the end of zexal was a fucking mess but it gave me my absolute favorite form of keyshipping that i wish there was more of in fandom

*tosses this here* UHHH Zexal Styled Fynn? fynn au where he's a side character in Zexal, doing his musician stuff with that one Idol and he's like the jonathan young of the zexal world. He's just in japan doing tour stuff with a fellow musician.

also set in my au of zexal where mythical beings and creatures are more prevalent, and there is more alien races. Fynn's race is "???" but he knows astral is there and he's like "You two there! The kid with his blue glowing friend"

It's also set in zexal 2 where his idol friend (the one Girag likes) is controlled by a barian and him and Yuma do a tag team duel against her and someone else. Or alternatively he is scene on a poster during the mythyrian number war. He is probably scene prev during the duel carnival as a guest preformer but he does have his mohawk.

i think zexal should have atleast one more bearded character and another with a mohawk. It's a fun aesthetic. Rockstar feral man

Might as well plug my fic here. It’s not gimmickshipping but it is Reiji/Thomas (I call it Demonstringshipping)!! It’s on A03 and I have the comments set to registered only but not the fic itself. Also Thomas uses they/them here.. pls read.. I like it lots and am really proud of it.. (also it’s in a series with a couple other fics so..)

Under the cut about the ship name LOL

So it’s called Demonstringshipping which was something that I came up with very literally. The demon is for Reiji, with his D/D/D monsters, and the string(s) is for Thomas with his puppets and gimmick puppet of strings since I love that card.

It could be read as it’s spelled but the s in shipping can also make it read as strings-hipping so take it as you will!

It was originally going to be demonpuppetshipping but this read so much cuter so lol.

Also in comparison to puppets, which symbolize something that feels a little crueler than Thomas actually is, strings are a double-sided coin of being something you can control while also being controlled by. Meanwhile, with puppets there’s the puppet and the puppet master, so strings fit a bit better in this regard.

Plus while not using strings Reiji doesn’t puppeteer people, he watches and controls them through his intellect which can double as “strings being metaphorical knowledge over people”.

ANYWAY I JUST ADORE AND LOVE THEM SO MUCH THEY’VE BEEN MY OTP FOR LIKE HALF A YEAR even if I also love pairing them with Ryoken!!!

Also I have thoughts about Yusaku/Ai/Ryoken/Reiji/Thomas is anyone wants to hear about them.. ship name included..

rewatched yugioh bonds beyond time for the first time in honestly possibly a decade and spending an hour and a half to watch a fifty minute movie while my now-adult brother who still actively plays tears it to absolute shreds over the many rules it completely ignores and cards it just makes up is the single best thing yugioh has ever gifted me

An interesting difference in the manga compared to the anime is that Astral is more expressive from the start. In the anime, Astral had more time to learn about emotions and he became more expressive with time, while in the manga (that is shorter than the anime), he is like that since the duel against Shark:

And I love this. It's a little change for the duel (that plays the same as the anime), but a big change for Astral as character, letting us see how he would have reacted to certain things if he were more emotional and expressive from the start.

(I love both versions, I just think it's very interesting how the anime and manga are different even at the start, where they were very similar until the duel against Kaito. And I'm also very happy to see more Astral's expressions)

Spent my afternoon today making these field center edits based on zexal for my utopia deck that I'm building anyway I'm kinda happy with the edit and wanted to share it lol. Also explanation for for reason of the second version I just thought that zexal I resembled yuma more so I put it on the left side (the red side) and put zexal II on the right (blue side) because I thought zexal II started resembling astral a bit more and zexal III on the center because it's like the perfect fusion of both but that's probably just in my head.

Btw I only noticed 2 mistakes on it after I started writing this post but as much as it hurts it's 1 am so I'm gonna fix it only tomorrow. Can't believe i spent 5 hours on these but still didnt notice those mistakes.

Edit: fixed the first one might fix the other version some other time

So I’m not really into the Barian Emps as other people in the fandom are (though I did used to be). I haven’t watched ZEXAL specifically for Barian content in a loooong time, but! In my teens, the answer was Rio/Marin/Merag! I liked her aesthetic, her special clairvoyance powers, and thought her Barian design was just gorgeous. I still do, honestly!
