I do like to imagine Eris ending up with a partner who’s actually super Normal and Healthy. I think it would be good for him eventually but in the beginning he would not know how tf to deal with them. Like he says something nasty because he’s in a bad mood and they gently correct him and talk him through it. A “it’s not me vs you it’s us vs the problem” type partner

me too!!! he would spook like a horse initially, but that sort of warmth and compassion would be so novel to him, i don’t think he’d have any sort of defenses against it once he let it in? he wouldn’t trust it at all, would suspect ulterior motive, would try to scare it away, but then when there’s nothing but kindness and kindness and kindness, he finds it has found its way into him without him even realizing. he needs it so bad. he has craved it for the whole of his life but didn’t know it could exist for him. NIGHTFIRE SIGNAL TRIVIA (for EDGEWAVE 2025)

Nightfire Signal is like... Old Gods of Asgard/Nightwish (circa early 2000s)/Within Temptation with vibes of 2CELLOS/Visions of Atlantis, plus a bit of chill/fun folk covers a la The Longest Johns, and sometimes the ennui of the Smiths.

MEMBERS: Arthur (vocals, lead guitarist), Amelia (vocals, violin, occasional banjo), Noel (vocals, violin, accordion), Marianne (vocals)

Arthur and Noel are from the UK, with Arthur being raised outside London in Kingston, and Noel hailing from Bristol.

Amelia was born and raised in Virginia, United States.

Daniel is from NYC, New York, United States. He was born in Sleepy Hollow, where his mother currently resides, but has spent much of his adult life in Manhattan.

Marianne was raised in Marsaille, France, but her career has taken her worldwide.

When not on tour, Arthur and Daniel reside in the quiet village of Henford-on-Bagley, on the other side of town from Arthur's mother.

Composition of music and lyrics is usually a collaborative effort, though Amelia usually handles the mixing and sound editing.

The band manager is Arthur's husband, Daniel, who helps back the band with prerecorded and sometimes live keyboard.

Amelia and Marianne are married! They have a quadruple with Noel and Noel's husband, Jack.

Noel's husband is Jack, a relative of Arthur's, who runs a small but successful accounting firm in London.

Nightfire Signal has run multiple successful charity and activism campaigns and donate regularly to leftist organizations worldwide.

They promote grassroots movements, community involvement, worker solidarity, and anti-fascist organization.

In an interview in 2022, Arthur is noted as having said: "It's my goal to write and perform music that makes the powers that be uncomfortable, but also offers a bit of an escape for the rest of us. At the end of the day, I want to inspire people to hope and to keep fighting."

Several of Nightfire Signal's songs have been banned from broadcast in the UK, most notably Dead Empire, A Better Britain, and Coal + Fire, among others.

Giving Nuzleaf a name is actually really cool bc in Celtic mythology giving someone your Real Name is like giving them your name, address, and credit card information. Also, being named given will make you more Powerful, because someone thought you were important enough to be referred to.

It’s a bit of worldbuilding I love to cook into my PMDverse! Species names are used as formal address and like honorifics, and given names are used for indicating familiarity and connections. There’s so much potential for insights into characters and their relationships with it! Just a few examples I love especially:

Kip asks Twig directly for a nickname when they first meet. That’s a big social faux pas that helps reveal how desperate Kip was to have a close friend as well as showing his social inexperience.

Ark gets PEEVED when Skuntank referred to him by name without even giving him the courtesy of a personal name to refer to him with in turn. It’s a fun showcase of Ark being a stickler for proper etiquette and Skuntank not caring about it whatsoever.

Nuzleaf (and Spindle too tbh!) goes by his species name almost exclusively because he wants to avoid the chance of anybody from his past being able to find him— but that’s for pragmatic reasons, and if it were up to him alone, he would be telling even the mailman to refer to him by name, because he’s a pretty laidback guy who enjoys connecting with others where he can, despite not being all that social.

And Banette, meanwhile, uses every given name he learns despite most people not wanting or giving him permission to do so. Does he do this to be disrespectful and upset people, to pretend at having close bonds with those around him, or some secret third thing? Only time will tell :>

Static is,, for lack of a better term, a people pleaser. not just in the sense that they like to help out or avoid fights, but because she sees this as the only way anyone will really care about them. the only way he'll be useful. they're always at their loved ones beck and call, even when he himself is struggling. they often suppress their needs and negative feelings for the sake of not being a burden to anyone around her, until they cant bear any more and break down, usually followed by apologies for their own expressing of such emotions.

His "creator" more or less engraved it into them that even at their very best, when doing everything she could want and ask for, they would always have failed potential. always could've been better. always never being enough, even when giving every last bit of herself.

they still carry some of this mentality subconsciously, years of healing and recovery later have lessened the thoughts, but he still sometimes gets the gut feeling that their very presence is unnecessary. that no one really wants let alone needs her around. they're only good for what they can do for others. utterly, and wholly Replaceable.
