jayden.
jayden james finnegan (he/him) is an oc of mine based on a real person (PLEASE do not come for me i know i have a problem ok i KNOW). he originally comes from a whodunnit story i wrote about a series of arsons in a high school. i shared a lot of the enemies-to-lovers arc he has with his in-story love interest, morgan fay (they/them), who is basically just me in another font. despite this, i still manage to be jealous of them when i write scenes. his face claim is akeem osborne (which, he's not a totally correct pick for jayden, technically the ethnicities don't match up, but akeem was the closest person i could find physical features-wise).
(read more bc this is a long post)
i meet jayden in fourth grade, when he befriends my longtime friend named joel corbyn (he/him). joel and i stop talking shortly after, and for a while, i kind of view jayden as the reason (even though he is well and truly not). cue some CR trauma involving another ex-friend's meddling, and boom! jayden and i hate each other.
in fifth grade, jayden and i have two separate conflicts that both involve us getting expelled from our previous school, and we both end up in seacoast boarding academy's probatio program. we're less than thrilled to see each other, but after some character development on my part and his, we become friends in or around ninth grade. eventually, around eleventh grade he asks me out and i say yes.
jayden is kind of an asshole (lmao), but not really in an evil way so much as a funny way. really he's only mean to people who deserve it, but he's very witty and goofy. he's definitely a class clown type of person, and he's extremely popular, whereas for most of my life i am not. he's on the football team, he's a skater boy, and he's "too cool for school" (read: he has ADHD and dyslexia- the school system has failed him and he feels like he's just stupid, makes an attempt to convince himself and other people that his failure to meet academic expectations is a conscious choice and not a personal failing. also yes he and i make demigod jokes, because i have ADHD and dyscalculia. he jokes that he's a greek demigod, i joke that i'm a roman demigod). he does really good in one class though- any math class. this is because the math classrooms have access to audio pens, and highlighted words can be read out loud to the user through headphones. despite usually being a brilliant situational observer, jayden somehow never makes a connection between the audio pens and his success in the classes.
jayden's family life is insanely complicated. his parents have been divorced since early childhood. his father is a violent alcoholic and has been jailed several times. his mom remarried a guy named stephane, and jayden now has one full-blood older brother (kaden, he/him, two years older), one step-sister sharing no blood relation to him (genevieve, she/her, three years younger), and one maternal half-sister (rosalie, she/her, five years younger). his dad moves back in with them when we're about seventeen, causes many problems, and his mom and stephane briefly separate during this time (everything ends up being okay with them, though). jayden has a pretty strained relationship with his dad, and during this period of time he definitely comes to stay with me or another friend more often than not. his family's not rich necessarily, but they would be considered pretty good living standards for middle class.
he's a disaster bisexual. he loves wearing maxi skirts, painting his nails black, and when i do his eyeliner. he loves red roses and hoodies and those little goofy valentine's day teddy bears. despite being on the football team, he's a fairly wiry, thin guy, and i'm definitely stronger than him physically lol. he's honestly probably better suited to soccer than football, but i guess his friends are all on the football team. he's 5'10", which means that even though my DR self is taller than my CR self, he is still very much taller than me. we both love coffee dates, and we frequently go out to just sit and talk in a coffee shop for literal hours. he gets a latte and i get a black iced coffee and every single time he makes some kind of joke about it and me being nuts and i make a joke back about him being a wimp. i love him so much and i'm definitely going to make an entire second post talking about this man because he's just so awesome and amazing and i love him ok bye

Lagos Court remands Eze Igbo over inciting comment
The Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba, on Wednesday, ordered that the Eze Igbo of Ajao Estate, Fredrick Nwajagu, be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre. Nwajagu was arrested last Saturday following a viral video, in which he threatened to invite members of the Indigenous People of Biafra to Lagos to secure properties of Igbo people living in the state. The 67-year-old was arraigned on Wednesday before the magistrate court, presided over by P. E. Nwaka. The police charged him with two counts, bordering on misconduct and intention to cause a breach of peace in Lagos State. The four-man police prosecution team, led by the OC Legal, Yetunde Cardoso, told the court that Nwajagu committed the offence on March 26, 2023, at No 2 Akeem Shittu Street, Ajao Estate, Lagos. “The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by making inciting statements, saying that he would bring IPOB terrorist group to shut down Lagos for one month, three weeks, or three days,” the prosecution said. According to the team, the offences contravened Sections 168 (d), 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. They prayed the court to remand the defendant in the correctional centre for 30 days pending legal advice from the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions. However, counsel for the defendant, while moving their client’s bail application, urged the court to admit the defendant to bail in the most liberal terms. The magistrate, who rejected the counsel’s plea, ordered the immediate remand of the defendant to the Ikoyi Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the DPP. Nwaka adjourned the case till May 3, 2023, for DPP advice. The PUNCH reports that Nwajagu, in a 49-second video, which went viral on Twitter, had allegedly threatened to invite IPOB members to Lagos to protect the Igbo people and their properties in the state. In the viral video, he said, “IPOB, we will invite them. They have no job. All of the IPOB will protect all of our shops. And we have to pay them. We have to mobilise for that. We have to do that. We must have our security so that they will stop attacking us at midnight, in the morning, and in the afternoon. “When they discover that we have our security before they will come, they will know that we have our men there. I am not saying a single word to be hidden. I am not hiding my words, let my words go viral. Igbo must get their right and get a stand in Lagos State.” However, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, reacting to his statements, said the command would resist IPOB presence in the state. Following the statement, the defendant was arrested by the Department of State Services on April 1, 2023, in a hotel in Ejigbo. Kindly share this story: Read the full article

Babysiting by strong forces
When Author was a lil bby Isrid would mostly babysit her everytime Azgo would go to work or had to leave the house. Azgo is one of Isrids ex soilders (he's retired now), and at the time the only people he knew (and trusted) was his commander and (I'll edit the name later i can't remember xdd)
Isrid is a dragon shifter from the volcano village (try to guess why is it called like that lol) which is home for the fire force one of the strongest forces there is, known for their brash character and their power that allows them to transforms into "beast of hell."
Akeem is another dragon shifter and commander from his village as well another one of the strongest. Both villages are in peace treaty so they both get along surprisingly well.
Isrid's well respected across the world and very much beating ur shit in a sec if ur not careful, very brash and strict in work, but as u can see...
Kid's are his weakness...specialy Author whose became like a lil hatchling to him. He has VERY strong motherly insticts.
Azgo has quite a hard time getting her daughter back when he picks her up 😅

Nothing new so I'm posting the portrait of Akeem (face reveal!) I made last week. In case you wanna full view...
*.He's a singer who works as a DJ cause it's easier, it's good and quick money, and he's too much of a perfectionist to release his mixtapes atm.
*.Not a native New Yorker. He comes from Baltimore, left his hometown around the age of 18.
*.He's HIV positive, caught the virus in utero, has always been under treatment. No one knows about this cause he's extremely secretive. He's got an undetectable viral load so as long as he can't infect anyone, he thinks it's nobody's business. He told a few people, a couple times, but no one was willing to believe he was born with the disease.
*.His tattoos on his shoulders and chest mean "in the name of God, most gracious, most merciful" it's traditional islamic calligraphy. He's not religious, but he comes from a Muslim African American family.
*.He's got a dreamcatcher tattooed in his back, Ani was very surprised when she first saw it ; she also has a dreamcatcher tat, on her neck. "It's fate ! We're like, dreamcatcher twins!" "I honestly don't think anyone's ever gonna mistake us for twins babe." She paused "it's funny I've never seen a guy with a dreamcatcher tattoo. I always thought it was kind of a girl thing." "Bullshit. Men have nightmares too, you know."
*.He first met Ani in a club. They were both here to make money ; he was spinning, she was a gogo dancer. He didn't notice her at all ; it was a rather fancy club downtown Brooklyn, and there was all those raver bimbos swaying their hips, each one locked inside a cage up above the dancefloor. Ani just happened to be one of those girls. At some point someone fired a gun and everyone became crazy hearing the gunshots. Akeem was busy gathering his equipment (that shit is way to expensive there was no way he was gonna split without his sound mixer) as he was about to runaway like everybody else he heard one of the gogo dancers crying for help. It was Ani who couldn't get out of the cage. He put his gear down and set her free. They quickly escaped through the back door as they heard the police sirens.
*.Ani was only wearing a bikini and stockings that night. Akeem gave her his jacket and walked her home. He was extremely polite and respectful, he didn't look at her almost naked body and he didn't try to take advantage of the situation one second. He didn't even ask for her number. Ani was heart eyes, only thing she had in mind after that was to see her mysterious saviour again.
*.He's not exactly a gentleman, but he always treats girls right, especially if he likes them. He figured that he had a lot more chances to get it on by actually paying attention to what girls say and not objectifying them.
*.He's kind of a fuckboi orz. A very classy and well behaved fuckboi but still. He's always very explicit about his intentions. He's not willing to fake being in love with someone just because he likes that person and that person likes him back. He doesn't understand why people feel the need to be in a relationship, to invent a love story when clearly there's nothing here.
*.He wrote a song for Ani called "Cry For Me" after a few months of relationship. Obviously she cried when she heard it. He said to her : "Before I met you I only ever wrote fantasy love songs, but this time, damn I mean it. Every single word." She's his first serious gf. He often calls her Princess.
*.He's a lone wolf who likes to disappear for a few days/week and being completely unreachable by phone.
*.Before moving in with Ani, he was living in a squat in Harlem. It was mostly occupied by homeless people, artists and activists.
*.Like most of my characters he's a recreational drug user, but he actually likes weed a lot better than cocaine. He smokes menthol cigarettes as well.
*.His HIV treatment is extremely expensive and he occasionally does some hustling to make more money and finally being able to get those damn pills.
#ocs#blindsight extended#smiles#blindsight#akeem#he doesn't have a last name yet orz#and this is pretty much all I've got bout him so far tbh#anyway i hope you like the new boy ❤️

The AAF And Why We Should Care About These Teams
Joey
Feb 5th, 2019
Still bummed about the Super Bowl? Well let's get over it real quick! On Saturday, the Alliance of American Football will be the first of THREE (God help us) spring football leagues to take off. THREE. We really needed that many, huh? Doesn't being announced after the XFL, the AAF will launch this spring under the watchful eyes of Dick Ebersol and NFL executive legend Bill Polian and will air across a variety of platforms such as Bleacher Report's online app, the NFL Network, the CBS Sports online app, TNT and CBS itself. Let that be a lesson to those of you who think that sports can't milk every single penny out of today's weird digital/broadcast era. The majority of the pitches for this game feature stuff football fans do seem to want in some capacity although disagreements about HOW to implement them remain. For instance, the AAF is attempting to shave 30 minutes off of the viewing experience by limiting commercials. They're also scrapping pretty much all elements of kicking from the game (two point conversions only, onsides kick have been replaced by a wacky 4th and 10 scenario and there's no kickoffs either) so fans who are obsessive compulsive about kicking get a bit of a break. We've got a college football style "one foot = catch" rule and a reduction of the play clock from the NFL's 40 seconds to a cool 30 seconds. It's an attempt to do somethings differently and I'm at least willing to give it a try.
With just eight teams to choose from for the AAF, I'll just go team by team and list ONE reason why you should care. As much as you wanna just consider it a bunch of has beens and never was' playing out here, there's some intriguing storylines for the AAF. So much so in fact that perhaps you'll find a team so intriguing that you'll follow along this year!
Atlanta Legends
Why: Michael Vick Offensive Coordinator
I wanted to do a larger piece on how the NFL's lack of black head coaches boils down to the NFL's lack of black offensive coordinators (the IN demand spot these days). Instead of writing eight paragraphs about something that could be done in one, let's just look at Michael Vick and his new role as Atlanta Legends offensive coordinator. For starters, the Alliance of American Football being a potential breeding ground for former players to better grasp the coaching game is an A+ decision. We've already seen the offensive coordinator for another team in the Alliance of American Football get the bump up to NFL QB Coach (Jon Kitna went from San Diego Fleet Offensive Coordinator to Dallas Cowboys QB coach) and any opportunity for former players to stay involved in the game is a good one. Michael Vick's name comes with a lot of clout (and plenty of controversy) so right off the jump he's an important get for the AAF. How good he is as an offensive coordinator (be it gameplanning, calling plays or making adjustments on the fly) could determine how quickly he ascends at the position. Vick is a really unique character and a polarizing figure but seeing him in the role of offensive coordinator is going to be a worthwhile experiment. If Vick opens the door for other young out of work players to jump into the coaching game then I for one am all for it. As for the roster, the Atlanta Legends actually have plenty of name value from former Georgia QB Aaron Murray to NC wide receiver Bug Howard to Iowa RB Akrum Wadley to a host of Georgia Bulldogs on defense.
Memphis Express
Why: The "name" QB battle
Let's always be honest about this stuff; your fan interest will only go as far as the QB you have. The Memphis Express may not have GOOD QBs but they have NAME QBs and that's truly what counts. The Memphis Express have Christian Hackenberg and Zach Mettenberger, two "name" QBs who figure to draw in eyeballs if only due to the fact that there's Penn State and LSU involved. Hackenberg was a disaster for two years at Penn State and people excused him for that because the team was bad or the line was bad or the coaching was bad. Turns out Hackenberg was just bad and continued to be bad at the NFL level before getting bounced around by 4-5 different teams. Hackenberg will attempt to resurrect his stock in the AAF, a team that literally named its offensive coordinator in like early January after their original OC bounced. Hackenberg won the job but the back up spot belongs to Zach Mettenberger. I refuse to believe that Hackenberg is a better player than Mettenberger but ALAS! Mettenberger has NFL experience and has thrown actual touchdowns in real football games even if he played like a 6th round pick who was holding onto a roster spot for dear life. He just wasn't that good. Mettenberger and Hackenberg are two guys who share similar traits (big, they throw the ball far) with different reasons (Mettenberger was a problem in college, Hackenberg couldn't really play) that leads to the same development (playing in the AAF to continue their pro football careers). Still a QB BATTEL with name value is STILL a QB BATTEL and here we are. The Memphis Express also have a ton of LSU guys and LSU players don't half ass it so expect a ton of big hits from their defensive which legitimately has an all LSU DL. Also of note, the head coach is Mike Singletary and we can expect plenty of intense coaching gifs and press conference call outs of his own players. That's the finest reality we deserve.
Orlando Apollos
Why: Steve Spurrier is BACK!
Remember the days of Steve Spurrier? Run and Gun? Mr. Click Clack? There ya go. The Ol Ball Coach is back and Spurrier in Florida just feels right. Steve Spurrier's offenses in the mid to late 2000s were some of the funnest things imaginable and I'm curious to see if a few years off to refuel the jets don't bring out the fun in the Run 'N Gun offense. Spurrier's offense is helmed by either Austin Appleby or Garrett Gilbert since apparently nobody knows who the starter is as of this moment. Beyond that, he's also got a trio of name running backs (D'Earnest Johnson from USF was a popular name around draft time plus Akeem Hunt from Purdue and De'Veon Smith from Michigan were interesting dudes) and like twelve WRs who all run really fast. Realistically though I feel like this team is about watching to see if Steve Spurrier turns this gig into another college coaching opportunity soon enough.
Birmingham Iron
Why: TRENT RICHARDSON (and friends)
Unsurprisingly given the whole locales theme, the Birmingham Iron roster is LOADED with dudes from Alabama. The one name who immediately jumps out is Trent Richardson and I'm surprisingly intrigued to see how he looks. It's worth remembering that Trent Richardson had a tremendous rookie season and looked to be on the way to being something before he got big/hurt. Perhaps Richardson will be rejuvenated playing at home in front of what figures to be a primarily loaded Alabama crowd. Also keep an eye on Blake Sims who I figure will win the QB job eventually. In fact keep an eye on every player from Alabama (Auburn, Bama, Troy) because chances are they'll be given ample opportunities to show out at home. They also have the coolest uniforms. Lastly Tim Lewis is a long time defensive coordinator/DB coach getting his first crack at a head coaching gig so I'm curious to see if he can parlay that into another big opportunity down the line.
San Diego Fleet
Why: Mike Martz
Mike Martz is arguably one of the more unfairly judged head coaches in NFL history. He was the coordinator for the Greatest Show On Turf and as head coach of the Rams, Martz had five full seasons---he made the playoffs in 4 of those. Martz' ouster in St. Louis was controversial for a variety of reasons but he WAS successful and deserves to be remembered as such. From that point on Martz never got another head coaching opportunity, bouncing around as a coordinator in Detroit (back to back 4,000 yard seasons for Jon Friggin' Kitna of all things), San Francisco and a disastrous run in Chicago with Jay Cutler. Martz was pretty much cast aside by the NFL at that point and his reputation as a pass happy difficult personality pretty much ensured he would stay out the game. With passing being en vogue (and every QB guru alive being courted for 1,000,000 roles), this might be Mike Martz's last chance to maybe find a place in big time football. The San Diego Fleet roster is relatively bare compared to its contemporaries but Mike Martz almost guarantees to make it as fun as possible given the usual performances of his wacky passing game. Mike Martz making Mike Bercovici look like an NFL level quarterback would probably be his greatest accomplishment ever. Also keep an eye on Nelson Spruce slot WR-ing his way back to the NFL if it's any thing like he was at Colorado.
Arizona Hotshots
Why: Phil Savage and Rick Neuheisel
Phil Savage is in a very weird spot here. Savage had a brief runs as Browns GM and it went about as well as you'd expect it to. He was in, out and done before anybody even knew he was there. Savage re-emerged as a key part of the Senior Bowl process and for the most part, I don't think I ever saw many complaints about Savage's job as the figurehead for the event. Surprisingly at the end of 2018, the Senior Bowl replaced Phil Savage with former scout Jim Nagy. The decision to move on from Savage was not exactly well received at first and it seems like Savage has bounced back well enough with the AAF. Savage should be able to form a damn good roster given that he's probably interacted with and been around most of these players relatively recently as the Senior Bowl's ace executive. Somehow someway Rick Neuheisel has weaseled himself into the picture and into another head coaching job, he of a sparkling 87-59 record in college but a less than sparkling 47-40 from 2000 onward. Plus he's also been pretty much run out of every stop he's had under inauspicious circumstances. Phil Savage should in theory be able to find a competent squad of players (and they have a pretty well known defense with Sterling Moore, Rahim Moore, Will Sutton, Carl Bradford, Scooby Wright and Chunky Clements) and perhaps the time away has rejuvenated Neuheisel. At the very least Trevor Knight will be fun to watch am I right?
Salt Lake Stallions
Why: A Testing Pattern Perhaps?
Utah has one pro sports franchise, the Utah Jazz, which is intreresting when you consider how beloved the Jazz are. It seems like there's a very big supportive fanbase for sports out there in the Pacific Northwest and yet Utah has no football team, no baseball team and no hockey team. PERHAPS this can be a test. The Salt Lake Stallions overall do not have the most appealing roster in this entire deal but they may be the one best situated to draw the biggest audience. Utah is not blessed with a lot of pro sports options and if the Stallions are good then perhaps they can get people into the stadium. They have a weird eclectic mix of former Utes and three former QBs who if memory serves were all in the draft last year. Former Vikings RB and Utah legend Matt Asiata is 31 year and probably cooked BUT he figures to be a popular face for fans.
San Antonio Commanders
Why: An Actually Kinda Decent Deep-ish Team
Really. If you were putting together an all star game in 2017/2018 of pretty decent-ish draft prospects, a lot of these dudes would be here. QB Logan Woodside? Pretty good player! Had some issues but was a super productive small MAC QB type dude. RBs David Cobb and Aaron Green? Kinda intriguing RBs! Tray Williams has been on like 12 NFL teams as a third down back over the past two years even if he never stuck. WRs like Greg Ward, DeMarcus Ayers and Mekale McKay? Some draft buzz there! Some of their OL were late round types who wouldn't have been out of place at an NFL camp this season. The defense has draftnik "names" like Joel Lanning, Keenan Gilchrist, Tyrone Holmes, Austin Larkin, Winston Craig and a secondary featuring Jordan Thomas and Duke Thomas on the back end. It's actually not an awful team assuming you can put the parts together.
