What is a character that you did not expect you would like but ended up being obsessed with?

Hi thank you for the question! You have no idea what can of worms you just opened haha! My answer is Obi-Wan but wait- let me explain!

I first watched the Star Wars movies with my family when I was 5 or 6 in the order that they were released. So originals then prequels. Over the years, we watched 2003 Clone Wars, the TCW movie, and then we would catch some episodes of TCW from time to time when we were somewhere that had cable TV and was playing the show on Cartoon Network.

My little child brain did not see any nuance whatsoever because I was a child and therefore all my favorite characters were characters I thought were cool or the epitome of #girlpower (I'm a lesbian. I was obsessing over them in a lesbian way. I did not know this. Go women.) To me, Obi-Wan was just a white man. He was nice but he was also bland and boring. I didn't really touch his action figure when I would play with the Star Wars ones my brothers and I shared.

Last year I decided to watch Star Wars in chronological order of events rather than release date. And I really wanted to sit down and actually watch TCW because I'd only seen odd episodes here and there as a kid. In my rewatch, I was struck by Obi-Wan's kind heart, undying belief in the Jedi Order and the light side of the Force, sass and wit mingling with posh Brit attitude, the way he just slays nonstop (even in flavors of drowned wet cat and pathetic meow meow), and his overwhelming vibes of bisexuality. I was quite taken by him. He went from being just some white guy to being My Special White Guy.

Vader - He's intimidating and I had his lightsaber. (Came in a three pack of Vader, Luke, and Obi-Wan. My mom went ham for things that came in three's or multiples of three because I'm a triplet and it's convenient)

C-3P0 - He literally went to the school of cuntology. (Special honor goes to his husband R2. Inseparable comedy and fuck-shit-up duo.)

Leia - She's a badass and I'm a lesbian. Slave Leia outfit did something to my developing brain.

Padmé - She's competent and I'm a lesbian. Also I would regularly check out the Star Wars visual dictionaries from the library or just look at them while I was there (I would go every Wednesday) and stare her costumes for way too long. Genuinely, I was (and still am) obsessed with every single costume they gave her.

Ahsoka - Jedi who's a girl and also a kid like me???!? Instant fave.

Ventress - Oaughhhgg drop dead gorgeous woman with two beautiful red lightsabers and the way she fights????? Guards, take me away

Aurra Sing - Genuinely think this one was because I'm a lesbian. I recall checking out a novel where she was the mc along with a comic that featured her from the library and the only thing from them I remember is looking at the pictures of her and thinking she's so pretty.

Mace Windu - Special honors go to him because his lightsaber color is the best. When I dove into Star Wars fandom spaces for the first time last year, I could not fathom why I kept seeing people say stuff about "Windu hate". I was under the impression the only thing to critique was they didn't let Samuel L Jackson say motherfucker even once. I stand by this.

you said you needed inspiration so: I’ve been thinking about how did Obi come up with the name “Ben”? Like maybe it was given to him by the reader when they were young and in love but because of order 66 he was led to believe his love (the reader) was dead and to keep the memory of her alive he adopt “Ben” as his new name.

Feel free to change the story line but I’d love to read your idea on how he came up with “Ben” and since my idea is a bit angsty I hope for a happy ending (maybe they reunite or where never really apart-that doesnt really makes sense lol).

Bandages

You made it to the peak, the mountain in your village which was fabled to hold the answer to your dreams if anyone dared to climb it, to see the sunrise. This was a regular routine mostly because it afforded you with some peace of mind, getting your body to focus on a task rather than the worries of running a farm on your own, especially with harvest season close at hand.

What even were your dreams that you longed to come true? You weren’t sure.

Even in your current circumstance, you were content with everything you had, it was not in your nature to want for more. But the sun slowly creeping up from the horizon was always a sight to behold. It was also the exact moment you saw him. As he sat there in what looked like well pressed robes, his eyes closed as he took in the warmth of the sun, his hair molten bronze that it turned golden when it caught the light.

You were sure for a moment that he was an angel, a divine being living here in the mountain top, the one that possibly grants your wishes. His eyes opened and those blue orbs turned right to you. As though he had sensed you. You stood your ground, mostly frozen out of fear.

“Ah, I had a feeling someone might show up.”, he smiled and it averted your worries.

“I’ve been hurt and couldn’t quite walk back. Would you happen to –

Only then did you see his wound, down his leg, a huge tear down the length of his calf that almost looked like a burn mark.

“Oh dear”, you exclaimed as you rushed to his aid.

“ -have some bandages.”, he finished his sentence but his tone had softened, his eyes focused on your features as you glanced back at him. Almost as if he was surprised too.

“I do have some supplies but I would need to take you to the infirmary. A lot of the republic troopers get aid there.”, you explained to which he thanked you.

“Was it a droid?”, you asked as you bandaged his leg in an attempt to make conversation.

He looked at you as though he was putting together a response that would be easy for you to understand but then his eyes softened when he said, “It was my own fault, ignited my saber before it was needed.”, he huffed but your clueless gaze only made him more curious.

“You don’t know what I’m talking about, do you?”, he asked his brows furrowed together as though he was bemused.

“I’m afraid so.”, you smiled noting that he looked rather young, his hair grazing his shoulders, he was most likely around your own age.

“You don’t know what I am?”, he dug further, leaning closer with genuine perplexity.

“Are you the one that grants wishes to those who dare to climb the peak?”, you asked sarcastically to battle his entitlement as you tied the knot to secure the bandage.

“No.”, he smiled softly.

“Then I don’t know who you are.”, you assured him patting his ankle to let him know that he was free to go.

Your gaze however trickled back to the sight you had come to see, the sun shining over your little village and you sought a moment of rest in the quite.

“Beautiful.”, he said.

You smiled, the view was breathtaking and you could agree with the pleasant stranger on that but when you turned, his eyes were never on the landscape, they were on you.

That was how you had met him, three years ago. You had learnt he was a Jedi, he visited when he could, your little romance was a secret, making the long distance feel even lonelier. But every time you trekked to the peak, you would remember him.

But with his student now all grown up and his need in the capital winding down he found solace in your home. He had stayed for almost a month, and when he was here, he was different. He retired his robes and became a farmer along with you, embracing the mundane daily routines with new joy. Life felt complete and wonderful, as though your dreams had come true.

It was one of those nights, where you slept out in the fields, with summer in full swing, the sky was clear to see the stars and the weather was optimum to not carry blankets. He wore a long white tunic that under moonlight he looked out of this world, his hair was shorter now that it fell over his forehead and his beard added to his rustic appeal making you feel drunk just by looking at him. He trudged towards you where you were seated by a willow tree, the fields swayed in the midnight breeze, the wheat heads full of grain ready for harvest.

He laid down next to you to then place his head on your lap, your long satin slip was just as soft as his skin. How was it that with his golden hair he looked like he belonged to the sun but his blue eyes it was as though even the moon has a piece of it in him too?

You raked your fingers through his hair and told yourself this wasn’t a dream. Minutes turned to hours, filled with stories and laughter or the silence with only his hands talking, as they traced your jaw or the length of your legs. It then shifted to when he was narrating his difficulties with raising his padawan on his own, as you leaned back into his chest, that he felt like a parent and an elder brother, the responsibility at times too much to bear. But as he mumbled his story, you could feel his fingers in your hair, tugging on strands softly and when you tried to move away, he told you to stay still.

“What are you doing?”, you chuckled.

“Testing to see if I still remember.”, he spoke and you couldn’t turn to see his face but you were confused.

“Remember what?”, you asked quizzically fiddling with a stray strand of thread, to which he responded with placing your hair over your shoulder.

“There, all done.”, he said confidently.

He had braided your hair mid conversation, your fingers felt the weave as you touched your hair in the dark.

“Turns out I do remember, just a little rusty.”, he kissed your cheek and you sunk into his hold as you turned to him.

“My sweet Ben.”, you said softly, eyes full of admiration for the man who held you, the man you loved.

His eyes widened, it was a term of endearment he had never heard before.

“Ben?”, he asked you quietly.

You traced the rise of his cheek and pushed back his hair that had fallen forward.

“Because I met you on the mountain peak where dreams come true.”, you whispered, your eyes boring into his when he stilled and as the silence rushed in again with the breeze, he placed his lips on yours, kissing you like he needed to breathe, like this was the only thing that could keep him alive, only you could keep him alive.

And he woke up, in cold sweat, in the middle of nowhere, not in a field but in a dessert, with your warmth miles away, only a dream.

“Ben.”, someone exclaimed.

“Your shift starts in ten minutes, don’t bloody doze off.”, his manager in the meat store yelled as Obiwan rubbed his forehead.

No one knew who he was here. Because he went by a name no one knew, one that felt like home only when it left your lips and when it didn’t, it was a reminder of everything he had lost and a bandage for his torn spirit.

But for the Dancing with the Stars AU, I'm thinking ... hmmm~ definitely Age Difference, also the fact that Obikin are essentially co-workers or in some form of power imbalance (with Obi-Wan being the celebrity to Anakin's professional dancer). Hm ... for now, I can't think of much else apart from the more obvious things like how Obikin is toxic in general and all that jazz ... This really makes me happy, Christopher lee the actor of Count Dooku was such a kind man as much as he was a badass. If you’re bored look up his past and his Metal Christmas album. I think it was in attack of the clones special features that Ewan McGregor was just raving about him. Like really Star stuck. That’s where the idea really came from. Plus when you think of it, Dooku would of loved Obi-wan. Clam and collected, curious but able to behave and so clever. Quigonjinn cared for Obiwan but he was a maverick Jedi, dude was busy. So I always assumed obiwans early years was with Dooku. I do have a scene with him in the next chapter of bride of the sith!

As for Anakin, lol he just annoys Dooku. Yes Dooku knows Anakin is powerful in the force and a good sith/Jedi but the boy is full of himself and for whatever reason Obi-wan likes him. Anakin is full of himself, brute strengths his way to his goals and has a mouth. Everything Dooku dislikes in a person, don’t get him wrong. Anakin has his moments but those are far and between in Dookus mind.

1) Mike Nesmith!!! (The Monkees)

He's one of my earliest memories, I had to be around three years old. First crush started off strong. The first episode I ever saw was fairytale, and it was absolutely AMAZING because this beautiful princess was also a beautiful MAN??? It was like hitting the jackpot! I loved his Texan accent SOOO much but had somehow convinced myself that it was embarrassing so I didn't tell anyone?? At 3 years old. But now I'm living my truth👍🏻

2) Michael Jackson (all eras)

I'm almost positive he was my first hyperfixaction when I was around 5. I listened to his music EVERY DAY and SHAMELESSLY wore a sparkly glove despite it being a sensory nightmare. When my mom had told me he died it was like my entire world ended, and I had gained a new catchphrase whenever my parents introduced me to something new, "Are they dead?"

3) Christopher Reeve's Superman (and Lois)

I don't particularly remember how old I was, but it was around the same time methinks. Absolutely melted every time he smiled. And was extremely confused as to why I wanted to be around Lois so much. Couldn't ever decide who I wanted to look at more. (Partly a biromantic awakening)

4) Sam Beckett (Quantum Leap)

If you couldn't tell, growing up in the early 2000's with musicians as parents led to little 5 year old me having so many old interests I couldn't really relate to younger kids, but that was okay because I had variety! I'm not quite sure how old I was when Netflix was a postal service, but every week or so we'd get a new episode of Quantum Leap, and I LOVED Sam. (And of course my favorite episodes were when he had to be a girl. I am a creature of habit)

5) Obi Wan Kenobi (and Padme) (Star Wars)

Yet another one I was REALLY embarrassed about for some reason. All of my (2 neighbor friends) thought Anakin was soooo hot and I was like.....haha yeah....

6) Chuck Bartowski (and Sarah Walker) (Chuck)

I sort of grew up watching the show Chuck, I'm pretty sure we had rented most of the seasons from our local block buster, lol. Anyway, another case of bi panic, because good GOD. I mean seriously. Just look at them. ALSO I have to mention Scott Bakula (actor for Sam Beckett) is Chuck's DAD so um. Do with that information what you will.

7) The Doctor (11) (Doctor who)

I'm 6 years old. I'm over at my mom's friends house and I am subjected to the first modern show I had really ever paid attention to, and I see this beautiful man holding a baby. And I'm like wait hey...maybe I should sit and watch this instead of wasting 2 hours on the sims 2. So I sit my ass down and it is love at first sight. Later I go to watch the show on my own and the first episode he's with a kid MY AGE?!?! I ate that shit UP. Still madly in love with the raggedy man.

8) 2016 youtuber phase (sigh)

OKAY OKAY EVERYONE ON FANDOM TUMBLR don't boo me, everyone had a youtuber phase in middle school. Everyone also had an undertale phase in middle school. It was the thing to do, (aside from superwholock of course) Had to mention it because we're going in chronological order of things, bear with me. Although these are real people, everyone who was in the depths of insanity at the time knows they were all very...fanonized. Pewdiepie, Jackscepticeye, and Dan Howell (known at the time as danisnotonfire). Yes I am a little ashamed. But I do stand by the fact they are all very cute. I think this is also around the time I got into the Flash series, which brings us...

9) Cisco (The Flash)

Okay girl no one wanted him like I did. Everyone was so focused on the flash they did NOT notice my mans, and that was okay because I didn't have to fight over him with anyone lmao- but yes, he was the light of my life in middle school. Promptly stopped watching the show when he left. Around that time I got into Steven Universe all the way until my sophmore (?) year of highschool which brings us to....

10) Loki (Marvel Media)

Okay look, after being a mild marvel hater for a low-key (pun intended) long time, the loki series came out and I was like okay sure I'll watch it. And henceforth 2021 was the year of Lokimania. Or more fitting, Hiddleston mania. Watched everything I could get my hands on. But I always came back to Loki. (I was 16/17 I think?)

11) Castiel (Supernatural)

Avoided watching the show for a long time because of....the superwholock plague LOL. So 2022 rolls around and my mom is like "hey btw this show is actually really good" and I'm like okay whatever.

Then season 4 hits. And I see this ANGEL. And I am in love. 2022 was the year of supernatural, along with FINALLY getting all of the in-jokes of superwholock.

12) Connor (Detroit: Become Human)

I am now 18. I found myself delving back into my old "watch jacksepticeye while I eat lunch bc I want to be non-verbal" habit and stumbled across his dbh playthrough. I watched it literally ANY time I could. Took two days but it was life changing, so much so that I had literally convinced my mom to buy a cheap ps4 and I played the game. Got so much into the fandom I started watching Bryan Decharts streams, and one thing lead to another and HE COMMENTED ON MY FANART!! Anyway live laugh love Connor Anderson (he is hanks son)

13) Arthur Morgan (Red Dead Redemption 2)

Piggy-backing off of the high of dbh, I finally got around to purchasing red dead 2 (because like 5 of my friends recommended it to me, including my older brother) so I got it, and BOY I did not expect to fall in love with a cowboy, but I suppose it is deeply rooted in me to like fellas of that sort. I cried my eyes out and couldn't eat for a whole day when he died in my first playthrough.

14) Astarion (Baldur's Gate 3)

Look do I even need to explain myself here. Its the same old story of girl sees beautiful man from media she has no idea about, obsesses over thousands of videos of him, buys game and romances him, the rest is history. 2023 was definitely my videogame year.

15) Jerma probably

Look we all know he isn't real but look at how cute he is ^v^'!!

Supremely Honorable Mention: Newt Scamander (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them)

I would have put him in the list but I literally have no memory of watching the first movie, when I did it, how I felt, nothing. Its just a blip and then all of a sudden this human embodiment of a shy giggle consumed my brain (and this was before I was a fan of anything harry potter, again I avoided all the media all together because of the cringe millennial fandom stuff I had seen, no hate to y'all now though cause I'm one of you)

There you have it! I've had a ton of mini crushes in-between these but none compare to this list I think :) I love them very very much and I need to make a giant fanart with all of my silly funky quirky little dudes all being friends <3

I'm curious what Obi Wan's thoughts are about their relationship together and what does he do when Anakin is out and with Qui Gon?

yay!! I'm glad you liked them! For some reason now that I have an actual outline for the rest of the 2nd installment of FS, my brain is like "Well, now I'm not doing it. 😤" (Don't worry, I'll finish it!) And it just keeps coming up with Daddy Qui-Gon and Little Ani ideas 😭

I think when Anakin goes over to play with Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan gets a relaxing night to himself. I have it in my head that they usually do days like this on weekdays so Obi-Wan gets a night alone to recharge and reset and then Anakin spends the day at Qui-Gon's while Obi-Wan is at work. Like... I love my partner, but there are times when I need my space and being alone is nice lol

In Three's Company, I think Obi-Wan is comfortable and confident in his and Anakin's relationship that letting Anakin be with Qui-Gon really isn't a source of jealousy or uncertainty. Especially because this specific form of sexual satisfaction isn't really for him.

And I'm not at all saying that this would work for everyone or should work for everyone. Every relationship has their own set of personal boundaries, but those boundaries are going to vary by relationship. What is important to one relationship may not be to others.

And sex is such a spectrum too! How I experience sexual satisfaction is going to be different for others. Even what I consider to be sex, others may not.

All that to say, Obi-Wan and Anakin reserve certain pieces of their relationship for just the two of them. Anakin's play collar, for example. Only Obi-Wan dictates when and how Anakin wears it. Anakin also doesn't take off his day collar when he goes to Qui-Gon's because he's "owned" by Obi-Wan.

Anakin and Obi-Wan also go on dates. It's not Qui-Gon and Anakin going on a date (I mean like romantically. Not a play date to the zoo haha. Also that's definitely not really Qui-Gon's thing lol). Friday night date night still stands in this universe just like it does in FS and it's time for them.

So there are the little pieces of their relationship that are just for the two of them. The other parts that they are willing to share, they do. I think Obi-Wan is happy that Anakin found a safe space in which he can explore new things.

And now that I'm typing this, I'm glad Anakin gets to experience kink outside of Obi-Wan! Since Obi-Wan was his first serious boyfriend and introduced him to the world of kink, it's cool that he gets to experience different flavors of it.

I don’t know if you feel like talking about F1 at all, but I can’t help but be so curious about your opinion on the whole Max/Checo drama AND because this is Obikin land what if they though 👀

Oh man it has been spicy lately hasn't it. I think Max behaved badly, in a petty, spiteful, and very public manner, embarrassing his team and further tarnishing his already well tarnished reputation, and exacerbating already toxic discourse online. BUT I also need to stress that I love f1 because it’s about picking your favorite war criminal and reveling in their ruthlessly, insanely competitive behavior, and Max is one of my favorite war criminals lol. I want him to get worse. I don’t know what the truth is with Checo and Monaco. Afaik it was very risky to damage the gearbox and not even for pole, and we don’t have full telemetry, even though it might sounds weird, and people do fuck around in Monaco qualifying sometimes, so... who knows? I cannot believe the team didn’t predict that Max would be a bitch on live radio, I feel like they fucked up their previously admirably well done job covering up inter-team strife lol

If we are in obikin AU, I cannot even put into words how much trouble Anakin would be in with Obi-Wan haha. I said before that his teammate was Quinlan, which would work well in this situation, like maybe Quinlan and Obi-Wan are old friends, they raced together back in the day before Obi-Wan transitioned into running the team. Anakin has always been suspicious of their friendship, and sees them being a little too friendly at Monaco (it's genuinely not what he thinks, but he's insecure and jealous), and it just adds to his grudge. He fucks over Quinlan for something petty and public late in the season, and Obi-Wan would not stand for that at all. Imagine if Obi-Wan breaks their relationship off, and Palpatine over at Imperial offers Anakin a huge paycheck to drive for them. Anakin breaking contract out of greed and spite, driving for Imperial, and taking them to win the championship, well I suppose there is some canon where that happens haha

TAG GAME - YOUR FIRST FIC

In honour of my pocket friend who posted her first fic today (she shall go unnamed because she’s still reeling from the anxiety) I thought I’d share my experience posting my first fic and tag some writers who I’d love to hear from on the subject!

I’m curious - why did you decide to post your first fic? How did you feel about it? Any tips/advice you want to share with people who are thinking about posting their fic?

My First Fic Story:

I think I have always had a tendency to  get very engulfed in the media I consume. 

I have had a very strong fondness for literature, since I was very young, my parents read a lot for me and because of that I was exposed to many stories from an early age, that I properly was too young to read myself. (My parents also had a rule that you had to have read or heard the book before watching the movie haha)

Then when I was a little older I found fanfiction and that was such a fun and intriguing way to continue and build on the stories and characters of the books and movies I liked.

I wrote my first fic when I was a teenager, It was a hunger games one and I posted it on ao3, I was not huge or anything, but it got a decent number of hits, I had not expected that and I actually enden up deleting it because I got too insecure about it and I stopped writing for a long time after even though I kept on reading  and enjoying fanfiction and kept making up stories in my head. A lot of my insecurities came from the fact that I write in English, which isn’t my native language, and it is honestly something I’m still pretty insecure about. The whole ‘I’m not good enough’ thing is so real and so brutal.   

But around christmas of 2021 I sat down in front of my laptop and wrote again for the first time in years. It wasn’t until August 2022 that I got the guts to actually post something, which enden up being Distant Suns, here on tumblr and ao3. It was super uncomfortable, but I am so happy I did it! 

I think what really helped me finally doing so was that I came to the conclusion that my writing didn’t had to be perfect or even necessary ‘good’, if I enjoye doing it it reading enough and if other people happen to enjoy it too then that is just an amazing bonus and most importantly that it is okay to make mistakes. My writing is never going to be perfect no matter what language I write in, but so what, nothing is. I stopped telling myself that I shouldn’t write because my writing was flawed and started to tell myself that it was cool that I wrote despite of it.   

So for anyone who is thinking about publishing their first fic or doubting themselves, I can only recommend you doing it, cause I’m sure that someone out there are going to be really happy that you do <3

Allo! I am new-old to Tumblr and have naught but an empty account, hence the anon. But I keep finding myself drawn back to your Orokin thinker / pilot, Ophelus / Obi, and was curious whether we might hear more about them. It sounds like she/he has quite a colourful and complex history, and that is just pre-Warframe. Whatever he is doing now, I can only imagine it continues to make ripples in the System.

Ophelus can't keep himself from being involved in a lot of different things. Though his position is more behind the scenes as opposed to on the grand stage as the leader of a clan of Tenno, he acts as the guiding hand to a lot of clandestine operations. So one could say he's still on his bullshit. Haha.

After all that's how he ended up getting caught out, sending secret missives to a lot of the lower rungs of society, building a rebellion? Resistant? The kind of shit you get up to, when you start realizing something is so deeply wrong with everything around you... and then you fall in love with a servant, and then the whole thing unravels, you have a kid, you lose the plot.

Then the other shoe drops, and you're running, assuming a new identity, and then you end up back.....and it all works out but you've still got so little to show for it.

One moment the morningair of Couruscant was fresh and cool like a crispy apple, the next second the stutterer came down to one of the Temples landingplatforms followed by the stench of very much not working as they should be engines. The ‘Stutterer’ did landed eventually after slowly stuttering its way down for something that felt like hours, although the landing included falling the last ten meters on the platform instead of actally landing. A very big, very stinking cloud of dark smoke rose from the starships engines that wrapped around one of the temples landingplatforms the ship had (fallen) landed on. Carrying a few boxes Ziv waved the smoke away coughing. The smoke had turned her pelt into a dirty duster dyeing it into a dirty grey instead of the pale silverly white. With a huff the AgriCorps Specialist sat down the boxes of samples, then went inside the stutterer again that was by now nolonger smoking but smelled like a grilled steak instead, to get the other boxes with samples she needed to bring to one of the temples AgriCorps laboratorys. It was when she stepped back outside, Boxes under her arms, staggering under the weight that she saw the blurred outlines of someone leaning curiously over a small transpericontainer that inhabitated a semi-sentient plant with a red flowerhead and deep blue leafs. The plant hissed like a angry loth-cat, turning and twisting in the container to get away fromt he face they did not knew:   “If I were you,-”, the Tynnan started, putting a few boxes of samples down and padding her face to dust off the dark colour off her fluffy cheeks:” I would not irritate the plant because when it is irritated it will defend itself and when it defend itself it will spread a kriffing powder on you which will cause a itching which is in low doses very useful to cause bloodflow in freezing limbs and perfect to be used in the Halls of Healing but actually in the dose you would get from the plant will cause you scratching your kriffing skin off your muscles and I am sure you would love to still have your kriffing skin attatched to your muscles, yes? Would be a real krififng pity if your pretty Jedi Robes would be stained with krifding blood.” The young woman leaned her head to the side like a attentive animal: “So, dear stranger of the same kriffing Order of whom I have no kriffing idea of who the Kriff you are? Obi-Wan really had no business putting his nose into other people's things, but when he had spotted these things being unloaded from a rather smokey starship, he could not help himself to wander closer to check it out.

"Oh." He backed away from the plant, not only because of it reacting negatively to him, but also because he heard the voice of someone talking to him. He realised he'd just been busted and he promptly gave the Tynnan woman an apologetic smile. "My apologies." He glanced to the plant. "I think I prefer my skin on my body.." The words was spoken in a low voice, almost as if he spoke to himself and took a mental note to not disturb any strange, unfamiliar plants again.

He walked over to her, giving her yet another smile. "I am Obi-Wan Kenobi and I will most definitely help carrying this for you." It was not as if he had anything better to do at the moment anyway, so he figured why not help a fellow Order member. "What is your name, if I may ask?"

Hi! I've really been enjoying oby and I'd like to ask a question about it if that's ok? As I was reading, I thought about the amount of planning that must go into it. How do you go about planning a long series like that or any fic in general? Do you sit down and plan them or is it more of a you start off with an idea and it develops as it goes? I'm curious because I know whenever I'm doing art, I'll maybe have the vaguest sketch but then the final piece is completely different ahaha. I enjoy learning how other people think, sorry about the random question haha

Fun fact, the initial idea for Oh Baby, You came to me while I was in Taiwan in May/June 2022, about 11 months before the masterlist was finally posted! At the time, I was stuck in a govt mandated covid hotel with my mom for 10 days and unemployed (the best combination for fic ideas to brew). I made all the fake twt profiles in that hotel room, drafted a basic plot summary (like the one on the masterlist), and then let the wip sit for many months.

I was actually pretty scared to try and tackle something like oby-- it's got relatively heavy themes for something like an smau, and I don't exactly have a great record with completing series, but the level of support and love oby has received really helped!! I feel so lucky to have you awesome readers 💕

As for my planning process, it's actually quite simple! I basically start out with keystone moments-- sometimes I write them down, but sometimes I just keep them in mind. For instance, the oby list (in my mind, not in writing) looked a little something like this:

You took Mingyu's scandal baby, resulting in Jihoon misunderstanding the situation and making Wonwoo cut you out of his life

3 years later, Wonwoo moves back and into the apartment across the hall on the same day as Orion's bday party

CEO Cheol sees you at Mingyu's house and starts to suspect you and Mingyu are Orion's parents

Cheol starts going on "dates" with you, and you feel happy and liked in a romantic sense for the first time in years

Confrontation at the concert where everything comes to light

You can probably tell, but I didn't exactly stick to this plan!! While I do have keystone moments in mind, I usually let my character's lead the way. However I think they'd react to a situation, I let them, even if it messes my timeline up a little. Sometimes this leads to things taking a lot longer than I expect, and sometimes actually makes readers hate characters that I think are justified (to an extent) lol

Anyways, I basically write every chapter the night before, always with the next keystone moment in mind, and the overall plot too.

I don't know if you've ever read or plan to read my tbz smau Hood, but that ended up being 100+ parts, and took over a year for me to write (with a couple breaks). Still, I always knew how it was going to end, I just needed to guide my characters there!

I do kind of the same thing with long written fics, just without the whole one chapter per week thing

It is at least 50% the fault of him thinking with his dick but I also like to think it's a bit of Geonosis Brain Worm Kenobi, you know? Yeah this demon could kill and eat him but he's so interesting! This is the first definitive proof of the supernatural and Obi-Wan is very curious. How do demon powers work? What's immortality like? Anakin can talk to animals--what do animals have to say for themselves? Anakin contains more knowledge than Obi-Wan could even dream of and he also has a very tight ass. OBI WAN

Phone:

He’s got a Samsung Galaxy or a Google Pixel because his old iPhone died and Anakin convinced him not to get a new one, but he still wants a recognizable name brand smartphone because he’s not super techy and he knows that means they’ll work and won’t be overly complicated. It’s got one small line of a crack in the screen protector, he has no clue where it came from and is rather disgruntled because it’s a fairly new phone and protector, but he figures it’s something he can let be until it becomes a bigger problem.

He’s got one of those old man plain brown leather cases that has a built in wallet area where you can put credit cards and ids and stuff—but he doesn’t, thinks it’ll be easier to lose everything at once that way and keeps all that in his regular wallet. Ahsoka and Anakin regularly ask him what even the point of the wallet case is, but like hell is he admitting to being an aesthetic hoe

Lockscreen is a long battle between a landscape photo of some aesthetic city or wilderness he’s traveled to, and blurry selfies of Anakin pulling the most hideous expressions he can because Anakin knows his password and keeps breaking into his phone to set his lockscreen to them just to watch Obi Wan’s fucking done expression when he checks his phone and sees it

Homescreen is either another aesthetic photo or a screenshot of a literary quote he likes

All his apps are sitting in the standard way the phone organizes them, he doesn’t do any fiddling, but he also doesn’t have many apps to begin with

Also I need to point out that Obes is a godless heathen who keeps his ringer ON. His text and phone tones are also the standard ones that come with the phone, Anakin hasn’t dared try and change them to something jokey because he knows Obi Wan will get a special kind of revenge for embarrassing him in public and he’s waiting for the perfect opportunity to do it since he can only do it once

Laptop:

Obi Wan still has an ancient first or second generation MacBook Air and he is kinda cranky with Anakin for convincing him to change his phone to an android because now it won’t connect in any way with his laptop and he is absolutely not shelling out for a new one when this one still looks fine

He keeps a special glasses wipe for the screen because he fucking hates not being able to see shit when there’s dust and gunk all over it. Drives him nuts that the laptop just keeps accumulating it

The laptop background is an artsy map of whatever city he’s living in, but it’s blurry and pixelated because he got it off Google images and it wasn’t an HD version. It’s the same background as his LinkedIn profile.

He doesn’t have an outside case for the laptop, but he does have a carrying case for it that he can zip and unzip it out of whenever he’s transporting it places. It is plain black and squishy.

Okay so Obi Wan very much likes public transportation and is an avid champion of the necessity for buses and trains

He also rides a bicycle a lot!

Obi Wan’s got a motorcycle.

It is a nice one (I can’t say more than that cuz I also know jackshit about bikes lmao)

It’s shiny and it’s either red or black and when he needs to drive somewhere and can’t take public transport, that’s what he uses

He of course always wears a full helmet and gloves and impact jacket.

It used to be Qui Gon’s but he got injured and doesn’t ride anymore so Obi Wan took it. It’s nice, he likes it, it’s less gas and it’s not hard to ride.

He has a side car for if he’s transporting more than one person or groceries or anything.

Anakin is in love with it and firmly believes Obi Wan doesn’t deserve it and laments on the REGULAR that Obi Wan only lets him clean it/give it tune ups and won’t let him take it apart or try and make it better

Obi Wan genuinely does not get how hot he is on the bike xD

Backpack:

Obi Wan has one of those leather over the side shoulder satchels that’s all the dark academia rage lol

Regularly sticks too much shit in it, it’s surprisingly messy for a guy like him but that’s because it’s full of books his laptop extra snacks a hairbrush a spare jacket a first aid kit literally everything packed in there Just In Case

It’s also Really Fucking Heavy because of that and he’s always surprising people by handing it to them and they’re just like oof *drops from the weight*

The leather’s a little worn and cracked because he keeps so much in it, but it’s in fairly good shape because he splurged for a pricier one

this isn't for the ask game I'm just curious!! do you have any headcanons for the jedi temple and life there? like do masters and padawans room together or does every person get a separate room (i know canon says it's the last one but who cares haha), is the food in the cafeteria food or too bland, how's education organized, do they have grades and exams, stuff like that!!

ooh, so, I will confess that I kind of lean into whatever fits the story I'm telling? like, if I need it, masters and padawans room together (they 100% do in be that monster you been wanting, for instance, because....well. why miss a moment for baby-wan's life to be worse.), but if I was telling a story that it was relevant that they didn't, they...wouldn't. I don't really care what canon says, tbh, we follow the rule of 'narrativly useful' in this house. I do think that there's a bunch of 'weird' jedi only cultural dishes -- some of which were invented by the jedi, either through 'this is one of the very few places nautolan ingredients will run into tusken spices' sort of cultural cross over, or just from 'we are an order of incredibly athlectic people and need to cram 8000+ calories into every possible meal', and some of which are more 'everyone used to eat this 500 years ago, and we're the only people who still make it on the regular'. I also think that their cafeteria (look I want to call it a tuckshop so bad I need you all to know that I know it's literally just us and maybe the kiwis who call it that but: it's a tuckshop or a canteen if you're being fancy) serves kind of a few basic 'menus' of meals, as it were -- one for herbivores, one for carnivores, one for species like kel dor, etc. Education wise, I think it's pretty standardized up to near-ish padawan age, just because...well, you gotta learn the basics, right? after that I lean towards both 'your master teaches you Focus Specific Stuff like in an apprenticeship' -- so Obi-wan learns Diplomacy and also Lazer Sword Things To Death Fast, quinlan learns Spy Shit, etc -- and also a number of sort of graduated classes, like 'not pissing off politicians 101, 201, and 501', 'flying ships so you Don't Get Stranded' and 'so you're caught up in a ritual sacrifice: how to not die about that'.

I think any given padawan can technically take any class (given they meet the pre-recs; you're not going straight into 'advanced poison detection' if you haven't even passed 'not getting black out drunk after a night out'), but it's sort of like being in a physics degree and deciding to take one semester of, like, contract law. Weird, and your advisor might be like 'uh, please explain and justify this before I sign off on it'.

I do think they have exams, though they're more focused on demonstrating a depth of understanding, rather than 'have you learnt to answer question a with answer b'. If you fail, it's less a 'you suck' and more a 'ok, so lets work out where this didn't click', maybe with a 'hey, you're struggling with [topic] as a whole, maybe you should refocus?' where relevant -- like if you were fucking terrible at medicine, but were studying to be a healer.

uhh, what else... I think that the temple is never actually silent, as such. I think there's def points it's way more busy than others, but I think those points aren't necessarily all the points outsiders might expect. Like, 5-9 am is peak hour in the temple; you have all the diunal species getting breakfast, all the noctural ones getting dinner, everyone getting in from late missions or leaving on early ones. By contrast, 3-7 pm is about as quiet as the temple ever gets.

in terms of what's on my blog — it's like half aesthetic posts and half star wars, specifically obi-wan and anakin, aka the team, with romantic obikin. i also post about ancient greece a bit, and applied my classics degree (lmao) pointing out some cultural history of obikin dynamics. i made edits of obi-wan saying “anakin” and anakin saying “master” at each other and a combo. i love to read about star wars and talk about it and sometimes i write meta! i collect star wars books too :)

in terms of my fiction — i've written 650k+ words of obikin over the last two years. i publish my fic on ao3 because all the stories i write are explicit. i've talked on tumblr about my novels lex talionis and war drums. some aus that i've talked about on here are classics au (professor obi-wan, my anankē), murder puppy au (raised sith anakin), anakin swap au (anakin/vader time travel swap au). filter "fanfic stuff" if you don't want to see it <3

Novel-length stories:

Lex Talionis: COMPLETE Plotty, smutty, Sith AU. It’s my take on how Obi-Wan and Anakin could fall to the dark side, weaving in as much lore as I can. Force dyad, Sith’ari, Zygerria, etc. Obi-Wan and Anakin go through.. character development.. and it is dramatized in the changing way they have sex. I poured in all of my theories about metaphysics and the Force, all my knowledge about Augustus and how a Republic dies, all of my opinions about consent and agency. It has rough sex in it and some uncomfortable power dynamics that get resolved, so it is not for everyone, just a heads up. It is complete, and yes, there is a happy ending lol.

War Drums: IN PROGRESS Darth Vader dies at the end of Return of the Jedi full of regret and wakes up in his 10-yr-old body after the events of the Phantom Menace. Young Obi-Wan struggles to acclimate to the death of Qui-Gon and the discovery that the boy he swore to train grew up into a Sith. Vader tries to use his knowledge to fix the galaxy and Obi-Wan uses his training to make sure they do it the right way. Anakin underwent his rite and is now an adult, galaxy beware.

Murder Puppy: IN PROGRESS Obi-Wan’s decision to do more than flirt with the enemy ends up accidentally acquiring a clingy Sith acolyte, and he is tasked with holding his leash while they work together to end the war. This will probably end up around 40k so a bit shorter than the other two, which are chunkier

Core Oneshots: (my argument for the ship, basically)

Symposium: The story that started it all for me haha. I put Plato's Symposium in a word document and transformed it into a scene where Obi-Wan is forced to reconsider his relationship with Anakin, while dosed with an aphrodisiac, which leads to lines being crossed back in their hotel room. It suggests the erastēs/erōmenos dynamic that appears in much of my work.

Unwrap, Wrap: Obi-Wan needs emotional hurt/comfort. This story has him fall apart, and Anakin help put him back together, after a traumatic battle late in the clone wars. Dramatizes the way that the war has muddied their roles and how much their lives are entangled. Obi-Wan gets a handjob in the shower, also, if that is relevant.

Longer Modern AUs: (8k+ words, developed AUs that attempt to model the canon dynamic in everyday life)

My Anankē: Classics AU is built on the premise that Obi-Wan would never break the rules re: teacher/student fraternization. He would rather endure years of mutual pining than act inappropriately. Once Anakin’s graduated though, that’s a different story. These are oneshots telling the story of their relationship. It is not told in chronological order, so each one basically opens up another window into their lives.

Soulbound: Obi-Wan is a bossy lawyer who plays World of Warcraft. Anakin is an insecure veteran who is in Obi-Wan’s guild and drives him insane. They meet randomly in a bar, and Obi-Wan realizes that Anakin acts the way he does because he likes to be bossed around—so he bosses him around.

Zone of Truth: Obi-Wan basically helped raise Anakin through being his Big Brother mentor through a local gaming shop, eventually teaching him to drive and getting him an internship etc. Anakin graduates college and Obi-Wan turns into a ghost, for very good reasons, it turns out. Anakin’s betrayed him, and he’s betrayed himself.

Longer Canon AUs: (8k+ words, AUs that take place in the galaxy far, far away)

Nostos: Technically a sequel to Symposium. It explores would happen if you took the dynamic established in Symposium and then put the characters in the canon end of Attack of the Clones. How would their behavior be impacted? How would the Jedi react to their decisions?

Ready Stance: Anakin is bored during a hyperspace journey during the clone wars, so he asks Obi-Wan to spar. Obi-Wan watches him warm up, they spar, and things escalate. This fic explores more core facets of their relationship, like the legacy teaching dynamic.

Found, Fixed: Post-Zygerria Obi-Wan hurt/comfort. It’s similar to Unwrap, Wrap, except it’s told from Anakin’s POV and is much more explicit. It’s one of my rare bottom!Obi-Wan fic, he gets taken care of, from a beard trim to.. you know :)

Warm Blood: A/B/O fic that people seem to enjoy. Features omega Anakin having a suppressant failure on the battlefield and going into heat. Alpha Obi-Wan has to fight his way to him, and then tries to resist his instincts—until Anakin confesses his true feelings.

Run Away With Me: A/B/O sequel to Warm Blood, tells the story of what happened after the mating, how they left the Jedi and what they’ve been doing. Anakin is preparing to go into heat, and Obi-Wan is helping him nest. Set during Revenge of the Sith, though they don’t know what’s happening in their isolation.

Temporary Like Achilles: A/B/O fic. Alpha Obi-Wan is drugged by Dathomirian Nightsisters into a feral state, omega Anakin finds and rescues him. It's a fuck or die with feelings and ultimately a happy ending.

Heat Haze: A/B/O fic. Alpha Obi-Wan is living alone on Tatooine, 10yrs post Mustafar. Omega Anakin is about to go into his first heat, and is searching for his mother during the Attack of the Clones. The Force shifts Anakin into the future, bringing the two together in time for Anakin’s heat to begin.

Heat Shimmer: A/B/O fic. Alpha Obi-Wan is on Geonosis during Attack of the Clones, investigating. Preheat omega Darth Vader is on Geonosis 13 years later, and the Force decides to move him back in time for his heat. They fight, but it's impossible to fight some insticts.

Give Up, Give In: A/B/O fic. Qui-Gon lived AU. Omega Obi-Wan is dosed with a heat inducer during a mission. Alpha Anakin who has loved the older Knight forever doesn’t handle that very well. Ends with Service Top Anakin, a favorite of mine

Anakin Sucks: Anakin has an oral fixation and it drives Obi-Wan to distraction over the course of the Clone Wars, 5+1 crack taken very seriously lol

Make War: show!era Obi-Wan after fighting Vader on Mapuzo shares a dream with him while suspended in bacta. Warning for noncon!! Now with a second chapter set after their near miss on Jabiim. Third chapter based on the kenobi show finale hopefully will be out soon!

Shorter Smutty AUs: (shorter stories)

Snap, Crackle, Pop: Padawan Anakin gets braid tugging and spanking after behaving very badly during the Battle of Muunilinst early in the Clone Wars.

Tilted: Anakin wakes up after Mortis in a female body and hides, struggling to come to terms with the change. Obi-Wan comes to check on him and reassure him, smut ensues.

Make Your Siren’s Call: show!era Obi-Wan struggles to fall asleep in the cave from the photoshoot, and dreams about his old apprentice, full of guilt, angst, and smut

Stress Relief: Sith-like/Dom!Obi-Wan is rough on eager!Anakin in their Temple apartment, plays on Master/Padawan dynamic.

Unperishing Glory: Homeric AU, Anakin is Achilles-type Chosen One and Obi-Wan is his Patroclus-type mentor-friend, angsty sex

Murder Puppy: Playful!Obi-Wan seduces raisedSith!Anakin during a duel, bringing him back to the light during sex. People seem to really like this one, it is one of the things I get the most asks about. I have plans for a short story to expand, it’s on the WIP list I promise.

Unwelcome Guest: An AU where Obi-Wan couldn't strike Anakin down on Mustafar. Suitless!Vader comes to find him on Tatooine, and wants to be punished for mistakes, there is spanking involved.

Rosetta Stone: Based on the Mummy, an AU where Obi-Wan is a librarian and Anakin is a former soldier, and they defeated a mummy together. Obi-Wan is oblivious and repressed, so Anakin has to be very forward.

Safe as Houses: Based on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Anakin is the slayer and Obi-Wan is his Giles-like librarian watcher. Anakin seeks Obi-Wan out in crisis and Obi-Wan takes care of him.
