Her name is Raven Solana Amethyst Darkstone but goes by Raven from her friends or Solana with her sister (don't ask-)

She is the princess of the amethyst kingdom (like y'know how Harumi is from the jade kingdom kinda like that)

Has a sister named Luna Amethyst Darkstone

Cole's cousin, they used to hang out a lot but lost contact after lily's death

Eye colour is actually dark purple

Actually 12 but got splashed with the tomorrows tea making her 18 (kinda like Lloyd)

Had a crush on Harumi before she found out that she was evil and wanted to summon Lord Garmadon (again kinda like Lloyd)

Whenever she isn't doing princess stuff she loves to train her powers/strength

Apart of a prophecy that makes her have 4 elements to control instead of one (idk I just made it up, just think of it like the green ninja or in this case the Amethyst ninja)

Elemental Master of Crystal, Illusions,Magic and possession.

Possession meaning she can possess any power (kinda like amber but different) or person whenever she wants.

She has abusive parents (if she does anything wrong, out of line in the palace or as a princess her mom will slap her on the wrist and sometimes cut her wrist)

Has been pushed fallen off a cliff before (and somehow lived, but still had many scars from it that she hides)

Forced to grow up because of the tomorrows tea and got gaslit into thinking she was in a coma for 6 years

Reason she was forced to grow up was because her Mom, Estella wanted her to become Queen instead of Luna

I think, perhaps one of the funniest things to come from EPIC popularising the Odyssey is that now a ton of people think Poseidon wanted to kill Odysseus.

In the Odyssey, Poseidon has no intention of killing Odysseus. In fact, part of the whole reason Zeus lets Poseidon do whatever he wants even though he thinks Odysseus is rad and should get to kiss his wife is explicitly because Poseidon had no intentions of killing Odysseus. Poseidon wanted to pay back the suffering/inconvenience blinding Polyphemus would have caused. It's a really abstract thing tbh. How do you pay back someone permanently disabling your son? Poseidon's solution was just to amputate Odysseus from his other half; i.e. Penelope. The end game was never murder, it was always an endurance race.

Also, for those wondering if there's any sort of in text reason for why Poseidon wasn't around in God Games - at the time in the Odyssey when Athena petitions Zeus to let Odysseus leave Calypso's island, Poseidon was -checks notes- on vacation in Ethiopia. Yep. He left to Ethiopia for a festival and thusly was very much absent for Athena's whole "please let Ody go? Please? 🥺" request.

Success is Dependent on Secret Information

A lot of career success depends on you and the work you put into it, as well as luck beyond your control, but sadly, it also depends on secret information, magic words, and stupid little tricks.

That's not fair. I don't like it, but we can help by sharing that secret information--which is the antidote to gate-keeping. That's why I recently wrote this in my Authors of Nonfiction Books in Progress substack:

It can be really disheartening to realize that, when you thought you failed at something because you didn't do well enough, other people had the magic words. For instance, some injustices I've witnessed (that may or may not always be the case, or maybe not anymore!) include:

A good athletic score doesn't get you into a college sport--having a coach or parent talk to the college coach is mandatory

Many school-sponsored scholarships are often not tightly linked to grades, test scores, or financial need, but whether the student said the right words ("I can't afford that") to the right person (presumably some financial office person.)

Apparently, some aspects of some degrees are cheated on by most students (if that's the case, we should tell all students that it's ok to cheat on that so they don't waste their time on something that apparently wasn't important anyway, or worse, fail out just for being ethical.)

Especially related to books: Few people will mention that you can get grants! Not my agent, not my publisher, not the 1 zillion "pros and cons of trad publishing" articles out there mentioned grants (Grant eligibility is a HUGE benefit of trad publishing.) I got more money from grants than my entire book advance!
