding a new way to do this. for example, instead of switching shi qingxuan and he xuan, switch shi wudu, shi qingxuan and he xuan with pei ming, pei siu and ban yue. why? cause it's interesting. and i like it.

• make it hualesbians because i am a useless lesbian and also just like lesbians. but don't just gender swap, make that fact effect the story, since sexism is canon in tgcf. think ling wen.

• also ngl, im in the works of this. i just don't have a beta reader and i kind of feel bad but tbh I just like writing

• don't make it blow for blow, but def follow some stuff. because like, this whole series carved out my heart. i just now want to throw a bunch of "what if's" at it because it's funny and i think i need to stop re-writing classical literature as lesbian (so far, my list is: the great gatsby, lord of the flies, the count of monte cristo, of mice and men, a christmas carol and a few others)

003 | Give me a character & I will tell you:

How I feel about this character: There's no combination of words that could do justice to how much I love her. She deserves all the love, happiness and laughter the world has to offer.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: In no particular order- Tenzin, Bumi, Mako, Iroh II, lately I've dipped in my toes in Lighting Bolt Zolt. I like to dawdle in some Izumi and Kya- but that's just me passively consuming really attractive media. I also love @superliz6's OC Kazuo and @amiraelizabeth's OC Tai Jun. I think they're really well developed. I think I'm forced to say that I also ship her with my own OC, Zekou, but more on that later lol. I'm also developing a new crack-ship for her with Zaheer and Bataar Sr. (don't come for me please just let me have fun).

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: I absolutely adore the idea Lin & Mako having a great friendship. I would've loved to see (in entirely platonic sense), how their relationship developed: they have the potential for a great dynamic. I also like Lin and Tenzin's relationship (although the tension between them was driving me crazy).

My unpopular opinion about this character: There's a lot of discord amongst the fandom regarding Lin's sexuality: that she's straight, or a comphet lesbian, or bisexual, or pan, or whatever else. I feel like a character's sexuality needn't be defined because: to define is to limit. And with the kinda complex character that Lin is, it's a pity that we want to put her in this box and play when there's so much more you can explore about her. Screw the label, ship her with whoever you want and have fun. And of course, it's totally okay to have and express your own headcanons, but don't forget that one's sexuality is just one facet of a person/character, and to fixate entirely on that makes me feel rather uncomfortable. She isn't just some sort of pioneer for social justice and/or representation. What I'm trying to say is: Lin Beifong is more than just her sexuality.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish she had a happy ending in the form of "consolation". The whole show was spent pushing her way out of her comfort zone, whether it's interacting with her ex and his family, or a sister that scarred her, or her absent mother- give the woman a break! She does so much for everyone and at the cost of her sanity. At least give her some kind of happily ever after. What the hell, canon? Brb calling FairyGodmother.

Favorite friendship for this character: Mako and Bumi lmao. I think they're the kinda besties that would never admit to being besties. I like to think they're her confidants for different aspects of life. And maybe Bataar Sr. for post canon- where they have sweet friendship- exchanging just a few words and having each others' backs around an overbearing Suyin.
