Thank you so much to the @nysylc for welcoming in their space today! I was able to lead a two hour workshop on knowing your rights as an undocumented person in the U.S. We just scratched the surface and so much more needs to be done. But it was a fantastic start. Definitely check them out for more info! #undocument #unafraid #unapologetic #endmuslimban #notmypresident #dumptrump #endhate

UNAFRAID
Unafraid
I am a WOMEN.
I wonder about FREEDOM.
I hear HOPE and see LOVE .
I am STUCK.
I PRETEND that things will get BETTER.
BUT YET !
I feel like am FALLING in a deep hole into water that I eventually will
DROWN in.
I am UNAFRAID of what that will feel like ,
I’ve prepared myself and will gladly take that JUMP .
I see ENDFUL GLEEFUL days as I pretend to be Brave.
Unafraid of DEATH because that’s how I will see Abuelita again.
Unafraid because that’s how I can BE FREE once again.

New York State Youth Leadership Council Protest Later Today
New York, NY. On Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 8:30pm, undocumented youth will be leading a major civil disobedience in front of Governor Cuomo's midtown Manhattan office. This civil disobedience will be one final push to advocate for the NY DREAM Act to be passed during this legislative session. Although the NY DREAM Act suffered a crushing defeat in the State Senate during March, the bill was recently passed by the State Assembly again and still has an opportunity to be passed into law during this session. The New York DREAM Act would provide access to the state Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) for undocumented youth who have grown up in New York State and wish to pursue a college degree. Of the nearly 5,000 undocumented students who graduate from NY high schools each year, only a small percentage pursue a college degree due to tremendous financial obstacles. Passing the New York DREAM Act would open up the doors of higher education to these students, and move to translate the American rhetoric of equality of opportunity into tangible policy for undocumented youth. This is a critical and historic moment for the New York DREAM Act. The bill passed twice in the State Assembly this session and was only two votes away from passing in the State Senate. As the bill edges closer than ever to becoming law, undocumented youth and allies will come together to make a final push for this important piece of legislation in a civil disobedience on Tuesday evening. What: Civil disobedience for the NY DREAM Act Where: In front of Governor Cuomo's office (633 Third Avenue, between 40th and 41st Streets) Who: The New York State Youth Leadership Council

'Coming Out of the Shadows' Rally Today for NY DREAM Act
Today, June 11, undocumented youth will be holding the first ever 'Coming Out of the Shadows' rally outside of Governor Cuomo's office from 1 pm-2 pm. With only a few days left in this legislative session, undocumented youth and supporters of the New York DREAM Act demand that Governor Cuomo work with the New York State Senate to pass the New York DREAM Act this session. Undocumented youth will be sharing their stories for the first time publicly to Governor Cuomo's staff on Tuesday as supporters rally around the New York DREAM Act, a bill that would open up access to state financial aid to qualifying undocumented youth. The protestors will be rallying in full force as a final attempt to make sure the Governor receives the message that immigrants and supporters of the New York DREAM Act will hold him accountable should the bill fail to pass during this session.
