People thinking that the act of contacting or summoning angels is somehow more safe than doing the same with a demon is possibly the single most impressive act of media manipulation in the paranormal community.

Ok, so... What’s with people assuming my appearance is meant for their benefit?
A while ago, I was talking to a guy on Grindr (I know, I know.) and when I mentioned that, unlike my profile pic, my hair was blue, he responded by asking me WHY. I didn’t quite understand the question, so I just said “Well, I dyed it.” and he responded “Well, I know that but WHY?” By then I was pretty confused by the question. I mean, isn’t it a given? I did it because I wanted to; what other reason did there need to be? I told him this, but he kept pressing me to explain my reasoning for it, like there HAD to be some deeper meaning to my hair color. He told me, “It just feels like you’re trying to make some kind of statement. I just can’t figure out what it is.”
That’s when it really struck me that this guy genuinely had this reconcilable conception that my appearance was crafted, not for my benefit, but for the benefit of others. That all of my choices were made based on what others would take out of it. It’s not an exaggeration to say that this realization shook me to my core. It just wasn’t a concept that had ever, in a million years, occurred to me.
And this is a thing that happens a lot, as it turns out. People think that because I wear eyeliner or dye my hair or paint my nails black, that... I’m just trying to communicate something. Like my very existence is nothing more than some sort of statement that exists just for their benefit.
Once that idea entered my perception, I started noticing a lot of things like that, and I just... don’t understand. Do these people really not realize that my hair is still blue when I’m sitting in my room alone, and, like... that’s the whole point?
When I dye my hair, I don’t look at the dye and consider the MEANING behind each color before I decide what to use. I don’t carefully select all of my clothes to set forth some sort of message for the world. In most cases, I’m only peripherally in control of how I look on any given day, and it’s all about how I feel, or how I want to feel.
See, when I decide to paint my nails black, I’m not usually very careful about it. It always turns out kind of messy. But that doesn’t matter to me because I’m not doing it for what they look like. I don’t care if I have perfect nails, because I’m not even thinking about what they might look like when someone else looks at them; I’m doing it because I like the way I feel when *I* look at them, and even when I DON’T look at them. I could sit there and meticulously craft my perfect nails so that they would look oh-so-precise and perfect for everyone else, but that is just way more energy than I want to put into anything, and for what? So other people can react a certain way to my fingers? I don’t get it.
Recently I started experimenting with using eyeliner pens and stamps to make freckle patterns on my face, sometimes with stars. I don’t do it to say something or anything. Obviously I recognize that it gives people an impression of me, but they’re going to get an impression of me no matter what I do or don’t do, so I just go with however I feel at the time. If I have blue hair and black nails and star freckles when I exit the house, the only person that’s really for is me. The only thing it means is that makes me feel happy or comfortable or badass or cute on that day, and it would be the same if I decided to stay in. I could sit in my house with cute star freckles and dark smudgy eyeliner and fishnets under my torn overalls and be perfectly happy, because the only one it is ever really for is me. Anyone else getting enjoy out of it is just a pleasant coincidence.
My existence is not just an object meant for your pleasure and critique.
Does this happen to other people a lot too? Does this mentality bother you too? Can anyone explain this kind of mentality, because I still don’t REALLY get it...

Malus sylvestris; European Crabapple.
Those who remember the old ways say that when harvesting apples, you must leave a few on the ground below the trees to appease the fairies that gather between the trunks at night. Places where apples grow are magical, in-between places. Be careful of whom you meet there; never give your name and always be polite.

May Gaia bind you in stone. Your flesh shall become clay and your bones shall turn to oil. Only in long ages shall you be discovered, and no-one will remember you. That alone shall be your worth to the World.

Basic Necromancy: An Ouija Spell
The use of an Ouija Board, Talking Board or Spirit Board is among the simplest and most basic forms of necromancy. While the use of a spell is not always necessary to use an Ouija Board, preparatory spellwork takes a lot of the guesswork out of the communication, helping to ensure that you are only talking to spirits which you want to communicate with, as well as laying a contingency to make sure no spirits linger beyond their intended communication. This spell is no substitute for knowing and understanding the basic operation of an Ouija Board, however, so always make sure you fully understand how to use the board, as you would with any other tool. That being said, so long as you understand what you are doing, you will be in absolutely no danger from using an Ouija Board, to spite what popular culture would have you believe.
First, you must have an Ouija Board and Planchette (or a small, clear glass like a shot glass to be used as a planchette. The board doesn’t have to be a ‘proper’ board either; even a piece of paper with the appropriate letters and words written out will work just fine. Just make sure you have The full alphabet, numbers 0-9, “Hello”, “Goodbye”, “Yes” and “No”.) Additionally, you will need some dried Wormwood, wormwood incense, or Wormwood candles, as well as two black candles, and a lighter or matches. If using dried wormwood, you will also want a fire-safe bowl or incense holder.
Before beginning, cover all mirrors in the ritual space with cloth (If doing the ritual in your home, cover all mirrors in the house). Place the candles on either side of the Ouija Board. Put the Wormwood in the bowl and light it. Holding the bowl with smoldering wormwood, slowly walk in circles around the board, making sure to encompass the area that all participants will sit. Walk in a counter-clockwise pattern, encircling the area a total of four times. As you do this, you may evoke the names of any you wish, especially deities of death.
When you have completed the circle, set the remaining wormwood to smolder near the board and have all participants sit around the board, then you will place the planchette in the middle of the board and have all participants place their fingertips on the planchette. Proceed to say the following incantation in a loud, clear voice to evoke the spirits to communicate.
Veni mortuus spiritu. Veni mundus spiritu. Veni caelorum spiritu.
We call and invite you to this space, at this time, to commune.
Visitas nos venit (Full name of the deceased to be communicated with*) spiritu!
If you are having trouble making contact, you may repeat the above incantation as many times as you wish until you get a response. When you have finished speaking with any spirits using the board, place the Planchette on the “Goodbye” and say the following incantation as you extinguish the candles and incense.
Exite (full name of the deceased*) spiritu!
Our visitation has come to an end.
Exite caelorum spiritu. Exite mundus spiritu. Exite mortuus spiritu.
Return now from where you’ve come. I command you now, go in peace and do not linger.
If you continue to sense spirits, repeat the incantation loudly and firmly until you feel the spirit has left the space. Once the spirit has left, it is safe to uncover the mirrors and put away the board.
*If the name of the spirit is unknown and the spirit dwells in your house, substitute the name with “domus”

Tried painting my nails for the first time tonight. It was hard, but it doesn't look too bad after I cleaned up the edges. I think I like it. Matte black nail polish too!
