Yep. 

Under the cut is me going feral and only @hockeychaos knowing what the fuck i’m talking about KSDFGSHDFGSDB this also includes the nicknames we call some of them. 

1. Vladimir Myshkin - Thot Energy. this man is a smol THOT and we have the PHOTO EVIDENCE but he is also such an adorable smol goalie (would defo ruffle his hair uwu) and HE DESERVES SO MUCH BETTER THAN TO BE KNOWN AS ‘TRETIAK’S BACKUP’, VLADIMIR IS HIS OWN PERSON FFS. probably my fav goalie, he’s a bean!!!! also he and Vasily (below) are Big OTP. 

2. Viacheslav Fetisov (Slava) - So Iconic, he deserves the whole entire world. but I will forever be salty that he now supports THAT OLD COOT WHO P MUCH RULES RUSSIA NOW. YOU’RE BETTER THAN THAT, SLAVA, YOU KNOW IT. anyways, stan the (future as of 1980) papa bear, Brendan Shanahan Was Right. 

5. Vasily Pervukhin - this mans is a grump in 90% of pictures he’s in but?? he also has such friend shaped energy??? so that’s his personality to me. he hates cameras but otherwise he is such a lovely friend. 555/5 would hug him. he and Vladimir 1) are BIG OTP, 2) are absolute BOYFRIENDS and later HUSBANDS in my ‘verse, 3) deserve so much better than to be remembered just for the Miracle. 

6. Valeri Vasiliev (Lerik) - MY FAVORITE. ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS and THICC, ABSOLUTELY LOVELY. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. yea, in the past year I went to not really knowing about him to simping for him 25/8. and yearning for him, I admit this. he is such a soft mans (and a Big Thot, have yall SEEN his bodychecking???). Lerik and Yuri (below) are Such An OTP but add my self insert and it’s even better as a triad, and have together stolen my uwus. STREAM BECAUSE BY DREAMCATCHER SINCE??? VIBES FOR LERIK MY BELOVED I WILL FOREVER BE SAD ABOUT HIM /pos 

7. Alexei Kasatonov - HIMBO ALERT HIMBO ALERT HIMBO ALERT. he looks like the kind of guy who MEDDLES and will give you SHIT the moment you have a crush, but in a good way. and also a THOT which Mandy and I can vvvv attest to. tldr: his energy is annoying, but good annoying. 

9. Vladimir Krutov (Vova) - cinnamon unit!!!!!! he may have been A Menace on the ice but I’ve read that off the ice???? he was???? such a sweet dude??? and just looking at him he has Wholesome Little Brøther Energy. Vladislav wanted to protecc this cinnamon roll with all his heart and tbh? he’s RIGHT 

10. Alexander Maltsev (Sasha) - Everyone’s Uncle!!!!! Has 1000% Soft Uncle Vibes, Enough Said. I feel kind of bad that in my fics he’s stuck being Dynamo’s lone franchise player from ‘78 onwards but he’ll be alright, he has a baby winger to train. he is So Proud Of Her. also he and his wife looked adorable together. 

11. Yuri Lebedev - BELOVED LITTLE SNOWDROP. I cannot escape this man and tbh, I’m glad he kept catching up with me in my subconscious/vibe checks since he is So Adorable and So Soft and has Such Kind And Gentle Vibes. I would vvv like many cuddles and kisses and soft words from him. he and Lerik (above) are probs my Favorite Hockey Ship excluding my OCs but it’s even better as a triad when I add in my self insert. 

12. Sergei Starikov (Seriy) - lowkey shy energy, highkey soft energy. he seems like he’d be a bit shy at first but would also give such good hugs. in my fics he’s in the (sorta unspoken) Book Club Trio who are all p much BFFs and just have each other’s backs no matter what and it’s So Soft. also, I read somewhere that he loved dumplings so SERIY IS MY SWEET LITTLE DUMPLING. 

13. Boris Mikhailov - TIRED DAD!!!!!!!! BUT GOOD DAD!!!!!!! I SWEAR this man has a resting tired dad face (which Miracle (2004) GOT WRONG, HE DOES NOT HAVE A MF RESTING SMUG FACE) and yeah he has to deal with everyone’s shenanigans and Accept A Lot Of Things so he deserves to have a nap and some cuddles already. but we stan a great captain. stop making him talk about the Miracle. 

14. Zinetula Bilyaletdinov - seems really cool! if memory serves me correctly I remember reading he was kind of a secretive person so who knows what cool tales he could tell us about? there’s gotta be something to be BFFs with Big Z over. 

16. Vladimir Petrov (Vladik) - OG CHAOS MANSSSSSS!!!!!! at least in my ‘verse, he is So Chaotic and is always Up To Something. or yearning. OR BOTH, WHY NOT, BOTH IS GOOD. at the same time he seems so soft nnnnn and in a lot of pictures his expression is So Gentle and So Tender so yes he may be plotting the next chaos run but he is also yearning for his equally chaotic husbands (again, in my ‘verse) who he is So Soft For and misses So Much during the Miracle ordeal, THEY DESERVE EACH OTHER PERIODT. 

17. Valeri Kharlamov (Valia) - TEAM COUNSELOR. HE IS VERY SOFT I DON’T CARE WHAT THOSE ‘EPIC’ TRIBUTE VIDEOS TRY TO PAINT HIM AS. somehow I??? got the vibes right for him??? since I guessed he was so gentle and so kind and loved to be outside in nature and I was right????? there are so many pictures of him out there which is Such A Blessing and I am very sad about him /pos, HE LIVES IN MY ‘VERSE SINCE HE DESERVES IT. AND SO MUCH. side note, Valia could make friends with anyone which I LOVE but in my ‘verse he has an extra soft spot for the book club uwu 

19. Helmuts Balderis - Mustache Man 1, I don’t know/write much about him but from what I read about him and how he Up And Refused to go into the military he seems iconic. also, sorry Helmuts but, aforementioned baby winger (yes, an OC) is going to be faster than you òwó 

20. Vladislav Tretiak - SOFT GOALIE AND BEST GOALIE OUR BELOVED!!!!! I don’t care what the Miracle does to his reputation, he was SUCH AN ICONIC GOALIE and it was so so so so sad how he retired so early since TIKHONOV WAS A DICK TO LIKE EVERYONE. anyways. Vladislav was also such a good friend to like anyone and I LOVE THAT FOR HIM, he has The Best Energy. 

22. Viktor Zhluktov - Mustache Man 2, has stache game but I don’t know/write much about him. 

23. Alexander Golikov (Sanya) - wholesome big brother NO CAP!!!!! his brows may be Menacing /lh but do not let that fool you, other than that he has such good brøther energy and, he and Volodya (below) seem like they’d be close and IT’S SO ADORABLE THAT THEIR NUMBERS WERE MOSTLY CLOSE TO EACH OTHER. BUT I AM VERY SAD THAT IRL THEY DIDN’T FIGHT TO PLAY TOGETHER. also Sanya was captain of Dynamo for a season and that’s???? so iconic???? and in my ‘verse he will also protecc Seriy (and Valia) in the Book Club Trio uwu 

24. Sergey Makarov - ULTIMATE SOFT GRUMP!!!! has outwardly grumpy energy, and was apparently So Stubborn which VIBES, but is also Very Soft especially for his kid(s) which is apparent in a bunch of photos. someone give this man and said kids a hug. they probably need it. (I spelled his first name differently on purpose, it’s to differentiate from another Sergei, a certain Red Wings gremlin.) 

25. Vladimir Golikov (Volodya) - Cryptid Bean. he looks like a mf CRYPTID in the very few non-team-picture photos of him and I’m guessing he does Not Like Cameras or the media in general which is VALID. also has shy energy but also soft energy when he trusts you. I love the thought of him and Sanya being close to each other, especially of Sanya being protective of Volodya, and Volodya CANONICALLY FOLLOWED SANYA TO WHICHEVER TEAM HE PLAYED FOR WHICH IS SO SOFT?????? 

26. Alexander Skvortsov - he seems p nice, and sometimes looked a lot like Slava, but I don’t know/write much about him.

Vladimir Lutchenko - two words: CHAOS THOT. this man has a resting thot face and y’all can’t convince me otherwise. what is he thinking about (in my ‘verse)? probably plotting the next chaos plan, or Getting Ready To Thot Around. who is he looking at? OF COURSE at Vladik (above) and also at Alexander Gusev aka Goose since, in my ‘verse, they’re all married and would do a n y t h i n g for each other. 

4. Sergei Babinov - I don’t know/write much about him either (insert shrug face) 

OVERALL THOUGHTS - This roster first got me into Soviet hockey for real, and I do have to give credit to the Miracle for introducing me to it and inaverdently luring me down the rabbit hole. They were Such A Lovely Roster and deserved So Much More than what they got, some of these men missed their chance at their own Olympic gold because of it and?? that’s v sad in general??? To this day this roster is still my favorite of all time, since most of my fav players were on it. The above comments/vibe checks of them have come from almost a year of developing my Soviet hockey fic ‘verse which involves a LOT of OCs and has a bunch of AUs!

Speaking of which, Mandy, said ‘verse has become a huge collab with you and IT’S BEEN SO INCREDIBLY LOVELY TO COLLAB WITH YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY!!!!! It’s around a week until the first anniversary of our friendship, as far as I remember, and here’s to the iconicness that has come out of it!! CHEERS BESTIE BIG UWU

“Who’s that down there?” Alexei peered down at the figure approaching the front door. He struggled to pick out any details about this figure, whoever they were, how could he or Viacheslav do so when they were watching from all the way up from their balcony? 

“Don’t know,” Viacheslav answered quickly with a shrug. “Hell, this could be someone we know, or someone who got the wrong place. We’re not expecting any deliveries though, are we?” 

Alexei shook his head. “Not really, though ordering something in does sound nice right about now.” 

They shared a little laugh at this. 

“Though, how about we wait this one out, and see whether this person is really here for us or just the downstairs neighbors?” suggested Alexei. 

Viacheslav nodded, still keeping an eye on the figure now ringing the doorbell outside. “Sure. Who they’re here for is one of the things we can’t tell about them, after all.”

Eeveelutions!

A concept in the band is that each of the boys corresponds to an Eeveelution and a color. The color is fairly obvious when you consider the Eeveelution. This helped in developing prototypes for the boys’ personalities! 

Here they are: 

Boris - Umbreon, black 

Valeri - Leafeon, green 

Aleksandr - Sylveon, pink 

Vladimir - Flareon, orange 

Vasili - Vaporeon, blue 

Viacheslav - Jolteon, yellow 

Sergei - Glaceon, turquoise 

Alexei - Espeon, purple 

Along with... 

Volodya - Eevee, brown 

Yuna is gonna get the Flying-type Eeveelution, whenever that comes out! 

Also note that none of the members are favored over the others. Just because Sergei’s Eeveelution is Glaceon (the ice-type one) and the band’s name is Thin Ice doesn’t mean Sergei is the favorite of the group, per se, though some may have him as their bias. ^^

✧༝┉ met with a smile,

Seeing his best friend smile as he often did, laughing with him and wrapping an arm around him, was more often than not enough to bring a smile to Viacheslav’s face as well. 

Days had gone by, grouping into weeks, folding into months and years, since Viacheslav first met eyes with Alexei in that practice room, the conversation that followed, then the two training together and finding times to meet up otherwise. Ever since when both first grew to be fond of the other’s company, interacting with Alexei hardly ever failed to set something off in Viacheslav - something warm, happy, something rare for him. It was something of a reassurance, that someone who understood him, who was happy to either talk with him or listen to him, was right there. 

Yet perhaps the best thing about this was that it was clear Alexei felt the same way. It tended to be evident with him, given the many times he would gravitate towards Viacheslav, to help him through a rough patch, to cheer him up with lively conversation and playful hugs. 

It all had made for many memories both would remember as among their happiest times, several versions of a particular one constantly playing back like an old recording on repeat in Viacheslav’s mind. Why this memory remained so vivid for him, he wasn’t sure. Possibly because of how many times it had loosely repeated itself since the first time. There was a similar scene, a similar feel across each version. 

After a long day at school as well as training, both Viacheslav and Alexei were in a hurry to come home, unwind, have a nice dinner, get in at least a few good hours of sleep before the similarly busy next day dawned. It was almost a daily routine. But today brought a special addition, in the form of Alexei staying over with Viacheslav’s family. Naturally, the anticipation of more quality time together was enough for them to almost carelessly race across the streets, chatting with energetic excitement along the way, passing numerous houses and apartment buildings before reaching those familiar to Viacheslav. As he picked up an even quicker pace, home just within reach, that was when an albeit playful shout from an all-too-familiar voice rung out from behind him. 

“Wait for me, Vyachik! You know I won’t find your place without you there!” 

Give it another second, and Viacheslav already stopped and turned around to face one of the few he would stop for. Alexei was there, all right, though taking a moment to catch his breath. Viacheslav then took that same moment to head back over to his friend. Rays of golden sunshine lit up the pale green in Alexei’s eyes as he broke out a matching grin, already eager for conversation once again, asking for suggestions of how they could spend their time together that evening. 

Viacheslav was quick to respond with a grin of his own, describing to Alexei a game on his mind that he figured would be even more fun should they play together. Resuming the walk home was no problem for their conversation either. 

How could Viacheslav not smile around Alexei? He had such a cheery aura to him, smiling even when others weren’t, reminding others that things would be okay, skipping through the halls on good days, going the extra mile to turn celebrations even more festive. Perhaps laughter really was contagious, at least with Viacheslav, because he often found himself smiling, beaming in a good mood whenever Alexei was too.

Hi, Vyachik, how are you?? I hope you find this sometime today, I just wanted to put this together for your birthday, because you mean so much to me after all! 

Where to start? Oh, yeah... happy 21st birthday! It’s a bit weird to think you’re already 21... wow, the years sure go by, don’t they? 

I remember when I first met you in that practice room some ten years ago, when both of us hadn’t been training for very long. Before you let your hair grow, when it was still that dark brownish. We were put together to learn and practice our first choreography. We started learning the dance, then we talked for a bit. I found out you really liked rap music and thought about making your own. We found out we were two years apart, and that we went to different schools, but after how much fun we had talking to each other that evening, we decided we’d still keep in touch. 

And I’m so glad we did! I remember the times when we’d catch up while training after school. Dancing together, sharing songs and stories from other classes. But that wasn’t enough for us, we wanted to spend more time together, and I’m so glad that worked out! 

When we would stay at each others’ houses... well, mine more often than yours, since your parents didn’t like it whenever you spoke up, which was ridiculous, so of course I defended you every time. And at my place, we all loved it when you were there, you helped us cook and told us your stories, Anya and Misha loved having you around too! 

When we would go out to lots of places together, we would get lunch and ice cream, and you would teach me some things about parkour... I was never as good as you are, though you were still also great at teaching me! And then we would play our favorite games and watch movies when we got home, and find even more things to talk about! Remember those nights when we would fall asleep next to each other, and we were both too cozy to move? 

And not to mention how much we’ve been through, how much we’ve been there for each other... I really have to thank you for helping me find the resolve to not let those bullies get to me so much... and, I was always so happy to listen to what you had to say even if no one else was. I’m so glad I could help you find the courage to start speaking up like you had always wanted to! It’s so wonderful to hear more of your thoughts or just those snarky comments of yours! 

Vyachik, you may seem cold and insensitive to others on the outside, but I know that’s because opening up to people, especially after how badly things went with your family and others, isn’t the easiest for you. I don’t mind at all that you’re taking your time to open up to the others in Thin Ice, I can tell it would be a bit overwhelming to meet that many new people at once, even if you do have a lot to say to each of them. 

But have my two cents... you’re so funny and so interesting, so cool to be around, and you’re such a great friend to have when you do open up... and I couldn’t be happier that I’m one of the special ones you can really be yourself around! I wouldn’t trade anything for all our memories together from all the years we’ve been friends, and I’m looking forward to making more memories with you and the others in the future! I purple you so much!

1. Who wakes up first? - Alexei tends to wake up first whenever it’s sunny, and even has this knack for helping Viacheslav wake up when he just can’t get going some mornings. On days when the weather isn’t as nice, who wakes up first really depends on how well each slept, how they’re feeling, and sometimes how the previous day went. 

8. Who gets extremely competitive playing Mario Kart? - Viacheslav. He Loves racing games (and Mario Kart is among the best, he and Alexei agree) and tends to get super competitive when playing them. Though, he’ll be happy for Alexei if he wins. 

12. Who does the hands-over-the-eyes “guess who” thing? - Alexei! Even though he’s shorter than Viacheslav he still does it. Viacheslav finds it so cute whenever Alexei does The Thing so he’ll humor him unless he’s in a bad mood. Sometimes when he can tell Alexei is bored, Viacheslav does The Thing with him too. 

13. Who points out a dog when they see one? - Alexei, every time. Even when Viacheslav is the first of the two to notice the dog, Alexei is always the first to gush on about how cute said dog is. 

25. Who mistakes salt for sugar? - Viacheslav, quite a bit, and he feels like a clown whenever he realizes he’s got it wrong. Alexei just laughs and lets him know it’s okay. 

Vladimir/Vasili: 

1. Who wakes up first? - On most if not all mornings, Vladimir. Some mornings he’ll stay in bed and keep cuddling Vasili while waiting for him to wake up, other mornings he’ll have so much energy he can’t wait so he springs out of bed to grab his morning coffee in the kitchen, where Vasili will meet him and get his morning tea. 

8. Who gets extremely competitive playing Mario Kart? - Both can be Very Competitive when they’re in the mood! Both will aggressively race and knock everyone else out of the way, though Vladimir is more likely to use his powerups to cause problems on purpose. He has done this several times and has gotten very good at throwing powerups and accelerating simultaneously. 

12. Who does the hands-over-the-eyes “guess who” thing? - Vladimir! He loves doing The Thing, and doing something cute/affectionate to Vasili when he least expects it in general. Vasili is quite startled and very flustered every time, he loves how affectionate Vladimir is. 

13. Who points out a dog when they see one? - Usually Vasili, who’s delighted to see animals around in general, though Vladimir is often the first to notice and point out more hyperactive dogs. They both may try to play with the dog they see if it seems friendly, the others even suggest they adopt a dog of their own when they settle down together. Which they probably will! 

25. Who mistakes salt for sugar? - Both do from time to time, Vasili a bit more often. They can just laugh it off when it happens. And, Vladimir has definitely used this to his advantage for pranks, some of his best ones have involved swapping the salt and the sugar. He’ll be giggling and about to snort as he watches one of the others pour in either salt or sugar the next time they cook or bake, and as Vasili notices he’ll be like, “you did something funny, didn’t you?” which Vladimir replies with “maybe” and another fit of giggling. Which tells Vasili what he wants to know. He doesn’t tell anyone and waits with Vladimir for his victim’s reaction, they both burst out laughing when it happens.

Thin Ice’s Halloween!

More specifically, everyone’s costumes this year! 

You bet the Thin Ice boys had a blast this Halloween 😁😁😁 sooo, you might be asking, what did they all dress up as? Here we go! 

Viacheslav and Alexei go as Thing 1 and Thing 2. Tbh, who else would be Thing 1 and Thing 2? Boris agrees to go as the Cat in the Hat, and it’s not long before he’s speaking in rhymes in both Russian and English. Quite the experience! 

Vasili and Vladimir go as detectives looking for people who have stolen kisses... but leave it up to the others to point out that those two steal kisses from each other all the time 😉 

Valeri, Sergei, and Aleksandr all wear matching pastel outfits, but each in different colors. Their concept is that they’re princes of a fairy dimension they all rule together! 

Volodya dresses up as Dracula, but little does anyone know he’s wearing his giraffe onesie underneath. Yes, Volodya owns a giraffe onesie and he loves it so much, no one can change my mind. After all, he’s serious on the outside but soft and cute on the inside!
