Yes to all of this! I’d love to see his back story show up this season. It was shoehorned into the Sunrise Countdown arc.
Here's a new idea for Hashira Training arc filler: what if they moved Iguro's backstory here???
I've always felt that the placement of his flashback arc was a disservice both to him and to the flow of the Sunrise Countdown arc. I had thought before that if I were to make editing decisions to make a theatrical conclusion to the series, for flow's sake the biggest change I would make would be to move the Iguro flashback to the Nakime fight to give that fight a little more weight, but even then, it does not quite fit.
But this is a short arc and Ufotable wants to sell us Hashira merch, and that means making us as invested in Hashira as possible! Since this is downtime and a chance to just let the characters communicate with each other, it is a good opportunity.
But who would Iguro bother communicating that too? We see in this arc that he and Mitsuri exchange letters, and although I would love such a shocker, I can't imagine he would tell Mitsuri all about his background. He doesn't seem to mind other people knowing since he canonically has chatted about it with Uzui, but still, why weigh her down with it?
There is the possibility of another character who knows about it broaching the topic, though. Like Shinjuro.
After all, aside from Iguro and Kaburamaru, Shinjuro has the best understanding of the situation he got out of, and he probably feels some responsibility for Iguro having joined the Corp at all. Shinjuro might even find it ironic that Iguro's training requires maneuvering through tight spaces. There might even be a question of why Iguro prefers that girls not take part in his training, if that winds up being the case (though I could just as easily see him being mature about it and dealing with it).
And the best/worst way for this to come up in the anime, via our vehicle whom we the audience experience most of this world through? Yeah, Shinjuro just dumps it all in a letter and concludes with "So anyway, say hi to him for me. Thx, Tanjiro."

school keeps me busy so I havent really done much about my mlp!Kimetsu no yaiba au besides thinking, anyways what I thought so far:
The kamados are earth ponies
Tomioka is an unicorn
Sanemi is either an earth pony or pegasus. (I'm starting to lean towards son of an earth pony, his mom, and a pegasus, his dad, that way I can play with his dinamic with genya adding another layer by making Sanemi a pegasus and Genya an earth pony)
Kyojuro, per results of the poll, is a dragon and therefore so are the Rengokus.
Mitsuri, per results of the poll, is a kirin which I'm definitely going to use with her whole insecurities about her strength and such (people are scared of her because she is a kirin oh no :[ )
Obanai is an unicorn too, smaller than average and with small horn giving him difficulties when using his magic, reason he gets bullied in a family of unicorns (distrust of women + unicorns yummy...)
Uzui I have to investigate about the flashiest mlp species, however I'm leaning to making him a crystal pony (Cause of his ninja headband having something that kinda looks like rocks?)
Ubuyashikis are cursed alicorns (Yes technically I'm ignoring the lore by making them all alicorns since they have to earn it and Candance daughter is the exception, but I'm thinking that as the eldest son takes the place of the leader they become an alicorn or something) the curse drains them of their magic, alicorns are mostly magic therefore they die once it drains them enough (also gives a good excuse as to why Kagaya doesnt laser beam Muzan's ass)
Shinobu and Kanae might be half changlings (unicorn mom or Pegasus mom + redeemed changling dad)? If I go this route, Kanao will a changling.
Zenitsu HAS to be an unicorn but I cant decide whether Inosuke will be an earth pony or pegasus, I was thinking a Yak but those were used in mlp as an in for a different ethnicity and racism episodes I dont know if I should use that species for the "savage" boy.
I have to check the name, but Muichiro might be an hypogriff(is that the name?).
The demons will be different species, some mind controlled/cursed by Muzan (not sure what he is going to be yet), the uppermoons and lower moons however are conscious (redeemtion arcs for some? :3 )
Not as many deaths I wanna do it in true mlp fashion, all hashira live, however there will be deaths (Tomioka's parents, but his sister stays alive she is just missing; Muichiro's and Shinobu's parents are death like applejack's parents; etc.)
Debating whether Tanjiro will be able to save his whole family or just save Nezuko who will be cursed.
Definitely way happier ending than Kny, but only cause they are ponies.
Last but not least: Giving it a corny ass that fuses the titles My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Kimetsu no Yaiba.

There's a lot of series and books where it's like "in this family only boys/girls have been born for generations..." and some stupid mf will always be like "HOW ARE THEY BORN WITHOUT A MOTHER/FATHER THEN???" so this might sound crazy but typically both parents aren't born into the same family

it's kind of rough that obanai's backstory gets revealed so close to the end of the series especially since they drop the fact that shinjuro is the hashira that saved him, and then . . . do not elaborate on that whatsoever! there's just no time to. i have thoughts about it, but there's this like strange gap of time in between obanai being saved by shinjuro and obanai becoming a hashira that just kind of doesn't get talked about
anyways, in this essay about obanai's upbringing after being rescued, i will—

Been busy with stuff lately, but what do you think of Hashira centric arc ideas?
1. Obanai
Set during the Entertainment District arc, a few days before the fight against Uppermoons 6.
Two Hashiras -- Obanai and Mitsuri -- are sent to investigate a village rumoured to have a demon hiding in it. The villagers have that sacrificial ritual that hasn't been done for a few decades and suddenly resumed back out of nowhere.
Obanai finds a familiar face of his remaining cousin during his stay there, and to his horror, discovers that she was the cause of this.
A demon had captured her children and made a bargain for her to sacrifice other people in their stead. She manipulated the villagers in doing the rituals again until the demon is satisfied and will return her children. Obanai has to settle the dispute with the villagers who think he's trying to bother the ritual and endangers their lives while Mitsuri goes to save the hostages the demon has a hold onto.
A stand off between Mitsuri and the demon. She manages to defeat it, but not without some costs when the people she was trying to protect didn't listen to her warning to stay put. About three people died, and one of them was the cousin's child.
" Why do you have to go and ruin everything again?! " The cousin screams at Obanai as she clutches her dead child's body. " You've always been the one to cause disaster! All you had to do was stay put! LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID!!! "
Obanai can only stare and stare and says nothing, even if inside he knows that he should defend himself at least, to do something to make up for when she blamed him in the past. But his mouth remains sealed.
Later, when the villagers chase away the Hashiras due to still in confusion belief, Obanai and Mitsuri get to talk a bit.
He doesn't reveal much, just something along the lines that the woman was his cousin, and he wasn't even considered human in his family's eyes. That his cousin blames him for everything, for getting everyone killed, for not just to stay in his role.
" I am tainted with dirty blood, " he says in a soft breath, " this I will carry until I die and reborn. "
Mitsuri wants to tell him that his family doesn't define what he is, that he's not them, and that he's not dirty. In her eyes, he's such a strong and amazing person fighting for the innocence.
But as she keeps her gaze on him, and he doesn't even look at her since the moment they left the village, she realizes that it's not easy. Those comforting words would fall into deaf ears.
Perhaps her words would be listened, but not accepted.
So she takes his hand gently, noting the flinch as his response but no withdrawing.
" You're not alone, Iguro-san. I'll always support you. "
And at that moment, Obanai knows that he really doesn't deserve Mitsuri at all.
(he wants to love her, to show how much she means to him but she deserves so much better than what he is. She wants to love him, wants to give her heart but how can she, if he refuses it?)

⋆♱⋆YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
WARNINGS: Yandere Behaviors, Drugging, Abuse in form of ‘Training’, Breaking bones.
PAIRINGS: Yandere Hashiras & Yandere Uppermoons x Reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You’re a fanfic writer who always enjoyed writing deranged yandere bullshit, and a sadistic one at that — you’re always making sure to make your mc’s suffer just because it’s satisfying, and they were never spared from the torturous path you laid out for them.
Little did you know that your grisly storytelling would come back to haunt you, for you ended up getting isekai’d on one of your fanfics, because for some reasons, life decided to be an ass, and the the grim reaper’s scythe whisked you away to the realm of one of your fanfics — and the sensation of being isekai’d into your own creation was disorienting, to say the least.
After all, the very same fanfic that you got reincarnated into was the most disturbing of them all — your yandere kimetsu no yaiba fanfic.
The atrocious acts you've inflicted upon your protagonist are beyond twisted, like seriously fucked up. You didn't just stop at giving them a shitty backstory and psychological trauma — oh no, you cranked it up a notch by tossing in a goddamn harem of yandere nutjobs. These thirsty-as-hell psychos were so off their rockers that they veered straight into bonkers territory, their obsession reaching levels that would make even a deranged serial killer blush.
They were downright bat-shit crazy over the MC, like, borderline certifiable. It was as if the MC was their holy grail, their reason for living.
Not the cute and endearing kind of devotion either; we’re talking hardcore, stalker-level obsession.
The only one who were somewhat less psycho yandereish was Mitsuri... but then there was Obanai, who was a walking danger zone on steroids...
Every damn piece of that twisted fanfic you cooked up is a total shitshow.
Kyojuro went batshit crazy over the MC because they stood up for him against his dickhead of a father. Shinobu turned into a psycho stalker because she couldn't wipe her own ass without the MC's help, resorting to schemes like trying to paralyze and drug them just to keep them on a leash.
Tengen who thought that he could charm the pants off the MC until he got a taste of competition and spiraled into a possessive man..
And then there’s Sanemi who’s the most cray cray of them all... He practically broke the mc’s bones and beat them up into a pulp, all because he couldn't handle his jealous rage and tried to pass it off as some sick form of ‘training’
And the demons? They’re more worst than the hashiras.
And the worst part of it all?
You were now the reincarnation of the MC.

*cw: this theory deals with child sexual abuse and has mentions of suicidal ideation and eating disorders.
*If you or anyone you know is going through this, you can find resources here, here and here as well as a list of international hotlines.
Obanai is probably the second most hated character in the fandom, and just like Sanemi, he’s one of the most misunderstood. I think the hate he gets from the fandom is unwarranted; he’s accused of being a dick, a horrible person, a simp and a character who only exists to be Mitsuri’s love interest. All of which is unfair, sure he’s prickly and unapproachable, but he’s not as bad as the fandom makes him out to be.
So, in my quest to draft a defense for our favorite snek boy, I reread his backstory and in doing so, I realized something sad
Unhinged theory
Obanai is a sexual abuse survivor
Tumblr media
Let me explain:
Obanai’s backstory and aspects of his character mirrors that of someone who’s been through sexual trauma. The evidence I'm going to present is a combination of my own knowledge about these matters and information I got from forums and websites for male survivors of sexual abuse. So let's examine them...um spoilers
The snake demon
I believe that the snake demon is a metaphor for a sexual predator. Her inclusion in the family could also be a metaphor for how these predators insert themselves into family units-or most of the time are family members themselves-and abuse the children for years and even generations. Obanai's relatives sacrificing their babies to her could signify the real life actions of families who are unaware or, turn a blind eye to, or sometimes actively participate in the abuse of their children.
The sacrifice in exchange for wealth speaks of how families in real life ignore the abuse of their children to maintain the wealth and status they obtain from being related to and associated with the abuser.
Even her decision to wait, ordering the cutting of his mouth so he would look like her, could be interpreted as her 'grooming' him in a sense.
Even her design has a certain sexual, predatory aspect to it that's different from the other demons.
Tumblr media
His relatives
Obanai describes his family members as being 'disgustingly' affectionate and bringing him lots of 'greasy' food that made him sick. Food in media is often used to depict love, affection, connection and sex, and Demon Slayer is no different.
There are plenty of instances where food and the giving of food has been used to denote friendship (Tanjiro giving Zenitsu, Inosuke and Genya meals in an attempt to bond with them), connection (Giyuu wanting to give Sanemi ohagi), love (Tanjiro's love of cooking and the satisfaction he shows when his meals are enjoyed by others) and pleasure (Mitsuri's large appetite). I'll make a post about this later.
With this context, we can interpret their bringing of rich foods, their overbearing attention and affections as them objectifying and even being sexually inappropriate with him.
Tumblr media
The sexual abuse
Non-physical.
The first instance of abuse is non-physical, but that doesn't make it any less important. Being constantly visited by the snake demon in his room at night, Obanai described his feelings of terror, being paralyzed and watched. His body would break out in a sweat, and he would be unable to fall asleep.
Tumblr media
His descriptions of the experience and his body's reaction to it reminded me of some survivors' stories I read, where they talked about how in the initial stages of the abuse or when the abuser was first introduced into their lives, their abuser would give them unwanted attention, would stare at them in a way that felt creepy, gross and wrong.
Some had their abusers come in to their rooms, maybe under the guise of 'checking in on them'. They described feeling terrified, freezing up with the hopes that the attacker would leave. Some would take measures such as sleeping with the door locked or with a heavy object against it, sleeping with a sibling or parent, sleeping in a hiding spot that the attacker knows nothing about or not sleeping at all.
Physical.
The specific age that the snake demon plans to 'eat' Obanai is never stated, but from what we've seen so far and in the sexual context, we can assume that she's waiting until he hits puberty. Some studies state that the average age of victims of female sex offenders usually falls around 14 years, but there are cases where the female predator waited until their victim reached sexual maturity before they carried out their abuse, like in the case of Mary Kay Letourneau. Here's a video that breaks down an interview she did before her death.
Obanai was 12 when he was dragged out of his cell to be subjected to what I believe is the first physical abuse. He had his mouth slit from ear to ear, with the blood collected and fed to her. The snake demon decided to have him live a little longer, which again, fits into my theory of her wanting to wait until he reached puberty.
Tumblr media
Bodily violation, violence and blood are common allegories for sexual assault used in media and in Obanai's backstory we see it being used when his relatives drag him from his cell, literally pin him down, cut his mouth and feed his blood to the snake demon. The act of feeding on his blood could also be a metaphor for the snake demon sexually abusing him.
His escape and the resulting fallout
Obanai managed to escape, and although he was tracked down by the snake demon, he was saved by Shinjuro Kengoku before she could kill him. His cousin's response was to blame him for all that happened, asked why he ran away, and said that he should have 'allowed' the demon to eat him.
This could represent how some victims are rejected, ostracized and criticized for speaking out against their attacker, exposing the abuse to the public and getting help. Their families would say 'you should have just let it happen', 'you destroyed the family', 'why did you run away, tell people?' and place the blame on the victim.
Tumblr media
Obanai's reaction
There are three aspects of his characterization that are similar to the common reactions noticed in adult survivors of sexual assault, especially male survivors.
His appearance.
His behavior.
His beliefs.
His appearance
Obanai has a small frame that he hides with his baggy uniform and haori. I can tell it's baggy compared to that of the other slayers because of the width of his pants vs the width of his lower legs. Desexualization or hypo-sexualization is a common response among some survivors of sexual trauma, this usually involves wearing clothes and taking measures to make themselves look 'unattractive'.
'But this side feels more comfortable for me, like the baggy clothes I wear, which hide my body, and the long sleeves which reach past my wrists. I promised myself no man would ever touch me again, and whether it was a moment of triumph, or a moment of defeat, I still don't know.'
'I'm thin, shy. I seem easy to dominate. I've grown a beard. That's helped a little. I dress in baggy clothes, covering as much of my skin as possible. That makes me feel safe.'
This not only helps regain a sense of control and power over their body but also serves as a protective measure against sexual advances so they don't get abused again.
In Obanai, given his history of receiving unwanted, suffocating and 'disgusting' attention from his female relatives, it would make sense that he would want to dress in a way that makes him unapproachable and hides his body from the opposite sex. We can see his attempts to desexualize himself in the picture below:
Tumblr media
His behavior
'Iguro has difficulty with girls. Due to his experiences growing up, he was unable to conquer his fear and animosity. Plus, the firls who joined the Demon Slayer Corps often put on brave faces because of their sad backgrounds, so he felt sorry for them, making him uncomfortable in a different way.' - Taisho Whispers, official English translation.
'Iguro-san isn't good with women. Due to his upbringing he has a fear and disgust towards women. (I couldn't overcome it easily. The women who joined the Demon Slayer Corps have painful stories of determination. I felt sorry for them and I didn't get along with them in a way that was different from the way I got along with my family)' - Taisho Whispers, direct-sort-of-shitty translation via Google Translate.
Male survivors who were victims of childhood abuse by female perpetrators often talk about how the abuse greatly affected their relationships with women or lack thereof. Some going so far as to say that they became afraid of women, being around them and how sometimes being touched by women would trigger panic attacks and remind them of the trauma.
Here are some quotes posted in a thread on the Male Survivor forum. Full thread here.
'Once that happened, my genophobia became more intense. I couldn't ware short trousers in summer, could never go swimming, got paranoid if I touched a woman's arm or even brushed against one, would always stand at a distance from female friends, and would literally leave the room if anything explicit was discussed.'
'I have started to have strange, deep discomforting feelings as I remember some of the assaults and I have gotten to a place where touch from a woman makes my hair stand up, makes me nauseous, and gives me chills and feelings of dread.'
Obanai has similar responses when he finds himself in proximity to women. We're only told about it in the main manga, but it's shown in the Gakuen. I know the Gakuen takes place in an alternate universe, but aside from the events, the behaviors of the characters are based on their actual personalities in the main manga, so we can safely say the reactions he displays in the Gakuen is canon to his character.
Tumblr media
His beliefs
Adult survivors of sexual abuse often struggle with feelings of guilt, rage, and shame. In the manga, Obanai talks about being held back by the decaying hands of his family members, which could represent the long-lasting effects of sexual abuse and how some survivors carry these burdens all through adulthood or throughout their lives.
Tumblr media
There's also the thoughts about himself that echo the heartbreaking thoughts shared by some male survivors.
Guilt:
"As the member of a filthy family, I too was corrupt. My sins were deep, so I could not live a normal life"
Rage:
"With no other outlet, I turned all my rage on demons in a grudge of intense hatred. By risking my life for others, I felt as if I could in some way become a slightly better person."
Shame:
"Unless I die and come back in a different body in which this filthy blood does not flow, I have no right to be with you."
Suicidal ideation(mild):
"By risking my life for others, I felt as if I could in some way become a slightly better person."
"I want to die defeating Muzan." (He's the only character that I know of that outright says this.)
He also kind-of expresses his feelings of being weak during the fight with Muzan:
"I've accomplished less in this battle than anyone! I wish I could deliver a more effective attack."
While this quote isn't exactly definite, a feeling of being weak, or being 'less of a man' is also a common experience shared by male sexual assault survivors.
The scar and It's symbolism
Tumblr media
The scar is a physical manifestation of the lifelong effect that sexual abuse has on its victims and the stigma it carries. For Obanai, it's not just a painful reminder of the trauma he suffered at the hands of his family, but also a reminder to him that he's like his attacker, the snake demon. The bandages he wraps around his mouth symbolizes not just his attempts to hide his trauma, but also his inability to talk about it due to shame and fear, which is unfortunately an all too common experience of male survivors.
Another struggle survivors often experience is with intimacy, romantic relationships and sex. For Obanai, I believe that this struggle is represented by his eating disorder. The link between food and sex is a well established belief in many cultures, people with large appetites can be seen as having equally high sex drives while people with small appetites have little or no sex drive.
As he grows older, his little appetite is basically him curbing his growing sexual desire, which he sees as ugly, like the scar on his mouth. But the thing is Obanai wants love, he wants to love and be loved, to be intimate with another person, but he feels he doesn't deserve it, after all he's filthy, shameful and probably a predator just like the snake demon. So he starves himself, suffering in silence with the belief that he was disgusting, that no one would ever love him, that he was destined to and deserved to be alone.
Then he met Mitsuri.
In Conclusion, Obanai is way more complex than the KnY fandom gives him credit for. This is a man that went through immense suffering, and it's really sad to see people hate on him because he isn't 'nice'.
Well, that's just how life is. Trauma doesn't exactly make nice people. We can't all be like Giyuu or Tanjiro(bestest boy ❤), a lot of us are like Obanai, Sanemi, and even Shinobu, a lot of us are angry, and why shouldn't we be?
...
*Phew, ok so this one has been in the drafts for a while because I was scared to post such a dark subject matter and also I needed to be really sure I wasn't just talking out of my ass but after rereading his backstory and analyzing aspects of his character, I'm more confident about this.

In honour of the birthday of Giyuu Tomioka the best character in demon slayer (to ME), I will use my free will to rant about the best Giyuu panels in the manga:
1.
Tumblr media
Peak. Best of the best. Magnum opus of Demon Slayer manga. This specific moment is when my emotions reach the climax every single time I read the fight.
Giyuu and Tanjirou, one arm each, holding on to one sword, focus on the Rengoku sword hilt. Tanjirou being guided once again by the two hashiras he looks up to the most.
Once again, right after this, Tanjirou pushes Giyuu back and saves his life. A full circle, the lowest of the low for Giyuu, the highest of the highs of striking Muzan together.
Notice that Giyuu unlocked the red blade TWICE, once with Sanemi, his foil among the hashiras, and now with Tanjirou, the one he cherishes the most. Giyuu - always defined by his relationships. Giyuu as an individual character in a vacuum has very little to show. It's just another backstory, a traumatized hashira, just like the other demon slayers. Giyuu stands out in Demon Slayer because he is constantly present, he has developing relationships. The red blade is just another show for that. This panel does this theme of Giyuu justice too.
And, lore aside, the absolute HYPE of this scene. The long drawn fight, the hashiras with lost limbs all down, Sanemi and Obanai come in to attack Muzan and save Tanjirou, but oh-- where's Giyuu again? RIGHT HEREEEEE!!!!!!! LENDING A HAND TO TANJIROU, LITERALLY, AS HE ALWAYS HAS.
2.
Tumblr media
Pretty self explanatory. Absolute badass, putting himself between an Uppermoon and someone he cares about, Tanjirou.
It goes into Giyuu's biggest theme of protection. He hates being protected, he wants to protect the people he loves (just like Akaza). He did not want to be a 'useless komainu' to Tanjirou. I don't know if it's stated explicitly but its obvious that Dead Calm was created so he would be able to protect himself without needing the help of others. His fight against Rui was a simpler version of this: protecting Tanjirou (though at the time he didn't recognize him), against Rui, whose whole theme was about wanting to be protected by a family, with elders fulfilling their role of protection.
Here Giyuu and Tanjirou were, dealing with the same theme again, and Giyuu going all out with wanting Tanjirou to survive. It's not that he's been silent about his love for Tanjirou, but this is where he explicitly declares wanting to protect him, in his own words (do NOT take a shot everytime you see the word "protect").
3.
Tumblr media
Debating between this or the 4th panel, I chose this as the 3rd because this is MY post and I want to make top 3 posts all about him and Tanjirou.
And boyyyyyy is it about him and Tanjirou. He cant even sit up. Is it not insane to see him being THIS vulnerable?? in public???? Add to the fact that he knows Tanjirou's closer friends are right there in the same battlefield, and yet it was him who couldn't help but want to stay physically close to Tanjirou. If Tanjirou's death had been true, he'd be back at square 1, being useless, never strong enough (quite a recurring theme in Demon Slayer I must say).
Like, look, he's sobbing, he cried like three times during this whole DKT and death deal. When the inevitable Sunrise Countdown movie comes out, I personally would like to close my eyes and ears during this scene.
4.
Tumblr media
I admit this could and should have been number 3. But that aside, the coolest panel in the manga award goes to... (to be fair, that can be debated, other panels are just as cool if not cooler for sure.)
Sanemi and Giyuu, peak relationship in Demon Slayer. This moment is the climax to all of the buildup since !!Sanemi's first appearance!! (you see how Giyuu was giving him a whole lot of side eye that scene?)
In a way Sanemi and Giyuu bring out some ~interesting~ emotions in eachother. Who else would Giyuu call a simpleton? Who else would Sanemi pick a fight with, simultaneously trying to understand them? When you go to the AU territory, that's a pretty hefty magnetic pull of a relationship, isn't it?
And this moment - as I said earlier, one of the red blades Giyuu achieved, it's with Sanemi! Sanemi trusted Giyuu with equal strength (as Kanao said that was necessary for a red blade strike), and we've seen them draw before, and that's the ONLY hashira vs hashira we saw! (well, ufotable added a whole bunch, and I'm thankful for that, but I do regard Gotouge's compact and limited version of the story higher. Gotouge thought that Sanemi vs Giyuu was the most important hashira sparring for the audience out of all of them, and for obvious reasons).
All of that, AND the panel calls back to that one picture of Sabito flying over Giyuu. Two of the rough dudes Giyuu has been associated with, which is a nice touch.
And heyyy that's the sword that Sanemi threw at Giyuu!! Which was a pretty important moment right before Giyuu explicitly called himself a hashira (contrasting with Tanjirou, where he stood merely as the protector, the senior, with no regard to their posts and hierarchies). Sanemi gave Giyuu some real good push this fight. Would have loved to see them on a mission together, but alas, Demon Slayer manga is pretty limited with what it shows.
5.
Tumblr media
I don't have much to say. It's just cute, alright? Look at him all teeny tiny smiling about the prospect of being friends with Sanemi. What the hell. Why are you so cute. Look at Tanjirou sharing the same dumbass braincell. What's up with these two
Unranked honorary mentions:
Tumblr media
10/10. More of 21 trio stupidness, please. And look at Giyuu's stupid face as if he didn't just insult Sanemi in front of everyone. OBANAI, HE DIDN'T EVEN SAY ANYTHING TO YOU-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His crow he's so attached to :,(. I would personally die for you Kanzaburou. And yeah, absolutely, Kanzaburou mistaking Tanjirou for Giyuu. They have the same essence I guess

MURATAAAAAAA and yes, while I do love this because of the whole Murata celebrity crush on Giyuu thing and all, I love how desperate Giyuu was the entire time to save Tanjirou, even in the middle of his own fight again MUZAN HIMSELF. And who better to take care of Tanjirou than Murata, someone who took care of him back when Sabito died? Connected bonds, alright. Sabito already helped Tanjirou with his journey back in Mt. Sagiri, he could also use someone else from Giyuu's past.
Tumblr media
Post canon, all of it. The light in his eyes, his journey, he deserves all of the love and peace.

OBANAI AS YOUR LOVER
HEADCANNON
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
HEADCANNON LOVER AU
WARNINGS : A BIT SPOILERS
Tumblr media
I think him as your lover is pretty much insecure because if you read the manga you'll know .
First Obanai will think his unworthy of your love knowing bout his past .
When your both in a relationship his very loving , just not very good at PDA
His scared to taint you ! LIKE HAVE YOU READ THE MANGA ?! HIS BACKSTORY IS SOBBING 😭 AND BECAUSE OF THAT HIS SCARED !
NO ONE CAN PROVE ME WRONG THAT THIS MAN GIVES YOU GOODNIGHT KISSES BEFORE YOU SLEEP BECAUSE I DO THINK HE DOES .
If your in a relationship with him , PLS BE PATIENT WITH HIM . TELL THIS BOY THE BEST COMPLIMENTS BECAUSE HIS INSECURE ESPECIALLY IF YOU TALK WITH ANOTHER GUY!
He is easily jealous for sure . Especially if you manage to edge him enough , he'll will break lose and he'll threaten the guy so the next day you see the guy . His already running away from you .
I headcanon his to be a worshipper , pretty much a switch . He wants the best for his lover .
His favorite part is your boobs , he loves it when he buries his head hiding his face .
He will sooner or later reveal his face to you if you insisted because for sure he'll think you'll break up with him because of that ! SO PLS MAKE HIM FEEL HIS PRETTY EVEN WITH THE SCAR ! BECAUSE IF I MET THAT SNAKE ILL RIP THAT DEMON TO PIECES
He is not very good with words but he'll be sure to show it through gifts and touches too ! He'll take you out on a date and treat you the queen you are !
I CAN IMAGINE HIM GOING ALL OUT WHEN ITS YOUR ANNIVERSARY or BIRTHDAY ! but if he had a mission on that day , after tat he'll treat you to a sorry date for missing the precious hours he lost .
If you are a demon slayer like him , his scared for your sake ! THATS WHY MOST OF YOIR MISSION INVOLVED WITH HIM ! BUT If your a Hashira STILL THAT EXCUSE HIS WORRIED FOR YOU ! HE TRUSTS YOUR STRENGTH BUT STILL ! SO MAKE SURE TO REASSURE HIM OF ALL TIMES!
If his lover though is civilian , his still worried .Yes your not part of the corps but still ! A demon might come in and kill you under his nose! HIS VERY WORRIED ! that's why he has to either leave you in the butterfly mansion or to Mitsuri's ! HIS JUST WORRIED FOR YOUR SAKE!
I headcannon him that he'll likely let you pet Kaburamaru ! That cute snakeyyy
He peppers you with affection and love , his not just Good with his words but actions speaks louder
This man is your definition of the green flag , he treats you right but his just insecure that maybe you'll leave him! SO GIVE HIM ALL THE LOVEE
He hugs you when sleeping , yes he might he weak in terms of strength but still he packs a bunch when he hugs you!
His a switch for sure . His not into more control because his more into worships but if his partner wants to do it , he doesn't mind .
He loves everything about you that he memorizes every bit of you . HIS LIKE , HE KNOWS YOU BETTER THAN YOURSELF !
he easily picks out your habits and easily reads you .
He loves listening when you talk .
He is a gentle lover!
For me his a 8.5 / 10 , His lacking in qualities but his one of the best boy , overall green flag but he sometimes goes overboard when his worried .

Note
I was reading the kny light novels and this one chapter was about genya and sanemi and had a flashback to their childhood and there's a line about how sanemi babies genya and genya wonders 'but who babies sanemi' and that made me think about how obanai probably never felt love and affection as a baby and young child like I know his childhood was shit but it just made me like think about how obanai being deaged and babied and cared for is so fundamentally beautiful. I also think that might be why canon wise he's so reactive over mitsuri and it's something I feel like the main fandom seem to ignore to just make him over to be this easily jealous simp guy. Like he just clearly has attachment issues.
ughhh anon u get me!! thats one of the main reasons i deage obanai all the time. poor guy had never felt love nor affection even as an infant, so its almost healing putting him in these situations where he does need to be cared for ):
and i totally agree with you! i hate that people say hes a jealous simp/yandere/etc when i feel its just really obvious he struggles with people and attachments in general
i cant help but think if we had more time with him people would understand that a lot better. after all his backstory was the last one to be revealed in the series--- but even with what we were given im surprised he still gets so mischaracterized and overshadowed in the fandom
Tumblr media
starting today i am establishing a new system. lets give it up for obanai iguro as our first contestant
who am i if not a hater of mischaracterization and bad hcs that are formed to benefit one character and harm another . bite beddybites . but you get what im saying
