Compared to Compton's Cookoff, I feel Mentallis' Movies stages would include a lot more backstages as well sets, showing the stage of completion of the different 'scenes'. (I didn't mean to make this into a pun, but it fits really well!) It's an on-going movie shoot setting, after all.

You're never done dazzling the audience! You must make sequels upon sequels! (Aka placating and impressing the public.)

I think the most interesting thing abt how cassie and bob tend to clash with otto in fanon interpretations is I feel like this tends to draw from how they all see themselves in each other but in like the least flattering way possible

to cassie in her mind, otto is an unbearable know it all. but cassie herself has the librarian manifest as someone who thinks she knows everything and the right way to do things w/out question

to bob, otto is a mouthpiece for how everyone only tolerated him because he was their gardener and a "package deal" with helmut. it's most obviously bob's own self loathing manifesting thru an imagined version of a friend

but also otto is the one out of the psychic 6 making himself the most useful to the psychonauts. and you could read that work as a manifestation of being valued for his work or else what's worth keeping him around for

and then while we know little abt what otto thinks of those two, we know from helmut's mind that otto and bob did hang out a lot. and we know otto values the human imagination/dreams, which can manifest in machinery but also art like singing, textiles, and importantly where cassie is concerned writing books!

the relationships from otto's perspective could be so interesting you are so right. I'd be especially curious abt how he feels abt cassie bc the usual conclusion is they butt heads but who knows, maybe he still considers her a good friend and she just grew bitter over time. its up in the air! its got potential for his mind level

I feel like Cassie and Bob could be really cool foils for Otto in my idea for his mind.

The fact that Otto basically is split into two and the one in control of the entire facility is an 'archetype' created because of a stressful situation and is in control to keep Otto safe.

The fact that Otto's whole problem is that he bottles his emotions and his pain and doesn't talk to anyone and is just cooped up in his lab all day while pushing others away.

Cassie and Bob understand entirely what Otto is going through and yet they are the characters that I frequently see clashing with Otto in many fan interpretations.

I dunno I just feel like in an Otto's Brain DLC, Cassie and Bob could have some interesting things to say and their relationship and dynamic could be FASCINATING.

Honestly they totally should reintroduce nightmares!! I miss them a lot!! I might not know what archviles are (never played that game) but I definitely wish we had them every now and then

(also, there's a good reason my obdlc is/was called nightmare obdlc... I just haven't worked on it in so long >-<)

What is the Idea that supposedly will help with everything in Otto's mind in your OBDLC according to your OC? Or is that spoilers?

oh haha you must have been scrolling awhile to come across my old otto dlc stuff! i haven't given it much thought in awhile since i had so many ideas that they were spilling over and ruining the whole thing

i'm trying to figure out what idea you're talking about and yes, i think it was spoilers. i may try and plan some stuff out more. just in case, yknow? id like to leave it unspoiled

Otto Brain DLC. Hollis preemptively calls from her vacation into the Motherlobe and requests another week of vacation. She had a feeling... Truman looks around and sighs, "I'll finalize the paperwork. You've built up enough for another one, and we have enough hands."

Because it'd be unfair to dump all of that chaos at Hollis' feet just as she returned to work.

Funny idea for your two Otto Brain DLC AUs.

One of the Mental Denizens Raz meets in Mentallis' Marvels is a robot emaluating Otto but wearing an elaborate outfit and acting more like Tincan Zanotto in Compton's mind.

The Showman complains about 0tt0's micromanaging everything recently. He doesn't have a shred of pizzaz! How are they supposed to bedazzle any potential investors like this if he (the Showman) isn't at the front?

In Mentallis' Movies, 0tt0 is a stressed director ticking off lists for the movies. He knows they have to make a good impression in front of the press and he WILL do his job, but the Showman doing this whole hubbub is keeping them from actual productive work that will bring in money! Like developing the mini-astrolethes!

REALLY funny to imagine all these different flavors of Otto's psyche having Opinions about each other and one becomes more prominant than the other depending on which of these aus is happening! I like that a lot, it lines up with my perception of the Mind in Psychonauts that visiting a brain isn't always gonna get you the same landscape and issues every time

it also gives Otto a Cassie parallel in that he's compartmentalizing different parts of himself like that. I really like whenever parallels between those 2 can be drawn since they both recognize the self in the other and go OH EW, GROSS

also WHEW, its been a hot minute since I thought abt the other aus that got talked abt here besides the main 0tt0/Mentallis Marvels/Otto's Immune System concept

Otto Brain DLC. As the loving friends they are, the rest of the Psychic Seven sometimes stack things on Otto's face during his frequent naps post Brain Visit.

Otto's resigned to it. He tells them that whoever wakes him from his nap before he does on his own or make things falls on his face owes him at least two times an expensive lunch, bought or self-made.

It's like a game of reverse jenga. Winner of the heighest stack so far has been Ford bc he's the best judge of when Otto may or may not wake up and ruin his streak.

Lovelace 🤝 0tt0: Green electricity-based overly positive denizens who are the most likely antagonist to an outside perspective who's going in expecting an antagonistic denizen, despite also being outwardly friendly and being basically a tour guide to those who enter

Win-0 🤝 0tt0: nothing. These two have nothing in common other than both being in the same brainstorm session

That's all for the moment but. Wow Lovelace and 0tt0 are similar.

It would be spooky after the explosion in Otto's Brain DLC. The deep spiral carved into the rockbed where once the psychoseismometer was. Debris around the site floating. Pressure on your brain and headaches as well as intense feelings of dread. The electronics as well as Otto's inventions are going haywire although the entire lab should be cut off from energy.

How many would know the source was an overloaded psychoseismometer? When would this be discovered? (Maybe Raz tells his suspicions?) This could be how ghost stories start in the universe. Strong feelings from psychics spill out and remain in an area, making it 'haunted'.

Ghost sightings at least in part being the result of psychic energy spilling out is a really cool idea in general :00 I bet that could be fertile ground for fun story ideas even beyond OBDLC

but in the context, yeah absolutely his lab looks absolutely HAUNTED after this explosion, I think I've written before how it's not even possible to get in there because all the entrances have been blocked off/broken except the OttoBON, which is why Raz is able to scramble in there with Lili following him close behind (BECAUSE, as is heavily implied, they can use the ottobon because theyre SMOL...)

The kids are able to push through the immense presure of the psychic haywire energy because Raz has canon really high mental defenses and Lili has more experience if we're willing to believe her assertion that she's already higher ranked than any of the interns

if could do any of your aus in a nutshell like videos what whould they be like?

TL;DR: I might've done the wrong type of video so I'll go with explaining both.

If you mean: Explaining the AU in a humorous, sketchy fashion that isn't well-animated.

i mean I did one of them for an old Portal au of mine already-- A few years back, sure, but that did happen. It can be found right here.

ANYWAYS! I feel like those videos are reserved for stories with two traits: a) the plot goes way off of what's expected, and b) they have clear arcs.

Couldn't do it for Jarswap or Maligustus then, since those are mostly "It's the same except X, let's think about what all that changes." (Same with Winged, Adultswap, Pshift, Shiftswitch, and other roleswaps/minor changes.)

Couldn't do it for TL!Ford-- it doesn't have definite arcs and it's hard for me to really narrow down everything that's happening there. (Same basic idea for No Astrolathe, Youtuber Augustus, Inscryption, Advisor Augustus, or Gristol Aquato.)

Therefore: This already cuts out a ton of options. There's only a few left, so let's talk about each in turn:

Escape the Circus: Absolutely not. Listen, I enjoy it, but I haven't finished it yet or come up with where it goes.

Valvonauts: I could see it. There are a lot of differences that are planned, but I'd have to really work hard on getting everything figured out. I mean, Cecil and I still haven't really decided on where exactly some major changes fit in, like the whole Blaperture Mesa Conspiracy plot, which I will not be explaining right now. There's also a lot of different stuff here, so I think it would be best to wait on that.

Nightmare OBDLC: This is the one that I think would be the most likely, even though I haven't finished it. I love drawing my little dudes so that's a plus, plus it has a definite arc and storyline. Win-win.

If you mean: Describing the characters using humorous gifs/pictures, like "[abc] when [xyz happens]"

I'd want a story with a lot of characters. Most likely going with Valvonauts or one of the roleswaps, but I wish I could come up with an excuse to do it for Jarswap.

Green area is like the brainframe and works like the backrooms in Hollis’s hotstreak. 

Staticky snow because its causing interference

So little set up before the panic attack, the heartbreak phase starts off with the hyperhyglaciator activating and freezing everything in the mindscape. It literally freezes over the sea of emotion and flees, ignores raz and lili and distracts itself by finding a way to repair its broken arms. 

This is where this part where a weird audio thing happens. They can still hear the frantic breathing, even though 0tt0 is far away, but its less staticky. Raz and Lili are confused on what to do since they can’t fly and ask the psychic 7 for advice/help, except well– due to 0tt0’s hyperhyglaciator still active, there is a snowstorm. And in snowstorms its pretty hard to get a signal. 

So Raz and Lili has been cut off from the psychic phone call and are alone, just the wind of a snowstorm and frantic breathing with no source they can discern from.

At the same time, the psychic 7 are concerned for the kids. They’ve been regulating something in the mindscape so Otto doesn’t completely and utterly collapse from and sending the rest of their spare energy to support the more nimble kids at fighting the boss.

Their psychic call can’t reach them, and while the adults can multitask in talking irl and projecting at once, the kids can’t so they don’t know what’s their status since heartbreaker started without pulling out the smelling salts (and they could be in the middle of something so they don’t do that just yet).

Granted they haven’t even had the time to consider as they see Otto eyes flutter open but have a glazed and panicked look to him. 

Literally having a panic attack while dreaming and the rest of the psychic 7 could recognize it and oh boy that’s not good. First he falls unconscious when the psychoportal got placed, which is suppose to put you in a trance instead of that. 

Now there is this, which is like, a person with their eyes open while having a nightmare. Ever get woken up by being too anxious in your dreams? Yeah that happened to me a couple of times and like its so disorienting and jarring, real bad way to start my day I tell ya. 

0tt0 has been damaged enough that Mental Otto got enough energy to do something than just receiving and sending emotional feedback. I got this little visual of like, seeing both mindscape and irl like its glitching in between tv channels. 

So like, Otto manages to calm down a bit with the physical help from Compton and Ford since the Panic Attack can’t be mentally beat up yet. He calms down enough to be able to use his powers to like control the railing so he could go up to where Raz and Lili are at. 

Unfortunately the panic attack suddenly blocks the way as it lurches for the Plant Mech, and Otto basically smacks on top of the Panic attack, grabs on as it surfaces. Now comes the challenge of defeating a Giant Panic Attack which oh boy the kids don’ have their mech and Otto doesn’ have enough mental energy to do big psychic construct stuff. 

 I’ve got like 2 versions of how to continue but this em like a good stopping point.

Overworking energy ball jailed for vacation time

Just a really funny idea to put him on a plasma ball for a time-out. dw though he ain’t stuck in a deep dark nowhere and is just chilling by the monitors where Otto can keep an eye on him too. 

He gets to man the emergency calls from work monitor, cuz I definitely think Otto would still have thoughts about work even if he is forced into vacation
