have you considered trying batik or other traditional malaysian hand crafts/arts?
i have tried batik! i did a residency at a natural dye studio called threads of life in ubud, indonesia last year where i learned from a balinese natural dyer the traditional methods of dyeing with indigo, mud, and several indigenous plants and trees. he also taught me traditional batik with wax and canting. it was one of the best experiences of my life and i would love to go back and spend more time learning with them one day 🥹🤎 i really enjoyed the batik process but it took some practice, i feel like i would need at least a couple weeks of intensive practice to be able to feel semi-competent with it lol
there's a traditional weaving teacher also in ubud that another seasian textile artist friend has studied with, and the teacher has invited me to apprentice with them too so someday soon i want to go back and spend more time there. i have to apply for grant funding and all of that stuff first

This chicken tamale was incredible. And Alice shared it with me! She’s becoming such a fun an adventurous eater. We saw people at the street market walking around with tamales and I was like, I HAVE TO HAVE ONE! So we found them and I got a little hot sauce but only a tiny bit bc I wanted Alice to be able to enjoy it. And she ate probably half of the tamale and even tried the hot sauce! I wish I’d bought more to keep in the condo. They were incredible and like $1.75.

Vibrant Patterns Envelop Dozens of Mythical Animal Sculptures That Explore the Folk Art Traditions of Mexico
In Guardians, artists María del Carmen Mendoza Méndez and Jacobo Ángeles Ojeda, of Jacobo and Maria Ángeles Workshop, pay homage to the mythical creatures of their Oaxacan childhoods. The husband-wife duo carves the soft wood of the copal tree into fantastical creatures that reference Mesoamerican spirituality and Mexican folk art, including the sculptures known as alebrijes. They refer to the unearthly characters as Tonas and Nahuales and cloak the birds, butterflies, and beasts in vibrant patterns and Zapotec symbols.

I saw this and my immediate thought was "Juliet the hellhound".
It's far fetched but maybe this is a psychedelic AU version of Juliet the hellhound.

Introduction!
My name is Itztli, my pronouns are they/she and I have ADHD and ASD. I am a devotee of La Santisima Muerte and it was when I started working/following Her that I was led to this path I am on now: reconnecting to my family and our roots.
As I started to follow La Muerte, I also began to dabble in and pick up some practices. At first they were broad and open things that devotees no matter if they were Mexican could practice, but then the more stories of Her origins and roots pointed right at the peoples and places my grandpa was constantly talking about in my childhood.
So I’ve since taken a slight pause from witchcraft, focusing on my indigenous roots and reconnecting as I’ve never fully identified with being Mexican or Chicano. It was part of the puzzle, but I found what I was missing. I’m indigenous, I’m Nahua and Mixtec and that specification has just fit and clicked with me perfectly. The creation myths, the teotl and ideology clicked as well, in ways religions my family has tried to ingrain in me never did.
Since I’ve taken a step back from witchcraft, I only really practice tarot, pendulum work and protective magic or simple manifesting spells.
That’s about it for my (new/revised) introduction. The focus of this blog will be my journey of reconnecting and sharing what I can and what is appropriate to share.

I walked to the local Farmers Market to get breakfast (see above). While walking, I listened to these joints. Happy Saturday.
