Background:

Ume grew up in the suburbs southwest of Vale, where she lived a fair-rounded environment with her parents. Both parents were nothing special aside from citizen working class. Her area secured its safety as its location within a travel route between Vale and Vacuo allowed frequent hunters passing by for possible income, good services for both parties. The suburbs were indifferent towards both faunus and humans so long as the people refrained from large skirmishes in the community. 

Ume lived her childhood comfortably with friends and bullies of her own, and she had her own indulgences - like cats. Her parents haven’t figured how Ume invested herself into being one, but they spoiled her nonetheless. She encountered different scenarios of offending cat faunus for her portrayal, each time learning to better clarify herself of her actual fascination. Tiresome of repeating herself, she left clarifications to those who bother approaching her. Cat faunus are of disinterest, but that doesn’t mean she dislikes them, they’re just not ‘as cat’ to her.

Ume thought little about entering Beacon, but she endured the same troubles as child on a larger scale, and picked a lot of fights. Her small stature somewhat put her at a disadvantage, but with adjustments her skills fend off opponents tripled her size or more at her third year. She’s held her com-purr-sure well and continues heightening her unique cat capabilities.

Personality:

Ume loves cats and their aesthetics, so posing as them by their features, posture, and habits play into her own little hobby. She exaggerates more lacing her dialect with cat related words or noises into her wordplay. Her eccentric manner invites general conversation with others and especially enjoys picking at the underclassmen. She finds a handful too serious about do-or-die at the academy and likes to lighten their mood if possible.

Generally, Ume is well behaved when she finds it necessary or if she’s focusing on her studies, excluding some cat “ticks.” She’s always willing to lend an ear to those who possibly need to vent or lecture on about their day, to which she responds in her frisky manner. She attempts to cheer up while maybe offering advice or simply her take on the manner after. With that, she tends to speak her mind and sometimes presses presumptions about possible attractions for another. Her comments may not always be spot on, but the thought is fun for her.

Semblance:  “Nyantics”

Ume is able to spatially sense the surroundings of herself or others she makes contact with prior to activation, she can practically “see” their actions from any distance and plans her next actions. She can keep contact up to three people when in use. Her semblance causes her to pause in place to concentrate, which leaves her immobile while mentally tracking her team mates as well. 

Fighting Style:

Weapon(s): Nekokaburi 猫かぶり

Ume often gets the first pounce on her opponent, shifting between stealth and quick attacks. Due to her obsession, she has heightened her flexibility, balance, and agility to mock that of a cat. She relies on chip damage to wear her opponents down. She is still frail and can only sustain a few heavy hits, to which she often partners with one of her teammates and uses her semblance as guidance against their opponents. Her maneuverability allows her teammates to attack freely without getting caught in the fire.

Her nekomimi headbands are her weapons of disposal as she modified them. One can transform to katars, another being daggers, or a boomerang. Her katars are best left for close-ranged opponents and small Grimm. Most of the time she sports daggers and boomerangs as a ranged fighter. The daggers’ “ear” blades are dust enhanced by the hilt cartridges, some can be thrown for a small bomb effect.

Teammates: Ume sees her teammates as her older siblings, and acts so accordingly. She’s seen as the spoiled one to sway the others, and they try not to let it get to them. Ume loves teasing them the most out of anyone she knows.

Lee Lang Ulan - Ume’s partner, and the one she tends listen to by the first attempt- doesn’t stop her to keep trying another time. She finds Lee too business-like, but finds them a good bossy sibling of the bunch. They also exchange manipedis sessions with each other or with the whole team bonding together.

Vae Porgray - Ume finds him as a nice seat on his shoulders, and is usually seen on him when the the team is together. Vae is like her tall big brother, and finds him the easiest to persuade into her shenanigans or to be left to her own devices. She likes to tease him about having a sort of attraction for Ishka.

Ishka Roan - A big sister, Ume feels like Ishka is an enigma. Sometimes she feels like she’s often speaking for her, but is also the one who hears the most out of her. Ishka is kind and enjoys the company, but can sense she may be treading too lightly.

Trivia:

From Japanese 梅 (ume) meaning “plum”. In Japan the plum blossom is thought to symbolize devotion.

Dorroppu is just romaji of “Drop.”

She represents the dew in the her team theme.

Ume’s weapon, Nekokaburi 猫かぶり translates to  "cat cover/veil", but also has a meaning of “feigned innocence or naiveté/wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

Ume owns two cats back home, a siamese and a calico.

She will likely request to rub ear-featured faunus if given the chance.

She has a tendency to keep her hands near her face when speaking to someone.

Ume is one of the shortest rwby ocs I have.
