if kaycee were to be obsessed with mags i fully believe that it would be because of how broken the mox system is. shes drawn to leshy cus his is very broken + hes the first to take control of the game.

mags would fuck with her/her body by offering to change her to be a more "desirable" body methinks. fucked up girl boy thing wants no tits? you got it.

i think he goes along with her body augmentation in the game and on her avatar, until she dies and he possibly drags her in the game?? idk. mags then continues the augmentation as she continues to improve his mox system. i think he values her more because she can actually improve and understand the cards better than his actual pupils, maybe he even axes the idea of a trial for her because she's so good. or perhaps her trial is similar to james' in that she has to go under hundreds upon thousands of changes to her body, experiments to see the limits of mag's own powers.

oohhh my god i love Magnificus offering his power to essentially give her a character creator because seeing what she does to herself in Leshy's domain, she 100% would jump at the chance to give herself magickal augmentation to hilariously stupid degrees, especially if its to herself and not just her avatar

i think mags would be the type to agree that one of higher power has the right to look the part but.. she can be a bit much

regardless, she probably undergoes augmentation for purposes other than aesthetics, to test his own powers like you said but to also help expand her mind and help her get some sort of divine inspiration for further additions to their game..

im not too sure on specific interactions, but Misery's usual M.O. is to make people feel miserable (ha) via her keen eye for a person's inner guilt/nightmares/etc (she claims she can literally smell it - but no one can confirm something like that). I truly believe that Kaycee started the fire out of a temporary bout of insanity. She's been sleep-deprived, driven to several mental breakdowns and is fully aware that she "knows far too much" in the sense that her employer is going to respond...not so favorably. She's probably been harassed by Kaminski through phone calls.

She hasn't answered the texts or emails from her fellow devs out of sheer paranoia that they want to hurt her. I'm pretty sure even "Amanda" is involved in this, though I haven't thought of how. Kaycee feels backed into a corner with no way out...but she knows they can't have this disc back. Buries it in the woods, the coordinates on a card in a resealed pack (in my headcanon, given to her unsuspecting younger sister), then went to work as normal.

Whether it was Kaminski or another Dev sent by Kaminski to corner Kaycee after work to retrieve the disc (I like the latter with the idea that this dev and kaycee were once very close). She's tired. She's not in her right mind. She knows that this will not end well. How she started the fire, I'm unsure, but I'm convinced she did. Whoever is cornering her, throughly disturbed by her response, flees to not get trapped in the fire.

Kaycee comes into clarity, realizing what she did. Somebody made sure that she couldn't get out of her cubicle, and even if she could, the fire is now too great. She knows she's trapped. She knows this...but she hopes that the disc, that Leshy remains safe, and that nobody EVER sees what's hidden beneath the surface of Inscryption.

(As for the headcanon of Kaycee having a younger sibling- the thought of her having a little sister who she did care about, but still gave her the coordinates to the disc unknowingly was very fun for me to play with, especially with the multi chaptered story I'm working on. The sister never opened the card packs, mainly out of grief and anger for losing her older sibling at the place where she worked and not even wanting to LOOK at the cards, but still hanging onto it as a last memory of Kaycee. Time goes by, she kept the card packs in her bedroom and went off to college, soon moving out of the house. Her mother is cleaning out the rooms for a garage sale, sees the card packs and seeing that it was a painful memory of her eldest daughter, threw them into the garage sale and not even caring what she was paid for them....

And in comes Luke Fucking Carder, Kaycee's sister unknowingly passing her torch of burden to a guy who once won against Kaycee in a game years before.)

I've been getting Inscyrption brainworms lately, to the point where I wanna come up with my own oc for the game. Of course, the question is whether I make them an in game character, within the world of Inscryption, like one of Magnificus' students, or would they be an out of game oc, like a writer for GameFuna, and one of Kaycee's coworkers? Hmmm...

to a degree i actually like her changing eye color! i think her being able to it as vibrant and spontaneous as leshy is probably.. i dunno, 'too cool' of a power she would have IMO. even if she's turning into a beast by supernatural means i dont necessarily like her having Magic yknow?

BUT i did incorporate her changing eye color in the lil comic i made of her! this is one of the few times i actually give color to her irises. her natural eye color not pictured here is brown (which i usually color black stylistically), but as she turns into a leshy her irises lightened to orange, and they change hue based off of emotion LOL

redder if she's angy, pinker if shes blushy :)

basically she cant change them on purpose, she probably isnt even aware they are changing at all. but she'd totally think its awesome and feel badass.

LOG 1

Today I finally get to do something meaningful with this company. From the day they hired me, all I got to do was bug hunt and playtest weird games from franchises that no one has even heard of.

I know that I’m not the most experienced coder out there, but come on! I can do so much more than what they’re letting me.

Anyways, they’re letting me work on this new project. Inscription, I believe it’s called? I know virtually nothing about it. But hey. I’m sure It’l be more fun than reporting glitches all day.

LOG 2

It’s been a day or two since I started working on Inscryption, and I have to admit: it seems promising. I mean, how many virtual card games are out there? At least it’s not an UNO clone.

I’ve only done small things so far like making sure that certain animations display properly. It’s another 2D game, just like GameFuna’s previous works, but it looks like some 3D stuff will be implemented later on, which is cool.

I’m considering poking around the files when I get the chance. Wonder what other neat stuff I can find in here before it’s inevitably left on the cutting room floor.

LOG 3

So, I was looking through some folders when I found this file that looked out of place. It was labelled as ‘OL_CARD.zip’, so I decided to unzip it. What I got was a single exe file that did nothing when opened. Must’ve been a card placeholder or something?

Anyways, I left it alone because the last thing I want is some higher-up getting mad at me for ‘tampering with the game.’ Besides. I kinda want to look into it some more.

Now all I gotta do is find it. Call me crazy, but it’s not in the folder I last saw it in. I swear, I’m gonna be seriously angry if this is some virus.

I still don’t know what’s going on, but when I booted up Inscryption, there was this red mass of pixels right outside Leshy’s cabin. I tried interacting with it, and a text box full of gibberish showed up.

I decided to ignore it and check up on the scrybe, and I found that Leshy seemed…off. His personality still isn’t very fleshed out, but he seemed to be on edge. The other NPCs in the area were, too. That’s when I shut off the game.

But that damn red thing was on my desktop now. It couldn’t open a text box with Inscryption closed, so it opened Notepad instead. Let me copy and paste what it said.

I wish I was making this up. Is this some kind of advanced AI? If so, why are they keeping it hidden in this random-freaking file tucked away in the back of a card game?

I have so many questions. And a part of me wants to ask this thing for answers.

Out of every single employee, I’m the one who gets the haunted game. Seems about right considering my luck.

Well, I’m not sure if this thing is a ghost or not. I’ve been talking to ‘Olcard’ by adding text into the code, and it’s been responding with those bugged text boxes. At least it’s getting better at using them.

Whatever it is, it’s really curious about the game and its development. I’ve asked my fellow coders if anything similar is happening to them, and they all give me weird looks. I’m half expecting to wake up any minute now.

I’ve finished up Leshy’s area and I’m working on Grimora’s next. Olcard gave me some good tips when I got stuck, so I think keeping him around a little while longer wouldn’t hurt anyone.
