Let's build a Splatoon OC! pt. 8

So far, this character is an extremely tall (over 6'6") Octoling tgirl with purple ink, and tentacles with cyan tips and red spots.

I imagine we're nearing the end. Time to really hammer things down and get specific. I've been looking forward to this one!

Of course, I couldn't fit every possible type here, so if needed there will be a second body type poll further clarifying things.

I'm excited at how far along things have gotten. Soon we can move on to subculture/style, facial stuff, and personality stuff!

ship that is doomed by the narrative. they experienced a connection, maybe a long time ago, and they would do anything to get back to that point. nothing and no one could ever come close to what they had, but it is gone now, and they need to get it back. but as they try to fix it and go back, they only escalate everything else and drive the other away. ships that could work if one thing, one mistake did not happen, but it did. ships that could work in literally any universe, just not this one.

My favorite method of character building is playlists.

get a bunch of songs that remind you of the character, put them in a list, and then let those songs build your character!

I kid you not, I have a TFP OC that's story was literally built off of bohemian rhapsody.

like yes, I came up with the concept, the story isn't exactly like the song, but the song could be used to explain the story/parts of the story really well! it's fun!

i skim through the lyrics, and try to explain why each verse connects to the story/character and its so fun brainstorming stuff.

Small details on a character (appearance wise)

- Do they wear their clothing or accessories the "Correct" way? (as they're intended to be worn) Do they have difficulty dressing themself? Where have they gotten their accessories and clothes? Could they get new ones, and how? Do the clothes or accessories fit them? Literally or physically? (Contradicts their personality and fashion sense / clothes too big or too small, not scaled for their body?)

- Can you tell their age by appearance? Have they aged as they should've, or are there reasons why they'd look older or younger? Do they look to be in good health or are they just young? Could you tell if their looks are based on their age vs their health? Why or why not? What's their personal hygiene routine? What affects it?

The courtesy of my partner irl (and my partner in crime when working on this comic), This is the design of Izaro, an irrational monster from our horror themed project. His mind is an echo of the person he used to be, and he's very irritable and prone to violent outbursts. After becoming a monster, his being is reduced to repeating the motions of his previous self, but instead of performing body modifications, his four arms perform grotesque art with sinew and flesh of anything unfortunate enough to cross the threshold of his lair.

and unfortunately hero with a necromancer dad *does* go brrrr so i've been thinking about all of the things about my oc hero jemma that would be just so subtly off and perhaps hint to her having an... interesting childhood.

Alright let’s talk Bolton OCs

So we’re all familiar with the “murderous maniac” type Bolton ocs. And while they are fun, I think it’s interesting to consider what other kinds of Boltons existed. I very much doubt that many of them were the pinnacle of mental health, given well…. Everything about the house. But I think it showed in different ways.

Maybe there’s a Bolton man who was a charming, social, and (seemingly) sincere person who enjoyed the company of others and seemed to be a very reasonable person. He has no problem putting people at ease. Making them feel genuinely seen and cared for. As to how much he ACTUALLY cares, that’s a different story. He’s not vapid per se, which makes it worse. He’s quite clever. He just isn’t above using faux care to complete something. Ironically I imagine him to not have much of a desire to inflict pain, as much as he has a desire to use everything at his disposal simply because it seems like the obvious option. Why shouldn’t he become close to someone if they know information? It’s useful to know things. Why shouldn’t he make as many friends as possible? Being well liked is important. And why shouldn’t he lie as much as he does? Nobles are brutal if they notice any openings. Better to be the one taking advantage then to make the mistake of putting faith in someone. He isn’t necessarily bitter or sadistic. Just has terrible morals and doesn’t feel shame about manipulating.

If other members of his house criticize his methods, or his lack of ambition, he’d just remind them that thanks to his “methods” they’re a step ahead. He does believe in the importance of “our blades are sharp.” He just doesn’t believe the blade you can see is the most useful one. He likes to think of himself as a more modern member of his house

And come on why complain? He’s being helpful! Better than being just another lazy noble. He’s contributing to the interests of the House!

Tbh this character doesn’t necessarily need to be male. Could be equally interesting as a lady. Just thought of a guy in the moment since we were talking male OCs

ADORE THAT! Like you say, its nice to have differences for sure in households - they can't all be the same even though there is a blanket of similarity .
