"Miss Fjola, are you busy at the moment?"

"Not particularly", Fjola was lounging on the couch. "Why?"

"Would you care to accompany me to the beach? I'm still conducting tests on haptic feedback and Ekiki is unavailable at the moment."

"Certainly", Fjola sat up. "I'd be glad to help."

Bluebird, with Fjola in tow, went about her usual business on the beach. She walked on the hot sands, observed the sea birds and the both of them played in the water for a bit. It was as normal, though Fjola couldn't help but notice Bluebird seemed somewhat unenthused.

"Are you...all right, Bluebird? You seem...for the lack of a better word, sad."

"...I do not wish to sound offensive or blunt", she was poking at a hermit crab. "But it seems the beach is much more amusing when Ekiki is present."

"Ah", Fjola smiled knowingly. "I see."

"Miss Fjola has partaken in all the same activities, yet", she tilted her head, lost in thought. "it is as if some unknown factor is missing."

"It's quite simple, really", Fjola pat Bluebird on the back. "You like Ekiki."

"...Like? Are you implying the presence of...romantic interest between us, miss Fjola? I am obligated to remind you that this unit is still somewhat unable to experience such emotions."

"I sincerely doubt that", Fjola laughed. "But...you should be able to easily test that, right? Next time when Ekiki is around."

"...Once again, miss Fjola's statements are not entirely without logic. It is possible my programming has already evolved to be able to experience...emotional responses. How curious."

"And I know for a fact Ekiki certainly likes you. She talks about you a lot. I don't understand most of it, to be honest, but she's always so passionate about the intricacies of your body, and your optimal performance and whatnot."

"...Truly?"

"Mhm."

"...The concern for my wellbeing is ultimately unnecessary", Bluebird watched the crab scuttle away. "But appreciated regardless."

I was playing World Tour and for some reason I never really put too much thought into my Avatar's voice, and who the ENG VA was.

And it got me thinking about the other Avatar's voices that made an appearance, and who they were. Surprisingly, I have heard the Eng VAs in different medias before.

FFXIV Write 2023- Prompt #16: Jerk

"So", Fjola poured herself a fifth drink and put the bottle away in the cabinet. She was alone with Bluebird, as Ekiki had left when she got a sudden notification from a merchant she was going to meet, and Nebula had already gone to sleep. "You're some kind of Allagan machine?"

"Affirmative", Bluebird replied. "Would you like to hear a comprehensive explanation about my specifications?"

"No, thank you. I doubt I'd understand any of it. Though, I have seen my fair share of Allagan automatons", she sipped her drink. "You seem...Special, somehow."

"Thank you. That is factually correct; I am far more advanced than any other android model."

"...May I", Fjola coyly circled the edge of her glass with her finger. "Might I touch your skin? I-I'm just curious."

"By all means."

"Wow", Fjola brushed her hand against Bluebird's cheeks and arms, occasionally giving her a soft poke with her finger. "It feels...real but also...artificial at the same time! How curious..."

"Highly advanced materials were used to create a lifelike, yet durable surface covering."

"It's certainly impressive", Fjola's hands continued to wander. "Can you...feel?"

"Yes. Synthetic skin and muscle fibers are woven with haptic receptors, which allow me to- Eek!" Fjola's hand happened to brush against Bluebird's lower back, which gave her hips a sudden jerk. "...It appears said receptors have partially malfunctioned and are hypersensitive in certain areas. Apologies."

"...I've never heard a machine make that kind of sound", Fjola giggled and poked her back softly again. "Cute."

"Ah! Please", Bluebird backed away and covered herself with her hands. "Please refrain from touching sensitive areas! Sensory overload can disrupt cognitive and motor functions..."

"That sounds dangerous", Fjola walked over to the couch and sat down, patting her thighs. "Maybe we should chart out your sensitive areas so we can fix them later."

"...I believe miss Fjola might be terribly intoxicated", Bluebird reluctantly walked over and sat on her lap. "But your statement is not without logic."

"Miss Fjola gets a little handsy when she's drunk. How about we use a scale of one to ten", Fjola laughed and rubbed her hands up Bluebird's shins and thighs. "Feel anything out of the ordinary?"

"Two. No abnormalities."

"All right", she continued up her belly and sides. "Here?"

"Seven..!" Again, Bluebird twitched suddenly. "Flagged for adjustments."

"And how about here..?" Fjola playfully squeezed her chest, completely lost in the spirits at this point. "...Shquishy and shoft!"

"Five...Within acceptable bounds."

"Nom" Fjola softly bit Bluebird's neck, which made her entire body stiffen up for a brief moment. "Oh my."

"T...ten" Her power supply was humming loudly. "Flagged for immediate adjustment."

"All right, I'm back with the new memory bank for-" Ekiki entered through the door, back from her mercantile dealings. "...I leave for half a bell. And you're groping the ancient android."

"Please do not misunderstand, Ekiki. Miss Fjola is helping me flag malfunctioning haptic receptors for adjustment."

"Yeah", Fjola let out a silly, drunken laugh. "It's just...haptic...s."

"...Uh-huh", Ekiki glowered at Fjola. "You're drunk, how about you go to bed and I get to work on installing this new memory for Bluebird?"

"Boo, okay...", Fjola flopped over on the couch and hugged a pillow. "As if you wouldn't want to grope a cute robot girl..."

"Yeah, yeah, fall asleep already. Sheesh."

1, 2, 8, 11, 12, 16, 18, and 20?

I've got a pretty expansive universe I've been building with four (for now) different stories in it, but I'll focus on Cawdyssey which is the last of the four in the timeline and the one I've been working on most lately.

1.) how would you describe the world your story takes place in?

Cawdyssey is set a few thousand years after the "Bad End" for humanity. The descendants of various genetically engineered birds (the main characters being a raven descendant, a crow descendant, a hybridized parrot descendant, a starling descendant, and a pigeon descendant) have begun to create their own civilizations in the world that was left behind. Some of the avian descendants have begun to try and solve the mysteries of the ruins, others just try to survive. Each species has their own civilizations, some more unknowingly influenced by the human predecessors than others. Many other descendants of genetically engineered creatures live on this earth, some being more hostile to the avian descendants than others.

In the ocean, a much more mysterious civilization awaits contact with the surface world.

2.) if you gave an in depth description of your story to someone who was not all the way paying attention, what would their takeaway be?

Oh, so it's Lord of the Rings but with birds and no magic? And something to do with an octopus?

8.) what inspired your world building, if anything?

Most of my world building for Cawdyssey comes from interactions that happen between the different species of birds (save for the parrots which I had to kind of fudge a little bit interaction-wise since they are a hybrid species). The Raven and Crow societies DO NOT get along, the Starlings have a very loose structure in their hierarchy, and the Pigeons are overlooked because, unlike the Ravens, Crows, Starlings, and Parrots, they don't have the ability to mimic and so they don't speak the "Merchant Language" that the other species speak. The predation of the pigeons by the ravens is inspired by a time I witnessed a raven take out a pigeon in mid-air and was reminded that they can be formidable hunters when they want to.

11.) give a general summary of the plot/world/characters.

Cawdyssey follows Kora (a raven descendant), Brach (a crow descendant). Volga (a starling descendant, called the Star-Folk in the Merchant language), Ari (a parrot descendant), and Liv (a pigeon descendant) as they each receive a message in their dreams urging them to go to the ocean and prove that the sender is not alone. Along the way, Kora grapples with the multitude lies they were told, Brach gains more self confidence and they and Kora work to try to create a bridge between their species, Volga embraces his love of stories and song and flowers in spite of his role in his society, Ari becomes kinder and more open minded to other birds' experiences (and gets one hell of a reality check at the end), and Liv finds new family after his was horrifically ripped from him during a hunt that Kora's family led. They travel the continent, following the sun and exploring the world that the Ones Before left behind - and in time find the two Lost Ones - the Long Tails and the Loud Ones (Magpies and Chickens). There is also an octopus.

Ari would get canceled on tumblr for her takes on the Red Breasts (American Robins), the pigeons, the crows, the ravens, the Star-Folk, the Blue Songs (Bluebirds) - Basically if it has feathers and isn't a parrot, she has OPINIONS and she's not afraid to be terrible about them. She also has been told that the predecessor of her kind was the chosen one and was the most notable of the seven progenitors - And in a way, she is right that he was notable ... but not for the reasons she thinks (this ties into a predecessor series for Cawdyssey called Project NOAH).

18.) what aspect of the story would get you #canceled on twitter?

I'm not sure. Maybe some folks may try to humanize the birds too much. Yes, there are some aspects that are similar, but these are all very different species from each other and they still act like their progenitor species and so human ideals aren't necessarily going to be the same.

20.) your ocverse just got a movie trilogy a la hunger games style. how have they horribly mangled your message/theme so that the movies are now a showcase of what the original was condemning?

Oh God ... trying to take out the somewhat brutal nature of birds and completely Disneyfying it. Especially if they remove the scene that leads to Kora leaving their people in the first place because that is needed. Also they would absolutely try to shove in a romance between Kora and Brach because of course they will (none of the characters are romantically involved).

RP PET PEEVES/DEALBREAKERS: I would have to say the top two would be not reading rules/abouts(they are there FOR A REASON), and just genrally bashing/harrassing someone just because their portrail/ships/verses/whatever just aren't someone else's particular cup of tea. Like the unnecessary being mean and vile just for the sake of it or to make yourself feel better, take it somewhere else. We're here to have fun.

FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: I enjoy fluff because I'm usually mean to a number of muses I play, both on and off tumblr and yes, sometimes muses being tooth rottingly sweet together, platonic or otherwise, is fantastic. Angst is actually one of my favorite "genres" and I love getting to play it, but I can't always find partners that want to do that. Part of that is I've had a lot of partners who take "angst" to just mean relationship angst/pining and that's...not what I'm looking for. Smut I'm fine with but I'm not great at, and it has to be 1) with a muse that my muse is interested in to some level and 2) a mun that I'm comfortable with as well. I've done kinky and vanilla stuff but as someone who's asexual, it's...weird, sometimes? I can do a whole thread of kink and then for the next two months want nothing to do with it while my muse is in horny jail.

PLOTS OR MEMES: I like both! Memes are great for on the fly, ice breakers, or as one of my friends likes to do sending "a challenge"(a.k.a. sending something with no warning or context and wishing the best of luck to figure out something to do with it. Lots of fun). I do also love plotting too, both in depth in one go and just figuring out some basics but then building up on it as we go.

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: I don't have a preference. Both are great in their own ways, but I need at least something to work with. Two lines is not something to work with usually unless it's like....a crack thread, or similar.

BEST TIME TO WRITE: If I am awake and not busy, it's a good time to write. I'm halfway nocturnal ask anyone who's talked to me at length for a month, and most stuff I reply back to pretty quickly, 1-2 days is my average unless I really need to think out a reply so yeah...if I'm awake.
