this whole blake lively vs justin baldoni ordeal is extremely disheartening to witness. The lack of media literacy, critical thinking and the rise of misogyny is disgusting. I don’t care about blake lively really, shes just another celebrity to me. Until i see that people are blindly following a smear campaign because they cant think for themselves for a damn second. baldonis lawsuit is bullshit, hes a man who sucks (shocking) and a womans greatest crime is being ‘annoying’ in the year of our lord 2025

I don't like Blake Lively and was openly critical of how inappropriate her handling of Domestic Violence as a topic was in interviews ie using it as way to promote her lifestyle brands. But I don't have to like someone to believe them when they present a shit tonne of evidence that they're victims of sexual/workplace harrassment and an intense smear campaign. The NYT's exposè on Justin Baldon's PR campaign (link with paywall removed) against Lively, and the evidence she's submitted in her subsequent harrassment suit is eye-opening. Baldoni used the same PR team and tactics Johnny Depp used to smear Amber Heard. Regardless, whether or not someone is likeable is immaterial to the person's right to be safe and unharmed, but these PR firms really play on the masses synomysing likeability and innocence. Once again, the cruel and violently misogynistic legacy of Johnny Depp's DARVO-ing of Amber Heard rears its ugly head.

The way Blake promoted the movie, and (didn't) talk about DV WAS problematic.
I keep seeing it mentioned that in the documents it says Blake was under contract on how to promote the movie and one of them was not talking about the DV, I haven’t seen it myself yet but that would explain it
this is what you are thinking of, and it's a very good micro example of how intentionally public perception can be shifted:
During the film rollout, Ms. Lively was also accused of being insensitive about domestic violence. The official promotion plan instructed the cast to focus more on the uplifting aspects of the movie than on abuse, and to embrace a floral theme (her character has a flower shop). In several appearances, she never made reference to domestic violence at all. And she faced criticism when her Betty Booze beverage company was promoting the film, given the role alcohol can play in abusive relationships.
Seeing that blowback, the text messages show, Mr. Baldoni and his P.R. team decided instead to highlight survivors of domestic violence in his interviews and social media.
Source: The NYT expose that is very worth reading (free as of right now)

the amount of pro-baldoni reels i've seen in just the past few hours while i've been idly scrolling while at work is disgusting. the complete and utter disregard for the full claims lively has leveled at baldoni is disheartening. professional level darvo at it's finest. a man saying there's no smear campaign as he runs a smear campaign to paint her as a liar in spite of documentation of his shitty behaviors.
claims, which by the way, he hasn't refuted. he's filed suit against the nyt saying the text conversations with pr were out of context and that there wasn't a smear campaign orchestrated by his pr. he hasn't denied he sexually harassed blake because there's a paper trail on the meetings and complaints against him and his buddy. people don't care about that though. he doesn't have to do much at all because people are already primed to hate blake and blame her, call her power hungry and ready to say she did this to herself.
there are no perfect victims. it's always "believe women" until it's a woman that's considered unlikeable or difficult. no one should have to qualify they're not a blake fan and bring up all her past transgressions to justify believing her claims.
if blake lively -- a wealthy, successful white woman in hollywood with connections that has a rich, successful white husband with his own connections -- cannot be believed that what chance do the rest of us have?

So I was randomly on tiktok when I saw something rather gross. Apparently Blakely lively is suing Justin Baldoni and his company for sexual harassment.
The gross part is that both the tiktoker and her commenters are calling Lively's allegations into question because, to paraphrase, she isn't a saint hut he is and she's allegedly after the rights to direct the sequel of the movie they did together (according to the comments and the titktoker).
Like, regardless of if you like Lively or not, I just think it's pretty gross to just immediately see the allegations and say she's lying even though docs have already been submitted to court and Baldoni hired Depp's PR firm months ago.
i have not been following this closely and i literally do not know who justin baldoni is but i ALWAYS knew that the blake lively hatefest was sus and it seems that an nyt article recently dropped that vindicated this belief. and mark my words, the internet will pile on a famous woman AGAIN when she gets in a fued with an abusive man, and act surprised when this same thing happens, just like it did with amber heard and blake lively.

"This story reveals a new playbook for waging a far-reaching and largely undetectable smear campaign in the digital age." Megan Twohey, NYT investagative reporting.
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/12/21/business/media/blake-lively-justin-baldoni-it-ends-with-us.html?unlocked_article_code=1.jE4.sYdZ.Ah3sVs-lnJ9z&smid=url-share
Being uninterested in current US celebrity gossip means that this story kind of whizzed past me this summer. I didn't sit up to take notice. Neither of these people is Jimin, so I tuned it out. Yesterday's court filing, however, finally caught my attention. That's revealed is fascinating if not outrightly horrifying.
The media has fully invested in our attention. It's become their biggest commodity and tool. Propaganda at its finest. We've seen cases like this before where two parties start up a smear campaign to tarnish someone's good reputation to sway public opinion. Oftentimes, these cases are a battle between a man and a woman. Think of Brad Pitt vs. Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard or, more recently, Trumpelstiltskin vs. Ms. Harris. Can we even go as far as to include MHJ and Hybe/Bang in this category? Or, the people vs. anyone they want to tarnish?
Tumblr media
Public opinion is such a fickle thing. It's entirely malleable in the hands of the 'right' people. Anyone willing and unscrupulous enough to go the extra mile.
Park Jimin was just as recently as last week been the target of online hate campaigns. Helloo Min Yoongi? Kim Namjoon?!?! Basically, every Tannie has been wrung through the wringer like this to serve a voracious narrative. In their case, it was other fandoms fanning the flames of hate for the media to serve, but it's all meant to destroy a person's reputation.
I bring this article up because it's a good reminder of how much influence PR firms have when they want to change a narrative in order to suit their highest bidder. It makes me wonder how much of the bad press we hear (chatter online) is fully fabricated, maybe partly based on the public's incentive to dislike a certain person, and how important it is to read between the lines. To stay critical in your online interactions and in your dissemina of reports. Keep thinking for yourself. Your opinion can't become cement, in either direction.
Tumblr media
Isn't it funny how PR playbooks have been exposed this year? Remember MHJ and her text exchanges about how best to go on the attack? Her confidence when talking to her co-conspirator as opposed to her demeanor during her presser? We are the ones being catered to! Our dumb minds are unwilling or unable to parse through to the truth. It's not surprising seeing as it's often very hard to figure out who's lying about whom.
I know some people love certainty, look at the nonsense questions most jikook bloggers get asked about, but it's better to stay flexible in how secure you feel about anything so as not to be surprised or dissapointed in the long run. Trust your gut when it comes to forming an opinion on someone or something and ask yourself, 'Why?' Why am I being asked to hate or voice my dislike on a celebrity whom I know nothing about? Why am I being driven towards a conclusion that serves but ONE narrative?
Come on, people, this happens to 'us' in this K-pop/ARMY fandom community as well..if not worse.

it should be known that taylor’s bestie blake lively is also a s*xual abuse apologist
Tumblr media
she called w**dy allen “empowering” in a 2016 vanity fair interview and has made NO apology or retraction of that statement since then.
that was 2 years after woody’s stepdaughter opened up in that NYT op-ed about how he s*xually abused her.
there’s also the fact that blake and ryan got married on a literal fucking plantation and then tried to act like they didn’t know it was a plantation despite the fact that the venue has “plantation” in its name and has shit like this on the premises:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so yeah, it really shouldn’t be surprising that taylor doesn’t care about her new friend being a SA apologist. if anything, that probably sealed the deal for her. taylor LOVES surrounding herself with problematic, nasty people.

“They can never make me hate Meghan Markle, Blake Lively, Angelina Jolie, Amber Heard etc. Every person is flawed but whenever the hate is excessive and irrational it is clear that it is not organic and is being coordinated by someone who is scared shitless about what the woman who is the victim of these smear campaigns could reveal. They manipulate the public into hating women by hiring PR firms who use social media to attack these women and having unethical media outlets incite hatred.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“Every woman Sara Nathan smears in her "articles" is a victim of one of her sister Melissa Nathan's clients. Blake Lively is a victim of Justin Baldoni, Amber Heard is a victim of Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie is a victim of Brad Pitt, women sexually harassed by Trump are victims of Donald Trump(the Trump campaign was Melissa's client too). This all means that the British royal family is a secret client of Melissa's and Meghan Markle being a victim of the BRF is being smeared by Sara because of it.” - Submitted by Anonymous
“Pagefield is the PR firm the Palace used to smear Virginia Roberts Giuffré. Martin Townsend, Pagefield employee interacts online with Meghan single-purpose hate accounts. The NYT conducted an investigation into IG followers of William&Kate and the @sussexroyal IG and found suspicious activity that would suggest the Cambridges bought fake followers. All of this suggests that the palace uses PR firms to run a smear campaign against Meghan planting fake posts on reddit/X/IG much like Justin Baldoni” - Submitted by Anonymous
“The WhatsApp group chat between Palace aides and royal reporters must be blowing up in light of Blake Lively's smear campaign lawsuit against Justin Baldoni.” - Submitted by Anonymous

I don’t think that Blake’s complaint and the NYT article are achieving what Blake and Ryan want it to PR wise. Even people who believe that Justin was the problem are not really siding with Blake. I’ve seen a lot of takes to the effect of “Blake Lively can be harassed but that doesn’t make her a good person.” The article may be smearing Justin, but it’s not making people like Blake. Anyway, I’m waiting for Justin’s counter-suit against her to drop.
yeah, it’s not winning her love and devotion at the end of the day. people didn’t like her because they just didn’t like her. she proved herself to be rude, self centered, and an overall mean girl by the way she treats people (esp other women) and how she acted during the press tour. no amount of “I’m an uwu woman who was harassed by a big bad MAN” is going to make up for that, not now that most people are just done with celebrities.
I think both she and Ryan thought it would work for her the way it does for their bestie Taylor, and I know I’ve said this at some point before, but they keep doing it. they think they can use Taylor’s PR tactic without having the insanely devoted fanbase to back it up. even Blake Lively ‘fans’ just like her characters or movies, or they’re swifties. she doesn’t have a cohesive fanbase to rally for support. so she can’t get away with literally anything but she keeps trying to, and every time it fails miserably.

I would like to hear your thoughts on the Blake Lively lawsuit. I think that these claims are without a doubt true, plus Sony has always showed support towards Blake. However, I am little on the fence over the reputation damage, since she did said and did some things on her own that in way helped to destroy her image.
The evidence in the NYT story alone is overwhelming. I don’t think there’s any question around the defamation. I would interpret any evidence that seems to confirm that she’s a bully, difficult to work with, etc, through the frame that someone was trying to manipulate you.
Unfortunately, the ability to stand up to creeps in Hollywood is contingent on one’s own status and power. Blake was fortunate to have had a long career already, to have the solid support of Sony, to be married to another power player, and to be white with the correct body type and “look.” She has all of those privileges, so I’m glad she used them to publicize and combat shitty & illegal sexual harassment and then the gender-charged smear campaign.
Anyhow, I noticed that the Daily Mail came up in the piece. Shocking. We know what the tabloids and socials did to Meghan Markle, and we’ve even talking on my blog about their coverage of Zendaya (although I haven’t seen evidence of a concerted or targeted effort against her, thank god). I’m sure Kamala was the victim of similar smears; they weren’t very quiet about it. Who else?
