Day 5: AU Track: 'Walking The Wire' - Imagine Dragons (Spotify / YouTube)

Obi-Wan sighed, blocking blaster bolts even as she failed to stop the small smile. Because she does know Quinlan, and he knows her. Always has and always will, no matter what may happen.

Yes this is a full, thought out AU. Nothing I have really written yet besides some QuinObi snippets and some little found family things, but none the less, it is the QuinObi story I have the most thoughts on hehe. Version without all the lights below the cut (this makes Quinlan's injuries more visible, as a heads up).

Later: Cody: You have a Jedi jail? Obi-Wan: No. Cody: Sir? Obi-Wan: Seemed like a safe bet. ::bitter: He obviously ignored everything else I tried to teach him. Cody: Jedi can marry? Obi-Wan: Yes. Cody: Jedi. As in you. Obi-Wan: As in... Cody: ::suddenly two inches closer:: Obi-Wan: ::squeaking:: Me? Cody: ::smoulders:: Obi-Wan: After the war. Chain of command. Would be inappropriate. Because reasons. Cody: I see.

Two days later: Fox: ::eyeing the assortment of munitions Cody's just laid on his desk, including, but not limited to, slug throwers, thermal detonators, a handful of droid poppers and a rotary cannon:: So you say that the chancellor's a direct threat to the military command of the GAR and that I get to kill him if I agree to mute my external audio pickup and follow your orders? Cody: Yes. Is there a problem? ::looms menacingly:: Fox: ::jumps up:: No takesies backsies! Thorn! Thire! It's Lifeday and Cody's just got us all a present!

R2D2 is having none of that shit. Time to head back to his original family -- the handmaidens of Naboo. Who will let him have a little murder. As a treat.)

rex doing his dramatic little identity reveal every time he meets someone. the way he flips the hood of his cloak back just screams "i used to work alongside a number of sassy jedi and boy did they loooove being all mysterious behind their droopy fucking robes"

he definitely picked that shit up from ahsoka who learned it from anakin who learned it from the one and only obi-wan kenobi. they're a lineage of drama queens.

Anakin and Slavers

One thing that I always liked about George´s work in relation to Anakin and slavery is how out of the left field he and Dave Filoni wrote Anakin´s relationship to the people who owned or saw him as a property at one point or another and yet it makes total sense for his character.

For example kid Anakin has no doubt that Slavery is horrible and at 9 he is actually working towards developing technology to help free his Mom, friends and himself from it. He hates with capital H the fact those people have control over the life and death of other people but at the same time he has great compassion and kindness which his mother helped nurture. This along with the fact that Watto was the only adult male figure who was around during his early chilldhood, this complicated his feelings towards slavers in a very tragic way.

Anakin feared Watto´s violence and didn��t for a moment doubt he would have been willing to sell off his mother or him if the customer got to a big enough price but at the same time he listens to his advice when he travels to the dune sea to do his work with the jawas and his pov is almost as important as his Mom´s, in the novelization of TPM Anakin remembers not to talk to strangers or to get close to Tuskens Raiders camps thanks to Watto´s advice.

So in Anakin´s mind, Watto is someone he fears but also someone he takes advice from, respects to a point, sometimes gets sassy to and actually listens to almost as a father figure BUT at the same time he has no doubt he would activate the killing chip if he tried to escape.

Pain/abuse/fear mixed with care/advice(sounds familiar?) Anakin knows slavery is awful but he can´t help but see Watto as a person because of who Anakin is, Annie is a kind and understanding person and to point may justify Watto as a "Man of bussines" and "Not as bad a other masters" "It could be worse" but he definitely doesn´t trust him in the same way he does his mother, she is blood, she is family. He and Mom are a team.They shared their secrets.

The first time Anakin saw Watto again after being freed, he was a Jedi with training, almost a knight and the first thing he does to the guy who beat him and his Mom some years ago is to ask him if he can help with the ship parts Watto is working on because he noticed Watto is struggling and his bussines is falling down compared to how it was when Anakin was a kid. When Watto noticed who Anakin was he didn´t reject him and accepted his congratulations but keep himself appart, hoping to learn about his mother whereabouts.

When Watto told Anakin he sold Shmi, Anakin doesn´t have a reaction, he takes Watto´s justification of "I am sorry Ani but bussines are bussines and anyway the person who bought her freed her and married her" Anakin doubts it´s as good a picture as Watto is talking about but he takes his justification and leaves.

When he meets Owen, Beru and Cliegg he sees they are indeed nice people and the reason for his mothers suffering is something completely different that they were not able to stop so he doesn´t blame them for her fate. When Anakin lost his mother it was only natural for him to seek a family, someone he could share how he really felt and his secrets, he could not be part of the Lars family but Padme was willing to love him so she became his new confirmed family, right along with Obi-Wan and Ahsoka but while he had to show himself different to them, he didn´t had to do that with Padme, just like he did with his mother.

In the clone wars Anakin shows again this complex view of slavers with Queen Miraj Scintel, the cartoon goes out of it´s way to show she looked at him as pretty property and he didn´t let her forget that and actually it was strongly suggested he may have been raped by her at some point to keep safe Obi-Wan, Rex, Ahsoka as well as the people they wanted to save while he got enough soldiers to stage their rescue. Anakin had a plan the whole time just as he did as a kid so he keep his cool even when he saw another slave choose suicide over keep being under the control of Scintel. Yet in the end when the Queen was killed by Count Dooku Anakin felt sorry for her, he could not help it.

So this mix of rejection/anger/hate/disgust towards slavers mixed with pity/understanding which is something that was part of what made Anakin a good person gets used agaisn´t him in his relationship with Palpatine.

He first shows himself as the father figure Anakin thought he could find in Qui-Gon before he died a better father figure than Watto had been, a father figure that didn´t reject this title like ObiWan did, Palpatine did this to get his trust as a young child and later young adult and then he showed himself as the real sith master he actually was, Palpatine knew that Anakin wasn´t a stranger to be treated as property by people who showed themselves as good advicers or somehow not as bad as others despite their actions. So Anakin´s initial compassion, kindness and understanding for people that abused him is played agaisn´t him to make him fall to the darkside and chain himself again to another worse master who didn´t just seek to use his skills and body but who wanted his soul as well.

And the same reasons why Anakin justified Watto at first when he was a young kid also applied to Palpatine, he may be a sith but he ran the Republic better than those corrupt politicians, he isn´t a perfect Emperor but in Padme´s absence he is better than the alternatives. He isn´t as bad as a master and anyway I deserve this because I fell to the darkside and nobody can come back from that, if he abuses me I got this coming because I choose this and he still teaches me the ways of the force, he rescued me from Mustafar when Obi-Wan left me to die and he didn´t have to, he is all I have left.

So once Anakin´s voice died down Vader was left with many reasons to say to Palpatine "What´s your bidding my master?" because in his mind master isn´t a word that contradicts father and Palpatine became his father in all but name, this makes George´s words about Anakin fatal flaw being the fact he loved too much make complete sense and it´s a tragedy.

I really agree on your opinion of Vader being husk of human being. After losing Padme and doing everything basically for nothing, I had similar thoughts about him more depressed and going about his life on auto-pilot. It's a really sad thought and you can't help but feel for him. Though I would argue that he would have the occasional tantrum once in a while and destroy something when being reminded of his old life before going back into that husk-like state, but i think your interpretation would be the most impactful and makes the most sense.

I do however find some potential humour in it though, specifically in Obi-Wan's reaction upon hearing this when they're both Force-ghosts. With Obi-Wan not really knowing what Anakin well pre-Vader and his past experience dealing with Maul, he probably thought Anakin would become as unhinged as Maul when he turned. So after what happened on Mustafar, Obi-Wan probably thought Vader had spent years looking for him specifically given the situation, only to learn that he didn't even spare a thought about him. He was just doing his job and Obi-Wan doesn't really know what to make of it afterwards.

Anakin: What are you talking about? I barely every thought about you in the time I was Vader.

Obi-Wan: W-what? But, haven't you been looking for me for nearly two decade?

Anakin: I was looking for all remaining Jedi that opposed the Empire in that time. You were one of them so of course I did.

Obi-Wan: But weren't you looking all over the galaxy to get revenge on me? With happened on Mustafar, I thought you would've been more determined to find me.

Anakin: I mean...I thought about you, just not a lot.

Meanwhile Luke Ahsoka, and the other Jedi force ghosts listening in, looking uncomfortable as they side eye the other side of the room like : ._.

Ah, yes of course! Like, don't get me wrong, he totally was petty enough to sometimes just want to inflict his own pain outwardly because whatever pain he might inflict on someone is still...a tiny itty fraction of the torture he goes through 24/7, and he would totally throw tantrums from time to time, particularly when he felt worse than the usual.

Also yes that's....hilarious adnljkfdskjnsdf. Obi-Wan out there like "BUT YOU TREAT ME LIKE A STRANGER AND IT FEELS SO ROUGH, NO YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO STOOP SO LOW" instead of Anakin, which what you usually see around it's extremelly funny and dumb I love it for them 😂😂

Luke intervening like "Obi-Wan, why are you so obssesed with my dad, let it go" the ultimate nail on the clownery coffin (and he's totally doing it on purpose because Luke can be a sassy bitch).

okay but Ahsoka's face after Huyang asks her 'where are they going' and she genuinly says 'I don't know' with a smile plastered on her face, with all the cockiness of Anakin and the pure sassiness of Obi-Wan meanwhile being just honest and excited and feeling so light and herself and I love that moment so much, I feel hopeful, I love this series, this is peak Star Wars, you can't change my mind.

Vader and Obi Wan giving off ✨Divorced Parents Coparenting Vibes✨ when they argue over what's better for Anakin.

Anakin lurches violently between "OMG I have a Dad??" and "Ew, you're not the Dad of me". Thanks to Vader's sudden appearance, Anakin forgets about the Padme situation for a loooooong while.

Which kind of was Vader's plan anyways. Now Palpatine can't blackmail or threaten Anakin with Padme or the marriage situation at all.

Ok, so I was supposed to draw one small fanart, but I got carried away and created an au ^^''

Jedi cats Au

(Disaster lineage edition)

Yoda: Small green cat with tufts of white fur on his tail tip and across his spine. He loves being cuddled by the younglings as he tells them stories(basically their therapy, grandfather cat) and going on occasional trips to Dagobah for meditation (at least, that's his excuse). What he really does there is hunting frogs(he claims they're good for his bones) and camping out in the swamp(the whole trip traumatizing Dooku in the process).

Dooku: Huge white cat with brittle yellow eyes and spiked-up fur. He doesn't change much in his cat form, but when he does, he spends most of his time sunning himself on the council chairs(you can't blame him, cats can't resist such a good sunning spot), skulks around the temple corridors looking elegant and graceful, and steals sith holocrons out of nowhere so he could 'study' them(they were later confiscated and thrown out of the temple when Qui found out). He never lets anybody pet him except for Sifo, Jocasta, Qui, and sometimes Yoda(his adoptive father figure), or Obi-wan(his grandson whom he's secretly proud of)

Qui-Gon: Greyish brown cat with long silky fur and leaf-green eyes. He mostly hangs out on the temple's huge tree or goes on trips to Lothal to have tea with Loth-cats and wolves. (The Loth-cats kind of worship him as their 'god', and the wolves invite him and his apprentice for night strolls and 'singing to the moon' meetings)

He also randomly adopts kittens(padawans; in this case, Obi-wan, Anakin, and recently Ahsoka)

Obi-wan: Small auburn cat with darker splotches and grey-blue eyes. He's smaller than his apprentice but twice the sassiness. Cody loves to cuddle him and stroke his soft fur for hours while talking about how his day went(Obi doesn't mind^^). As a kitten, he constantly kept Qui company while he studied at night(at least that's what he says when Qui complains about his student/son being annoyingly cute and knocking over his mug of tea on purpose every five minutes).

Anakin: Brown tabby emo with sky-blue eyes. He hates sand, is very chaotic in many ways, and has a talent for annoying Obi(he actually passes down his 'abilities' to Ahsoka, who becomes more like her master). He also holds a record of being the most troublesome padawan in existence.

Despite all this, Padme finds him adorable (he often sneaks out of the temple in his cat form to meet his gf), but Obi-wan and Ahsoka know better(sure, he's nice and charming, yet can also be pretty stupid and reckless).

Ahsoka: Sleek, lithe, orange cat with white tail and blue stripes. Her Lekku still exists in her cat form as well as her facial markings(the Lekku are used to communicate with other cats or Jedi, and also play an important part in balancing their bodies while they leap agily or pelt across obstacles at high speed). 

Toruguti cats have very short, smooth fur on their bodies(the pelts are mostly an orangish hue, with blue stripes appearing on the back of their flanks as they get older), but their tails are often white, bushy and flecked with blue stripes.

She's one of the 501'th's favorites because she often hangs out with Rex and the clones(sharing stories, playing games... etc)(the clones especially love placing random things on her head until she moves). As her species are carnivores, she has an instinct for hunting small animals(sometimes leaving her half-dead prey on Anakin's desk like the cheeky adorable prankster she is).

Some Rex Raises Luke AU

Last - Next

Rex helps Luke customize his armor, because armor that fits is armor that will protect. After the Battle of Yavin, he paints Jaig eyes on Luke’s helmet.

Din knew what the Jaig eyes meant, then he saw Luke in action, and then he was like “yeah I’m in love”

Luke grew up around clones, his ba’voude, and he doesn’t have favorites… (that’s a lie, it’s Echo)

Additionally, he’s learnt a lot of tricks from Echo about getting his way with Rex or just joking around, being sassy, causing problems, etc etc…

Rex cried when he met Grogu

Obi-Wan taught Luke for more than a few hours this time, but a lot of it was over the holocron because he was still afraid he’d turn Luke into Vader… when Luke gets a bit older, he finally comes around and helps him out personally, after a lot of self work.

Cody and Obi-Wan don’t live on Tatooine, but they do keep their general location a secret. Luke knows where, Rex knows where, they like to pop by for surprise visits.

Luke meets Phoenix squad pretty early on, through Rex. He has some beef with Kanan for his lack of trust for his buir. Is great friends with everyone else, accept Chopper- doesn’t stop him from trying.

Luke mixed dark Jedi clothes and armor like his father did, but add the helmet!!

Labyrinth Hearts by @chocmarss (rexsoka, T, rebels-era, in-progress multi-chapter): We have such a need for time-travel in this ship and this fic, while just a few chapters in, is delivering! Post-Malachor Rebels-era fic holds such a special place in my heart and I love love love this one.

I want to inject it directly into my veins. I started it at 11:30 and stayed up until 3 am reading it because I had to keep clicking to the next chapter.

Poltergeist Darling by @thesistersarcheron (feysand, E, in-progress multi-chapter): Is it even a Feysand fic if Rhys isn't batshit insane for Feyre? As a lover of spooky gothic romances, I clicked into this fic so intrigued by the premise (Rhys bringing Feyre back from the dead after she dies UTM) and the writing drew me in IMMEDIATELY. A serie is made about Satine, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon's year on the run on Mandalore, and every episode roughly talks about the events of each month.

We explore the non-war aspects of Mandalorian culture, like music, food and language (all through Satine), the history of the planet and its people, and also aspects of Jedi culture.

We see Qui-Gon having to put up with two sassy teenagers who can't stand each other and being caught up in their crossfire.

We see Satine having her first kill as she tries to protect the others, and how that death and the future ones she has to take are going to effect her, as she just tries to survive as the prey of a hunt.

We see Satine teaching Obi-Wan how to use blasters and vibroblades, while Obi teaches her katas and lightsaber stances.

We see the two of them get separeted from Qui-Gon and having to survive on their own, and finally managing to start a friendship.

We see Satine talking about her family, of her father, killed in the war, of her mother, who dissappeared no one knows where, of her sister, that she had to leave behind.

We see Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan intetacting with every kind of strange creature or insects that they can find on that destroyed world, while Satine tries to convince then to "just continue walking, they're gonna find us!"

We see the looming threat of Death Watch always on their necks, waiting for the right moment to attack.

At the end, after a final action showdown, we see Satine taking off her beskar armor and drop her helmet on the floor, starting a discourse to the other Mandalorians present there.
